About This Class

Growth Mindset VS Fixed Mindset. Positive Beliefs VS Limiting Beliefs. On the surface, we all like to profess our love for hard work and especially our admiration for those who, against all odds, through sheer force of will and willpower manage to get themselves to the place they want to be in.

This class is part of The Mindset Series: (learn more by clicking the title)

  1. Better Mindset: Learn to Go From The Fixed Mindset to THE GROWTH MINDSET!
  2. Growth Mindset: How You Can Go From Limiting Beliefs to POSITIVE Beliefs!

However, our lives… They often tell different stories about our mindset.

If we often defend the idea that hard work is at the root of every major success, then why is it so difficult to believe that we can also do it. Working hard is within everyone’s reach. Then why don’t we do it? Consistently putting off to the day after what can (and should) be done today?

This glass ceiling is the fixed mindset.

It is made of limiting beliefs, mental shortcuts that might have been useful once but are in desperate need of editing.

What will you learn in this course?

  • What truly is the fixed mindset and it's most important limiting aspect.
  • The difference between The Growth Mindset and the fixed mindset.
  • How! How you can intentionally change your mindset that is outdated in order to put a new and beneficial one in place.

This class is not designed only for people looking to change their mindset. The main goal of this course sequence is to adopt THE GROWTH MINDSET. All the courses in the mindset series are designed to make you change your perspective and hopefully help you design a world where it is easy to do the right things at the right time for the right reasons.

1. 01 Welcome: Hi, thank you for joining us for this new course series. After focusing on discipline, habits, and behavior, Let's dig more deeply into the science of the mind. Make the switch is a new course sequence focused on changing our mindset. Because the way we think is ultimately reflected in the life we live. Today, we are specifically looking at beliefs. In fact, you are going to uncover how to go from limiting beliefs to positive beliefs. In this class, you are going to learn what truly is a belief? Why you should be very prudent with your thoughts? And what is the number one important aspect of limiting beliefs? Limiting beliefs and negativity are not always synonyms and why actually it's very important to make the distinction. Of course, how by looking at the theory and putting it together with the different activities that you are going to be able to download, you will finally be able to answer the question, how, how can I intentionally changed my limiting beliefs into beliefs that are not only positive, but also beneficial to my whole life. If those changes sound good to you and you are ready to learn, please keep watching. I can't wait to see you on the other side. Thank you. 2. 02 What Is A Belief?: Thank you for taking the time to take this course. Let's start with what is truly a belief, what I call the anatomy of a belief. If you have to really summarize what is a belief at the very core of it. It's simply a shortcut, a mental shortcut. It's made, it's made to save you two things. One, the energy of your body and especially the energy of your brain to time makes it, it is made to make you save time. This is very important to understand. What is really important for your brain is not really truly important for your mind. It's not the same thing. The brain is the matter. It is simply the physical matter. And the mine is the consciousness. When you say I want to achieve this and that, your brain does not understand that your brain is absolutely about survival. And the shortcuts is helping it to achieve its survival goal. Because it's easier and it saves energy. At the most basic level. A belief is just an opinion, an opinion that you keep entertaining for X amount of time. And I would say an opinion or a thought for me, they are interchangeable. It's just a thought that you keep thinking so that it became so big that one day you just call it, I believe. But really at the core of it is just an opinion, a fact that you keep thinking. That's it. 3. 03 The Most Important (and Troubling) Aspect of Limiting Beliefs: What is the number one most important aspects with limiting beliefs? That is perspective. I believe the fundamental problem with limiting beliefs comes from the prospective. And changing your perspective is not that easy, but it's also not that hard. I mean, it's the answer to the question, how are you going to take what is happening to you? It is a question of mantle distance. What is happening is happening no matter what it is going to happen. But how you are going to first take it and secondly respond to it is completely a matter of perspective. It is completely a matter of seeing it from an angle or from another angle. Once again, it's not what is happening. What is happening is happening. There is nothing we can do about it. The accidents or winning the lottery. Both of them completely separate, but still it is happening. But how you are going to react, how you are going to look at what is happening is completely up to you. Really. For me, when I look at the problem of perspective, it's important because it creates a huge paramount belief. This belief is there is a limit. There is a limit. There is a limit on everything. There is a limit on what I can do. There is a limit on what I can have. There is a limit on who I can be. I know I heard a lot in my coaching. I heard a lot of people saying, Well, that's it. I'm never done a find love again. Or also, That's it. I'm never gonna be able to be rich. That's now I'm dead. That's it. Or that's it. I'm never gonna be able to lose those pounds or kilos. That's it. It's the mentality of, that's it. This is why perspective is so, so, so important. And this is why actually we are focusing on, in this class. 4. 04 Why Editing Our Beliefs is So Vital?!: Why changing our beliefs is the most important thing in order to achieve anything in life. In fact, a lot of our beliefs were in that even chosen by us. They were simply implemented by your culture where you are coming from, your education. You simply did not choose them. They were implemented so early in your life that you didn't even think if they were right or wrong, true or false. This whole course is about that idea. Imagine a world where you could simply look at your beliefs, categorize them. Second, choose your beliefs, hopefully better beliefs. And third, edit your beliefs. Replace the ones that don't serve you anymore. Maybe they serve you in the past, but now they are outdated. You need to change them. So edit those beliefs and put ones that are positive and beneficial to the goals that you have. Today? Was discussing this with my wife and she told me something. She told me if I have the chance to edit my beliefs, there is one thing that I noticed is every, every time I do something I feel like it's really average. And the second thing is I feel like I didn't really took the opportunities when they came to me. And the beliefs that I would like to adopt or more, me, I can do. And this is my wife talking. I can do as much as the other successful women that I'm watching on YouTube that I know I can, I can really generate a good life and good money for myself. And if other women did it, yeah, maybe I can do it also. Lets the kind, this is, this is the exercise that is proposed with this class. You can really look at your beliefs, the ones that you have right now and those that are not serving you. And what is, what is it that you want to achieve right now? You can edit those beliefs. You can consciously, intentionally choose better beliefs and write them. This is, this is really important. What you write is ultimately going to be putting your mind. Otherwise you are going to forget about the exercise about error, everything. I have my own beliefs. I am proposing some in the exercise. You can look at them, but you can also prepare your own. And I really believe that if you do the exercise, if you take the time to really look at what is it that you want to achieve and come up with your own beliefs? They will serve you well. 5. 05 Are All Limiting Beliefs... Negative?!: All limiting beliefs negative? I don't think so. I think some beliefs, even They are, even if they are limiting your behavior are quite good for you Actually. Let's take for example, Karma. I tend to believe that karma exists. If you do good by people, they will do goodbye you. And if you do bad by people, well, they, they will probably do bad. And it is limiting my ability. It is limiting my behavior. That's for sure I can not do anything and everything I wanted to certain people that I don't like. Yes. But that's also good for my health, for my mental half, especially I'm not doing anything and everything I would like to think of simply because I know that it will come back at some time. So another kind of limit is, for example, my health. I tend not to go to restaurants. I don't like much restaurants. I tend to believe that the cuisine of my wife is better for me. We are French, so It's all good for me. But this is clearly limiting my behavior, but it's also saving my health. Another type of question is, if I, if I am going to doubts my beliefs, am I going also to be, have problems in spiritual beliefs? For example, will I, then, will I forget about God? Am I going to question the existence of God? Am I going also to question very big troops in my life, like the love that I have for my children or my parents or for my husband or wife. And I think it stems from a misunderstanding of the kinds of belief that, that actually exists. Those are the spiritual beliefs. Those are very high. When we speak about God, we speak about very high beliefs. We, certain people call them truths. I'm not going to discuss that in this course. It's simply out of it. I am not going to make you think about either you should change our unnatural spiritual beliefs. I am going to look at identity beliefs first. These are the beliefs that you can, you can answer by the, by asking yourself, who am I? Also the question, also the value beliefs. And those are the one, those big ideas that have value and are good to transmit, transfer to our kids, for example. Those ideas that are worth fighting for freedom, for example. Also, we have capability beliefs. Those are simply asking the question, what can I, what am I able to do? We are, we have also behavioral beliefs. And those beliefs, they are about the actions or the habits that we have on a daily basis. Finally, we have environmental beliefs. And those beliefs are so they are so big and so intricate into your life that you don't even think about them. We just accept them. We just accept them as being true. It's good to give to poor people. No one in his right, in his or her right mind will tell you, no, this is not giving too bad. Giving to poor people is bad. Yeah. I mean, we can discuss it but for the sake of argument, but usually is just really, yes, it's good to give to poor people. This is also the kind of big ideas that we then not maybe to say out loud, but we have them. White people are like that, brown people are like that, black people are like that. For example, also the cost of living, it tends to augment. In our world. Usually it works like that. We don't have really the cost of living going down. This is, this is simply something that we don't even think about. It is simply true. Those higher hierarchy of beliefs is very important. And this is why I think not all limiting beliefs are negative. This is why it's good to stop. Pause and think about what the, about the kind of beliefs that you are entertaining. If they are good for you, if they are entertaining a good behavior, and if it's good for your mental health, well, maybe it's not worth changing, even if usually people are going to say no, this is limiting you in certain ways. I don't believe going. Yes. I like to go to restaurants, but I believe it's bad for my health. I simply don't go. This is not something that is up for discussion with people. This is an exercise that is important to do. Take the time to look at your behavior, categorize your behavior, and see if it's doing, if it's serving you well or that in your life. 6. 06 How You Can Effectively Change Your Beliefs Part 1: How can I change my beliefs? Part one, there is an exercise that I absolutely love. It's called bridging your beliefs. We are going to do it together so that you can see how it's, how it's working. It's coming from someone called Abraham Hicks. I urge you to check her out on YouTube. There are some beliefs that are so big. So out of what we are used to think that it is simply very difficult to just put them in our system. Just like that, it simply doesn't work. So here is, for example, how I'm go, how we can do it for the belief, for a belief about wealth. For example. Step one is following your following a budget per month. Where we're going with this is is it possible that I'm already rich and it's in, it's really far out. It's on purpose to make you understand how we connect, how we bridge our beliefs. We start with following a budget. Can you do that for a month? I think everyone can follow a budget. It's not going to be perfect. Maybe you will miss a few days, but hopefully weekend follow the budget. Yes, it requires some efforts. It's requires maybe some sacrifices. But ultimately, not really big mental efforts is just establishing our budget and following the budget and make us make simple math at the end of the month. No needs to be a genius hair. From this step, we go to the second one. Maybe I can generate some money for my own. Actually, I'm already doing it. This already starts to shift. I am making some money just by following the budget. The important thing in terms of money to understand it's not what you make, it's what you keep. The very thing of keeping more money is actually making you more money. It's really just a question of balance. That's it. Is it possible that I can generate some money? The answer is yes. I follow the budget. I spent less money. I have more money. I generated some money. Then let me ask you the question about being rich. What is exactly being rich? I believe being rich is not about Lamborghini or big, huge ships or atom. No, I believe it is financial autonomy. That's it. It's simply the act. It's simply the freedom not to give my time against dollars or euros or rupees or whatever. That is. Being rich. Being rich is being in control of my time. What I do in my day belongs to me and I don't have to trade my time against money that is going to be helping me to live. If I take that definition. Am I not already in a certain way Rich? If I, if I, if I define being rich only by having money, yes, I will have problems believing that I am rich. But if I define it by other metrics, and for me it is time. I am rich because my time belongs to me. I don't have to trade it for you. Let me ask you. Are you already rich in certain areas of your life? You already rich. And I always like to put this example. If you have kids that you love, if you have parents that you love, you have anyone that you are not willing to trade for money. Well, you are rich. That's it. You can give me any amount of billion of dollars of Euros or whatever. I'm not I'm not selling one of my kids. I Am Rich, I am a father and for me, this is the most important thing in my life. Let me take a second example here. It's about nutrition and health in general. Step one, I am going to take you to, is it possible that I heal myself? This is a far off belief. I have. Ms. For example, I don't know, this is not the case then God, but let's think about if I have MS, I can I change? Can I really put my health? First-place? Step one, I am going to consume differently. I am going to eat differently. I am going to drink less soda, eat less things that are bought from Walmart or wherever from restaurants also. And I am not going to go to restaurants as much as I used to. Can I do that? I believe this is not this is not very difficult to do. Can I change a step two? Can I change the way I eat, for example? Yes. Especially if I'm if I have this kind of sickness, Yes, I need to change the way I eat. Can I start making home cook cuisine for myself? Yes, I believe I can go on YouTube and actually I did that for myself also. I went on YouTube and I just took my, we call it cookie dough here it's a cooker simply. I started to, I started to prepare some stuff myself. That's it. Step free by understanding more how my body functions. How how eating certain kinds of foods can help my body. And I understanding more than needs of my body. Can I simply at least pause my disease? At least just pause it. Not really cure it, but just making it so that it doesn't push as hard as usual. And step four, can I look for people that have already cured certain of their disease by understanding more their body. Some people, some people cure their diabetes, seven people cure their MS. Some people even cure their cancer. I'm not saying it is possible. I am saying that. Can I do it by looking for the proofs and changing some things in my nutrition. Maybe at least I can live better. And that's the whole, that's the whole goal of changing limiting beliefs is just thinking, taking another perspective here. It's not about really thinking if it's right or wrong. In this case, really, it's really important to state that you have to consult your doctor. He's or she is the most important person related concept. But it's just really, we're talking about beliefs. Were talking about kidney. Can I really do something in order just to change my perspective on my disease? I believe this, we can all do it and it leads to better living. 7. 06 How You Can Effectively Change Your Beliefs Part 2: How can I change my limiting beliefs, part two. This is about self-talk. Self-talk is the talk that you are always, always, always having with yourself. Hits the inner voice. That is sometimes not just inner, sometimes it's just out loud. And it is not always saying that best stuff about us. So self-talk is a great, great, great exercise and there is a lot of science behind it. So I'm not going to go into it is just that. I am taking you through an exercise where just about three steps. First, uncovering your actual beliefs. Second, writing down those beliefs and writing new beliefs better, positive beneficial beliefs, and simply do the exercise. Just drill them inside. So that at some point, the first thing that you think is the new edited belief. I want to edit and change my beliefs. This is something, for example, that I had for a very long time. Now I'm too old. For XYZ. I am 40 years old. I cannot succeed anymore. This is something that is I like to, I like go and find those people that actually made it and just switch, make the switch. For example, I'm gonna take the Colonel Sanders, who actually at 65, started to look for a way to enjoy actually his last years is simply because when he got his first pension check, he was really, really thinking how am I going to cope with that amount of money? And the history says that after more than one hundred, ten hundred nodes, finally he got someone to say yes to his chicken recipe and develop what we know today as KFC. I always loved to do this kind of exercise. Take the older belief and find something that corresponds. Really use always the same pattern. If, and then if you are coding, you know what I mean? If I am too old, van colon, colon, those handlers was 25 years older than you. And then I always like to think this way and this is the exercise that I propose you, is just a question of taking IF and then learn them. And every time you have negatives, feed negative self-talk that pops in your mind. You know that you have another belief to put in front of it. A better, more beneficial belief. 8. 07 A Quick Last Word: A quick last word. No matter what you think, you are going to do anything and everything in your power to prove it, right? We all do it. I do it, you do it. We all do it in this world. We just take reality, we take truth, and we twisted in a way so that it finally corresponds to our beliefs. It doesn't have to be true, it doesn't have to be real, but it's what we do. I really deeply believe that Henry Ford was right when he said, no matter if you think you can do it or that you are right. And that's because he was not talking about capabilities. He was talking about beliefs, mindset. That's it. I honestly believe that we can change 0.1% per day. I don't believe in 1% simply because one percentage is actually huge. I believe we can change 0.1% per day, which means it less than three years. You can be a completely different person. That's that it happened. It happened for a lot of people. It can happen for you. That's it. Thanks a lot. Thank you for following this class. If you liked it, please share it. Rated is going to be very important for me and the algorithm of the platform, you know that. So thank you. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my words and rendezvous in another class. I have a lot actually on Skillshare. Thank you. Take care of yourself.
