1. Introductory Video Thumbnail Course: During the past five
years as a creator, I've created more than
1,000 thumbnails, which have accumulated
tens of millions of use, hundreds of thousands
of subscribers, and more than 80,000
students in my courses. And you know what's the coolest
thing? The only tool that I've ever used to design
my thumbnails was Canva. I never needed to learn
how to use Photoshop or any other of those
sophisticated design tools. And this is exactly what we're covering in this
course right here. In this course, I'm
going to show you how to easily design
Tumils dot work and bring views to your
videos with a very simple and basic,
completely free tool. Canva. So in this Canva
Tumel design mastery course, we're going to be starting
with the theoretical approach on how to design a thumbnail, which thumbnails work, which
thumbnails don't work. And the biggest mistake
that 99% of creators that design thumbnails do that just limit their reach
with their videos. It's a very simple trick that if you apply to your Tamil
creation process, it will completely skyrocket and elevate the convergence
of your Tumail. In the second practical
part of this course, we're obviously launching Canva. We're analyzing every single
photo editing feature of Canva that I'm
going to show you how to edit Tamils from scratch, how to utilize the already
premade designs in Canva, so you can have your way
into creating Tamils faster. And on top of that, if you enroll in the
course right here, you will be given a
downloadable famil template, which pretty much a
plug and play system with the 20 best Tamils currently on social
media that you can leverage for your
contemplation process. On top of the free template list that you're going to be
getting inside of the scores, I will be personally view every single one of the famils that you submit
as a class project. So this is also a great way to connect with me as
your instructor. So now for this introduction
I'm going to see you in the first
lesson of the scores.
2. Thumbnail Psychology: Grab Attention Fast: Ladies and gentlemen, I
would like to welcome you to the first
lesson of the scores. Now, before we fire
up Canva and we start with the practical
aspect of the scores, right, by analyzing literally
everything there is regarding thumbnails and the
practicality of thumbails how to
design thumbnails, the different types
of thumbnails, how to import images, and all of that stuff inside of Canva. I feel like it's very important
for you to understand some basic theoretical
aspects around thumbnails. In this lesson right here, I'm going to elaborating on the whole theory
of thumbnails. Again, after designing
literally hundreds of thumbnails myself and after designing thumbnails
for videos that have got more than 5 million
views per video, and I've done this
multiple times, I can guarantee
you that creating a successful thumbnail
isn't just about applying sophisticated tricks
in your design or spending countless of hours designing
thumbnails, right? It's very important for you to understand the whole
theory of Tumels before firing up
Canva and investing all this time and energy
to learn how to turn, like, anything you
have in your mind regarding thumil
design into a reality. And that's what we're doing
in this sson right here. So I'm very happy
to have you here. Let's start with the
theory of thumbnails. So the theory of thumbnail, now, before we even
start with this lesson, I want you to place your beds and let me know which one of these videos is going to
be more successful, right? Which one of these
videos has more views. So right here, you can see this just bad quality thumbnail of just a dude pointing
at statistics, right? No color grading, no, again, sophisticated thumbnail
tactics, nothing crazy. And then we have the
standard right here, which you can see that he
has replaced the background. He has made TTPa's tennis
player write glow. He has added titles
and all that stuff. Which one of these videos do you think is more successful? The results may shock you
because this video right here has 3.3 million views, and this video right here
has 166,000 views, right? Now, you might be thinking, how is this even possible?
Well, it's very simple. The title is part of
the thumbnail, right? And this is what I did wrong for so many years as a
content creator. I was focusing on thumbnails. And I didn't understand
that the title and the thumbnail are
equally important. A good thumbnail comes
with a good title. You can't have a good thumbnail without having a good title. And that's why in this
thumbnail design course, I actually feel the
need to let you know that even if you're the best thumbnail
designer on planet Earth, if your titles don't match a thumbnails and if they
don't intrigue the audience, you will not you will
not be successful with your videos because the
title is part of the thumil. This is why this video
got 3.3 million views. Because again, in this
slide right here, right, you couldn't see the title of both
of these videos. And it just this photograph, for example, looks out
of context, right? But if you check out
the title, right, you will see that this
video is titled How much you paid me for 1.3
billion views, right? So, in combination
with this title, you can see that the Samel is
actually pretty intriguing. Was this title in combination with the famil
isn't as intriguing, right? So again, which video
is more intriguing? How much do you paid me
for 1.3 billion views? Or we need to talk about
Stefano Sisi Paz, the truth. This video is also
intriguing, right? If you're a niche tennis
player and you know who Stephanopas is, obviously. But this video, this
video is more intriguing. How much you paid me
for 1.3 billion views? So you can see that even a
badly shot and edited image can generate millions of views if combined with the
correct thumbnail, right? And this is like, Part of the thing that I want you to understand from this
session right here. You can learn all famil
design principles. If you don't know how to
design also correct titles, it will not apply to
your videos. So, right? Again, this by itself is a bad, blurry image of a bad video, but combined with this
title, it drives questions. And these questions
that this video, this combination of title
and thumbnail drives can only be solved by
clicking on the video. And that's exactly what we want to be doing with our thumbnails. You see, YouTube works
this way, and in general, every single social
media destination in which you have a
title and a Tamia, this could be a course.
This could be YouTube. This could be other, say, social media platforms
that allow you to have Tamils and titles,
they all work the same way. You need to earn the click. You need to hook the viewers, and you need to
retain the viewers. If you manage to do
these three things, you will literally be the most successful
YouTuber on planet Earth. If you manage to earn the click, so make them click,
make them stay, and then make them stay
throughout the video. These three concepts,
if you manage to understand them and
apply them to your videos, you will have insanely
successful videos. Now, here's the thing. This course right here is about
earning the click, right? We're not going to be
talking about hooking the viewers inside the videos. So we're not discussing about
videography principles, content creation principles. I have multiple other courses that we discuss
about these things. But in this course
right here, we're going to be elaborating
on how to earn the click. And in order to end the click, you need to focus on the
so called TNT, right? The title and thumbnail. You do not earn the click
with just a thumbnail, right? You might earn the click with
just a title spoil hurt, titles are more important
than thumbnails, right. That being said, you don't
need exactly a course on how to title your videos. I might actually do one of
these courses in the future. We'll see about
this. But earning the click isn't
about thumbnails. It isn't about titles.
It is about the TNT. So the combination of the
thumbnail and the title, right? The best produced thumbnail
in the world with a bad title will not perform.
It will underperform. You can have a thumbnail shot with the best cameras
in the world, from the best photographer
in the world with the best graphic
designer design it. If you don't have a good title, it will not perform. The purpose of the TNT is
to spike curiosity, right? Every and thumbnail is
making a promise, right? It's like making a promise to your viewer with your
title and Thumbnail. So let's put this into perspective I want
to understand this. So, for example, let's
see this period here. It's called a week in the Life of a millionaire
in the Middle East. And by the way, Manazi he's one of the most
successful YouTubers. At the moment, he
has earned literally tens of millions of
youths with his videos, and it's the gold standard
right now of YouTube, right? What does this video apply? What does this title
and Tamil apply? It's literally like making a promise to the viewers
that if you click on me, I will show you how a week looks like in the life of a millionaire in
the Middle East. And what you can see here is that he's chilling on a beach. He has this girl
that's looking at him, and this is also part of the marketing of the
Title and Tamil, right? So again, you see exactly the promise that this
video is making. And as a viewer subconsciously, this is what their let's
say weighing, right? Is it worth me clicking
on this video to see what a week in life of a Miller in the Middle East
looks like, right? They evaluate it and they
click or not click, right? For example, this
random video that popped up in my homepage
on YouTube, right? It's like saying, in this video, we'll show you the creator is
saying, If you click on me, if you invest my time
and energy into this, I will show you the loud
turbo sound of a Mini Cooper. It's as simple as that. So imagine we did not
have the title, right? It was just this image
of a Mini Cooper. It's cool, but we don't
have context, right? But with the title and the thumbnail,
you have context now. Next video, right? That's
just a video title how I became the
world's best Dig with only one arm, right? Black coffee. So it's intriguing because it's like it's
saying, If you click on me, I will show you how
the hell I became the best dig in the world
with only one arm, right? So it's intriguing. That's why people click. As simple as that. Here, for example, another
random video that, by the way, has 33 million views, right? It's called why wearing cone shaped metal
hat is a bad idea. The most random video you could have ever
thought of, right? But it's intriguing
viewers are like, Ah. That's an interesting dial. That's an interesting
topic of a video. I want to see it, right? So again, look at the thumbnail. It's not a good thumbnail, but this video has 33 million views. And this is what we're looking
for at the end of the day. We're not looking for having amazing thumbnails
and zero views. We're looking to
drive more cliques to our videos with
our thumbnails. There's a problem here, right? The promise shall be kept or
else the trinity will fall. Earning the click
again, comes down into making promises with our tiles and thumbnails as
we talked about, for example, this ie
I'm gonna show why wearing a cone shaped
metal hat is a bad idea. This I'm gonna show
how the hell he became the best dig in the
world with just one arm. These are promises, right? And guess what? You
make a promise. People are, Okay, cool, let's test it, and they
click on the video. But if you do not
keep this promise, this trinity will fall, right? So check this out with
this mini Cooper video, for example, right, the loud turbo sound of a mini Cooper. Okay, cool. You
earned the click. But if this video is
completely relevant, so if you have the
Samuel, for example, and then the video is a video of me talking about
content creation, you can imagine that
the viewers will not be hooked and they won't
be retained, right? It's as simple as that. The
viewers will not be hooked. The viewers will not be
retained simply because you made another promise and you didn't keep it
throughout the video. And this will obviously
harm your video, and it will not gain more views because this is how the YouTube
algorithm works. It Based on how many people
click on the video, it starts by testing, right, the audiences retention. So how much time
people spend viewing your video or which
percentage of your video is being
viewed by your viewers. And then usually test for 1,000 for the first
thousand viewers. And then if the
statistics that come out of those first
thousand viewers are good, then it keeps promoting
it to more people. That's how the YouTube
algorithm in general works. So you can imagine that
even if you earn the click, if you don't manage to
hook the viewers and return retain the viewers, you're
going to have a problem. Right? And check this out. When the promise you made with your Tinel and
thumbnail is not met, this is called clickbait, right? We've all heard of
Clickbait in general. Clickbaiting is just adding
a very intriguing title, a very intriguing Tumbil then not delivering
with your video. So clickbait is very
bad for your channel. Many people think that
clickbait in general will help with gaining more views and
will help with your channel. It's absolutely not true. It damages your
reputation as a creator. It harms your video
and the statistics of your video because
people, again, click to view the videos, and then they see that the videos are
completely relevant, or at least you're not
keeping your promise, and it just disengages
your audience, which is one of the
worst things that you want to do with your audience. What you want to do is that you want to make crazy promises, but you want to keep
these promises. And if these promises
are kept and the audience is satisfied
with your videos, it will keep watching more
and more of your videos, which will increase the
so called session time, which is how much time people invest in viewing videos
in your channel, right? So they view one video
and then they view all of the other videos of
yours, which is cool. For example, Cool not
click Baby videos, right? Will Build Trust. We know that Mr. Beast he does what he promises. So, for example, in this video, which has a $1 versus
a $500,000 experience, you probably know that he
will actually do he will have an experience that costs
$500,000 because he's Mr. Beast, and you already
know to trust this guy. So you don't even evaluate if
the family is true or not. You just click on the video because you
know that it's true. He has nurtured his
audience, right? Again, here, you
probably know that he will save 100
dogs from dying. In this video. He
has built trust. This is what you earn by
creating not click Baby videos. This is not clickbait, right? If he had tm nail, right, and he had titled the video, I saved 100 dogs from dying, and then it's just a
video of him playing Playstation, this
will be clickbait, and this would harm the trust that you have as an audience as, you know, if you were to Mr. Beast, he does not
want this, right? Again, here, this is not
clickbaiting. It builds trust. So as you can see, in this lesson right here
in this primary lesson, we discussed about
we analyzed pretty much like multiple
different famils. You can see that let's not
focus on the tile right now. These all are videos that
have millions of views, well, not sat pass, but the other videos
have millions of views, 275 million views,
33 million views, 3 million views, right? And this has 166,000 views. All of these videos are successful, are
considered successful, but these tamels are so different, right,
from one another. Now, the fact is that
this is not random. These people have designed
their thumbnails. Well, I'm not sure about
the cone shaped thing, but these people have
designed their thumbnails. And, trust me, all
of these people probably have the facilities to create high end thumbnails, like the one right here, but they didn't
choose to, right? So the next test of what we're going to be
doing is we're going to be analyzing the different types of thumbnails that exist, right? The different tamils that
you can choose from, right? And we're going to
be also analyzing, let's say, random thumbnails, thumbnails with images,
only thumbnails with images and text when to choose
each type of thumbnail. And then we're
going to be moving, and I'm going to show
you exactly how to design each and every single
one of these thumbnails. On top of that,
I'm going to have a free canva link for you access thumbnail
templates that are proven and will make
your videos perform, so it's so easy for you to design with a template that I'm going to be providing you in the next lessons of
the scores, right? So thanks from being here, I'm going to see you in the
next lesson of the score.
3. Bonus Thumbnail Template Walkthrough: Ladies gentlemen, welcome to the second lesson
of the Squares. Now, in this lesson, as I told you in the conclusion
of the previous lesson, we're going to be discussing
about the different types of Tamils that you can create. Now, I don't want to bore you with analyzing every single, different small type of
tammil that you can create, because at the end of
the day, what we're going to be doing is
that we're going to be wanting to intrigue viewers
to click on our video by making a promise that is kept throughout
the video, right? In order to do
this, pretty much, as you can imagine, there are
two ways to achieve this. Either by having
thumil wise, right, a random famil just
a photograph with a very intriguing title or designing a thuma
that looks more professional and just increases, let's say, the perceived
value that the viewer will get once they
click on your video. Now, I don't think
that we need to focus in this course right
here on having random thumils like the cone shaped one that we analyzed in the
previous dozen because these just come down into you being creative and
applying just again, a random photograph with a cool title just to intrigue the viewers to
click on your video, and then it's up to you to keep the promise
throughout the video. All right? This is a
thumbnail design course, and what we're going
to be doing in this sss right here is that
we're going to be going through the Canva template
that I have attached in the discussion of
this course for you to access
completely for free. And we're going to be analyzing
the different types of thumbnails that exist
inside this Canva template. Now, again, in future lessons, I'm going to show
you how to edit tubules and edit photographs
and create thumbnails, right, regardless of the Canva template, then
I'm going to be attaching. And then, of course,
I'm also going to show you how to create thumbnails
with this va template. But I think that this
kind of template perfectly elaborates and showcases right the
different types of thumbnails that exist and that you can apply
to your video work. So let's go through, again, the different
templates that I have inside this
downloadable resource. So this, for example, is the first
template right here. And I know it looks very
basic, but it's really not. This is a comparative, let's say comparison thumbnail. So in this Tamil, you have image one that will go
in this side right here, and don't worry about all the different features of Canva. We're going to be disussing
about them later on. But you have one
image here, usually, the second image in the middle and the third image
on the right. And I'm going to
show you also how these tamels will look like once they're completely created. But this is a
template. So for you, you need to add one image here, a second image here,
and a third image here. No titles, no text whatsoever, combined with an awesome title. And by the way, I'm
going to be showing you some title recommendations that you can follow in order to combine these tamales
right here, right, and make a perfect
combination of AT&T, a title and a thumel So this
right here, for example, is the first thumbnail
type you can create a comparative thumbnail of
three different images. This video, for
example, could be titled A Day in the Life of A, and then you add your knee. So a day in Life of a congraerO a day in life of
a tennis player. And you have, like, 5:00 A.M.
What you do in 5:00 A.M. When you wake up or 10:00
P.M. Or something, 10:00 A.M. Or then you have lunch, and then you have, something
to do during the night. Again, you want to
intrigue the viewers, so you just add cool images in Section one, Section
two, Section three. Right? And you can see that this is not a randomly
designed template. You have the perfect length
of those lines that, again, separate the famil. And then in the
background, you also have this grid thing that highlights the middle
of the thumbil. These are not these were
purposely made this way. The tumble was purposely
made this way, this template for you to
find optimal success. The next one is, for
example, this, again, a comparative thumbnail
of two images, right? So, for example, this
could be a video titled how I managed to elevate
my health in 12 months. And in this section
of the thumbnel, you can have you being sick, for example, in this
section of famille, you could be you being very
strong and working out, and combined with a good title, this could intrigue the viewer. So this is again, a
comparative thumbnail of two different images. Moving on, again, the
exact same thing, but this line is, let's say, has am slight angle. This line doesn't have an angle. Again, comparative famille.
You get the point, you get multiple thumbils in
this template right here. And again, a
comparative famila of three with two lines
that are not angled. Very simple, very basic.
You get the point. This right here is a more, let's say, sophisticated
or complicated thumbnail. But again, I've tested
this in my channel, and it works absolutely. Perfect. Now, these are titles. Again, all of these can
be manipulated once you enter the template that I'm
going to be giving you. All of this can be
manipulated. You can change these to
whatever you want, and I'm going to show
you, like, how to change them and how to tweak
them and all that stuff. At this point, I'm just going to elaborate on the design
of the thumbnail. And, of course, later
on I'm going to show you how to manipulate it and
change and all that stuff. So right here, you have the image of the main subject
of the thumbnil and this, again, we're going to be
replacing to one of our images. And usually the standard
right here would apply to a video in which we're discussing
on a five step process. So, for example, five
steps to become more wealthy in 2025 or my five step routine to
gain more muscle in 2025. And if I would name this video, my five step routine to
gain more muscles in 2025, I would just delete
these, right, and just have a five
step routine and me being muscular in the
middle of the thumbnail. And again, you can see
that the background is also this background
here. Which would help. And I'm going to show you
some ways, okay, again, in the next lesson of discourse to shoot photographs of you wearing clothes that are more contrasting than the
background of your videos. And that's also very important. So this is, again,
a thumbnail in which you elaborate on
a five step process, and you can see that
the graphic designs are just on point this image of the five
step process is on point. The graphic design work on
this is absolutely amazing. Again, another thumb in which you elaborate
on, let's say, this could be a wellness video, you can see that
it elaborates on, for example, mindfulness,
house, income, savings, networking,
and, of course, all of these can be
changed in the future. I'm going to show you how
to change all these, right? So change all of these icons to whatever icon you want using, of course, the tamblds in Canva. But again, same thing, the
subject in the middle, and then you have some
icons going on, right? So this is well,
we can edit this. And again, I'm going to
show you how to edit it in future lessons. Let's not bother
with this for now. And again, you can
click on this, start unlocking it
and editing all of the thumbnails inside here
and all of the aspects. I'm going to show you how
to do this in next lessons. Again, here, this is
usually a thumbnail, for example, for more, let's say, finance
YouTube channels in which you have this
growing line of again, stocks growing or audience
growing, followers growing. This could indicate money also. So you get to just edit this. For example, if
you don't want the $1,000,000 sign in
the background, you can edit this out
and you can have, again, your subject in
the middle of the frame. And again, in the background, you have this exponential
growth of a stock. This, again, intrigues
of yours because the graphic design work right
here is absolutely awesome. And again, we have, let's
say, ourselves in the middle. Right here, also, this is
another type of thumil that you can have a thumbnail indicating something
let's say negative, which inspires, let's
say, subconsciously, a fear of people not knowing
the information that led to this person losing
$250,000, for example. And again, all of
these can be changed. You do not need
to have a finance YouTb channel to
apply this, right? I'm just saying that these
templates are made with like, say, a Finance YouTuber in mind. But again, you could decrease,
you could delete this and add something
else as a tile here. But you can see that the
fonts, the tiles, the colors. Everything is
absolutely awesome. This graphic design template
of this stock going down, you can see that it's more dark here and more bright here. All of these are
designed again to drive more eyeballs to your
thumo. And it works. It's proven because again, it's a resource
coming from one of the best YouTubers
at the moment. Again, the exact same thing with this graph
growing exponentially. But in the top left, you also have more information. And you can see how amazingly, the information blends
with our main subject, which at this point,
is positioned in the middle of our frame. And you will see in
later templates that the subject doesn't always need to be positioned in the
middle of the frame. You can position him left, right, and all
that stuff, right? Moving on, again, here you
compare two different things. This, for example, guy
compares Bitcoin with Shopify. But in your case, you
could um compared to different screen
recording software if you have a channel around screen recording or two
social media destinations. And you can see that. Again, the graphic
design work here is absolutely amazing.
And guess what? Once you have like two or
three or five different images of you shot perfectly
for Tamils, and you can just keep
copying and pasting them and copying and paste them to all of the templates, right? So you have all of these
fama ideas, right? So this is just another
famla I'm going to be giving you in the sheet. Here, you can see that final, we have our subject in the
left part of the screen, and in the right part, we have this, again, graphic design box indicating multiple impressions, right? And again, you can tweak this, you can write whatever you want, and this Tamil just
indicates growth, right? Big subject in the left
part of the screen, and then we indicate growth with this part, which is cool. Again, the same thing
on the right side of the screen, we
have our subject, and in the left side, we have bank balance
or whatever, and you can tweak all of
these, do whatever we want. That's also an amazing
graphic design template. The same here with
not bank balance, but with just
another illustration of growth. So we
can also use this. For example, if you
want a thumbnail, with your tweets, right? You can have on your left side your subject and on the
right side, your tweets. So you can write whatever
you want. Your tweet, you can change the image, you can change,
let's say this text, you can change the
caption, all of this. So this is, again, if you
want to share tweets in your thumbails and
this is proven the thumbnails in
which you share, social media posts or
controversial tweets in general tend to perform good. Which is amazing. The same thing here with Instagram questions. So if you post a story on
Instagram and someone, let's say, ask you a
question in the story, you can add this question
right here or like a similar question to someone
that asks you on Instagram, and this could also be a famiil. Also, keep in mind that it looks like the subject is
holding this image. And I'm going to show again
how to photograph yourself. So it looks like you're holding, say the image of your famil, which is just very cool. Same thing here, subject
on the left and on the right part of the screen,
we have a revenue growing. You can see the subject
overlaps the revenue. This is also something
I'm going show you how to do, right? And here, again,
paypal screenshots, these tend to
perform great if you are a Finance YouTuber, if you talk about
business, if you talk about generating income online, portraying some kind of again, income generated in those very common
payment processing apps, paypal stripe,
that stuff and you can see if I if I delete stripe, you can see that on
behalf of papal logos. Again, this is just an
amazing template. Um, yeah. So if you just indicate
some kind of payment, people tend to recognize
papal notifications, so they might be intrigued
to click on your thumbnail, if you also have an amazing
tile coming with it, right? Again, this is also one of the famils that I
really, really like. It's a family
comparing two stocks. And all of these Tamils are amazingly generated
and have amazing, let's say, graphics,
and obviously, it all comes down into adding
amazing images of yours. But if you don't combine
them with perfect titles, they will simply
not work, right? So what we're going to be doing
in the next video, right? Before we actually launch CMV, we start editing on Canva and I'm going to
show you how to edit, like everything regarding
Tumbil the next dozen, I'm going to just give you some title
recommendations to match with the thumil
templates that I'm going to be giving you
again in this course. So on the next dazzle, we're analyzing title recommendations. We're going through
a title list that is indicated to be used with the templates
that I just gave you, and we're also analyzing
some basic thumbnail, let's say, metrics
which you can follow and understand the theory on how thumbnails work and why
certain thumbnails outperform others before we start firing up Canada and
editing thumils ourselves. So thank you very
much. I'm going to see you in the next
dozen of the scores.
4. Bonus Title Template Walkthrough: Lady galemen, I'd
like to welcome you to the lesson of the scores. And in this lesson right here, I'm going to give you some
title templates and some hook templates that you can apply to the thumbnails that
we're going to be creating. So again, in next
lessons, obviously, we're going to be designing and creating all of
these thumbnails by also using the templates that I'm going to
be providing you. And these templates that I'm
going to be providing you also blend together perfectly with these titles right here. Now, the titles that I'm
going to be presenting to you in this lesson right here, are titles that both apply to the search
engine of YouTube, as well as the recommended based
algorithm of the platform. This means that if you tailor
these titles correctly, I'm going to show
you, and I'm going to elaborate obviously
on how to do so. You will also manage
to make your videos rank cap on search results because as you may
or may not know, YouTube is the second
largest search engine, but also some of
these videos will pop off as recommended, right, and be recommended
to a let's say, wider audience than the one that you tailor with your
search engine optimized videos. So thank you much
for being here, let me show you exactly
what this list is. And by the way, you
can also access this list and download these title selections
for you to use from the discussion page
of this course right here. So
let's get started. These right here are
the title templates. And you can see it is pretty straightforward how we're
going to be using them. Wherever you see industry, you're going to write your
industry whenever you see anything in these Again, Mark, you're going to
replace it with yours. Those are some titles.
Let's go through them. How I build A industry. So yeah, your industry business with zero prior experience. That's always a great title. And again, let's
say, for example, that my industry is
horse creation, right? I would tailor this title, and I would write how I build a course creation business
with zero prior experience. So in this way, it is also
appealing to the eye. It also adds to the
intriguing factor. So people are intrigued, and you also add the keyword
that you want there, which is course creation. In this case, then
this is amazing. Or, for example, the ugly truth about the industry
no one talks about, like, the ugly truth about the course creation
industry that nobody talks about, right? Or from zero students to
100,000 students in 12 months. I, again, you're
a course creator. If you are, for example, a car mechanic,
you would be like, from broken car to
Lamborghini in five months, my full story, right? So all of these videos apply to different types
of content, right? So, for example, the ugly
truth about your industry. In this video, you would
elaborate on some things that potentially aren't as good for your industry
and people should know. And this video would be designed for you to become
more genuine with your audience and people to connect with you
because you're not only presenting the positive aspects
of your business, right? Or, for example, how I build a whatever business with
zero prior experience. I would also this video is
also tailored to make people resonate with you
because when they see like zero prior experience, they think that,
Okay, that's me, I have zero prior experience, and if this guy made it,
then I can also do that. So just a good way to
introduce your story. Again, why your product isn't attracting any clients,
how to fix it. So why your courses isn't courses aren't
attracting any students, for example, right, or why your software isn't
attracting any clients. So behind my first $10,000 month in the course
creation industry, you get the point, right? So again, apply these titles to your niche and you will
not be disappointed, right? These titles are, let's say, a combination of search
engine optimized titles. So, for example, this
title right here, it's search engine
optimized because you'll see that ten things, X, so you add a
number here, right? Let's say, 12 things I wish
I knew before starting, and you mentioned your business, or this could be knitting, for example, five
things I wish I knew before starting knitting, right? You get the point,
these titles apply to all businesses
throughout the whole world, and they're all made to
intrigue the viewers, right? It's very important for you
to remember that a title, in fact, the title is more important than the Famil, right? Because a Tamil by itself, it's not that intriguing unless you add text to the Tamil, which is an approach that
we will be elaborating on. But the title actually is more
interesting than the Tumel and it plays a bigger role in the video than the thumbnail. This is why I had to add a title lesson to
this video for you. I know that you're here to learn how to design thumbnails, but you need to know how
to intrigue people with your titles in order for your thumbnails
to be successful. So you can see, all of these
titles are intriguing. What nobody tells you about
starting a, let's say, course creation business
or a day in life of a course creator reality
versus expectations. Check this out. Why I
left my previous you had your previous job to pursue course
creation full time. So why I left my
job as a doctor to pursue course creation full
time in my case, right? Or from problem to solution, my client's industry,
my client's journey. All of these titles
are very interesting. So I want you to get
them, download them, apply them to your business, apply them to your ni on
YouTube channel, right? And again, whenever
you see something like this, amount, product, achievement industry, you
just replace them with yours. Now, there is are
some Hook templates, and these are pretty
much made for more if you will,
recommended based videos. So the videos you
will create with these titles right here, they're meant to
hook your viewers and they're meant to appeal
to a broader audience because they're designed to appeal
to the recommended algorithm of yout which means
that they will be distributed again
into multiple people, and they're not going
to be search results. For example, the industry secret no talks about until now or how I may result
in time frame, step by step guide, right? This is actually kind of search
engine optimized, right? Ten things I knew before. I wish I knew before that. So ten things I wish I knew
before creating 30 courses. The real reason why you're not getting this result, right? So you'll see that
these titles are a bit more let's say punchy in order to appeal to the recommended
based algorithm of YouTube. Now, we've discussed
about the titles. I do not need to go and analyze every single
one of these titles. I think you understand the
point and you get the point. What we will be doing in
the next installment of the scores is that I'm going to show you some key metrics, so how you measure
the success of your thumbnails
seeing and analyzing some top performing
thumbnails and why some of the thumbnails of
this huge channel right here outperform others. So you know in your back of your mind
which mistakes to avoid and which principles to apply to your thumbnail
creation approach, right, in order to have flawless thumbnails
once we launch Canva and show you how to
tweak these templates, right? So more information about this in the next lesson
of the scores.
5. Thumbnail Metrics: What Works & Why: Welcome to the fourth
lesson of scores. In this fourth
lesson right here, we're going to be analyzing the top performing channels of one of the best potentially
channels on YouTube right now, Imangazi. He has one of the
biggest personal brands and the best
channels on YouTube. He has a huge team of, I think, more than four full time
Tamil designers that all they do all day is that
they check out his Tamils and redesign
them over and over again. And he has gathered
a huge library of data regarding thumbnails. In this video right here, I'm giving you a peek on the thumbnails that his
team chose over others, what metrics he used to compare the effectiveness
of these thumbnails, and we're going to be analyzing
their notes on why they chose some thumbnails
over others. By the end of this
lesson right here, you will know exactly why some thumbnails
outperformed others, and you can take some
tips and inspiration from this action right here to apply to your Danial design, which is going to be starting in the next lesson of
the course, right? So, thank you very
much for being here. Let's get to the point. So these are the AB tests. AB test, it's pretty much what we call when we test two things, right, in digital marketing and business in general, right? From Emans thumbnails
of the channel, right? So check this out. This is
the first breakdown, right? Let me zoom in a bit so
you can see it better. So this was Taminal one
and this was Tumnal two. And we measured the success of a thumbnail by the click
through rate, right? So a click through rate
is a percentage because a click rate it's actually
a, let's say, division, and what we divide is pretty much the amount
of impressions, which is how many times
the thumbnail was shown divided by the
number of cliques, right? So this time, this was 3.45%. So from 8,515 people who saw this thumbnail in combination with the
title, obviously, 294 people clicked, and that's a 3.45% conversion rate
or click through rate. Now, a good click rate is
actually more than 4%, right? This is a general rule of
thumb of YouTube videos. But as YouTube recommends your videos more
and more and more, click through rate always
falls because more people that do not know you get your video recommended to their
homepage and obviously, they have a lower chance
of clicking on the video. Now the Samuel had a 2.6. The Samuel had a 3.4 clicked
rate. Let's see why. So the original thumbnail, which was this
thumbnail rate here, showed a basic sit down shot accompanied by icons representing seven
productivity hacks. So these are the seven
productivity hacks, right? In contrast, the variation captured Eman actively
journaling with a calendar schedule overlay demonstrating organizational
skills in action. So what this Fumble pretty much demonstrated and why it worked is that it
demonstrated action. So again, this shift from static to dynamic presentation
proved more effective. This is something that
you should note down. Again, shifting your thumules
from static to dynamic or potentially immediately having
them being more dynamic. Right? So the variation
exceeded by showing a more relatable
and aspirational moment that viewers want to achieve in their
own lives, right? So you can see that
mid action thumbnails tend to outperform static presentations by creating a stronger emotional
connection with the audience. Right? Let's move to
the second thumbnail. So you can see that
right here, for example, the Samuel probably
describes a video that is about addiction
or a video with a more, let's say, negative
based title, right? So we had this tamel
first with 1.7% click through rate and
then this tamail with a 2.99% clickthrough rate. And I think that you
can immediately see why this tamel
outperformed this one. We have more vibrant colors. We have, again, icons that people may recognize
and, of course, a huge face in the
middle of the screen with eyes looking directly
to the viewer, right? And this obviously captures attention more than
the Samid here, because when a human
sees eyeballs, it is very commonly
associated with danger or connection with other
humans and just in your human nature for eyeblls
to grab your attention. So you can see that the
variation Tamil outperformed the original despite the original's dramatic
performance presentation, right? Again, while dramatic
Tamils often perform well, the variation connected more by showing the app icons that
view might be struggling with. And again, Iman's frustrated
facial expression captured the emotion of someone wanting to break free from those apps and potentially
those addiction, right? So again, the variation
also used brighter, more vibrant colors that
helped it stand out in YouTube's feed compared to
the original darker tones. Right you can see very simply, even if we zoom out
from the famils you can see which Tamil grabs
tension better. Moving on to breakdown
number three, you can see these are
the two thumbnails. This was the first one with
a 2.6% click through rate, and this is the
second one with a 1.64% click through rate. And actually, the first one over outperformed
the second one. So it proved more successful by incorporating three
relatable elements for the target demographic. You can see it's gaming, it's exclusive
content, and it's also like someone waking
up at 4:00 A.M. Still being, you know, up, not going in bed, reinforces the messed up life narrative. Whereas the second one I
guess it helps you, again, improve your life, and in
combination with the title, just didn't work out, right? So again, this demonstration
right here proves the point of creating content that resonates with your audience
pain points and experiences. This is actually
interesting, and I wanted to tap into this
Samuel right here because the first image was
actually sold with a professional camera
and all that stuff we discussed in the first
lesson of the scores. But the second one was just
a screenshot from the video. And you can see that the second one actually
outperformed the first. Right? Why? So again, this comparison highlights
an interesting case where both Daniels associate
Eman with success, but with a crucial difference
in the presentation. So the original shows Iman
in an upscale setting, positioned high above the city
to represent elite status. However, the variation
outperformed by capturing Iman, mid conversation with a cigar, had a drink in a similar
high end environment. So again, the difference was
dynamic mid action shot. This was a dynamic
mid action salt captures attention better
because at the end of the day, what we're trying to do with our thumbnails is
obviously to combine them with the titles to
have a perfect result. But first of all, we
grab attention with the thumbnail and then drive
the attention to the title. So I want to grab attention
with the famil and then drive this attention to the title and make earn the
click this way. So again, the
variation succeeded because it presented Iman as both aspirational
and approachable, a successful figure
actively sharing wisdom. Right? Moving on to number five, this was actually a big
increase in click through rate, so you can see that
this started with a 5.2% and then it
moved to a 6.6%. This is a very big click
through rate, right? So what happened
here, you can see that both famils
are very similar. What really changed are the facial expressions
of the two and, of course, the question. So Q&A videos are mostly about
questions and expressions. As we can see, the
original Flamel has multiple questions. However, notice how Iman and Amar's expression
do not align with the title answering
uncomfortable questions with My personal assistant. So this was the
title of the video, answering uncomfortable questions with my
personal assistant. And on the other
hand, the variation, Famil focused on the question that matches the
title perfectly. So again, even this thumbnail, tutorial right here
also highlights the importance of combining
a thumbnail with a title. And again, the
title is answering uncomfortable questions
with my personal assistant, and you can see that
their faces right here are more uncomfortable
than their faces right here. And they're also mentioning the most uncomfortable questions throughout the whole video, which was this
question right there. So, again, this was why the
thumbnail outperform others. It just comes down into
increasing, let's say, the deal that you're making with the viewer when he sees the
thumbnail and the title, which is that if you
click on this video, you will see what's the body count of man
of or Amara, right? So then we move to
thumle number six. Again, this comparison
demonstrates why realistic before and after visuals outperform
abstract presentations, right? So you can see, we have a
perfect example of a before and an after visual and this abstract
presentation, right? This also is kind of like a
before and an after thumil, but this is just better
because there are two different settings.
It makes more sense. So 4.9 clickthrough rate
that's actually very good. A click through rate right here. So while both thomils
used the same concept, the variation succeeded through strong real life visuals that viewers could
instantly understand. The original small progress bars and icons lacked
Impight and realism. And the variations
straightforward approach combined relatability
with visual simplicity, making the
transformation message immediately clear
to the viewers. So let's move to the
final breakdown. Again, we could stick
here for many hours, but I'm going to show you
like two more, I guess. Famille number seven was
this from a 2.7% to a 3.3%. And again, we have
this variation Tamel which was the winner
at the end, right? So you can see that the
breakdown shows why a clear transformation
narrative succeeds. The variation uses a direct before and after comparison
of young Iman, right, versus current image, Iman with ages clearly marked making the comparison instantly clear. And let's see the
title of the video. The title was Iman Gazi recorded his entire life
since he was broke, right? Okay. So this was the
title of the video, right? And this title just
makes you want to click because you will see
how he was when he was broke, for example, and
how he is now that he's very successful, right? So again, this image right here pretty much lacked impact, while viewers might not
recognize him in that. More importantly,
this demonstrates how investing time to find perfect famil images is as crucial as radiation
and execution. This right here is going
to be the final famille. We've been realizing this
as rate here, right? And it's important for me to drive one point home
with this tumbo. Okay? So you can see
that you have from a 2.5 click rate to a 3.4, right click rate, which
is a huge approach. And in this comparison, you will see this, for example,
first of all, this video is called
Five Simple habits that made me a
millionaire, okay? So what do we see here exactly? Immediately, the first
thing that you see is two icons that you
recognize, right? Notion, notes, and the slide
off to power of your phone. So immediately you
recognize like three habits that you already know and you might
already apply. So you want to hear
more about them. How the hell did this guy became a millionaire with
these habits, right? So again, in the comparison, the variation
succeeded by combining two powerful elements,
transformation and relatability. Well, the original famille
isn't poorly executed. It focuses on money, right? So this tumble right
here focuses on money. This demonstrates how
famil elements must directly support the
video's primary topic, right, rather than to
ducing unrelated themes, even if they are a catching. So this is what happened
in this thumbnail right here with Iman. So again, I think we analyzed lots of
different thumbnils, and I think we have
a general grasp of what makes a thumbnail
better than the others. Now, again, all the thumbils we analyzed in this ide right here were made by professionals, and really, they
all perform great. Even a 4% click through rate
in the audience that Iman reaches is absurd, right?
It's a great number. But you know now what works and what works
better, pretty much. So now I think that we have a circular understanding of what's going on in the
world of thumbnails. It is time to open Canva
and show you exactly how to replicate some of
these Tamils and create your thumbnails
from scratch, right? So more information about this in the next lesson
of this course.
6. Shooting Thumbnails Like a Pro: Ladies and gentlemen, I
would like to welcome you to this lesson right here in which we're going
to be discussing about shooting our thumbils. And, of course, by the
end of this lesson, you will have as an assignment, the actionable step of
going in your setup, setting up a shooting scene, which I'm going to show you
exactly how to set up and the gestures that you need to do and all the box that you need
to check in order to have a collection of
thumbils for you to edit down the line in
this course, right? And we are shooting our thumbnails in this
lesson right here. Now, in this lesson, we're
discussing different types of shots that you should
achieve, right, different collection of
images that we should collect before hopping on Canva, right, and starting to
edit these images, right? I'm going to show you
solutions if you have an awesome setup and if you
have a great background, which you can utilize
for your thumbnails. And I'm going to also show you some solutions if you don't? So let's say that
you don't have a um you don't have a background, you don't have a ready studio. I'm going to show you a way
to just produce images for your thumbnails that
you can utilize without needing to
have an awesome space, because we're going to be
removing the background later on in post production in Canva. So welcome to this lesson, let's dive into the information. So shooting your thumbnails, the desired result
of this session right here is for you to have five to 20 well lit
in focus images, right of you being
in the center of the frame or sometimes
in the corner, right, or left, it depends on the images we're
going to be using, having different expressions
and hand gestures. So we want to collect
a wide variety of different shots of yours
because we're going to be utilizing them in
different tamels. As you can imagine, these five to 20 shots
will be utilized in all of these
different titles and all these different famils we discussed in
previous lessons. So it could be a
transformational famil, which it discusses and it showcases your transformation
from point A to point B. It could be a thumil of a top five ways to achieve
the desired outcome video. So we want just a
wide variety of different expressions of
yours and gestures of yours, right, to combine
with titles and, of course, post production
techniques that we're going to be doing
in Canva later on, right, too, of course,
intrigue the viewer. Now, if you have a
cool background, if you have a setup going on, you can make sure its
composition is on point, as we might also use your background and
use your setup and not replace your background
later on in post production. If you do not have
a cool background, and you do not have
a setup going on, just make sure that
your subject is well lit and the colors are easily separated
from the background. For example, you're wearing a black t shirt and you have
a white background, right? So we want, at least, if you don't have a good
background for us to be able to separate you easily
from the background. This is why I would suggest
you to wear like a color of a shirt or like a you know, a hoodie that has contrast from the background because the
AI that we're going to be using inside of Canva to separate you from the
background really would just want to make its
life as easy as possible. So pick, again, in which category of people do you
belong you belong to, right, cool background people, not cool background people. It's completely fine. I'm going to show you
solutions in both of these cases, right?
And important. That's actually very,
very important. If you're not familiar
with DSLR cameras, mirror less cameras,
but you already have a camera for your
content creation, right? If you're not sure, and perhaps you're good
at video, right? Perhaps you're
amazing at creating videos and shooting
videos with your camera, but you're not good at
taking photographs. Don't your camera. You
can just use your phone. Phones work perfectly. You really do not need to have very expensive camera
to shot your thumbnails. Because, again, in
post production, we can use the phones to just enhance the images and
make them look very cool. You can blur the background
artificially with, again, post production
editing in Canvas. So I do not want you to mess up the camera because sometimes, for example, with the camera, you might have it on Automde and the camera might have
something, you know, wrong with it or you might
have it on manual mold, and the Izo increases
very fastly. So you might have a blurry
image without even knowing it. And the worst absolute
worst thing that can happen for you
is for you to, like, spend hours, not hours, but let's say you spend
an hour shooting all of these dumbnils and then
you enter your PC and you import the
images from the hard are RPC and you just see that all of the
images are blurry, for example, and you could
have done them better. So it sucks. Just use your
phone phones work perfectly. And even me that I have all
of these cameras and I have all of this experience
and expertise in lenses, settings, cameras,
all that stuff. I many times actually
use my phone because it's so easy
to do so, right? And the result isn't
that different, right? So again, if you have a
phone chip with your phone, you have an iPhone,
for example, it's perfect chip with your iPhone. And I want you to know
that good lighting is more important
than good gear. And we really stress
about this in my content creation
master class, which I urge you to check out. It's one of the
best content pieces that I've ever produced. It's 7 hours content
creation mastery. And in the gear
lesson, we really stress about the
importance of light and knowing how to understand light design and position
your lights correctly, right? And your space. Because trust me, if
you understand how to utilize lights and how to
positions lights correctly, position lights correctly,
you do not need to spend thousands
of dollars on gear. You might have the most
expensive cameras. If your lights aren't
placed in the correct way, you will ruin your shots. So let me show you some
of the desired results that we're looking to produce. So, for example, you see, right, the subject in the
middle of our frame separated from the background,
kind of, but it works. You can see that for example, the hoodie is in completely different color from
the background, right? And we also have a cool
background in this case, which is blurred out because he show us with a camera, right? Which we can utilize
in our thumel. So again, you have this
expression right here, this expression, you have
his hands like this, so you can use things to compare from one side of
the screen to the other, and he's also kind of surprised. So make sure to have
one surprised face. Make sure to have this
confident face, right? And you can see
that, again, this could be used as a
thumbnail by itself, so we not even need to replace the background
in this case, because you can add something
in this part of the image. For example, a an icon or a
title or something like this. So we can usually
use this. Again, you have this face which
he's stressed. He is concerned about
something, and again, combined with the correct title, it will intrigue the viewer. So why this is happening, again, shocked face with
the finger pointing. So try to recreate exactly
these images right here. So you have shocked face image
with the finger pointing. You have a confident
face with again, finger pointing at something, so we might add something
here, for example, in this part of the
thumbnail, right, we have another very
shocked face of him comparing two things. And a surprised
face, for example, which is also kind of a funny
face showing something. So again, all of these will be used to intrigue the viewers. Now, these examples right here were given to me by
a Tamil specialist, a famil designer that
I used to work with. He was an amazing
famil designer, right? Unfortunately, he
stopped creating famils, which absolutely sucks. But he gave me these images
right here for me to have an understanding of the types of images that he wants me
to shoot and send to him. So he has all of
this variety, right, of different images to edit
my famils with, right? So these are the images. Let me go through
the one more time. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, right? So these are the
different images that I want you to replicate. You can screenshot
them. You can save this video. You can
watch this video again. And what I'm going to show
you right now, right, is how I set up my thumbnail
shoots. It's very simple. I'm going to shoot a video with my phone to show you
exactly how I set up. Again, my thumbnail shots
where I position the lights, when I position my subject
and how you can do this with, you know, very small budget, just with a simple light source. And just to set the
record straight, the best light source to use regardless of if you're shooting thumbnails or if you're shooting videos or
if you're shooting logs or selfies or
cinema posts, right? Cinema let's say, movies, the best light source
for you to use every single time is
natural sunlight, especially if it's cloudy
the clouds act as diffusers, and they diffuse the
harsh lighting of the sun to just provide even sunlight, even again, lighting throughout, again,
the ground, right? So if you have natural sunlight, it's kind of a cloudy day, but you have, let's say, light, this would be the
best absolute light to use for your
thumbnails, right? Artificial lighting
cannot recreate the results that we have with, again, shooting outside with natural sunlight
diffused by clouds. So I want you to remember
that, and I'm going to show you exactly how I set up my thumbnail shoots
in a controlled studio environment
with artificial light, right, just for you to know,
right? So see you there.
7. Photo Shooting Setup Walkthrough: Oh, this right here is my setup. I do not want you
to be overwhelmed by the complexity of the setup. What I want you to
see is very simple. In order to suit
your thumbnails, I want you to have the same, let's say, if you have a
limited space like me here, you can see that my studio
space isn't that big. I want you, let's
see if the subject sits here in this position, this is the positioning
of your subject. I want you to have the
exact same distance from the camera which is right
there in the background. I want you, let's say, the distance between the camera and the wall the
background wall, I want you to split it in half and sit exactly
in the middle. In this way, you will
have the perfect depth between, again, your camera. Your subject and the background. Now, in my case,
you can see that my background is this
light right here. I'm clearly separated from my background and
as simple as that, the most simple way to light up a scene I do not
want you to again, see the setup, I
do not want you to see the microphone, we
do not care about this. Those are video aspects. We only care about photo aspects. I want you to have your
camera right there, this could be your phone,
it could be dies or camera. It doesn't really matter. What really matters is if you're sitting right here and
you're the subject, I want you to have
a light source at a 45 degree angle
from the subject. That's extremely important. Even if you just
have a chair right? And you set it somewhere
and you have a light source at a 45 degree angle
from your chair. And you're separated
from the background, it would work perfectly. What I don't want you
to do is as a subject, stick yourself next
to the background. This I do not want because in this way we will
not have depth, will not have separation between the subject and the background. Even if you have a small space, what I want you to do is detach yourself from
the background in order for you to have some depth and for your camera
to work perfectly. If you are debating between sitting closer to the background or sitting closer to the camera, choose to sit closer to the
camera because this will add, again, depth and it will
blur out your background. That's extremely important.
I want you also again, to have a 45 degree angle from your lighting source,
and this would be perfect. Let's say for example, that
this right here was my window and I had it open for
natural light to come in. I would place my
chair right here on a 45 degree angle from the lighting source and my
camera I would face like this. I had also some
background separation. Yes, I have 150,000
subscribers on YouTube. This right here was the
positioning of the thumbnail. Right now it is time
to fire up Canva and let's start with the magic.
8. Canva Tools for Thumbnail Design: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the much anticipated lesson
in which we're going to be going through the interface of the Canva thumbnail
editor section, and I'm showing
you all the things that you need to have in mind before you start editing
your thumbnails in CAVA. In general, this
lesson we're pretty much covering
everything regarding the different selections and the different things you can
apply to your thumbnails. And we're not just going to
be sticking to the basics. I'm not just going
to show you how to manipulate an
image and how to, let's say, position an image from one part of the
thumbnail to another. We're going to go through every single thing that you need to have in mind before
importing your images. Show to the software. So once we import the
images in the next, again, lesson of scores,
you know exactly how to manipulate them. So the vis for being here, let's launch Canva and let me show you exactly what
I'm talking about. So this right here is
the homepage of Canva. These are all the different
projects that I've created, but we don't really
care about this. In order to access
the thumbnail editor, let's say, part of Canva, I can either click here which
says YouTube Thumbnail, or I could go to search on Contentanva and I can just
type Thumbnail, right. Once I type Thumbnail, you can see that you can
click on YouTube thumbnail. And it's going to give
you a huge series of different templates, but we're going to dive into these templates
in just a moment. What you want to be doing
is you want to click on Created Blank YouTube thumal. And once you create
this, and by the way, this applies to
every single image usually that I also
edit in Canva. So when I'm editing
images in Canva, I edit them in the YouTube
thomal editor section. It doesn't really matter where the upload destination
will be of this image that you're
going to be creating. What we really care about
is the aspect ratio, which is exactly the let's say the characteristics
of your image, right? And this is a
horizontal image with the exact same aspect ratio
that is perfect for youTube. So what do we see here? We said we have
our blank page on which we get to choose whatever we're
going to do with it. We have all of these
sections right here, so you can have like
design elements, text, brand uploads, draw projects and apps, and we're not going to be
using most of these except, of course, elements
text and upload. Right, and what you can see here since we have these
tools right here. So we have this button
which is duplicate page. If we do this, obviously,
the page duplicates. And once we select this page, we can actually delete
the second one, so we can duplicate pages, and we can AB test,
for example, Tamils, if you have a thamul that
you feel it's perfect, but it needs a small correction, you can go ahead and
duplicate it and just apply the small corrections
in the second one. Right you have this,
which is just called add page in this
exact same button as this right here
which says add page. From here, you can
zoom out and zoom in your thumel and you can do pretty much great view
of all of your pages. Once you create them, I guess
we have just one page so we can really review the
pages. You get the point. So once we click on
an element on Canva, so I click on this, you can see that we opt in to
edit it, right? So again, whenever you click
on something in Canva, you have the ability to edit it. And in this case, what we can do because this is the
background right here, we can change the color
of the background. And we do this by clicking
on the color selection. And once we click on
the color selection, this color wheel right here. See that this menu pops
up in which you just get tweak and choose the different colors
of our background. So this is how you
just pretty much can immediately change the
colors of your background. Now, usually, in our thumbnails, we will never just keep the
symbol background from Ganva. We're going to be
editing the background. And there are actually
multiple approaches on how to create a
thumbnil at this point. The first approach I'm
going to show you is to create a thumbnail based
on the elements tab. So as you can see again,
you have the design tab in which you can access
to all the different templates, right of Canva. You can see that all of
these are already made thumbnails from expert
graphic designers in Canva, and you can go ahead
and click them, import them in your
page, and edit them. So, for example, let's say you really like the
Tamil right here, which is passive income ideas. I clicked on it and
you can see that it immediately imported to my page. Now I can click
this, and I can go ahead and edit the Samal
to whatever I want. You can see that I can drag and drop change the positioning
of all of the elements. I can delete this
element, for example, I can import my image. And this, if you're
not an expert and you don't want to dig that
deep into Tumbal design, let me just press
Command Z to delete it. If you're not an expert and you don't want to become an
expert and you don't want to dig deep into the thumal
world and you just want to create thumbnails
at work on Canva, what you could really do
is source design elements. So source already made templates and just replace the
subject with your subject, so you have to do this
in just a second. So for example, this could
be a good thumbnail, right if you replace
the subject with you. This is a subject that they
have. I can delete it, and I can go ahead and
import and replace mine. And once you actually click on an already made
template in Canva, you have the opportunity. You have the choice, right? It recommends you other very
similar famils like yours. You can see that all of
these are similar famuls. And if I go back, you can
see that we have all of these different famils from
all of these different, let's say, again,
types of flameless. For example, this is a more
artistic type of thumel. You can see that all
of these thumuls exact same have the exact same, let's say, artistic vibe,
which is cool, right? It's very cool. You can play around with the templates.
You can check it out. You can see different styles.
You can apply your style, for example, in the thumbnails. Templates, edding
thumbuls from templates is a good place to start if
you are a complete beginner. But let's say that
you want to add more stuff to your thumbnail, which you can find
in the templates. For example, I want to add say
literally whatever, right? Let's say that I
want to add, like, a small tennis
ball right here in my thumbnail just because
how do I do this? So you can go to
elements, right? And in these elements, you have this amazing
search button right here. So I want you to think of elements as pretty
much everything. So elements are like videos, photographs, graphic
designs, shapes, anything. So say you want tennis ball. Go ahead and click
on the search bar, rights tennis ball.
There you go. Right? And you can
see that you have now graphics of tennis balls, different graphics
you can source. You have photos of tennis
balls, all of these photos. You have videos of tennis balls. Of course, it would make
any sense to upload a video in Northamal thm is
supposed to be an image. You have frames of tennis balls, audio mockups, shapes
of tennis balls. Obviously, there's no
shapes of tennis balls. But how would I go to
source a tennis ball? If I had to, I would
click on this, and you can see that now we have this tennis ball in
the midar frame. You can make it smaller. You can make it bigger,
right? You can adjust it, place it wherever
you want, right? From these um, again,
selections right here. But you can again,
select the size, change the size, place
it wherever you want. Now, of course, a tennis ball does not apply to the stamel. Makes no sense to add a
tennis ball to the stamel. I just wanted to show
you how to search, how to source stuff and you can source them
from the elements. Now, another thing you can
do is you can source text, and you can either source texts from here from the text tab, at a textbox, add a heading
at a subheading, right? Or what I'd love to do is
that I would I love to source ten plates already made with text that
I really love. So, for example,
it's say that, okay, obviously this style right
here which says playlist is, let's say, the main
title of this famil. This is why we chose this
Tumel because it has this huge title that says playlist and I really like
the style of it, right? So what we can do is
that you can press Command C to copy it
and command V to paste it if you have a MacBook or you can right click and
press duplicate, right? So now this title is duplicated, and we can go ahead and
write whatever we want. You can change the size of it, and now we've sourced a title that we
really, really like. And even if you don't want to use this template right here, if you really like this title, you can go ahead and
click on Ad Page, and now you have a new
page, and let's say that I really like this title from
another famille of mine. Click on it, right,
click, right, copy. But here, click on the new
page, right, click Paste, and you have this exact title in your thumbll which you get to choose and tweak
however you want, right? So does this make sense to you. Right? You can
click on this also, if you want to edit your titles
and subtitles, of course, it's exact same thing if I would edit a new heading
from here, right? I can go ahead and
click on this heading, and I can tweak all of this stuff when
I click on the heading, so I can change, let's
say, the size of it. I can change the different
style of the heading. I can change the color
right to my brand colors. For example, this
is my brand kit. A brand kits pretty much like the different colors of my
brand that I have selected. Then I can tweak them, right, and I can just apply the colors of my
brand to every title. So it's like I have branding a consistent branding coloring. You can also see that Canva has this artificial
intelligence that automatically suggests
you the colors of the photograph that
you have already sourced. So, for example, what
Canva did here is that it analyzed the colors and main colors of this
photo right here, and now it suggests
them as photocolors. So you will see that
this color, for example, really applies to my image. This is also another way to move stuff from one page to another, from one family to another. If you want, you can
just drag and drop them. So you can see that this color is harmonious to my
image in this color, too, and this color, too, right? It's just a way for Canva
to suggest you colors that blending with your
image in a smooth way, which I think it's absolutely
genius because guess what? Now we need to
know color theory, which professionals do, right? Professionals do need to know
color theory, but we don't, because we now have artificial intelligence on Canva of Canva, which is absolutely amazing. Other things that you can
change in your titles once you click on them are obviously if they're going to be bold or not, if they're going to be, again, Italics or not, you
can underline them. You can cross them, right? So for example, I love to
cross thumbnails in which I mentioned the word ads and
I like to do it red, right? So I just add ads in red, which means that you don't
need to invest money in ads. This is part of,
like, my marketing. In general, it's a trick that I want to do that I like to do just writing down the word ads, just crossing it
out so people know exactly that I don't want to
pay for ads in my campaign. I'm getting off topic here. Now you can change the
alignment of your title. Obviously, you know that
stuff. It's very basic. You can add a list, and you can also change the transparency. And transparency
doesn't only disappear, doesn't only make
your title disappear, what transparency really does, you can see right here, I can change transparency
of playlist. You can see that again, you can see what's
behind your tile, right? You can see what's behind your
title, which is very cool. You can also animate
them, but this is a story for another
time because, again, we're not trying
to animate our famils. Those are just images, right? So you have other
titles that you can use from here,
title recommendations. I do not like, in general, these tile recommendations
right here, what I like to do
if I want to source a new title Be again,
check this out. If you source a
heading, for example, let's say we source a heading. I do not like this
lettering, right? And in order for me to
understand the lettering, I need to click
here and see all of these different fonts and see which fonts which
font I like the most. But in general, I don't
really like any of them. So what I like to do is actually I almost never source
a heading from here. I go to elements, I'm
sorry, I go to design. And I see all the
different thumbnails. And I see an already
made thumbnail that I just like the letters,
right? The title. For example, not obviously
what the title says, but how the text is
positioned in the title. So, for example, this is, let's add as a new page. This right here is a
very random thumil which is obviously
out of my niche, so I don't even know
what Monk Bank is. I think it's people
eating with an ASMR. Yeah, obviously, this one. What I do is that I really
like this style right here. I like the fact that
it's glowing and I really want to use
it in my thumbnail. So what I would do is I
would click on Ad page. Now we have this new
page, and I would simply Control Command C, Command V, this title into
this page right here. Now obviously, you can't
really see this title, but if I go ahead and
change the coloring, so go here and change
the text color, now suddenly you can obviously
see this title, right? And let's say that I want
it, I want to use it. And here I have it,
I just source it. Now I'm going to go
ahead and delete this. Guess what? I'm left with
just the title that I wanted to subtract
from this again, element that we sourced, right? So this is how you just source
titles from your element. In general, it works, right? And now you know exactly how to source what you love
from each element. And again, keep in mind that if you're a
complete beginner, you don't want to
mess with again, understanding how design
thumbnails and again, basic graphic design
applications in Canva. The easiest thing you
can do is just, again, source a thumbnail that
you'd like, right? So again, browse the thumbnails right here from design tab, see one that you like, and it would be easy
for you to recreate. Click on this, for example,
or replace current page, and we just delete
the subject and import our subject right here. And we kind of, like,
stole the thumbnail, and you can also change these text right here,
these titles right here. Again, applied to your
preference, and, of course, match the title match a famial with your title,
right? So that's important. Now that we know in general
the overview of Canva and some basic applications on how to tweak stuff in Canva, we do not need to go
into more detail to analyze the draw tools and stuff because we're never
going to be using them. I'm going to show
you in practice how to import the photos that
we shot together, right? So the photos that you show of yourself with the different
expressions and how to start editing these photos
inside of Canva, right? So in the next nason
of dis course, we're uploading I can drop in pretty much the
images that we produced, right, using the principles
that I show you, uploading them into Gamma. I'm showing you exactly how we can edit them inside
our thumules, right? So more information about this in the next dozen of squares.
9. Editing Raw Images into Thumbnails: So now that we're done
with the basic overview of the features of Canva, it is time to start importing our images that we shot
together to the program, and I'm going to
show you exactly how to edit the pictures. We're going to be discussing
about changing the colors, changing the brightness,
the exposure, the light, replacing the background,
and all of the AI features available to Canada that you can apply to your
photographs, right? So let's load Canva. Let me show you exactly what I'm talking about. So it's
very straightforward. I just drag and drop the
image that I've sourced, and you can see it
right here and you can also see it in the
upload section. So in the upload section,
I have all of my images. I already imported them because I added them in the
presentation and presented to the previous
lesson of the squares. And again, we can select each and every one of the
images that we drag into up because they automatically upload into the software, right? So this is the image right here, and you can see we have now
the background and our image. So how do we go
ahead and edit this? First of all, we can increase or decrease its size from here. We can actually make it sizable. I think this is perfect, right? Now, how do we edit this? You can see that when
we click on this image, this menu pops up
and we can edit it. We can remove the
background immediately, and we can change the
borders of the image, and, of course, the transparency
of the image, right? We can also animate it.
We don't care about animations for the
sake, again of this. Creation because we're
creating thumbnails. So the first and easiest
thing that you can do is obviously
remove the thumbnail. It is very straightforward, and it's actually one
of the coolest features of the program. You can see that I click
on background remover, and if your image is shot
correctly and lit correctly, just like this image right here, you can see that it flawlessly
removes the background. And, trust me, back in the day, it was so hard to remove backgrounds from
images because you need to zoom in and
go frame by frame and just zoom in
and with the clip, toll just select your
subject, manually. But now everything's
done with AI. This is so cool and
so straightforward. And again, I've been
using this for years, and I still can't
believe it's happening. So how do we change the
colors of this image, right? Perhaps you want to do
some minor adjustments. So what you do is you go edit, right, and edit, you
click on adjust. So once you click on
Edit, you will see that we have this window right here. Right? And in this window, you have the magic studio in which you have the magic eraser. We can erase stuff,
the magic grab to grab some stuff,
again, using AI. When you see magic, it's
usually with the usage of AI. We can edit and change stuff, and we also can
expand images, right? So all of these are features. What I can try now, for example, is a magic eraser. And what I can try to erase
are these letters right here. Let me try to erase them again. You click on Ease,
you select them, and you just click on Ease. You can see that Canva
is analyzing the image. It doesn't always do a good
job, so you can try it again. Again, click on Ease
see how we can perform. Again, this just uses AI. So at this stage, you can see that it's actually
pretty primal. It doesn't work very good
in this case, right? But in general, I
want you to know that this works in like
scenarios in which you have, for example, a landscape
and you want to remove a lamp or
something, right? So this is the magic erase. But what we really care
about is a magic background, and it works perfectly, and that's what we want the
background remover, right? Now, you can apply some filters. I never use filters. I
never use these filters. You can apply some effects. I'm going to get back to you
in effects in just a second. And what we can do. And what I mostly do and I
use is this adjust tool. So once I click on Adjust, you can see that we
have this option to auto adjust our famil. And once we click on this, it just auto suggests you
the best scholars, you don't need to
study color theory and know how to color
get your images. It just automatically gives
you the best recommendations. But if I click on Command Z, which is the back button, the undo button, we're
going to do this, and we can just go ahead
and select them manually, so you can see I can change
the temperature here, right, the tint of the
image, the brightness. I always tend to brden
up my images a bit more. I always like to
decrease the contrast. I like to increase
the highlights, shadows, also, I
like to increase. Usually, the whites,
play with the image, see what works, see what doesn't
work, the blacks, right? You can get the vibrant, which is the color pretty
much of the image, and again, the color edit. So for example, cool thing
that you can do with Canva immediately is if
you want to change the color of the shirt of
your image of your subject, you can click on this color, which is immediately
identified by Canva as one of the primary colors
of this image right here, and you can change
the hue, right? Now, in this case, obviously, the whole image is a bit red. Right, so again, changes the
hue of the whole person. But if we select the exact same color
that can be found in this sweatshirt in this hoodie and cannot be found
in the skin tones, for example, of our
subject, we can, of course, just select
and change this color. So, for example, if he was
wearing a yellow hoodie, you couldn't see yellow anywhere in the skin tones of
this person, right? So yellow, for example,
we could easily teak. Now, these colors can also be found in the skin
tone of our subject. So that's why we can't say, just isolate them
and change them. You can change the sharpness, make it more sharp, more clear. You can change the
clarity again, make it more clear the vignette. And this is actually
a good adjustment. I'm very happy with
this adjustment. So when we go back, you will see that now we have
our ready adjusted subject. So what we did now is that, again, we grabbed our subject
from our image, right? We isolated it, and we
also changed its color. There are many tricks
that you can do actually with the
background removers. Let me actually show
you something else. Let's say that you
have your subject. Let me open a new
tab here, right? Let's say that you
have the Sami, right? There's something right
here, let me close this. So you have this tumbnil
and what you want to do is that you want to blur the
background even more, right? So you see the background
is already kind of blurry, but you want it more blurred. So how can you do this? Very, very simple. You make this image, your whole frame, just
like this, right? And what we do now is that
we right click Duplicate. So now we have a
duplicated image, and these two images
are exactly the same. And once we click,
right, click, right, click on any of our
images and click on Layer show layers, you will see that now you can see different
layers that we have. So we have layer
one and layer two. And at this point, both of these two layers are
completely identical, right? So once we get to tweak these layers, check
what we're going to do. Right, click on the
first layer, right? Set image as background. So now if again, right click and go to layers,
let me show you something. Right click. Let me
see. Let me see. Okay, so we can't see
the layers actually, because we only have the
background and layer number one. But if I add another image, you will see that what
I wanted to prove is pretty much that this
is a background, and this is layer number one. Okay, actually, let me
detach the image from the background to
prove my point here. So you can see that
we have two images. I do not want you to be
worried about the background. You have two images that
are exactly identical. So what I'm going
to be doing is that we're going to be aligning them, right, one on top of the other. And now you click on the image, and you click on
Background remover. So now the background of this
image is removed, right? And you can't see
a difference here. But if you click on right
click Layer show layers, you will see that
the first layer is just the subject
because we have Again, isolated the subject from the background with a
background remover tool, and the second layer
actually is the background, but you can really
see it because again, we have the first layer
on top of it, right? So check this out. What we can do is that we
can click, right? We can drag this a bit because this is the first
layer steel, right? This is the first
layer of our subject. If we align them now, right? You can click here and decrease the first layer in order for us to select
the second layer. And while selecting
the second layer, we go to edit, right? While selected, like the layer that has both our subject
and the background. We go to edit, we
go to blur, right? Whole image, and we blur the
whole image just like this, even more, right? So
now check this out. If you go to back, you will see that we can drag this
first layer of ours. And just like that, we have only blurred
the background. Can you see this? We
have only blurred the background and
not our subject. This is how we managed to blur the background even more, right? So this is just a cool way
for you to apply this. Now, back into
editing our image, I showed you how to
edit the colors. I showed you how to
remove the background. Now it is time for
me to show you how to create a thumbnail
by yourself. So now we know how to detach our subject from the
background, right, and just change the color and transparency of our subject. It is time to edit the first type of thumbnail in which we're not going to be
messing with the templates, and we're not going
to be messing with the thumbnil templates that I am also going to
be giving you as extras. In this course we're going
to be doing is that we're going to be creating a
thumbnail from scratch. So we're going to be
sourcing our background. We're going to be
adding our subject, we're going to be
adding some titles, and we're going to be
creating a thumbnail completely from scratch. This will be the hardest type of thumbnail for you to create. And at the end of the
day, if you master the creation of this thumbnail, you will see that all
of the other famils we're going to be creating
are going to be very, very easy for you to understand. So more information on
how to create a famil 0-100 in the next
lesson of the scores.
10. Adding Depth & Pop to Thumbnails: Jamin, I would like
to welcome you to this lesson of the course. Now, in this lesson after we've analyzed what happens when you import an image and how to manipulate your main subject, how to detach it
from the background, and then if you wish, how to blur the background
while keeping your subject in focus completely artificially
inside of Canva, I'm going to show you two ways to create two
different thumbnails, again, from scratch without
using any template, right? This is going to be the
best way for you to understand how thumbnail
design works, because again, when we use templates,
we already use, let's say premade, obviously, templates, images,
titles, and stuff. So it's not to get a circular understanding
on how famil design works. Now, in these two examples that I'm going to be
giving you today, the most important
thing for you to understand is that a
thumbnail and in general, any image has layers, right? The first layer is
the foreground. The second layer is
our main subject, and the third layer
is the background. And we as Tamil designers, we get to manipulate each
one of these layers. So I want you to have in
mind that in general, the different parameters
you can tweak in a thumbnal are
the foreground, your main subject,
and the background. And the more that we, let's say, enhance the separation between the foreground,
the main subject, and the background, the more
depth add between them, right, it's just going to make our thumbnail look
more interesting. So in this lesson right here, I'm going to show you
some cool ways to separate your main subject
from your background. Just like, for example,
one of these ways would be to blur out
your background. And again, some ways to add
depth to your foreground. So let's get started. So as you can see, right here,
we have our main subject. From the previous
thumbnail design we did. We completely isolated our main subject
from the background, and what we're going to be
doing is that in a new page, I'm actually going to be
importing a new thumbnail, a new shot that we have
for our main subject. So this, again, is Again, the subject with the
building background that he has in his office, and what I'm going
to show you now is a very cool way to
enhance, again, the visibility of your subject and just separate the
subject from the background, which is one of the key things
we're going to be doing. So what you're going
to be doing is that you're going
to be duplicating, again, your image
right here, right? And we will be, again, removing the background from
the second image of ours. Again, if I click, if I right
click and I click on Layer, so layers, you will
see that we have the background and
our two layers. And, of course, the
background is white. So this first layer
acts as a background. The second layer is
the one that we're going to be manipulating.
So check this out. I click on background remover. And you will see that the background is
completely removed. And if I click again on right
click Layer, so layers, you will see that
the first layer is just our subject
without the background. So check out what we can do now. We can simply, all right, just move our first layer. This is the first
layer of our subject, move it right here. So we're able to select the
second layer, the back layer. And now we go to
edit and in edit, we go to adjust and in adjust, we can decrease the brightness, right, or increase the contrast. But usually, what we
do is just we decrease the brightness. The
exposure, right? So this is how we pretty
much, as you can see, we decrease the brightness of our background
while maintaining, if you can see the subject. So this is just one way, if you will, to separate your subject from
the background. Another thing you can do
in the same exact edit is completely kill the saturation and the vibrance of
your background. So check this out. Doesn't
this look more engaging? Right? So what do we do here? Again, we pretty much decreased the brightness and
isolated the colors from the background
while keeping our subject in focus and
with its normal colors. So this is like the first way, again, to separate your
subject from background. We completely
separate the subject, so we completely
remove the background. The second way is to
decrease the vibrance, decrease saturation
of our background, so we have this result right here, and guess
what you can do. Now you can go by clicking
on your main subject. You can go to edit,
right, adjust, and you can actually apply some more adjustments to your main subject to
make it more vibrant. Right? And just color correct your main subject to
make it look better. So as you can see, that's what we did,
increase the vibrance, increase saturation just a bit because he's
wearing lots of colors. And this, I think, is perfect. So this was a second way, again, to separate our main
subject from the background. Let me show you another cool way not to separate the subject
from the background, but to add stuff
in the foreground. So let's add again an image
of our let's say subject. Let's add again this
image right here, right? So this is the image right here. What we're going to
be doing is again, right click, all right,
duplicate right here. Let me close this
tab. Real fast. Right, click Duplicate. So this image is now duplicated. And we perform background
remover in the first one exactly as we did
the previous time. Let me click on this. Great. So the
background is removed. If I go here layer show layers, the background is removed. I just decrease the size of the first layer of our subject in order to be able to
click on the second layer. And on the second layer,
I go to Edit blur, and I kind of click
on the whole image, and I just kind of blur
it there, for example, just a bit, just a bit, nothing crazy, right?
So let's go back now. All right. Great.
So you can see that now the background is more blurred than it
should be normally. So what we can do
now is that we can click on our main subject again. Again, did you
understand what we did? We went to layer, if
I go to show layers. We separated again our main
subjects from the background, and we blurred our background
just a bit, right? Just a bit, not that much
because we don't want too much artificial blur because it doesn't
feel too natural. So what we're going to be
doing now is we're going to be clicking on our main subject again and just applying some basic color corrections
as we always do. So increase the brightness,
decrease the contrast, increase the
highlights just a bit, probably also increase
the shadows, right? So we don't want in general, our famils to be our
main subject of famils to be that contrast can
also do is increase a bit of vibrance and so
you can see the values right here and you can
copy them to your image. All right, so check
this out now. Now, we have a certain level of separation between our
subject and our background, and now it is time to also
separate our foreground. So what do we do now?
We go to elements, and it is time to add
our first element. And again, here you can
search for everything. You can search for airplane, for example, you will see that you're going to have
photos of airplanes. You can search for sun and you will see you
can have photos of Sun. So literally, whatever
you think of, you can find in
the elements dab. But what we're going to be
searching for at this point is the so called white shadow. So if you click on White
shadow and you go to graphics, you will see all of these. I don't know if you
can see them right now because it's
screen recording, and it doesn't really
show but check this out. If I click on the
first white shadow, you will see that
this pops up in our screen, right?
And what is this? The first graphic,
the first element that we will be adding. So check something
very cool out. What I love to do
in my thumb meals. For example, it is my
creative approach, and I absolutely love this. So I take this wide shadow right here and increase its size. I increase, increase,
increase the size, make it huge, right? And what I do is that I take it, and I usually place
it on the top left. Of my image. So
right there, right? And I place one white shadow
in the top left of my image. I duplicate this, and I place one white shadow in the bottom
right of my image, right? Now, this in general,
in your eyes, might sound very random, right, and not that important. But what we did here is that we introduced a blurred out shape, a blurred out graphic. ****. But what we did here is that we introduced a completely blurred out shape, a completely blurred out graphic
that acts as foreground. And it just adds to the
separation of the foreground, the main subject, and the
background because we didn't have foreground
up until now. But now these act as foreground, and they just introduce the element of
depth to our image. So you can see foreground,
main subject, background. We introduced more
separation here. You want to see another
cool way to separate your main subject from the
foreground and the background. If we duplicate this
page, check this out. Let's add one of these.
You can see this. This is our huge
white shadow, right? In very simple way,
in a very simple way, what we can do is that
in order to separate our main subject from our
background and our foreground, what we want to do is
that we just want to enhance this effect
of separation. And you can do this by
simply placing one of these white shadows
behind your main subject. So again, you source
white shadow from here, you place it in the
middle of your frame, right, click layer, show layers, and you can see you have all of these layers
right here, right? So check what
happens when I drag this shadow layer behind my main subject.
Do you see this? And just as simple as that, we separated our main
subject even more. Now, this might be
too much, right? This might be too much,
and it makes sense. So what if we want to
potentially decrease, you know, how bright
this white shadow is? And by the way, this could
work as a thumiT could work as a thumbnil because there's
never too much for a thumil. But what if we just
want to, let's say, decrease how vibrant
this white shadow is. So you can see that
if I crop down my main subject behind
it is this white shadow. So if I click on the shadow,
and I go to transparency. You can see that I can actually check how much transparent. I want my white
shadow to be slits, add transparency, say
60% rather than 100%. So now if I click
on my main subject again and drag it
across my screen, you'll see just as
simple as that, we have our main subject even more separated from
our background. And here is the other
shadow that we added, right on the bottom right, I can duplicate this, right? I can add the other
one in the top left. And as simple as that, we created this new background
from our main subject. How cool is that, right? And I don't think that it
was that complicated. At the end of the day,
what we did is that we introduced the element
of white shadow. We learned how to
manipulate again, and how to pretty much enhance this dislocation of
our main subject, the background, and
the foreground while using the white shadow graphics. As you can see, this is
the famila we created, and obviously,
it's not done yet. We have many elements
to add, right? This is the second
fumble in which we just added these
shadows and we blurred the background even
more without adding a white shadow behind
our main subject. And you can see that in my opinion, this tamel
looks better, right? Then we have this famil in which we completely, let's say, decrease the vibrance,
decrease saturation from our background in order to make our main subject
pop even more. And of course, the thumb
right here in which there is absolutely no background. So all of these are
ways to separate your subject from
your background and your foreground, right? Now, what we're
going to be doing in the next lesson
of the scores. Now that we understand proper separation of our main subject, our foreground and
the background, is that we're going
to be starting to add more graphics and more titles completely manually to start enhancing
our thumbnails with, again, graphics, photographs,
titles, and all that stuff. So more information about how to enhance our thumbnails
even more with visual representation of what
we're talking about in the video's going to be happening in the next lesson
of the scores.
11. Designing Thumbnails from Scratch: Ladies and gentlemen, in
this lesson of the course, again, as we mentioned in the conclusion of
the previous lesson, we're going to be
discussing about pretty much all of the different
elements you can add to your thumbnails regardless
of subject separation. So in this ngin we're
going to be discussing about adding graphics,
adding titles, and enhancing the
visual elements of your thumbil
even more to make it more persuasive and to intrigue the interest
of your viewers. So let's get right into it. Now, we discussed about, again, obviously, main
subject separation. We're not going to
be doing this in this tutorial right here. We're going to be adding
right, a new image. So I'm going to be again, performing this tutorial
completely from scratch. And we have our
image right here. So the first thing that
we can obviously do, and I always recommend
you to do is to perform some kind of
background separation. So let's duplicate this, right, and just simply remove
the background from our subject exactly as we did in the previous lesson
of this course. Now we're going to be
clicking on our background and editing it just to
decrease the brightness, right, and potentially
also the contrast and the saturation and
the vibrance, right? Very, very simple stuff as
we did previously, right? Now let's make our main again, subject on the size, right? We edit it, adjust, and let's just add
the brightness. Exactly what we did pretty much in the previous
lesson, right? So we have, again, just some very basic color correction in
our main subject, and I'm also going to be adding
some vibrance right here. Great. So we are now at 0.0. Now, let's say, for
the sake of this video that this thomle right here goes for a video that
is titled notion, let's say, five notion, tips and tricks for
beginners, right? So what we want to do is
that we want to obviously add the image of notion somewhere in
our thumbnial, right? And also potentially also add a title inside our
thumbial, right? So text inside rhumal saying five notion,
tips and tricks. So, how are we gonna
be doing this? We're going to go elements. And right, search for notion. Now, we're not sure if Canva has the notion logo,
let's say, installed. Probably not at this point. It has some graphics,
but yeah, okay cool. So Canva does not
collaborate with Notion. We don't have the notion logo. So what we can basically do
is that we open a new tab, search for notion,
and in notion, we go to images. This is notion logo, right? So I can open this, right? Wait for it to load. Okay, or maybe this one. Okay. Anyways, I can drag
and drop it into my desktop. And now from my desktop, I can drag and drop
it into Canva. So this is the
notion logo, right? Now, what I can do when
this image is uploaded, which it just concluded
being uploaded, I can click on it and select
background remover, right? And now it removed
the background. That being said, as you can see, it didn't only remove
the background, but it also removed
part of the logo. So what we're going to
do to fix this is again, we click on Edit and we select the background remove
to restore it, right? So as you can see, I can
slide my mouse above it. I can increase also
the brush size to restore the
removed background. So there is always whenever,
let's say in Canva, you do a small mistake
or you utilize the AI features of Canva and
you don't like something, there is always a
way to restore this. So you can see, we just restored
the logo looks perfect. And here it actually doesn't look perfect because
we also need to restore the other side
of it, and we can do it. Oops restore, restore
from here. Let's say. So we restore all of this, and it's actually
already restored. The problem is that the
background is actually dark. So if I go back, you can see that this is,
let's say, the notion, the notion logo, what
we can do is that, again, the problem here is that notion logo is dark, right? And the background
here is also dark. So the first thing
we're going to do is that we're
going to try to add some separation between the notion logo and
the background. How can we do this? My
favorite way to do this is by adding a white shadow, right? I want you to use the
White shadow graphic. It's one of the best
graphics. So I click on it. You can see that
this is the graphic right here, the white shadow. We can increase the
size and place it just above our notion logo.
So what do we do now? Exactly the same
thing that we did to separate our subject
from the background, while utilizing the white
shadow graphic, right? Right, click on it, click
on Layer, show layers, and we drag it behind
our notion layer, right? So if I release now, you can see that
the notion is lit. And just like that, we have
awesome layer separation. And I'm very happy
with this result. So you can see what we have
our subject separated from the background and our
main theme of the video, which is notion, obviously. So let's say now that I want to decrease, right notion, right? I want to place it right
here, for example, and decrease it a bit or make
it a bit smaller because I also want to add a title
right here, right? But I also want to attach this white shadow
to my notion logo. So how do we do
this? First of all, I increase the size of
the notion logo, right? And what I do is while pressing
Command in my keyboard, I click on both the notion let's say graphic
or image that I added and the background
layer of my white shadow. So now I click on group, and suddenly these two
assets are grouped together. Did you understand
what we did here? So we grouped two
assets together. So every time that I want
to decrease, for example, the size of notion, the size of the white shadow
also decreases. And as you can imagine, this is very helpful because
we don't need to do the same job two
times and three times. It's as simple as
that. So right here, for example, we have
our notion logo. As simple as that.
And now what is left is for us to add a title. And the title that
I want to add is a title that says with
big letters, five tricks. So we add a heading, right? I think white is
the perfect font for this heading right here. And we change this to
five tips and tricks. Five tips and tricks,
as simple as that. Now, what I don't really
like with this, right? Is or five tips and tricks. You could do this like
on one row right here, that potentially also
could decrease it. Now, check this out. If
you want to move into the next level of famil
design, check this out. You see that behind our title, which we say five
tips and tricks, there's this white, let's say, out of focus text in the
monitor of our main subject. So what we want to do now is potentially make this title of ours more vibrant.
So how can we do this? I can click on the title, right, and I can go to effect. And the title effect, you can see that I can apply
all of these effects. I can have a neon effect, a glitch effect, a non effect. But what I really
like do is that I love to add background. And what I want to in this case, because you can see
that we're really keeping the characteristics of this image right here
black and white, because we have the black
and white notion logo, we have the black
and white title. I want to keep it
black and white. So what we're going to be
doing is that I'm going to do the color of the
background to white. And obviously, now, right, you can't see anything because both our text color is white and the background
color of the text is white. So I can click on it completely blindly, select everything. You can see that the
text is still there. It's just the same color
as the background. Go here, right, to the place in which we select the
different colors of our title and click on black. So just like that, what
did we do here exactly? Do you see how more
vibrant this title feels? Alright, how more
vibrant this title feels like just because we
added this white background. And those obviously, you know, those are things
that you wouldn't know if you didn't have
experience with thumbnails. For example, another thing
that I know immediately from my experience with
thumbnails is that we have lots of dead
space here, right? And we're doing just
brainstorming here. I'm thinking of this as
editing the thumbnail. We have lots of dead space here. And this is dead space we
want to utilize somehow. We could actually position our main subject a
bit more to the left. But check what happens when I position my main
subject to the left. You can side I have a main subject also
in the background, which is just blurred out. With our background. So
we don't want to do this. We want to position
everything more to the left. So how will do that, right? You need also some
ingenuity, right? You need to be creative
to do this. I showed you a way to group
two assets together. That's exactly what we're
going to be doing right now. So I'm going to be decreasing the size of our main subject, right, in order for
us to be able to group these two together,
to select them together. We want to select our main
subject and our background. So I'm going to click
on our main subject, click Control in my keyboard. And now, once we do this, I click on group. And now these two assets are grouped together.
So check this out. Now, let me actually decrease the Okay,
let me ungroup them. So I just don't want
this first one, that group right there, right? So I click on our subject. I click on the background
while clicking Command, and now I group them together. And once I group them together, you can see that
I manipulate them and I can place them
wherever I want. So now I can make this
image even bigger, right? So I'm making both
images bigger. Both the image of our separated main subject
and its background, I'm just placing it right here. So what did we do? Did you understand what
we did right here? We just eliminated this way, we completely eliminated
the dead space, right, we had on the
left side of our frame. So now we have more
space here to work with our titles and the logos
that we will be adding. So now I can make the
style even bigger to draw the eye of the
viewer, right, right here. Make the style even bigger. I can make this
logo even bigger. Right? How cool is that? This, for example, would be
a good thumb meil, right? Do you understand how we did everything artificially
inside of notion. And that's, I think
the coolest thing. Another protein that I have for you is that you want in general, the text of your title to be in the same level of the
eyes of your subject. So as you can see,
if I draw a line between the eyes of my subject, and the text, they are aligned. This means that, again, everything is in the
same again, alignment. And because the human
eye, inevitably, when you see a thumb,
your human eye directly goes to the eyes of the subject of
your thumbnail. It's good to have text
right next to the eye. So the human eye, again,
directly also views the text after seeing the subject of
your thumb and the eyes. Now, there are many more things that we can do and we can
apply corrections to this. It really comes down into how creative you
want to be with it. For example, one thing that
you can do is that you can just add five as a
dial here, right? Because, again, how we read is that we read from left to
right and from top to bottom. So what you can do, for
example, is to add five, then notion next to it. Right? And then we duplicate this because we
don't want to be importing a new title and then creating a background from this title and changing all of the colors. We just duplicate the title
we want to replicate, right? Five notion, right? Tips and Tricks. Don't
worry about this. We can simply change the layout
of our titles right here. Five notion tips. Whoops. Is Okay, five notion. Let's see this thing. This is perfect right here, five notion tips and tricks. All right? This is
also another approach that you can have for
this Tamil right here. So it really comes down to how creative you want
to be with, again, the positioning of the text and the logos in your
thumbnails, right? Now, you pretty much know, like, at this point of the scores, how to create thumils
from scratch by yourself. And I want to congratulate
you because this was by far, the hardest thing that
you needed to learn. You will see now that editing the templates that are
going to be important in the next lesson and
creating awesome famils while utilizing the
power of these already, like, pre made
templates of Canva is going to be just so,
so easy for you. And the coolest thing is
that once you understand in the next lesson how to edit the already made templates
inside of Canva, when I hand you out in
the lesson after that, the templates, provided as a downloadable resource
below the scores right here, you will see that your
thumbnail game will be just elevated
in the sky, right? So, thank you for being here. This was the hardest
part of the scores. And then in the next lesson, I'm going to show
you how to edit pre made elements
from Canada to just help your thumbnail design
life so, so, so much, right? So I'm gonna see you
in the next lesson.
12. Quick Edits with Canva Templates: Ladies and gentlemen,
congratulations for making it through the
hardest point of the scores. Now, from now on, all
the thumil creation, again, principles we're going to be discussing are going to be very, very easy because we're
going to be utilizing the power of premade templates, again, to elevate our
thumbnail design process. Now, in this lesson right here, we're going to be using the
templates inside of Canvas. So the already pre installed
templates inside of Canvas that you can use regardless of if you have the free version
or the paid version. Now keep in mind that
the paid version of Canva is about ten
bucks a month. It's really worth it if
you're a creator, by the way, to pay ten bucks a month to have access to all of
these resources. You can have video,
stock videos, images, all these homial
design principles that we're going to
be applying and all of let's say graphics that templates are going
to be completely for free. Okay, if you pay ten bucks a month, it's absolutely worth it. It's one of these tools that I absolutely urge
people to purchase and to opt in if you guys are serious
with content creation. And if in general,
you want to discover more things about Canva, I urge you to check out the 2025 complete Canva master class that I released a few
weeks ago in this, again, profile of
mine right here. So I'm very happy
to have you here. Let's analyze how to
utilize the power of Canva templates to elevate
our thumil design. So here we are, and these are all of the familes
we've created. Okay, up until
this point, all of the principles
that we discussed, which led up to this famil
of ours being created. Now, how do we utilize
these templates? You can either add a new page right here or you can directly go to the template staab and browse all of the
different templates. Now, in this case, different
designs. I'm sorry. So in this case, we're going to be doing is we're
going to be checking out and we're going to
be hovering our mouse above all of these designs and see what perfectly fits the type of video that
we're trying to create. So let's say, for example,
we want actually to create a let's think of a cool title of a video five
productivity hacks, right? So we want our subject. You can see that we have
all of these subjects. So we're looking for a template, a design that would
already fit us. For example, right? We would probably
look for a thumbnail with more earthy
tones, nothing crazy. This would be a good thumbnail,
for example, right here. So whenever I see
something that I like, whenever I see a
thumbnel that I like, and I think that it would fit the type of video that
I'm trying to create, I click on it, right,
and I source it. So we just sourced it. Let's try to source two or three different designs so
we can work on that. For example, you can
see that right here, once we source a thumbnail, Canva automatically
suggests other designs that are similar to the
one that we source. For example, if we're
talking about productivity, this right here could
also be a good design. Let's add a new page,
and let's keep sourcing and keep sourcing so we have
more things to work with. Right? Let's go back
and keep sourcing. What we can also do is that we can search on the
keywords right here. For productivity, right? Productivity. And let's see
which templates we have. So we have these templates,
these templates. These are all good
templates right here, which we can really utilize. What I want to do is that
because we have these images of our subject because
we show these images, I want to see
thumbnails in which the subject is in a
similar positioning, right, and not very far away. So for example, this work
this could also work. Let's actually source
this one, right? So this could also work. Okay, and I think
this would be enough. So how would we go through to change these
tamales right here? It's very simple. So we already have, let's say, a background separation, a foreground separation
and all that stuff. So what we're going to be
doing is that pretty much, we're going to be clicking on uploads if we want to
source our subject again. And let's see which one of these images that we have created works perfectly
with the stand right here. So we want an image
of our subject being secure, for example, and being confident because we're talking about
a productivity, let's say, tutorial on YouTube. So we obviously don't
want our subject to be um bad or something. Potentially we could do this actually in the second video, right? So let's see. I think that this image
would work perfectly, right? You can see the layers
are kind of messed up. So let me click on
right, click Layer, show layers and bring
this right here. So make this the
first layer, right? So now we make this Second, we make this even bigger. From here, we make
this bigger, right? And we do the very
common principle of removing the
background, right? So the background seems
like it is removed. But actually, you can
see that it didn't do a great job removing the background because
we have these two, say, ears from the chair. To ways to change this, you either go to magic
eraser, you click. Right, you click on
click and you pretty much select or actually. No, it can do can be done
with the magic eraser. Potentially with the brush. Oh, the magic eraser isn't
to erase stuff, actually. So it's good to magic
remover, right, erase, and we can
select the brush. And with the brush, okay, we can go through and erase manually the
chair behind our subject. Sometimes, you know, sometimes
this is actually needed. Potentially, I can zoom in. So we can zoom in from here, decrease the brush size, just to go into
the details here. And listen, at some point in
your family career in Canva, you will have a failure
of a background removal. And there are two
ways to tackle this. The first one is to
try it again, right? And the second one
is just manually restore all of the problems. And back in the day,
keep in mind that when I was editing
thumbnails, because, again, I've been a congregator
for many years now back in the day before all of
these AI applications. So a small mistake here
at Prince Command Z, and we can source
everything back. Back in the day, you
know, I used to do all of these things like
completely manually. So I'm actually like, it's not my first time
editing a thumbnail, let's say, completely manually. Right now for the sake of
this tutor right here, I'm not going to go
into huge detail on how I remove the background, like, manually of the subject,
but you get the point. So again, here, you
know, all the grooves. Make sure you just
delete everything. And of course, the other way to do this is that we
could source it again. We could import our thumbnail again and ask the background
to be removed one more time. That being said, Okay, I think this looks good for
demonstrative purposes. You get the point.
So let's also do it here, right? Right here. Cool. Great. So this
is our subject. Now, we're facing a
series of problems, which, of course, we
are called to solve. The first one is that the title is on the left side
of the screen, whereas our subject is pointing on the right
side. Two ways to do this. We either select the title and we group everything
together, right? So from here, group, bring everything to the
left to the right side, and then move our
subject to the right, or we need to flip our subject. Before we flip our subject,
let me go ahead and edit it. So I'm going to edit, adjust, increase the brightness, right? The typical things that
we did previously, I just want the subject
to be well lit. So we increase the brightness, we decrease the contrast,
just a bit there. Let me also increase
the vibrance a bit. Perfect, right? So here we are. Two ways to again, position our famil correctly. The first one is to have our
subject here and title here. The second one is to
flip our subject. Before we do that,
let's check this out. So as you can see,
the background, we need to detach it as an image because we
don't want this subject. We want to replace the
subject with ours. So I detach this image from
the background, right? And now we do not have
to use this image. So we can delete this, and now the background
is completely deleted. Check this out.
Now, what do we do? We want our subject to be
pointing in the title. So I click on it, click on flip flip horizontal,
there you go. Our subject is now
pointing in the tile. Now, as a thumbnail
designer, multiple times, you will be asked to
solve some of let's say, multiple micro problems,
as I like to call them. A micro problem
that we're having in the case of this tumble right here is the fact
that you can see that the background removal
wasn't as successful. And the problem here is that
you can kind of see like a background that
isn't perfectly removed. So how
do we solve this? This happens due the fact that our background
is completely white, and it just makes a huge
contrast with our subject. So what I would like to do
now is to go, for example, on elements and search for
gray background, right? If you go to photos,
you will have all of these different gray
backgrounds here. Let me click to source one for, let's say, demonstrative
purposes here. You can see we have
this gray background. What I really like to do, right, is that I like to add this as
the background of my image, so make it large and add
this as a background. So set image as a background. Click on the background
again, potentially go to edit, right? Blur, and I also like to blur my background a bit,
just a bit right there. So what do we do now, right? We just decreased, let's say, the huge contrast between our
subject and the background. And if you want to
decrease it even more, we can go ahead and
edit the background. Furthermore, by decreasing
its brightness. So you can see that
as I'm decreasing, let's say the brightness
of our background. So for example, now
we have, let's say, maximal contrast between our
subject and the background. Now, it's more minimal. And if you want to
change the phone to something more vibrant,
you can click on this. Right, go here, make
it white, right? So change the color
and all that stuff. So let's make this
also white right here. So how to be a minimalist, this could work as a thumbnail. The same thing can be
applied in the second one. So, for example, what
is work life balance? You can see we have
this lady right here with what is
work life balance? Now, we can change
obviously this to how to be more productive. Right? So we just changed
the style to what we want. And you can see that we
have the same fonts, and it's already proven these designs were
made by professionals. It's already proven
that this phone with this background and this
animation rate here, and this, I'll see YouTube. Video. How to be more
productive, right? It's proven that all
of these assets and all these elements
that were added in the tamale rate here
work perfectly. So we don't need to
stress about this works, if it doesn't work. So the first thing we do whenever we source
a design is that we completely remove
the main subject, and now it's time to source
one of our subjects, right? So we have all of these
subjects that we could directly copy and paste for
previous tamales of ours. But we can also go to upload and start sourcing this one,
for example, right? We make this image a bit larger and I go ahead and
remove the background, right? So the background
is removed. We have the same issue right here. Right, with the head of the
chair not being removed. And this again happened with
the fact that our subject didn't shoot the images with the principles
that I told you. So if you can recall, in the beginning of the course, I gave you some examples on
how to shoot your thumails and I told you that
we need separation between yourself
and the background. So we need clear separation
wear different colors, right, because if our
subject you when we photograph our thumbils
and when we produce the images isn't separated
from the background, then potentially in the
background removal, let's say, process, we might
have some problems. That being said, this thumbnail
actually isn't that bad. You can see we had our subject in this pose being
kind of stressed. You can see his mind
is kind of cluttered, and now this title also says
how to be more productive. And paired with a
great YouTube title, this could also be
a good thumbnail. Right here, for example, again, what we could do is that
we can immediately delete our subject and start
uploading another, let's say, d photo of ours. So we upload this photo. We go ahead and
remove the background of our subject immediately,
and now check this out. It did us a favor
and removed also the um the chair, right? So what we can do now, go ahead
and flip flip horizontal, lace it right here, right, and check this
out. There you go. The thumbnail is
done already, right? So just like that, it's
so easy to edit with already premade
thumbnails, right? So top productivity hacks
for, let's say, creators. So you can see that already, all of the titles are pre made, all the assets are premade, the colors are premade, what
I would do in this case, that I would potentially also change the color
of the background. Let me actually go back, back. I would potentially change the color of the
background simply because you can see that
he wears a red shirt, right, because I know
that we want to have our colors in general in our
thumbnails to be contrasted, especially between the
background and our main subject. And I know that green is
a contrasty color to red. So what I would do
is they would add one of these greens,
for example, right here, something light
just like here, right? And of course, you can go,
click on your subject, go to edit, adjust right, and start adjusting these typical adjustments
that we always, let's say, do increase the vibrance a bit, just
like that, right there. Right? So this is also a
thumbnail. So check this out. Just in 10 minutes, we created like one thumbnail,
two thumbnail. We didn't even edit this,
so you can go ahead and just edit this
thumbnail again. You can see. I always
increase the subject. I increase the brightness,
I decrease the contrast. I increase the highlights. I increase the
shadows just a bit, and I also increase
the vibrance, and this is how I like
the color correct very, very fastly. So check this out. Famil one, famil
two, just like that. Famil three, famial four. And all of these we created
in such a short amount. Time. Now, these were the already
made designs inside of Canva. Now, in the next
lesson, you're going to be absolutely amazed
because I'm going to show you how to edit the templates that I'm providing you in this
course right here. You can find in the resources
page of the course. I'm very happy to
have you here, right? And the fun part of this whole
famial design process and the coolest part of this again whole family design
process begins right now. So I'm going to see you in the
next lesson of the scores.
13. Editing the Bonus Thumbnail Template: Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to welcome you to the final
lesson of the scours, in which I'm going to show
you how to apply all of the different Tamil principles
that we discussed in all of the previous lessons
of the course to the final template
that I'm going to be giving you again
in the resources tab of the scores right here. Now, once you enter this template completely
for free again, you will have access to the
different selections of thumbnails that we also
analyzed in one of the first lessons of the scores. Now it is time that we actually go ahead and
import our subjects, right, and we get to
tweak these thumbnails. Our preference. So this is exactly what we're doing in
this final video right here. You will see that by
the end of this video, everything will make sense. We will be able to
connect all of the dots. And again, by leveraging all of the different family principles that we discussed about and you leveraged and you made sure to understand
it's going to be so easy to create
flawless thumbnails in this conclusive episode of
this course right here. So I'm very happy
to have you here. Let's launch Canva, let me show you exactly what
I'm talking about. So this right here
is, of course, the preface once you enter
the template that I gave you, all of these are the
different templates, and we've been through
these templates, we already analyzed them, you can have these
are the subjects we're going to be replacing. And let's actually go
ahead and create again, exactly each and every single
one of these thumbnailes. We're going to start with
the templin right here. So how do you go ahead and and edit this
template exactly as we edited the different
designs right previously in this
again, course. You go ahead and delete
the main subject, which obviously it's
like this P and G. So it's just here for demonstrative purpose to show you where your
subject should go. You go ahead and delete this. Right? And in the upload stub, you will see that
you have all of those images that you saw. And again, you try to find an image that perfectly
fits this occasion. In our case, we
could leverage this, for example, right here, right? And in this case, the
first thing we do always is that we
remove the background. So the background is removed. We make this image
bigger, right? So right here, for example,
I think this is perfect. Let's not get out his top
of the head right here. I would place this. I would
place this right here. What is the first
thing we would do? Because in this, again,
conclusive lesson of the scores, I'm going to show you
how to create the best, absolute best thumils that
you could have in this case. So we would edit this, right? And of course, start
with the adjustments, increase the
brightness, decrease the contrast, increase
the highlights, increase the shadows,
right, just a bit, increase the vibrance,
we might even increase the highlights a bit more. And you already see that we had a good we already have
a good separation between our subject and the
background just because the background
is completely dark and our subject is actually
w more color for clothes, he's wearing a red hooding. So again, obviously, I'm
not asking you to edit the stamla right
here if you don't have a video that
applies to the Samuel. So for example, this graphic right here is a stock
going downwards, and this graphic is a
stock going upwards. So we're here to compare
to different things. So this mostly applies to
a Finance YouTube channel. That being said, we
have the ability to change this right here. So, for example,
even if it's like some productivity or self
improvement channel, you could go like less, for example, sugar, right? In your food, if you're
talking about, let's say, a video between what you should eat for
optimal productivity, you can decrease
sugar levels, right? Sugar, copy this,
paste it. All right? That's sugar levels. Right? Let me just
put this here. Decrease the size a bit. So down sugar levels up protein. For example, I'm just giving you some random examples,
helping you brainstorm. This doesn't only, let's say, apply for Finance
YouTube channels, right? So this is something that
you can do, for example. Hey. Okay, obviously, we don't measure sugar levels and
protein levels in stocks. I'm just giving you, let's say, ideas on how you
could leverage this. We don't really care about the context because the context, it's up to you to
apply to your channel. What we do care is
that, you know, that I absolutely
love separating my subject from the background, and it really makes a
difference in the fomules. Trust me. So let's go to elements, and you can also source the
white shadow from here because those are the latest
graphics that we used, or you can go here and
search white shadow. I absolutely love doing this. You add the white
shadow. You make it big. Right? So you increase the
size, you want in general, the size of the white
shadow to cover your core, at least, of your main subject. And we might also decrease
transparency just a bit because we already
have a very black, a very dark background, so we don't want it
to pop that much. So we go ahead and right
click Layers, show layers. And just like that, the
shadow is behind our again, main subject, and how much
better does this tumbel look. So just like that, we were able to edit our first template. And I think I'm very happy
with this result right here. I'm actually very happy
with this result. Let's move to the
next one, right? You can see you have
a papal notification, and this video could
be title, for example, how to make your first $3,000
online or how I was able to reach $3,000 with selling books or selling eBooks or
selling courses, right? So what we're going to
do we can remember what this already pre made famil
should look like a subject. So he tells us that
he wants a subject to be like this with
one hand showing, again, the screenshot,
revenue screenshot. And we can actually directly go ahead and copy this, right, delete this and right click paste it right
here, just like that. You will see that
as simple as that, if you have one of your
subjects already edited here, you can just paste it
in your template below. And if you want to take
things to the next level, you can also paste
the white shadow. I'm going to click on
the white chatter. You know that I
clicked it because I can manipulate it, right? Right click copy, right? Right, click Paste. And this is the white shadow. Now it pasted above
our main subjects. I'm going to click again, go to layer show layers. I'm just going to drag the white shadow behind
our main subject. And just like that, you have
this new famil right here. And this works just perfectly. Like having a black
background and being able to separate
your main subject from your black background
with a white shadow works perfectly every time.
And I'm very, very pleased. With this family right
here. Again, exactly as we did with the papal, which by the way, you can
manipulate and you can delete, I think, let me
help you with this. I just want to make these
layers on the side to show you. You can delete the stripe
and have the papal logo. For example, to be
more persuasive, and this is part of, like, the preset that I'm
giving you, right? And of course, we can go ahead and change what is
written inside the paper. You can change all of
this stuff, right? The next thing is this famil
right here. What is this? Oh, this is actually the white shadow from
the previous thumbnail. Yeah, it overlapped
our next thumbnail. It's fine, right? So let's actually decrease the size
of this white shadow. It's too much. I think great
here would be perfect. The next tubal is
this right here, and I'm just going to copy this subject and paste it below
because there's no point. Let me delete this
and let's source a thumbnail for myself.
So we go to upload. And let's see let's set,
actually this invention, which he's actually surprised,
right? Background mover. Let's see if he's going to
remove it or not, right? Yep, it actually removed also the seed regardless
from the fact that this wasn't a greatly
shot thumbnail. Right? So here we are, and you can
see that it perfectly like our main subject perfectly overlaps our graphic
that we have right here, which is absolutely amazing, and it just adds
lots of value to the creative standpoint
of your thumbnil. We increase the brightness, decrease the contrast,
increase the highlights, increase the shadows,
increase the vibrance. This is what I
really like to do. And just like that, this
thumbnail is always ready. So, for example,
you do not want to do a finance type of
thumbnail right here. Absolutely, no problem. Let's just crop down our
main subject so we get, again, edit our
graphic as possible. Let's say we want to have a video on sleep quality, right? So what you could do here
is you could go and type sleep quality because
many applications measure actually
the sleep quality. So you can add your plus, let's say, 2 hours, right? So again, it's just a graph. You can really get
very creative here. You can really get very,
very creative here. And make this bigger right here, good elements, add
the white shadow that we love to use, right? I think that this
would be perfect. I want to decrease a bit of transparency
from white shadow, right click layer, show layers, the white shadow below our
subject right here, right? And there are more
things we can do right? We can start adding
more elements. So for example, go to elements
and type slip. Right? If you go to graphics, you
will see you have all of these different slip graphics. You can add this,
for example, right? Make it small, add
it right here. In the sleep quality right here. But you can see, you
can add as many, again, as many
graphics as you want. There's literally no stop on how many graphics you can
add. So check this out. Look how fastly also, like, the speed of a
famil creation process. Absolutely amazing. We created all of these
professional looking thumuls in just minutes in
literally just minutes. In less than 10 minutes, we created all of
these thumbils. The same exact thing applies. So again, let's say we
don't want to be importing again and removing
the background and adding the white shadow, what you can do is
very straightforward. You can click on the
White shadow right here. You can click on your subject right here, right, 1 second. Click on the White
shadow, click on the subject. We select group. We right click Copy. And right here, we're
going to be simply Be deleting our main
subject, right click paste. And just like that
from one again, image to another, we pasted our main subject,
and guess what? In the previous demonstration, you can see that you can
see that the question was, like, overlapping our subject.
And we can also do this. So we can go right click
Layer, show layers, and you can just
drag your subject, which is grouped obviously with the white shadow
behind question. So now, question
overlaps, right? Did you see this? So this
was previously happen now. So previously now, question overlaps as simple as that.
Very, very basic stuff. And you know how to
always add your question. So, for example, how many
hours did you sleep. If we're talking about sleep or activity or something
like this, right? You got to get creative
with this, right? So how many hours or
how many sleep hours? Right? This is just another famila
we just created like this. You get the point, I'm
not going to get into too much detail and edit every single one of
these thumbnails. What I want to actually
show you is how to d one of these tumuls right here because these
thumbnails are very, very important and very, very vibrant, right,
and make difference. So these are the type of
famils that you want to be get manipulating by yourself. I think that you now know the principles on how
to manipulate them. I don't need to spend time going through every single
one of these thumbnails. But this, for example, would
be another cool thumil for you to edit, right? So we unlock it, and we go ahead and decrease, delete, for example,
the main subject. We can also delete or
let's keep this for now. We go to upload, and we click on one of these
images right here. Let's click on this. Go ahead. Background remover, should
remove the background. It actually removed one here from the chair and
not the other one. It's fine. No, I actually
want a more confident image. His. So let's use, for example, let's try
this background remover. Immediately, the
background is removed and it's already
rendered because we have removed the background of the same image in the
same project right here. We make this larger, check
this out, for example. Let's go a bit Capell and.
Let's try to improvise. Click this, I place
it right here. I got to flip flip horizontally, so he looks at the other side, and I actually like
this font right here. So let me go ahead
and tweak this. Let's say that you're
doing a growth guide. So investing tutorial, right? Investing. You can see how well the white lettering contrasts with the
dark background. And it's not, by the way, accidental that this white
black background has this grid type of again,
animation behind it. You can see that again,
the lettering should be the same level with the eyes
of the subject investing, let's say, investing
one oh one, right? Investing one oh
one. There you go. So this could be
an amazing amal. You feel like something's
missing from this amo right here, I can read your mind. You want to add a white shadow. Okay, I really love
adding white shadows, and I urge you to do
the exact same thing. It works every single time, like a miracle, right? So
here's a white shadow. We'd like to decrease
its transparency a bit, go to layer, show layers behind our subject, right here, and there you
have it white shadow. Actually, in this case, I don't really like the white
shadow that much, simply because it
just decreases, let's say, the vibrancy of the green of this
exponential growth, right, which I actually
I'm not a huge fan of. Another thing you
could do is change the color of investing
to total black, as well as one oh one, make the total black
and go to effects. Add a white background. This
all also works miracles. So at a white
background, of course, we have some document colors. We can also add the
exact same background with this vibrant green, so it also gives us
this opportunity. But white background, I
think it works perfectly. I'm going to add the exact
same effect to the one oh one. So background, go to
background, add white. I kind of like this. I kind of like this more actually now. So investing big letters
in the eye level perfect one oh one. All
right? There you go. That's actually good
fam if you're doing an investing master
class, right? And of course, we have these
animations right here, and these are, again, multiple
different animations. Let me unlock this, right? So you can delete
our main subject. And all of these
are different icons that you can go ahead and tweak, so you can delete them
if you don't want them. And let's add some more icons. So for example, let's
take this, right? Group it. Should we group it with the shadow? Yeah,
let's do that, right? So I'm clicking on this.
I'm grouping it with the shadow group right, click copy, right
click, right here. Paste, you have our subject right here with the white
shadow exactly as we wanted it. Let's ungroup them actually
because I think we forgot to edit our main subject. Yeah, we forgot to edit it. So we increase the brightness,
we decrease the contrast, we increase the highlights,
we increase the shadows. I don't know if I'm editing
kind of fast for you guys, but we've done this
multiple times. That's why I'm not explaining every single step
of the process. And now it's time to, like, add stuff. To all of these icons. So we would go to
elements, for example. Let's say that this is a
productivity video, right? We're talking about
productivity hacks or something like that. So we would go to health, right? Health go to graphics, and we would add some
dark graphics of health. So this, for example, would be an indication if it was a productivity video titled How to be Moe
Productive in 2025. Managing your heart
health, for example, would be like, something that you could apply and
would intrigue viewers, or, for example, running. Let's see if the
graphics on running. Yeah, there are, right?
So let's see a graphic. That's cool. This is also
cool graphic, right? Running right? Here, for example, and we could add notes, right or journaling. Let's see if we have Okay, this could be graphics. So we're looking just for again, dark graphics that are black. So they contrast with the again, with the white blocks like this because
it's not that bold. Let's use this,
which is journaling, right, and being accountable. Another thing would be, for
example, content, right? You add video, go
here, graphics, and you can see you
select this, right? I'm just honestly just
brainstorming from the top of my head, but
you get the point, right? So you go to video,
you can go to cars, so like buying a
car or something to be for you to be more
easy to commute. Just want all of the shapes
that you're going to be adding in these boxes to
be, you know, similar. Right? And finally, right here, let's also add salad. I guess salad has colors, it's kind of hard to visualize
a salad with total black. This could be it. Cool.
Right here, right? So again, this is
for, let's say, demonstrative videos in which you go through, for example, a series of different tips
and tricks you can apply, and for a specific goal, right? Very simple. Not really too
much context in the Tumbil, but this isn't always
bad because we discussed about the fact that some Tamils need to
intrigue the viewers. So if you add a title to this
video, and the title is, for example, five things that
made me a milli in 2025, if you obviously are, or, like, five things that changed
my life in 2025, six things that changed
my life in 2025, this will kind of intrigue your viewers, right, because
they're gonna be like, Wow, I see a car, I see YouTube, I see a salad,
I see someone running. I want to click on this video. So thank you very much for being with me til the end
of the session right here. I'm going to see you in the
thank you note of the scores.
14. Final Steps & Thank You: To personally thank
you for sticking up until the end of this course. My goal with this
course right here would be for you guys
to be able to again, anything you visualize
in your brain, bring it to reality with
all the knowledge and all the tools that I gave you
in this course right here. I want the only limitation for your creative ability for
you to be your mind, right? I don't want you to be
limited with the tools. I don't want you to be limited from all the things
that you can apply. In Canada, the only limitation that I want you to
have is your mind. So it all comes down
into being more creative and being able to
imagine more thumbnails, because you already have
the tools and you have the knowledge to apply them
and bring them to reality. So this course started
with a theoretical part. Then it ended with
a practical part. And again, I'm very
happy that you managed to complete
the course throughout, right, and just bring
this whole thing to complete fulfillment. Now, again, you can access
the templates that we discussed about from the
description of this class, right, from the
class description. And I urge you to download them. It's so easy to add
them and start editing them just as we visualized in the final lesson
of the course. Now, this was a Canva
thumbnail design master class. And if you want more information about
Canva because there are many different
things that you can apply with this, again, amazing online software, right, I have a full Canva master
class in my profile, right. Here you can check
out, and I urge you to check out because
like 6 hours when we analyze every single way to utilize this program as a
creative professional, right? So thank you very
much, and I'm going to see you in the next course.
