1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need: Okay. Hi, friends. How are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project that I designed, especially for kids. Students do not need to have any drawing or painting experience at all to be successful with this project. I will guide students step by step through all the steps that they need to take. Today, we are going to create this Fox who is holding a heart balloon. I hope that you have a lot of fun with this project. Let's get started. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a sheet of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. You will also need a cup or a bowl with clean water and a oil pastel or crayon and a paper towel. Go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials, and I'll see you back here in the next video. 2. Step 1: Draw a Fox Design: In this step, we are going to draw our Fox design, so let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to pick up our black oil pastel or Creon. Go pretty close to the top of your piece of paper to the left, and what we're going to do is we are going to make a curve line like this. Make sure that your curve line is large enough so that the head of our fox is going to be pretty large. Now let's put a little bit of a dot down here, so that's in the middle coming down. That will help us to guide our lines that we're about to make. We're going to go from the end of this line to our dot with a curve line, and then the same thing over here on this side, curve line, going from this line end to this dot. There we go. This is the shape of our fox's head and face. Now let's add some ears, some triangle ears. Then if you'd like to add a little bit of detail inside those ears, go ahead and do that. I'm just going to make some curve lines inside there. Now, let's go ahead and move down to the bottom of our face and add some features. I'm going to add a triangle. Then if you'd like to add a smile down here, you can do that. I'm just going to make a straight line from the nose to the bottom of that line. Now I'm going to make a little bit of detail inside of this face. I'm going to go from this spot right here, the edge of the ear to the nose with a curve line. And then the same thing on the other side. Right here, curve around to the nose. Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to create some yes. You can create any type of an eye that you'd like. I'm going to make a closed eye. A U shape like this. If you would like to add eyelashes, you can go ahead and do that. I'm just going to add some very short eyelashes. Then I also like to put some circles right here for some little cheeks. There is our fox's head and face. Now what we're going to do is we're going to come down lower onto a piece of paper and we're going to create the tail before we create the body. Because the body is going to be behind the tail. It's going to be a big fluffy tail. Let's start about right here. What we're going to do is we're going to make a really nice big fluffy tail. Watch the line that I make. I come down. I come back up. I come around. And then I come back up to that starting point. That's going to be my Fox's tail. All right. Now what I'm going to do is I am going to go from this line right here to the tail, straight line. And then I'm going to do the same thing over here on this side. This right here is my Fox's body. Let's add a little bit of detail to the body into the tail. We're going to add a zigzag line. And then we're going to add a zigzag line to the tail. Here we go. Now, remember, the rest of the body for a fox is behind this tail right here, so we're not able to see the rest of the body. All right. The next thing that we're going to do is we are going to add a background. Let's add some grass. So just a little line there. Then what we're going to do is we are going to make a little heart right here and it's going to turn into a balloon for our fox. I'm going to make my heart here. If you'd like to make your heart a little bit higher or lower, it's up to you. I'm just going to make one right here. At the bottom of this heart, I'm going to make a small triangle. This is the bottom of my heart balloon. Now I'm going to tie this to my fox's tail. What I'm going to do is I'm just going to have a little string right here and it's going to touch my fox's tail. Then I'm going to create a little loop here like that. It looks like a string is attached to the balloon and tied to the end of the fox's tail. Let's add some details to the background. You can add whatever you'd like. You can add some flowers or some little bugs or grass down here at the bottom. I think I'm going to add some flowers. When it gets closer to spring, I like to add flowers. This is my favorite type of flower to draw. You'll see this type of flower a lot in my art projects because I like it so much. It's just a circle and then some curve lines for the petals. They're a little daisies. Okay. All right. If you have space around your design, you can go ahead and fill that up with anything that you'd like. You can make maybe some clouds going to make some clouds here because I have a little bit of extra space to fill up. Maybe I'll make another one here. This is my favorite type of cloud to make. Now I'm going to take a moment to look at my artwork and see if there's anything else that I'd like to add. I think that I'm finished, so I'm going to stop there. If there's anything else that you'd like to add to your design, go ahead and draw it now. In the next step, we are going to start painting our design. 3. Step 2: Paint the Design: In this step, we are going to paint our design. Let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we are going to add one or two drops of water into each of our pans of paint. What this will do is it will soften up the paint just a little bit, so it will be easier for us to use. Okay. Now that our paints are softening up, let's turn our attention to our fox design. We're going to focus on just painting the fox and the heart, but not the background in this step. We're going to mix two colors together to create a brick red paint color. We're going to mix the colors red and brown together, and we're going to paint this part of the fox, this part of the fox, the tail, and the ears, a brick red color. Let's go ahead and do that. Let's go ahead and make that paint color. I'm going to put some of my water into one of my wells, and I'm going to add some paint to that water, mix it up really well. Then I'm going to add a little bit of brown to that as well to make it a foxy color. There we go. We're going to paint this part of our fox this brick red color. There we go. Now for the inside of the ears, I'm going to add a tiny bit of black paint to my brick red color, and it's going to make it a bit of a color, a darker shade because on the inside of the ears of my fox, it's going to be a bit. Now I'm going to make sure that I paint the nose of my fox, black, but it's really going to be gray because I'm adding quite a bit of water there. I'm going to paint the cheeks pink, a light pink. Then I am going to paint the heart. There we go. Our fox and our balloon have been painted. What we're going to do in the next step is we are going to start painting the background. Okay. 4. Step 3: Paint the Background: In this step, we are going to paint the background. Let's get started. You can paint the background any colors that you'd like. I'm going to paint my sky blue, and I'm going to paint these flowers, probably pink and orange. Those are my favorite colors to paint these types of daisies. Then down here on the grass, I'm going to paint that green. But like I just said, you get to use the colors that you would like to use. I'm going to go ahead and start painting. I'm going to speed up this video a little bit so you can watch me, and then you can get started on your own artwork. All right, friends, I'm finished painting my Fox Design. I think it looks great. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time.
