1. Introduction : Hi, welcome to my course on habit-forming skills. What do you have? Bad habits? Do you want to learn good habits? Well, with no more excuses? Learn the process of forming good habits, and get rid of all the bad habits you have. Learn with me over a decade of experience, having practical knowledge on how to form good skills in getting rid of the bad ones. Once you go through the course, it will make you a better profession, a confident person with positive attitude, and will certainly help you to become a better professional. Discourse is for all the professionals, students and learners who want to improve on it, habit-forming skills. Now you're going to learn the basics of habits. What are good and bad habits? How you're going to form good habits. And I'll share my own experiences of forming the habits which has changed my own life. Steinberg, rowan leaf with a 100 percent success. Let's do this. Let's enroll for this course. 2. The Principles of Habits: What is a habit? I'm sure we all know. What does Hubbard actually mean? Well, for most people, habit is something they do normally, spontaneously, regularly, without even paying much attention, without thinking or bothering about it. It's something that you do on a regular basis which becomes a part of your life, but you don't even realize is a habit now. So you think that you can form a habit and you can break it easily. But is that so easy? Is it easy to form habits and break the bad habits and form the good habits? Not really, So we will deal with it one-by-one. Well, habits are behavioral. They are the responses to an external stimuli or an internal feeling. So if I want to form a habit of leaving to eat junk food, now this has to come from within, right? I need to feel good about myself that if I leave eating junk food, I'll get into a healthy lifestyle. Now, frequent repetitions can make these responses from behavioral baton. So every time I see the junk food on the roadside and I just decide not to eat it. I am forming a habit. I'm changing my behavior. So is it easy to form bad habits? Yes. Is it difficult to form good habits? Yes. Why? Because you need to change the baton off your behavior, which has already been developed over a period of time. For example, if you have, if you have a habit of drinking soft drinks after every meal. Now, this is something which is a habit which must have been formed quite easily. You enjoy soft drinks and after every meal you just have it. It's a habit, but it's a bad one. But now if you want to leave this habit, so it's easy to form bad habits and difficult to form good habits. It's even difficult to break bad habits. So if I tell you suddenly that, no, you need to drink water after every meal and not a soft drink. Probably you might find it difficult because you just enjoy soft drinks after every meal. So the bad habits are easily form and they die hard. It's very, very difficult to form. A good habit. So some of the bad habits which we all have normally is eating junk food. Many people have addictions to certain food, certain drinks. Many people have addiction to stealing, smoking, and not sleeping at night. Now these are some of the examples of some bad habits. Now, as I've already said, bad habits are easy to form and good habits have fairly difficult to form. So we have the process or do we actually know that this is a bad habit? Well, almost all of us know our own bad habits. Because as a human being we can distinguish easily what is good for ourselves and what is bad, right? So bad habits normally do not take great efforts, willpower and motivation either to form and maintain. So eating junk food is very easy. Hubbard, which you can form without any efforts. So you go out QC junk food and you start having it. There is no effort. You just start eating it, Bailey money and after every visit, once you start doing it, it becomes a habit. So mostly we often tried to hide out bad habits from others. We feel embarrassed or guilty of someone knows about it, such as our addiction to having soft drinks after every meal. Our addiction to smoke. Now, we know it's about our button. Once others know about it, it may be embarrassing as well. But can you actually hide a bad habit in the long run? Well, you cannot because it is eventually going to show its result on your health. Your body language reveals it. So if you're not sleeping properly at night and if you're smoking regularly, it is going to show through your health. People are going to know what a queue or a chain smoker, or you do not sleep quite well at night. So as I said, bad habits are very easy to form. Good habits are very difficult to fund. And that's why we, as individuals, need to think about identify the good and the bad habits so that we ourselves know that port we are going to do or what we're doing is a good and a bad habit. So once we are conscious about it, once we know that every day if I have soft drink after the meal, it is going to eventually make me diabetic because soft drink has lot of sugar in it. Similarly, if I eat junk food, I will not get proper nutrients from the food and effect Gary's on for a long time. I might fall sick. So if I smoke, I know that my lungs are getting affected and if I smoked for a long time, maybe over 45 years, I might get cancer. So once you are aware, once you know that this is a good and a bad habit, you can certainly make a conscious effort to change or to make your bad habit a good one. Okay. So bad habits to stop and good habits to a dog. That's something which you need to follow from today itself. 3. The Habit forming Skill: Developing soft skills and personality. And in this, we are going to learn about habits. Now, since we have already discussed habits are easy to form when it comes to a bad habit, where it's difficult to form a good habit. To even realize that most of the habits which you form are because of some influence. Maybe your friends, family, or your relatives. For example, most of the smokers learned smoking from their friends. Being in the a group. Most of the people are addicted to some form of a bad habit, may be gambling. Maybe spending too much of time outside, maybe eating junk food whenever they go out saying this is because of the influence of the peer group, the friends, the gatherings in which the person goes through. And this is where the habit formation takes an important place. So we, as individuals need to identify and understand that habit formation doesn't go in isolation. It is related with something which happens on a regular basis. So once you find out the reason of your bad habit, why actually did you get that bad habit? Who were the people who were responsible for introducing you to those bad habits? Once you realize that, you will understand that a bad habit, it's something which you didn't form on your own. It's because of the peer group influence, the peer group pressure, right? So both good habits and bad habits are formed by peer group influence our environment. So it's not only about bad habits. If you have friends who like to go on a morning walk or go on cycling, say every morning they go out of their homes at around five AM in the morning. And since they're your friends, they have asked you also to come with them. So now you have formed a good habits every morning you're waking up at five AM and going along with your friends for cycling. So this is again a peer pressure, peer group influence. Now much depends upon the individual perception and belief to retain a good habit or change about APIC. Now this means that Let's suppose your friends have gold you at five AM for cycling. But you yourself don't feel to go out early in the morning. You should just complete your sleep and why to bother waking up early at 05:00 AM to go for cycling. So it's your own perception your friends are going out but you feel that you should not go up. Similarly, even if your friends are smokers and they have some way influenced you to smoke. But if you yourself believe that, no, I I will never spoke because eventually it is going to harm my lungs and I am going to get cancer. You wouldn't never smoke. So to perception, It's a willpower. It's, it's how you feel about yourself, that you can neglect the influence as well. So your peer groups, your friends, your family, your relatives do play an important role in forming bad habits and good habits. But eventually, it is your own willpower. It's your own perception, it's your own feeling that will make you or break that vicious cycle of forming a good habit or a bad app. That's very, very important right? Now. Many times we also feel in and get to understand that whenever you form a bad habit, you're getting instant gratification. You're getting instant happiness. Feel of Russia in your blood. That is going to make you do the bad habit again because you felt good. Once you started to smoke for the first time you felt so good. You felt relieved, less stressful. Because the the toxins D then deoxygenation of smoking a cigarette gave you that relief. So you felt good about it. Once you had your first soft drink, you fell so much of Russia in your blood. You felt so much of energy that every time you feel low, you just want to go and have a cold drink without even realizing that you're adding sugar to your body. That's how instant gratification and makes you fall for a bad habit. So many experiments have been conducted and people who can control the feeling of instant gratification. Have done really good in life and they are one of the most successful people in this world. So good habits do not give instant gratification and benefits. But bad habits give you a lot of instant gratification, happiness in feel-good factor. And that's why about habits are so easy to form. Good habits eventually require you to follow a certain pattern over a period of time so that they start showing results. For example, if you start to do exercise every morning for one hour, it is not going to give you instant results. The benefit defect of that exercise on your body is going to show results in a month or two. So good habits do not show instant results. Instant gratification, right? So if I have to identify, if I have to give you certain examples of good habits are bad habits. Sleeping late night as a bad habit of dealing something. Procrastination as a bad habit, showing this interest in your own health and hygiene is really a bad habit. Gossiping, criticizing others, using excessive drugs, drinking, smoking, but watching TV, surfing the Internet, to spending diamonds, social media, eating food, untimely, junk food, stealing things. Now these are some of the bad habits. And eventually we all know what are the bad habits which we have. If I give you two examples of some good habits, but you should definitely think about as to get up early in the morning, doing things on time, maintaining fitness and keeping the surroundings clean. Saying good things about others, developing self-confidence, enjoying things in modulations, and avoiding harmful substances which are going to harm your body. You should use your dying appropriately. You should eat on tiny detail the food. Be honest and trustworthy. These are some of the examples of good and bad habits. Also, a very important lesson where I would want you to get this once you start farming a bad habit in because you have identified that this is going to be a really bad habit for me in the days or the months to come. You stop it. So forming a bad habit is extremely dangerous and harmful and it's better to nip the bad habit and the bot itself. So once you start to form a bad habit, and once you realize that this is a bad habit, that is the time you need to stop it then in there. Because once it goes after a certain time, if you continue doing the bad habit over a period of time, you won't even realize that this is about habit and to become part of your life. So eventually it's very, very important for us that if we find or identify a bad habit early, tried to stop it as early as possible, nip it in the bud. And that is going to really improve your life. I'm going to show a lot of good results in your life. 4. The Habit Cycle: Well, if I say that everything is happen, Would that be correct? Yes, to a great extent it is true. Everything we do in life on a daily basis is a bargain for habit. Habit is something which developed over a period of time. If we keep on doing the same thing again and again every day. So hard work is a habit. So is laziness. Perseverance as a habit, soils giving up, success as a habit. So it's a failure. Excellence is habit. Soyuz mediocrity. To choose to form a good habit is the habit. And to choose to form a bad habit is also a habit. So you need to make the choices carefully. And that is where your own determination, your own willingness, your own choices become so important. So everything that you do go to back the decision to change as yours. Only you can make the difference. Whenever you do something good about you yourself. Know that this is not good and this is good for me. And it is a bone you to make that decision, to make it a part of your life or not. So it's a cycle. It's something which happens every day. So if I have put this in my conscious mind that I need to form good habits and I need to give away bad habits. Your brain will start telling you every time you do a bad habit. So every time I go to market to have hello, junk food, my, my brain will tell me that this is a bad habit and you should not do it. And if I'm firm enough with a lot of commitments and strong willpower, I will not have that fast food because I know that this is not good for my health. While walking down the lame, I just see a sharp or we're just selling soft drinks. And it's quite hard. And I'm tempted to have that soft drink. But my brain tells me that one bottle of soft drink is going to add a lot of sugar to my body, which can eventually resulted in me being diabetic. Now, that was a trigger. I stopped myself because my brain has given that stimulus not to have that soft drink. Now this kind of stimulus can be developed in your brain by feeding your brain every day that you need to form good habits. You need to get out of all the bad habits in slowly and steadily, you would start realizing that your subconscious mind is preventing you to do any bad thing and eventually replace that bad habit with a good one. So if I'm tempted to eat junk food, this find out something which is healthy. Maybe a salad, maybe a burger which is, you know, made up of olive fresh green vegetables. So I'm eating, but I'm eating healthy, not junk food. So whenever I'm tempted to have soft drinks, why don't I replace it with a health drink, which is good for my body, which gives glucose to my body, which provides energy to my body, makes me feel more, much better. That's how I change the cycle of bad habits and do a good one. I'm replacing the bad habits and substituting it with a good one. So once you start getting the stimulus that trigger from your brain, and once you start replacing the bad habits with the good one, you are forming a habit cycle. You are eventually becoming better. You are improving yourself. You cannot change your future, but you can change your habit, and surely your habit will change your future. That said by our former president, Dr. Apj Abdul Kalam. In excellence is something which can be achieved through your own willpower, through your own subconscious efforts, through your own willingness pay. So I want you to walk the path of excellence and make sure that you are getting rid of all the bad habits and replacing them with good habits. 5. Top 10 Habits to Develop: Now let's talk about GAAP and habits that has changed my own life. And I want you to have these habits as a part of your life. And I'm sure it will certainly change the way you look at things all across in your life. Now let's talk about the dominant habits. The first habit is waking up early in the morning. Now this habit of waking up early, Everyone else, no matter what it is, gives you so much time, so much of positivity and free energy that you can utilize it to make yourself the productive best. I wake up at four AM in the morning. So normally people wake up at six or seven fast compared to everyone. I have two to three hours of extra dying every day in my hands. And I utilize this time for my creative skills because this is the time when my mind is idle, free of any clutter. I am not getting into social media. I'm not checking my emails. I do not have people following up on me. Everyone is at sleep and I'm the only person who wakes up and who works on himself. And that's something which you can do as well. To wake up early in the morning, find out certain activities which you want to pursue as hobby. Start doing it. And so when you would realize over a period of time when your efforts start compounding that the results are exponential, you will see a great difference between the areas of improvement which you have chosen for yourself during this time. So waking up early in the morning is one of the best habits, which I have personally for. The second habit is to write down your goals. Goals are the fuels and the furnace of achievement. A life without goal is directionless. So I want you to identify certain goals in life that you want to achieve, which can be achieved. And these goals should be realistic, should be smart. You can measure them. And the most important thing is once you set, set goals for yourself, make sure that goals are ambitious. These goals are not something which you can easily achieve, but something which you really want to achieve and for which you need to work hard. Work hard from the day 1, that is, you need to take action. So writing your goals every day puts these goals in your subconscious mind. So even throughout the day, without even realizing your brain makes you work towards your goals. So you get one step closer to the things which you want in life. And how beautiful is that. Just writing down your goals every day, in the morning and on a piece of paper or while you are typing it out on Word. Just start doing this and let me assure you you will find a great difference. A lot of positivity, lot of energy and direction will come to your life. You will know what you're doing and why you're doing. And what are the resources? What are the things which are required for you to become successful in achieve your goals. So unless and until you know your goals, you will never achieve them. So it's better. You identify you write it down, and make a habit to write down all your goals every day. He could happen is reading. Reading is something which will change your life eventually. Because reading not only makes a person more knowledgeable, but also you get to know certain things were different perspective. Many times we look at one particular issue with one frame of mind. But once you start reading different types of books on different issues, your, your perspective, your thinking, your, your ideology changes. You start to look at things from different angles, from different perspectives. So you have a more balanced view. You have a more balanced perspective. People would love to listen to you. People would love to hear your opinion because you not only present facts, but also respect what others have to say because you know what you're doing. So reading is a habit which will certainly improve your understanding skills. Your, your comprehension at the same time will make you a better communicator. Now, we all want to be a better writer, but we don't know how to go about it. Now, writing is a habit which you should certainly work upon. Write something every day, ten to 15 lanes, a blog, an article on any random topic that comes to your mind. The lighting is all about starting. You need to take the first step. It's not that you want to write an essay or a paragraph, which is to the quality of established writer. Forget it. Just start right something each day in slowly over a period of time. As I said, law of compounding, the most powerful law in this universe will make your efforts of writing each day compound. And eventually you will start writing in very good language. Your comprehension, your, your writing skills, your thought process. A diverse would you choosing your vocabulary, everything will improve considerably. So writing something which I would definitely want you to pursue. Another habit which I want people to actually get. This is speaking. Now. It's not about speaking, put people. But even if you don't have someone to speak where you can start to speak with yourself each and every day. Just for five to ten minutes, to stand up in front of a mirror, take a mobile phone, record yourself, and speak on any random topic. The more you speak, the more confident you become, the more easy you become YOU speak on any topic. The clarity of thoughts come to your way. You will not be afraid of public speaking. And I'm going to habit is to learn new skills. Now this is the most important habit which I want you to develop is to learn something new each day. You know, there are so many good websites. One example is so many upcoming websites where you get courses absolutely free of cost or what a minimal subscription. Now once you start learning new skills, you would not even realize how much potential you have and how much more you can achieve in life, right? So if you are a banker, you can learn different aspects of banking. If you're a writer, you can learn how to do copywriting, how to do book writing, different aspects of writing. So you're not only learning and doing what you do normally, but you're also enhancing your skills every day. And the future is all going to be for the people who are continuously improving themselves in terms of their skills. They had upgrading their skills. So learning new skills as a great and a failing fairly important habit which you need to have physical activity. I don't need to talk about it. Every person needs to have at least one physical activity each day. So that would go out and do something. You use sweat, you take that, you know, that storage of fat within your body out through physical activity. It could be something which you really like playing sports, going out with children, walking with the dog. Anything that involves physical activity should be definitely done each day. Are the good habit is to eat healthy and I, whatever you eat May be mindful of what you're eating. You're eating healthy. You are not taking too much of alcohol suite all fats. Because eventually it is going to get stored in your body and will show bad results in form of diseases in the latest stage of your life. Yes, good sleep is one of the best habits which everyone should have. No matter how much you work, if you feel your body doesn't get proper sleep, it will not function properly. So it's all about maintaining that balance of working as well as relaxing. Because at the end of the day, life is all about having proper balance. So if you work at 12 to 14 hours a day and you don't get proper sleep, you wouldn't be able to get the same performance every day. Productivity will decrease each passing day, so it's better to have good sleep. The most important and the 10th habit, which I want all of you to definitely have is to have peace of mind. And this is such an important aspect of a personality. No matter what you do, you can meditate, you can read books, you can listen to good people. You can follow certain guru, which you can pause you as knowledge as your teacher. But have some time for yourself wherein you find a piece of your mind. When you relax, when you look at things. You can do gardening, you can you can just sit down early in the morning and the park and listen to the birds chirping around. Just visualize the greenery all over yours, you. And that's something how your, your mind will become calm and peaceful. And this is required because your brain is something which has to be working to its full potential and for it to work goods full potential, It's important essential that it gets proper break. So be mindful, be peaceful, and have peace in your life.
