1. Introduction: Hi, welcome to another one of my classes. Today we are going to be looking at making secrets, notes. You can suddenly East or someone you love, someone you like, someone you hate. Ido is completely up to you. There are two different sorts here. We're going to do do each of these. This is a 6.6 inch square that we start with. And this will be a twelv by 12 inch square that we start with. And I will show you the folding techniques that you'll need for both. This one is a two parter and you can add notes in here, and then you open it. And there is your main latter. And this one opens up like this. And it's quite simple as well. So I'm going to show you how to do both of those different secret knights. Thank you for watching. 2. You will need: To make these cards, you will need a certain selection of materials. So let me show you what I've been using to make this one. You require thinner paper purely because every little folds in it. And also it helps if it's double-sided. So this one is a double-sided paper. I should say spotty one side or the other. And I used 250 GSM. You can use any scrapbook paper. I use the thinner white ones if I can, but I do like them double-sided. And quite often the double-sided ones tend to be around the 250 GSM mark. If in doubt, it should say on the front. This particular pad, I think I just got from a local craft shop. And it's just gold stripes and spots all the way through. It works best if you have a non-directional pattern. If you have the pattern with the direction, you find that it'll be upside down or back to front, and it just won't look as good as this one. It creates a nice, pleasing look. You've got your lines going into m lines. Bull ended up going in the same way. Okay. So that's a non-directional Patterson and that's nice and thin card. For this one, I have actually used a 300 GSM caught. I've been using this. Sorry, some of these are 200 GSM, but not all of them because they thicker ones have been foiled and involved in all sorts of things. And as you can see, this awesome shimmer on there. So I quite like these first edition behalves. They can't be big, costly, but you can't get other versions as well we should just described. So you can just single sided or double-sided, whichever you fancy. And for this one I've used the single-sided because I liked the texture on the outside. Other things you will need half punches. If you don't have hot punches, click on the download and you can print up a heart shape and then use that as a cutting template. So we've got how punches and scissors, plugin or double sided sticky tape, whichever you prefer. Ruler. Penn for marking, tangible tool for folding. Other things you could use would be a mini Qatar, such as this sort of thing that we'll guillotine and other embellishments that you might have, such as ribbons or buttons or even stickers, would work just as well. It also helps if you have a little bit of playing card fundamental. So now you go your materials, let's get going. 3. Class project: For your class project, I'd like you to make either one of the two secret notes that we have made in the tutorials. You can use any papers you like. Maybe try and make them smaller or larger as well. You just need to use the need to add a dual must work out the size things. This has quite a nice size for me, but, you know, you kinda smaller. So your class project is to create one of these and decorated as you wish. 4. Heart Notes: Right, for offers card that we're going to make, we're going to need two different size heart punches. If you don't have these, then you can always cut the heart felt. I will add a template feeds download. You'll need a ruler, UPENN, glue gun or double sided sticky tape, either one. And then you will need several bits of cards. You need to choose your external called. You will also need some internal card like that. And you will need some spare card as well. So the first thing we're going to do is take your external card. You're gonna turn it over. And using your ruler, you're gonna mark the central point. So you go from point to point. Like so. Just do a little line. Do the same year the way like site. And that's what you need for the panel and that the minute. So you can see that cross is going to be the central point. So we're gonna take this point here and make it touched the point there, center there, like psi. And we're going to do this to all four corners. Make sure you make your scenes really crisp. If you'd want to use a bone folder for this, you could write. So this is the basis for our secret love heart notes. Next thing we need to do is we need to do our internal panel that we're gonna write on. So we need to trim this down to the correct size. Right? So I'm going to do is I'm going to use my cough so I couldn't use this is, you know, use whatever you want to. I'm going to cut it to four inches by four inches. So I started off with a six by six square. And then I'm going to put a four by four inch insert in there. And then I'm going to put 3.5 by 3.5, like say. So this is the bit that you're right on. Now other things you can do is on scraps and things like that. You can see here. We could cut out the elements. Yeah, how scissors you could always tear out the elements. Be creative enough. You've got stickers. You could use stickers, and then you can stick them in a corner. So now let's focus on the external side. So we're going to need the large hole punch and a scrap of paper. I think actually I'm going to use the Pink because it's going to be contrasting. Suppose close up a minute. If I use this one directly on top of this, you probably wouldn't see it. Whereas if I use a contrasting color, it will stand out more. And I'm going to cut out for hearts. And when I do this, I always reverse the punch so that I can see that I've got the paper inside one. Now this paper is slightly directional actually, so you can possible to line it up. And then we go. So I've got my four medium height hearts. These hearts. Yep. So you just say, you know, the rough, so size. They are just under four centimeters. These ones here, I want to go too large, but you obviously want to be small enough. Okay. So there we go, there's those ones. And then we need to curtailed by the smaller ones. And I'm gonna do that using the Patton. Like this. I suggest when you're doing this, you're relatively thick card. It is not, of course essential. Okay, so the next thing I'm going to do is put the hats on. So I'm just gonna totally clear going on. Okay, so the first thing we do here is I'm going to stick the little hearts into the middle of the big hearts. Like I said, you could use PVA glue, you could use double sided sticky tape. You could use Pritt Stick. Just bear in mind that Pritt Stick will not last as long. And also I did type will start coming awhile for a while. Which is why I tend to go with the glue gun. Right? So I've done my full hearts and now going to attach them to my card. I'm going to attach it so that the point here of the card goes to the deep in the heart. And I'm going to make sure is completely level. So we have exactly the same amount either side. And I'm gonna do that on all four points. And what I've got to say, I'm just going to add a little bit of glue. Now I would probably use W somewhat double-sided tape for the internal bits. I need because to write honed, the glue gun gives us a raised effect. So writing on it is a bit of a pain, right? So we've gluteal the elements together. Now we're going to close it. So let's see if it works. We're going to close 123. Can you see, hey, these ones are overlapping. And then this one is going to push in between that one and that one. Takes a little bit of getting used to, to do it. But when she cracked it, it just looks so effective. So the hearts of actually formed a bit the square in the middle and then twice, you just open any side flatMap. So let me show you again for closing it. So take them one at a time. And then the last one goes under the first one for the last one. And they guide. And as you'll secret, it'll halt note. 5. Twisted notes: Right, so the next card will enter. Mike is going to require a twelv by 12 sheets of double-sided if you've got it, if not, don't worry. Scrapbook paper. This is 250 GSM. I wouldn't go too much thicker. Actually, the theme of the paper the better for this particular one. You will also need either a bowl tool or a pen. It is got the Incas run out. That's even better because we are going to be scoring lines. But for the purpose of this tutorial, I'm actually going to be drawing the lines so you can see them. And we also will need a ruler. Now I'm actually going to draw the lines in blacking. You wouldn't do this at home unless you particularly wanted to do this at home. But the reason I'm going to use black ink you so that you can see clearly in the camera. So I'm going to go up to the edge. I'm going to use the inch side of my ruler. And I'm going to mark off every four inches. My next job is going today to join up the marks I have just made governing crossover going to be splitting this 12 inch square into nine equal sizes, equal squares. There's my first line. I pushed quite hard so that it will help create the fold. You obviously can't do that with a five that pin, but this has got a hard nib so I can I can do it without damaging the pen. If you using Kichwa often can get quite messy as well, which is why I recommend using the bold tool. So remember, I'm just doing this so that you are able to see what I'm doing. Ok, so the Penn managed to create to fold. So what I'm gonna do is I'm just going to make sure on where folds are nice and crisp. Like cycle. Now our next job is to create some mountain and valley folds. Four corners are all going to be valley folds. So I'm going to show you on this side how to do it. So we're gonna go from the central point of the middle square to the external point like that. And I'm going to repeat that. I'm gonna twist every time. And I'm going to repeat that stage on all four corners, making sure I'm pushing hard. Like site. And what we're going to do is we're going to be careful not to fold the central square. We are just going to tease that fold to the point like that. So I haven't folded into here at all and do the same on all truthfulness. Just down to the point. Like psi. Now we're going to do, we're going to turn over the peace. Like so as you can say, I haven't got any lines visible, but I can't see the folds here. And what I'm going to do is go from, I'll just draw a dot. I'm going to go from the 0.2. So when I fold it, so I'm going to fold it this way. So you can say there is a fold this way. Sorry, proposing it this way because it leads to a mountain fold. And then there's a valley fold. So you can see mountain fold, valley fold. And we're gonna do that on all of these. If you want to draw it on this side, that's absolutely fine. Just gotta make sure it's going in the right direction. So let me show you this way. This one is going to be a mountain folds steric and with this one, so from the corner to the point and then to the corner point. So if you can see the pattern, I've got one going out that way and then to this Y, two this way, to this way, to this way. And you need to make sure that these corners are valley folds and the middle ones, a mountain folds. Once you've folded them really well, it makes the whole process so much easier, but it is a little bit fiddly. I'm afraid. We go. Now. This is a slightly tricky bit. You kind of need to tease it. So taking the four corners, you're going to slowly take into the middle and twist at the same time. Making sure you keep your points, external points out. And you are going to, Okay, so the next thing we're going to do is we're now going to Folgers him. It does seem a little bit complicated the first time you do it, so I hope you bear with me and I can get it. All right. So what we're going to do is we're going to try taking the corners. We're going to try and rotate. So with twisting and rotating, and what you'll find happens is these whole sections will meet up in the middle. Now I suggest you go along and you just double-check that all your bowls are rarely crest. So there's the reverse. That is the front. Okay, so let's try that again. So what I've done is I've got my fingers in the corner and I am twisting into place like that. What's happening is thus pieces going down over this piece, this one over this piece, this one over this piece, and this one over this piece. By twisting it, you can get it all in without it some buckling. Now the next thing to do is we are going to fold along these lines here. And we're going to fold up each point. Say there's one too, over the top of this 13, over the top of this one. And the last 14, because it's all gonna come upon. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna take the tip, the last one, and we all go into tuck it under the first one. And then you go there, you have your secret note. So what you can do now is you can decorate it inside. So if we open up to open, just twist out like psi. And then you can add whatever declaration you want to on the inside. So you could have some layer up some calls. You can have all sorts of flowers around the outside. You could even write secret messages and every section, bear in mind, yours won't have the black lines on flight. Mine does, because it was for a demonstration. But you can decorate it however you like. And actually, the more you twist, the more you I put it, the more you close it, the easier it becomes. The photos just seem to get a lot easier to be able to fold in and out. So there we go. There is your second card. So now it's just time to decorate it and then send it to someone as a secret. Like to say, my next job is going to be to decorate this and I'm going to do it in different ways. So first off, I'm going to look at the inside. So I'm gonna open it up. And what I have done is I have cut out some pieces of code, so I'm going to touch one to the center. And what do dots and like the stripes at that blank page so that we can write on it. And then I have cut out some triangles. And I thought I would alternate them, have spots and stripes, like say, to add a bit of variety. So I'm just going to stick close one stamp again. So my insight is decorated. Now I just need to twist it up. And now I can take write this level if I'd like to two, or I can just close it out. Like say. So there is my secret note. Take two.
