1. Introduction: Being productive with any graphic design software is just a matter of learning a few keyboard shortcuts and understanding where to find things if you don't know where they are. So in this class, I'll show you more than 50 cool features, tips, tricks, and keyboard shortcuts to become more productive with Canva. And to be honest, I'm not special in any way. I'm just a little bit of a productivity nerd. So over the years, I've watched a ton of YouTube videos and try to discovering hidden tricks myself. And so I will just tell you what features and Shortcuts High know and use to create faster with Canvas. So if you're still open-minded about saving time when creating graphics, logos, banners, presentations, and videos with Canada. I'll see you in the first lesson. 2. Class Project: Awesome, welcome to this class. In this lesson, I'll tell you about the class project, and it's going to be very simple. By the end of this class, I want you to pick and apply a single technique that you learned to any image or object of your choosing. It could be framing and image, turning it into a painting, creating a Canva website or anything that you didn't know how to do before and then post it in the project gallery so others can take inspiration and see the progress you've made. But the main thing I want to emphasize is that it's very important to try out the new things that you learn yourself. You see our brains are not designed for keeping information when we don't put it to use. And that's why I encourage you to open Canva and go along with me pausing the class along the way and trying to keyboard shortcuts and tips yourself as I showcase them. That way you're going to improve your chances of actually remembering them when you need to use them in the future. With that said, I'll see you in the first lesson where you'll learn about Canada keyboard shortcuts. 3. Canva Keyboard Shortcuts: Let's start with Canada keyboard shortcuts. You can quick copy and element by holding Option and dragging, you can show ruler with shift and R. And you can also drag from your ruler to add guides which elements will snap to. You can move objects without them snapping to each other. By holding command, you can press the backslash key to open the hidden search menu and start searching for any object, shape, element or anything. You can select the element that's behind another element by holding command and clicking. You can group elements by selecting them and pressing command plus g. When you group them together, you'll be able to move and resize all of them at the same time without having to fiddle around with each one. You can, of course, ungroup elements with Command Shift G. You can duplicate elements with Command plus D, select all elements with Command plus a, and de-select an element by hitting Escape. It's also really useful to escape out of text boxes. When you finish writing your text, you can send elements backward one step with Command Plus open bracket, or send elements forward one-step with command and closed bracket, you can send elements to the back with command option open bracket and send elements to the front with Command Option close the bracket. You can insert a simple line to your template with the L key. Add a rectangle with the archae at a circle with the C key and add a text box with T when resizing stuff, you can constrain proportions by holding Shift and dragging on the corners. You can scale elements relative to its corner point by holding Alt and dragging the side handles, you can zoom in on your Canva design with Command and plus, and zoom out with Command and minus. Or you can hold Command, scroll on your mouse wheel to zoom in or out. If you want to zoom out to 100%, hit Command Plus zero, you can zoom to fit the screen with Command Option zero. You can undo an action with Command plus z or redo an action with Command Shift Z. You can add a new page with command and return. You can delete an empty page with Command, Delete, add a comment with Command Option M, select multiple elements by holding Shift and clicking on them. You can move elements ten pixels at a time by holding Shift and pressing the arrow keys, you can convert text to all uppercase with Command plus k, you can increase or decrease line spacing with Option plus up or down arrows. You can copy text style with Command Option C. Of course you can copy it with Command C. Paste with Command V, increase the font size with command shift period and decrease it with Command Shift Comma align text in the center with command Shift C aligned text to the left with Command Shift L aligned text to the right with Command Shift R, make it bold with Command B, italicize it with Command I and underline it with Command D. You obviously, all of these shortcuts are hard to memorize all at once. But the good part is that they are usually the same across all photo editing apps like Photoshop for instance. So you only have to learn them once. 4. Canva Tips and Tricks: Let's continue with Canva tips and tricks. You can use Canada keywords to search for cool things when looking for elements in your design type. Gradient, doodle, blob, splatter, neon, washi tape, aesthetic, watercolor, and so on. If you want to edit a PDF, you can just drag it into Canva and the entire text of the PDF becomes editable, then you can read, download it to your PC. It's also possible to turn photos into paintings, select a photo, choose Edit Image tab, and scroll down to Prisma. Select, Use. Pick from any of these styles to turn your image into a painting. If you accidentally grab onto the background elements in your design, you can select them and click the lock icon, which will log that element in place. And you won't be able to move it on some template that the designs Canada won't let you download files with bigger resolutions or increase the resolution once you've finished your design. So if you want to use a certain bigger resolution, you can click Create, Design, Select Custom Size, and enter in your preferred resolution, which you'll be able to download without any constraints. However, speaking of templates, Canada has a ton of them. You can either search for them in the search bar, e.g. a. Cover letter, a YouTube thumbnail, or an Instagram post, or from the homepage, go to templates and browse them by subject trending new and so on. If you have Canva pro, you can remove the background from any image by selecting it in the uploads tab and choosing background remover. Now sometimes all that are designed needs are great colors. And Canada released a separate colors website where you can generate color palettes, get ideas, see what different colors mean. And most importantly, use the color wheel, which lets you find which colors look great together. If you're importing an image into Canva, you don't have to save it to your computer. Simply copy it and paste it into your design. You can also drag and drop images in frames that you can find through the search bar. You can even frame interesting designs into letters to create a letter frame effect to find specific letters. Search for a letter than the letter itself frame. If you select something, you can choose crop at the menu bar and trim parts of your elements. Or even better, double-click on the element to start cropping faster. If you want your texts to curve around the circle, you can select it, go to Effects and then choose curve if you click on your icon on the Canvas homepage and then account settings, you can scroll down and change Canva to dark mode or in the email preferences unsubscribed from Canada emails also, you can de-select the privacy slider, and Canada will not collect your personal data from third party providers. When you highlight an element, you can rotate it or move it around with the two buttons that appear below it. Now something that could bring your texts to life is adding a drop shadow in the effects panel here you can also make your text hollow, add a glitch effect, or make it neon. If you're having trouble aligning your elements, you can select all of them in the position tab and choose tidy up, which will do that for you. If you're creating a PDF, you can add hyperlinks to any element or text within it by right-clicking and choosing link or pressing command plus k and then pasting the link when changing colors of elements, you can use the eyedropper tool by clicking Plus and then eyedropper, which will let you extract colors from other places that you can then use in your design. If you add moving elements to your design or add animations to stationary objects, you can go to Share, download, and then select the GIF to create an animated GIF with your design. What's also useful is that you can create a whole simple website with Canva, search for website in the homepage, and then pick a template that you like. Once you've customized your site, click, Publish as Website, continue, enter any word in the sub-domain, click Continue and then publish. Now, anyone who visits this customer link will be able to view your Canva website when picking an element, you can search for any specific color in the filtering options and the results will show elements with similar colors. In the Edit Image section, you can select the blur tool and blur parts of your image to make the main elements pop out a bit more. This tip, it is also useful in designs like this to separate the background from the foreground to make it even more effective, click on the background and lower the transparency slider just a bit for a better looking separation effect, if you want, you can easily copy and paste pages and elements from one Canva design to another without having to search for them. Again, it's also possible to insert a QR Code through the search bar by searching for QR and then selecting use app-based thing in your URL, and then generating QR code if you found an element that you really like, but it's not quite right. You can select it, click the info icon at the top and choose, see more like this. This will find elements that are similar in some ways, the one you selected, if you click on your profile image, you can also download Canva as a separate standalone app to use on your laptop. You can also make and record a presentation as a screen recording with Canva. When you've made your presentation, click Present and under Type selected, present, and record. Choose Next and go to recording studio. Once you set up access to your microphone and or camera, you can press, Start recording and start presenting. Once you finish, you'll be given a link to share your recording or you can download it to your device by clicking download, you can also copy the style of some elements. If you select an element, click the Format roller icon and then click with it again on the element that you want to paste. The style too. 5. Conclusion: You've reached the end of this class is big. Congratulations for me. And I hope there's at least one keyboard shortcut or trick that you'll take away from it and use in your own creative projects. Of course, the best thing when trying to learn new things is to put them to use. Because if you know a trick exists, there's a very high chance you'll forget it if you don't use it over time. That's why I encourage you to share at least one technique or effect from this course that you applied to any image or object of your choosing in the project gallery. And just one more thing. Could you do me a favor and helped me improve by leaving a review for this course, I want to know what you thought about it. I hope that you enjoyed and gain some knowledge from it. Thank you once again, good luck and I'll see you in a future course.
