1. Introduction : Journaling is fun, but sometimes you just don't
know where to start. You flip through the pages. You have all the supplies, but your brain says not today. In today's class, I'll
show you how I turn that creative block
into inspiration using ChatGPT to help
me brainstorm and design a beautiful coffee
theme art journal spread. Hi, I'm Sana Asad, founder of Wildbout Art
Studio based in Bahrain, mixed-media artist and holistic
art therapy practitioner. We'll start with simple
magazine cutouts, layer them into a cozy collage, and see how AI can give you
a spark when you feel stuck. In this class, you
will learn how to use ChatGPT as your creative
brainstorming partner, how to arrange and layer your
collage with intuition and how to turn an AI idea into
something unique, your own. This is your space to unwind, play, and let your
creative flow guide you. This process is not only fun, it's actually therapeutic
for your brain. Grab your coffee, your
scissors, and let's begin.
2. Material (3): For this class, all you need
is any old magazine paper, your art journal, black pen, markers, washi tape, stickers, stamps, stencils, whatever you have,
you can just grab it. I do have some extra collage
papers for scrap booking. You can also use tape, glue stick, liquid
glue or mod podge. I don't have mot Poch today, so I'm going to use
the liquid PVC glue, the regular school supply glue. Coffee, this is completely
optional if you wish to give a first
layer of coffee, otherwise, you can
use watercolor paint. Grab all your material and
let's begin the class.
3. Class project: For your class project, you will create a mixed media
art journal page inspired by your favorite drink or daily ritual.
I choose coffee. The goal is to experience how combining hands on collage and AI inspiration can
unlock creativity and help you overcome
blank Bate syndrome. Pick your theme, choose
something that sparks joy, coffee, tea, book, or
anything cozy and familiar. Collect and cut. Go through old magazines
or printed images, cut out anything that matches your theme, colors, texture, cups, cozy corners,
Anything resonates. Arrange and photograph. Arrange your cutout onto a temporary collage
on your journal page, snap a clear photo
of your layout. Ask Chat GPD for ideas. Upload your image into
Chat GPD and ask it to generate a journal spread or collage layout
based on your theme. This can be also done not on hat GBT but any other AI tool. The prompt you can give, create a cozy coffee theme. Instead of coffee, you
can use your theme. Art journal spread using
these magazine cutouts, add ideas for
composition and layers. Once you have your
layout, rearrange. Recreate in your own style. Using a AI generated
design as inspiration, assemble your final page
in your art journal. Add doodles, paint, washy
tape or coffee stains. Share your work. Don't
forget to upload your finished spread to the project gallery
in your description. Include your theme, a short note on how AI
help you spark ideas. What part of the process felt more relaxing
and inspiring. For the bonus, you can try
creating a second page using a new theme or emotion
like calming morning, cozy evening or energy boost. Compare how the AI
interpretation changes and reflect on how your own
style always shine through.
4. Art Journaling 1 : Let's begin with something
simple, cutting and pasting. I know it sounds like
something we did in school. But this act of cutting, choosing and arranging
is deeply therapeutic. Before I'll begin
with any other thing, I have started collecting all my scrapbook paper, magazine. My theme is coffee
and I want to give a coffee all over my
journal like coffee spread. I'm just taking all the pictures from the magazine
where I see coffee, coffee mug, coffee machine, everything all about coffee. The Turkish coffee, which I
don't like because it's super strong and I still don't
have that resistance. Americano is my favorite, but I can't handle
the Turkish coffee. I'm trying to collect
some letters also, but let's see how it goes. The benefits for doing
this exercise is the repetitive motion of cutting relaxes your
nervous system. It's like a form of
visual meditation. When you tear or trim papers, your hand and I are
working together, grounding you in
the present moment. It stimulates your creative
side of the brain, helping ideas flow naturally. And because it's low pressure, there is no wrong way
to cut and paste. Your perfectionism
slowly melt away. Take your time, fold the papers, flip the pages, try to
find your inspiration. If coffee is not your inspiration
for today's journaling, you can choose any other theme. It might be food items, it might be desserts, it might be fashion, it might be jewelry, anything you want, you
can plan your theme and then let everything
go in a flow. Take your time, don't
overthink placements. Just play, move things around, let the image talk
to each other. You'll notice your brain quiets down and your page is
start to tell a story, your coffee ritual,
your calm moments.
5. Part 2 journal: Hey everyone. Welcome back. Once again, I had
all the cutouts and I felt unsure
how to arrange them. That's where AI comes in. I took a photo of my collage
and uploaded it to ChatGPT, asking it to generate a cozy
coffee themed art journal spread with laid paper
texture and warm tones. In seconds, I got
a digital version. I don't use it to copy. I use it to creative
springboard. As an artist, creative person, this will make your life little easy spending so much
time in research, getting inspiration,
finding your right mood. This way, you can
just add the prom to ChagBT and he can be
your creative assistant. AI gave me a vision, the color tones, balance,
and composition idea. From there, my own
creativity took over. Think of AI as a non
judgmental art body, one who help you see possibility when your
mind feels blank. It's not replacing
your creativity. It's helping you to get unstuck. Now, the image AI
generate for me, he did not tell me to do the coffee or he did
not show me the steps. I just get the idea and I begin my own creativity by
adding coffee in it. I thought, why not
coffee as a first layer. Now it's time for me to
grab my scrapbook papers, adding layers and layers. To create something
unique from my own heart. In this video, we will only
arrange all our cutouts, give them little
layer of background, adding borders, cutting them in right size or adding color. With pencil or pen, I am using different papers
to give border around, not all over my cutouts, but in some areas just to add
extra depth to my work and also light color
background borders will enhance the image. Because everything is all in
coffee and beige and browns, here I am using different glue throughout
the journaling spread. But for sticking, I will use
liquid glue and stick glue. This is completely up to you, depending on the size of
the thickness of the paper, you can choose your
own glue or mot podch. Let's arrange your
cutouts, add them layers, and then in the next video, we will spread them and start creating
our journal spread.
6. Part 3 : Now that we have
some inspiration, I'll start assembling
my final page. I have some stickers. Now it's time to collect few extra elements
for my journal. Stickers optional, or
you can just print out some pictures or cut
out from your magazine. I am using some
stickers washi tape, and I'm also using my
AI layout as a guide. I love that the AI version
helped me visualize, but once I started gluing
and adding layers, my intuition took over. It's not at all the
layout from AI. I start giving my
own idea where I need to stick and
what paper I should choose and what cutout will
go right side or left side. That's the beauty of combining technology and art journaling. AI helps you start, but your soul
finishes the story. Now this step will be
completely intuitional and depending on what
material you have, your spread will turn
out the way you want it. I'm adding some newspapers
like book pages, and then I'm going to add few of my cutouts
from the magazine, then washy tape and stickers
and creating little by little a coffee stain marks is giving a very therapeutic
and very calming effect. It's like the smell of
coffee still in the room, and I'm loving it. So let's see how this process will take me and what will
be the final look. Now, little by little,
it start speaking. I start telling me a story. I'm adding stickers of puppies because the color of the puppies are
similar to my coffee. I thought, let me add all my puppies in
the journal spread, and then the figures, few girls standing
around stenciling. This is all optional. Again, depending on
what material you have. That's the most important thing. Use the materials you already have to create your
journal instead of buying and then
going to start. I don't want you to
wait until you get the same materials or you order, try to start from whatever
you already have at home. Once I have this
complete layout, I will begin some writing. I just had this white
watercolor paper using black pen and the
writing idea is coming from the layout
AI generate for me. But first, coffee, sip,
breathe, and create. But I'm giving this
a little different. I just want to make
it letter by letter. Again, my own ideas are coming, my own personality
reflects in my journal. Remember, your art journal
doesn't need to be perfect. It's a reflection of your mode. Your story, your
moments of stillness. Tana, so here we are done, and I am so happy and
I'm so thrilled to share this mini
course with you that how the brainstorming
through ChatGPT started and the layout of my own
creativity took place.
7. Thank you (1): Here we are done with our
journal spread inspired by AI, our creative body, you can
easily see the difference between AI generated and the
one I created intuitively. The reference is
generated by AI, but it's not something you
feel that you are coping. Thank you so much for
taking out some time and I hope you will make
this as soon as you can. Can't wait to see your project. Till next time, take care of
yourself and keep creating.
