diving deep into one of the most powerful AI features inside Adobe Photoshop,
the Neural Filters. These filters are powered
by Adobe sense AI, and they let you
do some truly mind blowing things like
restoring old photos, colorizing black
and white images, adjusting facial expressions, transferring styles, and even adding realistic
depth or atmosphere, all with just a few clicks. Whether you're a photographer, designer or digital artist, Neural Filters can save
you hours of editing time and open up
a whole new world of creative possibilities. In this course, I'll
walk you through every major neural
filter one by one, explaining what each
does, how it works, and how to combine them for
professional level results. I'll also show you
practical workflows, how to work non
destructively, output, clean results, and refine
effects manually when needed. So grab a photo, open Photoshop, and let's start exploring the power of neural
filters together.
2. What Are Neural Filters in Photoshop 2025?: Neural Filters in Photoshop, one of the most powerful
AI driven tools that can transform your
images in just a few clicks. Whether you want to
retouch portraits, colorize old photos or
add artistic effects, neural filters make
it super easy. I'm using Photoshop
2025 updated version. You can find them by going to the top menu, Filter
Neural Filters. Once you open it, you'll see the Neural Filters panel
on the right side. Some filters are
available directly, while others need to be
downloaded from the Cloud first. To use the neural filter, just click this
button to turn it on. Once it's enabled,
you're all set to start using it and
see the magic happen. This is the preview section. Here you can clearly
see the before and after comparison
of your image. Next, we have the
output section. This is where you'll find
several output options. You can choose to apply the
result to the current layer, create a new layer, or even a new layer with a mask depending on how you want to
keep your edits flexible. And here you'll see the
wait listed filters. These are the upcoming ones that Adobe is still working on. They'll be added
in future updates, so keep an eye out for them.
3. Skin Smoothing Neural Filter: This lesson, I'm going
to show you how to use the Skin Smoothing Neural Filter in Photoshop, step by step. First, let's make this layer to Smart filter for non
destructive editing. This filter is perfect
for portrait retouching. It helps you smooth the skin,
remove small blemishes, and make the face
look naturally soft without losing details
like eyes or lips. It uses Adobe sense artificial
intelligence to detect faces automatically and smooth out imperfections
instantly. Instead of manually
retouching with the healing brush or
frequency separation, this tool can do the
hard work in seconds. Now you'll see two main
sliders, blur and smoothness. Let's understand how
they work. Blur slider. The blur slider controls how much overall softening
is applied to the skin. Moving it to the right increases the smoothness by blurring
out fine skin texture, pimples or pores.
But be careful. Too much blur can
make the face look plastic or fake.
Smoothness slider. The smoothness slider
controls how evenly the smoothing effect is applied across different
areas of the face. When you increase it, Photoshop blends the skin
tones more evenly, giving a polished and soft look. But again, subtlety is key. You'll notice how the skin looks smoother and more refined. Once you're happy
with the result, click Okay to apply it
and see the changes. Since we're using
a Smart filter, you can easily turn
the effect on or off or even edit it anytime. But honestly, this isn't
the best method for skin smoothing because it
tends to blur the entire skin, which doesn't look very natural. So let me show you the best
way to use this filter. First, apply the skin
smoothing filter and set the output
to a new layer. Now, take a look at the result. We've got the effect
on a separate layer which gives us more control. Next, go to layer. Layer mask, hide all, and Photoshop will add a black mask to hide
the effect completely. Then select the brush tool and set your foreground
color to white. Choose a soft brush,
adjust the size. Now gently paint over the
areas you want to smooth. And this way, you can
control exactly where the effect appears for a much more natural and
professional result. And that's how you can use the Skin Smoothing

4. Smart Portrait Neural Filter: This lesson, we're
going deep into Smart Portrait of
Photoshop's Neural Filters. With Smart Portrait,

AI. Let's jump in. Inside Smart
Portrait, you'll see multiple sliders
categorized into groups. I'll explain each
how to use them the possible pitfalls and
combinations you can try. Happiness moves the face toward a more joyful or
smiling expression. Extreme values can look
unnatural or creepy. Photoshop may invent
teeth, et cetera. Let's go ahead and reset
by clicking this button. Now, try using smaller values, that'll help you get a softer, more natural looking result. Facial age slider. This slider can make the
subject look younger or older. Positive value can make
the subject older. It also influences skin
texture, lighting, and sometimes hair color, so hair may appear
darker when younger. Use moderate values too
extreme may alter identity. You can see the changes
live in the preview, so try to keep the values
within a natural range. Let's bring the slider down
a bit and check the result. Always move this slider gently. Small adjustments
will help you achieve a more natural and
realistic result. Hair thickness, adjusts the
fullness or thinness of hair, sliding toward
positive adds volume toward negative reduces it, works well in combination with age or expression modifications. Eye direction moves
the gaze direction of the eyes left or right. Useful if your
subject was looking slightly off and you want
them to look at the viewer. Combined with head direction, it can produce more
natural alignment. Now expressions emotion Sliders. Surprise, raises the eyebrows, widens the eyes, use carefully high values
can distort the face. Anger, changes mouth
shape, introduces tension. Best used with mild adjustments
or negative shifts, reducing anger for natural look. Now see the before and after. Head direction turns the
head slightly left or right. Photoshop attempts to regenerate the
underlying structure. Sometimes head
misalignment may occur. Use alongside fixed head
alignment slider to correct any unnatural separation
or floating head effect. Light direction, adjust the lighting direction
relative to the face. After turning the head,
you can compensate lighting to maintain a believable shadow
highlight pattern. Helps in multi photo consistency
or creative retouching. Retain unique details, Ranges, EG zero to 100. Higher values prioritize preserving recognizable
facial features. Lower values allow more

landscape image all with AI, now open Neural Filters and enable Landscape
Mixer filter. Landscape Mixer is
a neural filter, often under Beta slash
Experimental Filters that lets you transform a landscape or scenery
image by mixing in features from another
landscape or presets, such as seasons, spring,
summer, autumn, winter, time of day, sunset, twilight, color shifts,
weather mood, and so on. These are the preset styles. You can easily apply a theme just by clicking on
any of the images. And in the custom section, you can even use
your own image or upload a new one to apply
its style to your photo. It's a great way to create a completely unique look
let's try this one. And as you can see, the photo instantly transforms into
a winter style look. If you want to reset it, just click the Reset button. Now, let's try another theme. This time, a sunset look. Let's increase the
sunset value a little. Now we've got a nice
warm sunset effect. But there's a small issue. If you look closely,
you'll notice the filter also changes
the subject's shape. Let me show you
before and after. To fix that, turn on the preserved subject option and to match the
subjects tones better. Tick, harmonize colors. Still, we have a few areas
that don't look quite right. Now we need to fix these area, set the output to new
layer and click Okay. Now we have two images, one original and one
with the effect applied. To fix these issues, let's mask this layer and use the brush tool to carefully fix the problem areas. Now use a soft brush, gently paint over the areas
that need correction. Now it looks much better. Now, let's refine the
colors a bit more, create a new layer and change
its blend mode to color. Pick a color that
matches the tones you want and with a soft brush. Gently paint over the areas
that need correction. Finally, apply a
slight Gaussian blur to blend everything smoothly. Now, let's adjust the opacity to fine tune the effect and
get a perfect result. I next, group layer one
and layer two together. And take a look at

of your photo. When you use Style Transfer for the first time in Photoshop, you'll need to download
some of these styles. For example, in the
image styles category. If you see a small download
icon on a thumbnail, it means that particular
style needs to be downloaded. You can either download all styles or simply click
on the one you want, and Photoshop will automatically
download it for you. Now, in the artist
style section, let's apply one of these
styles and see how it works. Once the style is applied, you'll find several
important controls. Let's go through
them one by one. Style strength controls how strongly the style is
applied to your image. Let me show you
before and after. Style opacity, adjust
the visibility or intensity of
the applied style. Detail controls how fine or textured the brush
and patterns appear. Background blur adds a blur to the background for a
softer depth effect. Brightness increases
or decreases the overall brightness
of your image. Saturation controls
the color intensity, making your image more
vivid or more muted. Preserve color, keeps
the original colors of your target image, or lets the style override them. If you check this, you retain your photos
color palette more. Now, take a look at
the before and after. You can see how beautifully the style transforms the photo. Remember, small adjustments
often give the best results, play around with different
styles, tweak the strength, and you'll discover endless
creative possibilities. Let's go ahead and reset the
style and try another one. Adjust the sliders to
fine tune the result. And again, check the
before and after. And once you're satisfied, set the output to new
layer and click Okay. And again, check the
before and after. Now, let's move on to
the image style section. Choose this style. And you'll see how the photo instantly
takes on that artistic look. And again, check the

in Photoshop 2025, the Harmonization Neural Filter. If you've ever done a composite, placed a person
or an object into a new background and struggled
to make it look real, this filter is designed to
help you match lighting, color, tone, and
shadows automatically. In this document,
we have two layers. One is the subject, and the
other is the background. We've taken a subject from another photo and
placed it here, but as you can see,
the colors and lighting don't quite
match the background. So let's fix that using the
Harmonization Neural Filter. First, select the subject layer, then open the
Harmonization filter from the Neural Filters panel. Next, choose the background
layer as the reference, so Photoshop can automatically match the subject's
colors to the background. Take a look at the
before and after. You can already see
a nice improvement. The subject now blends much
better with the background. Let's fine tune
it a bit more for a more natural look.
Adjust the strength. This controls how strongly the filter applies
the color match. Then tweak the colors, saturation and
brightness sliders until everything
looks well balanced. Check the before
and after again. And now the image looks great. Once you're happy
with the result, set the output to new
layer and click Okay. Let's take another look
at the before and after. The difference is clear
and much more natural. Now, let me show you
one more example. Again, we have two layers, one for the subject and
one for the background. Let's match the subject's
color and tone. Right now, it doesn't blend
well with the background. First, select the subject layer and open the Harmonization
Neural Filter. And choose the background
layer as the reference. Instantly, Photoshop
adjusts the color and tone to match perfectly. See the before and after. You can still fine tune
the sliders, strength, color, saturation, and brightness for a
more natural blend. Take a look at the
before and after again. Now the subject fits
beautifully into the scene. The colors are balanced, the lighting looks natural, and the result is seamless. Remember, it all
depends on how much you want to match the subject's
color with the background. A little adjustment
goes a long way toward achieving a
perfect, realistic result. The Harmonization Neural Filter is a game changer

predefined color styles that you can instantly apply. In the custom section, you can use your own
reference image to transfer its color
tones to another photo. Let's start with
the custom option. Now select your reference image. Photoshop will
automatically transfer the colors from that photo
onto your current image. Take a look at the
before and after. I already looks much better. Let's fine tune it a bit
more using the sliders. If you tick preserve luminance, Photoshop keeps the
original brightness of your target image while
applying the new color palette. This helps avoid unwanted
exposure shifts. The color strength
slider controls how strongly the reference palette
is applied to your image. Saturation adjusts how vivid
or muted the colors appear. Hue lets you shift the
overall color tone slightly without replacing
the entire palette. You can also adjust
the brightness to better balance the lighting
between both images. I think in this case, we should untick
preserved luminans. It gives a more natural
and evenly blended look. You can also switch between RGB channels if you want more control
over color matching. Adjust the settings until
you're satisfied and then click OK. Now check the
before and after again. The result looks beautiful
and well balanced. Next, let me show you an example
using the preset styles. Here, you can choose any
color theme you like and apply it directly to your
image. Let's try this one. See how the overall
tone changes instantly. You can still tweak
the sliders to refine the result
for a perfect match. And Now, let's try another preset
and adjust the sliders again to see how it transforms the look
and feel of the photo. Experiment with different
presets and adjustments. Each one gives your image a completely different
mood and color harmony, and the Color Transfer Neural
Filter in Photoshop is a fast and powerful way to copy the color style of one image

this black and white image. Let's open the
Neural Filters panel and turn on the colorize filter. Instantly, Photoshop adds
color automatically. And as you can see, the result
already looks quite good. Let me show you
before and after. By default, Autocolorimage
is enabled, which means Photoshop
automatically detects and applies
suitable colors. If you turn this option off, you'll need to colorize
the image manually. But honestly, that method isn't recommended unless you're aiming for a very specific custom look. In the profile section, you'll find several
predefined color presets. You can try out
different styles and choose the one that
fits your image best. Below that, you can
adjust saturation. You can also adjust
more color setting. Color artifact
reduction helps remove unwanted color patches while noise reduction helps smooth
out grain and imperfections. Once you're happy
with the result and take a look at
the before and after, the difference is
amazing. Click Okay. Now let's look at
another example. Again, open the
colorized filter. And Photoshop will automatically apply color to the image. But this time, let's add some
custom color adjustments. Now, we want to change the
color of this specific area. To do that, simply click
on the part of the image. Then choose the color you
want from the color picker, and Photoshop will apply
it directly to that area. To extend the effect, hold Alt and click
to add more points, allowing you to color
multiple areas precisely. You can also increase or
decrease the strength of each color point to control how intense
the color appears. Et's add one more point
and apply a new color. And now you can see how easily we've added extra
tones to the photo. So it all depends on your creativity and how you
want to colorize your photo. Now, click Okay to
apply the changes. Let's take a look at
the before and after. You can clearly see how the colors have
transformed beautifully. Let me show you one more thing. If you want to remove or soften any extra
color from the image, you can easily do
that using a mask. Just click on the mask, then select a soft brush. And lower the opacity a bit. Now gently paint over the areas where you want to
reduce the color intensity. This gives you smooth, natural looking control over
your final result. Let's take a look at
the before and after. Manually, Photoshop's colorized
neural filter gives you powerful tools to bring black and white images back to life with natural
beautiful colors.
11. Super Zoom Neural Filter: This lesson, we're
going to explore the Super Zoom Neural
Filter in Photoshop. This is a very handy tool
when you want to zoom in, crop or enlarge a
part of your image, and still keep it looking sharp. Instead of just blowing up pixels and getting
blurry results, this filter uses AI to generate new detail and
helps maintain quality. It's particularly useful when you have a lower
resolution image and you need a higher resolution crop or Zoom section for print, for product shots or for any task where you need
quality after zooming. Now we have this banner image. Its size is 480 pixels
in width and height, but this size is too
small for printing, and we want to increase
the banner size without making it
pixelated or blurry. To do this, let's open the Neural Filters panel and enable the
Super Zoom filter. By using the plus icon, we can double the image size. Let's increase it
up to four times. Which gives us a new size
of 1920 by 1920 pixels. Under the Fit screen option, the image will fit neatly within your Photoshop workspace, and with fil screen, it expands
to fill the entire view. Now, let's take a look at the
before and after results. You can clearly see
that the image now has much better resolution and it's not pixelated or blurry anymore. Next, let's go through the enhancement options
available in this filter. Enhance image details, improves the fine
details of your photo, making it look sharper, remove JPEG artifacts, reduces compression artifacts
or rough edges that often appear in
low quality JPEGs. However, in some images, this feature might
not work perfectly. It depends on the image itself. Noise reduction helps reduce unwanted grain or
noise in your photo. Be careful not to overuse it. Too much noise
reduction can make your subject look unnatural
or overly smooth. Sharpen increases
the sharpness and clarity of the image for
a more defined look. Enhanced face details improves the facial features when the
subject's face is visible. But again, results may vary
depending on the image. Once you're satisfied
with the result, choose new document as the
output option and click Okay. Now, let me show
you the comparison between the original
and the enlarged image. You can clearly see
the difference. The enlarged image
looks sharp and detailed even after increasing
the size several times. So if you ever have a low resolution image and you want to enlarge it
without losing quality, the Super Zoom Neural filter is an excellent option to get
clean, high quality results. Remember, although the AI does a lot of the heavy lifting, your manual check and polish are essential for professional
looking results. So whether you're
zooming into a portrait, a product detail
or crop for print, Super Zoom gives you
a big head start.
12. Depth Blur Neural Filter: This lesson, we're
going to dive into the depth neural
filter in Photoshop, a really powerful tool for creating natural
looking depth of field, background blur, and
even atmospheric haze. If you've ever
wanted to simulate a wide aperture lens blur after the fact or separate your subject from the background
with realistic depth, this filter makes that
process much easier. In this image, we want to blur the background to bring
more focus to the subject. In Photoshop, there are many
ways to blur the background, but the easiest and fastest way is by using the neural filters. So let's open the
Neural Filters panel and enable the
depth blur filter. Instantly, Photoshop automatically
blurs the background. However, you might
notice some issues. For example, parts
of the subject like the legs may appear
a bit too blurry. To fix that, simply tick
the focus subject option, and Photoshop will refocus
on your main subject. Now the subject
looks much better and stands out clearly
from the background. Alternatively, you can define
the focus area manually by clicking on the subject or any area you want
to keep in focus. Let's explore a few more
important settings here. Focal distance controls
the depth of focus. If you increase it, the effect
works in the opposite way. Blurring the subject
instead of the background. Focal range lets you adjust how wide or narrow
the focus area is. Blur strength increases or decreases the intensity
of the blur effect. Haze adds a soft
atmospheric effect useful for creating a
dreamy or cinematic feel. Temperature allows you to make the image warmer or cooler. Tint and saturation
help you fine tune the overall color
tone and intensity. I you can also add some grain. It increases a bit
of background noise, which helps the image look more natural and less
digitally perfect. Adjust these settings until you achieve a natural
and pleasing result. Once you're happy with
the look, click Okay. Now, let's take a look
at the before and after. You can see how beautifully the subject now pops
from the background. If you want to reduce the
blur in a specific area, you can easily refine
it using a mask. Just enable the mask, select the brush tool. I lower the opacity and gently paint over the areas
where you want to restore some detail. And that's it. The background looks
beautifully blurred. The subject is in sharp focus, and the overall image looks
natural and professional. Remember, even the best
AI filter is a tool. Your creative judgment and final refinements
make the difference between nice and professional. So go ahead, experiment. Use depth blur on
portraits, product shots, scenic images, try
adding deep blur, strong haze, subtle separation. You'll discover a lot of
creative possibilities.
13. JPEG Artifacts Removal Neural Filter: This lesson, we're going to dive into a very practical tool, the JPEG Artifacts Removal
Neural Filter in Photoshop. If you've ever received or worked with a photo that's
heavily compressed, has pixelation or
blocky color bands, those telltale signs
of JPEG compression, this filter helps you clean
up those artifacts using AI, making your image look sharper
and more professional. In this image, you can see that the edges look a bit
blurry and unclear. We can easily fix this issue using the Artifacts
removal Neural filter. Once you enable the filter, Photoshop automatically
enhances the image and removes unwanted
compression or blur. Now take a look at
the before and after. You can clearly see a
noticeable improvement in the sharpness and
clarity of the image. This filter gives you
three strength options, low, medium, and high. The choice depends on
your image quality. For slightly blurry or
lightly compressed images, use low or medium strength. And for heavily pixelated
or low quality images, high strength usually
gives the best result. Try different values to
see which one works best, and once you're happy
with the result, click Okay to apply the changes. The JPEG Artifacts
Removal Neural Filter is a useful tool for cleaning
up compression artifacts, especially blockiness,
color banding and edge fuzziness in heavily
compressed JPEG images. Remember, this filter
doesn't replace good capture or
original raw files, but when you're working
with compromised images, it can save a lot
of cleanup time.
14. Photo Restoration Neural Filter: This lesson, we'll dive into the Photo Restoration
Neural Filter in Photoshop, an advanced AI tool designed
to help restore old, damaged, faded or scratched
photographs with ease. If you have vintage prints, family heirloom photos, or just images that
look worn out, this filter gives you a big head start in cleaning them up, removing scratches,
smoothing damage, reducing noise, and
restoring color or contrast. Now, let's restore
this old photo using the Photo
Restoration Neural Filter. Simply enable the filter and you'll instantly see the difference in the
before and after view. To enhance it even more, open the filter options and make some fine adjustments for
better details and clarity. The Photo Restoration
filter gives you two major groups of controls
depending on version. Photo enhancement adjusts
overall contrast, clarity, brightness, helps
