1. Introduction: Hello everyone. I'm Uni. And into this class we'll draw a cute magical castle landscape. This class doesn't require any prior experience or fancy tools. We'll start from scratch and we'll be using simple techniques throughout the process. Everything you'll see will be happening in procreate. However, if you have added software or want to try traditional materials, you're are welcome to join. If you're ready to start, let's jump right into it. 2. Basic Scheme: Let's start today's class by deciding what kind of canvas we are going to be using. You can see it is a very simple standard square canvas that you can find. In procreate, both pixel width and pixel hide are set at 2048 pixels. If you would like to use any other dimensions for your canvas, just go for it. As for DPI, we are using 300. And as for the color profile, we are setting it as SRGB with this low number. When it's all done, let just hit done and it will be redirected to our new canvas. And now we will need to decide what kind of colors we are going to be using throughout the whole class. You can go to the project and res up and you can download all the materials when needed it. Let's just go straight to our color palettes and let's check out what we have here. Here we have two options of how we can use our colors, the compact and the cards. We will go to the cards because cards have the color names and it will be easier for us to navigate through that while we are still here into our color palettes. Let's select the first color that we are going to be using for our scheme. It will be our dark purple. Let's just tap on it. Let's select it, and let's just go and pick up some brush. We are going to our brush library. We are going to the sketching folder. And you can pick any brush from here that you like. You can go and try some of them out. And when you decide on the brush, let's just go back to our canvas and let's start creating our scheme. The first thing that we will need to do is to create a perfectly round circle. Don't worry, it is very easy. Let's just go to our canvas and just with one line, without lifting up our apple pencil, we will create a ship like that. At the end of the line, we will hold our apple pencil, and you will see that you snap your ship to a better one. But now it's looking more like an ellipse and we would need to have a perfectly round circle. Let's just hold one of our fingers on the screen without lifting up our apple pencil. Now you can see that it is a perfectly round circle, and that's exactly what we need. Let's just make it a little bit bigger so it is the size like that. And then we'll lift up everything that we are holding right now. Now we will need to make sure that our shape is right in the middle of our canvas. Let's just go to the air key on the top left, which is our transform tool. We will tap on it and we will go to the bottom to use uniform methods. Also, we will need to go to snapping, we will tap on it. And here into this little menu, we will turn on snapping two. Now when we have this set, we will need to go to our canvas. We will need to hold our apple pencil at some blank space. And what we need to see is these two lines, one vertical and one horizontal. When you see them, you know that you are right in the center of your canvas. Now when you see these two lines, let's just go and desalect everything by hitting our air key one more time. When we did it, we will need to go to our layers and we will create one more layer. It will be easier for us to create a new layer for this element. And then we will merge all the layers that we will use for our skin together. Let's just tap on our plus icon. Let's create a new layer, and then we'll get back to our canvas. We will need to create a vertically aligned line that will go through the whole shape of our circle. Let's just go above our shape, and we will create a line going down at the end of the line, we will hold our apple pencil, and you can see that we can go and adjust the ingo. Let's just try to make it very straight. When you are done, we will go again to our key on the top left. And we will go and put this line right in the center. Let's just go hold our apple pencil at some blank space and we will just move the line until we see these two orange lines. When you have them, we will go and deselect everything by hitting our arrow key one more time. Now let's just get back to our list and we will create one more layer onto this layer, we will need to go and create a triangle that will be the size of our main element. Let's just go and again, with one line, we will create our sheep. At the end of the line, we will hold our apple pencil. And then we will go over the Soap to this option that just popped up for me, it's polyline for you. It might be something different if you have the option triangle here when you are into the ten mode selected. If you don't have it, you can work with any other option. We will just need to go to the little nodes that we have here and we will need to adjust them. What we need to do is to make an even triangle. We will go to the nose and we will try to make the shape even on both sides. Let's go to the right side and we will move the snow that we have on the bottom right more toward the right side. When you have the distance from the sides even on both sides. Let's just go to the snow that we have on the bottom middle part. And we will drag it a little bit down so we will touch our ellipse. Now when you have something like that, let's just deselect everything by tapping on our screen. When we are done, we will need to do one more thing. We are going back to our layers and we are creating one more layer onto this layer. We will get back to our canvas and we will go to this line that we have in the middle. We will need to go to it and we will need to make two marks down that will divide our ship into three equal parts. Let's just go and do it by eye just creating two little markdowns. When you have them, we will need to go and create the horizontal lines that will go through this little markdown. Firstly, let's just go to the bottom and we will create the line going through the whole shape. At the end of the line, we will hold it and we will adjust the angle. By moving the line, we will try to make it very straight. If you need to adjust the placement on this line, please go to the edited mode or the top. When you are done with the first line, let's just tap on our screen to get away from our edited mode. And let's do the same thing one more time. We will go to this little markdown that we have on the top. Through it, we will create another horizontal line. Hold it at the end, and then adjust the angle if you need to. If you want to move this line more toward the top or toward the bottom, you just need to go over the top to the edited modes and adjust the placement of the element. Try to make the parts even when you are done, let's just tap on the screen to get away from our edited modes. Now our scheme is done, but let's just get back to our lis and let's combine all these four layers together. What we need to do is to put one of our fingers on the top layer and the second finger on the bottom one and make a pinch movement. Now let's just go and rename this layer as scheme. To do so, we will need to tap on the layer and choose rename. And also we will go and change the capacity level of this layer. When we're changing capacity, we are making our objects on this layer a little bit more transparent to do. So we will go to our icon on the layer and you can see that we have the option opacity here. We can grab the slider and move it toward the left side until we still can see what's happening onto this layer. But when it's not that bright, find the capacity that works for you. And when you are done, we will tap on our layer with the scheme one more time to close this window. Now we are done with our scheme. Let's just move on to the next part, where we are going to be creating the first skitch. 3. Layout: This little part. Let's just go and very boldly, find out where we want to put some of our ships. What we need to do, firstly, is to go to our lies and create one more Lia. Let's just tap on the plus icon. And if you want, you can go and rename this lie as scheme two. Now we will start positioning our elements and we'll be using simple ships. Firstly, we will go and create a very wobbly ship on the bottom that will represent some river or some leak. Firstly, let's just go to this line that we have in the middle. And we will step a little bit from the side of it. We will go and start creating the shape. Going in that way, you can play runs with the ship, you can find what works for you. All that you need to do is to create some wobbly shape. When you have it, we will start by going to our triangular shape, to the side of it, and we will start positioning some triangles. Firstly, let's just go over our left and we will go straight to this line that we have here. We will go and very easily start creating the shapes like that. When you have the first one, we will go toward the top part. We will go right on this line and we will start positioning some of other objects. You can go and play around with the size of these elements. All that we need to do is to put three more triangles When you have it, let's just go toward our right part. And let's do something similar here too. Firstly, we'll go to this place that we have on the bottom right here. Let's just put another triangle. When we have it, we will go more toward the right part from it and we will just go and create another triangle here. These parts will be representing our trees. And if you want to play around with the composition, you are welcome to go and do that. All that we need to do is to figure out all of our placements of the elements. Right Now, let's just go and add a few more elements of our trees. We will go to this blink space that we have on our right and we will put one more triangle. All that we are doing right now is position our elements and we are filling up the blink ******. When we have it, we will go to the middle part and we'll go to the top of it. We will go to the third that we have over the top. And into this little part, we are going to be creating our castle. Firstly, let's just go to this line that we have in the middle and we will create a little rectangle. You can do it manually, or you can go and do it with one line and hold it at the end. When you have it, you can go to the Ting mode and position it to your liking. For example, let's just put it not toward the center, but we will move it more toward one of the sides. When you have it, we will tap on the screen and we will get away from our editing mode. On the top of this rectangle, we will go and create another triangle that will represent the roof. When you have it, we will move toward the left side and we will create another little shape here for this element. Let's just go with half of the ellipse. We will just go there, and just with one line, we will create a shape like that. We will hold it at the end, and if we want to adjust it, we will go over the top to our editing mode. Let's just make it a little bit smaller and let's position it more toward the left side. When you are done, let's just tap on the screen to get away from our editing modes. Now let's just go and add a few more details. Firstly, let's just go toward our right part, and let's create another triangle here near our castle. You are welcome to position your elements in a way that you like. Don't recreate everything the way that you see it on your screen. It's your time to play when you have these elements, let's just go and create a few more of them. For example, let's just go to this blank space that we have between our water elements and our castle. And let's create two lines that later on we will turn into the stairs. Let's create something like that. We'll create one line going diagonal like that and another line going in that way when we have it. If you want to add more details onto this little scheme, you can go and do that. For example, let's just go to the sides on the top part and we will create some elements that later on we will turn into the clouds, for example. Going over our right part, firstly, go into this blank space that we have between our trees. We will create a line going in that way. When you have it, you can leave it as it is. Or if you want, you can go and create the shape of the cloud here. When you have it on one side, let's move on to the opposite one. And let's do something similar here. You can repeat the same line going on the bottom. Then if you want, you can go and turn it into a cloud. You can repeat the same shape or play around and find something different. The same way you can go over one of the sides on the top and add an element that later on you will turn inside the moon, for example. Let just go over our right part and let's create a little shape like that. We will go with a simple shape of the circle. We will hold our apple pencil at the end of the line. And also we will hold one of our fingers there too, when you have it. We then will go over the top part and we will create another little circle there. In that way, we will cut this piece that we have on the top one more time. Hold your apple pencil at the end of the line. Hold one of your fingers on the screen, just the size. When you are done, let us go grab and erase our tool and erase this part that we don't need. Now when we have something like that, let's just go to this middle part where we have no objects and we will go and create some bushes. What we are going to be doing is just going right between our little trees and we will create the lines going in that way you can play around and find something that works for you. And later on we will work more on that and we will create better shapes. For now, let's just go and create a few lines going in that way. In that way we will fill our blank pieces When you are satisfied with your elements, let's one more time go to our layers. We'll go to our layer with scheme two. And again, we will go and change the capacity on this layer. Let's just tap on our icon. And let's just drag our little slider toward the left side, find the opacity level that works for you. Now you can notice that our scheme that was before and our scheme that we just created are the same color. We can just go and make it a little bit different later on, It will be easier for us to create our actual sketch. Let's just go to the magic one tool that you can find on the top left. It is the second icon. We will tap on it and we will go to hue saturation. And brightness. Here we can see on the bottom we have our sliders. We will go to the hue slider. We will grab it and we will find the color that will be a little bit different from what we have on our. First, let's find something that will be contrast. If you need to go to the saturation or to the brightness, go and adjust them, Just find something that will be contrast. When you are done one more time, we will tap on our magic one tool to deselect everything. Now we are ready to move on to our next part where we identificating our actual skitch. 4. Sketch: Now when we know where we need to put our objects, let's just go to our list and we will create one more layer that will rename as Sketch. When we have a new layer, we are going to our color palettes and we will select this very contrast color with the name Pink. We will use the same brush and we will go to our little scheme and we will try to define our objects even more. Firstly, let's just go and create our trees. We will go to the left element that we have on the bottom. What we're going to be doing is just going along these lines that we have for our triangle, but we will be creating different shapes. Let's just go and create little bumps with the curves. Something like that. You can play around with the position of these elements. You can play around with the curvature, with everything that you want to play around with. You just need to create little bumps that will look like the tree. You can make it very cartoony or you can make it a little bit more to the real life world. When you have something like that, If you need to erase some parts, grab an eraser tool and erase them. And then we will go to the opposite side and we will create a few more curves that will represent our branches. Let's just go and create something similar to what we have on our right. You don't need to make the sides even on both sides, so we don't have it in real nature. If you need to erase some parts, if you need to adjust some parts, go grab an eraser two and adjust the elements. When you are done with the first tree, let's just go over the rest of them and let's create something similar here. You can again go and create different shapes, different sizes. If you want, you can go and create the trunks of the trees. It's all up to you. Let's just go over our left side and let's create our trees here. When we have our trees on the left, let's move on to the right. And let's do something similar here. Firstly, let's just go to one of these triangles, and let's turn it into a tree. Let's just go to the part that we have, more toward the center. Again, the same way as before, just creating some lines that will represent the tree. When you are done, let's turn these two remaining triangles into the trees too. Now let's just go inside these shapes that we have created for our trees. And let's add some additional elements there. We'll need to make sure that they look just like the trees. We will just need to go and add some little parts inside that will represent the branches. We can go very easily just with lines like that here and there. Just add a few elements. When you are done, let's just work on our water elements. Let's just go and recreate what we have here, but we also will go over our right part and we will add a bit of land here. Firstly, let's just go over the left and we will try to recreate what we have on our scheme. When we've reached our tree on the right, we will go underneath it and we will create a little element like that. We are creating some kind of land here. When we have it, we will go to the bottom and we will create another piece of land here. Again, if you want, you can go and merge these two elements together. So you can just go and overlap it and create another element like that. Just a wobbly sheep when you are done and if you need to adjust some elements, if you need to erase some overlapping parts, go grab and erase tool and erase the parts that you don't need. Now we will need to add some additional elements to our land parts. For example, let's just go and create a few bumps like that. And into these bumps we can go and create some leaves, for example. Let's just go right in the middle part and we will create a little stem like that. And then we'll go to the sides and we will create a few leaves. If you want, you can create some different shapes. But when you are ready with these little elements, let's just go to the sides of our land parts. And we will add a few lines that will represent the grass. So we're just going there and creating the lines going in that way. The same thing we will do onto our left. This part that we have on the bottom is our land element two. Let's just go there and we will create some lines that will represent the graphs. Let's just go over the H and we will create a few elements in that way. Now let's just go and add these little bushes. Firstly, let's just go to our layers, and let's create one more layer. We are going to be creating the overlapping parts, so it will be easier for us to get back to the previous layer and erase the parts that we don't need. Now let's just go over our left part. And we will be starting by creating some bumps that will represent the bushes. What we're doing is going there and creating something like that. If you want to pick up some antros brush, you are welcome to go and do that very boldly. Just go there and create some pattern with these bumps. Now, when we have something like that, let's just get back to our lies. We will go to our Lia with this sage. We will grab our eraser tool and we will go to the spars that we have inside these little bushes, and we will erase them. When we are ready, we can get back to our Lia where we have our bushes, and we can merge it with our Lia before if you want to change the color to make it similar to what you have on your actual scag. You can do it in that way. You can just tap on this layer and select alpha log. When you have the alpha log turned on, you can end the details only on the existing areas that you have onto this layer. So you won't be aiding the additional elements. You will be recoloring the lines that you have here. Only what we need to do right now is to get back to our brush library and select some brush that will help us to recolor these lines. For example, we can go into the inking folder or into the calligraphy. And if you're going into the calligraphy, let's select monoline brush. We will go then back to our color palettes. And we will select the same color that we're using for our actual skitch When we did it, we will go and increase the size of our brush, and we'll go over these lines that we have for our bushes, and that's easy, you can recover the lines. Now, one more time, let's just get back to our brush library. We will go to the sketching folder. We'll select the similar brush that we were using before. When you are done, we will get back to our layers and we'll merge these two layers together. What we need to do is to go to our layer on the top, tap on it, and select Merge down. Now let's just get back and let's continue adding our details. Now let's just go to this part that we have on our left and we will add a little cave Here we are stepping a little bit from our water elements and we are creating a shape like that you can play runs with the size on this element. And when you have it, we will step a little bit from this line and we will create the same line going on the top. When we have something like that, we can go inside the shape and we can shade it. Later on we will know what we are doing. Now when we have something like that, let's just go to the lines that we have in the middle and we will turn them into the stairs. What we need to do is to go to the lines, and firstly, we are going to the line on the bottom. Let's just go and recreate this line when we have it. We will step a bit from it to the right and we will create a parallel line there. Let's just go and repeat it. You can hold your line at the end to make it straight. If you need to adjust the angle, just move it from side to side when you have it. Let's just go to our eras er, two and we will erase these lines that we don't need in the middle. When we have these two lines, we will just go between them and we will start aiding the horizontal lines like that. For now, we are creating just a scag. Later on we will make it a little bit cleaner. Don't worry if you are not very straight with these lines. Now, when we have this part of our letter, let's just go over the top and we will do the same thing. Here we are firstly going over the line that we have on our left. From it, we are just creating a line going up in that way. If you want, you can adjust the angle on this element. You are done. We are going to the parallel line that we have on the right. And from it we are creating another parallel line that is going up. When we have it, we are going to create these horizontal lines. Again, if you have the parts that you need to erase, firstly go and erase that. Also on the top, we can, we can add the actual steps. For example, let's just go to one of the sides, for example, the left one. And we will go and create the lines in that way. We are just connecting our steps with the lines that are straight. Again, if your lines are not too straight right now, don't worry. We will fix it later on. Now let's just go over the top and we will add two lines like that. When we have it, we will go to the bottom of our stairs and we will add a bit of thickness there. We will go to the intersection right here. From this intersection we will go down with a little shape like that. When you have it, we will grab our eraser tool and we will erase these lines on the bushes that we have. Now let's just move on to the top and let's create our castle. Firstly, let's just go to the straight vertical lines that we have here. And we will recreate that if you want to make it a little bit thinner, you are welcome to go and do that. Now we are creating these lines and then we'll go to the top and we will start creating our roof. For the roof, let's just go with the curves like that. We are going to the triangle that we have here, but we are creating the lines in that way. When you have it on the first side, do the same on the opposite side, you can play around with the curvature on these lines. It's all up to you when you have this element. Let's just go to the bottom of it and let's connect these two lines with another curve. This curve will look like that. As always, you can hold your apple pencil at the end of the line to adjust the curvature. Also, you can go over the top to the editing mode to adjust it even more. Let's just end up with something like that. And when you are done, we will go away from our editing mode by tapping on our screen now and start adding some details. For example, let's just go right underneath this line that we have just created. And we will create a parallel line going on the bottom when you have it. We will just go and create a little element on the sides to connect it with our roof. We will grab our eraser tool and we will erase all the lines that we don't need. Now we will go to the top of our roof and we will create a line going up in that way we are creating some pol onto this pool. We will go and create a little flag, go to one of the sides and create a shape like that if you want to add some additional elements or if you want to play runs with the details, you are welcome to do it. When you have these elements, let's just go to our tower. Let's create some additional elements here. For example, let's just go and create some windows. We will go to the top part and we will create a shape like that if you want to go inside of it and if you want to create these window elements, you are welcome to go and do that. Now let's just go to this part that we have on the left and let's create another shape that we will turn into our castle. Let's just go to the top part and we will recreate it. We will create a curve going in that way. When we have it, we will go down with the straight lines. Let's create something like that. When you have it, let's just grab the razor tool and let's erase this line that we have from our tower. Now when we have this element, we will go over the top of it and we will add the roof. What we need to do is to create something in that way. Let's just tap a bit from this line and let's create the lines in that way. We are creating something similar to what we have for our roof of this tower, but our top is not that pointy. When you have it, we will go grab our eraser tool and we will erase all of these overlapping parts. When you have it, again, we will go down with the straight lines. Now let just go to the curve that we have on the top and we will add some thickness to it. So what we need to do is to just go a little bit higher and repeat the same line. Now grab the eraser tool and erase the lines that you don't need. Remember that you can always go and create your own designs. Now let's connect this part with our main shape. So we will just go to the sides and we will create the lines in that way. We will do it on both sides. Now when we're down on the top, let's just go to this object that we have in the middle. We will add some details here too. Firstly, let's just go to the top of it and we will create another line. In that way, we are just repeating the line that we have on the top, but we are making it in sides. When we have it, we are going to the sites and we are creating a little shapes like that. And then we will go down and create another line that is parallel to the line that we already have. We will do the same on the opposite side. When you are done, we will go to the middle on this element and we will create a line going down in that way. Now when we have the shape, let's just go to the top element and we will go and end the lines going in that way. When we are done, we will go inside of our elements and we will add the lines that will later represent our bricks. Let's just go firstly and start creating the lines going in a horizontal axis. Then we will create a few lines going on a vertical axis. We will do something similar to the roof that we have on the right and to the whole body of our tower. For the tower, we will need to go and recreate the lines that we have right here on the top. It is not just a straight building, but it is some circular. What we need to do is to create a couple of our little curves like that. Again, if you want, you can go and add a few lines that will be vertical. As for the roof, we will go and create some lines like that. Now what we need to do is to recreate the shape that we have for our tree. And also we will need to add our clouds. Firstly, let's just go to this little triangle that we have here, and let's turn it into a tree, for example, let's just go there and let's create trunks. We will create two lines like that, and also we will create a double track. Let's just go and create one more element like that. When you have it, we will go to the top of our triangle and we will turn it into the tree the same way as we did before. Play runs with the shape. If you need to adjust something, grab the eraser tool and erase the parts that you don't need. Now let's just go back to our brush and let just go and recreate our little clouds. Firstly, let's just go over our right and we will recreate this line that we have on the bottom. Let's just hold it at the end. When we have the straight line, let's just work more on the shape of our cloud. Let's just make it more flowing. What we need to do is to create a different shape. For example, let's just go and create something in that way when you have it on the right. Let's just go to the left and do something similar here. You can put this cloud on the same line, or you can go and put it higher or lower. Let's just start by recreating this line that we have on the bottom again, let's just create a flowy shape. What we need to do is to create something like that. If you have some lines that are overlapping, you can go grab and erase our tool and erase the parts that you don't need. In the same way we will go and recreate the shape for our moon. Let's just go and recreate very easily, just with the same lines that we have on our scheme. Now when we are mostly done, let's just go to our layers and we will hide our layers with the schemes. What we need to do is to go to both of these layers that we have, our schemes. And we will need to go to these little check marks and tap on the. Now, let's just look at the whole illustration in general and if we want to add some details or if we want to adjust some parts, let's just go and adjust it. Let's just get back to our layers and let's unhide our first layer with the scheme because we are going to be creating this element on the circle and we need to make sure that everything is looking nice in accordance with this circle. Let's just take a look at the whole illustration in general, and if you want to go and add some details, you are welcome to go and do that. For example, you can go to the land parts and add a few more elements as a grass. Or if you want to go over the top and add some sparkles, you are welcome to go and do that. And when you are satisfied with your sketch, we are ready to move on to our next part, where we are going to be aiding our clean lines. 5. Clean Lines: We have our sage, it's time to start aiding our clean lines. Firstly, let's just go to the brush library. And we will go into the inking folder here, we'll select technical pen. While we are still here, into our brush library, let's just go and adjust our brush. We want all of our lines to be very smooth. Let's just go and tweak one option. Let's just tap onto our technical pen. And here in the brush studio, we'll go under stabilization. We have the option streamline which has a slighter amount. If it's set at a very low amount, we can go to drawing pad and check out how our brush works. We can just go and create a line and you will see that you have a lot of control over your line, but your line is a little bit jagged. If you want everything to be very smooth, you can go with the maximum amount of streamline. Also, you can just go to the drone path and check out how it works. You can see that it's a very smooth line, but if you want to adjust the control over your line, you just need to go to the slider amount and find what works for you. When you found what works for you, let just it down over the top right. And we will go and create one more layer. Firstly, we are going to our layers and we are tapping on the plus icon. This layer we will use to recreate our circle. You can just leave it as it is without renaming it. Or if you want, you can go and rename it also while we are still here into our layers. Let's just go to our layer with this gauge and we will go and change the capacity level of this layer. We know how to do that. We are going to our icon, we are going to our slider with capacity. And we are dragging our slider toward the left side until we still can see what's happening onto this layer. But when it's not that bright, when you find the amount of capacity that works for you, let's just get back to our new layer. And then we will go to our color palette and we will select dark purple color. Firstly, we are getting back to our canvas and we are recreating this circle again the same way as before. We are just going there with one line. We are not lifting up our apple pencil, and we are holding it at the end to make sure that it is a perfectly round circle. We are holding one of our fingers on the screen, and if we need to adjust the size, we will move our apple pencil from side to side. Also, we can go to our top, to the editing mode and adjust the size of this element and its position. Let just go and create the elements. And when you are done, we will just tap on the screen. If you have a little gap like that, you can go and manually adjust it. Now when we have our circle, we will get back to our layers one more time and we will create one more layer. This layer we will rename as lines. Now our main goal is to go to our objects that we have on the sketch and recreate them. All that we need to do here is to create closed lines. The closed lines means that we don't have any gaps between our elements. This is closed and this is not. Now very quickly, let's just go and recreate our objects. And remember that we are creating a piece of art, so you don't need to recreate everything with 100% of similarity that you have on your sketch. If you want to adjust something, if you want to add something, you are welcome to go and do that very quickly. Let's just go and create our lines for the straight lines that we have to our illustration. Let's just use one option that procreate has. We will need to go under range icon here in the actions. We will go under canvas. We will total drawing guides. And when you do that, you will see that the cells are going through the whole shape of your canvas. That's exactly what we need, but we will need to turn on one option. Let's just go under eight and drawing guides here on the bottom, we will total assisted drawing. When we're done with this task, we will hit down over the top. Right now we will go to our objects that have our straight lines and we will just go and use this assisted drawing. So what we need to do firstly is to go to our stairs and just go in there and creating the line. You will see how easy we can do that. Let's just go and add our steps. And now we will go to the steps that we have on the top and we will add the vertical lines the same way we will add the straight lines to the top part of our stairs and to our castle. When you are done with adding your straight lines, let's just go again to the range icon and we will toggle Drawing Guide. We will get rid of these guiding lines. And then we will need to go to our layers. And you will see that our layer with the lines is now assisted. If we go to our canvas and if we try to create something here, you will see that we still creating the straight lines. We will need to go and manually turn it off. We will need to tap on our layer with the lines. And we will need to select drawing a list from the list. Now when we have just a clean layer, let's just go and continue aiding our lines. When you are done with your main lines, let's just go to our layers and we will hide our layer with this gauge. And with this scheme, we will take a look at the whole illustration. And now we will need to decide what we want to keep. If we want, we can go to these parts where we have our circle overlapping the objects, and we can erase this little parts so our objects are in front. Or if you want, you can go and hide these little parts, for example, on the trees on the bottom and erase them. We have two layers for that part and we just need to go and decide what we want to keep. Let's just go to our layer with the circle. We will grab our eraser tool, and if we want to erase some lines, we will go and erase them. If you want to go and erase these lines on the trees, you will need to go to the layers and go to your layer with the lines and go over these little elements and eras. When you are done with erasing lines, let's just check out whether all of our lines are closed and then we can move on to our next part where we are going to be aiding our base colors. 6. Basic Colors: Lets add our color, in part by changing the color of our background. What we need to do is to go to our layers and go to our layer with background color. Let's tap on it, and let's select background color from our color palette. When we did it, we will see that we have changed the background color. Now let's just go and do a few more things that will help us to add the colors to our whole illustration. Firstly, we would need to go and add the color to the background of our illustration, to this object that we have as a circle. Let's just go again to our layers. What we need to do is to go firstly and hide our layer with the lines. You can see that this object that we have here has some gaps that we've made before. And we will need to go and create a similar shape, but it should be solid. What we need to do is to go to this layer where we have our circle on. And we'll need to make two duplicates. To make a duplicate, we will need to swipe our layer from right to left and choose duplicates when we did it the first time. Let's just do it one more time, swiping from right to left and choosing duplicates. Now we will go to this layer that we have on the top, and we will go to our arrow key on the top left. We also will go to the bottom part and we will choose flip vertical. When we do that, you can see that we have a solid circle right now. Let's just deselect everything by hitting our arrow key one more time. Then we will get back to our layers and we'll merge these two layers together, the one on the top and one underneath it. Let's just tap on this layer on the top and we will choose merge down. Now if we go to our layer number four where we have our circle with gaps and we will hide it, we will see that we have this object that we can use later on to add the background color. Now let's do the following. Firstly, we will go back to our layers and we will go to our layer with the sketch. From this layer, we will create one more layer that we will rename as circle background. Now we will return to our layer with the solid outline that we have for our circle. We will tap on it and we will choose reference from the list. When we're selecting reference, we are using these lines that we have on this layer on different layers. Now if we get back to our layer with circle background, we can just go and end the color inside this ship. Let's first go to our color palettes. And let's select one color with the name, Pink. With this color, we will just go and dragon drop the color inside the object. When we are done, we are getting back to our layers and now we can return to our layer with the solid outline. We can tap on it and we can turn off reference. And also we can just go and hide this layer because we don't need it anymore. Now let's just go and work more onto this little sheep. We want to add a few more colors and we want to create a gradient here. But what we need to do is to add the colors only on the existing areas that we have onto this layer. We will need to go and turn on one option. Let's just tap on our layer with circle background and let's select alpha lock. You will see that you have the checkerboard around your elements in the layers panel. And that's exactly what we need. That means that we can end the details only on the existing areas that we already have onto this layer. Now let's just go and select a different brush. So we are going to the brush library. We are going to the calligraphy folder, and we are selecting monoline brush, it just the size of it. And let's just go back to our color palettes and let's select a few more colors. For example, let's start by selecting the color with the name, Magenta Pink. With this color, we will step a little bit from our top part of this shape and we will just add a line like that when you have it. We will go again to our color palettes and we will select the next color, greyish magenta, pink. With this color, we will go underneath this little element that we have, we will add the second color. You don't need to be very precise, just create the color. And when you are done, we will get back to our color palette and we will select light orange color. We will go and recolor the bottom part of this object. When we are done, we are ready to add the gradient and we can add it by going to our magic 12, going under Gaussian blur. And then you can see on the top, we have the option Gaussian blur, 0% If we hold our apple panel at our screen, and if we move it more toward the right side, you will see that we are adding some blur. So find what works for you and create a very smooth gradient. Something like 60, 65% will work best. When you are done, let just hit our magic one tool one more time to get away from this mode. And now when you're ready with this task, let's just go back to our layers. And let's unhide our layer with the lines and with our line that we have for the outside of the circle. This is our layer underneath this layer number four where we have our solid one. We also will need to go and merge these two layers together. So we are going to this layer with our solid line and we are dragging it up. To drag it up, we will just need to hold it and drag it up. Now when we have these two layers, one underneath another, we are going to the top layer. We are tapping on it and we are choosing merged down. Now all of our lines are on one layer. And you can notice that we lost the title of this layer. Let's just tap on this layer and rename it as lines one more time. Now we will need to set this layer as reference, so we are able to add the colors on different layers. Let's just tap on our layer with the lines and let's select reference from the lists. Now we will go to our layer with circle background. And from here we will create one more layer that we will rename as trees, the same way as before. Firstly, we will go to our color palettes. We will go to our blue section and we will start adding the colors gradually from darker to lighter one. Firstly, we will select the color with the name Blue one and we will drag it to this tree that we have on the bottom. Now let's just go and start selecting the lighter colors, and let's add them to the rest of the trees. The same thing we will do on our right. Let's just go to our bottom parts. And let's start from here with the darker color. You can play runs with these colors. You can find what works for you. You don't need to repeat everything completely the same way as you see it on your screen. It's your time to play. When you are done with recoloring the trees, let's just go and add the colors to our trunks. We will use the same color that we're using for our lines. So let's just get back to our color palettes and let's select dark purple color. We will go and drag and drop the color to the needed less. When you are done with the trees, let's just get back to our layers and let's create one more layer that we'll rename as River. With this new layer, we will get back to our color palettes. We will select the light, sea, and blue color, and we will drag it to this object that we have as our water. When you are done one more time, we are getting back to our lis and we will create a new layer for the rest of the objects. Let's start with the layer with the name bushes. When we have our Er, we will get back to our color palettes and we will select some color. For example, let's go with magenta pink. Or with pink, we will use this color to add it to these places that we are going to be using for our bushes. We also can use the similar color to the areas where we have some ***. If you want to adjust the colors or if you want to use the different ones, you are welcome to do it. For example, when you choose the color and when you want to adjust it, you can go to the magic want to the hue saturation and brightness. And play with these sliders. For example, let's just go and maybe make these elements a little bit darker or lighter when you found what you like. Let's just tap on our magic one tool one more time to get away from this mode. Now let's just go and recolor the rest of the elements. So firstly, we are going back to our layers and we are creating a new layer, let's rename it as clouds. Then we will get back to our color palettes. We will select the white color and we will drag and drop the color to these needed places. When you are done, we are getting back to our lier and we will create a new layer for our castle. When we are done, we will get back to our color palettes and let's select the color with the name, pink. With this color, we will go to the main shape that we have for our castle, the body of the castle, and we will add this color here. You can see that when you are putting one color to one place on the top, you have the option continue filling. You can just select it and then go to the objects that you want to recolor and tap on them and recolor them in that way. When you are done with adding the color to the main shape of our castle, let's just go to the steps and let's recolor them with the same color as well. And when we are done with this color, we will need to go back to our top where we have color drop option and we will need to tap onto this little check mark. When you are done with this color, let's just go and select another color that we will use on our roof and on other objects that belong to our castle, for example. Let's just go with some blue color. Let's just go with blue number three. With this color, we will go to the top and we will add the color to the roof. We also can try to add this color to the door and to our object on the stairs. When you are done, let's just tap on our little check mark. And let's just go and select some different colors. For example, let's go with light orange. With this color, we will go and add it to these elements on the door if you want to end it somewhere else. For example, on this little moon, go and edit. And now with the same color, let's just go and create one more layer for our miscellaneous objects. Let's just go with the same color to all these objects that we have on the top, and we will add this color to top. Also, lets just go to the top and we will recover our flag, our little cave, and also this little element that we have right here near the tree. Firstly, let just get back to our color palette and let's choose some color for the top flag. Let's select some blue color. You can try out different variations on the colors and find what works for you when you found the need color. Let's just go to the cave and we will firstly recolor this little shape that we have between two lines. You can go with the same blue or with the purple color and add this color to the part. When you are done, we will go inside this little cave and we will add the same color that we use for our lines. One more time, let's just get back to our color palette and let's select the color with the name, dark purple. When we have it, we will just drag and drop the color inside. If you have this little gap between your elements, you can go and adjust it manually. Now let's just go and add the same color that we used for our bushes to this little part right here underneath our trees on the right. Let's firstly go to our layer that belongs to the bushes, and we will need to go and select the same color that we have here. But as you can remember, we were changing our color so we don't have it into our color palette. We will need to go to our canvas and we will need to pick the color from here. To do so, we will just need to go to the color that we want to select. And we will need to hold one of our fingers there. You can see you have created this little tool and we will need to just select this color that we have on the top. When you are done, we are going to these little places and we will just recolor them. Now let's just go and pick some color to these little elements on our land, for example. Let's just go with some purple color. Now take a look at your whole illustration in general and think about whether you want to adjust some parts. For example, if you think that maybe your castle is a little bit too bright for the whole picture, you just need to go to the needed layer and go to the hue, saturation and brightness and adjust it. You can go and adjust only the elements that you want to adjust. For example, you don't want to adjust the color of your roof and other elements, you just want to adjust the color of your castle. You can go to the top where you have hue saturation and brightness. Tap on this little arrow down and select pencil. When you have it on, you can just go over the places that you want to recolor and select them and then recolor by using the hue slider. When you've selected the whole area, you can go to your sliders and as the color. And when you are done, we will tap on our magic one tool one more time and we are ready to move on to our next part where we are going to be aiding our details. 7. Shadows & Highlights: Let's start this part by going to our layers. Firstly, we will go to earlier with the lines and we will turn off reference because we don't need it anymore. Let's just step on the layer and let's select preference from the list when we've gotten rid of our reference. Let's just start by adding some shadows to the trees. We will go to earlier with the trees and we'll create one more layer from here. Let's just tap on the plus icon and let's remain this layer as shadows. We wouldn't want to add the shadows on the existing areas that we have on the previous layer, but we want to add them on a separate layer. We will need to use something like alphalog on the separate layer. We have this option in procreate and it is called Clipping mask. Let's just tap on our layer with shadows, and we will select Clipping Mask from the list. When we did it, we will need to do one more thing. We will need to change the b***ding mode on this layer. B***ding modes are different ways your lists can interact with each other. When you are changing b***ding modes, you can adjust the visual effects on the layer and the whole picture. In general, for the shadows we are going to be using multiply b***ding mode. Let's just go and turn it on. We will need to go to our icon near the checkbox. And from this list we will need to select multiply. As for the capacity for now, let's just go with 50% If it's not enough or if it's too much, we can always get back to this option and we can adjust it. We are done with the task. Let's just go and select our color. Let's just go to the color palettes. And let's go to this blue area and select some color from here. If you want, you can try out different colors if you don't like the first one. You can always go back to your color palette and select another one and find what works for you. Just for example, let's go and select color with the name Blue Three. With this color, we will go to the bottom parts of our trees and we will add our shadows here. But firstly, let's just get back to our brush library. We will go to the ink and folder and we will select Technical Pen if you would like to go to the brush studio, to the stabilization, to the streamline, and adjust the amount you are welcome to go and did. Now let's just go to our left side and we will start by creating some shadows here. Let's start from this tree that we have on the bottom left. Let's go to the bottom, and let's start creating wavy lines like that. You don't need to be precise. You don't need to follow any direction. You just need to create some shadow that will turn it into the texture. When you have the line, let's just go underneath it and we will recolor this area manually. We will go to all of these little parts that are some protruding and we will add the shadows underneath them too. Let's just go firstly to this area. Let's add a little shadow, just recreating the line that we have. Then we will add two more shadows underneath these two more protruding parts. If you want to add more shadows or if you want to add more texture with the little elements, you are welcome to go and do that. You can go and add some dots or maybe some lines to some parts. If you need to adjust some parts, you are welcome to go and grab the eraser to. And as the parts that you don't need in the same way, with the same color, we will go through all of these trees that we have on our left and we will do the same thing here. Let's just go mostly to the bottom parts of our trees and let's start adding some wavy lines to add some texture to our trees. When you have the outlines, just go underneath them and add the color insight. Now let's just go and add more shadows underneath our little protruding parts. If you want to add some additional elements such as dots or lines, you are welcome to go and do that. Now let's just go through all the rest of our trees and do the same thing. Let's just go to the bottom parts. We will start from creating the lines that are wavy more on the bottom and underneath our little protruding parts, and we will add the shadows to them. When you are done, we are ready to add some highlights to our trees. We will do the same thing as we did with our shadows. We will just go to the layers and we will create one more layer here. Let's just tap on the plus icon and let's rename it as highlights. Let's clip this layer to a previous one. Tap and selecting clipping mask. And then we will go and change the b***ding mode to add or over lay. When we did it, we will go back to our color palettes and we will select the white color. Now we will go to the opposite from our shadow side and we will add little highlights. Let's just go firstly over our right side. We will go to this part on the top and we will go through our little outline and we will add the highlight in that way. Also can go and add some texture with your highlights. You can just go and add some dots or maybe some lines. In the same way, we will go through all of our trees and we will add our little highlights. When you are done, let's continue adding some additional elements. Firstly, we will get back to our layers and we will go to our next layer, which is our layer with river. Let's just go and add some gradients to it. Firstly, we will go and type on our layer with river and we will select Alpha Lock. When we have it, we will go back to our brush library. We will go to the ear brushing and we will select medium b***d brush. We will use the same white color and we will go and adjust the size of our brush. We will go to the bottom part of our water element and we will start adding some additional color here, very softly. Go there and add the white color by creating a little gradient. If you already did it or if you have some very seen intersection between two colors, you always can go to your magic want to Gaussian blur and add the blur from here. When you have your elements the same way as you want it, let's just go to our magic anto and deselect everything. We then will go and add some additional elements to our river. Firstly, let's just get back to our brush library. We will get back to our inking folder and we will select our technical pen with the same white color. We will just go inside our river and we will start adding some lines in that way, basically just follow the direction on the lines that you already have onto this element and add some highlights to the water. You can go with some waves. You can go with some little dots or just little lines. When you are ready with adding the highlights to the river element, Let's continue by adding the details to the bushes one more time. We are going to our lies. We are selecting our li with the bushes. From here we will create one more layer. We will rename it as details. Let's clean this layer to a previous one. So we are tapping on it and we are selecting clipping mask. We won't be changing our b***ding mode, we will just go to our color palettes and we will start selecting different colors. For example, let's start with magenta pink, two color, we will go to the bottom parts of our elements, more towards the middle part of them and toward the bottom part. And we will start adding different colors here. Firstly, let's just go somewhere to our middle part of the illustration. And let's start from here. We will go again with some lines that are creating some texture and we will start creating our elements very randomly. Just go and start creating the waves. And then when you have the outline, just go down and recreate these elements with this color. You also can go and create the outlines along the whole shape that you want to recolor. And then you can just drag and drop the color inside. Also, if you are dragging and dropping, and if you still have this little gap between your outlines and the color that you want to put in, don't lift your apple pencil and just move it toward the right until you don't have this little gap. Now when you have the first element recolored, let's just go through all of our bushes and also onto our lands. And we will add the same color to all of them. Go into the bottom part of our elements. When you are done, we will go and select a different color. For example, let's just go and select the color with the name purple Two, with this color on the same layer, we will go more to the bottom of these elements that we have just created and we will add the second color to them. Again, just go in with our shapes and we are creating the outlines that will add some texture. When you are done, put in the second color, we can go to this transition between two colors and we can make it more soft. We can go to match two and we will go right between these two shapes and we will just merge them together. By b***ding them that way, you can go through all of these shapes that you have just created or just to some of them and b***d the colors together. If you want to go and adjust the intensity on the colors, you can just go to your layers. Go to your layer with the details, go to the icon and adjust the opacity of this layer. When you are done with this task, when you're satisfied with the b***ding and with everything that you have onto this layer, let's just go and start adding some highlights. Again, we are creating a new layer above our layer with the details and we will rename it as highlights. Let's clean this layer to a previous one. And also let's just go to our icon and change the b***ding mode to overlay. We will go then to our color palettes and we will select the white color. We will go and make sure that we are using technical pen brush. And we will go to these parts that are opposite from our shadows and we will add our highlights on them. Let's just go and do that. If you want to add some additional elements, some dots or maybe some lines, you are welcome to go and add them. When you are done, let's continue adding our additional elements to the clouds. Firstly, we are going to our layers. We are selecting our layer with the clouds and above it we are creating one more layer. Let's rename this layer as Details. Let's clean this layer to a previous one. And we don't want to change the b***ding mode here. Let me just go back to our color palette and let's select some pinkish color. Or if you want, you can go with purple one. When you have the color, we will get back to our brush library. We will go to the air brushing medium b***d. And we will go to our bottom parts of our clouds. And we will start adding solved gradients there again, if you overdid it or if you want to make a smoother b***d. Let's just go to our magic anu Gaussian blur and add some Gaussian blur from here. When you are satisfied, let's just get away from this mode by hitting our magic an to, and then we are ready to move on to our next layer. Let's just get back to our layers. We will go to our castle and we will create one more layer above that we'll rename as Shadow. Let's clip it to a previous layer typing clip in mask. And we will go to our icon and we will select multiply b***ding mode for the capacity we are using 50% Now let just get back to our brush library, inking folder, technical pen, and we will use some darker color to add our shadows. Again, you can go either with some pinkish color or with purple when you have it. Let's just go to some areas where we can add our shadows. And let's just go and add the shadows. So firstly, we will go underneath the roof and we will start adding the shadows repeating the lines that we have on our roof. If you want to add some additional shadows to your elements, you are welcome to go and do that. If you want to add the shadow to your roof, you are welcome to do it too. And of course, if you want to add some additional elements, some dot, some lines again, you're welcome to do it. Now, let's just go to our stairs and we will go to every step that we have here, and we will add our shadow to the bottom part of them. We also can go to this little part that we have on the left from our stairs, and we can add the shadow here too. When you are ready, let's just go and start adding some highlights. Again, we are going to our layers. We will create one more layer above our layer with the shadow, and we will rename it as highlights. Let's clip it to a previous layer, and let's go and change the b***ding mode to overly. We will go then to our color palettes and we will select the white color. We will go to the opposite sides from our shadows, and we will add our highlights. Some dots, lines, and sparkles are welcome. When you are done, let's just get back to our layers and we will go to our miscellaneous objects. If we want to add something there, we are welcome to go and do that. For example, if you want to add a little shadow to your flag or to your moon, you are welcome to go and do that the same way as with highlights. For example, let's just go and create one more layer above. We will rename it as Highlights. And we will go over the top parts of our objects and we will add some sparkles there. When we are ready with these parts, let's just get back to our layers and we will create one more layer onto this layer. We will add a few more details. Let's just tap on this layer and let's rename it as details. We will then go to our brush library. We will go to the calligraphy folder and we will choose monoline brush. We will go to some of our objects and to our background and we will add some dots, for example. Let's just go to our color palettes and let's select some purple color. With this purple color, we will go to our clouds, to the bottom part of them, or to some of the parts that you want to add some different elements. You are welcome to go and add some dots here. If you want to use a different color, you are welcome to go and select it. If you want to go through the background and add some additional elements there, you are welcome to do it too. Also, you can go and change the color of the lines that you have on these miscellaneous objects. To do so, we will need to go back to our layers. And we will need to find our layer with the lines and select it. Above this layer, we will create one more layer and we will need to clip this layer to our layer with the lines. Let's just tap on it and let's select Clipping Mask. Now we will go to these little objects that we have here. We will select the same color that we have on them. We will go along these lines that we have and we can go and recolor them. If you have these little gaps, you will need to get back to the layer where we have these little objects and you will need to recolor these little lines. So let me just go through all of these little miscellaneous objects and let's recolor their lines. And when he did it, now it's time to take a look at your picture and figure out whether you want to adjust some parts. So for example, if you want to go and adjust the intensity of your shadows or of other elements, you are welcome to go and do that. If you want to go to this background color that you have inside the circle and adjust it, you are welcome to go and do that too. All that you need to do is to find the needed layer, go to it, go to the magic wand to go to the saturation and brightness and adjust the color. If you want to go through the layers that you want to adjust, adjust them and when you're satisfied with your picture, we are done with our illustration.
