1. Introduction.: Hi fashion designer and welcome. My name is Mary Moreno, and I'm so thrilled to bring this cause to you because it is fun and a beginner friendly project. Yes, what am I talking about homemade sleepers? These slippers have saved me throughout the whole winter, and that's why I want to share it with you. This course, I'm going to share with you the basic materials that you're going to need. And, of course, I'm going to share with you how to draft this easy pattern. By the end of the course, you would definitely have something that is very cozy and comfortable to wear. And most of all, you're going to be able to gift it to your friends and family and make some pocket change on the side. And yes, I cannot wait to start the first lesson with you. So see you on the first lesson. 2. Pattern Drafting.: So at this point, you want to go ahead and wear a pair of socks. This will make it easier to trace down your foot. Whether it is a left or a right, it doesn't matter at this point. Now we are creating the sole pattern. And this one is going to be the right side. Now, step two, you will need to take a piece of paper and measure around the widest part of your foot right here. Then you're going to add 2 centimeters. Same, you're going to measure the length of your foot, then add two centimeter to that measurement. Now, you're going to grab a piece of paper. First, I'm going to mark a vertical line. Then I'm going to mark a horizontal line. Now, on this vertical line, I'm going to implement length of my foot plus the two centimeter. Then you want to go ahead and mark the width of your foot plus 2 centimeters also. So at this point, you are actually creating a rectangular shape. Now, once you're done, you want to proceed and cut out the shape. Then you're going to take the shape and fold it in half just like this. The next thing, you want to mark 4.5 centimeters from the edge of the pattern paper after the fold, and right on top, also, right on the edge, you want to mark 4.5 centimeters. With these two points, you want to reconnect them using a curved line. And over here, I'm using a curve ruler. Now, right at the bottom edge on fold, you want to go in by 2 centimeters, and then you want to reconnect it right on the edge of the pattern paper. And then just like that, you have created the upper part of your sleepers. Then go ahead and cut out of the shape. Take note that this shape, we haven't added seam allowance yet. Now, don't forget to create some notches right on the center. This is very important to transfer on your fabric. Now, mark here on the center line that you will need to sew here, which is up to 12 centimeters. Do not go beyond this line because otherwise, your foot won't be able to fit inside the shoe. Now, for the saw, you need to take the traced foot, and you want to make sure that you smoothen out all the lines so that it becomes nice. And then once you are done doing this, I am going to go ahead and cut out the pattern. Now, once you're done doing so, do not forget to turn it over, and this is going to be the left side of the sole. I'm going to go ahead and fold it in half just like this from the hill and create a center notch. Proceed folding it in half just like this. Don't worry if the top part of the pattern doesn't match, and then you want to create the notch. And just like that, you have created both of your pattern. Now, at this point, see you on the next lesson. 3. Material and Fabric Layout.: So in this lesson, I'm going to share with you all the basic materials that I'll be using in order to make my slippers. And, of course, do not forget that you can use any types of materials of your choice. But the one that I'm going to be using, I find them very cozy, especially fleas. When you're going to be using fleas, it's very nice and it keeps the warmth inside. But again, you can choose any type of materials of your choice. And let me show you the ones that I have picked. Now we have all the fabrics. I'm going to be using a polar fleece, which actually is a one waistrech as shown over here. So I'm going to use two types of fabric, which is they're both polar flease, the green, and the scotches, because I love the contrast on the sleepers. Then we have a non slipper. This one over here, it is very good to actually if you're walking on a slippery area, it does have a good grip on it. This one is going to be used for the sole for the outside of the slippers. Of course, this one can be optional, but I prefer if the slippers have this nice comfort inside, I'm using this sponge, which is actually 1 " wide or half an inch wide. These are all the materials that you will need for your project. Now, to lay out your pattern, I'm going to place my material, and the stretch will go around or horizontal on the pattern. Make sure to add around 1 centimeter on your pattern as you are cutting it out. This is very important because it's going to be for seam allowance. Now, once you've added your one seam allowance around the pattern, I will need to go and cut four layers on a different fabric for this pattern piece. Now for the lining, the sole lining, I will also need to place it on a one layer just like this. Make sure that the stretch goes around the sole, not in a vertical, but in a horizontal way. And also, most importantly, add one seam allowance around the pattern. As you can see, I'm going to go ahead and cut out the right side of the lining, making sure that the stretch goes around or horizontal on the pattern. Now, also, please note add your one CM seam allowance on your pattern. Now that the sole lining it is complete, this is how it will turn out. We now have the left and the right side. Now, to cut out to the my slip, which is the one that is going to be on the outside of the sleepers, make sure that the fabric is facing up, which is the wrong side. Then place your left and the right side just like this as shown on the screen. Now proceed and cut out for both the left and the right side. Now you went ahead. You have all your pattern pieces. As you can see, I have four layers of the upper part for the sleepers, and I've got the lining for the sole and the main fabric for the outside of the sleepers. Now, when you're cutting out the sponge, please take note. Do not add seam allowance. Now, you want to go ahead and trace out the left side, including the right side. And once you're done, cut it out. And just like that, you are done with all your pattern pieces. Mark the left and the right side, and I will see you on the next lesson. 4. Slippers Construction.: Now to construct the slippers, you will need to take these four layers of the upper part of the slippers. And I'm going to take my pattern over here. I want to mark the center line that you actually marked on your pattern. And I did mark around 12 centimeters, which is the one that I'm going to actually transfer on the fabric. And once you have marked this line in the center, which is where we're going to saw here and also right at the bottom, we're going to saw right here at the bottom around one centimeters or half of an inch. Now, once you're done, you're going to open up or create a notch right here, just a little bit and make sure you do not cut through the seam. Then we're going to flip open these two layers just like that. And then for the back part, you want to press open the seam and then fold it towards each other. This is how it will turn out. In this opening, this is where you're going to fit in your leg. I've done this for both of the slippers. Now the next thing is to attach the sole of your slippers. I'm going to first transfer the notches by placing the pin this point, it doesn't matter if you're starting with the left side of the shoe or the right side. So what's important is to identify the notches. I'm going to take the my slip fabric, place it right side facing like this, and I'm going to match them with the seam on the front and also the seam right at the back. And then once you're done doing this, now you can proceed and pin around the slippers and take it to the sewing machine now once you're done. And then you want to cut out some axis fabric if it is there. Then sew a straight stitch, which is around 1 centimeter around the shoe. Now, once you're done doing this, you can now proceed and add the lining. But if you don't have extra fabric, this is where you can end with your slippers, and it is complete. But I want it to look nice and comfortable also on the inside. Hence, I say, you can proceed and add your lining. So I'm going to turn the sleepers the wrong side and then take the lining of the slippers and then pin it around as shown over here. I went ahead and pinned it around and please leave an opening enough opening to turn the slippers the correct side. Now, before you do anything, make sure you cut out all the excess fabric to avoid any bulging. Turning the sleeps the correct site. This is going to be the inside of the shoe. You want to proceed now on that opening that you have left. You want to now insert the form or a sponge, anything that you'll be using at that time. And I'm going to insert it right in that opening, making sure that you push it through with your fingers so that it is spread evenly. And this is the outcome of your slippers. It looks so pretty and beautiful. Now, the final part is to grab your needle and your matching thread so that we can go ahead and close down the opening of the sleepers. Now, right on the inside just like this, you can just go ahead and just close the two pinching them together like this and do a hand stitch. And you are done with your slippers. It is time to try it on. It looks so cute. Now, at this point, you can go ahead and design it, you put your beads, anything to decorate your sleepers. Now, I've done this for both of the shoe, and this is how it turned out. Now I want to show you how it will look on me. Now, you can go ahead and make different colours. I made the pink one, and, of course, this green one that I definitely showed you how to make. And they are definitely comfortable. That's one thing I can guarantee you. And you can make this for your friends and family. 5. Conclusion: Congratulations. You have reached this part of your lesson. I cannot wait to see your finished project. Please do not forget to post your picture on the project section below and mention what type of fabrics that you actually used for your sleepers. I really enjoyed making this project, and hopefully you did, too. As for me, see you on the next one.
