Start to learn critical thinking skills. It's time for you to grow in life with courage and confidence with 100% success. Let's do this. Let's enroll for this course. 2. Introduction to Critical Thinking ?: Critical thinking. Then you must have studied in your college school. You must have learned all important life lessons. But critical thinking is more about applying those skills, those learnings. In practical life. Your ability to think and look into different aspects by utilizing your existing knowledge and skills to solve present and future challenges. For example, I have a start-up and I want to make it a successful startup. But I didn't know how to go about it. I've already faced lot of rejections. I've studied from a business college. I know business I've done in a matter of bamboo, well-qualified, I have raised funding, but my business is not working. What is the reason? Is it that all the skills which have learned from the business school is not working for me? Or do I need to think differently? Well, this is where critical thinking comes into picture. Now what I do, I stuck around delays my business from the last six months. I see what are the shortcomings? What exactly we are not able to pull up. While I look into the details, I get to an amazing and interesting fact that the customers who are taking our product, they're not repeat customers, their new customers. Why are people not taking my products for the second time? Why am I not able to build a community of people who are my existing users who use my product every time. That means they're not happy with my product. What I'll do, I'll try to find out why exactly these people are not buying my product for the second time. Swiped quickly, do a survey, I'll interact with them, I'll make a call. I'll interview them. Why did they not take my product for the second day? Now, I will be shocked to know that the feedback which I received from the people, they say that they were not happy with my customer service. Once they got to the customer service, they did not get proper apply. Even they had many questions about by-product which they could not get answers to on the website. They also gave me certain suggestions such as I could have a good customer service team. I could build an FAQ and put it on the website that you sold most of the problems and the customers would be happy to buy again. Now this is where I have used, utilized my critical thinking skills. Critical thinking is all about thinking out-of-box, understanding the problem, analyzing it, and coming to a solution. It's not a win-win solution for you, but for all the people who are involved in the business or are associated with you in your life. 3. What is Critical Thinking ?: Now if we talk about the literal meaning of critical thinking, it comes from the Greek word crit GAS, which means discerning anything which is of concern, anything which is important. Your ability to think clearly rationally understanding the logical connection between ideas will make you a better thinker. Giving the last example wherein I wanted to make my startup a successful business. But I tried everything but it failed. But once I took the feedback of the customers understanding that very few people are buying my product for the second time. I was able to think clearly. I was able to connect why people are not buying my product for the second day. I could understand the reasoning. I couldn't connect with the ideas of making my product better so that more customers buy my product for the second time. So to understand and assess his tuition based on all the facts and information available makes you a critical thinker. You can sort organize information, data, and facts to define in solving a problem. That is where data analytics, business intelligence comes into picture. These days you must have heard about data analytics. Now what do data analysts do? Now these data analyst will study the data patterns, the behavior. They will churn out the data of the past and your customer experiences. And they'll come out with certain observations or findings which will show how you can make your business more impactful, much better. These observations are completely based on data. The way people use your product, use the information, right? So every information, every data which you associate with your business or some other business in your field is very important in critical, this will help you to study the pattern of customer behaviour. How many people are getting interacted, how to increase your business or product? So basically it's an analysis of an issue or a situation, gather the facts, data, evidence-based on it, and how you can come up with conclusive or observations in areas where you can improve upon your product, your ability to collect and analyze information to come to a conclusion, farms are part of critical thinking. Just imagine I'm a Data Analyst. I have gathered the data and I've given you the data, but no major points. Now, as a critical thinker, it is your responsibility, your job to figure it out. What could be my business strategy, my business plan from these observations which the data analyst has given, data analysts will do his job. But it is your observation, your critical thinking, who will make the most out of that given data? You have to figure out what is the best you can do for your business to function properly. Using rationality to determine what do you do or believe in a specific situation. Now many times, employees who engage in critical thinking now reflective, independent, and competent. You can become the same by using critical thinking skills. By applying your mind, by thinking out of the box, by involving your creative mindset. 4. What is relevance of Crtical Thinking Skills ?: Now what are the skills we need for critical thinking? Went? First, we need to have the ability to think about a topic they shows or the objective in a critical way. Just imagine we have a problem and we are not able to identify the problem itself. Will I be able to come with a solution? No. Why? Because I have not done the first thing correctly. I have not identified or find the problem itself. So how can I come to a conclusion or the solution? Identify different arguments they are in relation to a particular issue. Well, whenever there is a problem, they would be different arguments in favor or not in favor. They would be certainly advantages and disadvantages. They will be pros and cons, cons. And this is what you as a critical thinker need to analyze, need to look into the broader aspect. You will look in the positives and the negatives as well, so that you want to take the decision, have everything in your mind. You need to have a point of view wherein you are able to evaluate how strong or how weak an argument is based on facts and figures. You recognize the weakness or negative points. Along with logical understanding based on evidence and facts, you notice what implications your decisions might have in the future. Also, you provide structured reasoning and support your argument for any decision which you're going to make. Let's suppose the problem is that the, the youngsters who joined my company, they're leaving the organization or within two or three months. So that's a problem. Now I'm going to analyze why exactly they're leaving. Well, be woke culture has boarding. Maybe the kind of Wyman they want, they're not getting, they're not getting good salary or maybe incentives. Or the management is not conducive to their age group or there is a generation gap. These are some of the aspects why the youngsters who joined my company are leaving the organization. What do I do? Well, I tried to change your work environment. I bring certain positivity in energy into the workspace. How? By bringing more colors, by changing the structure of the office, by making it more open. I'll encourage people to stand, interact, and worked innovative, conducive man and a very healthy environment that they are enjoying themselves. They are having fun, that appreciating, acknowledging each other. I may also allow people to rear casual dresses on weekends so that the younger generation feels happy. I might also bring the clause off incentives based on performance. So that might encourage youngsters who want to learn more money. So these are the ways in which I can possibly reduce the attrition rate. And sooner or later after maybe three or four months, you can start to see the difference. There are less people, the younger people who are leaving the company now. Why? Because they are finding it more attractive. And this would only happen once I used my ability of critical thinking. 5. What is importance of Critical Thinking skills ?: Now what is the importance of critical thinking? Now, once you think critically, you will constantly challenge what is there in your way. For example, I have accompany my company is doing good sales. But I would question, why can't my company achieved better sales? If today the sale percentage is 100? Why can't I take it to 150? What stops me? What do I need to work upon so that I get to 150 per cent level? Now this is where I challenge myself. I constantly think of improving my performance. This is critical thinking. I have something appears to be functioning properly. Many a times you will find better solutions, new ways to make things in a better manner. For example, I have a manufacturing company. In one hour. I'm able to manufacturer and do packaging of a 100 milk packets. Now, I think in my mind, if in one hour I can only manufactured 100 packets, can I become a big company? Went for that, I need to increase my production level. How can I improvement production? How can I improve my the rate of they don't manufacturing milk packets every hour. I need a new machine. Do I need a new technology? Do I need to do better research and bringing more advanced technology for packaging? The answers and these questions will itself bring you to a better solution and you'll be able to improve your production level in the manufacturing in the days to occur. This is how critical thinking works. Thinking critically is wider for anyone who's working in an organization or even in life. Even in life, you take many decisions once you think critically. For example, you want to save money in half big investment where you wanted to create wealth. You need to think critically about what, how can you do it? Now there are some ways in which critical thinking is important in the workplace. Most of the profession requires you to think critically, but many of the professions just require you to come sit, work and go out go back home? Yes, that is just typing in doing new stuff. You don't use your brain. Now that kind of job is something which people don't Lake, but many people leg as well. That depends upon the personality of the posted. Your decision-making improves a fewer critical thinker because you want analyzing everything that is coming new away. Not only one thing that you are listening and taking a decision, but you're looking at different aspects and then based on the conclusion in evidence, you are taking a decision. So your decision-making is getting better. Critical thinkers and happier because as I said, they will look into every aspect. There is something, you know, being happy and satisfied with everything that we have looked upon and then you decide which one to take or leave. In that case, you will always be happy because there'll be, there'll be no regret of leaving something behind. Their critical thing is well-informed. You will automatically become well-informed if you start thinking about all the aspects of a problem or a situation that encourages self-reflection? Yes, if I'm thinking critically, I will have to reflect upon my own ideas and come to a conclusion. It bolsters the knowledge economy. Just imagine if everyone, every politician, businessperson starts to think critically how better accompany or an award would become. People would be getting better results in implementation of policies. Teamwork does improve being a critical thinker, you're not only think about yourself, but as a team. You want to grow your organization. You resolve conflict because you'll find conflicts to be embedded means not a constructive way to get to a solution. You become a leader because you are not only solving problems, but you are also engaging and influencing people to be critical thinkers by saving time and efforts. Normally employers would love to hire a person who thinks critically because they weren't candidates who can, who can evaluate the situation and take decisions I don't want to post. And who comes to me Ivrea half an hour. It asks me what to do. So next, no. I would a person who is self accomplished, he can't take his decisions on his own, and he rarely comes to me asking for help. Well, it's my responsibility as a leader, as a manager to tell him what to do, how to do. But it's not bad outcomes for every second thing. I don't want such kind of posts and I wonder post them to apply his mind, use the available resources and do the work. This is what, this is why the employers value critical thinkers. So if you wanted to become a critical thinker, yes, there are certain skills, there are certain ways you need to evaluate your information. Consider where the information has come from. Us. Lot of questions probing will give you a lot of answers to already existing questions. Do lots of research form an opinion based on data and feedback, find out the reason why the problem has occurred. Be critical about the data. You question everything that comes your way in terms of facts and figures. You confirm the significance and relevance and then you form your own conclusion. If you want to have better critical thinking skills, you need to broaden your technical and industry specific skills. You need to improve on your knowledge and skills. You need to become better at what you're doing by giving dying, and developing and learning new skills you need to volunteer to solve problems in your current job. Come up with ideas, solution problems, or solutions to problems already there in your organization. Discuss it with your seniors. They would love it. Look for advice from the experts in your desired area of field. You can play also a lot of games which will improve your critical thinking skills and your ability to think in a better manner. 6. What a Crtical Thinker can do ?: Now what are the things which a person who's good and critical thinking can achieve or do. Well. A person who is a critical thinker will understand the link between the ideas. He really understand why the businesses not functioning. Why am I not getting good customers? Why is my sales not increasing? Why are my people leaving the company? So he will connect, you will find the links. What exactly is the problem? His customer service? The problem is the amount of package which I'm offering to the employees less. That is why people are leaving my organization. This personally understand the links between the ideas. He would've determine the importance and relevance of arguments and ideas. Many times if a junior gangster me and can raise his ideas are R has an argument, I just take it on my ego and just shouted at him and tell him to get out of the room. Why? Because I'm not ready to listen. However, if, if I'm a critical thinker, I would encourage arguments. I would encourage people to give feedback. In fact, I would have brainstorming sessions with people so that we can improve on our product together. Take feedback of others to make my product better. That is critical thinking. I would recognize Berlin, please, arguments, I will inspire and encourage people to come forward and put their views and points across. If they're shy and speaking, they can write an email and send it to me. And it's not that Lucan only give you a name. While you have to give a suggestion. You can write in anonymous suggestion as well. You can drop a chit order later. Now identify inconsistencies and errors in reasoning. Now critical thinking person will always find logical reasoning behind everything that happens in business or in life. So he'll be first to catch if the reasoning is not correct, late. This is what a critical thinker will do. You will approach problems in a consistent, in a systematic way following a process? Where did he will find and identify a solution problem? Bent. Find out what are the different ways in which that problem can be solved. He will take feedback and solid and then come to a conclusion that is the decision-making critical thinking person. We'll questions everything he will include everything that comes to his mind. For example, I'm the boss and an employee comes to me with the report and says that the performance has improved. Now I'm going to ask, what does that factor which has made you come to the conclusion that the performance of the company has improved. I will question him on the facts and figures so that he will not be there to just make me feel good. Rather, he would have backing off the facts and figures. If things are not going right, he should be the first person to tell me that this is not working and we can find a way out by working this way. These are some of the qualities of critical thinkers. 7. What are the Top Critical Thinking Skills ?: Now as we have already discussed, some of the important critical thinking skills, let's list them all together. The first and the most important ability or for you to be a critical thinker is your ability to collect and process information and knowledge. Where I gave you the example of data analysts. This is what he does. He collects information, the data based on the feedback, the numbers, the social websites, the amount of sales that has happened from Excel sheet, from the inventory list, C will gather all this data. Now once he gathers all this data, who tried to come up with certain observations that during the last three months the sales of this product has increased. The sales off Ben's have decreased. But simultaneously the sales off notepads have improved. For example, your companies are stationery company. This is the analysis which you have done based on the past three months of inventory sales. I know the data. Now the next aspect is interpretation. So what can you get from this data? Now, since I've analyzed the last three months of data, I can see that people are not buying pen because there is a new brand which has come. It is quite popular in the younger generation now this span is using both the ink technology and the dot pen technology. So you get both these two technologies in one pen. How beautiful concept is that? That is why the sales are not increasing. So I have met, I have concluded I have made an interpretation that because of this reason, the sales of Ben's have decreased. However, the sales of notepads have increased. Why? Because my notepad has good quality of paper bag and also there are quotes written on every page at the bottom of the page. This encourages and motivates students to write more. How good is that? That is my interpretation. What inference? Inference is the conclusive idea which comes out from my analysis and interpretation. Now this can be based on scientific data in also your own ability to analyze and interpret things. Now inferences this, that because a new brand has come up with an innovative technology, people are using more paint and not from my black, but from the other brand. This is the inference. The second inferences that my notepads are doing good because my quality of the notepad, along with certain customization is working for the students. Now I start to evaluate my ability to take decisions based on the available information. Now I'll instruct my research and development team to work on this technology and come up with something which is more innovative and better than the existing technology. I won't, I don't want to copy the similar technology. I want to have a new product altogether, which is better than the already existing product, which is selling goods in the market. So if I have to explain the things, I will communicate it to my team as well in a better manner. Look, critical thinkers are good, not only in terms of solving problems, but also communication. No matter how good a thinker you are, if you're not able to communicate yourself in a better manner, you will not be able to put your point across with proper reasoning and logic. So this has to be the priority. Now you're able to communicate your idea across to the team. Next, It's self-regulation. Now, many a times, after we take a decision, we do not monitor or see what is the progress. So I will have a constant monitoring over the research and development team on the kind of work they are doing in finding out a new technology. Also, I'll take different perspectives and have an open mind towards more innovation and creativity by bringing better products. Is there anything else I can do apart from bringing a pendant on Notepad or maybe a completely new genre altogether. 8. What are the Attributes of Critical Thinking skills ?: Let's discuss the attributes of critical thinking quickly. The first is analysis. You need to have portfolio questions, have your own judgment used data to analyze. If there is an evidence based on certain reasoning, you need to question it. You can have your own research, recognize pattern, and have your own interpretation. Also, everything that comes to your way may not be absolutely correct. That's something which you have to take with a pinch of salt. Communication is actively listening to people collaborating with other brands. Assessment of your own performance, giving proper explanation to the people who aren't associated with your company. Have good interpersonal presentation and teamwork skills. And your ability to verbally communicate, both in form of words and in form of writing will help you to bring more collaboration and effective communication among people. Now, creativity is the key. While working in any form of business problem-solving skills. This is the process which we are going to talk about. For this, we need to get into the details. No matter what the problem is. Most of the times we just look at the broader aspect of the problem. But once we get into the details, the solutions are always there in the details. There is a problem. I would always request you to get into details. What exactly is the problem? Why is it coming? Who has it come in the past? What will happen if this problem exceeds? What are the clarifications based on that, you can make decisions, evaluate. You can identify the patterns and finding innovative ways to clear and to solve most problems. There are more critical thinking skills. You can just go through this slide wherein reasoning, compliance, optimization, brainstorming emotional intelligence, your ability to understand your own emotions along with the others and behave accordingly. Integration with people's strategic planning, project management, case analysis, and ongoing improvement. Your mindset and skills, your ability to formulate judgments with evidence and reasoning. Use evidence and reasoning to formally decisions. Open-minded, willing to have others and your own beliefs challenged by other people. You are reflective and aware of your own thought process and you are also open for feedback and critical acclamation as well. You have a perspective where a new connect ideas. You're skeptical of information no matter what information comes your way, whether it's good or bad, your question it. You are fairly evaluation of evidence in views with objective mindset and your inquisitiveness and curious way of thinking will help you to get to the Beta position the next day. 9. Summary of Critical Thinking Skills !: Critical thinking, as the word says, means critical thinking clearly and rationally. Aspect. And into consideration all the facts and information available. For a particular cause. You need to focus on data and facts, which will help you to define in soggy problem. The facts, data or evidence related to a particular issue or problem. It will help you to think critically and get to a proper solution. What are different critical thinking skills? Well, if I can identify any inconsistency and editor and reasoning, reasoning related to an argument. That reasoning related to something which is being presented to me. If I'm not able to connect, if I'm not able to find the exact logical reasoning, that is a form of critical thinking. You aren't trying to associate and link things together. And when it doesn't happen, that means you are using your critical thinking skills and you're trying to find out the reason why it is not happening. Your ability to recognize building appraise an argument based on several characters, such as the base of the argument, the validity of the argument. What are the different aspects of the arguments which has been booked, and how that argument is coming to a conclusion. You need to find out structural reasoning and support for an argument. What are the top critical thinking skills? Evaluation, anything that comes your way, you need to evaluate the pros and cons. You need to find influence from an argument, from a conclusion, from a statement. If someone has said something to you, for example, there was a fire and you are the senior fire officer. So the people are explaining to you what were the reasons the fight are good. You as a fire officers, should be able to infer from the statements of people what could be the possible reason of catching the fire? Your interpretation of the subject, urinalysis, white, white, the fire could have gotten. Is the true what people are saying? Or does it because of some technical error. Being a fire officer, having dealt with different kinds of situations, you need to apply your mind. You need to evolve and implement on applier critical thinking skills.
