1. 01 Introduction: Thank you for taking this class. In this class, I will teach you how to make oatmeal car worldliness. I will first teach you how to make the cookie dough. Next, I will teach you how to prepare the caramel. Then I will teach you how to assemble our cookies. We will finish by Becky cooling and cutting our cookies. I'm a self-taught Baker. And take. Many years ago, I decided I wanted to bake cakes for special occasions for other people. I took some classes, watched a lot of videos, read some books, and of course did a lot of practice until I felt like my cake decorating skills. We're at the level that was professional enough. I then opened up my own home bakery and I make cakes and other t-shirts for several years for different people. My husband got a job offer in New York City and we felt like this was a good move for us. And so I close down the Homeboy bakery and we moved across the country to New York City. Now here in New York City, I do not want to go through the steps to open up my own homepage. I still up baking. As retired teacher. I love teaching. So I decided to share my skills with you on Skillshare. This class is aimed at the baker that would like to make a yummy, gooey oatmeal cookie. I am excited to teach you the skills learned in this class. Let's move on to lesson number one, preparing the pen for the cookies. 2. 02 Preparing The Pans: Before we start making the cookies, we want to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. So the wants, the cookies are all put together. We can stick them into a preheated oven. We're ready to start making our oatmeal carbon liters. The first thing we need to do is to get the pan ready for the cookie dough and all the gooey stuff. I have my half sheet Jelly Roll pen and some parchment paper. I want the parchment paper. It should be longer than the hand. That's because we're going to lift we're going to lift the pictures before we cut them. And so we need to be longer. Now, I can go over to the side. I don't need it. I'm now going to spray the sides of the pan, the parchment so that it won't really want to make sure this is sticking down. Give panelists now ready. Let's go ahead and make the cookie dough. 3. 03 Making The dough: We're now ready to put together our cookie dough. In this poll, I have my two cups of oats. Going to dump. My two cups of flour, my 1.5 cups of brown sugar, my baking soda, and myself. And I just wanted to check. Mix this all together. If you see any big chunk of brown sugar, makes sure you breaking up. My brown sugar was just a little bit old. So I had a few chunks that we're starting to form. So I am just breaking them up. You notice how easy they break up. And that's also very easy to see them. So you're able to just as you're mixing it up, pull out the chunks. And when you get it to this point, you're gonna take your melted butter on top. That's a mixture. We're going to mix. This is going to make this very crummy. Do that works great as a crumble on top to toe at the bottom, you do want to make sure you get all of the dry, extend with them moist. And that can take just a few minutes to do this. Just keep stirring until you've got all of the dry mix. You see driving it into the moist. She do that. You will see that the dry slowly disappears and it all becomes moist. Dry over here. As you can see, it looks pretty moist all the way through. We're now ready to start assembling. Are 4. 04 Preparing The Caramels: Before we assemble the cookie, we do need to get the caramel. I have my caramel and my half and half. I'm going to pour the half-and-half over the carbonyl and we'll get to this in the microwave for three minutes at 50 per cent power will be back in three minutes. Once this is cool. This is microwave for three minutes on 50 per cent. Now going to get the cardinals start melting. That's just not going to be enough. We're going to be cooking at some more. We want to get the caramel has melted enough that they're pretty much all into the milk. You can see the caramels are breaking down the mustard. Another couple of minutes. We'll come down a little bit more. I can fill a milk is still very hot. And as long as the milk is nice and hot, if Carlo's will emeritus, I stir it. Grinch, go ahead. And most of the Carville often spoon or for Kim. And we're going to have cut this back in the microwave. Wander three minutes. I'm going to try to two minutes at 50% and hopefully that will be enough. If not, we'll do it an extra minute after that. Caramels have kicked another two minutes. Now I'm gonna go ahead and you can see it's a lot harder. Hopefully, two minutes would be enough to get this nice smooth curves will give it that extra minute Schuster and see if this is still not quite dissolved. So I'm going to stick it back in for one more minute. It is kept for one more minute. Hopefully this time we will have a nice smooth curve. Still a couple of caramel lumps which is going to try to stir it out. Notice overall it's very smooth. Couple that are not melted. Again. And now let this sit for a minute while we get the rest of the cookies. 5. 05 Assembling The Cookies: Here is our pattern and here is that kinda don't like stuff we made. We wanted to take half of this. Don't put it in your mixture. I only take half of it. Then I want to press this down very, very thin. The power grid all the way out throughout. And Pam, this pan is a little bit bigger than that, actually calls for it. Because I like to make the karma Leda's a little bit bigger in size and just not as thick. It makes me feel like I'm eating more, so I'm going to take another handful. And as I said, I want this to be very thin. We want to press this out to the edges. Still very, very thin. And if for some reason I don't want to take a lot more than half. So if for some reason I'm not able to get it all the way over to that and I can always fold it up and have it stop there. The important thing is at the bottom of the pan is covered because we don't really want the caramel on that to go through to the bottom. I'm using my hand to help push down. And that helps mashups really better than my fingers. As I'm doing this, I'm able to push it out a little bit further, a little bit more here. Now, I'm going to my chocolate morsels. Once I have them all out, I can spread it all around, making sure it's evenly distributed. If you see any areas that don't have as much as the other, just move it around. Now I'm going to take my chopped becomes sprinkled. I don't have as many columns, so I'm making sure I'm able to sprinkle it over all of it. I can go back and sprinkle some more sharp. We're now ready for the karma. I want to start one more time. And I want to make sure also that the caramel is evenly distributed. So I'm actually going to just kinda spoonful at a time, making sure I get it all over. I don't want to pour it because if I pour it, I'm going to get too much in one spot. I don't want that. Let's get some over here. Then up here, you start getting down to not having much, looking to see where you really need some more and put it in the spot. Now we're going to take what's left of this mixture. I'm crumble on top, making sure you get it all over. And then just kind of look and see if any of these big lumps need to be broken up and move to other parts so it's more evenly distributed. You can kinda pat it around a little bit. You can't move it around a lot. We're ready now to put this in the oven. And we're going to pick this 30 minutes on the middle band. 6. 06 Bake Cool And Cut: This is banked for not quite 30 minutes. It actually baked about 27 because it looked it smelled like it was getting done. And when I looked at it, it looked done. Now going to let it cool on the cooling rack until it's completely cool. Then we'll be back to take it out of the pan and show you how to cut it for presentation. Our karma Leda's are completely cool. What we wanna do now is on edge here. This one makes sure it's not gonna do the same. Once I have my two absence done. I'm going to lift this right out of the pattern. Now, all we need to do is cut this. And I kinda want to score it first just to see how many rows I'm giving care. Because I can always change it. So I've got 123456789 rows. I'm gonna go ahead and divide this in half this way. Then divide it in half. And you have nine times four. Actually ends up making. Now that I've scored it, Come back. Now I want to actually go through just following that score line. And I do want to make sure it goes through just breaking up. And I have one real cat and I looked through the score lines again down. Actually make this one too big. Score line was to really should be about this. I'm going to work on the next row, and I'm going to continue doing this until I have all of the rows. 7. 07 Final Thoughts: Thank you for taking this class. We had fun making our oatmeal. You learned how to make the cookie dough slash crumble. We then learned how to melt the caramels and get them ready for the cookie. With this done, we assembled our cookies. First Petri net layer. The cookie at the bottom, sprinkling the chocolate morsels. And that becomes, we then spooned on the melted caramel and then we drizzled the rest of that cookies, Jerusalem. On top of our cookies. We bake this in the oven for about 30 minutes. And then we took it out and we let it completely with the code. We then cut the car milliliters and put them on a plate ready? To my friends. I hope your cookies turned out the way you planted. Your project for this class is to make these cookies. The recipe is in the project section of this class. Where do you want done making the cookies? Please upload it to our project page and tell us how it went. I look forward to see your pictures and hearing how it went. From my kitchen to your kitchen. Happy.
