1. Introduction: If you've heard that
Pinterest can be agreed traffic generating tool for your website or your
client's website. But you still haven't figured
out quite how it works. Well, in this class, I'm gonna share with you
exactly how to leverage Pinterest to drive free
traffic over to your website, to your store, or even
to your client websites. My name is Judy monkey and I am a Pinterest marketing
expert and strategies. And I've taught hundreds of students grow their
purchase the gowns, and grow their businesses by leveraging Free
Ventures traffic. In this class, I'm
going to walk you through exactly
what is working on Pinterest right now when it
comes to generating traffic, how the Pinterest traffic
cycle works step-by-step, as well as what are
the tips that you need to keep in mind to
optimize your gout for showing up and venture surge and making sure
that you are driving as much free traffic as possible without further
delay. Let's dive in.
2. 3 Things You Need To Drive Traffic: So in this step, we are going to learn
what do you actually need to be driving
traffic from Pinterest? Because of course, there are a few basic things
that you do need if you want to drive
free traffic from Pinterest to your
website or to your blog. The first thing that you need, which is kind of obvious, but a lot of people
maybe don't have that or maybe are not sure if it
would still work for them, if they don't have a
blog or a website. So if you have a
blog or a website, that is great because that is the bare minimum that you
do need to drive traffic. Yes. You can still drive traffic to other
people's websites, to other landing pages
and all of that. But in general, your control of how much
traffic you could drive is going to be much
less if you're only promoting other
people's websites or blogs, because you're not
gonna be able to claim your own website
or your own domain with your Pinterest account. And that is going
to cause, you know, somewhat limited reach when
it comes to driving traffic. The next thing that you
also need in order to be a driving traffic from Pinterest is a Pinterest business account. Now, the reason why I mentioned a Pinterest business
account is because the ability of a
business account to actually connect
with your website, to connect with
your social media, with your Etsy or Shopify. And not only this,
you also have access to analytics when
it comes to having a Pinterest business account versus when you have just
a personal account where maybe you're saving
random few things and you're not really
using it for business. And then you also need
five to ten blog posts or landing pages in order to start writing traffic from
your Pinterest account. Because obviously if you
just create bins which are going nowhere or are
not leading anywhere, you're not going to be set up in the right manner to actually drive traffic from Pinterest.
3. How Long Does It Take?: The other question that I
get asked all the time is, should the how long is it gonna take for me to drive traffic? What should I be doing? How long should I wait
and all of those things. Now, while I want to make it clear that it's not
possible to do this overnight or just have this overnight success
or explosion of traffic. There is a certain timeline that you can work with if you
know what you're doing. If you use a solid
strategy when it comes to a building up your traffic and you know what you're doing, then you can actually start
seeing really good results on Ventures from anywhere
between three to six months. This period can even
be shorter if you know exactly what you're
doing and you'll have the guidance and
support to do it. Now, even with that said, even though it can take
three to six months or maybe longer to drive traffic from Pinterest as
unsustainable traffic, not just a little bit when you compare it to other
platforms like Google, for example, which is
also a search engine. Google wouldn't can actually
take two or three years and even that is a
small amount because most websites or blogs
actually never get to see the first one or two
pages on Google search, which means that you can be working day and night on
your blog or your website. And Google might still decided not to show you if you were
in a competitive niche, if someone else has more links
with you and all of that. That's also one of
the reasons why I do not recommend new bloggers or people who have
a small audience to only rely on Google. Yes, google is a
great traffic source and you should also
always be optimizing your content for Google SU and in the long-run driving
traffic from Google. But what do you do adult
that starts to happen. It's not really under
your control when the search engine
is going to start showing your content to people. Simply because there's a lot of competition and a lot of
websites that have been around for years and decades that will
continue to outrank hue. And that's just how the
Google algorithm works. You can't really change
that as a small publisher. However, when compared
to print Pinterest, where you can start ranking effectively in a month or two. If you know your strategy,
then that is a huge, huge incentive to be
leveraging Pinterest for traffic on top of which traffic from
Pinterest is actually free, at least for now. Who knows if that might
change in the next few years? Because now Pinterest as public and has a lot more pressure to be profitable and be making more money
and all of that. But with that said, it is still a great
time for you to be on Pinterest because you can
still leverage organic reach. There are multiple accounts
that I've created to millions of monthly
viewers and having a hundreds and
thousands of pages from it and are only there's a hundreds of my
students who have gone through the programs
that I've created, how also had similar results. Which means that this
strategy actually works.
4. Pinterest Traffic Cycle: Now maybe you're wondering, well that sounds great surety, but how does this
really work like, what's the step-by-step
process like, how does this look like? I'm going to break
this down really simply by showing
you this graphic. So it all starts by creating
a blog post or a URL. So it can be a blog post that
you create on your website, or it can be a landing page
that let's say you want to promote as an affiliate
or as a marketer. And then the next thing
that you'll do is that you create a bin that is basically summarizing what
the Blockbuster is all about. If you blog post is about how
to cut your hair at home, they spin would say
something like, how do you cut
your hair at home? A step-by-step tutorial
or something like that. After you've created this spin, let's say you designed on Canva. I also have a tutorial on how to use gamble on my channel, which you can check out in
case you need help with that. You then will go to
Pinterest and you will upload this into Pinterest. You're going to go into your
Pinterest business account. You're going to go into Create
button and you're going to upload this bin
right over there. Then once you uploaded
the spin and you've added your pin title,
your description, and all of those things, then they spin is going
to be added to, let's say the circulation
feed on Pinterest. So a circulation on
feed on Pinterest is basically the search
feed that pinterest has, which is a dynamic engine. It's always updating. There's always new pins being
added every single day, every single second,
every single month. And actually there are billions
of bins being added like on a regular basis to Pinterest
pretty much every month. It is possibility open, can't get lost at this stage if you don't know
what you're doing, which is what I'm going
to share with you towards the second
half of this video. But just to make it
clear how this works, Let's go back to this process, which is that once you've been
added to the search feed, what really happens then your job is done
here at this stage, you can just relax and
lay back and be like, All right, I'm gonna wait
for the traffic to come in. What happens here is that next someone is going to
type in a search query, just like you type it on Google. How to cut your hair at home. You want to maybe you'd find a YouTube tutorial or
an article or whatever. The same thing happens
on Pinterest as well. Pinterest is a search
engine whether you want to admit that are
not at the core of it. It works based on search queries and what
people are looking for. Matching those people with the right articles
and the right pins, or even the right videos. In this case, when a user
puts in the query saying, hey, how do I got my
hair on home, at home. Then they are gonna
be directed to the search feed
where this article or a bunch of articles and pins will show up about this topic. Now, if you have done your
work correctly and if at this stage you have
optimize the pin and you have set up your
account in the right way, and you have established a
foundation on Pinterest, then your bench and idly be
showing on the search feed. Now it doesn't really happen
instantly and it might take a while for Pinterest to actually show this has
been on the search feed. The reason being that Pinterest tracks the engagement of
every penny you create. For example, when you
uploaded your pin at, let's say step number two in the cycle and no one clicked on that bin and no one
engaged with it and no one commented
on it or whatever, then it just kind of
lost in the search feed. Pinterest has no incentive
to promote the spin. They want to make sure as a search engine slash
social media platform that they make their
users really happy. And they can make them happy by pointing them towards content
which has engagement, which has proven that it is doing well on
the search feed. So let's assume that your content as well or
your pins as well. And then this person will
let say select your pin. If you've done everything
right at this point, then that person is
going to be driven back to your blog
post or your URL. Now, even though this
process looks like a pretty long 67 step
process that it is, it actually happens pretty quickly once you
get the hang of it. And at the core of it, the only really two
things that you need is towards three things
is your blog posts, your pen, and just your account
which you upload it to. So there's not that
much effort that goes into really generating
traffic from Pinterest. But once you
understand the cycle, it does make it
easier for you as an outside outsider or
someone who's new to the platform to understand how Pinterest uses the
search feed to show you, to show your bins to
the right content. Of course, if you have
an optimize your pin and if you've been is not something that people
are looking for, then even if you do show
up in the search field, you will not actually end
up at them clicking on your band because maybe it
doesn't match the user intent. That is again, completely out
of your, out of your hands. The only thing you
can control is the first three steps
of this process, which is creating the
blog posts in the URL, creating a bin and then
uploading it to your account. That's pretty much all
you can control when it comes to the Pinterest
traffic cycle.
5. Pinterest App Tutorial: Is welcome. In this video, I'm gonna be sharing with you
just an overview introduction to the Pinterest
app, how this works. So right now I'm logged
into my desktop app, and that's how most of you
are gonna be using it, especially if you're
using Pinterest for marketing and not just
for personal purposes. You can also download the app
and use it on your phone, especially for manhole opening, which we will talk about
later in the later videos. But just so that you know
exactly how this app works, I wanted to give you an
overview because I know at the beginning it can be a
little bit overwhelming. And if at any point
you have questions, let me know in the
comments below or in our Facebook group. And I can get back to
you as soon as I do. First things first, when
you log into your account, you're going to see this
sort of feed, right? So it's like an endless feed which you can just
keep scrolling, and it just never ends. So unlike Google, which is also a search engine where you have pages and you can
scroll back and forth. Been trust is sort of this
endless stream of inspiration. And the reason why they keep it like this is because
they really want their users to spend a lot of
time discovering articles, products, shop on Pinterest, connect with people
and all of that. And that's also wiper. Just give you a very,
very addictive app, especially if you are a user who is looking
for things on Pinterest, it can be very hard to pull
yourself away from it. That is precisely what makes
it such an amazing app or a platform to get traffic and
to get leads and sales. Because, you know,
when someone is paying a lot of
attention and is very absorbed and it's very
interested in a platform, then there are
obviously likely to convert that much faster. Adventurous users have been
known to convert much faster. They are known to be very,
not produce shopping, but there are more prone to spending compared to users,
let's say on Google. And also because
people generally go on Pinterest to find
inspiration or information. And what happens after you find information and inspiration is that you take action on it. When you log it, you're
gonna see your home feed. This is basically an
endless stream of ideas. And as you can see, the pins here are not
really just random pins. They are an assortment of different bins that
Ventures things, are items or topics
that I'm interested in. So basically, these are different bins that
are from accounts that I'm following as well as
maybe things that I liked, including sponsored
content as well. So for example, you
can see here there's a bandwidth says
promoted by AirDrop. That is again a sponsored bin. And in the Pinterest ads, a masterclass, you're
going to learn more about all of that. But in general, you will
obviously have some ads because that is common across most media platforms that are monetized. For example, here you can see another promoted pin
on social media. But in general, these are pins from people that
I'm following or basically interesting
ideas that maybe I was looking at or checking
out on Pinterest. So based on that history, Pinterest will
continue to revise it. So again, this is a feed
which is completely dynamic. It changes all the time. It is not something
that, for example, it will be static like
for example, on Google, rankings are generally quite sticky and they tend to
be there for a while. However, Pinterest exert very dynamic and they move very fast, which is also why new content and fresh
garden gets to rank pretty fast on
Pinterest versus let's say some other
platforms like Google. Here is another
tab called today, which basically gives
you an overview of what's trending today. Some inspiration. Again, this could be customized to who you
are and what you do. But usually there are gonna be certain things that will be
common across the world. So for example,
some recipe ideas, some articles, some
shopping, things, things that are trending, like maybe a musician, for example, when Harry Styles released
the golden video, he was trending on Pinterest. So his hair was trending for some reason and a lot of places. So basically again, this is dynamic and changes
all the time. And I would say is more a
tab for users on Pinterest, we're looking for things
to read and to pin for you as a marketer or as a business owner
or as a blogger. This only makes sense when you look at it from an
inspiration perspective. So Let's say that you are a finance blog or maybe
this might interest you. It says cost-saving ideas you
probably never thought of. You can click through and
then you can just see what, what are the pins
that are showing up in this particular idea. Again, this can
give you an idea of what the general mood of the audience and
if you are abroad, let's say if you have a
broad Pinterest account, you can really swap through
for inspiration and see what are the things
that are bobbing out. What is trending. For example, tinted moisturizer
standing and skincare. Again, this is very, very
niche-specific obviously. But what this does is kind of like an editorial
section of Pinterest. Pinterest, let's say
editors or content creating directors are responsible for showcasing this and it of
course changes every day, but it's an interesting
thing to look at, especially if you're looking for seasonal content inspiration or just looking at what
people are looking at. Ana, Ana, just an
overview kind of things. So think of it as your daily newspaper for
Pinterest, so to speak. Then you can go into
your following DAG, which is all the
people you do follow. And let's see all of the
content that they have created. Now this tends to
be usually more chronological in the sense that the latest bins are
gonna be showing up on the top and then
the oldest at the bottom. The reason why is because
sometimes you are on Pinterest just to follow
certain implementers or brands. And you just want to see
what they've been up to. In that sense, this is
a field where you can go and really dig
into this hole. Not hold it really would like to dig into this whole aspect of who are the people that you are following and what is it
that they're creating? Again, an excellent
way to keep an eye on your top competitors. Because you can also see what are the products
that they're sharing. How are they listing them, how they're taking
photographs for them, what kind of content your
competitors are creating. So again, excellent way to keep a tab on things
that are going on, on Pinterest as well as
on your competitors. So if you are a business owner
or someone who is just has bigger brands or are
influencers in that niche, you can keep an eye on them
by checking that out as well. This is your home feed scenario. Let's go back and check
into your profile. For example, you
can see there are different ways to
navigate on the top here. And there's also
hear your account where you can just click on this image here and it will
take you to your profile. So here's me on my profile. Bunches has now changed. It experiments a lot
with the layout. And depending on
when you're seeing, when you're seeing this video, there might be things that
have been newly added. Sometimes we just get tested
for a long time before they appear in everyone's
app as a ninth day, very country specific
or region-specific. And sometimes they just
come and go as they wish. The story pins, for example, have disappeared and appear
in my account many times. And it's the same experience with a lot of other creators. So I don't take that too
seriously because I know that at the end of the day it is a
social media platform as well. And there are always finding the best ways to create
the best experience, which means that there are gonna be changes every now and then. So as you can see, I
have my profile here, my name off the
website that I have, the topics and categories
that I talk about. Some examples here of
exactly what I do. I've added a call to action, so I've added a
Pinterest checklist against something I highly recommend you do
in your account. You can also click here and
go directly to the website. If you're looking for that, you can look into my followers went following things like that. Then there are two
different sections, main sections that
you will find here. So use the Creative section, which means all of
the bins that I've created recently
on this account, including stories,
videos and all of that. So you're here, you'll see first my story pins are my video bins. And then you will see all
the other image pins, which is usually the
bids that you're probably most familiar with. Then if you've connected your
account to your RSS feed, you might also get
images like this. This is my blog featured image. We're just sort of popped up because connected my
account to the RSS feed, which I will show
you quickly as well. That's why the shock bobbing up. It's not something that
I uploaded per se. Most of these pins I've actually uploaded from this account or my manager has uploaded from this account and that's
why they're showing up. You will also see here a
section of scheduled pins. So as you can see
when I click through, you can see that
these four pins are scheduled for later
today or tomorrow. And you can do this
also via Pinterest. And I do teach this when I teach the creating open
section and all of that. So basically, you can
shout it out bins out for, let's say the next
two weeks if you want if you need to channel it
for more than two weeks, you have to use a paid
tool like tailwind, which we also talk in a
lot of other videos about. But for now, let's go back into the profile and just finish
completing this section. When you go here you will
see the saved section. Now the saved section
is basically what I have saved to my account. So essentially, in other words, this is all of the
boards that I'm a part of because normally
when you're uploading, I've been on Pinterest, you save it to a certain board. A board is essentially
any category of content that you
decide to name ads. For example, I have created boards like beauty
and health tips, daily habits to
improve yourself, how to save money, weight-loss steps,
things like that. And then I also have a ton of group was that I'm a part of, as you can see here, which have multiple people that are contributing
to that board. So basically this shows you in your account all of the
boards that you have. And again, it's a
great way to spy on your competitors if you want
to see what they're up to, what kind of boards
they're creating, what kind of content
they're creating. You can just double-click and go and see what
they're up to, right? So this is a board, for example, on France travel tips.
It's a personal board. It's not a group board. But this can be one of the
ways that you actually look at other influencers and brands on Pinterest to see
what they're doing. Essentially, it's also
a good place for you to see which boards you
have recently been to. So basically they show up in
order of recent paintings. If you haven't saved
a bit to that board, it's not gonna show
up at the top. So Pinterest basically
wants to show the most fresh content or the most freshly saved
pens at the top. So you're always going to find the boards where, you know, where I've actually
recently saved content to and not the boards where I
haven't saved anything too. So you'll see that these ones I don't I haven't saved
anything for awhile, so they're not showing up
at the top of my account. Another thing here
is that you can also see if you want to check all of the bins or a particular account
or your account, you can click through
and check all the bins that have ever been
historically posted again, depending on how long
you've been on Pinterest, this could run into hundreds
of thousands of bins. For me, I think it's
almost two hundred, ten hundred pins because
I've had this account for awhile now and I've
posted obviously a lot, even posted content from other people's profiles
and things like that. So of course you are
gonna see that as well. This is the overview
for your profile and let's say the home
feed that you have, right? So these are the things
that you will see here. The other thing that's
very interesting when you have a business account is that you have access to a lot of insights and analytics. And as you can see, you
have a business hub here. So you have some shortcuts, like if you want
to create a bin, you can just kick
start and create a pin if you want to set up billing. Let's say you want to run ads
on Pinterest in the future, then you can set up
bidding as well. You can see an overview of some of the recent pins
that I've created. What their what their numbers
and impressions look like. Some of the top pens
that I've created, what their impressions
look like. I can see if I have
any ads running, what are the ads, how
other ads performing? And then here's an
exception for resources that is of course dynamically
changing as well. I generally don't read this or use this a lot
because I'm generally reading directly on the
Pinterest blog or in the engineering blog
about what's up. But of course, you do have access to those
insights as well. On the create section
is of course, the content creation
tools that you have. So you have created a bit, as you can see here is where
you just upload a band. You add your title, you
add your description, you can add your
destination link, and then you can publish
either at immediately in a certain board or
you could publish at a later date as well, right? So I'm gonna do a
separate tutorial on this so you can figure out
exactly how this works. But very quickly just to
show you how this works, Let's say that we add a one, been a quick bit
that can be added. It's not going to be
something super specific, but let's say that
you want to add this bit, which
is a video of it. And then you can just say eight self-care habits to follow. You're going to learn
more about how to create bins and
descriptions and all of the technical bits in this because there
is a lot to know, but I'm just going to
quickly show you how that works so you know how
the platform works. I'm just gonna say
learn how to practice self-care daily to
change your life. Yeah, of course,
this is a video Pin, so it's also showing
me DAG zeros. I can look at tags or categories that I wanted
to add this pin to. I'm gonna look for self-care. I'm gonna look for
things like self-love, things like that,
personal development. Maybe it also falls
into that category. So again, since this
is a video Pin, it's showing me tags. If it's not a video, this
option will not appear. I will show you that
as well. And here's where we'll add the URL. And then I will decide which board that I
wanted to publish a do as well as the time
that I want to publish it. So let's say I want
to publish it at a later date,
published immediately. If I want to publish it
right now in real-time, I can click this option, or if I want to
schedule it for later, I can click let's say
I want to schedule it for 17 December at 12:00 PM. I can add the link
and then I can take the board that I
want to save it to. Let's say Indian girl language
is my blank brand board. Then I can just click on Publish and then it would
be published, right? I'm just doing this so that
you can see how that works. I'm not really going to
do publish the spin, but you can see that
it will show up in shadow pens afterwards approved. Now, video bins usually do take a while for them
to be approved so they can take up to
24 hours to show up. And that's why it won't be automatically showing
up in your account. Let's see how that looks
like for an image spin. Let's say you have an
image but really normal, you're going to add the title. So 12 as podcasts, let's say, and you're going to add
the description as well. You are going to learn more about it when
descriptions and hashtags in separate videos
in the later stages. And then of course
you're going to add a destination link. You can also add
hashtags if you want. Again, something we talk a lot of details off in
the later videos, 12 as podcasts to learn and
photo for women, let's say. And then, like I said, you can either publish
it immediately or publish at a later date. Totally depends on you select the board that you
would like to go into, should be the most
relevant board here. So let's say that
I want to add it to tips for women because it is article which
is targeting women. And then I can go ahead and
publish that as I want. That's when it comes
to creating bins. You can also create a storyboard against something that
you may or may not have access to depending
on where you are based and what experiment Pinterest
is running at the time. So simply you can upload images here and then you can
create stories on it. Unfortunately, right now you cannot add links to the stories. So even though you can add an image and you
can create a story. So let's say that I create
this as my story bin. I can go and I can
go on Next Add, I can pick esteem like I
don't know a blank list. I don't really think
that there's gonna be a theme for this, but let's go on next. I can pick a title, I can pick a board that
I want to pin it to. I can pick that
topic so I can tag, let's add some
interests and then I can publish it as well. Then it's gonna
show up. You can of course edit the design as well. And just figure out how to
add some texts, etc, to it. You can crop it if you want. You can add a title
here and say, hey, check out my website
or things like that. If you just edit this here, let's see how this thing works. Check out my website. Basically this is
like story pins work on Instagram as well. But without the link
up for that facility, I think this could be a game changing feature if they could figure out a
way to add links, right now, they don't have
the option, who knows, maybe they're trying it
on some accounts and it's not available yet
to us right now, storyboards are just static
images that you can upload. Especially if you're
a food blogger or someone who kind of shows
the behind the scenes, like you're having a
business where you want to show the inventory and you want to show
what's going on. You're going to use this as a feature to upload videos and just show those clips pretty much the same way that you use. Instagram stories as well. But in terms of driving
traffic and conversions, I don't find this to
be the best features. I would still stick to creating image bids or
video pins normally, and then using storyboards as a boat as a bonus
feature really. Then you'll have an
option to create an ad against
something we cover in a lot of details in the
Add section or in the ads, classes and trainings and
you'll learn more about it at the beginning when you're focusing on
organic traffic, you really don't need to
know more about this. Interestingly enough,
you have a very, very cool feature which
is called analytics, where you actually get to do a deep dive into what's
working on your account. What's not working out, which brands are doing well, where are your top boards? You can swipe through
and see your job boards. You can see your top pins. You can rank them by
just your website. You can drag them, buy
organic or if you have, let's say running ads, you can do that by
paid ads as well. You can even check
conversion Insights, which is again a new tool. I haven't really set up the
stack for this insight, but this is specifically
for people who are running ads and I don't really
run ads on this platform. But of course, if
you do run ads, you can add pinterest tags and see how those ads
are performing. But for organic users, this is not really very, very useful because
you have access to this information within
your normal analytics. If you upload videos, you're gonna see the performance
of those videos as well. Your Pinterest is heavily
focusing on video. Video pins, especially
for reaching more people, because the whole world is
moving towards video content. So if you create video bins, you will find specific
analytics for those pins. You can see it was organic. How long they've been, was how many impressions depend
hat and so on and so forth. Again, analytics we discussed in a lot of detail in one
of the other classes. So you're going to
learn it there as well. This is just to give
you an overview of how the app works. You can select for
specific devices. And last but not the least, you can also select days
so you can see what's working in the last seven
days specifically, right. So was there a video that did really well in
the last seven days? The video was all about. You can click
through and see, oh, this is what the
video was all about. And this is how we did. I got video views
saved and all of that. Again, the challenge with
video pins is that you can't really click through
to them as of now, maybe the changes in the future. And that's why they're great for impressions and engagement. And they get you likes
and comments and stuff, but they don't
really convert into traffic or leads that quickly. You can also see
Audience Insights. Another one of my personal favorite things about Pinterest. It gives you so much information on who is following
you on venture trust. What are the categories
that they're interested in? And you can use this
information to create boards. You can use this
information to create bins. You can do a lot of market
research based on this to figure out what your next product or
service should be as well. So I'm going to go
into a lot of detail in this independence
Analytics section. But just to give
you an overview, you can find here the categories and interests of your audience. You can also select it to
be you're engaged audience. So people who are clicking through and interacting
with your pins, you can see what is it that's really striking gold with them. They're interested in finance
and quotes, et cetera. Percentage of
audiences, simply how much of your audience is
interested in something. And affinity is how likely they are to respond
to a certain topic. How much are they interested? So the higher the affinity, obviously the more, Let's say, the more hot that topic is, and the larger the number
of audience, again, the more people that you
can reach with that topic. The ideal combination for
content should always be with a high affinity at a large
percentage of your audience. However, this section
is only limited to people who are already following you and not to other people. So you can also click
through here and you can see what is the total Pinterest
users audience like? What do they like doing, what are their interests,
and so on and so forth. For example, if you're
a home decor blogger, you can see that 68% of people on Pinterest are
interested in home to go. Big surprises. Nobody's really
surprised on that. And then you can see what are the specific subcategories
of that interest. Again, something
very interesting when you're doing
market research. Let's say you are
digging of what should I offer
from my Web Store. You can see kitchen cabinets
are interested in 3% of the people flooring
or different things. So again, a great
place for you to get inspiration to create content, figure out what are
people interested in, what is trending? So of course, this is
data that pinterest gives you completely for free with a business account and you
cannot find this anywhere else on any other platform the way
that you can on Pinterest, which makes it absolutely
a stellar platform to leverage for marketing
and for business. Again, you can also
see the age breakups. As you can see there
lots of people in the 18 to 24 age group
than 69% is female. Again, not a big shocker there. You can see the top metros
that people are located in. Of course, Pinterest is
quite US and Canada heavy. You will see a lot of people
that are from North America, but that's actually not the
only people that are there, that people from all over
the world that are on Pinterest and it's
growing by the minute. And as you can see, about
twenty-five percent are male, which is pretty good as
well for if you have a business or a blog that targets are male
audience as well, then some people
haven't specified the genders with just fine. There could be either in
your focus category or not. You can check the
devices as a web. Again, very, very
helpful feature to see how things are going on, what you can do. You can also see where you rank versus the total
Pinterest audience. So for example, how is
my audience doing in comparison to other
people's audiences? So, how much more interested
in my audiences and financial planning
and things like that versus the total
Pinterest audience. Again, excellent tool if you
are a business owner doing any kind of trying
to make money on this platform or to this
platform by leveraging it. Excellent, excellent information
and insights for you to look into any particular
niche or category. All right? And then you have
conversion insights, again, talked to your ads and to check out some
things like that. Specifically, you could
check video inside. So we already saw that
and spoke about that. And then you can click
through on trends and see what are the trends that
are going on right now, these trends are only limited
to US, UK, and Canada. We're hoping that this
will change and they will have more countries
available in the future. But of course, Pinterest is
rolling it out step-by-step depending on the affinity
of the country to use that. So I expect this
to get larger and we will have more regional
insights for Brazil, India, all the bigger markets that Pinterest is targeting. However, right now
it's only limited pretty much to us,
you can get it out. But if you do have an
audience in one of these countries or plan to sell to one of
these countries. Or better yet, if you're basically one
of these countries, you have access to so
many different things that you can see on the stool. So you can see all the trends. You can see the
weeks top trends. You can see what is trending Small Business
Saturday was running turkey soup of not a surprise there because we recently
had Thanksgiving. And then you can
see trending ideas, everything in different
categories that are interested. You can also type in and see something that
you're interested in. So let's say you
wanted to see what are people searching for
in terms of gardening. Then you can click through and then you can see the results for that and then really see
how that's working out. You can even compare those terms and see which term is
getting more traffic. So as you can see,
gardening ideas have more attraction
than just gardening. Growing vegetables. Keep adding these
different things. Very cool. If you're a data-driven person, you're gonna love this
tool as I do as well. I am not a data nerd, but I really love analyzing data and understanding
what it's telling me because I really believe in working smart and
not working hard. So if you can use this data
to leverage what type of content you should be
creating and where your customers are and what
they're interested in, then you already hit
the jackpot, right? Lastly, we have also adds, we're going to cover all of
this in the ads masterclass. I'm not going to waste your
time doing this right now. Then you're going to, of course, click through to your account and just get in and check
all of your settings. You can also, for example,
claim your websites. You can update things here. You can claim your
website if you have one, if you don't have one,
that's also fine. You can also claim your
Instagram account, your Etsy, your YouTube, your Shopify, all
of these things. You can bulk create bins if
you are someone who has, let's say if you're
an e-commerce owner and you have thousands of bins, you can create a CSV file
and you can do that as well. They have some
information for that. You can fix your
notification settings, how often you want
to be notified, privacy and data security,
AD connected apps. Anything else that
you have connected to this particular profile that brings us to the end of this
Pinterest app walkthrough. I hope this was
helpful for you to understand how this
app works on desktop. Let me know if you
have any questions in the comments and I'll
be sure to answer them. I'll see you in the next class.
6. Traffic Strategy 1: Fresh Pins Strategy: The next step really is
and the meat of the video, which is how can you
drive more traffic? So now we've made it clear that you need a
certain number of things to be a sustainable
traffic driver or generator, whatever the word is,
for prompt interests. And then you also need to have certain basic fundamentals
in place which you understood by seeing the
Pinterest traffic cycle. So you're aware now of how this process looks behind
the scenes so that you can now implement every or optimize every
stage of this process. You can drive a traffic from Pinterest doing a
couple of different things. And I'm going to
share some of my core tips here with you. And the first and the most important tip that I want to share
with you when it comes to driving traffic is
to really publish fresh pins. Now since early 2020, pinterest has really
been pushing out for fresh bins and
fresh content. And if you were a content
creator on Pinterest and 201918, whatever years before, the strategy that
you needed to use to grow on Pinterest
was very different and maybe something you
were doing then or a course that you took then it's probably not really valid right now, because a lot of
things have changed dynamically since
Pinterest went public. And they're really
creating a lot of updates to make sure that their users on branches have the best
possible experience when it comes to interacting
with the content. Now, now that we know that Pinterest is really favoring
fresh pins or fresh content. Maybe you want to know what the heck does
freshmen even mean? How can you implement them? What does this mean
for your strategy? Let me help you.
They're freshmen. So to sum it up, very, very
basically means that they are pins with new images or videos. So any pen that has a new image or a new video or a new
graphic is gonna be considered as a freshmen
on Pinterest because that is the first time that bin
is saved on Pinterest. So the first, the
very first time an image or a video is
saved on Pinterest, that is a freshmen, every next time that
you save that bid, it becomes a duplicate pin. If you save the same
pen to 600 boards, that actually leads to a lot of different
duplicates pins. And I'm going to
share with you why that is not the best strategy. Now one of the questions
that I get asked is, do I have to be creating
new blog posts or new URLs all the time or can I just promote
the same stuff? Yes, you can promote
the same stuff, but you do have to change
a couple of things. Now, a pink can
still be a freshmen, even if it has the same URL
or link as another bin. However, what you do
need to change is the image or the graphic that
goes along with that band. If it is an image being, you
need to change the image. If it is a video bid, you
need to change the video. You can still use, let's say more or
less the same texts that you have from old pins. You can use similar
titles and descriptions. Although I highly
recommend that you do switch that up because
a search engine does not like spam and
does not like to be repeated with the same
content over and over again. So the more variation you can create in your prints,
the better it is. But yes, you can promote
the same old URL over and over again as long as you create new
graphics for it. However, some people
think that if they just changed the title
of the pin or they just changed the
description of the pin. It's gonna be a new bin. That's not, that's
not going to work. Why? Because just
changing the text or the title or maybe even the
description of the bin, it's actually still counted as a duplicate been because
the image remains the same. So Pinterest, in effect, really cares about the
images and the videos. You are uploaded
to the platform. The text in that sense is
a little bit less relevant when it comes to this freshmen
or fresh image thing. However, it is
still relevant for search and we're
gonna see it shortly. Why that is the case? What could you do to ensure that you use the strategy
and that you actually are creating fresh buns the right way to get the
most amount of traffic. And basically what
you need to be doing so that you
don't get blocked on Pinterest or get added to the spam filter and that you don't create any
duplicates dense. In, in essence, fresh bins do mean that
you have fresh content. The best way to
create fresh content is by creating fresh content. You can of course, keep repeating and
sharing the old pins with the old URLs by creating new
graphics and all of that. However, the best
strategy when it comes to really boost in your account is definitely we're creating new content that you can
actually upload new URLs. And this is very similar
to what Google wants in their search
practices as well. Google really recommends
fresh content and does really favor blogs or websites that produce regularly
new content. And Pinterest has taken a very same approach from
this ear or recently, that they also want the carbon creators
on Pinterest to be charged churning out new
content as often as possible. Maybe that's a week,
weekly shadow, maybe that's a monthly schedule. Nevertheless, try and create new content as often as you can. The next thing that you need
to keep in mind when it comes to the best practices for fresh pins is
that instead of uploading all of
your pins at once, which a lot of people used to do in former times on Pinterest, and I'm guessing a lot
of people still do. That doesn't really work because Pinterest wants you to be a
consistent content creator. The algorithm doesn't
want you to upload 50 pins in one day and then
disappear from one week. It is much, much better
for you to focus on quality and consistency
versus quantity. So it is not about who can create the most amount of bins. In the fastest
amount of time, no. It really isn't about that. It really is about
who can create the best quality of bins effectively over
a period of time. So I would rather than to space out your pins and let's say you upload five times in a
day or five bins in a day, maybe 110 AM, one at
12:00 PM, whatever. That depends on your time zone and your audience time zone. But the essence is
really not to be uploading too many pins in one go shortly went
after the other, and then just disappearing
from Pinterest, it's much better to space out your pins
throughout the day and just upload pins regularly instead of just
doing this kind of mass, mass uploading
just doesn't work. At least it doesn't
work anymore. And I also want
to share with you a really handy tool which you can see on the left
side of the screen, which is basically the native
scheduler on Pinterest, lots of people don't
even know that this exists or how to use it. And essentially if you
don't have tailwind, which is a scheduling app, again, I have a full video
on tailwind on my channel. You can check that out in my channel as well after
you watch this video. But if you don't have
tailwind, which is a paid app, you can also use the
native venture scheduler to schedule your
pins ahead of time. Normally, Pinterest only allows your own two weeks
off scheduling ahead. So for example, if
you're going away for a month, you can't
really do that. You will probably
have to log into Pinterest a couple
of weeks before. However, if you are
someone who is flexible, maybe someone on a
budget that I would recommend just using the
native scheduler on Pinterest, at which you can
see you can select the date that you
want to publish. You can even select the time
that you want to publish. Now when it comes to the
time that you published, I would rather that you spend a little bit of
time doing a bit of research on where your audience is based and what
time they're active. Because the time that
you see in your account here is gonna be the time
zone off where you are based. So it's not going to be the
time zone off your country or the country that you
selected in your account. For example, the country that is selected in this
account is Germany, and it does show me
the time zone of that. But it could be that you created an account and you
put the country as, I don't know, Indonesia, but you are right now in the US, so you're scheduling there
irrespective of where you are, the place that matters
is where you're logging into account from and thus the time that
it's going to show. So make sure to keep that in mind when
you're uploading bins. Because, for example, for
me, I'm based in Europe, but my audience is pretty
heavily in North America. So I do tend to publish my
pins at a time when they are most active and that's
what you should be figuring out with
your account as well. What is the best
strategy for me to be creating and uploading my pins
when they're most active. This is no different
from creating content on Instagram or
YouTube or anywhere else. Because obviously
the more people that engage with your pin
when it goes live, the better your
chances of ranking on search and the more
traffic your website gets. So make sure to leverage native scheduler or tailwind
if you have access to Tailwind and figure out the right time or when your audience's life and
make sure to be promoting and
uploading your pins at a time when your audience
is actually available. Of course, one of the things
that used to be okay, but it's not okay anymore, is the fact that you should not be saving your pins
everywhere you can. The reason why this is
the case is because of the differentiation now between fresh pins and duplicate
pins on Pinterest. Fresh pins are pins
that get uploaded for the first time or saved for
the first time on Pinterest. Whereas duplicate bins are bins that have already
been saved before. Now it doesn't
matter if you save someone else's spin or you save your own been
again and again. But because you have already
saved the spin once, it doesn't really help
you to keep saving it again and again to
40 different boards. What do you want
to do instead is that you want to narrow down the number of boats that you publish your saved has been to, and maybe we stick to a
maximum of ten boards. Now again, this is a best
practice from Pinterest itself. This is not something
that I made up. So obviously when Pinterest shares what they wanted to do, you should definitely be
paying attention to it. And that's why I want you not to be saving your Nubians to all the boards that you
have in standing all of your tribes and your group
boards with the same thing. Instead, just be careful and
select the minimum, sorry, the maximum number of boats that you want to
share that been to and try not to exceed ten boards at a time
for the same pin, just to avoid excessive
duplicated pins. Because what happens
when you create a lot of duplicate bins or bins
that have already been saved somewhere else
on Pinterest is that it just lowers the
reach of your account. And that's also why I actually recommend
that going forward you create more of your own content versus just saving
other people's content.
7. Traffic Strategy 2: Pinterest SEO Strategy: Alright, now that we
know the first step, let's talk about one
of the tips that is meaning not the sexiest
have to be sharing, but it is nevertheless
very important because Pinterest
is a search engine. This step is all about how
do you optimize for search. So making sure that you
are optimized for SEO when you are using
ventures to drive traffic. The reason why is because it links back to the
cycle that I showed you, the graph that I showed you, which is that if your bins basically do not show
up in the search feed, if they're not being added to
the search feed and they're not really ranking anywhere on the search fields, so
they're not showing, let's say in the first two
pages that a person loads, then no one is gonna click
through to your pins and no one's going to find
your account or your website. It's pretty simple. It's the same as when you, when you try to rank
on Google as well. If you are hidden in
page down of Google, then no one is really going to come to your website
because no one has the patients to scroll that much and really go to page ten. And this is basically how
every search engine works. And I'm honestly
quite surprised and many people don't
really think about this or don't really pay attention to it because without having effective SEO in place
and without really making it very easy for
Pinterest to rank your content, you cannot drive
traffic sustainably. You might have locked
by fluke or something once in awhile if a big account shares
your pain or something, but you're not gonna
be able to drive that consistent day in
and day out traffic, which you can then monetize and make money on all
of those things. In order to understand why you need to
optimize for search, look at it this way. There are three ways that people can find you on Pinterest. They can find you when
they're searching for a germ like we like
we shared, right? So if I'm looking to
cut my hair at home, I might search that on the search feed and
I can find you where that or I can find you
by finding your board. So maybe I'm looking
for inspiration and I'm looking for,
I don't know, uh, boards to redo my
kitchen and I saw how come across your
kitchen make overs board. And I started following
you because I like your content or I could be actively looking for people in a certain niche or industry. And I've juggled your
profile and then I decided to follow
you like for example, maybe I want to hire
a business coach and I'm looking for people
on Pinterest who are a business coach were located in my country and I got across your file and I follow
you irrespective of where people find you, there can only be
three areas that you optimize when it comes
to search on Pinterest, at least as of now, those areas are your
profile or account profile. So what is it that you provide
is all about who are you? What do you do? What's your website,
so on and so forth. The next thing is what
your pins are all about. So how are your pins
optimized for search? What are, what are some of
the key things that I should know as someone who is a user to actually
interact with your bins. And the third thing
is your board. So all of the personal
boards that you have which you created
for your account, what are they all about? How they relate to
what I'm looking for? How do they rank in search? Those are really the best
practices when it comes to SEO. I've said this before,
I'm gonna say it again. Pinterest is a search
engine and you cannot show up if you do not work on
your keyword strategy. So you can do keyword research. And you should be doing keyword research if you
want to drive traffic from Pinterest because it
helps you identify the main keywords that
you should be trying to rank for or that you want
your content to run for. Let's say that you are
a wellness blogger and you write about different
things on your blog. Maybe you write about yoga, about how the eating, about low-carb food and so on. So that means that
these are gonna be the three main keywords that you would be focusing
on on your account. You want to make sure
that these keywords are actually reflecting and
your strategy overall. You want to make sure that these keywords, let's say yoga, healthy eating, and local food are actually appearing
in your profile. They're appearing in your
pins as well as your board. Once you've done that,
you also want to make sure that the new
content that you create also falls into one
of these categories because that way
you are going to establish relevance and let's say repetition within
the search algorithm. Once Pinterest is understood
that your account is all about yoga and how the
eating and local food, the recommendation
engine will then take, take more power, let's say. And it's gonna start joining out more for your content
to the right audience. Because if you're all over the place and wonder you're
creating content about low-carb food and next month you're creating content about hair tutorials of
interest is not really going to know what
your account is all about. Especially when you're starting
out and you don't have a large audience and you don't
have a lot of followers. It really helps to just focus on a few main keywords for
your account and then make sure that those
keywords are optimized everywhere that people
can possibly find you, whether that is your profile, whether it's your pins or that, or that is your boards,
is really up to you to understand and optimize. Not only should you be optimizing
your existing account, because obviously that's
how people are finding you. You should also be thinking
about what could I create in the near
future that is going to fall into one of
these categories so that I can continue to do well on Pinterest so that my topics
on my themes can continue to connect with my
audience and I can get more and more
engagement over time. The next thing are actually one of the more important
things that you should also be thinking about is how do
you go about optimizing your descriptions when it comes to the pins
that you upload. Remember when in the binges
traffic cycle you saw that you will upload a pen and then gets added to the search feed. It won't really get
added to the search feed if pinterest doesn't know what
you've been is all about. And as an algorithm, the way Pinterest works is
that it basically scans depend that you upload for
tags, for relevant tags. Let's say, for example, in the example that I
have put as a screenshot, you can see that there are different things that are there. There are habits of women
who are never stressed and then there are different
smaller keywords like daily habits, Women and mental
health, wellness, etc. When Pinterest scans this
keyword description, it's going to know, okay, this bin is all
about wellness and mental health and being happy. And I'm gonna share
it with people who have shown an interest
in these topics. And then it's going to
put that into the search. Sweet. If my bin is added to the search field and his
ranking at a good place, then people who are looking for similar content will also
get shown this content. And then I will get traffic
for that particular pin. It doesn't really
just depend on how your description is or how
beautiful your opinion is. It's a combination
of different things that work in favor ready. When you are creating
your pin descriptions, be mindful of who it is
that you're targeting and what it is that you want
your content to rank for. If you're a wellness
blogger, like I said, Figure out your
510 main keywords that you want your website or your account to rank for and then strategically
create your content. Because in the long run, it is just your content that
drives traffic on Pinterest. So even if you optimize and
do all of those things, it's not going to
help if your content is not really
discoverable on Search. And Pinterest
doesn't really know where to tag and sort
your content out. Make it as easy as possible for Pinterest to understand
who you are, what you do, and where they
should show your content.
