1. Hello & Welcome: Hi everyone. Welcome to my first
class on Skillshare. My name is Mahesh Fatima. I am an Angular developer by profession and a self-taught
artist by heart. You can find me on Instagram
as perfect artwork. In this class, we
will be creating these two beautiful
sunset paintings using the medium, gosh. We are going to paint these projects with
three simple steps. Firstly, we are going to sketch out the basic elements together. Then we will start it
off with the background. And lastly, we will add
some elements like clouds, trees, mountains, and many more. After this class, you will have the confidence to paint any
kind of gradient landings. And by adding some elements, you can create beautiful
paintings of your choices. We are also going
to discuss about the materials you will
need to get started. So take your first step with
me and see you in the class.
2. Supplies needed: Let's quickly have a look on the supplies which is
needed to get started. The first thing you will
need is the goulash colors. Here. I'm going to use gosh set. Free to use any gosh
colors you have. For the mixing palette, I'll use the same. The next thing you will need is a masking tape, washi tape. Here, I'm going to use this limited number
of paint brushes. All you need to have a large
and a small flat brush. I have number eight and
number zero flat brush. For the round brushes, I have 012 and number three. So basically, you will need a mix of flat and round brushes. You can use any
brushes that you have. Now let's move on to the paper. I'm going to use 300 GSM wash papers from
the brand is and Sangam. You can use any watercolor
papers as well. So basically, you
can use any papers, but I'll suggest you to use
more than 160 GSM paper. Last but not the least, a jar of water and a
tissue or a piece of code. And that's all you need. So get your materials ready. And I'll see you in
the next lesson.
3. Sunset with Mountains : Let me quickly introduce
you with the colors. Here. We will need
this primary blue, Prussian blue, primary yellow, orange, green, white,
black, and burnt umber. Okay, so let's start
this project with a simple sketch of what
do we are going to paint. I'll start this sketch with
the horizon line first. Then I'll place my
mountains on top of it. Somewhat like this. And two trees on the left side as well. So we are done with our sketch. Now, let's paint on it. Next. Start with this guy. First. I'm ready with my colors. So I'm going to mix my
blue with a little bit of white and a tiny bit, a touch of burnt umber to
tone down the vibrancy. Here is this swatch of color. Now I'm just going to apply
this mixture onto the paper. Somewhat like this. Now. More white into the same mixture and blended
using back-and-forth motion. Okay, I hope it's clear. Now I'm pretty satisfied
with the blending. So let's move on
to the next part. But this, I have my
primary yellow here. I'm going to add a little bit of orange and white into it. Somewhat like this. Now, I'm just going to apply this
mixture at the bottom. And we will repeat
the same process. Again. I will use
white tone down the vibrancy and make a lighter gradient
as we did earlier. So I'll stop here. And in between these two colors, I'll use pure white, which is titanium white. And I'll blend it evenly. Somewhat like this. So I'm using a damp brush
here and just using back-and-forth motion
to blend it evenly. I hope it's clear.
4. Mountains & Grasslands: Let's add of a mounted. So for that, I'm
using little bit of Prussian blue
mixed with white. As you have seen, we have two mountains in our difference. And this one is far from us, so we can't see it properly. And that's why we have used a lighter color to
show that hazy effect. I'm using my flat brush, but if you want, you can use
your round brush as well. Now let's add more Prussian
blue in the same mixture. And I'm going to place
it over my sketch. So basically, this mountain is quite visible as compared
to previous one. That's why it's darker
and much more closer. Okay, so I'm going to
fill these areas quickly. Die completely. Meanwhile,
their spleen steep. So for that, I'll be using
my flat brush again. And with that, I'm going to apply a layer of
black like this. Now, I will add a bit of
green into the black. And he was this only on
the outer areas like this. Now, I will use the fresh green
and give it a good blend. It looks somewhat like this. Now it's time to
add some highlight. So for that, I'm going to use my primary yellow only
in the middle part. Okay. I'm just gonna give
it a clean and nice blend. Okay. And yeah, we are done with our grassland.
5. Clouds: It's time to add some clouds. So for that, I'm going
to use my white, orange, Prussian blue, and a
little bit of black as well. When you mix all these colors, you will get the
dark gray color. But here I will use more white
to tone down its vibrancy. Okay, So we have got
the perfect color. And now I'm going to add some
random clouds like this. Hello, I'm using my
small flat brush. I'm gonna make some
random is true. It is drugs as a base layer. Don't forget to add some
random teeny tiny clouds. I know it's looking
pretty flat right now. But don't worry, we will
place highlight on top of it. It will look perfect,
fluffy clouds. Just to go with
the same process. Now, it's time to
place the highlights. So for that, I will use a little bit of white
in the same mixture. I'm going to place it on
the right side like this. Don't worry, just randomly add some highlights
on top of it. Now I'm switching
to my round brush. And I'll repeat this
process one more time. This time I will add more
white into the same mixture. So basically, you
don't have to apply this lighter gray
color everywhere. Just FYI this on the
higher blinds, only. Somewhat like this. Now, use a clean damp brush and
give it a smooth blend. Make sure you don't overdo it. Let's add one more layer. But this time I'll use my lemon yellow and a little
bit of orange into it. Now and repeat the same
process like VM did earlier. Basically, I add a first layer with this dark orange color. Then I'll add a little bit of white and place the
highlights onto it. Now, I will use a damp
brush to blend these two. Nurse. And yeah, it still isn't. It?
6. Trees and Bushes: It's time to add
our final element. So for that, I'm going to
fill the basic shape. Here. I have used a straight line as my basic shape you can use
so good. What any shape? On top of it? I'm going to add some teeny tiny dots like this. Okay, so now let's add
this on a project. As you can see, I have
started with a line, and now I'm going to use
some fine strokes and dots to place our
bushes like this. I hope you won't find any
difficulties while painting this because it's pretty
simple and easy to paint. Just a final touch with
some super fine dots. Now, let's move on to the trees. So for that, I'm going to add two straight
lines like this. And I will use this kind of
slanted strokes like this. Okay? So this is gonna be
our basic structure. And we will add some
strokes on top of it, like we usually use
in the palm trees. Okay. Okay. So let's paint it together. Yeah, I have made the branches. Now. I will start filling those branches with some
super fine strokes, just like we fill the
branches of the font, please. Okay. And I'm just going to fill this entire section with
these ether details. When you are moving
towards the end, make sure that you have
made those ends wider. And also fill these
leftover areas of bits and the strokes. Just like this. As you can see, I'm going
to repeat the same process, but this tree as well. I'm going to add two goods. And with that, we're done
with our first-class project. It's peel off the masking
tape and see how it looks. This is the final look. I hope you enjoyed
painting this.
7. Silhouette sunset : So let me quickly introduce
you with the colors. Here. We will lead
this ultramarine blue, burnt umber, white, primary yellow, orange, red, one yellow and black. Okay, Let's start with
our sketch first. This is our reference picture, and I'm just gonna go
with the rough sketch. I'm not going to add
all the elements, simply going to sketch the
main or the basic elements. Somewhat like this. So this is how it looks. I'm ready with my colors. Now, let's start
with this guy first. So for that, I'm going to
use my ultramarine blue with a little bit of white and a
touch of burnt umber as well. I'm just going to
give it a quick mix. So this is how it looks. Ok, so I'm going to cover
the top portion with this mixture like this. So I'm done with my first layer. Now, I will add more white
into the same mixture. And here's the swatch
of our second color. So let's add the
second layer to. It will look like this. Now, I will repeat the same
process one more time. Basically what I'm doing
is I will gradually add more white into the same mixture to form a beautiful gradient. It will look something like. So. Now I'm just going
to wash my brush and I'll use this damp brush
to blend it smoothly. Now let's move on
to the next spot. Here. I have my orange, and now I will add
a little bit of red into it and give it a good mix. It looks somewhat like this. Okay, so let's apply
a thin layer of this mixture on
top of our sketch. Now, I will add my
warm yellow into the same mixture and going to apply on top of
this dark orange color. Somewhat like this. This time I will add lemon yellow into the same mixture and we'll
repeat the same process again. Basically, the more you will use color variation
into the painting, the more it will look realistic. And also, we will get a
beautiful gradient blending. Now it's time to add pure white, which is titanium white, in-between these two colors. And we will give it up. Very nice and smooth blend. Okay? So this is the final look
of our gradient sky.
8. Clouds: Our skies now dried completely. Explain the Cloud. So for that, I'm going to
use my titanium white here. I'm not going to use
a lots of water, just a touch of water or the damp brush is enough to
get this beautiful texture. I'm just going to use some
random lines, basically, some long and short
lines to give an illusion of a
scattered clouds. I'm just following the
difference immaterial to get the idea where I have
to place these clouds. Don't forget to add teeny
tiny clouds here and there. I will add some
clamps here as well. Just look at these dry textures. It looks so beautiful, isn't it? Okay, So here I'll use more
water to place our highlight. So for that, I will walk with thinner consistency just to give it a light blend. Somewhat like this. Now, I will use lemon
yellow and warm yellow to give that sunset
effect in our painting. Lastly, I'll play some white
in the middle section. And yeah, it's done.
9. Silhouette & Power lines: It's time to paint silhouettes. So for that, I'm going
to use my black. And I'll start by filling
out these areas first. So it's pretty simple.
Let me explain. All you have to do is fill these main elements first
and leave the rest. Okay? I'm just going to speed up this process. I hope you won't mind. Okay, So I am done. Let's paint our last element. That is power line and
a street light as well. Now, I'm just going to quickly trace my differences sketch somewhat like this bookie. So for this small power cables, I'm going to use two
horizontal lines. And one is small, so Gil
on top of it, like this. Street lights, I will use
lemon yellow as a base layer. Then I will add a
layer of orange on corners and give it a good
blend using a damp brush. Now, I will use
white as a highlight on top of it and
blend it evenly. Okay. It's time to switch
to the detailing brush. I have my zeros, zero brush. And with that, I'm going
to add some power lines. So for the tick power cable, I'm going to use semi-circles on the edges, somewhat like this. Okay. Add one more to the cable on the
left side as well. It's time to add one
more power line. And I will attach them
together like this. Okay? Now I'm going to add some tint
power lines as well. Just want to add some
random strokes like this. Okay? Add some random cable
on this side as well. And yeah, it's done. It's time. Peel off the tape. And let's see how it looks. It looks so beautiful, isn't it? I hope you enjoyed this session.
10. Wrap Up!!!: Thank you each and everyone
for joining this session. I hope you enjoyed
painting along with me. Do upload your projects as well. And please don't forget
to leave a review. Also, let me know what
fat is your favorite? Mine is fluffy clouds. Okay. So I'm going to make
it a little bit easier by providing you some options
like gradient blending, deep feeling, or small details, things like adding bolts
on the corners, et cetera. Maybe something unique
with your own perception. Until then, happy painting.
