Hands-on Class Project
Are You Ready To Select The Perfect Niche For Your Online Business?
Your project for this class is divided into multiple assignments.
Assignment (1) - Create A List Of Six Potential Niches You Are Interested In.
Potential niches can be anything like parenting, art, education, cooking, online marketing, weight loss, interior design or mental health. These are just a few examples of the endless possibilities. It’s totally up to you to decide what to include in your list. The purpose of this assignment is not to make a final decision on your niche, but to brainstorm and identify the niches that interest you personally.
(See attached pdf file for detailed instructions).
Assignment (2) - Conduct Niche In-depth Research.
Follow the steps inside the niche in-depth research tutorial (lecture #5).
(See attached pdf file for detailed instructions).
Assignment (3) - Select Your Top Three Niches.
Use the criteria for profitable niches to evaluate each niche you included in your list of potential niches. Narrow down your list to the top three. Keep in mind that you don't need to evaluate the quantity or demand/competition yet; you'll learn how to research them using keywords in the next part. For now, use the other criteria on the list to eliminate niches that don’t meet the standards of quality products, audience’s activity online and your ability to relate to and understand the niche.
(See attached pdf file for detailed instructions).
Assignment (4) - Select Your Primary Niche.
Utilise a keyword research tool of your choice to research the three niches you have on your list, and evaluate the demand and competition for each niche.
The niche you select would ideally be the niche with:
- The highest demand.
- The lowest competition.
If you landed on a niche that will be sub-categorised, identify the sub-niches within it that you will be targeting.
(See attached pdf file for detailed instructions).
Assignment (5) - Create Your List Of Target Keywords.
Generate a comprehensive list of target keywords for your business by utilising a keyword research tool of your choice. Choose three to five long-tail keywords that are highly relevant to your audience and have a high search volume.
During this research, think like your audience would, and pick the keywords that are most relevant to them. Furthermore, pick the keywords that you see yourself creating some interesting and engaging content pieces around.
(See attached pdf file for detailed instructions).
