3. Introduction to TikTok Marketing: TikTok has taken
the world by storm, becoming one of the most
popular social media platforms, especially among
younger generations, initially launched
in China in 2016, where it was called Dying. In 2018, TikTok went global after merging
with musical LY, the famous Lip syncing app. This merger was a game changer, bringing TikTok to new markets and a broader
audience worldwide. Today, TikTok isn't
just big. It's massive. Users from all
corners of the globe, from different cultures and
backgrounds come together on TikTok to share and
discover exciting content, whether it's dance challenges, creative storytelling, or
marketing products, services, and experiences, TikTok's
diverse community makes it a unique and
dynamic platform. TikTok started out as the G two app for lip
syncing and dance videos. But it has quickly
transformed into a platform brimming
with diverse content. Now, users share everything from comedy sketches and cooking tutorials to
educational videos. For instance, I even teach digital marketing and
productivity tips on TikTok. This expansion into various content genres
has made TikTok appealing to a
broader audience and relevant to countless
interest groups. Beyond just fun videos, TikTok has ranged the
influencer scene. It's given rise to a new wave of social media stars who
use their creativity, authenticity, and relatability
to build large followings. Brands have taken notice. Teaming up with
these influencers for impactful
marketing campaigns. These collaborations
have turned TikTok into a hot spot for
influencer led promotions. But what about the world of
business and E commerce? TikTok offers businesses
a golden opportunity to connect with a highly
engaged and diverse audience. With over 1 billion
monthly active users, TikTok provides access to potential customers across different demographics
and location. It's particularly ideal
for brands targeting younger consumers given
its predominantly Gen Z and millennial user base. Here's how TikTok is
reshaping online shopping. First, shoppable features. TikTok has rolled out features like the
yellow basket buttons, allowing users to shop
directly from videos. Brands can link their
products to these buttons. Making it easier for
viewers to purchase items without leaving
the app next, influencer and
affiliate marketing. Influencers play a huge role
in driving sales on TikTok. Brands partner with influencers to promote products through engaging content such as
reviews, tutorials, and boxings. Many influencers also participate
in affiliate programs. Earning commissions
for sales driven through their unique
links or discount codes. Third, user generated content
or UGC for E commerce. Brands encourage users to create content featuring
their products. UGC is powerful because it shows real people using
and enjoying products, building trust and credibility
among potential customers. Fourth, live shopping. Live shopping events on
TikTok allow brands to host interactive streams
where viewers can buy products in real time. These events are engaging with
hosts showcasing products, answering questions, and
offering exclusive discounts, creating a seamless
shopping experience. Last but not the least, TikTok adds for E commerce. TikTok offers various ad
formats like I feed ads, branded effects, and
sponsored hashtag challenges. These ads can drive traffic,
boost brand awareness, and generate sales by
targeting users based on their demographics,
interests, and behaviors. In summary, TikTok has
evolved far beyond its roots, showcasing its adaptability
and innovation. Its influence on E
commerce is growing, providing brands
with creative ways to connect with consumers, drive product discovery,
and increase sales. As TikTok continues to evolve, it's set to remain a major player in the
social media world, shaping how we create consume
content and shop online. Up next, we're diving into how to find your
unique spot on TikTok. Picking your niche and understanding why
it's so important. Get ready to roll up
your sleeves because we've got an exciting
exercise to do together. When you're ready, jump into the next lesson and
let's get started.
4. Picking Your Niche: In this lesson, we'll kick start your TikTok marketing journey
by picking your niche. But first, let's talk about why finding your niche on
TikTok is so important. Here are the three main reasons. First is audience
centric approach. By selecting a specific niche, you can tailor your content to appeal to a targeted
audience with shared interests, preferences,
and demographics. This focus approach helps
you attract and retain followers who are genuinely
interested in your content, leading to higher
engagement rates and a more loyal fan base. Next is expertise and authority. Focusing on a niche allows
you to establish yourself as an expert or authority within that specific
topic or industry. Consistently creating valuable
and insightful content within your niche builds credibility and trust
within your audience, positioning you as a go to
resource for information, advice, or entertainment
related to that niche. Third is content consistency. Having a clear niche
helps you maintain consistency in your
content strategy. When your content revolves around a specific
theme or topic, it becomes easier to
brainstorm ideas, plan your content calendar, and create a cohesive
brand identity. To identify your niche, here's a quick activity
that you can do. First, draw three overlapping
circles like this. On the first circle, label it as your skills. This is where you
put what skills you have in or past experiences. For example, you have been a fitness trainer for
the past ten years. On the second circle
on your right, label it as your interests. This is where you list down what your interests are as
a business or creator. For example, you enjoy weightlifting, cooking
nutritious food, filming quick workouts that are time efficient
yet effective, and spreading awareness
about fitness. On the last bubble, label it as what
your audience needs. This is where you list down what your audience needs or
where they struggle. For example, number one, they are millennials
who struggle to be active because of
their busy schedule. Number two, they
still want to enjoy yummy recipes that are
healthy and quick to prepare. Number three, they want a workout program that's
enjoyable and easy to follow. Finally, in the middle, where all the circles meet, that is where your niche lies. Label it as Niche. This is where your skills, interests, and
audience needs meet. For example, your chosen
Niche on TikTok is 30 minute workouts and healthy recipes for busy
millennials and Gen Zs. You will create content about 30 minute activities
to stay active and you will also share 30 minute recipes that are
healthy and easy to follow. Now it's your turn. Use this diagram to find
out what your niche is. Check out the TikTok
marketing workbook on the resources tab and start
picking out your niche. In summary, finding a niche on TikTok is essential for
audience targeting. Content differentiation, establishing expertise, and
maintaining consistency. It lays the foundation for building a successful
presence on the platform and maximizing your impact as a content
creator or business. Now that you have successfully
discovered your niche, it's time to set up
your TikTok account. Head on to the next
lesson for our Mini demo, setting up your TikTok account.
5. Mini-demo: Setting up your TikTok Account: Welcome to this Mini demo. In this demo, we will set
up your TikTok account. Prepare your mobile phone
and let's get started. So first, you need to download the TikTok app on
your mobile phone, so you can download it from your Google Play Store
or your Apple Store. Now, the next step is
to create an account. You can see I have an
account already on TikTok, but to create an account, just simply press the
ad account button. Then you have
several ways on how you can set up an
account on TikTok. You can use your
phone or e mail, you can connect your Facebook, your Apple ID, your
Google account, your line, and even
your account took. Choose one from the
Roster available in here and then follow the steps that you will see
on your screen. Now, Tik Tok will ask
you for your user name. Make sure that you are choosing a user name that
fits your brand. For me, I used Kristine socials because
my name is Kristine, and I am a social media manager. Now, the next step is turning your personal profile
into a business profile. Now, to do that, go to your
profile and then click the three lines up here on the upper right corner
of your screen. Then down here, choose
the settings in privacy, then choose account. Then click the switch to business account a
button right here. Now, TikTok welcomes you
to your business account, and just click next and
follow the steps on your screen to turn your personal profile
into a business profile. Once you're all set, you can start creating, and you will start
having access to business analytics
and helpful features as a creator or as a business. And there you have it
your own Tectok account. Of course, we are
not stopping here. Head on to the next
lesson to know how to optimize your tectok profile
for maximum visibility.
6. Demo: Optimizing your TikTok Profile: Now. Now that your
account is ready, it's time to optimize
your TikTok profile. Optimizing your
TikTok profile is crucial for making a
strong first impression, Improving searchability, establishing a brand identity
and enhancing credibility. Prepare your mobile phone
and TikTok account, and let's get started. Once your account is ready, the next step is to optimize your TikTok profile for
maximum visibility. Now, the first step
is to make sure that your TikTok name
is SEO friendly. You can see your
display name up here. Now, every time you post, you will see your display name visible at the bottom
of your TikTok videos. So make sure that it is
searchable and SEO friendly. To change your display name, go to your profile and
click Edit profile. Then under the name, you can change your TikTok name. Your TikTok nickname can only be changed once every seven days. So take note of that. Right now, my name is Christine
and digital marketer. My name plus what I do. Now I just want to
add an emoji on my Tektok name because
you can actually do that. There. Take note
that you can add only up to 30 characters. Click, save. TikTok asks you to confirm the changes
that you have made, so just click Confirm. And now my name is
already updated. Now I have here some
popular creators on TikTok, and let's look at their profile. The next step is to
make sure that you have a clear profile picture. So if you can use a
face instead of a logo, then do that so that you can help add to the
authenticity factor. So it's nice to
see other creators faces and connect with them
through their TikTok videos. Now, for the biosection, we only have a limit
of 80 characters. So it's quite short. Reading the biosection
of this creator, it says creator
teaching creators. Abigail is a content
creator that is also teaching other creators. The next line is monetize your content with
digital products. So Abigail is teaching how to monetize your content through
selling digital products. So she is helping other creators monetize their content
on social media. She also has a link available
in here to her stand store. Teco allows you to add links to your profile once you've hit a certain follower milestone. Then you can also link
your Instagram account. To edit your bio section, go to edit profile. Then go to Bio. And then start editing
your biosection. Take note of the limit up
to 80 characters only. You can even mention a page, a brand that is relevant
to your tectok profile. Make sure that you keep your biosection
fresh and updated. It doesn't have to be
perfect on your first try. You can curate it as you
go through optimizing your tectok profile and
as your business evolves. So it's okay if you
edit your biosection as much as you want in a day or in a week In your bio section, you can add what you do, who you help or who you
serve and some sort of call to action if you
already have a link. Now, once you are happy with your bio section,
just click save. Then your new biosection will show up on your TikTok profile. Now, let's look at her content. So you have here
different content, but she has a
cohesive cover image. The texts are readable and she follows or she uses just
one cover image design. Now, let's look at another
popular creator on TikTok. Maggie is a TikTok strategist based on her name
and on her content, looking at her bio section. So she says, blow up your Biz and bank account
by Bing strategically. So that is how she helps her clients or her
viewers on TikTok. Then the next line, it says, Let's work one on one, and it has an arrow down
pointing to her stand store. And then finally, she has an
Instagram account linked. Link other social
media platforms. Here's what you can do. Click edit profile.
Then scroll down, and then under Social, you will see here, Instagram,
YouTube, and Twitter. So I already linked my
Instagram account here. You can choose to link or
unlink your Instagram account. If you want to link a
social media account, just follow the steps
shown on your screen by logging in on that specific
social media account, then follow the steps
on your screen. So if you have a lot
of content already, you can add playlists to
organize your content here. So she has personal
brand strategy, content that converts
storytelling, and then creator habits. That way you can categorize your content for easy
reference of your viewers. Then scrolling down,
you will see that she has some pin posts
on her profile. To pin a content
on your profile, just simply press
the three dots down here and then choose pin. So there, you will able to see your pin content at the
top of your profile. Scrolling down again, you
will see that she has a cohesive cover image
on her TikTok videos. All the texts are visible so that viewers can binge
on your content more. Just like this, how to make content creation
100 times easier. So people would know what they would expect on that
specific video. And now you're fully optimized and ready to create
content on TikTok. But before we do that, let's get to know how
TikTok pushes content. Head on to the next lesson
and let's dive into the world of tiktok algorithms.
I'll see you there.
7. Diving into the TikTok Algorithm: In this lesson, we're
diving into the magic behind TikTok success,
the TikTok algorithm. But what exactly is
the TikTok algorithm? Simply put, it's a smart
system that decides which videos show up on the
user's for U pages or FYP. Understanding how this algorithm works can help creators and businesses optimize
their content for better visibility
and engagement. So let's unravel the mystery of the TikTok algorithm and learn how to make
it work for you. Now, how does the
algorithm work exactly? The first step is uploading
a video on TikTok. Then once it's uploaded, it undergoes a review. TikTok checks if it follows the community guidelines
or if it has a violation. If the content violates
TikTok's community guidelines, the content will be removed. Then TikTok shows your
content to TikTok users. If your content has good
engagement and retention rate, TikTok will continue to
display your content to more users until it reaches
the FYP or fo you page. Now, you might be wondering what exactly influences
the TikTok algorithm. Let's break it down. First up, we have
user interactions. This covers everything from
likes and comments to shares, watch time, and
completion rates. Even favorites, duets,
and stitches play a part in how the algorithm
decides what content to show. Next, we dive into
video information. The content of your
video matters. A lot. Think keywords in your captions, the popularity of
the audio you used, relevant hashtags, and even the effects
and filters you apply. These factors can boost your discoverability and help you ride the wave
of current trends. Then there's video details. TikTok loves high quality videos paired with eye
catching thumbnails. After all, a great thumb nail can be the difference between someone scrolling
past your video or hitting that play button. Lastly, let's not forget
about the creator's history. TikTok takes into account your past performance and consistency in creating content. Regular posting signals
to the algorithm that you are active and
committed to your audience. In a nutshell, the
TikTok algorithm is all about delivering content that users are likely to enjoy based on
their interactions, preferences, and the
details of the video. Its goal to keep users entertained and
engaged for longer. For businesses and creators. Understanding and leveraging
these factors is key. Engage trending
sounds and hashtags, produce top notch videos, and keep that interaction with
your followers consistent. This way, you'll boost
your chances of getting your content discovered and
promoted on the platform. Now that you're armed with knowledge about the
TikTok algorithm, it's time to put it into action. Join me in the next
lesson as we start building your content strategy.
I'll catch you there.

10. Hashtags and Keywords: Now, let's talk about
Hashtags on TikTok. Your ticket to boosting content
virality and engagement. These little wonders may not be the main drivers of
discoverability, but they have the power to amplify what's already
working in your content. Think of Hashtags as
your trustee side kicks. They categorize your videos, connect you with users
with similar interests and extend your contents reach far and wide across
the platform. In this section,
we're diving deep into the Hashtag game
uncovering how they work. And dishing out some
top notch strategies to help skyrocket your contents,
visibility, and engagement. Here's the golden rule
when it comes to hashtags. Relevancy is king. When choosing hashtags, think about three key things. Number one, your topic. Select hashtags that speak directly to the heart
of your content. What problem are you solving or struggle are you addressing? Number two, your
target audience. Who are you trying to reach? Are they business owners, tech fans, or
fitness enthusiasts? Number three, their desires. What are the dreams
and desires of your audience that align
with your content? Now, let's dive into an example
to bring it all to life. Imagine you're a
fitness trainer gearing up to drop some work
out wisdom on TikTok. Here's how you might
tackle your Hasta game. In the first row,
we have the topic. For example, you're trying
to solve in your content how your target audience
can squeeze in a workout in their
busy schedules. You can use the Hashtags hashtag quick workout routine and hashtag 30
minute home workout. Then your target audience
are millennials and Genzs. Your hashtags can be hashtag working millennials,
Hashtag Genz lifestyle. Finally, your target
audience desires to have a healthier lifestyle
and happier mood. Your hashtags can be hashtag
healthier lifestyle. Hashtag manage mood better, and hashtag happier mindset. You can totally
use this exercise when you're doing Hashtag
research for your content. C heck out the
hashtag section of the TikTok marketing workbook
and start practicing. Now, what are the dos and don'ts for Hashtag
strategy on TikTok. First, do use hashtags
that have a lot of views. Hashtags with more than
1 million views means that a lot of people are interested in that
specific topic. Don't use Nish hashtags
with low views because that signals that only a few people are interested in that topic. That means fewer eyeballs
for your content. Second, Do use hashtags that are relevant to
your topic or video. Don't use generic
hashtags like Hashtag FYP or hashtag TikTok USA or
hashtag for you page. Third, do use hashtags that describe your
target audience. Doing this might help your content reach
the right audience, and don't use
irrelevant hashtags. Finally, do use at least three to five or
six hashtags in your posts, and don't over clotter your content with
too many hashtags. In summary, hashtugs
on TikTok are like the secret sauce that
spices up your content, making it more discoverable,
trendier, and engaging. Stay on top of the game by
keeping your htugs relevant, riding the wave of trend, and analyzing what's
working for you. With these strategies
in your back pocket, you'll be unstoppable on Tectok. But enough talk, it's time
to put theory into practice. In our next lesson, we're diving headfirst
into the TikTok app. Get your mobile phones ready, and I'll see you in

getting hands on. We'll start navigating
the TikTok app. Then we'll create a
TikTok video and post it. Make sure that you have your mobile phone and
TikTok account ready, so we can do this
together. I'll set. Let's dive right in. Let's start by navigating
the TikTok app. So we have here at the
bottom your menu bar. So you have here the home shop, the plus button wherein you can start creating or
shooting content. You have your inbox
and then your profile. So once you open the TikTok app, it will take you to home
under the Four page. So we have here
different categories. So let's try to
explore first friends. This is where you can find content posted by your friends. Next up, following. Under following,
you can see content posted by people or
brands you follow. Then finally, your
four U page or FYP. FYP is a page on
TikTok filled with content and videos that app
things you'll enjoy the most. It is based on
your interests and engagement activities
as a TikTok user. So zooming in on the right
portion of your screen, You have here the logo
of the creator or the profile picture of the creator that posted
that specific content. Next, you can like the post. You can leave a comment, you can save the content, and you can even share the
content to other platforms. Then finally, at the bottom, you'll see the track
or the audio that is used on that specific video. Then on your left, you will see the TikTok
name of that creator, and under that, you will see the captions from
that specific post. Up here, you also have a search button
wherein you can search different types of content and see what is trending
on TikTok as well. Next, you have a shop. TikTok is a social
media platform that has an E commerce
built in with it. You can discover new products
and shop inside the app. Then we have here
the plus button, wherein you can start recording and creating
your TikTok content. We will try to explore more
of this feature later on. Then you have here the inbox, wherein you can see messages, notifications, and activities from followers and people engaging
with your content. Finally, you have
here your profile. So at the top here, there is a drop down
menu or button, wherein you can
change or log in from different TikTok accounts
that you have in here. So I do have several
TikTok accounts that I can easily switch from. Then the three lines up here
opens up your settings. Now, this is your TikTok feed. When you press this button, you can see your TikTok feed. You can even sort from the latest videos or the most popular
videos that you have. Next, are the only me videos
or even your story archives, your posts, the things

a TikTok video. I hope you got super excited about creating more
TikTok videos. Go back to your content
strategy and start creating. In the next lesson, we will talk about an
essential tool for creators and businesses,
TikTok Analytics.
13. TikTok Analytics : Now, let's talk about
TikTok Analytics, a valuable tool for
creators and businesses. It gives you detailed insights into how your content
is performing, who is watching, and
how you can improve. With TikTok analytics, you
can explore the impact of your content from audience engagement
to overall growth. Understand your audience better, what they like, how they behave, and what they want
to see more of. To access your TikTok analytics, go to your profile. Then choose the three lines at the upper right
corner of your screen. Then choose creator tools, and inside, you'll access
your analytics dashboard. You have your analytics,
monetization, tools and content inspiration where you can find trending and recommended TikTok videos. Then let's go to Analytics. First, choose the duration or time frame of the
analytics you want to see. Then under the overview tab, we have here post views. The number of times your
videos have been viewed, profile views indicates how often your profile
has been visited. Likes, comments, and shares, measure the engagement
your videos receive. Then when we scroll down here, you can see the traffic source. Is the traffic from search, personal profile, sound,
following or for you page. Then below that, you can
see the search queries. These are search queries from viewers that led
them to your post. Then under the content tab, you'll see your top posts. In here, you can see the videos
that have the most views, most like a new
followers gained. Then under the viewers tab, you'll see your total viewers. Then you also have here creators and videos that your
viewers also watched and viewed to get more inspiration on what
your viewers are watching. Then under the followers tab, you'll see your followers demographics and
most active times. Now, going back to
content insights, click a video to see the
video or post analysis. Inside, you'll see your key
metrics such as video views, the total number of
views for each video. Total playtime, the cumulative amount of time your videos
have been watched. Average watch time, the average duration users
spend watching your videos. Watched full video. This shows the percentage of viewers who watch the
video in its entirety. Then scrolling down, we
have retention rates. This measures the
effectiveness of your content in keeping
viewers engaged. A high retention
rate indicates that viewers are watching your
videos almost to the end. Suggesting that your content
is engaging and well paced. On the other hand,
lower retention rate suggests that viewers
are dropping off early, indicating that you may need
to optimize your content, including improving your
hook or content quality. We have here the
retention graph. The drop off points
show where viewers are losing interest and dropping
off in your videos. Identifying these
points helps you understand which parts of your content may
need improvement. Then down here you
have traffic sources. Again, if it's from F you page, personal profile
following, search, sound, and other sources. Then under video
or post analysis, you have the viewers. You can see here the total
viewers then the viewer types. Are they new viewers
or returning viewers? Are they followers
or non followers? Then scrolling down,
you'll see the gender, age and location of those who viewed this
specific content. Finally, under the
engagement tab, you can see the likes and
top words used in comments. That's a wrap on our tour
of TikTok analytics. With this powerful tool, you've got everything you need to level up your TikTok game. TikTok analytics
