About This Class

In this class, you will learn how to draw a bowl of noodles in a quick and easy way using Procreate. Learning to draw simple ingredients will help to draw other ingredients easily to create more food illustrations. This class is for beginners and for anyone who would like to draw a bowl of noodles for fun, to share on social media and even to print out. I will be illustrating on an iPad with an Apple pen using the Procreate app. But you can also follow this class using other drawing tools. It would be good to have the basic knowledge of Procreate as I will only be teaching the basic Procreate tools needed for this class.

Hi! I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. While others may say that they have been drawing since the first time they held a pen (which I think we all did), I can honestly say I learned to draw later in life. It was in 2019 that I established myself as an entrepreneur and made visualisation and illustrating as my main work. I've conducted creative facilitation that incorporates the practical and effective use of visuals. With my Masters degree in Communication, I've supported organisations' communication processes by placing organisational communication into visual context. I've illustrated for the Non-Profit organisations and for the development filed. I've also conducted Visualisation workshops to those who desire to be more visua... See full profile

1. Introduction: Hi, I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and entrepreneur from Helsinki. Today, we will learn how to draw a bowl of noodles in a quick and easy way using Procreate. We will draw simple ingredients and combine them together. Learning to draw simple ingredients will help to draw other ingredients in an easy way to create more food illustrations. This class is for beginners and for anyone who would like to draw a bowl of noodles for fun, to share on social media and even to print out. I'll be drawing on an iPad with an Apple pen using the Procreate app. But you can also follow this class using other drawing tools. Let's get started. 2. Class Project: For the class project, we will be drawing a bowl of noodles in a quick, easy and fun way. First we will learn how to draw a bowl, then the noodles, then the rest of the ingredients. The fried tofu, sliced carrots, boiled egg, cooked mushrooms, cut spring onions. and a chili. We will arrange these ingredients together in a beautiful bowl of noodles. By the end of this class, you will have an illustrated bowl of noodles that you can share on social media or even to print out. Don't forget to share your project in the project gallery section so that we can all admire it. 3. Procreate Basics: To start a new project, Let's open Procreate. Go to the plus sign on the right side to open a new canvas. Let's make this a 1500 pixels by 1500, pixels in dimension and 300 DPI. The square canvas will make it easy to share on social media like Instagram. And with 300 DPI, it will give a good quality when printed. Then hit Create. For the pen, I'll be using the monoline pen, which you can find in the calligraphy set in the brush library. My pen size is 15% all through. Here are some basic tools we need for the project. We will be creating lots of shapes. So it would be good to know that when you hold the pen in place, it will create a perfect shape and also a straight line. We will be using color drop a lot too. And to do that, you just pull the color from the palette and drop it into the shape. But if the shape is not properly close like this, it will drop the color to the entire canvas. So be sure that they're all close. I suggest that you draw each ingredient in a different layer. To add a layer, hit the plus sign. I've also provided you the color palette that I use in this project in order that I've used them. You can download the color palette from the resources section, and it's called Doodle Noodles. But you can also use any color of your choosing. So we are ready to go. Let's start. 4. Drawing the bowl and the noodles: First, we draw a bowl to hold our noodles. And then the noodles. 5. Drawing tofu, carrot and egg: Now let's start drawing the ingredients. Let's start with the tofu, then the sliced carrots. Lastly, the boiled egg. Don't forget to add white on the white part of the egg. 6. Drawing mushrooms, onion and chili: Let's now draw the cooked sliced mushroom. Now the cut spring onion, then the red chili. 7. Combining Together: Now it's time to place the ingredients together. And there you have it. 8. Thank You: Many, many. Thanks for joining me in this class. I hope you enjoyed it. Please don't forget to post your projects in the project gallery section. Bye for now and see you soon.
