1. Introduction : Raisin trays are custom trays made from molding sin. These trays are unique and stylish. Making these DIY trays is a great way to add style, interest, and a custom touch to your room decor or your kitchen. Hi, my name is Damini and I'm an artist from Mumbai. I have been teaching painting since 2018 and have taught thousands of students in physical workshops. Now I'm so excited to teach online. In this course, I'll guide you through different steps involved in this process. By following these steps, you can easily make a unique and pretty tray at the comfort of your home. In this class, we will see how to assemble and arrange art materials carefully, sin and hardno proportion, how to add pigments to the mixture, pour raisin layer into the mold, safety precautions when working with sin, how to use a heat gun, how to cure sin, and finally adding handles. By the end of this class, you should be confident to create these kind of trays in your own way. You create stylish, creative, and beautiful trays by combining them with different materials and creating different shapes. The sin provides endless possibilities for you to customize these trays and suit them with your style. I invite you to join me for the course. Look forward to seeing you inside the class. 2. Safety measures : There are a few safety precautions that you have to keep in mind when working with sin. The first thing is always cover your hands with gloves. Avoid any sin contact with skin, mouth, or eyes, wear a safety mask or a respirator when working with raisin. Raisin art is also not for pregnant women, so pregnant women are not advised to work with raisin. Cover your table or floor with a plastic sheet. Keep your pets away from raisin. Whenever you work with sin, keep your surroundings ventilated. Keep the doors or the windows open. RasinAt is only for adults. Kids are not allowed to do it. 3. Art Materials : Namaste. In this class, we are going to see the materials required to make sin tray and coasters in silicon molds. So the first thing that we have is the silicon mold, which is rectangular zig zag shaped mold. Dimensions are nine by 12 " then the colors that we are going to use today is purple color. Then we have the cream color. So we are going to use two colors today. Then we have the paper cups, so this is a bigger paper cup, and these are the smaller paper cups, which we are going to use to split our sin mixture. Then we have the sticks, so these are the sticks. Then I have the heat gun. So this one is the heat gun which I will use to burst the bubbles. Then we have the gloves. Of course, gloves are a mandatory for any raisin artwork that you do. So these are the materials which we are going to use, and then we also have Raisin and Hardner. So we are going to use raisin, and then I have Hardner. So this is about the materials. See you in the next class. 4. Mixing ratio and proportion : Welcome to the class. Now in this class, we are going to see how we have to mix raisin and harder mixture and then how we pour the mixture in our mold. So before starting, we are going to put on the gloves so that nothing sticks on my hand. Okay. Now I'm going to take sin and hardener in our cup. Now, for this tray, I'm going to take sin and hardener in three is to one proportion. Okay? So this is just to show you that we can work with different kinds of sin for different purposes. Okay? So for some projects, we can use two is to one or three is to one or one is to one proportion. All right. So first, I'm going to take reason. This is reason. I will take the bigger cup and I will pour. Now, this is three to one proportion. That means three parts of reason and one part of hardner. Okay, so that was three parts of reason and now one part of hard nerve. Now I'm going to use the mixing stick to mix our liquids, basin and hadner. So while stirring, I may just remove the glove. I just stir. Just make sure you mix the mixtures very well. Otherwise, some part of it may be unmixed, and then the tray might not get fully hardened. So we are going to mix both the liquids very well thoroughly. This part is really very important. We cannot skip this part. And before you start, just make sure you see the time for how long you're stirring the mixture. So this depends on which brand you use for this brand, we are going to mix this liquid for about 3 minutes. So as we have discussed in our previous videos that mixing time, stirring time, everything will be different for different brands. So whichever brand you go for, make sure you read the instructions. So now we are going to stir it for some more time. And it's turning out to be pretty nice. The mixture is getting mixed well. Oh Make sure you move just in one direction and do not keep on changing the direction. So wherever you decide to do, make sure you cover the floor or the table with a plastic sheet or with a paper or whichever you think is good. So the one that I'm using is reusable plastic that I have been using for quite a long time. You can just reuse this over and over again. Or you can cover the floor with the newspaper or anything else that you have, and the floor should not be tilted. Otherwise, all the sin mixture will start flowing towards one side if the floor or the table is not in level. And one of the great ways to focus your concentration entirely on your artwork is to have a clean, nice space. A clean space is really crucial if you want your artwork to come out very nice because you need your focus and attention to make whatever you make. So if you are not distracted by many things, then it would be easier to focus just on your artwork. Also a clean space gives you very nice feeling and good positive feeling. So I am mixing this thoroughly and making sure that I take the resin from the wall of the cup to the bottom of the cup. Oh Okay, so it's almost 3 minutes. Whenever you do this, make sure you read the instructions of whichever brand you go for. If it's 3 minutes, then stir for 3 minutes. If it's 4 minutes, then stir for 4 minutes. If it's 10 minutes, 15 minutes, you will have to stir accordingly. Again, if the mixture is not stirred well, your artwork may not dry. So here we are. The mixture is ready. So in this class, we learnt how to mix resin and hardener in three is to one proportion. See you in the next class. 5. Pouring : In this class, we are going to see have to split colors and then pour the mixture in our tray. So I'm going to put the gloves first, and now I'm going to split this mixture which we made in different cups. Now, for this artwork, I'm going to use two colors. Okay? So one is purple. Then I'm going to use cream color. And I'm going to use transparent resin. All right. So here, I have blue and white and purple. Okay, so I'm going to keep all of them in equal quantity. Okay, now we are going to take colors one by one. So this one is purple color. Um the quantity would be 10% to the quantity of sin and hardener mixture. Oops, I just dropped some color which I will clean. So this is the purple color which I have just added to the mixture. Now I'm going to take cream color. Again, 10% quantity of the color to the quantity of the mixture. All right. Now, we are going to stir the mixture one by one. So you can start with any color, whichever you want and just make sure there are no blobs of color left. So I'm just mixing the color very well, making sure there is no blob left. So it just takes about ten to 15 seconds to do this part for each color. And then I'm going to move on to the purple shade. Again, mixing for about ten to 15 seconds, making sure there are no blobs. So we have to do this very carefully. And All right. So I have both the colors ready with me, and now I'm going to pour them one by one. So I'm going to take this tissue paper and just try to wipe off this purple which I have mistakenly poured. So these are some of the things which might happen with your project as well. So this is how we are going to fix the errors that we make. Okay, so now we are going to start pouring our mixture. So we are going to start with the purple color. This one is a purple color. First, we are going to pour the purple colour on the edges this way. Making thin line like this. And to cover up these parts, I am going to take the stick and make sure that all the edges are well covered this way. I need to pour some more mixture here. All right. And this is how we spread our mixture and make sure all the edges are well covered. If you think that the reason is less at some spot, you can take the mixture and pour more. Okay? So here we have cold purple color. Now I'm going to take the cream color and start pouring the mixture right after the purple colour this way. So if you think that you should pour more raisin, then you can put more raisin. Like this. Okay. And then again, I'm going to put some purple colour very thin line like this. And I will just spread the colors. Now, it's totally fine that if two colors get merged with each other, that's not an issue. Eventually, this happens because sin is a liquid. So this is how you spread one color. If you think you might need some more color somewhere, then you can just add some more color tern this way. And then I'm going to take some more purple And then, again, I'm going to take some cream colour. This way. And then I'm going to use the transparent color transparent resin mixture which we had, and I'm going to just put that transparent in the center. This way. And then we have covered the entire tray mold with a color, and the remaining colors that we have, I'm just going to utilize all of them So you can just take out anything that's left and just add it. I'm just making sure that nothing goes waste. So I'm just pouring this color randomly just to make a unique design. So this is optional, if you want, you can do. Otherwise, just go with the pattern that we were earlier making. And I have some more transparent reason, which I'll just pure all over. All right, so we have poured all our sin, and now we are going to move on to the designing part. 6. Design : Now we are going to see how to make the design. Now, taking the stick and holding it like this. And we are going to drag the resin from the outer edge to the inner part this way. Like this. So after doing it for a couple of times, I'm just going to take the tissue paper and just clean the stick so that there's no color stuck on the top, and then do the same thing again, moving from the outer edge to the inner edge this way. So it's really fun. That's how we do. And then I'm just going to take some purple colour and put the purple color in the center this way, And then I'm just going to take the stick and drag from the inner edge to the outer edge. This way. So we have created our design. Now we will just make sure there are no edges which are uncovered as in just make sure that the walls are completely touched with sin, and there's no empty spot left. And now I'm just going to use a heat gun and hover over the heat gun. Leave it to dry for a day or two and then demuld it. Take out the tray from the mold. That is called demulding. So we have made our first layer of raisin now, just make sure that it is very undisturbed and untouched and make sure nothing falls on this. Otherwise, whatever falls will also get stuck to it. So just make sure there's nothing stuck on this particular artwork. So I'm going to keep this at a very safe place, and I'm going to cover this with something that I have. Or if you don't have anything to cover, make sure you keep at a place which is away from dust or any other exposure to particles. You can leave it as it is and use it as a platter, or you can stick the handles to it. Oh 7. Final Outcome : So now we are going to see from the close up, how it has turned out. So as you see, these are very beautiful patterns formed. Leave it for a day or two for it to dry completely. We used purple and cream color to get this effect. So it's looking really, very beautiful. And I will just show you that there are no edges which are uncovered. See, I have covered all the edges. The area which is very close to the boundary or the wall of the mold, see everything is well covered. While you make this, just make sure once or twice that no area is left uncovered. So this is a transparent color, the transparent resin, which we poured in the center, which is creating this beautiful effect, creedy effect, if you can just see. I'm just bringing you closer to the artwork, it's looking creedy Just see how beautifully it's made, how beautiful it has turned out. It looks three. Some of the patterns that are formed are kind of transparent or translucent or very thin in appearance, which is, so this is how we have made our sin tray.
