About This Class

In this Scrapbooking Class we are going to create a Scrapbook Mini Album with printable scrapbooking files. I'm using Traci Reed's Stay Home Collection here as ist is already prepared for printing out but you can use whatever digital scrapbooking kit or scrapbooking papers and embellishments you have handy.

With this Mini Album we are going to preserve the Pandemic in 2020 and even 2021 but you can adapt it for any topic you like. If you have a Scrapbooking Kit which is birthday-themed you can of course create a Mini Album from your last birthday party.

The bookbinding technique (if you want to call it like that) is timeless and easy to absorb for all kind of different projects. It's a fun way to create a Mini Album because you do not need a lot of material and the scrapbooking papers you'll use for your layouts are already there.

Having said that it might be a good idea to plan your topic for the Scrapbook Mini Album. Then you know which paper needs to go where and if it needs a sewing bag for more material you have to preserve your memories.

1. Introduction: In this class, I'm going to show you how to create your own stay at home mini book. And this is as easy as you can see. Here. We are just using some pieces of cart star and a few elements and papers, scrapbooking papers, you can print out yourself at home. And that's a really cool thing about this, because this means you don't have to go anywhere, especially during this pandemic. And you can be a creative at home and use whatever material you need. I'm going to show you the stay at home collection, but you can use a material you want to create your own stay at home may album. And the best thing is you can use this again and again once you have learned this technique. And then you can go ahead and create as many albums as you like with no more than a bit of card stock and a few papers. So now it's time to join the class and let's get started creating these beautiful mini albums and scrapbooking layers with some pieces of paper. Let's have fun together. 2. Intro & Material: Welcome to this day at home many album class. My name is pneumonia and I'm your instructor in this class, and I'm going to show you how to create this mini album. Have a look here. This mini album is created from nothing more but a few pieces of paper. We glue together in a special way actually. And then we are also going to sue some bags inside. And then we are creating some interactive layout. Just to give you an example here. This one is yeah, with some tabs where you can add your pictures and check inside as well. And then I created also layered with some acrylic painting as well as attack here, which is just expanding of the photo below. Well, that's something if you have two pictures and you put one onto each other, might be a nice effect. And then I also added a little bit of vellum and story tech here just to make sure it can tell my story for the picture. Because a year from now and most probably don't know anymore where I have been and where what I wanted to preserved with this memory. So I want to welcome you to the class. We're going to start now with the material and then we are diving right into the book creation. I wish you a lot of fun. So here are some material you need for your mini album. We need definitely some ship port. And this is r, this was A4 chip board. And I cut it in half. And then I cut two centimeter from the height and two from the width. So a habit a bit smaller with us, perfect because I'm going to use it for the edges to flip the paper route. And here are all the papers I have printed from Tracy reads stay home collection. You can of course use whatever paper you want. But I think that one is perfect. So you're a lot of different papers. I'm not going to show them all to you. But for you it might be good to print the 12 to 15 papers. So we need ten for the mini book, and then we also need some forward layoffs later, so 12 to 15 should be enough. Then you need some adhesive. So I have thin and I have a little bit wider. Then I have a bone folder here. Strong glue. All the elements from the stay home collection. There are different collections here, like stay home and connects the homeless snack and stay home and relax or say hormone craft and I have cut them all. You can download them and you get a solid files and the cricket files or you get the files you can create those friends in your cutting machine from. And then you can just cut them. You can also of course covered all with your scalar. That's totally up to you. We need this adhesive, or maybe you need that or the other one up to you. I also have a hole puncher. That one we're going to need that flows soon. Max. And I have the clips, which are a nice helper later on to put it together and blew the whole thing together. Then I also have a paper trim off. You'll have something similar. Maybe. I of course have a scalar. And for our later layer, I have the crocodile. Again, totally up to you. You may want to use something else are great at different. That's up to you, but just showing you what I'm going to use over this class. 3. Preparing the Papers and Sewing Bags: So the next step is preparing the papers. And what we're going to do here is we're going to use that paper for the cover. And so I just cut it in half, so I'd have to A5 papers. But the first thing I do now, you might do that in inch. That's totally fine. I'm just using centimeters. We curse. I'm much more familiar with that. So that is something we use later for the cover. And now I'm using all the papers I want to have included in the book. And what I need to do now is I cut two centimeters from the, from the width and the height. So I have the same size than chip board. And I'm going to do that now ten times. For all the papers inside you can of course, do more or less papers. That's again, that's totally up to you. It depends how, how big you want to have human level. But for my experience, I can say that ten pages up, a lot to decorate and to actual papers, to add photos to wherever. So lets a good size. I always keep this little pieces. Maybe I need them later for a layered so I can always throw them away, but I can also do that later. So for now, I just keep them and see if I need them later. So I just show you one paper and you go ahead and do it with nine more. So now you have the page. And now we folded in hard. Important thing now is that the printed things, the print are inside and outside. And we're just going to two fold it here in the middle. I like to use my folder here in the paper tremor just to make it look better. But again, that's up to you. If you just want to folded like this, that's also fine. So I go over it with these folder here. You don't have to. As I said, you can totally do it without that. But I like it. So I have it better going to get a hit. So once that is done, this is how it looks. On the inside, there is a graphic, and on the outside is the white paper. And not, you go ahead and do that with ten more papers. So I put ten papers, pull it up. So it's totally up to you which papers you choose. Ie. Have chosen papers which are not that Petr, except that one that's really colorful, but the other ones are not that colorful because I want to have the pictures in the front. So I thought I'm going to use these less pattern papers. So what I'm going to do now is I'm going to prepare these pages to be soon. So I want to have some suing bags inside. So what I'm going to do is basically I'm going to glue the pages together. But if I want to sue a bag, I'm going to put them together. Just put some glue here on the inside. And then I go to my sewing machine and Sue around. So I'm going to sue here around the two papers here. And then I have a back here inside. And I'm going to use that for tech or for whatever you have collected, maybe a ticker tape or something else to remember, or you put in a piece of paper where you say something about the day. So some drumlins and storytelling. Because sadness, what is all about so storytelling, so these are the areas where if we want to put the emphasis on the photos, We're going to put the tags and whatever storytelling you do inside these bags. So first of all, I'm gluing together two pages and using those two because this one is the first and I'm just going to glue them together with some glue stick or was my adhesive. And these two others, I'm gluing together for a back. So and I'm going to show you how I do that. Then you go ahead and do that with a few more if you choose to. I'm going to do that with free after all. So I have strayed backs. So I can when I use this adhesive and go around here or at least for for those suing a portion, I just put it here on the left side so we have it together. And then I can go to the sewing machine. A, nothing can happen. But I can also use that stuff here and I will use that because it's easier to manage now. So I'm just going along here and just put it on top. You see, please always check if it's the right direction here. So just check just in case. And then you put it here onto each other. Of course, those you don't want to glue together. You don't want to sue. You will glue it all here. But for those you want to sue, you will leave it open like that. So that is the preparing for suing back. And if I just want to have to together, go ahead and put them completely together. Just showing you what I do now. So I think I'm using a more neutral one for the second page. Yeah. Maybe the one with the heart. This is the first page of my book. And now I need to glue that here on top to have the second page. So how do I do it? I just use my adhesive. And now you see I'm varying all around the edges. And it's very important that you use that choose to grow around the edges here. And then you put some strong glue inside. Interior notice and not really on the edge. So I'm just using a bit more adhesive and go around here. So just in case, you know, most proteins enough, just map better safe than sorry, so I'm carrying to do with like that. Okay. So now you can see the first page on one, I turned it around. You see it's all perfectly together. And now I'm going to create two more papers for suing bags. And then I glue some more papers together and I come back with the assume backs. So we have this soon bags already. As you can see now, here is a little back here, and now I can put things inside. And here has my sewing machine has to this back. And I have done that Mao for three papers here. And the other one as well. So I mix it up. I put some here, one here, and one there. So I have it all over the place. Before I do that, I'm going to punch half hole inside here. And I'm going to do that with my ruler. So I know, well, at least mostly where I have to put these, punish her for that. You know, you just use a ruler. I can tell you the numbers, but I'm a fan of just trying to see what the sizes for you because it can depend a little bit and there's no reason to not measure it. So just pick the middle here. And then you can go ahead and make a little dot there. So you can punch it and enter there. So you see here is the middle and here's the heart. And that's what I try not to get unmatched. So you see here it is. And I have on my back and I can put in a tag or something, I can pull it off. It's much easier when I have this half hole here. What I can also do is I can punch out both sides. So I have a double hole if I want to do something from the left and from the right, and I'm going to do that now with the next page. You see totally depends on your, you do as you like. And again, I'm going to measure it just in case, I mean, it has to be the same size, but just in case it's always better. So now you see I have punch from both sides. And the good thing now is that when I put something on the one side, I can also pulled out on the other. And now you see a certain variation. I put it from the right side or from the left. That is you want to say and the other side not. Okay, so, so far we are done, at least with our sewing bags and now we glue the pages together. Please take care. But you have the white side on the outer edge. That's all it has to be. Same here. 4. Glueing Papers together: So the only thing you need to decide nodes where you want to have which paper. And this is the one I already glued together. And now I pick that 11 of these. Yeah, maybe that one and put those two together. So I have assumed back here. So let's get rid of all that. And I show you one. Then I do it on my own and you do it, and then we get back with the cover. So again, I'm going to use this adhesive. And I just asked if it would be just one page. I go around the edges. And then I also put some glue here and sign a, that's it. So my just punch it really together. And now we move on with the other pages. This is how it looks now, so, but it's a normal page. Here comes novel, zoom back. Here it is. Punch from two hosts, two sides. And here you go. So now I'm using a normal page once again, the good thing now is that when you put the papers together, you see it really getting thick. Jump when you glue something on it and your photos and whatever, it really gets strong. So hopefully it lasts forever. Okay, we're done with the inside. So just showing you, I have deleting the pages together and I also have the zoom back now inside and only light goes through it. You see the one which has just 1.5 circle. And now comes the one with the other half on the other side, the circle. And here is at one. And now we're going to need to create the cover and the spine. Here. We're going to look at this in the next lesson. 5. Adding Spine Cover Decoration: So here is the ship board from the beginning, as well as the papers we left a little bit bigger in A5 to pull them around. So as you can see now, I have some space around and now I can't pull it over the edges and glue it on here. And then we're going to put the paper on top. So let me show you how to do that. I use one piece of the papers on it here on the bottom. And now I use the strong glue and the adhesive just as we did with the other sinks. Just go a round here. Let's just because it's easier for me to be in the middle of your not 100% is not a big deal. But no, we try. Now we have to cut off the edges. Just leave a little bit of space. So it looks much better. Here, a little bit of space. And also rounded a bit. Not too steep. We can pull that around the problem or not really a problem, but we need to pull it around like this. We have to fold it, uses bone folder for that. Really go over here. And then we need strong adhesive to make it good. And that is where this comes into play. And I'm going to put that now here. The outer ACH. You see if there are some edges. I just put a little bit here and there. Just in case, most probably not necessarily what I doing anyway. It's checking if it goes over the edge somewhere. And if so, of course, I cut it. The main point is that you have something here over the edge AB you have. Then later on, we put this one on top. And if you don't see anything anymore. So first piece is ready and you see it already looks much better here because we have pulled them over the edges. So now I go head and do same thing with the other side. And then I come back and we glue it together. So the cover is ready in the backside as well. So now we just have to put the yeah. The pages inside. So how do we do that is pretty easy. We just need to glue it here on top. And then we can put around Stein or better, even we put around a spine right now and move it under the cover. I think that looks better. But once again, that's up to you. Just what do you prefer is fine. You can choose whatever paper you have. I mean, I have several left here and I'm going to see which one fits. Question. Not if you use something for a bride or if you use something darker. And, you know, I just need to something which fits totally different. And there's not so much you can see from the, you can also use the same papers beauty of printable. So you can just print it out once again, then you have another piece of that paper. But if you don't want it, you just pick whatever paper you have ethics. And now what I'm going to do is I pick that one and I go a bit over the edge and then flip it around here. So that's more or less at least what I need. So I just mark it with my pencil. It doesn't have to be a 100%. If you are, have a little bit less than that is not a big deal. Always check if you have the right page on top. And then we're going to cut off one we don't need. So I'm now going to do that here on top. Then I pulled around. And the important thing now is that you do not put any glue here on the actual spike. And so that's yet now you can still make open your book to them. Otherwise, if you would have put some glue, hey, you don't have enough flexibility. So what I can do now I can cut it off a bit more here and there. And I glue this year on top what I'm going to do now because I don't want to mess it up. Ok. Some are many book is stock and just going to cut that off. And then our book is ready and we can start adding some layouts. Okay, I put together a cover. What's this about? This is as for me, it stay Home Journal, which means I put together everything I do do during this crisis. And this is why I put some, some glimpse here, like exercise and self-care and playing on things we know have to do at home and can't go anywhere. So this is what I put here. And then inside the book, I have tons of photos from this special situation. And yeah, those gearing was getting inside. And now I just want to put these little things here on the cover. So how do I do that? Pretty easy. I just use a piece of paper. Okay, that's it. That's my cover for now. And now we start decorating the first layout. 6. Adding Stories to your Book: Okay, we start the book now with our first memories. And minus from Halloween 20, 120, which I had to spend at home with a thinner and some nice TV show. Those what I documented them I saw, I won't start the first layout here on the first page. And also the second page does not look like Halloween with all the heart's going to use that first page. And which is a good idea because here I also have a back where I can put in a tech. So what we are going to do now is we use this paper you see, that fits pretty well. And I'm going to cut some pieces out of it and create a back and they are put attack and I also put a tech here into that back. Yes, So let's get started. And in pink. So since I've just loaded on straight sides, I have a back here for my attack. But for now I want to use my picture. And that's the first picture which shows the dinner table before we put MPS and honest. Okay. Still with its many onto see, I didn't put any glue here. So if I ever want to add something, I can do that just like I can do it here. This is what I want to do. Here is one of the texts. We're going to decorate it a bit further. But that's how we start here. But before I go on, I first at the other part of that site. So now I use my crocodile and after I left here, so it's slightly out of order so I can add something to decorate here, going to do that later. And if any. So here's a second technique I'm going to add something to write on. So that's movie when we drink and dinner. So I guess I'm going to add something here on top to be sure that one can see it better. Sometimes it's because it's a pen on paper. Maybe that would be helpful. Ship. So I just grab a piece of paper and it's not just a centimeter. To pick some milk, I need some white point. This I'm not on the new start decorating. Okay, So as I said, we have to still decorated here. But decide that the elements of this layer with our DOM. Now we need to fix every single case. Hello, this is a piece for the story where I need a small piece of paper just to pull it out. Okay, so first I'm going to fix the photos here. What I first do is I'm going to use my paper trauma and score it a bit so it can easily be over. Okay. So now you can look at the pictures. Okay, here is what I had in mind for this corner. Well, as a glass of wine. I mean, a red wine is perfect for adult women, isn't it? So he put that on the platform. Okay. Up, put some of the elements around here. And now I'm just filling them out. Okay, that's it. Now I'm going to write plus story here and there. Let's allow for Halloween. 7. 2nd Layout: Let's create another layout for our mini book. And what I did is this is from a fall for loop for a walk. And Yeah, well, it's just another false story. So what you can do in this time, you can go for a walk and definitely for a long walk. And what I did is I printed a picture in rounded edges on two pieces of photo paper. And I'm going to cap it and put it on both sides. And then we are adding two texts, one on the left and one on the right in a little back. So let's get started with that. So it put it here on the edge. And with that, I also cover the sewing, but you don't have to. I mean, it looks good. It's not that it looks any red when you have some swing here. So it just do it. So the reason why I'll leave some space here is B Corps and would have loved to have that picture bigger. So I tried to have it as small as possible here because I wanted to put something here on the picture to have it a bit more bounce. I would like to have not too much space here. But, you know, it's not really possible because I have a large book. So but you will get DID what I'm doing here. And I'm going to use this tag and put a piece of it here on top. And then we're going to put the tech here. You will see what, what I'm doing. So using the crocodile once again, I'm picking middle here for nearly. So I have at least some idea where it is. It doesn't have to be 100% great saying about just, you know, it's, it's crafting. So you have some freedom here. So once again, I make it a bit out of center. And that's okay. So sure we need to be careful because otherwise, you know, here's nothing, so that's fine. We can just make a hole inside. Just doing that to make it better actually, on the other side as well. So you can see the ID here is also to have an interactive element on your page. And, you know, again, tell stories because this is just a dedicated image. So I have two of them and I can put them all. So I going to put it like that. And it looks nearly as if there are two at once. So that's how I wanted to be. But I also need some space to tell story. So on the other side, we are going to put a back as well here. And then we can also decorate with a bit more from the picture. Here I have, well, maybe we will see. So I saw the object transparent BEC. There's any secret groups function in this case. And now I use the small adhesive tape. So you don't see that much ferment because you cannot avoid that you see something. But then at least ethnics as possible. Okay, so now we have another black here and we can put in another tech. And here you can add the story. So I left it as it is B corps. I think now I have enough space to add some more elements. And also here, I'm going to put something in Y two, so I have something I can write one. Actually not what we are going to do now. And then we can also use the rest of this photo to decorate it even more. And you seem to have a lot of neutral colors. It makes a huge difference in this layer that takes. So just doing a normal piece of printer paper. And I just need to measure the area I have here, 6.5 centimeters. And I'm going to leave a little bit of space, so I make 5.5, and here it is, 7.56.5. Okay, so now let me punch a hole in the center. Okay, so I just put a few items here and I think it's still a little bit empty. That is why I decided to use a stencil. Here was some acrylic color and put that here. You know, this is totally up to you. You can do whatever you like. I just want to give you an idea how it looks. When you have some, some acrylic color in your layout, it always looks pretty good. It just a little bit more work, Shyam bit more work. So here is some white acrylic color from our tests or whatever you use this fine, doesn't matter. I just want to fix first the items which are honestly speaking. I just got a different idea. I just put it first on here. Until late. I prefer meditation mark inside. One would decide that so laid like I did Null. You need to be pretty careful because otherwise you can mess up with the other items you already have on your page. So be careful. But the main thing is a, to let it dry. And acrylic color is pretty fixed. It's quickly dry, so we just need to go over it and give it a few minutes. Okay. So that's it. And now we give it a few minutes and then I put the rest in here. As you can see, you've been a plan you nailed ahead. Otherwise, it gets a bit tricky. You can still do it, but it's a little bit tricky. Okay, we're done except some journaling. Tell her story here on this little tag and then we are done. So let's give it a few minutes to dry. And then your layered is already at avoiding information overload. When you go into the nature. Sometimes it's good for the brain to get everything free. 8. Project & Goodbye: I really hope you enjoyed this class. And before we are closing here as a failed project, the book we created, as well as the layout will make our one layered as least to show you. And now it's your time. You are going to create your own mini book with your own layered and with your own kid of choice, of course. So go ahead, get a scrapbooking kid. And then that gets started creating your beautiful memories from the stay at home time during this pandemic. And if you have any questions, please let me know in the comments below, and I hope to see you in the next class as well. Until then, bye.
