1. Hello - Intro to the Class: Hello and welcome to this class. My name is Heidi,
and I will guide you through the whole process of creating these beautiful
Valentine's cards using watercolors. In this class, I am sharing
with you the whole process from the blank canvas
to the final piece. For this class, I choose to use the technique, the confetti, and I think you
will love this fun and pretty technique to
apply to your cards. You will need very
simple supplies and I will explain them
to you in the next video. You can follow me here
on the skill chair, so you don't miss any new update or classes that I am
sharing with you. Let's begin. I will see
you in the next video.
2. Confetti Hearts: Materials: These are the materials
for this motif. I have the mixing pan, clean water, a towel. I have two cookie cutters, hair shape that I will
show you how to use it. This is optional, two brushes, one verified and one flat brush. I have two colors, you can use any shape you like. I am using violets and lilac because I want
to use these two color. But you can use any
color you want, like pink and blue, yellow and red, whatever
satisfy your creativity. A piece of paper
to make the color, I have already my paper fix with washing tape on a surface
to protect the table. Now we can start. I will start by placing
the water colors on my mixing pan so I can easily take them
to start to paint. Placing them a little bit
separate so they don't mix yet. I will start by making
the color chart, starting with the darker color, in this case, the violet. Then I will add just water
and see how the color react as I apply water
to dilute the pigment. I really like these
two colors together. I wanted to go a little bit for my usual colors, pink and blue. I wanted to try this with you. Now let's try the lilac. This is a more pastern color and it is a very
beautiful contrast. This is the first part of the material step we
are going to be using. During this motive, I
suggested you have beforehand some Q tips and a color
it water color and gold. Or it can be in or a creer or paint that you can
use to make some contrasts. But later on or
painting and also a fine liner brush
paint To write a code, I will let this try, but it
is looking very beautiful. I will see you in
the next video.
3. Confetti Hearts: Stamping The Heart Shapes: Okay, let's do this fun
transferring with cookie cutters, the watercolor under the paper. You can, if you have
this, of course, if you have a hair
shape cookie cutter, then you said, if you
don't have, don't worry, you can do it by hand or
you can cut this shape in a cart paper or you can
trace it with your pencil And then go through
brush and water color. I will start by the watercolor and then going with
my brush around, the silhouette of my
Coke cutter mining that the water color
is not to runny water but more on the paste paste side so it can stamp
the shape onto the paper. But if it doesn't stamp it perfectly,
don't worry about it. You can go afterwards
with your brush and make it a
silhouette as you want. In this case, we want
this to be in her shapes. I want this to be
two hair shapes. Because we are creating
this Valentine's motive. It is best if it's analyze
two herds together, just one. I think it is good
enough and I will try to stamp it onto the center of my watercolor paper
and see how it goes. Remember, it doesn't need
to be perfect for me. It is not stamping
itself perfectly, But I have the lines
and I can go now with my brush and complete
the silhouette. It is even more
fun because I can practice my hand painting. As you can see, it is
going super, super easy. I will do this with
the two colors, the violet and now the lilac, my two hairs on my
watercolor paper. I will see you in
the next video.
4. Confetti Hearts: Background: When you finish transferring
the shapes onto your paper, now it's time to start dragging those water color
with your brush. You can use your round brush. I prefer to use my flat
brush because if you give me more mobility
onto the paper as I want to drag the
color away from the to paint the
background of my painting, you can make it
more dramatic and leave the back of the hers. But I want to paint the whole a background of the paper,
the white background. Because later we
are going to apply a very fun technique
that you will be loving. I think for that I want to make a contrast between the center of the hearth and the
background itself. Go slowly and very
carefully to all the lines, including the lines of the smaller her going inside the other
because I want to make this like the heirs are functioning themselves into
one or completing themselves. That is the message to speak, to make this more romantic, go around dragging the
color away from the shapes. You can leave it here
if you want completely fine or do you want
this dramatic look. But as I want to express
another feeling here, I want the whole background to have a little bit of pigment. Not too dark, but I want, I want the color to
run around my paper. I am covering all the corners and adding a little bit more of pigment if I think I want
them and you can do the same. Maintaining the paper,
the color blends easily. Start to give me
some darker spots. Then I will go with
my brush and move the color, maintaining
my silhouette. The lines doesn't shade away too much, fade
away too much. I keep the two shapes
and it is visible for the viewer or the
recipient, for this car, that it is two herds hugging
each other, so to speak, Smooth those hard lines
around the hears, the two colors blend together. When I am satisfied
with the background at it is still a little
bit wet, not dry. I will go with my
brush, my run brush, and toss the paper
different points to make some spots while the paper
is a little bit wet. Afterwards, I will
soften those points, but I want this to
show up a little bit. You can do the same,
or you can let it as it is right now. You will see when we apply the fan technique adding confit it to this
beautiful painting, you will have another
effect on the card. Go around and let those colors
mix with the background at a little bit of water above those points and
soften them as you go. I will see you in
the next video.
5. Confetti Hearts: Q-Tips Confetti First Layer: Let's create some confetti
or two head shapes. For that, we need to tips gold ink or gold water colors
Whatever you have at hand, I forgot to show you here, but you need a brush pen. I will reactivate the water
color I have on my palette. I will add my gold
ink to the mix. We can start to make those
beautiful confetti effects on our background of card
is super, super easy. Make sure your background
is completely dry and you need to tips because
we have three colors, we need to use them
for the colors. Okay, then it's super simple. We are going to make
tips with the colors. And then going around the lines, at first around the
silhouette of painting. I am doing some testing
on my color chart to see if the color is
enough reactivated. This was the whole night here before I was waiting for
the painting to dry. That is why it is so dry. But this is good like that. It's okay. Now I
am starting to go around on my silhouette
with the Q tips. Using first the darker
color I have on my palette, which is the violet, I will paint a dose little dots, simulating confetti,
the whole lines. It is a very fun technique and when it is all done
with all the colors, looks super fun and super cute. I will go around all
the silhouette and then I will go away from, from the lines on the
corners of my painting. You can imagine that the
conft is coming from above and falling
onto the heirs, but the hairs are hugging, the confetti doesn't
stay on the shapes. But I will do this around the hole painting
first with the darker color. Then I will switch
to the next color, which is the lilac. This is more paste. It will not show so much up, but we need this to
make the contrast. You can get creative, and you can use other
colors to make this more vibrant and colorful. But I wanted to stay
with two shapes first, and then adding and the
gold in the next period.
6. Confetti Hearts: Gold Confetti: Time to add the cold to
our confetti background. For that we're going to
use or Q tips clean, fierce layers of confetti. With the violet and
the Ac are dry, it doesn't mix with the cold. We are going around
with our gold confetes, making those
confetti background. As you can see,
it is starting to look very fancy and
luxurious and fun, and pretty and cute. And that is what we
are going for here. Do as much as you want from the thoughts from the
confettes around. When you are satisfied with
the amount of gold confetti, you can then stop. I will show you what to do
next with this gold color, as well as you know. When you are creating ideas
are coming to your mind. And you can pay attention
to them, use them, or you can save them
for another painting, if that doesn't apply
to your actual paint. Now my idea is I
will go around with the goal around the
silhouette of my hairs to make them pop up
a little bit more before we add the text
inside the white spaces. We are going to speak about
that just in a minute. We are going to be around
the silhouette with oral color to make those beautiful hair
shapes pop up even more. Don't overdo these steps. Go very slow and keep
it simple as you can. I think our painting is
looking very beautiful. I will remove the tapes because my painting
is completely dry. And we can then start to
move on on the next steps, which is adding the text
inside the white spaces. For that, I want the
paper to be mobile so I can write easily onto them. But take a look, Look how it is looking. I think it is looking
very beautiful and cute. I will see you in
the next video.
7. Confetti Hearts: Lettering Phrase and Reveal : Okay, my painting
is completely dry. In this part of our painting, we are going to
add the text code or message that you want to convey to the person you
are giving this card. And I choose the
phrase, I adore you. And I trace it with
my watercolor pencil. And I use watercolor pencils because they can be CD erase. Or if I use watercolors
with my brush, then the watercolors
dissolve itself. Here I am using a brush
pen in color, black, too bright in lettering
style, the phrase. You can use any
type of lettering that you prefer or that
you are used to do. Don't feel intimidated with this style if you are
not a lettering artist, but you can try is always a good thing to
learn, a good skill. You can also use another
type of markers, like fine liners or
paint markers that are easier to use for people that are not
familiar with lettering, but don't feel that
you can do it. Because anyone can
learn and anyone can do these beautiful
lettering styles. You can choose any other
message, or phrase, or word that you want to convey to the person
you are giving this cart. Now I will add some details
inside the heirs to bring a little bit more of cuteness to this card, little gold hairs. Then we are done with
this beautiful card and we are ready to give
it to someone we love, we appreciate we all. I am sure they will
be very pleased and happy to receive
this beautiful card. I am super, super happy to have you in this
part of the class. Thank you so much for
being with me so far. I can wait to see. What color do you choose
for your background, how you chose to
make the confetti? What phrase if you didn't
use the same as I did here. Please consider
