1. Intro: Hello and welcome to ECE
drawing cartoony characters. My name is Christa,
and together we will learn how easy and
families to draw. We will create funny
and wacky characters. Go through drawing principles, him some tricks to help
drawing your skills. I see myself as a storyteller. I think any medium can be
used to tell the tale, can be a boot again, or an animated story. I worked on
multivariate projects, written and illustrated books, develop games, anti-piracy. Having fun and just playing around can be a
great way to free yourself and create something
marvelous in person. This is the beginning
of a great journey into your gradient world. Are happy to be your guide. Let's get started.
2. Warm-up and A Man With Moustache: So for this exercise, I will use two kinds of pencils, a blue one and the black one. This is just that you can make very rough round vowels
with the blue pencil. And then I can do to clean
up with a black one. If you prefer to use a pen or a marker or crayon,
It's fine too. As long as you're sketching. It can be good to
loosen up your hand a little bit before you
start the exercises. And also it's about avoiding
the fear of the blank paper. It's a little bit, but
when you do doodling, maybe on a piece of paper, just do some lines like that. Maybe a few lines, straight lines like that. Just to get your nervous
system up and ready and feeling loose and ready. I usually do is that I draw a very rough circle like this. Draw a square. And then I draw a triangle. Some basic shapes like this. Maybe if you wanted to, you, maybe we'll draw a very simple little
character like this. In this exercise is
not super necessary, but it's good if
you start doing it. If you feel a little
bit anxious, stiff. It's just about
starting to having fun and experimental films, not carrying that anything is supposed to be super perfect. So something like that. So let's start by doing
a simple, egg-shaped. As you see, I have very
rough and loose lines. Simple egg-shaped like this. I think this is
going to be a man. He will have a little bit of
a potato knows, like days. Maybe. Big mustache, like dues, small little ice and put up
some eyebrows like that. I think he will have very, very curly hair. Like this. My nickname is actually
true lynn Swedish, which is a bit ironic
at the moment, since I don't have so much hair. Then we're going to
put a little line here to show where he's tries. Trousers are some small, tiny legs like this. Don't we go ahead and do
sort of Aladin shoes. I love this shape.
Almost like skis. Also draw out other shoe. And, um, let's see what he
will do with his house. I think we can put one arm here and he's just holding
it loosely against his body. When I do hands,
I usually just do a circle like this
to begin with. And done with the darker pen, we can draw more details
like fingers, etc. His arm can go like this. And he might be
holding something. Let's see what's going to
hold. It's the same with this. When you draw that
and just do a circle. And afterwards you can always
add fingers like this. What do you think? What
should it be holding? Maybe a flower can hold up. Beautiful, maybe almost
like a sunflower. And it can look a bit like his hair with big
leaves like this. And as you see, it's just doodling and don't care
if the lines are crossing each other or if something feels wrong
because he can't do wrong. Actually, this is just about playing around with
having found him. This is actually a
very good exercise to do for loosing up your hand. So you also continue
to play around and start to think about little
bit about his background. What is his occupation? Where does it live? What does he do when he goes to
buy milk in the shop? You see a strange guy or a
happy guy or grumpy guy. Add a little bit of
stripes to his trial. So I think like this. There you go. This
is the first rough. They alter the character. I think it looks quite good. If you want to add
some other details. Please do. Feel free
to find the size. So play around with
the character. So now I'm gonna change
to the black pencil. I will make the lines
a little cleaner. And also more clear. As you see, even when
I'm cleaning up, I have a very rough line. I usually do
multiple small lines instead of having a very
long line like this. And this is just my style. Maybe your style is more
precise and simple line, but I always been
drawing like this. Stood eyes. And I usually leave
a little bit of a wrong white circle like that. It's just to give the character
a little bit more life. You can try both to
have them completely black or have them with
this little light. I think it's nice that they
are shying lame like this, gives the character a
little bit more life. And big brushy eyebrows. When they do to clean up, I usually start with the face. If a character
actually has a face, it's just easier to finalize the character when you put the most
effort into this area. Continue with the trousers. Don't worry if you go outside the blue lines or if you feel you want
to change something, please do business just about
exploration and having fun. You can always use an
eraser and go back. But I encourage you actually to just finished complete drawing. And Daniel's do another one. And it has continued
experiment with the character. This is about learning. It's not about doing
something very precise. Finally, going to feel them. This will start to look
a bit like a referee, but maybe that's his occupation. Actually. He has continued to wear this kind of petals
on his spare time. I'm going to draw out here. Maybe add a little bit
of showing a finger to the other flower. Tight grip on this flower. So maybe the flower is
very important to him. To shade. Norm, I ask him to do a very wobbly one
line for the leaves. Lastly, the shoes. I'm done. I'm going to add a
little bit stronger lines beneath the shoes. So this is to grow
the character. Because when you
add these lines, it looks more like it's actually standing on something
on the ground. I usually also do very, very rough. Longest like this. Not super strong but
a little bit wobbly and this is just so there's
a little bit of shade. The nice the character. There you go, your
first character, it looks really good. Yeah, this is really
great. Very good. I'll see you in the next lesson.
3. Dancing Duck: So next we're going to do a
little strange dancing duck. I think I'll start with a
simple circle like this. Will be his belly. And I'm going to do almost
like a bucket. I think. This. And when you draw a body
with a geometric shape, think about the
volume the bowl has. Imagine that it is transparent and you can see the whole shape. I will go over this later. So no worries. Just focus right now
about having fun. It's not something
that is super serious. It's just something that you
can add if you wanted to. Same with this bucket. The base of it will also
be same shape as this one. Next, I think we will add
a little bit of dancing. Arms. Wouldn't be really dark. This is more like a
strange creature, but just continue to play around and have fun
with this character. And the next arm. Up here, a little bit of a firm. This adds a little bit of legs. I don't know what kind of music is listening to uninstall sing, but try to imagine what could be going on
in these characters. Had last leg. Maybe he's stretching out
a little bit like this. Welcome to add the beat. Sticking out a little
bit from the buckets. Of course, he should
be smiling like this. Add ice like this. So I can still remember when I was drawing
together with my father and most about three years old and it was so great sitting with him and he just fantasizing about what
you can put on paper. My father really, really loved drawing postbellum
by the bicycle. And my father is not
an artist or anything, but just some quality
time we spend together. And I think that was
actually start to Y0. So far. The things I do. So there you have the basics. Start to do the black lines. So it's time to start
to do the like lines. In this stage, is this
something that you are not super excited about? You can always take the
eraser and maybe you don't want this line at
all. Just remove it. So maybe it's how
this more like this. You can always come back with
the blue one or maybe he has a few hair pieces like this. Ms. More fun for you. Let's fill this in. I don't know what this hairdo
is actually called. Should maybe invited some
kind of name for it. And as in previous drawing
over and started to have these white spots giving the character a little
bit more of a life. Continue with the B. Make sure that you put
into it a little bit of a smile for him because he's so happy when he's
dazzling his nostrils. Or maybe it's not.
Maybe it's the CI, or it can put all kinds of attributes to your drawings and always swap them and change
them later on. Fees, almost like this is
kind of robot arms almost. Maybe it's a robot, robot, duck. Baryonic dancing, whose sole purpose is
to make people happy. This in the previous drawing of allowed some weight
to the character by adding strong lines where
the feet touch the ground. I'm also add a little bit
scribbly lines like this. Give him a little
bit of a shadow. The stronger the
lines you make them more importance goes into it. Because contrast and
strong parts out of focus, what you're supposed to look at. So if you withdraw
very way guys, it's very hard to see you them, but if you feel the minimal, the focus goals into that, I feel something is missing. Maybe we should add something
here for his chest. It could be maybe
bottles like that. Maybe has some sweater on. Or we can remove this. Maybe he has some kind of
superhero symbol there. What really Superman, but
something similar like that. I'm not super. When it
comes to cleaning up. This is just a sketch. It's
just about having fun. So if you're drawing look very
messy, it doesn't matter. It's actually quite good because that means that you
are experimenting. Really interested in learning. So it could be a super dark, the dancing mechanical,
super dark. If that's the best
superhero name, but it's quite good. Here we go. Fill in, but the DLL bit, like this, we can add
a little bit of shade. Since this is quits big bowl to give it
some more about volume. So there you go. It's your first superhero,
mechanical dancing Duck. Very good. Next lesson will be something,
well, I don't know. Let's see what we'll find out.
4. Cheese Lady: So let's see what's up. Next thing we are going to start with triangular
shape. Like dubious. Wonder why it can
be maybe a pair of legs like this. I think. What kind
of shoes it should be maybe should be some
kind of wooden shoes. I think it's called
clogs and English. Probably realized that right now that English is not
my native language, but I do hope you can
understand what I'm saying. So paralogs and a little face, eyes and nose, a big smile on some, maybe some buck teeth. Being really keen
on cheese lately. So I think I will do this. Like cheese or someone who
is made out of cheese. I don't know if you
like cheese or not, but I can't resist
it. Like this. I want to add a little
bit of dimension to him. I will do the job also. They don't have to do at this
party if I don't want it, you can add it to
very flat character, but this case I preferred
to this piece on them. You can also do that. The holes are eating away
a little bit of the edges, something like that.
Don't add pupils. Maybe he's a little bit slightly
actually, I didn't know. You can also add
lashes like this. So the character
looks more female. So it's actually
a she's a woman. Well, yeah, I think so. That's interesting. Um, before we start doing with
the black lines, maybe she asked a
little compound him. Maybe there's little
rat sitting here. The wrath is really
putting his nose up. Ars sauce and smiling. Because the smell of
cheeses, delightful. And don't forget to put tail. Yeah, something like this. Let's start with the nose. Doing the ice. She should have a really big
sparkling or ice lashes. Maybe there's some mascara
there too. Just like that. Can also shade the top eyelid
a little bit like that. And you have the
slide on the teeth. Maybe she should
have some lipstick. Little bit more shape of
our mouth. Like that. Yeah, this looks good. A little bit of shading
underneath the nose. We can continue
with this G spot. He also tried to
randomize the holes. This looks more natural. So not all of the wholesale
have the same size, the same distance to each other. Of course, if your patterns
start to be a bit too, even have this effect that it's, doesn't look so natural. It looks more like
it's man-made, like it's like a pattern over wallpaper or
something like that. So we also try to randomize
the whole side a little bit. They don't have
to be super dark. All of them, some of them
might be a little bit lighter. And then put shading to give the character a
little bit more depth. Strength, fingers line. It looks like it's
coming more out to you. What kind of flavor Do
you think this lady has? Is that a jeder lady or a dimer or what is
your favorite cheese? I continue with her legs. Maybe the legs is more like
she has some kind of sucks on. Just like that. I can show you them
also a little bit Good. Put even a little bit
more stronger shade just underneath this shape. And then you do this, you see that the legs are going
under, beneath the shape. The clocks. I'm not worn
clogs for very many years. Award them almost
every day during the summers when I was a kid, but not worn them since. As we've done before, the contact with the surface underneath make the
lines a bit stronger. That's the C. I'm I'm
I'm not very precise. This is very aware of roughened. When you start to be too
precise in the beginning. It means that you stiffen up and it's not so good actually, it's better that
you are loose and wide and maybe make it a
little bit of my mistakes. But that's actually how you find the true character
and the two lines. Because you will draw
this character many, many times and eventually you will find what
you're looking for. So don't worry about it being messy or
anything like that. Just to have fun and try
to explore the character. Make this a little bit
stronger, a little bit. And you see that if
you have very small, overly also do extra Sarah. If you haven't lived
with very small pupils, where you have an eye
with very much pupils. The expression of them
is quite different. So this is something you
can experiment with two, because usually when you have
big round pupils like this, you get the warmer person and if you have
smaller wells day it looks kinda look
scared over history. I'm just going to
emphasize the mouth and the teeth so they have
almost the same value as dy. So this is sticking
together and now you see that you have more
focus in this area. Lastly, we will do the rats. In this case, I didn't draw
any from Paul, say ISD, the feed for it and I think
I will keep it like that. I don't usually go with that. It's very important that everything is an
atomically correct or a person should have this much house or feet or
dose or whatever he sells. I usually go with the feeling I get when I'm drawing something. It might look a
little bit later, but it's my style and I like it. I like it a lot. The ears and the eyes are closed. Closed. Smile. Lastly,
we have the tail. Sometimes that might look like a worm or something like that. Books. When I draw red tails, prefer to do it like this. Just to give it a different
kind of texture. Why not? Do the rats a little
bit more fluffy tails? So it looks like it comes
out from the Tumblr. Maybe it's like this
kind of route that likes to lie in the clubs that people very, very hairy. Little bit of shadow collected characters a little
bit on the ground. And there you go. Your
first cheese lady, maybe. It looks great. I hope you
had fun and learned a lot. Remember to practice not to eat. Just one cell, tried to do it
as many times as possible. And you will find and develop new ideas every time you do it. Good effort and see you
in the next lecture.
5. Monkey Guy: So the next character, I think he's going to be maybe a little monkey for
Mukesh creature. Let's see. I'm wondering if you should have
some kind of Dory. Oh, dorsal, big hubs. Let's explore the face
a little bit more. A little bit of a nose. Like a pug pug nose. Of course, a big smile outside. And doing what he loves. Oval-shaped eyes like this. Some small hears. Wonder if you should have this kind of
whimsical curly hair. They can explore it later. Then we bring out the black pen. A little bit of
his gym like that. I think you should it's locked but Dallas or
something he's holding is it sounds like
it's ski sticks. Could be bananas if you'd
like to. It's no problem. Sticks. Hello, This part I don't know what it's
called in English. I'm not going to even try. It will be your somethings. So English sticks like that. He's long, bulky arms like that. Done his body, his chest. So small legs like that. One little foot in
front of the other. So he has ski sticks but
most keys, Let's quiet. Okay. He's outdoorsy. Doing what he loves. Don't worry about the
lines or anything else to explore and try to find a shape, see where it goes. Eventually you will be very, very good at drawing. And this is the
way out to do it. Very easy and very simple. Yes, play around and have fun. Let's start with the black pen. I think I will start
here with the hands. If you want to add
some locals like that, or if you prefer,
you can just have a round shape, but
doesn't matter. Just draw what you feel
is natural for you. I will do the locals here on
this side to this fingers, as you see, I don't
draw four fingers. I drove. I don't
draw five fingers. I mean, I draw four fingers. So this is something that
comes from the animation side. Is that why animated characters, all four fingers, is it
justice easier to animate? It's faster than have
broken, but five fingers. This has transferred over
all so today illustrations. But if you prefer to
draw as a real lab, just to add another finger down below the top of the ski sticks. So down here, why I'm started with the hands is actually this is going to
be quite a strong part. Because if I make this
lined more black, there was stand out
a little bit from the back with a body and
arms that's a trunk. Continuing to be
this t-statistics. I know my mother
is usually using ski sticks when she
assault exercising, so maybe this is the
front of my mother. When they are walking.
You never know. The tips. Then I will do like I do with the contact points with
the feet and shoes, etc. I will add some extra
pressure down here. Statistics are realistic
into the ground. And he has a really,
really long arms. So I suppose he's very good
at using these sticks. Now it's time for the face. I believe this little
glimmer of life in the size. Also I think I will change
change his little Seville, but maybe it's more like this. Mismo. If you want to, you can always the little time that
is sticking out. A little bit blue sites. Bit different from
the rest of the face. Big smile. And as I said
in the earlier lessons, is about exploring, don't
worry about the lines. They don't have to be
perfect or anything. This is just about exploring. And eventually when you have
done this enough times, you will find your
own way of drawing that feels natural to you and you will find your own style. Come back to. I wonder
if you should have some kind of jacket where the little bit
of bottles like that. It looks quite fashionable,
but actually maybe estimate this
Gore-Tex equipment. Cross covering in the
mountains, soar, countryside. Done. I'm just going to add
a little bit of shadow. It doesn't have to be a lot. To bring all of this
together. Blue line. As you see, the stronger
lines you draw, the more contrast and the more
focus goes to that place. Under stronger I
make these lines, the more they pop
up from the rest of the picture, the
rest of the drawing. So you can experiment
with that a little bit. You can do a drawing, but everything is almost equal. Let's see how that feels
along that is very, very exaggerated that these
lines are pure black. And see how that works. A little bit shallow
in the back here, on the arms. There you go. Maybe it's not
really a monkey man, but let's say it's
called a monkey with the ski sticks is just out. Having a nice walk.
There you go. Your skis, the monkey,
ma'am, congratulations. See you in the next lesson.
6. Girl With Candy Canes: Okay, so the next character
that we go to play with is, I think it's going
to be a little girl. The big round head and
a nice pretty dress. Draw a bowl. Little
small, almost triangular. She's going to have
big beautiful eyes. Little, little little,
little smile like that. Put some small ears. I don't know what kind of hair tszuj job what do you think? Should she have braids or maybe a big hairdo
or small hairdo? I think she should have small prints like that. I think. Sure. Shirt, skirt, what's short skirt?
See my English. It's going to have
a little bit of a different color pattern here. She's going to have timing legs. Should have tiny shoes, but with a little
little heel like this. I'll let you work down. She's she's holding something holding something in one lower this part a little
bit so it doesn't interfere with I think she's holding a candy came. When I was a little kid. We used to do this
kind of Keynes. Liver. Very, very sweet. We loved them. Wonder, Have you ever done a candy cane by
yourself? Maybe you should try. Of course, she's looking
at her or sweets. And done in the other hand, what she can be doing
with her other hand. I think she sold
them to candy canes. Actually. It's good to have two wheels to have
them spread apart. Case you eat to false. As usual, don't
worry about that. Everything is supposed to
look neat or anything. Just play around with the shapes and see what you can find. As I said earlier
with the ice is that if there are big and round, if you have the pupils, really big, diameter, it looks
very cute. Just like that. Of course, you can add
some eyelashes to. Also paint out a
little bit of texture. Just so you have to feel on
how the hair looks like. Let me should do
some black lines. I got to start with that ice. Since they are going to be an important part
of this drawing. And as I said earlier also, you can always switch to a character from voice
to girl to whatever. Maybe in your drawing
some time it will be a boy holding a candy cane. When I draw ears, I usually ask to add a
little bit of this shape. I will draw it a
little bit bigger. I usually draw
something like this. Just to simply valued
version of how the ear actually it
looks like it works. Maybe she has gotten
something that we call in Sweden is called Saturday candy. Because back in the days
when I grew up in Sweden, we only got candy on Saturdays. All other days was
forbidden to eat candy cane over K. In hindsight. But when you're a
kid and you know, there's candy in the house
and you really want to eat it and you have to wait
till Saturday. Oh my God. They always tried
to get your parents to give you candy
before Saturday him. But my parents wasn't
quite straight, so I think he was in the
long run towards good. Continue with the shoes. She's quite fashionable.
Fashionable shoes. Let's come out of the lycopods. Little bit of shadow
underneath her dress. And I wonder about what kind of pattern we should
have for the dress. What do you think?
Maybe should be? Checkered dress?
Something like this. Almost like to show support. That looks good to me else got to fill it in black. So there we have it. Go with her. Saturday, candy, being happy and she's full of anticipation
to eat the sweets. Very nice. So, see you in the next lesson and
continue to have great fun.
7. Two Cats: Flat Vs Volume: In this lesson, I think
we should draw two cats, one that is kind of flat
and one that has volume. So you can see the difference. We start with the
character is flat. I'm just going to draw almost like an egg shape,
but not completely. And it will be a little
bit as symmetrical. Find characters that are to submit metrical a
little bit boring, so I always try to mix them up. We will add a little
tail and tiny, tiny feet like this. And I'm, the face is
going to be around here. The little nose to
small eyes like this, and a little mouth. Whiskers. I usually just use three lines for whiskers
on either side, you can add more if you want to. Change this to
character a little bit. So just play around with it. And then we're going to add
two-way beers. Like that. Is Katie is kind of fat, so well-fed and probably
has a good home. Just going to define the
body a little bit better. Yeah, something like that. This is going to be the
flat Kitty. Next to it. I will draw something
that has more volume. I was taught, start
with the body. There's going to be a bowl. On top of that will be the head. That is also a bowl. And as I mentioned earlier, we will think about the
volume for this character. So imagine if the body
ball is transparent, you can see the
backside like this. And then the ball is not completely straight
forward like this. We turned a little bit. So it's a little bit
from the side like that. Don't worry about it. It's
supposed to be super perfect. This is just an exercise
to start to think about. While you also just play
around with the lines. And we'll start to imagine
how things have volume. And then we'll do the
same with the head. Like this. You have two squares. You can see the volume. What do you bio-metric
shape of both of them. And then we're going
to add feet for this one too. Little paws. Nobody else to add
on this slide. Back foot. Just like that. And I will add, um, it will be quite thick. So fluffy kitty. If you want another shape or another kind of tail, please do. Feel free to find whatever you think is best
for this character. We're going to add
a little triangle. Like this. Will make the ice a little bit
bigger for this cat. I'm going to add
the little mouth. Can be kinda cute, but
if you wanted to smile, they can use to add little shape on both sides like
this. Looks more happy. This one is maybe a little
bit grumpy or concentrated. Maybe it wonderous
about this cat, why it's shape is different. Now we've allowed airs for
this one to the other. Ears will be here. Like this. Now you see when
you have a swear in the bowl, you can start to
imagine that this area is fixed to the ball
here and other one is on the backside so that air is actually fixed to the
wall behind this shape. I will draw the d tastes later with a black belt
for, for the pause. Should have pupils to they
are looking at each other. As cats usually do is I can stare at each other for hours. Our care dislike that. It doesn't like to be inside. So it has been
linked with living outside for five years now. And there's quite a lot
of cats in the area on their their hobbies like staring
at each other for hours. They don't do anything
and it seems to be a good occupation for them. Oh, I forgot to put
whiskers on this one. It will be a little bit there will be a little
bit wobbly like this. This looks good. Now
for the black pencil, a little bit of cleanup. Start with the tail. Looks almost like
the candy cane. Actually. I think this drawing is spilling over into this one. If you prefer to
do these drawings on a single sheet of
paper, please do. If you think this is
getting too messy, I prefer to put all the
characters together because they are integrating
with each other eventually. But you should feel free to
do whatever you feel like. If you want to draw them
all singles or foot, all of the drawings
from the same paper. That's up to you. Okay. Let's make sure to
get this really felt. I know I'm allowed as usual, the contact to the ground. Let's put a little bit more
on toes on the cat like this. Then the nose, little mouth. Actually don't put the
white spot in the eyes. And you will see
that the cat looks completely different
than compared to the other characters. It doesn't have that
spark or anything. It looks more like. Maybe. This is why I asked
you to experiment with different shapes and different
ways of filling things because it changes
your character in a way that might
be very good. Continue with the
cat with volume. And as I see, I'm drawing. So this shape is on top of this one a
little bit more forward. Because this is important
when you draw lines later on, is that depending on
how you put the lines, it will make the character or the shapes shift a little
bit for them backwards. If I would have done,
done two opposite here, drawing these lines
on top of this file, it means actually the head is on the backside, the ears. And the same here. I'm drawing this line on top of the air that is actually
the shape is here. But when drawing like that means that this part is on
the backside of that. I think I will draw some petals are located
on the cat later on. Lots. Sure I not decided yet about what kind of
pattern should have. I'm just going to
say when you draw a nose and you want to have it like a sparkle or that it is a little bit
wet or whatever it is, you can always leave a
little bit of light, like with ice, and it gets a little bit of a
different appearance. I think I will make this cat
a little bit cross-side, because some cats are
really, really cross-side. They look really cute. So I shifted ice. So it's actually more
looking at something else, then please get that and under or blue whiskers,
something like that. Some toes. Also for the poor. That's going to make some
of the lights a little bit stronger of the weight. The cat. You feel that it's
sitting on the ground? Yeah. Something like that. Know about what kind of pattern. I don't know what
you want to prefer, but I think I will do. But it has a little bit of a black black spot on the table. And I think I will make just, let's see, this kind of pattern. It's a little bit cartoony. Maybe not yet looked
really looks like that, but still this kind of pattern. If you want to make it spotty or thicker lines that wherever, please, please do. Feel free to. Whatever you feel is
good for the cat. Something like this. I think I will make the ears
little bit darker also. On the same path down here. Super cute. Fill the
member a little bit. It looks almost like
the hairdo object, eula, from the black and white. Little bit more
focused on the eyes. No, no, we'll do
some shallow part connecting the character. So they actually sitting
in the same spot. I guess continuing
with my wobbly lines. So it's not super precise, but they are describing a
shadow fitting together. So now we have two cats. One that is very flat, it doesn't have
super much volume. One that has a lot of volume. And they have very different
kinds of characteristics. None of them are right or wrong. It's just different ways of drawing and try to
experiment with the other characteristic
that you have drawn so far and see if you can make them very flat or make them
very much with a volume, maybe add some more
shadow to them. Like if I draw. But add some shadow
here for the cat. May even make a
little bit darker. So the bowl form is
showing more like this. See what happens with the shape
that you're working with. Don't worry about
destroying your drawings. This is exercise. Exercise is so it's
just about finding and learning and having fun. Of course, that's the
most important thing when you draw actually
is to have fun. That is actually why
you will go back. Continue to draw again
and again and again. This is about having fun, because if it gets too serious, it actually destroys
her motivation. That's not what we're after. We are about having
fun and learning. And there you go. Two
cats, volume versus flat. See you in the next lesson.
8. One Face : Four Ways: In this lesson, we
will draw four phases. And it's actually going to be four different versions
of the same simple phase. We'll start by
drawing four circles. Very simple ones like this. A third world. Don't worry, they don't have
to be exactly the same size. We asked him to be circles
that are almost the same. It's not super important. So there you go. They have four circles that will be the
start of the faces. And I will draw guidelines. The circles. This
is to help to place the different shapes that
will be part of the face. We've drawn all of them. That's the same, not
super important, that is hundred percent the same place or straight
lines or anything. Since the awesome
exercise, you go. The first phase I will
start to draw is going to have a simple roundels. You can place. It should be
about where dislike goes. There. You have the nose
and then we'll have two big eyes like this. Gills tells them a
little bit connected to the little slide that why
you draw guidelines like that is because you can see it's very much more simple
to actually place the eyes and nose and everything in the more
symmetrical place. Symmetrical way. When you've
been drawing a lot of times, you don't need these slides, you will actually see
them in your head. They're already there. I think he musters. Right? Yeah. Something like that. Quite big pupils, eyebrows. Maybe it looks like it looks
a little bit surprised. I don't know if you can hear
it in the background while the birds are singing. Happy that spring arrives. They will not
interfere too much. Mustache. And remember
that the ears, you're asking me clear off
this line a little bit better. And they will be quite
centered around this line. On this slide. I will draw the same shape as I did in an earlier exercise like this. Also the opposite,
reverse like that. I think she will have fewer
hair lines like this. Little bit messy
hair. There we go. When I was taught
with other one. And this one, I will draw the nose much further
down like this and it will not be wrong. It will be oval, oval shaped. Like this. Mustaches. More droopy. He's ice is going to be more round. These are more although
who drove them or wrong? All right. Sharp from the lines
a little bit here. And then he will be
I think he will be cross-side actually like that. On his ears will be
up here instead. Lets you see when
you move around, is basically the same
kind of objects. You get a totally different
kind of character. This exercise is about just playing around and seeing that if you have filed something that you really
like about the character, but there's something that is, something that is missing. It isn't a good way to actually play around with the
character until you actually find the perfect way
of drawing that character. And then I think, I
think the hair will be like this with his character. I could come over. Summer was young too little. You have done them do
the later part of life. And let's see the
third character. I think his nose is going
to be more like a triangle, like that with the
rounded edges. And his eyes are going to be I think they're going to be oval like
this, this kind of shape. I'm using the guidelines to get the same distance
between the placement. I think he's mustaches going
to be quite big actually. Maybe not the right, really the same shape. I think he's going to be looking
like this big moustache. The finding the head shall
deface little bit stronger. His ears are going to be
placed the same as this one. They will be centered around this line here shape or a simple like this. And I think he will he will
be looking down like this. Maybe isn't very tall character. So he's actually looking down when he's talking to someone. I think his eyebrows are
going to be quite big. Like his mustache.
So a bit like this. Maybe this character doesn't
have so much hurried. Maybe his bold else to
fill it look like this. The fourth character. I think we're going to make
him quite a symmetrical. I'm also let's see. I think she's snow says
Come to be more protruding almost like you're like this. Like a banana shape. I'm just going to have one big, I'm smaller, one that is
squinting a little bit. Mustaches is gonna be
very curvy like that. This one is figured
other one like this. On this side, he has
a very big eyebrow. This one here somewhere is
much smaller. As you see. You can make a character
very symmetrical, or it can make us play around with it and
see what happens if everything is all lined up. His eyes. I think maybe he's looking up
little bit like this. Defining the outer edges. And that's usually just
play around the worry about the lime supposed to
be perfect or anything. This is just an exercise to
help you grow your skills. Course. The most important
part when you draw ways that you're
actually drawing is not about how good it
is or what kind of paper or pencil or whatever you think is the rules is
just about drawing it. I'm putting in. Fun and effort into it. I think his ears is going to be, maybe this one is a little
bit almost droopy like that. This one is going to be
quite big on this side. Yeah. Something like that.
Let's think he's hair is going to be little
bit more wide like this. Maybe solved racing
his car or something. Or maybe you put a
lot of hair gel into his and his morning routine? Yeah. Something like that. And I'm going to
clear off the lines. Starting with the nose. Should know eyebrows. Fill in, the mustache
shows quite dark. If you want to make the most protrude a little
bit sticking out, what you should do is to add quite a strong black line
underneath like this. You see the more I feel
that in the longer, longer it produce
above the mustache. And underfocus goals
into this area to same with the eyes. Can have very strong pupils. Eyebrows cell so you can
little bit more black to it. Here's feel when we got even more. Maybe yes, woke him up in their ear shape like this. Here with the eye ears. If I will draw this
line completely wrong, it means that the air is, will be on the
backside or might, might be some hair in the way. You can always play around with this and see what happens. What happens if you draw the line up to a
little bit like this? That means that this part
of the air is behind the, this part of the face. Same will happen up here also. If I do like this.
Well, it looks like there is usually only do
this part a little bit. And the rest will be, let's
say that this character actually has some hair I
will use to add air to it. Your style here I can see the Harris covering
this part of the array. Then continue with
the second character. Start with the nose. True being mustache. Pupils will do the same when it smells also has more black lines
underneath here. Out of this character, I will not put an
a minus on top. Well, they're just sticking out two number lines for the same here, like
we did with the nose. If you add a little bit more, dark children leads to mustache. You lift it out from
this part of the face. The shim. Second character. Then we go to the third one with the triangle nose. Otherwise, this
character looks a little bit scary and this is why there's a huge difference. How you draw the eye shapes. Round eyes usually
means in the cells. It looks cute. More open. If the character is squinting. Get to cope, lead to
different appearance. Is also the same way how
you angle the eyebrows. Imagine that we will draw the eyebrow more
angular like this. It means actually, this angle means that you're not angry. You're maybe curious or wandering or maybe does to
you while you're smiling. If you will draw the eyebrow more towards the
middle, I like that. You can see it looks more angry. So please play around
with these kind of features and try
different shapes, some methods of getting where
your character is supposed to go. The monsters. This one in to the strength of the leaf, the moves like that. This is same here.
If you want this to. A more important to
some more volume, can be us to add more
dark lines like that. And they were beautiful pop-out. Them to go to the
symmetrical character. See how he's doing. You know, if he's driving a car or
maybe he's found in his hair, something is going on. At least. You can actually see that he is probably thinking
about something. Just imagine what
your characters have going on in their head. That can give you great ideas to how to evolve the character and add
or subtract things. Like, what kind of clothes
does the character have? What kind of environment
is the character? Is it eating something special or occupation doesn't have? As you see here, if I draw the eyebrow very
close to the eye, gets a different appearance
of the character. It looks more stern. If you go even higher
up with this one. It looks more curious
or surprised. If you have a little bit more on distance between the eyebrow and I can either remove a
little bit of blue. Almost like in the warm-up. Just do vary wildly. Lives, living wild and crazy. When this character,
I think we will just be a team player. Like that. There we go. Four different
characters, but based on the same shape from
the first one. And they have completely
different appearance, demeanour, and personality. So please continue to play
around with this exercise. And you will find very
exciting characters. Good luck.
9. Simple Perspective and Depth: In this lesson, we will go through simple way
to draw perspective. And this is to help
get dumped thing or drawing away or simulate
depth on a flat surface. So if you can imagine
that you have a stick almost like a pencil. It's round and you will draw
it straight from the side. It will look like this. Like a rectangular shape. What will happen if you will
see it more from the side? We will be looking like this. It'll be around the sides. And you will see this side. This looks a little bit
more interesting maybe than this, this shape. But imagine that we will
really turn it out like this. So this side is going to
be much, much bigger. We will use the same shape. Here. Imagine that you
have the shape going bad. We'll draw the same thing here. But this slide is
very much bigger. It's very close to worry. It doesn't have to
be perfect shapes. Describing the shape. This will look
something like this. Make this troll or two, since it's closer to you. It's the same object. It's just described
in different ways. Here it's very, very flat. Here you start to see some
volume Hello of southern here. This is really popping
up towards you and I will also fill this
in then black, then you will see even
a bigger difference. So the flat version first show where you just see the slide, but it's still quite flat. And then this one that is much more treaty like that, that would make this stronger
since it's closer to, you know, you have three different ways
of drawing the same object. None of them is right or wrong. It's just different ways of describing your
drawing your picture. And you can always
elaborate around by using these shapes and see what is right for
what you're drawing. Next, we're going
to draw apparel, legs, some feet. Imagine that. You'll see the legs like this. Very straight. Then you have your feet sticking
out like this. Quite straight lines and
it looks quite flat. But imagine if you
were actually watching your feet from your
point of view, you're looking down.
All of a sudden. It will look
something like this. So your feet and legs not have the same
proportions anymore. Instead of a straight
line I will make around like they understood this. Instead of having
the feet this size, I will make them even
a little bit smaller. To show that they
are further away. Like that. Then you have a perspective going
down into the ground. This cool look much
more interesting. To describe the direction you're looking down on something. Maybe this person is actually. Standing next to the seaside
looking at some fish. Or maybe he's looking
down to try to find a kitten that has been
hiding in the kitchen. And the volume of
the legs like this. So there we have two
different ways of describing the same
kind of barreled eggs. I'm just trying to find what is most interesting
for your character. So imagine that you have a character where
your strawberries, simple character. Round head. Looking sideways,
still nose and eyes? Yes. Simple arms and hands,
something like that. Standard like this. With his feet angled like that. And how to describe a
little bit more depth because if it's
straight from the side, legs will be the same size. Would only be the
difference as this leg is closer to you
than the other one. But what would
happen if we want to have some perspective of this? I will just enlarge this area. He imagined that his legs
are going down like that. And then you have the
first foot like this. I will just make it a
little mirror looking like a shoe them this shape. Instead of drawing them equally. To get a little bit more
depth into your picture, the other leg is better, that is a little bit smaller. I'm also imagine that
if you have lines going to appoint over here,
something like that. A simple point. That means
that if this foot is this big and it follows the
same form of this line, the other foot is
supposed to be behind it. It will be, they're going
to, they're like that. Hello dislike, but
also like this. All of the sudden you
have perspective into your picture and it
gives a better dynamic. Somebody just clear this up by drawing a stronger line, sir. More black. The contact to the ground. You have this Voltaire trousers. So bias drawing, support lines. It's much easier for you to get a little bit more
perspective in your picture. So imagine if you could
draw a character. A simple one from the front. Body. Harms. Very,
very simple character. Smile. Some years,
something like that. I don't like that. We'll make two examples. Emergency that you will draw a similar character that's about the same size and
they're standing next to each other. Looking like this. That will mean that they
are quite flat towards you. But what will happen if you actually draw them
in some perspective? We will do that together. You can place this dots
almost everywhere, but let's say that this
is about the same height as the withdraw the
Dr. about there. We'll draw guidelines
to that dot the tip of his feet.
Something like that. From the edge always
had the same line. Shoulder, showbiz. Know if it's a skirt
or whatever it is, it looks like you're
visiting aliens. Maybe, you know, you
have guidelines, toolbars, all the body parts. Then you really ask, decide about where to place
the character. Say that you want to have
them above this area. So you know where the
shoulder is supposed to be, not where the head
is supposed to be. Like this. Draw the facial
features. Stress. The other arm, his legs, his feet. Just like that. And
all of a sudden, you have a perspective, a depth into your picture. And this is how the brain works. If the character
looks quite similar, your brain will say that, well, if they are similar, this guy must be further
away to make sense. And this is actually how
you can trick your brain. Will also fill in the
lines to make it clearer. Because your brain
is always trying to make sense of what you see. Like there's no worry
about the precision. Practice. Remember that? Let me just add a little
bit of shade for both. A little bit. Of course, to still be a little bit
of shade on the ground. What too much? Let's make sure
that the lines on this character is stronger, the lines of this, well, to help gain more depth
into the picture. There you go. Very
simple perspective rule. Draw your character, place
a point, draw guidelines. And then you can place maybe
a third guy back here. And yells, continue to
play around with this. Imagine that you
have two characters standing next to each other. Will continue to do
this very simple form. One here. One here. You'll see the upper
part of the character. His nose, eyes, Little smile. Simple, air. Like that. Same here. So they look almost the
same, quite similar. Imagine that the characters are holding their hand in
front of them towards you. But this is two
ways of doing it. Hi, do you draw the
hand? Like this? Maybe it's just saying hi or
friendly wave. Like this. Somebody else clear
away the other lines. We'll fill this in with black. There we go. The blurred. So you can actually see
what's going on. Like that. The rest of the shape. This is also a
thing I usually do is that to describe the shape
of the hand inside of it. Almost like when
I draw the areas that I usually do this
form for the thumb. Then I draw a line here. Something like this, is just to give some
shape to the palm. So this guy is holding out
his hand. You can feel it. But what will happen if you
exaggerate the hand a lot? And you make it
much, much bigger. Like this big, very, very big. So remove old lines
a little bit, make it a little bit clearer. Shape. You see, you immediately
get another kind. But attention to your drawing. When you accelerate
the shape. This much. I will always fill in the rest of its
fields that the hand and the arm is really
sticking out towards you. Feel a little simple. Face shapes like that. Making much stronger black
lines around the home too. There you see. Same character, same but completely
indifferent ways of doing it. The other way of describing
perspective that you feel that this hand is
coming towards the camera, gives more drama to the picture. I don't say that this slide or this is right or
wrong or whatever. It's just a different way of describing the same situation. But in this case, you make it more dramatic. So please choose whatever
you feel is right for your drawing and continue to have fun and
experiment with this. Maybe it's a foot sticking
out or maybe he's holding out ice cream or whatever your thing you can
have as an example. And try to experiment and elaborate with these
shapes and forms. Another way to describe
that is to work with shade. Let's say that we have there. Just draw a simple egg-shaped
two little legs, feet. Snow, nose. Here's maybe a little hats. Little top hat. Fancy. I'm just going to
leave the house long to sites like that. Clean up the lines
and make them more. Then you can maybe start to imagine what kind
of bear disease. Summary. Good thing to
do when you're drawing. Just let your imagination go. Let's see where it leads
you. Down the nose. A little bit crooked, looks
a little bit of smile. Find his toes a little bit. Yeah, something like that. Done. Imagine that there is another
character standing behind him appearing out like this. Let's say that this character
is some kind of a cat, maybe straw simple
slot for this cat too. And you shouldn't
have a triangle. Nose, eyes. It will smile.
Something like that. You see these two character
has quite equal value, so they are quite flat together. If I start to define this character more strongly,
usually add weight. Under his feet. Can
be quite rough. And his little hat, it's probably gone to some
fancy tea party or something. So now you see that since
the lines are stronger, this character is coming out little bit and this is
going in the background. Let's come out a little
bit of shadow to this. There you go. If you may
dislike stronger to. The character will also be coming closer up
to the foreground. If these lines have
the same value there, like on the same
position towards you. And what you can
do is that if you add very slight shade
to this character, doesn't have to be very stroke. Something like that. You'll see this
character is going more behind the
bear in the front. You can exaggerate
the line here too. This is a very simple way to
describe the depth of field. Just add a little bit of shade and you can
experiment with how strong shadow
you hope to have. Maybe this character is
really going into the dark, almost like a silhouette. I'm just trying to go
forth and back when you're doing this exercise. I'm trying to see while
I was working the best for the picture or the drawing you're doing
at the moment.
10. Pirate With Parrot: In this lesson, we're
going to draw a pirate. The parents, why
not use the girl? Drew earlier with
the candy canes as a base for this character. Start with a bowl. Swear for her. And her dress. Legs. Maybe just the same kind of shoes this earlier.
Can imagine that. Maybe she has a tech leg.
Since he was a pirate. I think she should
have big pirate hat. So maybe she is the
captain of the ship. Bb. Perfect. Number. The nodes are big, beautiful eyes will go under her out just a
little bit like that. She does a big, big smile. Number, how that breeds. Along this side, you
can draw the hair. So the face is actually a
little bit on top of her. To give him a little bit
more volume to the face, a little bit of
variation. Select that. Her dress was
Schechter last time, but this time I think she only has a little
patch like that. So maybe her dress was ripped a little bit
and she has fixed it. Of course there should
be some kind of Scotland bones home her. You can just draw it very rough. If you make very soft forms, it doesn't look so scary. You can drive a different kind
of designs for the skull. Let's see what is
best for her hat. I'm leaving her
eyes because I was drawing the pair ethnics are and I want them to
look at each other. So in this arm, this hand, she's gone, hold some money bag, your straw, the ball first and then you
can add some of the fingers. The bag. In this case, I don't draw the last finger because I'm going to push
it out with a little, little bit to this side because the bag is going
to be quite big. So it fits in her hand. It's almost down to the ground. Something like that. You can add maybe a monkey
symbol of some kind. Maybe it's taller, maybe
it's, could be a Bitcoin. Maybe. She is a modern pirates. So you never know. This isn't this house. She's going to I was sort of some kind. I think she actually,
we'll be leaning more like this. Hold the sword. Will do this shape
instead of the heel. Good to draw lines like this. So you know, approximately where things are supposed to be. This sort is going to be stuck
into the ground, I think. So. The tip is not showing
so heavily us do like this. So he disorder is actually
stuck into the ground. Will be the cutting edge like
this, something like that. Now we can continue with
the pirate parents. I think the parents
would be sitting on top of some kind of stick to stick that comes
out from the ground. Amount of stick across like that will be angled a
little bit like this. You'll see the M
there will decide. Yes, this is good. We start with the
body of the parents. You can make first kind of an oval shape for
its body. Like this. Hello, top there you will
add another oval shape, almost like an egg for the head. And then you draw them
together like that. You can have when you have the big parts of
this kinda beach. I think you should. I think
it's good that he's happy. Happy, happy. But of course it should
have an eye patch. Proper. Parents on the border, pirate ship should
have an eye patch. Then my last comment
out some flimsy call feathers on
top of the head. Almost like your hairdo. Like feathers for where the head is sticking out like that. Then we have the little
toes where it's sitting. First leg. To make it a little bit thicker. You have the tail of a parent can go from
both sides like this. One of the fathers
of sticking out a little bit more detail to the sittings day. There you go.
There's the parent. And then the girl is
going to look at it. And it's very good that you can always draw a
line from where the eyes are going to be
too, where she's looking. And it's usually
don't see the INR, but she's looking at
when I supposed to be. It's eye to eye. So it has eye contact or something like that. It looks quite good. So start thinking the character. More details by
adding black lines. Going to do the braids first. Then continue with the face. The mouth, little target cells. This girl, even though she has
the same features as to go over the candy canes look quite different
now in their new role. And this is very
exciting to do as an exercise that you say to
take the same character. But you add the
details, clothes. Imagine different kinds of
occupations and y or months. Whatever it can be. Hello, We'll add quite
a strong line here. So you really feel the
weight of the hat. Continue with Scotland polls. I will not put too
much pressure on this because I don't want
all the focus to go up here. The focus is supposed to be
around the rice instead. But I will blacken it. Like kinda have to live it. Don't worry if you've crossed
the lines or anything. This is just a sketch
about practice. So just feel free to
let your mind go. Do the dress. Her legs, and their particular we're going to add some weight
to her like that. I'm also do shading. You feel that the legs are
underneath the sketch. Detail to the patch dress. One arm holding the sword. A lot, one other fingers show a little bit
on the other side. There you can add just
a little bit more black also that you feel the weight of her hand clean up the Saudi little bit where the sort of
sticking into the ground. I'm also you can add a
little bit of shade. Beneath the hat. On the side. She's holding the money back. It's probably asked her
savings to Sheryl Sandberg. She's not a real pirate. Pirates because she's
actually a very kind person. Let's just nice to dress
up from time to time. Through the pirate,
starting with the stick. Shoot go Altair also going to add a little bit
of shadow on this side. Then I will add a little bit more weight to
the blackness on this side, so it actually pops up
Towards you quickly. Do the hand on the belly. Feathers. Pump, forget
to both the smile. Parent is probably happy because her best friend is
coming home from school. And they can play, dress up as pirates and play feathers. Wings. Tail feathers can add little bit of
shade there too. Can actually show
you the whole thing. Just very likely. You'll see that shade this part underneath
this quite nicely. I will also say the
belly a little bit, a little bit more flat. So you can feel the
weight of the bell here. Yeah. Looks very nice. I usually do just do a little
bit scribbly. Lines. Who tried to come back to two characters are in the same area. And there's no need to have
extra weights beneath here. Actually, the most
important is the roundup. Correcting parts to the ground. Yeah, something like that. It looks really good.
What do you think? I think she's a
great pirate girl with her best
friend, the parrot, has continued to practice
with this and you can swap the girl for a guy or maybe have a cat or a dog or whatever you feel is
fitting to your character. Good luck and see you
in the next lesson.
11. Business Dog: So next up is a business dog. I think it's going to be
quite fat or stout, dark. We'll start with
drawing almost like a cylinder. Like this. You can imagine that you have a head up here
who's going to have a bit of a ridge towards
the nose like that. Then the body and the head a
little bit around this area. So he's going to have
quite a big head, quite fat, fat body. Then we can draw his
mouth like this. Maybe smiling just a little
bit. Something like that. Quite big nose. I think he will have sort of
glasses, sunglasses. Cool dog. Going up like that. Little bit of shader. We're going to add droopy ears growing out from there. Then the margin that
if this error is here, the other one was collected
just behind the head. Draw it up here.
Something like that. With dogs, they don't
also have whiskers, but they're not so big. Yes, we'd cats. So instead of drawing
lines like that, you can do instead is to
add little spots like this. Also, a little bit on the other
side. Just a few of them. Just to make a little
bit of a marking here. And asked for a body. I think this dog is
going to have some kind of suit on with a tie. So we can start by
drawing the tie here. Little bit. It'll tie. He will have a short dollars. So let's draw the flaps. I'm done. It will tie up in a, you can draw just one bottle. Bottom. Shoe wear the suit is pulled together. Define this shapes a
little bit better. Also, you can show that the cat, that the dog is a bit fatter. You can actually add
just a little bit of weight protruding out
from the side like this. So you actually spills over a little bit little bit of fat. Define the ears. Also better. Yeah, something like that. Frames of the glasses is probably not the coolest or late as models when it
comes to the sunglasses, but it takes days. This is style. Maybe is a
little bit old fashioned. If you want to add
the rest of the room, you can also do it, but I prefer to actually
have it like this. It doesn't have to be realistic. It's more about the character. Gets the best look.
According to you. The wildfire map.
Flaps here too, with the mouth or
can make them round and a little bit wrong shape to the bottom
part of his mouth. Something like that. And then
we're going to add legs. Imagine that there
is a center of the head here, where
the weight is. From, that there is
a spike going down. Then you have hips inside the
dog like this. From there. The legs will come
down just like this. So small shoes. When it comes to perspective, if you will view this
dog from the side. Of course, this leg will
be a little bit bigger, a little bit farther
down that other leg. Then I will show you
a little example. You can change your character. Imagine that. Imagine that you have your legs
drawn on the paper. Just like this. What will happen if you move those leg
farther back or forward? It changes the weight
of the character. Of course, well, I have
my legs like this. There will be a huge
weight on this side. So the spine and the back
will be a very strong part. And he's got William
sort of hangover. But if I play some more
here he is more centered. You feel the weight
going more straight down and there is weight both the front and
the back of him. And I encourage you to
do this kind of exercise to switch the leg
position forth and back to see that
the character is actually changing and
his weight is changing. To compare this to this,
there is a difference. There's no right or wrong. It's just different ways of giving characteristics
to your character. Actually make shoes little
bit darker like this. Then he will have arms. Hold his arm towards his body. Yes. The bowl with
a little foam. Then you can add some
small fingers like this. I would clean this up
later with a black lines. So he's just standing
quite casual. Then we will add black lines. Start with the ears. This time. We'll continue with the nose to nose, anatomically correct. Dogs have actually most drills and there are quite
complicated shape, but I will just make
it very simple. Since we are doing a
cartoon character, making it quite dark. Leaving some white here to show some reflection and
also a little bit dumb. Wetness. His mouth. The little fat. Link, continue with the glasses. You can have them transparent. And if you want to,
maybe his eyes showing. I can do that. You'd like to. But I will add some
shades instead of law, we'll also show you a
little bit what you can do via the reflection. Stroke. Quite dark
parts like this. Then it will be not as dark
next to the light part. There we have a reflection. Same on the other side. Little bit lighter
next to the live part, will make this line a
little bit stronger. So the glass is going a little
bit behind the nose shape. Add some dark to
the whisker spots. Don't make this too dark because they're
supposed to be more like a texture or a pattern that shouldn't be in much too much
focus on this. So in this character, focus is going to be the
nose and the glasses. Then we are continuing
with the body. Will make the tie
quite dark too. But not as dark as the nose to nose is still going
to be the darker spots. Doctors placing the
drawing, the bottom, the arm to his thumb to lead a little bit of feeling for his
fingers like that. So he's holding his
fingers like this. Then the legs, his shoes. I think he has almost light like whites use with dorks. Souls like that.
And then of course, add the weight to the
ground underneath him. And then do a little
bit of shading. Can show it even more on here. So the legs are going
underneath the suit. If you want to have more weight. Focused on the head, Eurostar, this little strings
to these black lines. Laurie see that this popping out a little bit stronger. Lines. Remember glasses. Don't worry about the lines. Do what feels natural for you. And I will do a
little bit of shading underneath the glasses
here a little bit. Maybe that was a bit too much. Can always go back
and erase things. If it doesn't fit
your character. Throw this slide in a little
bit stronger instead. I'll also go back to making sure the frame is
showing properly. Yeah, something like that. If we want to, we can add
maybe has some small eyebrows. Come here too. See
how that feels. Deciding what you feel is
right for the character. Yeah, it looks quite good. Actually. Combine them in
a little bit stronger. There we go. Your
business doggy. Remember? Tried to
experiment with a wait and see what happens. With a weight on the way
the character changes, depending on what you're
very moved the legs. The last thing, some shade
underneath the character. Some popular like, there you go. I hope you have enjoyed
this course and feel inspired to continue expanding
your creative world. Keep drawing and experimenting
with the characters. And please, please
show your work. They are going to be amazing.
