1. Intro: Hello and welcome to this class. My name is Jaime, and in today's class, we are going to be painting for beautiful cotton candies. We are going to be choosing the colors. We are going to be learning how to use our brush tool. Make the fluffy texture that the cotton candy. I hope you have even sometimes in your life, cotton candy. So do know how the texture and how they look like. Nowadays, there are many inspirations to make a difference. Cotton candy, I will love to, to join me for this class. And I can't wait to tell you how I got the inspiration for this beautiful glass. You can follow me here on skill share and do won't miss any class. I will see you in the next video. 2. Inspiration: She Asked Me for This: This is how I got the inspiration for this class. If it is a very special one and that made me so happy. This is, this comes from my last class about the toxicants and the person bright. Such a fun and lovely glass suggestion from Aikido. I have a suggestion for you. Can you please make a class on how to make a watercolor cutoff candy or just a simple plate of coffees. And here is the clef, especially for you. I hope you enjoy it and do like it. Let me know in the comments and thank you so much for the beautiful suggestion. I will see you in the next video. 3. The Supplies: Let's take a look at the supplies that we are going to be using during the class. Do need a clean towel, watercolor paper, a round brush, or whatever you have at hand, your watercolors shades that you choose for your painting. We are going to be doing the quadrat chat together, a button, let's play with clean water and water. We also need a washy tapes and other corners, I would say to you in the next video. 4. Color Chart: Choosing The Palette: Alright, I have a little bottle with water to activate my watercolors. And the chase that I chose for this class are the most beautiful ones. And they are suggested by the lovely view of my bass clef. Pink, blue, violet, and purple. I would be working with this color, does that suggested for this class? And I am really loving it. I will be doing my color chart to see how the colors react and how clear or how deep or how light I want the colors to be in. Do know that the cotton candy are very, very light in color. But nowadays, people are really creating beautiful designs with the cotton candy. And the colors are really, really bright, vibrant, and beautiful. But here we are going to be pursuing the most light shade of the colors. As you can see I have here lead in my first color, which will add the pink, the purple, and violet. The last one that I am doing. They are more in the pastel side of the Shays. And lastly, I will be then doing the dryer with the blue keys. So the color becomes really light when I apply it with water. This beautiful pastel colors are really beautiful for our cotton candy that we are going to be painting as our student suggested for this class. Thank you so much again for your suggestion. And I will see you in the next video. 5. Pink Cotton Candy: I have all my materials, my paper is fixed. On my surprise. I have my towel, my brushes, my battle, a spray bottle, and my watercolors and my water. I will be using that technique, wet on wet. And I will start with the pink cotton candy. And then I will continue with the other colors, the blue and then the last will be the purple and violet. I will replace it to cotton candies here in this first part of the class. And that will be the pink and the less placed or first cotton candy. Using the round motions or circular motions. With my brush wet. I will, just, Today's, the shape of a cotton candy is more like around, but using circular motion. And my brush is just a little bit of color so you can see what I'm doing on the paper. Now I will pick up more pigment format from my color dish. And I will start adding in the same motion with my infuse color. But ash. Maintain your brush, wet, solid color added to the paper where we are going to be working on layers. So keep in mind that if the corner doesn't look as you want, now, it will. When you add more and more layers. I then adding that shades of these pink. Because you know that the cotton candy has some sugar hairs. And that's the trick with our spray water bottle. We are going to be spraying the color from the middle to the outside of our cotton candy. And as you can see, here are the little hairs from sugar that are the emblematic shape and silhouette of our cotton candy. I hope you had eaten a cotton candy into your life. So I do know how they look like. This colored sugar, but it's so fun to it and is cute. Now we are going to be keeping, adding layers and layers of color until we have the desirable shape that we want. Moving or rash in a circular motion. So the watercolor goes on the places we want it to go. Working with watercolor in layers is very simple and so much fun to do. And you see then when the layers becomes dry, the color we show the real shade that it is. It doesn't look always surprised when it dries. Keep adding some tortious with your brush wet. And then let this dry. Now we're going to proceed to paint the next cotton candy. 6. Blue Cotton Candy: Now let's paint our blue cotton candy. And I then using the same technique, wet on wet. I then taking a little bit of my color on my brush so you can see what I'm doing on the paper. I then just using the circular motion that we learned in the first part, where I'm painting the pink cotton candy. And here we are adding color to our silhouette of cotton candy. But this time we are using the color blue. We are going to be doing like little clouds in this circular motion to get the real texture on our cotton candy. The sugar, when the people work with this to make the cotton candy, really looks like a cloud if you see that really close. So we're doing the same, adding some pigments. And then going with our brush in circular motion and adding some more darker torches with our brush. And always working on the shape of the cotton candy. When we feel that the color is well distribute, then we are going to proceed to use a spray bottle. The same way for the middle to the outside lines of arched shape. So the little lines looks like the sugar hairs. And we can pick up some saturated color from the water that went on the paper. And then proceed to add more tortious on the edges around or cotton candy. As you can see, the painting is very wet. And thus is that the technique here, wet on wet allows the painting to become beautiful. When it dries those spaces. What the color is darker. You can use your towel to pick up some excess of water and make the effect of clouds. Lifting your color with your brush and going around. The cotton candy to make it look really even and doesn't have hard lines of colors. So the color really get accepted by the paper. Keep doing this until you feel or see that your painting is done. Then let it dry. Now I will let this dry and I will see you in the next video. 7. Pink and Blue Cotton Candy Details: Okay, Now we're going to be adding the last, the last layer on our cotton candies. And then getting in the background a little bit alive, adding some details over that as well. So I think adding some spots on my pink cotton candy. So it looks more vibrant and delicious to it. And now I will just paint some dots as a product background to make the can be gotten pop up on the paper. I will do the same with the blue cotton candy. So the background becomes part of the painting. I also will add the layer on my blue cotton candy. As you can see. Then instead of painting the dots on the background, there are some little dots to make them more contrast with the paper. Those leaders dots just make the painting more cohesive and more beautiful. Good Watch. Then I will add a little bit more of color because I am seeing that the blue is not too bright as I wanted. And when it dries, it will become very, very light. So I will add some brushes out and then moving them to soften those hard lines. Then I will let this to proceed. Painting the thick that holds the cotton candy, they are completely dry now. So I will proceed to paint the stick. I didn't use a brown color here. So to paint the sticks, then, we are going to be adding the details to our codon candies, pink and blue. Now that my sticks out right, I will be adding some ribbons, just interchanging the colors using the blue ribbon for the pink cotton candy. So it made a beautiful contrast. This is tiny ravens. Now, the big ones. Just to add a little kid. And then for the blue cotton candy, I will reduce the pink colored to make the tinier reborn. And the turning out so cute. Then I will let this dry to proceed with it, the last details, which are some splashes. And I will use the pink color for the pink cotton candy and then the blue color for the blue cotton candy. This just give more texture to the painting and he met looks, maiden looks more cohesive composition. Now I will use the blue one. I am using the technique splashes using my flat brush and a bamboo stick. You can refer to that on the glass for how to create that texture in your paintings. I will put the link on this class description for you to watch as well. So now I will let this dry and we'll proceed to paint the other cotton candies in. Now, this is how they look. I will see you in the next video. 8. Purple Cotton Candy: We are going to be changing the colors here and we are working with violet and purple. So I'm using a round brush and then I will start adding the water to the paper in circular motions, making the shape of a cotton candy. By now you are familiar with this technique to paint your cotton candy. So do be aware that practice may progress. And the more you paint, the more control with two brushes you have. And also it allows you to get to know your mediums with the one you are working with. And this is very important in your practices as an artist or as a whole. If you are doing this as a hobby as well, It's very important that you practice and take time to get to know your mediums and your tools to use them accordingly. And effectively. I didn't just following the water with my purple color. As you can see, I'm mixing a little bit of the lighter violet. So the mix becomes a little bit milky in a way. So when it dries, it looks really beautiful and vibrant. Water to my colors. So it becomes lighter. Helps the mixing on the paper easier. To get the look that I want on this painting. As always, we're painting on layers. The colors get the real effect of a cotton candy. Always been there. Watercolors dry is, becomes lighter in check. So don't worry about it is look into that because when it dries the point, the paper up, the color and the water, it really gets a little bit lighter in pigment. Now I am using my spray bottle to make the little hair. French yogurt effect. As you can see. If you don't have a spray, water bottle, bottle. With a spray, you can use the dripping technique with the stroke. And this is another of the techniques that I share in the class of techniques make texture injure paintings. And I will put the link on the description for this class so you can refer over there to the different ate, a difference techniques to use to give more texture to your paintings. But if you have a spray bottle, then you are set for the class. I am adding the last touches before I let this to dry a little bit before continuing with the painting. Maintain to the brush. Wet. Because this is very important to move the watercolor around in the paint. Now that my painting is completely dry, I will proceed to paint the stick using a smaller brush. This case is a round brush. I'm using the color burn down in a lighter shade. Just adding water to the color becomes lighter in shape. So easy as that. Then when it's dry, I will proceed to add the last layer on this cotton candy and see how it is going. Well, while it drives, how the colors is looking. And just softening those heartbeat, a cluster of colors. On some ideas. I will add the same background as we did in the last two cotton candies. Using the two colors I have here. Just making these little dots or painting becomes more fun. And cute. Add as many as you like. Your background, become festive. And the contrast is really nice. So when you are ready with your thoughts, or SDK is completely dry. And now we can proceed to paint the NIN using a contrasting color here. I'm using the blue to give you a little bit of fun. So it looks more contrasting. This is a lethal weapon. To make it good and cute. Now I will add the splashes using the darker watercolor, the purple one. So it makes the painting more texturize and Martin contrast and vibrant. Then I will let this dry and I will see you in the next video. 9. Violet Cotton Candy: Okay, I will be using for this cotton candy, the violet color is the very light one. Then activating it with what? Applying a couple of drops from my little button IN using this round brush. And we're going to proceed to wet the paper, just wiping my brush on water and then starting to make those circular motions on the paper. So this is called the wet-on-wet technique. Then I will apply the color on those wet spaces on my paper. And the magic will happen. I want this to be very, very light. So I'm diluting this color as much as I can, adding enough water. So the color really, really gets super, super light. And using the circular motion as we have been done during this whole class. As applied in some brushes. To make the shadows on the painting. I can't wait to see what colors you choose for your cotton candies and how they turn out. You can always upload your work to the project section on this class. It's always fun to see how to interpret date the classes in how you use the techniques. And of course, seed your work and get to talk to you about the, the beautiful piece to create it. Along with the class. I am just adding some more color here and there. On the face layer of watercolor. This luggage really, really soft and nice. When you fail to our red. Then pick up a spray water bottle. The water so the little sugar hairs appears on your paper. And then if you have too much water, just leave the x's with your towel. This is a great technique to lift up the colors or the excess water or paint. Now I will proceed with this second layer of color until I feel it is enough to let this dry. And then see if I need to add a little bit more of a layered or just go with the glaze technique to pick up the hard lines that sometimes form in the painting when the colors start to donate in a place of your painting. The glaze technique is very easier to use. Just do need to have a clean brush and wet on water and then go through your painting with a brush in the water. And the watercolor will reactivate. And then you can move it where you want it to get or you can even lift those spaces with that. I think this lady. And then I will get the cotton candy to proceed with the next step. Now I think it is enough of adding the legs. I will let this dry. Now. I will proceed to paint the stick using a brown color in a smaller brush. So easy it is somebody's. So I didn't just making the color a little bit light to dodge the cotton candy without the color getting activated on my violet cotton candy. Now this is the super dry, and I will proceed to add more down motion colors onto my cotton candy. So it looks like the shadows I'm, will make my cotton candy pop up and no loop and doesn't look too flat on the paper. We're just adding a little bit of texture. You can also use white to make it this color more milky and jugar Like if you have passed and colors Danny's, they will work as well. Really nice. I then just picking up a little bit of the color with my bigger brush to smooth those lines. It is looking just like clouds. If you see it carefully. They look like cotton candy clouds. Now, my painting is totally dry and I will proceed to add the splashes. So big. Cotton candy. Get a little bit more structure and contrast. And doesn't look so flat on the paper. Using my flat brush and the bamboo stick to make the splashes. Now I will add a little bit of the darker, purple. So the splashes pop up on my violet cotton candy just to get more contrast in the painting. When it dries. If it looks more decks to rise. When you feel it this enough from splashes, then let this dry. Now it's completely dry and I will add the little ribbon using in the darker purple color to make the contrast. Using a small round brush. It is looking really, really nice and cute. And I can't really wait until it. You can upload your project work to the project section for this class. And I would also add some dots in the same that getting purple. This makes a nice contrast in the whole painting, in the composition looks more cohesive and beautiful. You can also use gold color if you prefer. And it will make a nice look, studious. Contrast. I will add some more and then I will let this completely dry. So here we have our two violet and purple cotton candy. I will see you in the next video. 10. Cotton Candy: Alright, let's take a look at all or for cotton candies in the different shades that we did together in this class. And as you can see, the yellow, so fluffy and so beautiful.
