1. Welcome To The Class!: The YouTube studio. The YouTube studio is actually to be considered the most important tool you have to succeed on youtube. The youtube studio is the ultimate real-time feedback-machine. Well now, imagine a situation were you don't know how to use it. Or you don't know what each button does. where you can't probably read your analytics. That's exactly how I used to feel three years ago. I would put days of effort into my videos just to be disappointed by their performance. I was lost and slowly but surely I started spending days overnights nerding out over the youtube studio Check in out every single metric in depth to seek a way of making my videos better, a way of getting them to perform better. I studied the youtube studio so hard. That I became addicted to it. Like every day I would spend a couple of hours, just Just on the youtube studio check in very in depth metrics. I know that the youtube studio can look overwhelming. You don't know what each button does. You don't know how to create a playlist. You don't know how to edit the captions on your videos you don't know how to probably read your analytics. You don't understand what CPM and RPM mean. You don't understand your copyright strikes and the guidelines strikes. Well, trust me when I tell you this class has everything you need to know about the youtube studio. And much more. This class covers a full walk-through of the youtube studio and a guide to using the youtube studio to better improve your videos performance. Buckle up because we're about to dive deep in the youtube Studio. And everything about youtube will finally start making sense. 2. before we start: First of all, before we start, the Youtube Studio is filled with tons of information that you can use to grow your youtube channel and tons of micro settings you can manage. In this course, I cover most of them. About 90% of the most commonly used metrics, settings, uses of the YouTube Studio. But if there is anything that I missed, anything, leave a comment on this course telling me what I should cover, and I will instantly make that lesson in the next few days. I'm very active on Skill share. 00:00:29.055 --> 00:00:31.080 So, if there any concerns or any lessons you want to add it to this course. I will make them and they will be up in a few days. And I will reply to your comments saying that I have posted the lesson you recommended me to pause, but don't worry, I have covered about 95% of the youtube studio in this course, I would recommend that you don't skip lessons. But if you want to, you will find the titles of the lessons. I explain what the lesson covers. But I wouldn't recommend you skip lessons. I'm covering really important stuff that is really going to make a difference when it comes to youtube career. And it's going to save you months of effort. And the class project I want from you in this course is basically to follow step-by-step every move that I'm making in this course. If I'm teaching you how to manage the settings of your channel, go right now and manage those settings. While I'm showing you in that lesson. With that being said, I will see you in the next lesson. 3. The Youtube Dashboard: I will try and keep this lesson short and sweet. In this lesson, I will give you a quick walk-through of the Youtube Studio. There are mainly 10 pages in the Youtube Studio and the settings of your channel. Really quick, before we start to go in deeply in the Youtube Studio, you might find that your Youtube Studio is on light seem actually. This is how your Youtube Studio might look. But I would recommend that you go on Youtube icon from the top right corner and change your Youtube Studio appearance to dark theme. That way it will look nicer and it will be easier for you to follow up with me during this course. The first page you'll always be welcomed with is the channel dashboard. The channel dashboard is basically, a quick summary of every important bits of information in the Youtube Studio. You can find your subscribers count how many views you got in the last 28 days, how many hours of watch time? And a tool that is commonly used, You can find how your video rank compared to your previous 9 videos in terms of views. So, there's one of my videos, it got 16 views, four out of five compared to my previous 5 videos. That's an Youtube channel. So, there is not that many videos on this channel for youtube to compare to my latest video to them but Youtube compared my video to the previous four videos I posted on the channel. This metric is very quick to give you an estimate of how your latest video performed, compared to your previous videos. You can also find your impressions click-through rate for this video and average view duration. But we will get into that late. 00:01:27.320 --> 00:01:31.070 on the right side, you will find some news about Youtube, ideas for Youtube. And this week at YouTube in the creator inside youtube channel. You count them as basically youtube ads on your youtube studio. In the top right corner, you will find two upload buttons for you to upload YouTube videos to your channel. Later in the course, we'll discuss how to upload videos and edit descriptions, titles, thumbnails and all of that stuff. You will find the button for you to go live and also a button for you to chat with creator support. In the channel dashboard, You will also find your recent subscribers, and if you clicked on see all you can see your latest subscribers and you can also rank them by subscribing count of their individual channel. That's it for the channel dashboard. On the left side, you will find the 10 other pages you can go through, and you will find your Youtube channel. You can just click on your logo and you'll automatically drop into your youtube channel. Then next page is content. Content is basically a list of your uploaded Youtube videos. You can click on any individual video and see the analytics of that one. Or you can just edit your videos or adjust some settings. Then next page is playlist. Playlist is basically the playlist of Youtube channel that you made. analytics will show you all the overall data, of your entire youtube channel in the previous 28 days, or you can set it to the last 90 days to the lifetime of your Youtube channel, this is just a quick introduction. So, I won't to go into any depth in any of those pages. You will also find a page for comments, for you to manage the comments, left by your subscribers. You'll find a page for you to add subtitles to your videos in your language or in any different language. You will also find a page for monetarization And you have yet to meet the requirements needed for you to become a partner with Youtube , then there is the page will see. But if you were a partner with Youtube, there is sort of a page you will find. But we will discuss monetization in another lesson, you will find a page called customization. Here you can change the branding of your Youtube channel. You can upload a new cover. You can add a new profile picture, you can manage all of that stuff, but that's a topic for another lesson. Audio library is basically a list of three audio tracks you can use in your video without getting any copyright strikes or any of that stuff . there are lots of music. You can filter them through the track mood, the track title the genres the artists names, the duration. You can also find sound effects for you to use in your videos. And you can easily play any track you want and just easily download it and put it in your video. and the next thing we are goanna through in the next lesson is basically your Youtube settings and how to optimize them. See you in the next lesson. 4. Channel Settings: Now we're gonna go through the 6 settings of your Youtube channel. First of all, in general, you will find the currency of your Youtube channel. If you are yet to be monetized on YouTube, that wouldn't matter for you. But if you are monetized, you can just swap the currency to whatever currency of your country I have it here on Egyptian pound. So, it shows me 15 pounds. But if I change it to USD US dollar, it will automatically change to that amount on the currency I selected. Now we move on to the next setting ,Channel. You can select your country of residence, which is basically the country. You are, right now. You can add keywords, for youtube channel, it won't really matter. that much with theyoutube algorithm, but you can add keywords. for me, for this channel is basically about youtube education growing on YouTube, youtube views. It won't matter that much for your channel to get this covered, but you can just go ahead and add them. Now we move on to advanced settings. Here you can set your channel to be made for kids or not. If you are not making youtube channels for kids' directly like unboxing child's toys, or any of that stuff. Just set it to No, set this channel as not made for kids. But if you set it to yes, set this channel as made for kids now. Now Adults won't get recommended your videos. So, make sure to set it to no, This channel as not made for kids unless you are making kids directed content. Here you can connect your Google Ads account. It acts as a messenger. It gets the money from youtube channel and transfers it to your bank account or your PayPal. But we will get into that later with monetization, automatic captions don't show potentially inappropriate words. Basically, if you have subtitles, on your videos, and there is an inappropriate word like occurs or something, it will replace it with stars basically. Your subscriber counts this basically, a setting that will show you, if you want your viewers to know how many subscribers you currently have, I would recommend just leaving the subscriber count 00:01:58.160 --> 00:02:01.340 visible to everyone. If you uncheck this. your subscriber count on your channel will just disappear. You will still have those subscribers, but no one else will know how many subscribers You are currently on. Advertisements, disable interest-based ads don't take this setting, if you take this setting, it will severely limit your youtube revenue so, just leave this unchecked clips Basically, anyone can trim 00:02:22.325 --> 00:02:24.350 a part of your video and posted as a new video I would leave it tacked because anyone that can clip, a part of your video, maybe that video will get tons of views and those viewers will come to your youtube channel. So, I will just leave it on. You will find the other settings. Manage youtube account is basically you managing your personal account your personal youtube feed. Nothing that relates to your youtube viewer, you're also find Feature eligibility a setting, You will only go at once in a lifetime, basically, of your youtube channel is band or have many copyright strikes, you will find default features disabled, but other than that, it will always be enabled and the features that require phone verification are really important. So, I would recommend you click on them, and add your phone number and done. You have all the features of youtube enabled on your channel. You will find the upload defaults. upload defaults is a really important setting because because it can save you a lot of time. Basically, if you have a common word that you say in your titles, something like Gamaica, which is my name, stories #5 00:03:27.515 --> 00:03:30.715 If somehow you like adding that part to your titles you can just add it right here and it will be pasted into every video you upload from now on. You can also do that with a description of your video. You can add links to your Instagram, your social media, your email, and it will be automatically added to every video. Who upload from now on to your youtube channel. You can also select the visibility of new uploads. If you'd like to upload your videos and keep them private for a while, then publish them. You can just select private and every video you upload from now on will be private. And you can make it public. And now every video you upload would be automatically publish to your viewers. And you can also add tags. Tags aren't really that important anymore. But let's say you are channel about stories and a viewer is likely to type stories To find your video. you can just type the keywords, he might search on, to find your youtube channel. And those tags will be automatically pasted into every video you upload from now on, you can also select advanced settings you can allow automatic chapters, chapters basically divide your video into smaller parts. You can jump to any part of your video by the title of that part. I wouldn't allow automatic chapters. I will go and add them manually, but we will get into that later. You can select your video language, English or whatever, your title and description language, don't miss with the caption certificate, license and captions certifications 00:04:50.540 --> 00:04:52.595 are basically some legal settings. I will just keep them the way they are. Your videos Category is basically, are your videos about cars and vehicles, 00:04:58.715 --> 00:05:01.355 are they education, are they entertainment. You can select whatever category using your videos are. But it doesn't matter that much when it comes to the youtube algorithm or youtube views. So, I wouldn't worry that much about it. You can manage your comments from here. I will save it on hold potentially inappropriate comments for review. Basically, youtube will check your comments if youtube found some curse words in your comments he will just hide those comments from your subscribers. If you select, Allow all comments, anyone can go and curser in your comments and you will have to go through them manually and remove those comments. So, I will just hold potentially inappropriate comments for review. You can also disable your comments if you want to. I don't know. Maybe you want, you can also show how many likes your video has gotten so far. So basically in any youtube video, we can just hide this number and no one will know how many likes your video have gotten. Now we move on to the next setting, which is permissions. If you are not working alone on your youtube channel, basically, if you have an editor that posts your videos for you. If you have a content strategist, that needs access to your youtube Analytics, you can just press on manage permissions. You can basically go here, click on Manage Permissions and add whomever you want to your channel and give him limited Access You can give him full access to your youtube channel or you can just give him access to only view, the number of your youtube views to only be able to upload videos but not edit them. But I want to go in depth about that. And now for community, community is basically, live streams only. You can add moderators to monitor your live stream chat. You can add approved users. Those are users who are going to skip through the youtube check for spam comments and curse words. You can also hide users of youtube channels those users will not be able to show on your comments section they can write comments, but they won't show for other subscribers. You can also add a channel for your live redirects basically if a YouTube channel is going to direct its live stream to your live stream, you can add the channel name right in here. You can also block words from your chat or your comments. Basically, if someone says a curse word in your comments, you can just, you can just blacklisted from your comments section and your live stream chat. You can also block viewers from adding links to your comments section or adding links to your live stream chat. Default is basically the same as the one I showed you before and I wouldn't miss with the agreements. There is nothing to edit or optimize right there, and that was your youtube settings. I will see you in the next lesson. 5. Uploading : Descriptions, Titles: Now we're going to move on on how to upload videos to your youtube channel. how to edit your videos list to your youtube channel you have how to add thumbnails to your videos. How to add end screens to your videos, how to trim out parts of your videos and remove them from YouTube. First of all, how to upload videos to your youtube channel. From the top right, you will click on create, click on upload videos, and you will select the file you want to upload. Let's say I wanted to upload this file. I will select it then, 00:00:27.180 --> 00:00:29.145 After you select the file you want, you can upload a thumbnail from down there. The thumbnail of your video is basically the image you see on your homepage before you click on the video. A thumbnail is basically an eye grabbing simple Image that describes Your video. I will click on upload thumbnail and just upload some random image over thumbnail I made before. Now after you have selected the thumbnail of your video, you can edit the title of the video, Tutorial on how to dress up. Now you can edit the description of your video. I would recommend that the first The two lights are a short description of the video followed up by a short paragraph, that describes the video in detail. And if someone search on your video with a keyword that is in your description, your video might rank first when it suggested to him. Now if we go down, you can find if you want to add your video to a playlist, but we'll get into play list later. You can select if your video is made for kids. If you have a sponsor in your video, you are required legally check this box to say that you are paid to promote a product. You should disable automatic chapters, but we will get into them later. You can add tags to your video. tags are going to help with youtube search and your video ranked first in youtube search. But it doesn't matter that much. compared to the description and your title so just add keywords that describe your video gaming, video games, minecraft, some key words that describes the content of your video. Now you can select the video language of your video, your video location. Don't miss with the caption certification and the standard youtube license, they are some legal options you will find shortest sampling. Shortest sampling is basically allowing people to cut parts of your video and upload them as short form content on youtube, I would allow people to sample this content because if someone trimmed part of your video and posted it and that video got tons of views. You will get some of that views to your youtube channel. Now for is the category of your video. You should select if your video is comedy, entertainment, film and animation but it doesn't matter that much when it comes to views and impressions So, just don't stress about it. You can choose if you want to allow all comments or hold potentially inappropriate comments. like if someone said a curse word in your comments, you can hide this comment from other viewers on your youtube channel. And you can choose if you want, your comments sorted by top, which is most liked comments come first or the newest comments show up first. You can also choose if you want to show how many viewers liked this video, which is basically decide the Like button You will find the number of people who liked your video. You can choose if you want to hide this number or showing all of these settings you can edit later in the youtube studio. And we will get into that in this same lesson. Now, if you pressed on next, you will find video elements, you can add an end screen to your video, which is basically, and then this screen element is basically, like a video, You want to recommend the viewer to go watch next, after the one he is watching right now, you can recommend your channel for him to click on it. And subscribe to your channel, you can add a channel of your friends and you can edit all that stuff. You can set that the duration of the subscribe button to show later in the video. You can also resize every end screen element for end screens, I would recommend that you just recommend another video. Don't jam out, a lot of end screen elements or the viewer might not even click on any one of them. just stick with one. After that, you can click on Save and it will save the end screens you selected and in future uploads you can click on import from video, and you will choose a previous video that you want copy the end screen elements of that one to this new one. So basically, I clicked on this one. It will copy the end screen elements I choose for that video. on this new video with the same duration. You can add cards to your video, but it has been shown that cards are not healthy for the youtube algorithm. Because it distracts the viewer and might end the watch time session, he is currently on. But if you wanted to add cards, you can add a card before a video you want to suggest the viewer to go watch next, you can suggest a playlist, you can suggest a channel of someone in the video that you want to recommend his channel. His channel for your viewers to go subscribe to. Like I can just click on video and recommend one of my videos to my viewers somewhere during my video? So that they go and watch the video. I recommended later on, during the video, there is a missing here. If you are a youtube partner, you will find another page the other page is monetization. You can select if you want to enable monetization to your video or not, I would recommend you enable monetization to your video. You will find all sorts of ads. I will check all of them. And if your video is longer than 8 minutes, you can click on manage Mid-Rolles. And you can select the place where you want your ads to be shown during the video? you can add Mid Rolls, to your video which is basically, ad breaks during your video. You can just press on ad break, it will add another add to your video and you just can drag it and drop it wherever you want during your video. I wouldn't jam out ads during, 00:05:35.240 --> 00:05:37.040 my video. The video is 8 minutes. I will stick to three ads. If the video is 15 minutes, I would stick to 6 ads, which is basically an ad every three minutes also. I wouldn't go further than that. After you are done setting your ads up, you will click on Continue and it's saved. You'll also find Ad suitability. Ad Suitability is basically if your video has inappropriate language or adult content or violence. you can select the option if your video has any sort of this stuff and youtube will limit ads on your video, this feature basically limits the effort youtube has to go through to check each video individually. So, youtube just trusts your options. Make sure you don't Misguide youtube or they won't Care about your rating and if they don't care about your rating. Your reviews for your videos to be published with monetization, turn it on, will take way longer. So just fill out this form truthfully, and if there is nothing of that in your videos, just click on none of the above and click on Submit Rating. Now for checks, checks, basically, checks if any copyright issue, if you are using a material that is not permitted to you to use. if there is no issue you will find this screen, but if there is a copyright material in your video, you will see this screen and you click on See details to manage the copyright issue. But we'll get into that in another lesson. And now you can press on next and choose if you want to publish your video right now or make it private. Private, no one can view it unlisted. Unlisted, anyone with the link of the video can view it without the link, he can never find. I know the private videos with or without the link. He can never watch your video. I would suggest that you select the schedule, schedule. Basically, you select this. You want your video to view automatically published by youtube, just select a time. were your viewers are awake Maybe at like 10 am, select the date, you want your video to be published. And you can also check set as premiere. if you check set as premiere they will get a notification of your video 30 minutes before it's posted for them to go and wait for your video to be posted. But I wouldn't recommend that option. It won't help your video get views. or anything of that. It will send 2 notifications instead of one, so, it might annoy your viewers. So, I will just stay away from that setting. Now press on schedule And you are good to go. Now, let's say you have uploaded your video. You can just click on your video. You will find all those settings for you to change and edit again. And you'll also find Analytics directed at your video. How many views have your video gotten? What is the watch time of your video? But we will get into analytics in another lesson. You can also find your editor. You can also check your comments from here. You can add subtitles, but we'll get into subtitles later, in another lesson and that's it you will find the title you want to change it, the description. You can also change the thumbnail of your video, add it to a playlist mess around with all the settings of the youtube Studio, you can change the visibility of your video if you want the video to become private after you have posted already. And now for the final part of this lesson, in this list of youtube videos you have, you can sort by date. You can also sort by how many viewers of your video has gotten. You can change the visibility of your video from right around here. You can see how many likes versus dislikes your video have gotten. You can also go to any one of your videos by just hovering the mouse around it and you will find the view on youtube. You'll also find if you want to check your comments, your analytics, if you want to edit the details of your video. You can also select a couple of videos and you can delete them. You can also, if you clicked on the three dots on any video of yours, you can download your video to your device again you can also filter your videos by keywords, by visibility, you can select a couple of videos and mass edit those videos. You can mass change the title of them or mass. edit the description, or the visibility status of them. And also, if you have a lot of videos, you can scroll down and choose to show 50 videos per one page of list. And you can scroll through the next page which is basically the previous videos before the current 30 ones. And you can just go through your entire library of videos from here. You can also find from up here. You can find your previous live streams, that you have posted on your channel and you can edit them as well. You can find your posts that you have posted in the community tab of your youtube channel, which is basically this part of your youtube channel you can edit those posts that you have posted before, and that's it for this lesson. I will see you in the next one. 6. The Youtube Editor: In your editor, you can trim out parts of your video. Let's say I wanted to trim this part out. I will click on trim, Then I will click on split, and I will drag it to the part, I don't want in my video, I can even drag the sides and cutoff part of the beginning of my video. And after I'm done, I will click on Preview, then I will save the video with the cutting, I just did. You can also blur parts of your video. I would go with custom blur. Custom blur doesn't require any effort from youtube, it is basically a box that you drag on the part you want to blur, but face blur is going basically, take a visit in your video and try and blur the face you want to blur, but it's going to be a bit scaff. So, I wouldn't go with this blur. You can also add audio to your video. You can add music to your video. You can select the place you wanted, you can trim it, you can add it. You can do whatever you want. You can also add your end screens and cards from here. And whatever you do, whatever you trim, you can always go back. You can always go back to the previous version of your video. So don't worry if you trim a part and you decided you want it back, you can just revert to original and that part will come back normally. 7. Quick Intro To Youtube Analytics: And now to the important analytics that youtube gives you about your videos, this is a quiet complex topics. So, it will be divided into multiple lessons. The first one is this one where I show you, which lesson you should watch and which lesson have which information. The two lessons after this one are going to be about average view duration, which is AVD, and click-through rate, which is CTR average view duration and click through rate, are to be considered the two most important youtube metrics ever. The next two lessons, will be covering them. And the next two lessons will be from my previous course on how to grow on your youtube channel. That course explains them perfectly. So that's why I'm taking the two lessons from that course. And sticked them in this course. The lesson after those two lessons, is basically going to be a tour of the youtube studio analytics. I'm going to show you what each button does and where is every metric. And the one after them, which is going to tell you how to compare your videos to each other. By comparing your videos to each other, you will find which ones have gotten the most views. And why they have gotten the most views. So that you can study those buttons and take notes on what makes a really good video for your viewers. and the few lessons after those lessons are going to go in depth about each metric of the youtube analytics. So basically, the next seven lessons are going to be covering the youtube Analytics part of the youtube studio. That's it for this lesson. And I will see you in the next one. 8. Average View Duration Explained: What is average view duration? Average view duration is how much time on average people spend watching your video. Average view duration is how hooking your videos are. How engaging your videos are. The higher the average view duration, the higher your video ranks competitors a competition, the more views you will get. How to find average view duration. Your average views percentage, and your watch time Basically, you are in the youtube studio, you click on content, then you make any video you want, and click on it. then you go And click on Analytics. then you go and click on engagement Now that you are in engagement. You will find your watch time over here. You will find your average view duration over here and also, if scroll down you will find your average view duration over here. And the average percentage viewed. Those are the most importantly metrics when it comes to judging how hooking your videos are. let say that 10 people decided to watch your 10-minute video. 5 of them, watched for 5 minutes. And 5 of them, watched for 7 minutes, that will make the average view duration 6 minutes, average view percentage. If your average view duration is 6 minutes, and your video is 10 minutes. Then the average view percentage is 60%. Watch time. Watch time is basically the total minutes all the viewers spent watching your video. I personally look at only average view duration and average view percentage. to judge my video. 3 things I look at, When I'm trying to read the retention curve. Basically, I look at the depth. If the retention graph is going like this then suddenly it drops. I will go there and try to find out what's wrong and learn from it. So over here the retention is at 68%, then it drops down to over at 63%. I will go there and note down what went wrong. The other thing I will go for the retention graph is I will go at the ending of the video and try to find out how many people actually sticked to the ending of the video. This video is 8 minutes and the average view percentage is at 20%. Which is not ideal at all. It should be about 40% or 50% from that. I know that I should put more effort into making my videos hooking next time. The third and last thing I look at, I go at the first 30 seconds of the intro and I tried to find how many people... if there is like 70% or 80%... if after 30 seconds of the video. There are 70% or 80%. then my intros are hooking enough for me. Those are the three things I look at when I try to read my retention graph. But Gamica, what AVD is a good AVD like CTR my answer is always going to be higher. Increasing your AVD is making more hooking videos and engaging videos. I'm pretty sure you can never not want to improve on that. AVD is also relative. It changes depending on the niche of your content, the age of your audience, like tutorials, for example, most of the time you skip through tutorials and leave when you get the information you need 00:02:52.820 --> 00:02:54.560 leading to a lower average view duration. And now you're asking me what average view duration I should aim for. That is like me asking you, what amount of money do you wish to be in your bank account right now? Definitely want to have $100,000 instead of $1000. Definitely you want to have $1,000,000 instead of $100,000. The answer is always going to be more. The more you increase your average view duration, the more views you will end up getting. So, it's all up to you. If you want more views working on your average view duration, that will lead to you getting more views. Hopeful you learned something new. and I will see you in the next lesson. 9. Average View Duration Tips: On this lesson, I will try to give you some of the most important audience retention tips and tricks. I learned the hard way as a youtuber. Music is always much better than dead silence. Make sure the music is just music with no vocals, so that the viewers don't get distracted by the voice of the singer*. Make sure the music isn't anyway, near as loud as your voice, so that people can probably hear you and understand you. which is basically adding text on the screen with every few sentences, you say is a real game changer. It can easily grab the viewer's attention. It can help your videos. If your mic's quality isn't that good. After you finished recording, you can record some A-Roll footage, which is basically you talking to the camera and trying to storytell everything that happened to you during the video. Then mixing that with the footage you shot during the video. One of the things that can really damage your audience retention is clickbait in the thumbnail or the title, but Gamica how can the packaging of your video hurt the audience retention? Well, If you give expectations in your thumbnail, then not deliver on it right away. the viewers will immediately leave leading to an audience retention that looks like something like this, all of the viewers left at the intro. I'm pretty sure you don't want that. So don't clickbait. If it doesn't add to the story of the video, cut it out. It is better less than much in creating a video. Just make sure you don't cut too much where the audience are confused where you are currently or how you got there? pattern breaks are basically, this was a pattern break. You are more focused now. but make sure there is a reason for the pattern break. I usually do pattern brakes, when there is a funny comment, I want to highlight. So, I cut up the music. He focuses on what I'm about to say. I say the funny comment. He laughs, the music continues. which is having more energetic, louder voice. Being hyperactive on camera, having tons of hand gestures and facial expressions, more camera confident, more engaging as a youtuber, Practice using your hand. when you are trying to speak to the camera think of your face as a monitor, That is showing every feeling that you are having in the current moment. SCREAM!, every now and then during filming, raise the pitch of your voice. When filming, it definitely helps a lot. Then mix them all together and keep them in mind every time you are filming. Do you prefer staring at a picture for ten minutes or a moving video, filled with cuts that is action backed? You can mix your videos with some greenscreens* and effects. Try and make some visual changes every now and then during your video so that the viewer, stays hooked. You can try zooming in every once in a while just make sure it isn't too much keep the video moderately paced. Not too fast, not too stiff. Hopeful you Learned something new, and I will see you in the next lesson. 10. Click Through Rate Explained: What is click-through rate? What is a good click-through rate? How to use click-through rate. Packaging your videos, consists of three main aspects. The idea, the title and the thumbnail. Click-through rate is a metric that can measure how optimizing the packaging of your videos is. While you are in the youtube studio press on content, then choose, any video you want and click on it. The go and press on analytics. then go and click on reach. You will find your impressions, you will find your impressions click-through rate which is CTR. You will find your views as well. Impressions is how many times your video has been shown to potential viewers. Views is how many times those potential viewers decided to click and become actual viewers. Click-through rate or CTR. Is views divided by impressions. Let's say your video has been shown to a 100 people. That's a 100 impressions. Five of them decided to click. Then those are five views from 100 impressions. Then your CTR is 5%. The higher CTR gets, the higher your video ranks compared to the competition on youtube. The more impressions you get, the more views you get. But Gamica, what is a good click-through rate CTR is relative, changes depending on the niche of your content, entertainment, education, gaming, will what game? What is the age of your audience? Gender, demographic. how long is a video? You don't like click on one hour YouTube videos as much as 30 second ones, right? Which means lower CTR for longer videos, what is a good click-through rate? My answer is always going to be higher.. increasing your CTR is making more hooking thumbnails. I'm pretty sure you can never not want to do that. Asking me what CTR you should aim for is basically like me asking you what amount of money you wish to have in your bank account. Like it's always gonna be more. You got 10% CTR that's nice. You've got 20% CTR. That's even more nice. You manage to somehow get 30% CTR that is even, even more nice. There is no magical number for your CTR to get views. The more increase your CTR the more the views will increase. It all depends on you. How much views you want to get like, like, I don't know what you want from me, like... How to use click-through rate. I would only use CTR to A/B test thumbnails. A/B testing thumbnail is basically having more than one thumbnail concept for a video. Posted the video with the first thumbnail. Giving it some time. Then switching to a different thumbnail concept and seeing how that one performs. Compared to the other one, then settling down with the one that has the higher CTR. Okay, now how to A/B test thumbnail? Let's see, you just posted this video. Let's say you are using this thumbnail concept and you decided to change it to this. thumbnail concept. You were at 7 am. at 10% CTR then, at 8 am you are over 13% CTR that mean your CTR increased by changing the thumbnail. Then you should stick with the thumbnail you just changed that cause it to go to 13%. But let's say at 9 am, you decided to make another switch and you found that your CTR dipped down to 10%. Then you should change back to the thumbnail you were originally on, that caused it to get to 13%. Hopefully you learned something new. And I will see you in the next lesson. 11. Thumbnail Creation Tips: How to optimize your thumbnails for maximum views? I will give you simple tips that you can apply to your thumbnails to optimize them for the youtube algorithm and some psychological tips to help you better understand thumbnail's performance and how to make the best thumbnail as possible Use only 0 to 2 words per thumbnail A really good thumbnail, explains itself without the need of text. the viewer usually scrolls through and give thumbnail less than a second, in which time he won't be able to read your five lines of text. So, make sure your thumbnails has 0 to 2 words in the thumbnail, Zoom Out zoom out your thumbnails when you are trying to see if it looks good or not. Remember that youtube scales down your thumbnail in lots of different areas only. Simple Fonts. I found a lot of new youtubers using good-looking fonts. They actually look quite amazing. But all of that, comes at the price of ease of reading. Make sure you use really simple, easy to read bold fonts. You will find that the biggest youtubers like MrBeast only use white font with black stroke in there thumbnails, that is if they even use text in their thumbnails. Youtube Dark Mode. 82.7% of all phone users are using dark mood. that means for your thumbnails, if the background is black or dark, They might not notice your video because it blends in with the youtube dark mode What I recommend is the use of white backgrounds. It stands out a lot amongst other videos, especially on youtube dark mode. Limit to three objects per thumbnail. Don't overcrowd your thumbnail was lots of objects. Just limit to three objects per thumbnail for example, a face, some text And an intriguing picture. Some text, an arrow and an intriguing object. Try to tell just one story, per thumbnail. Even if much more happens, telling one is better than him scrolling through. and not clicking on your video. Timestamp. A lot of new youtubers forget about this but there is a huge timestamp in the right bottom corner, that covers a huge chunk of your youtube thumbnail. You need to always keep that in mind because any text or materials in the right corner of a youtube video's thumbnail will be covered Face = Emotion. I see a lot of youtubers use just a good looking picture of them in the thumbnail. 00:02:05.560 --> 00:02:06.595 That's okay. But I would recommend using a pictures that conveys emotion, that tells the story. You can just go with something like this. It stands out a lot amongst other videos. Red arrows and Red Circles. Use red arrows. Just don't overuse them. If they are used correctly they can do a lot, but don't look at it as red arrow equals high CTR. If you point at something that is not intriguing or doesn't cause curiosity, then you might just be misguidance the viewer, use them. If there is a really intriguing object in your thumbnail, that can tell a story. Plan the thumbnail before planning the video. I see a lot of youtubers wait before they hit the Publish button to start coming up with a thumbnail of the video, make sure to come up with the thumbnail concept before started working on the video. If you can't come up with a thumbnail concept that you think actually fits the video then, scrap this video idea and try to work on the next video. Drama text, try your best to make sure the text you add to thumbnail actually offers value. And add to the story. Explaining the video's idea is the title's job. Add what I call drama text. This video is called overnight in an abandoned ghost town. you have this is what you can add text, what can you add? Maybe you can add Scary, abandoned ghost town overnight or something like that. But what Ryan Trahan ( The Creator ) did is he added no laws, which added to the story, which explains that it is not just to only an abandoned Ghost town. But there is also no laws in this town. Make sure your thumbnail make the viewer ask a question. if he asks a question then he will need an answer. How badly will he need that answer? Depends on how good your video actually is. I wonder what happens in the end. there is no way they actually did that. I always wondered what would happen if I did that. if you can't think of a question then don't make this video idea, try to improve on it or move on to the next one. WouldYou.Click There is a website called WouldYou.Click you can go there, write down your title and upload your thumbnail. And it will automatically apply it to youtube templates and show you how it looks compared to other competition on youtube. You should go and give it a look. which photo editing software to use? I personally use Photoshop, but remember, the thumbnail concept is more important than the execution. I would rather you having an viral thumbnail concept executed on the default windows paint app rather than a not that, intriguing thumbnail concept executed on Photoshop, go with whatever photo editing software you might like, just go with one and start improving on your thumbnails... hopeful you learn something new. And I will see you in the next lesson, 12. Youtube Analytics Tour: Now, we'll get to the deep stuff. Now we are going to go through the analytics of your YouTube videos and your youtube channel. First of all, views, which is the number of views your videos have gotten. Watch time, which is basically, how many time all the viewers have. spent watching your video, subscribers, which is basically how many subscribers you have gotten through that entire period or on that single video you have chosen your estimated revenue, which is basically how much money you have made through that entire period you or that video you are clicking on you will also find Reach, Reach is basically going to tell you how many time your video has been shown, how many times people have clicked on your video when it has been shown to them, one of the most important youtube metrics are impression click-through rate. Unique viewer is basically if a single viewer watched, three videos of yours, it will show up three views, but it will only show up as one unique viewer. Now we move on to the next part of. Reach. 00:01:00.380 --> 00:01:03.440 You can find here your traffic sources, but we will get into traffic sources in another lesson. And this part is basically a summary of how many impressions you have gotten and how many views from those impression you have gotten, and much time you have gotten from those views, from those impression. And if I didn't explain yet, Impression is basically how many times your video has been shown to a viewer. Like if you go on the youtube homepage and you find your video, but you didn't click on it. that is 1 impression, but 0 views. And in the rest of the page you will find a breakdown of the traffic sources. Now go to the next page, which is basically engagement. You will find your watch time and your average view duration, which is one of the two most important youtube metrics. If you scroll down, you will find your audience retention. You will find your top videos ranking by how many hours each video have gotten. Your top playlist your top videos and all of that staff. You will also find your top cards. What cards you have gotten in your videos have gathered the most clicks. And what end screen elements on your video have gathered, the most clicks as well. Now the audience page is going to be a topic. For another lesson, So we'll move on to the revenue part. And that's going to be also a topic for another lesson. And we will move on to the research bar. The youtube studio analytics. If you are struggling to come up with youtube video ideas, you can come here and search a term, maybe I want to search a term like, how to put on makeup. I will find search terms that other users around the world are typing into the youtube search. And I can pick up a few ideas along the way. You can also find what your viewers have been searching. If there is a common topic, they have been searching recently, you can make a video about that, but if you go to my profile on Skill share, you will find a course dedicated on how to come up with video ideas. I would highly recommend checking this video out if you are struggling to come up with the videos ideas that can go viral. Now if we go back to overview from the right, you can find your life count, which is basically your subscribers count and it's live updating. You can also from the top right corner click on advanced mode. I know it's gonna be a bit overwhelming, but you don't need to come here pretty much. There is another lesson on how to compare your videos to each other. I would recommend watching that one, but we'll go through the advanced mode really quickly. You can find the traffic sources, of how many views are getting from each source? You can click on Geography and understand where most of your views are coming from. The age, the gender, the date and from the top right corner. You can click the certain period of time. You want your analytics to show up at like this my views for the previous 28 days, I can just select it and select last 90 days. And it will show me my video's performance for the last 90 days, the response of metrics here. And you can filter your videos by many metrics like watch time impression, the impression click-through rate, and tons morel metrics. But that's about how much I will cover in this video about the advanced mode. Most of this is going to be curiosity. Where, where is my viewers leave, how old is my viewers? How many of use is a video getting per hour. They are metric that won't help you grow, but it's going to feedn't your curiosity. Basically, so I want to go in depth about the youtube studio advanced mode, and all of those same metrics you will find, an each one of your uploads. Like if I click on this video basically and go to Analytics, I will find those same exact metrics, my reach, my engagement, my audience, and that's it for this lesson. I will see you in the next one. 13. Analyzing Video Performance: And now what I consider to be one of the most important uses of the youtube studio, which is basically comparing your videos to each other. If I go to Analytics, then I click on Advanced mood, then I click on compare to, then I choose video performance in first 24 hours, that will basically, compare the performance of my previous videos in the period selected of there performance in the first 24 hours. That way, I can easily sort by impression click through-rate and it will show me which videos scored higher in terms of click-through rate, I can select average view duration and it will show me which videos of mine. my viewers really enjoyed watching, like this one. It got like eight minutes average watch time. My viewers really enjoyed this one. But if we sorted by impression click through rate, we will find that this one really attracted, my viewers to click on it. If you come to study in this page, you might find some patterns for the perfect youtube video for your own viewers. You can sort by views, you can sort by impressions. You can sort it by the average view percentage and you can change the period from first 24 hours, to just first 7 days, to just first 28 days, I can sort by impressions click-through rate. Basically, I will find that this video has higher click-through rate. Why? I will tell you why the reason is this video has higher click-through rate is because I basically collabed with another popular youtuber in my community, That's a really good point. I should write it down. Okay, why this video has higher click-through rate? Oh, I see. This video has a really intriguing title and intriguing thumbnail. oh, intriguing titles and thumbnail drive lots more traffic. I should write this down. This is how you study this screen to basically learning new things and improve on your content. Maybe I should sort by average view duration oh, this video has, higher average view duration. Why? Oh, I know why. This video has like 20 different clips. It's basically like a combination of Met rain, TikTok tricks. so, it's very fast based Oh, so fast based, content earns more average view duration. Oh, I should write this down. I feel like you are starting to get me. Basically, you come here and look for patterns and understanding. You can write it to apply to your videos in the future. Why does that video has higher click-through rate? Why does that video has higher average duration, sometimes you will find some patterns that you can note down, that will really help you grow and improve on your content. So, if you want to optimize your videos, if you want, study youtube algorithm this is the best location for you to do so and you should keep searching for pattern. That's it for this lesson. And I'll see you in the next one. 14. Analyzing Traffic Sources: Now we're going to move on to how to understand your traffic sources. Basically, if I selected any one of my videos, then I clicked on analytics, then I clicked on reach, then I clicked on traffic source type, and I pressed on see more don't get overwhelmed by this page. I will explain everything. If I scroll down, I will see many traffic sources. What's interesting about traffic sources is that each one of those sources has its own click-through rate and its own average view duration. Let's go through them one by one. External, external is basically if you share the link of your video outside of the youtube system on whatsapp, on Instagram, on Facebook, that views will count to external, direct or unknown is basically, the same thing. Channel pages is basically, people going to your youtube channel and click on your video from your youtube channel, which is basically something like this Me going to my youtube channel, then clicking on the video, now that counts as a view from channel pages, end screen is basically people finishing my youtube video, then clicking on the end screen at the end of my youtube video, YouTube search is basically, people going on youtube and searching for my youtube video. And after they find it and click on it, that counts the view from youtube search, browse features. is Basically, people scrolling through the youtube homepage and finding your video by random chance. Suggested videos is basically, people clicking on any youtube video and finding your video beside that one in the youtube, suggested section. views from playlists, like if I were to search for math playlist. If I clicked on this playlist, any views throughout this playlist is going to count to youtube playlists views. like if I sorted by click-through rate, you will find that my videos scored higher on channel pages in terms of CTR but scored lower on browse features, you will find that my average view duration in channel pages is higher than my average view duration in browse feature. So basically, if I outsourced, my videos and spammed it in Facebook groups and in WhatsApp groups and my video got a lot of views. But most of them clicked in the beginning of video and didn't watch the video till the end. That mean that my average view duration for external sources will be extremely low. But it won't affect my video from getting suggested or showing up in the browse feature. So, every traffic source is part of its own. Each one has its own average view duration and it's on click-through rate. I will find that video of mine performing pretty well. it got like 20000 views for my channel. That's pretty good. But if we look closely, we will find that most of those views, from the browse features from the channel pages externals or end screens, but the suggested videos has only like 500 views. So that means that this video is really well-made for my personal viewers. But maybe it is not that broadly appealing for new viewer, maybe it's a video that my audience enjoys, but it's made for only my hardcore fans basically. So, I should work on that the next time. Maybe in the start of the video I showed it to deduce myself. Maybe I should simplify the activity I am doing in this video. And if we sort by average view duration, we will find that notifications has the highest average view duration because they are my hardcore fans will find that suggested has the lowest average view duration. so that confirms my theory that my videos aren't, broadly appealing to new viewers so I should work on that. I should simplify my videos more. And if we sorted by impressions click-through rate, we will find the same thing. That mean that my title and thumbnail are only made for my community, The people who understand me, they will understand what the video is about after seeing the title and thumbnail, but new viewers might not necessarily know what the video is actually about. So, I see is that this video, not being broadly appealing enough is what caused this video to not get new viewers to my channel. And you should always do that. After posting a new video, you should go and look at your traffic sources and know what cause this video to get tons of views. And what causes it to flop? You can come here and study your traffic sources and you might find some differences for you to optimize your video. That's it for this lesson. I will see you in the next one. 15. Analyzing Audience Data: Now, into understanding your subscribers, if you clicked on analytics, then you go on audience. You will find all the data that youtube has about your audience, unique viewers, as I explained before, if a viewer watched three of your videos, that will count as 3 views. But just as one unique viewer, That's your subscribers and that's your returning viewers. Now, to not get complicated, returning viewers is basically the purple line, is your returning viewers. return viewers Is basically viewers that watched one of your videos, and after a while, watched another and they, keep coming back to your channel to watch more and more and more. The more addictive your videos, are, the higher this number goes, and the new viewers line, which is the blue line, shows how many new viewers came to your youtube channel in the previous period. Like basically some people want to get that purpal line above the blue line, but that blue line is your new viewers, is your new subscribers. So why would you put this above this? Like I find that this metric feeds into your curiosity or acts like a wake-up call, basically, for you to start improving your videos. But there is not much that you can do with it to help your channel grow. If you scroll down, you can find when your audience is active, I find that most of my viewers are active at about 10 pm. So, I'm going to post my videos on fridays at 10 pm. That way, i will get the most views in the first 24 hours of videos publishing. But overall, the time of posting your video doesn't really matter in the long run if you posted it, right here or posted it right here. If the video deserves to get views in the long run. It will give views either way. I haven't been uploaded for a while on this youtube channel so there are not enough eligible audience data to show this report, but basically other channels that your audience watches is going to show you youtube channel, upload content similar to your content style, this is a really good chance for you to make collaborations with those youtubers, because if there is a fan of both of youtube channel, and his youtube channel and so you both together in a video the average view duration will be extremely high and the click-through rate will be extremely high. so, try and the Collab was other channels that your audience watches. You will also find other videos that your audience watches. This is a really good source for you to come up with video ideas that has a really good chance of your viewers, liking them, you will also find top geographies, which is basically where is most of the views ti your channel coming from. You will find watch time from subscribers. If you find that you're not subscribed is far more than your subscribe. Then I will work on mentioning my viewers to subscribe my youtube channel. But if I found that my subscribed is far more than my non subscribed. I wil work on improving my videos, increasing my average view duration increasing my click through rate because youtube isn't recommending my videos as much to new viewer. And you will also find age and gender of your youtube viewers. You'll also find subscriber bell notifications, which is basically how many viewers of your channel activated the small bell icon besides the subscribe button. And how many of them are actually, getting notified of your videos. And that's it for learning about your audience. And I will see you in the next lesson. 16. How I Study Analytics: Now we're going to move on on how to use a YouTube's to do to optimize your videos for the YouTube algorithm, I'm going to show you what metrics I look at and what metrics I choose to ignore because they won't actually hear me my YouTube career out. First of all, in the YouTube dashboard, you will find the Rankin out of loss it in videos. I personally don't care about this metric. I mean, if you want to success for only the neck is too weak, you can look at this metric but if you want, but I'm not success. Applause this for years, this metric isn't zone for you, isn't it shows you how with this video performance loss they didn't videos, but I want to see your muscle performance. How's this monster? But for metals and then monsters before it, like I found that they do algorithmic fix pretty easily by is a sort of view model, is a topic you are reacting to in the video, like this number can easily fluctuate. It is not a metric that you can use to measure your success. Basically, I don't care about anything in this page. If we go to Analytics difference, the thing I look at is my views in the last 48 hours and which videos are awesome because it gives me an estimate if series of videos on my YouTube channel that are delivering the basic views to my YouTube channel to help it grow. It is like a video here that is off topic for my current UT views, I will definitely go and make that video where I await because if Z value is currently off topic for my current the content, it will derive views that don't decay or about my current the content. After I look at z, I go to my audience debate. Some people try and use the returning viewers symmetric, but I find that it doesn't really help us much because it compares between two metrics, Zafar, both **** would you like basically some people want to get that verbal line above the blue line, but that blue line is your new view orders is your new subscribers. So why would you want this above this like hyphens as this metric feeds into your curiosity, Order acts like a wake-up call, basically for you to start improving your videos. But zeta is not much is that you can do with it to help your channel group. The other thing I look at is other channels that your audience watches and the other videos that your audience watches from other videos, I can get inspired of video ideas that can get really good traffic to my channel. And this other channels are channels you might have a chance to collab with. But if I am going to collab with another creator, it will be for my personal benefit to the, my network of connections, not necessarily to grow my YouTube channel. Because the other thing that I look at is watch time from subscribers. If I found that subscribed is far more than non subscribe, I need to make serious changes to start really working hard on improving my content or even diverting and change it to another topic that might be more popular and I can get some traffic from Z. Now the thing I look at is comparing my videos to each other, which I show you in a previous lesson. If I go to Advanced it mood, then I click on compare to this. Nh2 is the formants interest to 24 hours. I can sort by embracing the click-through rate. Basically, I will find that this video has higher click-through rate. Why? I will tell you why. The reason this video has higher click-through rate is because I basically a colab with another Boobie are EQ. But in my community, That's a really good point. I should write it down. Why is this video has higher click-through rate? Oh, I see. This video has a really intriguing title and intriguing some Neil oh, entity with titles and some nail drive, lots more traffic. I should write this down. This is how you study the screen to basically learning new things and improve on your content. Maybe I should sort by average view duration obviously is very high. The higher the average view duration. Why? Oh, I know why this venue has like 20 different Eclipse. It's basically like a combination of Metroid and TikTok tricks, so it's very fast. The beast O, so first step is the content earns more average view duration. Oh, I should write this down. I feel like you are starting to get me. Basically you come here and you look for better understanding. You can write to apply it to your videos in the future. Why does that video has higher click-through rate? Why does that video as well your average duration, sometimes you will find some butter on this is that you can know that wins, that will really help you grow and improve on your content. Now after I've done that, I can go back and click on my content. I can click on any of my videos, maybe just one. Then I go to Analytics Xin, I don't go to reach for me. I don't care at all about click-through rate. Click-through rate like is very, very thin and physical changes are some. Neil can change the click-through rate. I basically changing the topic of z. You are making a video about carrying queries. You'll click through rate or can defeat t If you click through rate, click-through rate for me is very relative. I can to basically learn anything from it, I can work on making my son needs the more attractive on choosing better ideas. But me looking at this graph, there is nothing to learn from here. The next thing I want to look at is engagement isn't I scroll down to my audience retention. I think it says graph is the most important the graph and do where you can find the actual value while making YouTube content. What is this video? I'll can define the actual severe depth z. Maybe zeta is at the introduction of z value. Sometimes if zeta is added benzene through, maybe it's a title and some nail or misleading, but somehow it doesn't have to be the introduction folder I pay if I go back. Zen production is really false. Debates the exhibitions, everything, it takes, all the boxes for me. So I'm proud of it is everyone's, their attention may be a new view of what is coming to my YouTube channel. Maybe as I told you, the viewer is expecting some sort of content flows are veterans, are some Neil and gets delivered somehow what he didn't want to. There is not much learning from that video. That video isn't really well in terms of audience retention, I should work, I should work on my storytelling. I should work on removing all moments from my venue. We can go to another video and maybe we can find the more value from 0. Okay, is this once the retention is actually pretty good, okay, I find the debride here. Why is it that they write 0? Oh, I get it. I get it. In this part of the video, I hired some inappropriate videos from the viewer. So probably he got mad about z. So in the future, I shouldn't even keys and appropriate videos. Susanna, he doesn't feel left out from the video basically. So that's a useful thing to learn and that's what I do. I go back and look at the retention of my videos and I study where the ribs are and they try to take notes if rooms that I find is that most YouTube metrics are basically to feed your curiosity, to teach you how your channels forming button doesn't necessarily help you improve on your content. The ones that I showed you in this little ones is that really can actually make a significant difference in your YouTube career. Another thing you can do is study is a traffic sources of your video. So basically if I go and reach, then I click on See More to see my traffic sources and performance. Our finds is that video of mine performing pretty well. I've got like 20 thousand views for my channel Z is pretty good. But if we look closely, we find that most of those views from the brow is features from this channel Beijing explore nor all the screens, but the suggested videos has only like 500 views. So that means that this video is really well-made for my base. But maybe it is not that broadly appealing for new view, or maybe it's a video that my audience enjoys, but it's made for only my hardcore fans. So I should work on the NIC is time. Maybe in the start of the video, I should introduce myself. Maybe I should symbol for is activity I am doing in this video. And if we sort them by average view duration, we're finds that notifications that has the highest average view duration because they are my hardcore fans will find such transistors has the lowest average view duration to zipCode firms my series at my videos oriented, broadly appealing to new viewers, fly should work on z. I should simplify my videos more. And if we sorted by embracing the click-through rate, we will find the same thing. That means that my title, neil, are only made for my community is that people will understand me. They will understand what the video is about after seeds and some nail. But new viewers might not necessarily know what the video is actually about two ICs as this video not being broadly appealing enough is what caused this venue to not get new viewers to my channel. And you should always do that after boost in a new video, you should go and look at your traffic sources and know what caused this video to get tons of views and what causes it to flog. That's it. And I will see you in the next lesson. 17. Monitization: Okay, now we're going to go through how to understand the monetization part of your youtube career first of all to become partner with youtube is to get part of the youtube revenue comments through the ads on your youtube video. And there is a lot of other features that you can make money through them. If you were a youtube partner, to become a youtube partner, there are basically two requirements you have to meet. First of all, you have to have 1000 subscribers, on your current youtube channel. And second of all, you have to have 4000 hours of watch time on your entire channel in the previous 365 days. So basically, if I go to Analytics, then from the top-right corner, I select last 365 days. This number of watch time has to be 4000 hours. This number of watch time. Basically, if I go back in my calendar, one-year from right now in this period, I must have had 4000 hours of public watch time watch time is basically, the amount of time people all around the world. spent watching your content. These only counts public videos and live streams it doesn't count with youtube shorts. youtube shorts are basically, short vertical videos like TikTok basically, personally, I wouldn't worry that much about meeting the requirements. If you are struggling to meet the 4000 hours of watch time, then you are probably not going to make enough revenue from youtube after you meet that requirement. What I'm trying to tell you is basically 4000 hours is not enough to earn. $50 from the youtube studio. So, if you really want to become a youtube partner focus on making better content. Because if you are struggling to get 4000 hours after you become a youtube partner, you will still be earning pretty much nothing. So focused on making a better content. Don't focus on meeting those requirements. And now after you meet those requirements and you want to become a youtube partner, there will be a button here for you to apply. for your channel review. YouTube will basically reviewed channel if there is if there is any content that doesn't follow the community guidelines of youtube. Most of the time and a couple of hours you'll be ready to go. And after you do that, you have to make a Google AdSense account and link it to your youtube channel. To do that, I recommend watching this video. I will leave a link for this video in the description of this course, this tutorial is basically, made by youtube explaining how to link your AdSense account to your youtube channel. So, I can't explain it better than them, but after you meet the requirements, you'll be delighted with the page like this. The first one is basically an overview that is telling you every bits of information about youtube monetization feature. The next one, which is ads, is basically telling you the results of the form that you fill with every video you upload if there is violence or any sort of staff in your video. The third one is merchandise. If you want to design t-shirts to sell for your youtube viewers and earn a cut from them. Youtube will help you to set the merchandise too. The fourth one is memberships. Memberships, is basically a monthly subscription that the viewers have to pay for your youtube channel to earn a specific perks, like, like live streams that are only available to members of youtube channel, you can set different levels for the memberships, with different perks and different prices. Here is type of perks, you can make exclusive videos for only the members of your youtube channel. You can give them early access to new videos you're about to post, Shout-out your members in your videos, replying to member's comments, playing video games with your members, connecting with them on social media, Instagram and all of that staff. You can give them discounted merchandise if you want, and there's tons of other perks you can make if you activated memberships on your youtube channel. Now we move on to supers. I don't have supers activated on those youtube channels. But supers are basically for live streams, which is basically a donation they can make to your youtube channel. Now if you go into revenue, we will find our RPM and our CPM. You'll find that the RPM is much lower than your CPM, which makes lots of sense because your RPM is how much money you earn. per 1000 views, views. And your CPM is how much money you make, per 1000 monetized views. So basically, if the viewer, watched your video and didn't, get a singular ad. That's just a random view. But if he got at least one ad that counts as one monetized view. You can't really use this metrics to help grow on your youtube channel. It basically tells you how much money you make. The only way to increase your CPM and with that, increasing your total revenue is by making different styles of content. Like basically if I'm making content about cooking or something that will get lower CPM. Then if i making a content about technology and that well get lower CPM. than if I'm making content about money? here is an estimate list on the screen on what CPM for what different niches. If you are yet to start in youtube and you have a couple of niches. You are thinking about making videos about. You can just go here and find what niche actually, has a higher CPM and maybe that can change your judgment. I will leave a link to this article in the description. I will leave a link to this article in the description of this course. that's it for youtube monetization. And I will see you in the next lesson. 18. Copyright Strikes: Okay, now how to deal with copyright strikes? First of all, let's start. There is basically, the copyright guidelines and the community guidelines of youtube they are both very different from each other. I will leave a link in the description for an article you should read on what is the rules you should follow when it comes to copyright strikes and community guidelines strikes. But the strike system is basically, pretty simple for both of the community guidelines and the copyright part of youtube strikes. First of all If you failed to obey the rules of youtube for the first time, you will just get a warning to your youtube channel. That warning is permanent. You will, you will never be able to remove it, but no one else. Will know that you have a warning in youtube channel and it won't affect your views in any sort of way. But if you failed to obey the rules for the second time, you will get your first copyright strike or community guidelines strikes. A strike is not permanent. to only lasts 90 days when you get your first strike. You won't be allowed to post videos on youtube channel for an entire week. If you disobey these rules again, you will get your second copyright strike and you won't be able to post videos on your youtube channel for two weeks. And if you finally, disobeys the rules for the fourth time. you will get your third copyright strike and we both know what happens. Your channel gets permanently deleted, but don't worry, each copyright strike lasts for 90 days. So, if you just didn't disobey the rules for that entire period of 90 days, you will go back to 0 copyright strikes or 0 community guidelines strikes. The community guidelines strikes. And copyright strikes are totally different systems. So, the strikes from the community guidelines and the strikes Zoom Rooms copyrights issues is don't add up. Basically, they are totally different system, but they both have the same punishments. I will leave a link for an article you should read about what are the rules you should follow when it comes to posting videos on youtube, there are three monetization stats. First one is monetized, which is basically for youtube, revenue from your video. Second one is not monetized. that being you disabled the monetization settings on your youtube channel or if there is a copyright issue with your video, then, the one that made the copyright on your video. Will get all the revenue and you will get none of it. Is This video has a copyright claim. A copyright claim is basically, if I didn't own some of the content in my video, like some music or basically, a clip from a movie then he can claim. my video and earn all the revenue coming from my video. The third one is if basically, there is any violence or any guidelines you have intimate in your videos, your videos will be automatically set to limit it. Like if I show you right now, those videos are set to limited. I barely make any money from them. If I have a copyright claim, you can still manage it. You can hover over the copyright claim. Click on See details. You will find that you can press on select action and either, trim out the part that has the copyright issue or replace the audio that is in this part of that video. For me, I have a youtube short. So, if I trimmed out the part or replaced the song The short will absolutely flopped basically like it's going to be five seconds after I trim out this board. But let's say the video with a bit longer like this video like literally three hours. If I pressed on See details and I click on Select action, I can just easily trim out that segment of the video and press on continue and that part of the video will be trimmed out, gone, but I will earn all the revenue coming from my video. Or the other thing you can do is you can click on Replace song. And in that part of that video. just add another song. And it was going to cover the copyrighted part of your video like I can just add this song and set it about the copyrighted part. And I'm good to go. The other option you can do is just mute. The song at that part and press on continue. That's it, for this lesson? and I will see you in the next one. 19. Channel Customization: Okay, Now on to how to customize your youtube channel. If you go to the page of customization, you will find at first that you can add a video spotlight a video spotlight is basically, the video your viewers will see when they visit your channel for the first time or after they press to the Subscribe button, a video spotlight is basically, something like this. After you go to the youtube channel, you will find the video and it will auto play for your viewer. So, I would recommend that you choose a video that your viewers enjoy watching once, twice, three times. The first one is for people that haven't yet to subscribe to your youtube channel. and the second one for returning subscribers who are coming back to your youtube channel. For both, I will just choose a random video from my youtube channel. Now, into feature section, feature sections are basically those sections of your youtube channel. You can customize them like here I have my recent uploads and here I have my other youtube channel. You can just press on add section and you can add past live streams. You can add your most popular uploads. You can add a new playlist. You can add your subscriptions or you can add featured channels, which is basically channels you recommend the viewers to go watch next. And after you add a new section, you can just drag it and drop it and rearrange your section. Now we move on to Branding. In branding, you can change the logo of your youtube channel or the picture of your youtube channel. You can select a new banner image. I will leave a Photoshop project in the description for you to download this Photoshop project has the exact size for you to edit your youtube banner and it will be visible on mobile and desktop with no issues with the resolution. But if you don't have a Photoshop, you can make your banner 3600, by two thousand and the middle part of it, is going to be some thing like 2100 by 600 Stick all the text you want inside this box? Now, we move on to Video watermark. Video watermark is basically, a small logo. Like if I go to a random youtube channel, you will find that there is a small logo down there that has the subscribe button on it. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if you want to add a watermark, you can go ahead and add it. Just make sure it's 150 by 150. The third page you can go through its basic info. Basic info is your channel, name, is the description of your youtube channel. your channel URL. And I think if you are over a 1000 subscribers, you can customize this part of the URL, like if I show you right now, I have my description right here, and I have a custom URL for my youtube channel. I can just copy and paste it and it will automatically go to my YouTube channel. You can also add links. Links are going to show in the bottom right corner of your banners. I would recommend just stricken with one if you added too much, they won't probably click on any of them. So just stick with one link and you can add a link title and the URL of that link, for that links on banner, I would make it first five links. If you made it first link, if we had two links right here, only the first one will show and contact info is really important. Because if there is any brands that want to sponsor your videos or your channel, that is go-to option for them to contact your youtube channel. So, make sure to add an email you are active on right here. for them, It will show in the about section down here you can find your email address and that's it for customizing your youtube channel. I will see you in the next lesson. 20. The Usage Of Chapters: Now how to add chapters to your videos, to add chapters to your videos. is pretty simple. Adding chapters to your videos is basically who define the description of your video. To add chapters your videos, you will just have to edit the description of that same way. You have to start with added 0 two dots above each other. 00 then you press space and add the title. of that part of the video for me, I will add this part of the video is basically, the introduction of the video. Then I will move on. I know that during my video at 1:30 part 1 starts of my video. So, I will leave it that way. And I know at 3:30, part 2 of my video starts then I know that at 7:00, my video ends. So, I will add the outro. and it's that simple. Maybe you can add one right here like 2:30 part one-, all you have to do is start with 0 ,2 dots above each other 00 and stick it anywhere in your description. If I pressed on save, then I will go on my youtube video. I will find that the chapters we just added, have been automatically added to my youtube video and I can easily go through them. that's it for this lesson I will see you in the next one. 21. Starting Youtube Livestreams: Now we move on to how to start a live stream on your youtube channel. First of all, we click on get Started after that we choose if we want to schedule arrival stream for later on during the day or if we want to start a live stream right now, I'll press on start right now, you can choose if you want it to be using your built-in webcam is no complicated settings, or you can choose streaming software. And if you have a streaming software like OBS for example, you can use it to direct your recording to become a live stream. I will leave a link to another video by youtube of how to start a live stream on your youtube channel. It goes in depth on how to set up the stream and software and how to set up the streaming key. So, you should definitely check that out but if we go back to the live streaming page, we are going to click on streaming software. And after that, we can from the top-right corner, edit the details of the live streams the title, the description. It is the visibility, category, thumbnail and all of that staff from customization. We can customize the settings of the live stream chat. And if we go back, you'll find all your complicated stream settings. The most important one of them is basically the stream key. The stream key is a key you get from your live streaming software like OBS, for example, so I would recommend you check the video I left in the description. You can find in the analytics how many views you are currently on, how many messages has been sent the average view duration of any viewer that clicks on your live stream. And you will find your stream health your stream health is basically, how good your Internet connection is. And after you successfully start your live stream you will find here your live stream chat and from the 00:01:32.960 --> 00:01:34.490 top-left corner you can choose the schedule a live stream for a later on during the month. That's it for this lesson, I didn't go in depth about live streaming because it's very complicated. But I will leave a link in the description for tutorial on how to set up your live stream. And I will see you in the next lesson. 22. Managing Youtube Comments: Now ,how to manage the comments of your youtube channel. You can click on any video you can unhearted or heart your comment. heart in a comment is basically given a special like that is coming from the creator of the video to make the commenter feel special. It's a nice thing to do if you are a new creator, I would recommend that you heart all your comments, even leave them alike and reply to all of the same. You can also check held for review, inheld for review you'll find comments that has curse towards the inside of them so that you can reached them and make sure they actually, are spam and not just mis selected by youtube as inappropriate. If we go back to the published comments, if you click on the three dots on any comments of your videos, you can remove the comment. You can report the comment. You can hide that user permanently from youtube channel. He can write comments still. But those comments won't show to other viewers on youtube, you can always approve comments from this user. So, if this user righted an inappropriate comment, it won't go to held for review, it will stay here and published and will be automatically accepted. And you can also add this user as a comment moderator. If we did that, this creator can have access to my comments and managed them, reply to them by name. And if you want to manage the comments of an individual video, you can click on content. And choose the video you want to manage the comments for Then click on comments. You will find the comments for that specific video only from here you can select by top comments or newest comments and you can even pin the comment in the videos, comment sections. So basically, if I clicked on this one, I can pin any comments with the comment pinned here. No matter how many likes it has got, no matter how old the comment is it will always be the first comment. Basically, I would recommend that you write your own comment then pin, your own comment on your own video. And in that comment promote another video of yours. All encourage your viewers to comments on your video. And that's it for comments. And I'll see you in the next lesson. 23. Creating Youtube Playlists: Now, how to make a playlist of your youtube video. You can just click on playlist and go 00:00:05.340 --> 00:00:08.235 from the top right corner and select a new playlist. But what I like to do is go to content, then select the videos. I want to put in a playlist, maybe this one and this one. Then I click on add to playlist and from here, I create a new playlist. Maybe I want to make this one youtube education then you choose if you want it to be visible to your subscribers or if you want it private or unlisted, you just click on create and done. The playlist is already there. You can go back to playlists. You will find it here. If I press refresh and if you want to edit your video to sort your videos by a certain aspect, you can hover your mouse over the playlist click on edit on youtube. From here, you can change the title of the playlist. You can add a quick description to your playlist. You can also click on the three dots, click on playlist Settings. You can add new videos to top of playlist, which is basically if you added a new video to your playlist, they will be automatically dragged to the top of playlist, you can also sort your playlist, by click added, which is basically when your video has been uploaded to youtube or did publish to which is basically when your videos that you uploaded have been published to you. You can also sort it by most popular which is going to vote, which is going to vote the videos with the most views up in the top and descended from there. And that's it. I will see you in the next lesson. 24. Adding Youtube Subtitles: Now how to add subtitles, to your videos, most of the time, you'll always find the languages audio your video if it has been uploaded for quite a while on 2 the 2 is going to be the first one, is the language of your video. The language you are speaking in the video. And the second one is basically, going to be an automatic subtitle generated for your video in the language spoken during the video. So, this is the subtitle for this one. I can just click on Duplicate and edit now it's going to launch. All my subtitles if I click on edit timings, I can just go through them and edit the subtitles to my liking? I can remove words, I can replace words, I can delete an entire subtitle. I can change the duration of a subtitle, and everything I want with it. You can zoom out and zoom in from here to view all your subtitles. You can also download your subtitles if you want to edit them on another program on your pc and you can upload a subtitles file if you have already written one and the timid it perfectly to your video. After you do that, you click on publish and you are good to go if you want to add a translation subtitle to your videos. You can click on the video you want. Click on add language and add the video is you want, maybe I will choose Arabic. I can edit the title and description version of the video in Arabic. And I can add subtitles to my video, but it won't be automatically generated in the new language because it is not the language spoken in the main video, so, we'll have to type it manually. Every single subtitle of your video. And that's it for youtube subtitles. And I will see you in the next lesson. 25.
