3. Introduction to Notion: In this lesson, we will get
to know more about notion, where you can use it and other important tools and features that you
should know about. Notion combines note taking, task management, and
project organization. It is a versatile and
collaborative work space for different types of work. First, project
management Notion is a powerful project management
tool enabling teams to create band boards, timelines, and to do lists. It helps in tracking tasks, deadlines, and overall
project progress. Second, collaboration
and communication teams can use Notion for
collaborative documentation, meeting nodes, and
communication. It centralizes information, making it easily accessible
to all team members. Then content creation. Content managers can use
Notion for drafting articles, blog posts, or any
other written content. The block based system
makes it easy to embed multimedia elements and create visually
appealing layouts. Finally, knowledge base Notion serves as an excellent
knowledge base allowing organizations to
document and organize important information
processes and resources. Now let's talk about
how notion can be useful even in managing
your personal affairs. First, task and goal
management notion is effective for managing personal tasks to do lists and long term goals. It's flexibility allows users to adapt it to different
productivity methodologies. Next up, habit tracking
notion's database functionality can be utilized for
creating habit trackers. Users can monitor
their daily habits and progress over time. Then visual journaling, you can use Notion for
digital journaling, keeping a record of thoughts, experiences,
and reflections. The platform's rich text and multimedia support enhances
the journaling experience. Finally, managing
personal projects, whether planning an
out of town trip, organizing personal
projects, or maintaining a recipe collection
notion can be customized to suit
various personal needs. I'm sure just by
mentioning how notion can be useful for work
and personal stuff, you're getting super excited
to get immersed with it. I know because I am too. Before we discuss that, I'll first introduce the
key elements in notion, so you can be familiarized
with them better. See you in the next lesson.
4. Setting up your Notion account: For this class. You don't need to sign up for a paid plan, you can just sign up
for the free plan. You can still try out
the awesome features of Notion even on the free plan. Also, you can access Notion
through their web based app, desktop app and even mobile
app convenient, right? You can use it
whichever way you want. Okay, now is your
notion account ready? Cool. Let's dive right in. First up is a page contains
a variety of content. Think of pages like
canvases, four blocks. To create a page, click
this plus new page button, or press control plus n, or click this plus
button right here. You can either begin with a template or totally
customize your own. Next up we have blocks. Everything that sits on a
page is called a block. Blocks are the basic
unit of data in notion you can mix and
match different blocks, such as texts, images, tables, checklists, databases,
embedded files and more. This allows you to create unique pages and tools
for you and your team. Notion allows you to
add basic blocks, advanced blocks,
databases, media and more. Then we have database. A database is a type
of block in notion. Think of a database as a
container and it lets you hold and organize multiple notion
pages in a single structure. Now you can choose
different views for your database to be able
to best present your data. We have table view, board view, calendar view, list view, gallery view, and timeline view. Don't worry, you'll get to
know each one of them later. Then finally, we
have properties. Properties sit inside a
database such as text, URL's, select status and more. These serves as a tool to keep your information organized
inside a database. They're similar to rows and
columns in a spreadsheet. It's a powerful way to manage and make
sense of your data. Oh, by the way, since Notion
is highly customizable, there are a lot of widgets you can integrate into
your Notion page. Take a look at
these websites that would be useful in
building your notion. We'll be mentioning and using these websites a lot
in the next demos. All of these apps have great free features to sign up using your e mail address.
And you're good to go. I'll leave these links in the Resources tab so you
can check them out later. In summary, Notion
is a versatile tool that seamlessly integrate
work and personal life. It's adaptability,
collaborative features, intuitive design make it a popular choice for
individuals and teams looking to streamline their workflows and
stay organized. Now I think you're ready. In the next lesson, we'll begin immersing
ourselves into notion. Make sure you have a
fresh mind, a laptop, and your water
within arm's reach because we will be diving
into notion deeper. If you are ready, I'll see
you in the next lesson.
5. Basic Blocks - Text: Let's make notion
super easy for you. We'll begin by
checking out notions, cool features, starting with
something called blocks. Think of blocks like the building blocks
for your online space. They're super flexible
and can be customized to organize team up
and handle info. Blocks help you break down
tricky info into easy parts. You can move them around, change the order, and
group them together. It's like creating a neat
and organized online space that fits just right for you. This part is a lesson and
demo rolled into one. I made a dedicated
page for Notion one oh one tutorial so
that I can take you deeper into each
feature and tool. You can access the
Notion 11 tutorial in the Resources tab. So you can explore on your own. Just make sure to click
Duplicate to make a copy and play with it so
you can explore it better. Now if you're ready, let's start exploring blocks. For this demo, we will discuss the blocks
that is available in non blocks can be divided into basic blocks and
advanced blocks in No shan. As you can see, the
basic blocks has different features under it
also the advanced blocks. Don't worry, we will discuss
each one of them one by one. Here we have the feature of the basic block and then the key features
or what it does. Let's try to explore. Click the open to
open inside Peak. This feature is for
writing plain text. This is a sample of a text. To add a text in your notion
page, just simply type. For example, hi my
name is Christine. Now to change the colors of
the text or the background, just simply click the six
dots here to open the menu. Then go to colors. Let's choose, for example, blue. There you have it. The color is changed into blue. Now if you want to change the background color,
let's go again. Let's pull up the menu
and then choose Color. And then let's say we are
choosing the yellow background. They have a roster of available colors in here
that you can choose from. Just choose yellow background, the entire line will turn
into yellow background. Now let's go back to the
previews default color. Now for example, you just want to change the
color of this word. For example, the name Christine simply highlight
that specific word. Then a menu bar or a
tool bar will open up. You can either turn it into
bold or just click control B. You can italicize it, put an underline at the strike through or
turn it into a code. It will look like this. Now let's go back. Our plan
is to change the color. Just simply click this
text color button here and click the drop down. Let's say I want it
to turn into pink. Choose pink. There you go. You only change color, the text color of
this specific text. Now I want to add an Mog. Just simply press and then
type MG, click Enter. Then you will see the
supported Emoges from. And you can choose
from the roster here on which Mogi you want to add. But if you're feeling lazy, just like me sometimes, if you're in a hurry, just type the keyword of the Mogi that you
are looking for. Let's say you are looking
for a light bulb. Okay, once you
enter the keyword, it will show up like this. Just click this, okay? There's a light bulb.
Now, for example, I want to add a heart again. Let's press slash type, or mog, and it will
show up like this. Then let's say I
want to add a heart. Just type in heart. You have here different types of heart emoges that are
supported by notion. Let say I want to add this one. Yeah, there you go.
You have a heart mog. That is the text.
6. Basic Blocks - Page: Now moving on, we
have here page. The key feature of a page is to embed a sub page
inside a page. Let's talk about pages. These are all called
pages just like this one. This is a notion page and
also the notion one on one tutorial is a notion
page for easy reference. I want to call it
as a main page. Now for example, I want to add a sub page inside the
notion one on one tutorial. This is how you do it. Let's pull up all about pages. Let's see when you
create a page. This is exactly an example of sub page inside a main page. It will look like this
in this database. Each of these are
called sub pages. All of these are
called sub pages. It will look like this. Now let's try to create
a page or a sub page. You can simply type
look four page, which is the second one. To create a page, it will pull up to an
empty page like this. You can add a title page
example, let's say. Then you can either start with an empty page or
look for a template. Or choose a template. Let's try to start with an empty page. Now you have an empty page. You can add any type of block that you want
to add in notion. Okay, let's go back to
where we came from. This is what it looks like. If we add a sub page
inside a main page, it will pull up like this. For example, let's say hello. This is a sample of a sub page. However, if you want to
view it in full page, just simply click this button. If you want to change the
font of your entire page, just simply click this three
dots up here to open a menu. And then choose from
the different styles. Now we have default, but I want this Serif. You can also choose this style, which is good for
drafting and notes. Okay, this is mono, this is what it looks like. I want to choose the Serif. Now, as you can
see, you are only occupying this part
of the notion page. If you want to view
it as full width, simply tuggle on this button
and it will look like this. You can maximize the whole page. At the top here, you will
see where you currently are. We came from the page and then inside we
create the sub page, which is this one. If you want to go back, simply click which page you want to access or click
the go back button. For now, let's click this one. That is a page. Now
the default icon for a page is like this. It looks like a document. But if you want to change icon, just simply hover here and
then click and then choose from different emojis or
icons available in Notion. You can actually create a custom design for
your icons by simply clicking this custom
and then upload file or even paste
the link to an image. Now let's choose the icons. Let's say I want to
choose this bookmark. Once you click that,
you can actually choose from different
colors, which is nice. Let's say I want to
choose the orange one. Your icon will look like this. Then once you open your page, your icon is in here at the top. And you can even add a cover to your page by simply
clicking a cover. Now Notion suggests a
cover page for your page, but you can change the
cover by clicking this one. Then choose from the gallery. You can upload your own
or base an image link. Or you can even view from
the roster of Splash, let's say I want this one. Simply click there you have it. You have changed the cover. However, if you want to
reposition your design, simply click this and
then drag the image to reposition to which
frame you want it. Let's say I want it like this. Then if you are okay, click save Position.
So there you have it. You have styled your page. So that is what you
can do to your page.
7. Basic Blocks - To-do List: Now let's go back to the
notion one on one tutorial. Let's explore the to do list feature which
is a basic block. Now To do List is for tracking
tasks with a to do list. Let's try to open. Below is an example of a to
do list just like this one. To create a list, just simply type and
then type to Do, or look from the roster
available here on Notion. Then click To Do List. Another way is by
simply hovering the plus sign button
here to add a block. Let's click that. Then let's
look for the To Do list, which is this one. For example, my To Do
list for today is shot the notion then shot the demo. Then lastly, the demo
for just like that, when you want to
add another option, simply press Enter and then a Checkbox or to do
list box will show up. But if you are done
adding the options, you can simply press the
Enter again so that you can continue adding different blocks or content in your notion page. For example, you want
to add text notes. Now this is your to do list if you want to
highlight To do, let's say to days to do list. If you want to change the
text, just simply highlight. You can turn it into bold. And then let's add a color blue. Now if you're done with a task, just simply press
the Checkbox button and it will show up like this. To show that this
task is already done and you can put in a check. Or if you aren't done yet, just click this to
uncheck the item. This is great for
tracking tasks, checking your daily habits. It's really nice to add
to your notion page. That is what to do. List does.
8. Basic Blocks - Headings: Now moving on, we
have here headings. It's simply to write headings
for your notion page. Let's try to pull up, and then below are
examples of headings. We have three types of headings. We have heading 12.3 Now there are three ways
to create a heading. The first one is
by simply typing. And then choose heading, and then choose which
heading you want. I want to create a heading, one for a big section heading, for example, I want
to say instructions. That is how you
create a heading. The second way is
by typing your text first, let's say ingredients. Say you are creating
a recipe collection. Just simply highlight. And then a tool bar will show up and change the text
into a heading. Let's say I want to
create a heading two, there you go, it
turns into a heading. The third way in creating a heading is let's
first type the word. Let's say I want
to add procedure. Then have your mouse
at the left part of your notion page and the
menu button will show up. The menu button looks
like the six here. When you click it,
a menu opens up. Let's choose the turn into and then change
it into a heading. You can actually choose from different types
of features here, but for this task,
I want to choose heading three. There you go. That is what a heading
one to three looks like. Yeah, feel free to
explore on the headings, but for now, we will move
on to the next item.
9. Basic Blocks - Table: Next is a table. Table is a simple tabular
content for your page. Now to create a table, let's try another way. Simply click or hover here, and then click the plus button. And let's look for the table. This is a table. Then when you
choose that option, it will first look like this. You can add in your data, let's say the name, the age. Now if you want to add column, just simply click this
button here to add a column. Then if you want to add a row, just hover your mouse at
this part right here, and then click to add a new row. Now let's say we want to add more info or more
columns into your data. Let's say platform
and then content. Then if you want to
make it as a bold, simply highlight each one. Click one, click one cell, and then drag your mouse to the right to select the
cells that you want to edit. Once it's selected, just click control B to change
it to bold style. Now let's add the
values, for example, the names Kathy 24 Saving. For example, you are tracking
your influencers or listing down influencers
and their niches. Then we have Christine 28
Tiktok, and then marketing. Then we have Matthew 30. He's on Tiktok and he's
talking about fitness. Now what I want you to do
is to highlight this part. As you can see, a menu
opens up or pops up. Just click on the options. Then you can highlight the header row by clicking
on this Togle button. If you want your
table to look like this or if you want to
highlight your header column, you can tuggle on this button
to make it look like this. Let's tuggle off
the header column. Since the data is up here, the data title is up here. That is how you create a table. Feel free to explore on tables. You can also type type table to create a basic
block table there.
10. Basic Blocks - Lists: Now let's move on to the
next item which is lists. Lists are bulleted
or numbered lists. Let's try to explore lists here. Now There are two
types of lists. We have here bulleted lists like this or numbered
lists like this. The only difference is that for bulleted lists it has a bullet. For numbered lists we
have here numbers. Now, if you want to
create a bulleted list, you can simply start
with a dash button and then to make it look
like a bulleted list, then you can type in the items. For example, things to
bring, sunscreen, brush oil. Now if you want to
create a numbered list, simply type one and then type the dot and then press space. It will pull up to a
numbered list like this. Let's say we have here
list of participants, one is Rose, number
two is Christine, number three is Paul, number four is Paul. This is what a number
list looks like. Another way of
creating lists is by pressing and then type list. Then you can choose
from bulleted list, number list or Tuggle list. Tuggle list, we will discuss
in the next item here, but for now you can
choose from the two. Let's say I want to
create a bulleted list. Again, I want to create top places to visit
in the Philippines. I want to turn it
into a heading, I simply highlight and
then choose heading three. And I want to change the
color and I choose purple. Then I want to create a
numbered list I typed, then choose list, I
choose the number list. For example, you are creating
a round up or a top list. For example, number
one in the list is Pa, number two is Cebu, number three is her Gao. That is how you use lists.
11. Basic Blocks - Toggle List: Next is a toggle list. Toggle lists can show
or hide content inside. This is an example
of a toggle list. As you can see, we
have here client B, client Y, and then client B. Now, for example, I want
to show the content inside client B. I have type
services available, for example, graphic design
and the content planning. I want to hide the content
you have your client Y. And then when I
press this toggle, you can see the
services available like influencer marketing and
content planning, for example. Now for toggles, if you want to show the text
or open the text, simply click this one. It will show you
the hidden text. If you want to hide it again, just simply click this toggle. Now let's try to
create a toggle list. First you can click and
then look for Toggle. Now as you can see, we
have their toggle list. Toggle heading 123. We will first discuss this one, and then later on
I will show you to create toggle heading
one and so on. First, let's create
a toggle list. Click then type in your item, for example, available services. Then you have here payment
options, contract duration. As you can see, our toggles doesn't have any
items inside it yet. The color is light gray. Now let's click this open. As you can see, it says empty toggle Click or
drop blocks inside. Let's click here. And then we can add
different blocks inside. Let's try to add a numbered
list, a bulleted list. Let's say we have
social media marketing, we have Facebook advertising, graphic design,
and copyrighting. Let's see. Now let's start to add different blocks
inside a toggle. Let's say I want to create a
or I want to add an image. Let's upload file and then
let's choose this one. Let's see if these items
will be hidden once I click this button to hide
the content inside it. There you go, the
available services items are hidden when you
click that button, let's try to open. As you can see, it will show up all the items or blocks inside
your notion toggle list. Okay, let's try to
add payment options. Okay. Before that,
I want this to be bold so that it would
be more noticeable. Let's highlight the text
and then click to bold. Let's do this where other
items as well. Okay, there. All right, Moving on. We have here payment options. Let's create a toggle. Let's try to create a call out. Don't worry, we will dive
into call outs later. I'll just quickly
run through this. For example, payment option, let's say the payment options
are Paypal or Stripe. Let's try if it will be hidden. Once we click this
button, there you go. You have hidden a content
here in the payment options. Then finally, we have
your project duration. We can add six months contract. One year contract, we
can end six months. We can even add three
months contract. Then we can add emoji here. Then let's look for
a check mark here. We've added a check mark. I simply highlighted it. And then control C, and then press
control V to paste. And then let's do it again. Highlight and then press
control C on your keyboard. And then press
control V two, Paste. All right, there you go. Let's see if we
can try to hide it in the toggle list there. This is good to make your
notion page more organized net. The next we will move on
to toggle heading list. Let's try to create a
toggle heading list. Let's press and then
look for Toggle again. Let's say I am creating
the heading three. Let's say I want to say, I want to name it as
Company, Mission and Vision. That is a toggle heading. Then let's press
this button here. And then you can even
create a page inside. Let's say we will write
the Mission Vision. Let's create a simply
click this plus button. Look for a page. Let's name it as Mission. Let's create another
page for vision. Simply type, then
look for pet's, name it as Vision. Let's try to go back
to your toggle list. It will look like this. The difference between the
two is this is a page but it doesn't have any
item or content inside. And this one, it has
a content inside already because I press
the Space button. Let's see if it will hide
under the Tuggle heading. If we click this button there, this is good if you
are using Notion as a knowledge base or team portal. So that you can show
your company mission, vision, and other
resources for your team. Once you click it again, you can see the page about
the mission and the vision. If you want to click
or access that page, simply click this and you will be directed into
that specific page. There you have it.
That is all about Tuggle lists and we will
move on to the next feature.
12. Basic Blocks - Quote: Now let's move on to the code. Basic block nodes are used to capture a code
or highlight words. This is an example of a code. I just pulled up
a random code on the Internet and then I
just pull it up like this, or I just entered it like this. To add a code, you can simply type and then look for code. And then choose
this basic block. Let's say the best and
most beautiful things in cannot be seen
or even touched. They must be felt
with the heart. Wow, that is a nice
coat by Helen Color. As you can see, the
coat looks like this. In here, it has a
different color. I just simply highlight the
text in the menu bar or tool bar will pull up and then let's change the
text color to blue. If you want to change
the style of this code, just simply highlight and then let's say I want
to italicize it. Click this one to make
it look like that. Now as you can see
in our notion, tutorial one oh one, we have here a
code feature also. I just want to add this to highlight certain
words or sentences. In here I said welcome
to this notion, one oh one dashboard tutorial that is an example of a code. Let's go back to the code. As you can see it, if it has one line only, it will appear like this. And if it has two lines or multiple lines, it
will look like this. For example, I want to
highlight just one sentence, search for code, then let's type in welcome to this tutorial. Let's say I want to change
it into orange background. It will look like this.
It's nice, right? It's good to highlight
words or add a code into your notion workspace
that is all about codes.
13. Basic Blocks - Divider: Next up, we have divider. Dividers are used to
visually divide blocks. This is an example of a divider. I used it to divide this portion of the notion page and this
portion of the Notion page. Another example is like this. This is a divider also,
this is a divider. To create a divider, simply press the dash button three times and a
divider will appear. Let's try 123 there, a divider appeared
in your Notion page, or you can type in and
then look for divider. Once you see it, press Enter, and then it will look like this. Another one is you can choose the plus button and then look for the divider
in the roster. Here is the divider, that
is an example of a divider.
14. Basic Blocks - Link to an existing page: Now moving on, link
to an existing page. This is used to link to
an existing notion page. Now, to link an existing page, simply type link to page. Let's choose this one. Then an option appears and
then it says select a page. Let's say I want to select
the Christine's nook. Let's click here. It will appear like this. As you can see, there
is a slide up button. If the feature is linked
to an existing page, it will show the Notion
page title Also, you can see the icon in here. Let's try to click, then it will pull up to that
specific notion page. Let's try to go back. This is great if
you want to link other notion pages
into your notion page. For example, for resources
tab or tutorials or other resources that would help your notion page for your team
or your clients and so on. Now I have an example here that says that I linked
an existing page. Let's try another one. Press the plus button and then let's look for link to page. Then let's choose the Notion One on one tutorial home page, It will appear
like this as well. As you can see there's
the notion page title and as you can see
the icon in here. As you can see, I
chose moving icons. If you can zoom in
your Notion page, you will see that it's
also moving in here. It's really cute. Let's try to click this. Once you hover, you will
see the cover image on the page title and also the
initial content of your page. Here, the initial content
is the navigation area. Let's try to click
Notion 11 Tutorial, and it will show
you the dashboard. So let's open in full page
and it looks like this. Okay, now I want to go back. So simply click this Go Back button and you will
go back to this view. That is all about linking
to an existing page.
15. Basic Blocks - Callout: Call outs are used to make
your writing stand out. Let's try to explore, this is actually an
example of a call out. Let's try to create a call out, press and type call out, and then press Enter. That is an example of a callout. As you can see, you have here a space for your
content, for your title. Then you have here an icon. Lets say what I want for the callout is I want
to add my notes here. I want to change the color, the background color
of the callout. Simply click this button here
and then choose the color. Let's say I want to
choose a pink background, it will look like this. You now have a pink background. Then I want to change the icon, just simply the icon here. And then let's put
in the MG there. That is how you change an icon. Now if I want to add more
info to this call out, I would simply press Shift plus Enter so that
your call out expands. I can add different content
or more content in here. Prepare for the
upcoming for this. I can even change
the text style. I want it to be bold
and then italicized. Let's try if I can add or
change into a different color. Let's say I want it
to be color yellow. Oh, okay. If you want to
change the text color, it will turn it into a
default callout box and then the text color will change
into what you've chosen, but I like the previews style. I'll press control Z. Go back to this option, that is all about callouts.
16. Advanced Blocks - Table of Contents: Okay, let's now move on
to the advanced blocks. First we have table of contents. It is used to show an
outline of your page. Let's try to open. This is an example of a Table
of Contents feature in Not. This is actually
an advanced block. It works when your page has a content and
headings inside it. Table of Contents helps you
navigate content faster. To create a table of
contents, add your content. First, add your headings, let's say for beginners, then let's turn it
into a heading one. Then inside, let's say part one. In introduction to the part two, let's one lesson two, like that. Okay, then let's say part
two, navigating notion. Then let's add lesson
one, lesson two. Now let's turn this
part into a heading. Let's say we have here
turn into heading three. Then this one it's turned
into heading three. Again, to create a
table of contents, simply type table of contents. Then it will show the table
of contents in your page. As you can see, we have here
previous content like this. It showed up like this. Then we also have a
notion for beginners, which is this one we have here, part one, part two. It showed up like this as well. Let's try to press this. Let's try to choose the part one Introduction to Notion under the
notion for beginners, let's try to press it is still in the same
page and then it highlighted that
specific information or content that you are
trying to look for. Take note that it works when your page contains
content and headings. All right, that is table
of contents and let's go back to other features or other advanced
blocks in notion.
17. Advanced Blocks - Block Equation: Next up is block equation. This is used to display a
standalone math equation. Let's try to pull up, this is what an
equation looks like. To add an equation, Simply type and then choose
equation or block equation. And it will show up like this. You can add in your equation inside here and then press done.
18. Advanced Blocks - Button: Next we have a button. Buttons are used for custom
automations with a click. Let's try to create a button. This is what a
button looks like. In notion, what you can do with a button block is you can
insert a text or block. You can even add a page
to a new database. When you press a button, you can edit pages, You can show confirmation, or even open a page. It depends on what type of action you require in
that specific button. To create a button, just simply type and then
let's look for the button. We have here the
button, and then press. Then it will show you what actions you can
actually do with a button. We have here a space where
you can name your button, for example, new content. Then you can even change the icon by simply
pressing this one, and then choosing whether
it's an icon or an MOG. Let's choose this alien
new content then, um, when the button is clicked, what step do you want to make? Just simply press
this, add a step. And then you can
either insert blocks, add page two, edit pages, show confirmation,
or even open a page. Let's say I want to
insert blocks first. I will create a block here. For example, I want to create
a new content template. Every time I have a
new content idea, I will press this button
and it will create a certain page that will hold all the information of
the new content idea. Recapping the steps, I created the page by simply
pressing and the page. Then I want to name it
as Content Idea title. I just want them to remind that they need
to create a title here. And then I'll choose
the empty page. I can add content idea, then I can add a space,
inspiration or references. Let's try to make
it like a three. And then let's change
the color into brown. Let's do the same turn
into heading three, and then let's change the color into brown to make it like
a section inspiration. And then let's add in the design brief for the
instructions for the designer. Okay, let's turn it into brown background
into heading three. Let's go back to
the button then we have content idea title
page that we have created. I want to change the icon, so let's add a
thought bubble here, since this is an idea. Now that my page is ready, I will click this gear button
here that says Edit button, and then I will simply
drag the button here. Whenever I press this button, the New Content Idea button, it will insert a block, which is a page which is below. Then I can either choose Insert the block below the button
or above the button. Let's say I want it to
add below the button. This is you're editing a
template in the button. This will serve as some template whenever
I press the button. We have here more options here. You can add step above, add step below,
duplicate, below. You can delete or even
add another step. Let's click done. Let's
try to test this one. Let's try to press this button. As you can see, it
generated a page. Below you can see the content title or new
content idea title here. Every time you press a button, it will show a page or
create a page like this. Let's try to go back. I want to insert the
blocks above the button. I choose above button
and then choose Done. Now remember if you want to
change or edit the template, always edit here in
the edit button and always edit in this
format or in this option. So that you can
create a template and you will see that you're editing a
template in a button. Let's say new
content idea title. Let's try to click the
button then as you can see, you have here new
content idea title and you have a new page. There are a lot of
actions that you can use, so feel free to explore
the button options.
19. Advanced Blocks - Synced Blocks: Next are sync blocks. Sync blocks are used to
sync content across pages. Let's try to open up. Now to create a sync block, simply press and then
type sync block. And then you can
type in press space for AI or slash for
different commands. Let's say heading, welcome. Now as you can see, let's create another sync block. Or let's not add a
content inside it. Says click or drag blocks here, then paste in another
page to sync content. That is all about sync blocks.
20. Advanced Blocks - Columns: Now next we have columns. Columns are used to
create columns of blocks. This is an example
of multiple columns. As you can see, we have here 12345 columns in notion you can create 2-5
columns, I think. Let's try to explore
columns here. To create columns,
just simply type and then column and then choose how many columns
you want to create. Let's create four. This is actually
great if you are creating a board or a home page. Let's say we have here
navigation content calendar. I'm hovering in the Notion page so that I can see how many
columns are available. We have here 123 and then four. Just simply hover and then
click to Add Content, Content, Calendar navigation,
our client guidebook, let's say the team
resources like that. Now to add a content below, just simply press Enter and then add your
content like this. Then you can do it for
other columns as well. There you have it. You can even change the head, turn it into a heading one, turn it into a heading,
one heading on the. Okay, there that is, columns. Now let's go back to the
notion one on one tutorial. As you can see, I have
here two columns. I have one for the gallery
and then another one for the clock in the widget in here. As you can see, you can also
drag or the columns to fit your preferred look or feel of your dashboard or your
blocks here as well. I'm using two columns. One, I created table here
and another table in here. And I can even drag or move. Let's say I want to add
another more column. For example, my content
is here already. I want to add it
as another column. I simply highlight
and then click this. And then to move it, once it shows a line like this, I can simply let go or drop
the item or the blocks, and it will create a new
column or the fifth column. You can even add
dividers per column, and it will show up like this. But this one, the divider is all throughout the notion page. If you want to
make it like that, simply drag this divider and then see until it
shows up like this, a full line and then drop and then it
will look like this. That is all about columns.
21. Advanced Blocks - Breadcrumb: Now we have bread crumbs. Bread crumbs show
current page location. Let's try to look
at bread crumbs. As you can see, you
are inside a sub page. For example, let's create
another sub page in this bread subpages page. Let's name it Sample
of bread crumb. Let's start with an empty page, then let's create a
bread crumb by pressing the look for bread crumb to show the
current page location. As you can see, we are
inside the notion one on one tutorial and under
the advanced blocks, then under the bread crumb and we are
inside the breadcrumb, which is this one
sample of breadcrumb. The main option or
the main feature of breadcrumb is to show where
you are in the notion page. This is good for navigation. You can simply click which page buttons or which
page you want to access. It will serve as button, it will take you to that
specific notion page. So let's say I want to go to the Notion one
on one tutorial. Let's simply click Notion
one on one tutorial and it will go to
this notion page.
22. Advanced Blocks - Toggle Heading: Next up, we have toggle heading. Toggle heading. It's used to hide content
inside the heading. We actually discuss this
inside the toggle list. This is actually a part
of the advanced blocks. As a refresher, a toggle
list looks like this. Once you click this button, it will show you
the hidden texts, which is this one. To create a toggle heading, press and then let's
look for toggle. Let's say we are creating
toggle heading three. And then type in your
content welcome page. Then as you can see, it's color light gray because it doesn't
have content yet. What we will do is press this. It will say as empty toggle and click
or drop blocks inside. Let's create a to do
list to Do okay sheet. Let's try to name it as
Onboarding Client Onboarding. Let's say we are using this
toggle heading list to list down to do lists that they need to comply
for the onboarding. We have onboarding sheet, branding kit, social
media access, and so on. Once I click this button, it will hide the text
under a heading. Let's click this again to
show the content inside. Again, this is a
toggle heading list.
23. Advanced Blocks - Code-Mermaid: Now moving on to the last
feature in the advanced blocks, which is code mermaid. This is used to create a
diagram by writing a code. Let's click open, and this is what a code
mermaid looks like. You can create a
diagram by typing in or writing a code to
create a code mermaid. Let's press and look
for the code mermaid. Or simply and then type Mermaid. As you can see, it
will look like this. To change the items or
the info in the diagram, let's simply change the items in here or even
write a full code. Let's change this
to notion mastery. All right, let's
simply say notion, then let's click or
type in beginner. As you can see, it
changes or creates a diagram and it shows
notion and then beginner. That wraps up the first part
of the Notion 11 tutorial. How was the experience so far? Did you get to know?
Not a little bit more. Feel free to explore the
notion page I shared with you. Take a quick break and come
back to our next lesson for another exciting part
of notion one on one tutorial where
we'll discuss media.
24. Media - Image: In our next adventure, we're jumping into something
cool called Media in Notion. Media. Here plays a big role
in making things awesome. It makes your content pop, helps in better communication, and turns your workspace into a visual dashboard that
inspires creativity. Whether you're teaming
up on projects, jotting down info or
sharing your ideas, adding pictures, videos, and other media files makes notion
way more fun and useful. Just like before we are
mixing lessons with demos. Get your laptops ready and open up the Notion 11 tutorial page. If you haven't grabbed
it yet, no worries. You can download it in the
resources section. All set. Let's dive right in. There are different types of media files you can add
to your notion page. We will discuss them one by one. First up, we have image image. You can upload or embed images. Let's try to explore to
upload or embed image, simply type and then type image. You will see this button. Let's try to choose this. You have here options. You can either upload, embed a link, use
splash, or jiffy. As you can see, this
is an image block. Whenever you see this in notion, you can upload or
embed images here. Let's try to click upload file and then choose from your files on your
laptop or computer. Let's say I want
to add this ideas, that is what an uploaded
image looks like. We also have an embedded image, which is this one. Let's try to embed
an image First, let's look for an image
on let's say Pinterest. Let's say I want
to add this photo. Just simply pull up the link
control C to copy in notion. You can add image, choose the image block and then embed link and then
paste the link here. And then press Embed Image. That is what an embedded
image looks like. You can even scale or move the sites to get the full
image from Pinterest. You can even add the link, that is an example of
an embedded image. Then finally, if you want to embed from Jiffy just like this, press slash and then
look for an image. Let's go to jiffy. You can search from
here, let's say on. That is how you embed a
file from moving file.
25. Media - Web Bookmark: Next up we have web bookmark. A web bookmark is used to save
link as a visual bookmark. This is an example
of a web bookmark. Say goodbye to boring
links in your notion page. You can actually add a link and make it as a web bookmark
or a visual bookmark. This is what a web
block looks like. This is empty, but let's
try to create a new block. Just press and then type in Web bookmark and then
paste the link in here. Let's go back to Pinterest. Let's say I want to
bookmark the same item. Just simply copy the link
and then paste it in here. And then press Create Bookmark, it will show up like this. This is an example
of a web bookmark.
26. Media - Video: Moving on, we have here
video in this block, you can embed from
Youtube or Vimeo, Embedding a video,
looks like this. You can actually play the
video inside your Notion page. There are two ways to add a
video in your Notion page. By the way, before we do that, this is what a video block
looks like on Notion, but this one is empty. I want you to
create a new block. There are two ways, actually. First one is we can get
the link from Youtube. Let's go to Youtube. Let's say we are adding a
resource for your team. We can give a title, team resources, make
it as a heading three. Then the first way to add
or embed a Youtube video is just by pasting the link in your notion page control V, it will show you three options. You can either paste the
link as is, just like this. Simply dismiss or you can embed a video or
create a bookmark. Let's try to explore the three. When I press button, it will show up a
link like this. But let's do it again. If I want to embed the video, I simply choose embedded video. It will look like
this, nice right now. Finally, if I want to add it
or create it as a bookmark, to simply create a bookmark, it will show like a
web bookmark this. Now, there's another
way to embed a video. It's simply to press
and then type in video. The video block looks like this. Then you can either embed a video from other pages
or other websites, or you can upload your Ode. Let's try to embed a link. Click Embed Video. It will show up like this. Let's try to add in
an original video. Again, video, then click Upload, and then choose a video from
your desktop or your laptop. Let's pull up an example
here, the demo videos. Let's say I'm uploading
it like this. It takes a while since you are uploading an original video. There you have it. This is what an uploaded original
video looks like. You can even play
it inside Notion, you have the play button, the volume, the full
screen, and other options. That is the video feature.
27. Media - Audio & File: Next we have is audio you
can embed from Spotify, Sound, Cloud and other sources. To create an audio file, just simply type audio. You can upload your
own or embed a link. This is what an empty
audio block looks like. Then finally, you can
upload files in not. You can either upload a
file or embed with a link. This is what a file
block looks like on no. So it says upload
or embed a file. This one is empty, let's try to create a new one. Press and then choose file. Then you can either
upload a file, let's try to choose a file. Let's say this workbook, just wait for it to upload. It will look like this. Let's try to open the file. And it will be opened like
this on your website. There you have it. You
can upload files on. No, let's try to embed a file. Since this is an
empty file block, let's try to press
and then choose Embed File and then
Paste File Link, and then embed Link. It will show up like this. So let's try it
opens up like this. Awesome. Right. You can add in files for your
team, your clients, which is just make sure
that what you add in your notion page
would make sense for your notion page and
for your objectives for that specific page that is all about media files in N.
So there you have it. We have completed part two
of our Notion 11 tutorial. We've build back the layers of non checking out the
ABC's like basic blocks, the fancier ones called
advanced blocks, and even how non
handles media files. Now let's keep the
momentum going by diving into the exciting
world of databases. Ready for the next lesson? I'll see you there.
28. Database - In-line vs Full Page Database: All right, let's dive into the world of
databases in notion. Think of them as super
organized collections of information that you
can easily shuffle, sort, and play with. Why are they such a big deal? Well, databases in notion
are like magical tables, that can be tables or lists. Totally your call. This flexibility
is a game changer, especially when you're dealing with things like project tasks, contacts, or even
your inventory. They are your go to for
keeping things in order, managing stuff, and
digging into data. Whether it's a simple to do list or a mega
project management, set up databases, let you
customize properties, link data, and
collaborate in real time. Let's head back to the Notion
11 tutorial page and get our hands dirty with some
database action. Are you ready? Let's do this. Going back to our Notion 11 tutorial,
we have databases. Let's now discuss databases. As you can see, there
are different views available in the database
option or block on Not. So we have table
view, board view, gallery view, list view, calendar view, and then
finally timeline view. Don't worry, we will be
discussing and exploring each one of them as we
go through this demo. First, let's define
the difference between the inline and
full page database. All right, in line versus
full page database. In line, database means a database inside a page
or inside this page. Meanwhile, a full page
database means creating database as a sub page and it turns into a full page
when you open it. All right, this is an example
of an inline database. As you can see, you can see the database inside
this specific page. Meanwhile, this is an example
of a full page database. When you create a
full page database, it will show up like this. Then once you click this one, it will show up as a full page. It will open up as a full page. On another tab of your notion, it will pull up or
show up like this. This is an example of
a full page database. All right, let's go back. First, let's try to create
an inline database. Type in in line to see the options of in line
database available on non. Let's select this one
database in line. Then non creates an inline
database just like this. As you can see, you can
see the database inside this page wherein you are trying to create an
inline database. Let's try to name this
one sample database. That is how you create an
inline database in notion. For the inline database, you can see that you have
a default table view. But if you want to add more
views in your database, you can just simply
click Plus and then choose other views
available such as board, time line, calendar,
list, and gallery. Once you've decided which type of database you want to create, select and then press Done. Now you have two
views available. You have a single
inline database, but you have a table view
available and also a board view version of
this in line database. That is how you create
an in line database. Let's now move on to
the full page database. Just simply press and
then search for full. And then choose the
database full page. Let's click then it opens up or creates a new page with
a database inside it. Let's go back to
where we came from. As you can see, we
have here a page block that takes you to the full
page database when clicked. Let's name this sample
full page database. Again, you have a
default table view of your full page database. When you want to
add another view, just simply click
the plus button here and then choose from
the available views in here. Let's say I want
a calendar view, and then let's press done. Now we have for the
full page database, a table view and
a calendar view. This is what a full page
database looks like. It appears just like this on your preview page where you created the full page database. You can even change the icon
here just by clicking this. Then let's look for a file. Your link to your full page
database will look like this. That is the difference
between the line and full page database. Okay. Now that you know
that, let's go back to the databases and available
views for databases.
29. Database - Table view: First we have a table view. It's a table view of a new
or an existing database. Let's try to open and explore just like our
previous example. This is an example of
a table view database. It appears just like this, It's in a table format. We have here some examples like customer name number checkbox
created by and so on. Don't worry, we will discuss
this in further later. Have here a scroll bar below. Then when you want to add properties to your
table view database, just simply press this
bottom to add more columns. Then when you want to add
more rows to your database, just simply press
this new button here. Below, it will create a
new entry in the database. Now, table view database
is great for content or data that is best viewed in
a spreadsheet like view. Just like this, it looks
like a spreadsheet, right? Let's try to create a table
view database in Notion, press and type in table. As you can see, we have here a database under the database. Look for the table
view and then press. Then you have an option
whether to create a new database or select a data source from the
available databases in notion. For this, let's try to
create a new database. Then let's name your table
table view database. There you can actually
further customize your table to make it more
aesthetically pleasing. You can simply click this
and then click Rename. Let's name this as
Information One. Then you can even
change your icon. In here, we have a basic
table icon in here. Just simply press
that icon and then choose which icon you prefer. Let's choose this icon. As you can see, it changes
the icon also in here. Then you can even hide the database title by
clicking the three dots here. And then choose High
Database Title, so that it looks more
minimalist and clean, but it's up to you.
Whichever you prefer. Then you have the basic
name property here, tags. And then you can add more. Let's try to delete this
first, Delete the property, then we can add
whichever information, or property, or data
we want to add. Let's try to add a plus sign. Then we can choose the number and say
like contact number. Then you can choose
the number format. Here, let's say we are, these are currencies and it can even choose
percent number was, let's just choose
the number itself. You can also change
the icon in here, chose this phone handset then, and then you're done. For example, we would like
to change this property, customer's name, and then
change the icon here. And then look for a person
or people for customers. Then you can add in
the customer's names, then add the phone number here. Then you can even add more properties and later
we will discuss it further. For now, that is the table view which is available in
the Notion databases. This is what the table view looks like in the
Notion databases. And remember that the table view is like a spreadsheet like view.
30. Database - Board view: Now going back to databases. Next we have board view. Board view is a ban board
view of a database. Board view is great to
check status of projects. This is what a board
view looks like and we can even customize it to
check status of projects. Let's try to explore. First we have here the statuses above we have to do in
progress and complete. These are entries in the
board view database. They name it as card 123. You want to edit the entry here, just simply click this one
and it opens up a sub page. You can even change
the information here, for example, on client. When you add content
on this subpage, an icon like this will
show up on your card. You can even customize it
depending on your preference. For example, this is
one of your to do list and you are currently
on boarding your client. Just simply click and hold and drag it to whichever
status this belongs, like in progress and
complete and so on. Let's try to create a
board view database. In notion, just simply
press slash and look for Board and then choose
Board View under the database. Again, you can either select a data source or
create a new database. Let's try to create
a new database. Let's say the title
is Project Status. We can further customize
your board view by clicking this three dots
to open up the menu. And let's go to Group. As you can see we have here
the default visible groups available in notion we have to do in progress and complete. Now if you want to customize
this even further, you can do that by
clicking Group by Status. Then you have two options. First we have the group option, which is the default to do
in progress and complete. You have here the statuses
that you can assign on notion. You can sort them by ascending,
manual or descending. Let's choose the manual
you can drag and drop on which way you want to customize the
statuses on notion. As you can see whenever I drag it here it
changes its order. It's up to you on
how you want to maintain the order in
the options in here. Let's go back to this option and then let's go to properties. Let's go to Status. In the status, we can
customize the statuses. Say our project is
clients on boarding. You want to track
all your clients who are currently on boarding. Again, let's go
back to the menu, Select Properties, and then
let's go to the status. And let's further
customize this. Let's say two on board. Then you can even
change the color. Let's assign brown here on the answer on boarding
questionnaire. For example, kick off meeting endorse media files, let's say and sign contract. Now I've added here
a couple of options. I want to further change
the order in here. Maybe we start with a signed contract and then
answer questionnaire, and then endorse the
media and files. And then finally
kick off meeting. Then in the complete, let's say we have
here client onboard. We can even add
another option here like client offboard for
example, or contract ended. Let's sign gray
color for this then. Once you're okay, just
click the X button here. As you can see, it's
still messed up here. Let's try to group it and customize it to make
it look better. Let's press this button here. Go to group. Then we have
here the visible groups. First, let's move this
sign contract again. Up and then answer
questionnaire. And then endorse media until
you go to kickoff meeting. Sorry, we missed another. Let's go to the
properties again, let's go to the status
and let's rename this client on board. And the other one
is contract ended. Okay, let's go
back to the group, and then we have here
again the visible groups. First, we have to onboard. They need to sign a contract,
answer the questionnaire, endorse media files,
kickoff meeting, and then the client
onboarded is done. For example, we have
here the contract ended, and we want to tag that
client as contract ended. But we want to hide
it in this database. Just simply press
this to hide a group. This is what it will look like as you scroll
in your board view. You can see here the hidden
groups. Let's rename this. You have a default, three cards, card 12.3 Let's
rename this client, client B, client C. Now if you want to add or move your clients in here
in this board view, just simply click hold
and then drag again. Click hold and drag into the correct
status of your client. For example, client, they need to sign
the contract first, and then client B is
done with the contract and it's time for the
kickoff meeting and so on. To add more items
in this database, just simply click
the plus new button here and then type client D, or the name of the client. There you go. That is how you use and customize
your board view. If you want to check
out more options, just simply press
this three dots here. It will give you a
lot of customization available in notion you can
even explore on the group. Then also if you
want to add color in your columns to simply toggle this on to make
it look like this. As you can see, this has a color brown in here.
This one has blue. Since the tag is color blue, we have here a client onboard
it as color green as well. It looks good, and
colors help you categorize your
data even better. So that is what a
board view looks like.
31. Database - Gallery view: Moving on to another type of database view which
is the gallery view. It basically just means a
gallery type database view. Let's try to explore now. This is an example of gallery view database in
Nan. It looks like this. A gallery type of presenting data or information
we have here, photos or pictures like this. Let's go to Notion one oh
one tutorial dashboard. I want to show you another
sample of gallery view. This is another example
of a gallery view. As you can see, you
can add a photo or a moving GIF from Jeff. This is what a gallery view
database looks like in here. We have 123456 cards in here, and you can add more
by clicking this one. Let's go back to the
gallery view in here. I have here a few instructions
that you can check out, but we will go through
this in this demo. To create a gallery
view database, simply press and look
for gallery until you find the gallery view
option here, press that again. You can either select a data source or
create a new database. Let's try to create
a new database, we can explore better. This is the default view. When you created a gallery view, you can name your database
like gallery home page, then you can even hide
this if you don't like it. Let's rename this by clicking this And
then choose Rename, Let's say welcome to my gallery. Then let's change the icon. Let's look for a sparkle. You have two options here. I want to choose this one, and there it changes the name, the title, name,
and also the icon. Here we have here
default 123 pages. When you press this one, it's actually a page
or a sub page inside. Right now in the gallery view
it shows the page content. But what if you want
to change that view? Let me show you how. Let's go to the option
or menu tab here. Let's click Gallery. Then in the card preview, it's currently showing
the page content. Let's say you want to show the page cover, it
looked like this. You can even change the card
size, It's currently medium. When you open this one, there is no page cover yet. Let's try to add a covered. Let's choose from the roster. From again, you
have a few options. You can select from the gallery, Upload your own,
get it from a link, or even access on splash. Let's try to use the unsplash. Choose this one, then
reposition, reposition. Then once your case
save position, let's make it look like this. Let's do that for
the other pages. Again, select a page, add a, change the cover, and then let's go to splash items that complement
your gallery. Let's choose this one, same position, the next up. Let's look for skin gear
that has a touch of green, since we are doing
that in the past, a card, let's select
this one there. Then we can add one more and
then add a change the cover. Let's skin. Let's choose this
one save position and you're done. That is how you customize
your gallery view. Now if you don't
want your page cover to be seen and you want the
page content to be seen, just simply press this
and then go to gallery. And then in the card preview,
select page content. When you want your content
to be seen, skin care, for example, we want
to show it like this. For example, you're checking
your habits Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and then Friday, Sunday. You can add page content here. You can even change the
icon by clicking this one. Let's select an icon
with a sparkle. Let's select this magic wand. You can even choose
the color select here. As you can see, it
show ups like this. Select this, choose icon there. Let's try to do this for the
rest of the gallery view. That is gallery view. It's up to you which way you
want to present your data. You have two options. You can show the page cover or the page content in presenting
your data in gallery view.
32. Database - List view: Let's now move on to the next
database view in notion, which is the list view. It's basically a list
view database in notion. This is an example of
a list view database. Let's try to create a list
view database to simply type back and then type in list until it shows
up as list view. Again, you can either select a data source or
create a new database. This is what it looks
like as a default. Whenever you create a
list view database, let's try to name your
database as a sample. This is a default we have here, page one, page two, page three. You can even rename your title, client B, x, Y. And then finally it
pulls up as a sub page. For example, you want to
list like 2024 client list. Then you can even
change the icon here, change it to this icon icon, select the color. All right. That is a list view database. Each item in the list view
database opens up into a new page and it looks like it's linked in the
database just like this. This is how a list view database
looks like in databases.
33. Database - Calendar view: Moving on to the next database, we have calendar view. It's basically presenting
data in a calendar view. This is what a
calendar view database looks like in notion. As you can see, you have here your month,
the current month. You can change it or go
to the past months to see your database in
the previous months even you can look
at the next months. Now to customize your
calendar view database, simply press this
menu button here. Go to Calendar and then
show calendar by date, and then show calendar as month. Or you can even choose a week and it will
show up like this. You can see it's from
Sunday to Saturday. Then if you want to
start on a Monday, for example, your work day
is starting on Monday. And then you want to see your calendar view that
is starting on Monday. Simply go to your menu bar here, go to settings and members, and then choose
Language and region. The you can tuggle on the
start week on Monday. This will change
how all calendars will look like in your app. Tuggle it on When
you tuggle that on, your calendar will start on a Monday and ends
in on a Sunday. That's how you do it. Let's go back to your
calendar view database. I prefer to show it as a month. There. It shows which day
you are currently in. Today is December 19. It has a color red item in here. Now, if I want to add an
item on that specific date, just hover your mouse in here
and then click Add An Item. It creates a sub page in your
database in calendar view. By the way, to create
a calendar view, you can press then
look for Calendar and then choose Calendar View again. You can select your data source
or create a new database. Let's name this as
Content Calendar. For example, let's say
I'm creating a content for our last minute
Christmas recipe. Let's say it will
show up like this. Now, for example, I want
to add a status in here. Let's say not started
in progress, in done. Let's say this is in progress. I want to show the
status in the calendar. Just simply press
again the menu, Go to Properties and Hide. It's currently hidden. The status is currently hidden. Let's hide this. As you can see, there
is a progress or status bar shown in here because we showed it in
the property section. Next, if I want to
add another item, let's say posting on the
23rd Christmas dessert. Round up the content creation. Let's say it's already done. Click Done, then it
will show up like this. Now if you want to add more properties in your database for your calendar view database, just simply press this and
then go to Properties, and then click New Property
to add another property. Let's say we will
add a URL and we will name it as Inspiration. And click Enter. Once you press this card here, you will see another property in here that says Inspo and you can add a link
in this property. Calendar View database is
great for content planning and even planning of tasks that
are time and date sensitive. That is all about
Calendar View database.
34. Database - Timeline view: Then finally we have here
the timeline view database. Let's try to explore timeline view database
looks like this. Timeline view database
is great for managing multiple projects that has overlapping or
different timelines. To create a timeline
view database, simply press and then
look for timeline. Again, you can select a data source or even
create a new database. Let's say I want to
create a new database, it will show up like this. This is the default
view you can view. We're currently
on December 2023. In here, you have options
on different views. Now we are viewing
it as a month. You can change it
in hours, in days, in weeks, in by week, quarter and even year. Awesome. Let's select the month. You can view the past or previous months
by clicking this, or view the future months
or the next months by clicking this arrow here. Let's name your database, for example, team
projects, let's say. Then let's select this. The card 123 pulls
up like a sub page. When you click this, it
will look like this. As you can notice in the date, it has a range. It's not a specific date, unlike the calendar view. Let's compare it to
the calendar view. This is the calendar view. We added an item. Let's pull up the
content calendar. Earlier we added some items in the calendar or
the content calendar. As you can see, the date looks like this because
it's for December 21. But for the timeline view, the date looks like this. It's, you can choose, for example, year end planning. It's from, let's
say December 20. It's from December 20
up to December 30. If you want to add
a remind option, you can click the drop down and choose on
the day of the event, one day before two, or one week before. You can toggle on
an end date or not. You can also include the time. For example, the
time is 10:00 A.M. up to 06:00 P.M. on December 30. You can even customize
the date and time zone. In this, we have here the
date format, full date, this month, year, then time
form 12 hour or 24 hour. And then you can
choose the time zone, Search for the time zone here, or scroll down to
see the options. Once you're okay, press Enter and it turns
into color blue. It means that it will be sending you a notification or a remind on December 20 from 10:00 A.M.
That is year end planning. Let's try to add another one. For example, holiday break. The holiday break
will be from three, let's say for this we
don't want to be reminded, let's keep it as is then. The date is color black
because you don't want to be reminded
for the date. It just shows up in
your timeline view. But if you want to be reminded, it will show up like
this in color blue. You can even drag
your projects or your cards depending on which date you want
them to be included. As you can see, I'm
dragging it and it changes up above here, the date range, let's say. I want to place it here. That is how timeline
view works in. It is great for planning for multiple projects with
overlapping timelines. We've just finished up our
journey into databases. In, we've learned how to use databases to neatly organize
and showcase our data. We've added some spies with database properties to take our organization
game up a notch. The aim to kickstart your notion adventure with confidence
and a whole lot of ease. In our next lesson, we're diving into the
world of properties. I'm so excited to see you there. Until then, happy notioning.
35. Database Properties: Now let's chat about
properties in notion. In notion, a property
is like a fancy term for the fields or columns
you see in a database. These properties hold
all sorts of info, texts, numbers,
dates, check boxes. You name it and guess what? You can customize
these properties to fit different types of data, making your database a
personalized powerhouse. Want to see it in action? Let's swing back to the notion one oh one tutorial page and
explore this magic together. Ready? Let's go welcome
back to this tutorial. For today, we are to discuss
the database properties. Let's look what is a database? Property properties give
context to your database, such as task titles,
descriptions, due dates, URLs,
files, and more. To add a property, step one is to create or
open an existing database. Pull up this one. Earlier we had created a
database in table view. Then on your database, click Properties, or
this three dots here. Let's look for the three dots. At first, you can see
anything like that. Just hover on your
table view database and then look for the three
dots to open up the menu. Then go to properties. Currently, we have
two properties, which is the customer's name
and then the contact number. If I want to add a new property, I just select this
plus new property. Let's say I want to
choose the date. Let's name it as date bought. And you can even customize
it into date format, time format, and so on. Now we have here the property. You can even change the icon or the name depending
on your preference. Let's say date. And I want to choose
a calendar here. This is another example. We have here a table
view database. And it has a lot of properties available and added in
this database one by one. We will get to know each
one of them in this demo.
36. Database Properties - Select: Now next is Select. It's a drop down
menu of tags that can be selected one
at a time only. Remember, that can be
selected one at a time only. Let's try to add a select
property in our database. Let's try to add here by clicking the plus button
and then go to Select. Let's say we are filtering
them in platform. Then you can add an option here, like maybe we found
them on Facebook, on Tiktok, on Instagram, on Youtube and more. You can even change the
color for each option. Let's assign this
as blue, Tiktok, gray, Instagram as purple, and then finally Youtube as red. You can even drag to change the hierarchy
of your options. Once you're okay, just press X. Then in your database, let's say for the first item, we found them on Facebook. Next is Instagram, it
will show up like this. Next is Youtube. As you can see, you can only choose
one at a time. If I want to change
it as Facebook, it will change like that, you can only choose one option. Also, you can either search for an option
in here or create one. Let's say I want to add Twitter. Simply click Create,
Twitter, or press Enter. Then you can change the
color by clicking this. Then let's assign a
yellow color there. That is how you add an option in the select property
of your database.
37. Database Properties - Multi-select: Moving on to Multi Select. It's a drop down menu of tags that can be
added more than once. Take note that you can
add more than once. Let's try to explore again. We have here our
table view database. Let's add an option or
a property. Click plus. I will name it as Events
and then can sort it as manual alphabetical or
reverse alphabetical mode. To add an option, just
simply press this. For example, participated in the Black Friday sale in the
year end sale kickoff event. We met them at the
kickoff event as well. That is how you add an option to change the color
again, also the title. You can simply press this option and then change the
color there and a sign, whichever color you prefer. Let's try to look at it. We created the events
and just simply press. And then you can add Select on option or create one
again, just like earlier. Press Black Friday Sale, Kickoff Event, Year Sale. Let's say they have
participated in all these events
for your business. It will show up
like this example. Participated in the
Black Friday sale and you met Paul in
the kickoff event. Christine participated
in all of them. So that is how you
add multi select.
38. Database Properties - Status: All right, moving on to our
next property is status. We have discussed
status earlier. Status. This property
is group by status. It's a drop down menu
of the statuses. Let's try to explore it again
again in your database. Let's go to the plus
button, Select Status. Let's name it as Progress
or Client Status. We have your options to do, not started and in progress,
complete and done. This is the default. We can actually rename it, No interaction in progress. Maybe we had a client call with this specific
client, for example. This one is for
contract signing. We can actually
add more options. And then finally, contract
signed or even declined. You can change the color
here, turn it to gray. That is how you add a status. Let's look for the
status in this database. The default is no interaction yet or the first status
in your property. And simply press
it and then change which status this
client is currently in. Let's say for client, this one signed the
contract, this one declined. This one is no interaction yet, this contract signing again. All right, that is
all about statuses.
39. Database Properties - Date: Next, we have date to add date timestamps
or set reminders. We discussed date a while ago. Let's, I want to add in our database a date
plus and then choose, let's say, delivered again. You can change the format in here when it's ready
in your database view, simply click and then a calendar shows up and choose the date. You can even select
if you want to remind on the date or a day before and include end
date or include time, say 12:00 P.M. and choose
the time zone date format. There you go. As you can see, it shows up like this. It's a blue color
because it will be reminded on that
specific date and time. That is all about database
properties under date.
40. Database Properties - Person, Files & Media: Next we have Person. It lets you mention other
people in your workspace. This is great if you are working with a team or a client
in your database. You can assign a person, press and then look for person. Then let's say assign to, okay. Then select Search for a
person that is currently in your database and assign it
to that specific person. Next up we have files and media. It lets you upload relevant
files to your database. Again, let's go back to your database to add
files and media. Just simply press this and
then look for files and media. And then let's say
Aja file, audio clip. Then it lets you upload
or embed a file.
41. Database Properties - Checkbox: Next up we have checkbox. Check box looks like
this in your database. Let's try to add one plus
and then choose check box. And then let's say approved. It shows up like this
in your database. Let's try to click this one. For example, this is approved. This one is, it will show up
like this in your database.
42. Database Properties - Email: Next we have e mail. This is great for
e mail addresses. When you enter an e mail in your e mail property, click it. It will automatically direct
you into your mail, laptop, or in your desktop, email, and then email address. You can type in your e mail in here, your client's e mail. And let's say I will type
in my e mail. Okay, that. Then when I press it, it
will open up into my e mail. And Google Chrome and
Outlook and so on. That is how you use the
email database property.
43. Database Properties - URL: Next one is URL. You can add a link to your
website in your database. Let's try to add a
URL in our database. Press and choose URL and
then video in, let's say. Then let's go to Youtube
to look for a video. This is great for resources, let's say I want to use this. Let's go back to your notion
and under the video inspo, paste the link, and it
will look like this. This is a clickable link. Once you click this,
it will open up to your video that
is all about URL.
44. Database Properties - Phone & Formula: Next we have phone numbers. This is great for phone
numbers, mobile numbers. To add a phone number
in your database, simply click plus
button and then go to phone and let's
say land line. You can add in the
property in here. Next up we have formula. You can perform calculations or trigger actions to add a
formula in your database, simply click plus button, Look for formula, and then
let's say formula one. You can add in your
formula in here.
45. Database Properties - Relation: Next up, we have
relation, relation. It lets you add items
from another database as a property to add a relation. Let's go back to
your table view. Add plus and then
go to relation. Then you can link a
specific database in here, for example, this one. Then it is this property is
related to the databases. And choose No Limit Show on databases and then add relation. It will show up like this
link or create a page. Let's say I want to link the
list view page here in here, the gallery view and so on. That is relation.
46. Database Properties - Created time, Created by: Next, we have created time. It lets you add the timestamp
of the items creation. It looks like this. Now for example,
you want to show your database on another
tab of your notion page, just simply right click. And then you can open as
a page, open a new tab, open in full page
inside and more. Let's open a new tab and it
will show up like this there. I have created the
database last December 11. At this time, I have entered
this specific item there. Let's say I want to add
another item in the database. Let's go to the
time created there. As you can see, I have created, or I have entered this item on the database December
19 at this time. Now by it records who created
the item in the database. In this example I
created a while ago, it shows who created the
specific item in the database. It's made by me
last time edited. It adds a timestamp
of last edit. I have added that in
the database already. Let us check the last edited of this database since I have
been editing this database. In this demo it says the last edited time
is today December 19. Then we have here the last edited by records
who last edited the item. It was me again, and it shows it like this. Now to add those properties, just simply press plus button. If you prefer created time, you prefer to record
created by last edit time, last edit by, let's try to create last edit time,
it shows up again. It was last created or last
edited December 19 records. When was that specific entry in the data has been edited
in that database? That is all about database
properties and we have a lot of database properties available in notion to
best present your data. The goal here is to choose the ones that is
best for your data, for your database to
make sense of your data. In Notion, there we have
finished the Notion 11 tutorial. We have finished the basic
blocks, advanced blocks, media files, databases
and database properties. Below here, I have included more resources
for you because I will be filming more videos on Youtube for your
free resources. All right, that wraps up
our Notion 11 tutorial. We've unraveled the basics of notion such as basic blocks, advanced blocks, media files
supported by not databases. To organize and present your data database properties to further organize
your databases, the goal is to kickstart your journey with
confidence and ease. Take your time to wander around
the notion tutorial page. It's all yours to explore. Once you've had your fill, get ready for a
little bonus treat before we call it a day. In our next lesson, I'm spilling the
secrets on crafting a super stylish
notion dashboard. I'll catch you there for
some creative vibes.
47. Creating an Aesthetic Notion Dashboard: Imagine working in
a space that's more like a fun canvas
than a doll to do. List, envision
effortlessly moving through tasks and projects. Not just getting things done, but doing it with
a touch of joy. I was once lost in the
sea of productivity apps, yearning for a
space that not only managed my tasks but
resonated with my style. Until I stumbled upon notion, it was like a creative
digital epiphany. From the first timid click, bold strokes of customization, my notion dashboard evolved
into a masterpiece. No longer was it a mere tool, it became a reflection
of my creativity, an organized chaos that mirrored the dynamic dance of
my thoughts and plans. In this lesson, I will
teach you how to create an aesthetic notion dashboard where functionality
meets artistry. But why invest time in crafting an aesthetically pleasing
notion dashboard you ask. It's not just about
visual appeal. It's about transforming
your workspace into an environment that
sparks inspiration, fuels productivity, and turns each task into a step towards
a digital masterpiece. For this demo, I made this
notion dashboard for you. This is available to download
in the Resources tab. For today's demo, we will
recreate this notion dashboard. You can also recreate
this for your clients, team members, or even
your passion projects. I will uncover useful tools and widgets that you can integrate into your
notion dashboard. Finally, I will teach you
practical tips in making your notion dashboard
creative, fun, and useful. In this demo, we will create
an aesthetic dashboard. As you can see, I have made aesthetic dashboards for you throughout this notion course. I also made an aesthetic
dashboard like this. You have here your
gallery for inspiration, your time, your clock, your navigation, your calendar, projects, playlists, and more. In this demo, I will be
teaching you on how you can create an aesthetic
dashboard like this. I also have moving JF in the
gallery, photos and more. First, let's create a page
for you to create a page. Go to the sidebar and
then click the new page. It will pull up a
new page for you. Let's call this a main page. Let's say your name
no or dashboard. It's up to you. It
opens up like this. But I want you to open in full page so that
you'll be able to see all the elements in
your Notion page and be able to customize it
based on your liking. The first step in creating an aesthetic dashboard is to give your Notion page a name. Whatever you put in here, it will show up
like this in here. Let's say your name is, we'll say Rose's
nook or dashboard. Then what I want you
to do is to click this menu bar here to pull
up the options or the menu. Then I want you to toggle on
the full width so that you can maximize the
whole notion page. If you toggle this off, it will look like this
and it will only occupy the middle or the center
part of your notion page. But if you touggle on, it will occupy the whole thing. Then as a default, you will have this font style, but you can change
it to Serif or mono. It's up to you on which
style you prefer. Let's use the Serif first.
48. Adding GIFs to your Notion Dashboard: Now notion gives you an option to start
with an empty page, to import, to choose a template to add tables and
more for this notion. Tutorial, let's start
with an empty page. First I can show you the
step by step process. As you can see in my
notion tutorial one oh one have here a moving GIF. The next thing that
we can do is to add an icon to give this
notion page a personality. You can either choose an MOG, let's choose this first. But if you've noticed my notion, one oh one tutorial page, you have here a moving GIF. And also in this
Christine's nook, you also have here
a moving dumpling, which is really nice right now. I will teach you
on how you can add a moving GIF on
your notion page. What I want you to do is
to go to Jiffy.com That's Giphy.com I will leave the
link in the resources tab. So you'll be able
to access in here. You'll be able to find fun F that you can add to
your notion workspace. What we'll do is to
search for a keyword. Let's say I'm looking
for a dumpling. You'd be able to see different
GIFs about dumplings. But what I want is for you to go to stickers, click stickers, then you'd be able to see stickers moving stickers that
doesn't have a background, that's what we are looking for. This is cute, it's a mochi, there are a lot of dumpling
stickers available in here. Choose what's best
for you that you think it's best for
your notion page. For now, I think
this one is good. The next step is to
press right click, Then then save it to
your desktop or laptop. You can rename it as. Now, let's go back
to not however, in the icon here. Instead of going
to MGs or icons, I want you to choose custom
and then choose upload file. Look for the GIF that we
have just downloaded. This one, is it? Make sure that this is a GIF
file when you upload it in notion it will be
moving great, right? When you look at the side bar, you would notice that it is also moving just like this notion, one oh one tutorial icon and
also this Christine icon, since they are GIF files. It's also moving like this. Another example is when you link that specific notion page with a moving GIF, it
will look like this. Let's say I want to add the notion one on
one tutorial here. What I will do is to press
choose link to page, link an existing page. Let's look for the notion
one on one tutorial. Even though it's tiny, you can still see
that it's moving. The icon is moving
because it's a GIF file. That is how you can add a
moving F in your Notion page. Okay, let's delete that. Comparing the Notion
11 tutorial page and also the Christine Snook, you would notice that in
the Notion 11 tutorial, I also have a moving GIF
as my page or cover image. But in Christine Nook, it is just a steel image
or a cover image in Non. Now what I will teach
you is how to look for moving GIFs for your
cover image for non. All right, now we
are in Jeff again and we will look for a moving
cover image from here. The aesthetics that I
enjoy is usually gib. Are you familiar with that? What I would do is search for Gib in the search bar and look for GIFs that is tagged as Gib. As you can see, you
have here moving GIFs about Gible or studio Gib. Scroll down until you find
the one that sparks joy. Ok, this looks nice. Let's try. If we can add
this in our notion page. What I want you to
do next is to write click Save Image As, then save it to your
laptop or desktop. And make sure that
the file type is GIF. Let's name it as Bus. Going back to your notion again, let's add a cover. It will choose a default
cover, image and Notion. Let's change the
cover you have here. A few options. You can choose from the
gallery from Notion. You can upload your own Paste an image link or
choose from Splash. Let's go to Upload and
choose upload file. Look for the image in
your desktop or laptop. Then let's wait for
it to be uploaded. Now, it looks great, right? It's moving now, when you
want to reposition this, simply click this
reposition button and then drag image to reposition
to see the best frame. What's your happy click save
position and you're done.
49. Designing your Notion page: Now, another way to add a
unique cover image is by designing your own in
my Christine's nook. I have here an artwork
that I designed in Canva. That is what we will
be doing in this part. Let's go to Canva.com We
will start designing. I already have a
notion banner in here. If you want to create a design, just click create a design
and look for notion. However, I have tried
this specific size, but it doesn't fit
in my notion page. I did a trial and error until I found the right size that is
perfect for notion pages. The size is two for 60
pixels by 300 pixels. And it will look like this. Which is perfect for your
notion pages that has a limited space for
your cover image don't. I will be sharing with you
a template so that you can just duplicate the size
and make it your own. Add your own twist
to your designs to make a unique notion page. If you've noticed, I have made different cover images
in here already. What we will do is to create
a new page by clicking this. Add a page, then incorporate
your personality, your branding kit, your
branding personality in this notion cover image. Let's say Rose's dashboard
is more on pink. Let's look for a pink
background under the element. Let's look for grainy pink. I found a super
nice one already, but I'm not sure if
it would look nice. Let's try to add
this to our design. By the way, if you are
seeing a crown that says pro in the specific element
or Canva design, it means that you
need to purchase this specific element if
you have a free plan. But don't worry. Canva has an extensive library of free elements that you
can add to your design. But since I've signed up
for a paid plan in Canva, because I'm using
it for courses, for clients and for
personal projects, I will be using
the pro elements. All right, let's add this right click and
then replace background. Wow, I love the colors already. Then if you want to reposition, just double click and choose
the best part that you like, since this is a grainy and also a gradient type
of element there. Now I want you to zoom in a little bit so that you
would know your canvas. By the way, if you are
running low on inspiration, we have here the design part. And it will suggest a lot of
different designs that you can use or tweak for
your notion cover image. Now let's add a text
to your design. Add a text box. Let's name it as Rose Dashboard. We can increase the size, make sure that it
is in the center. You can even change
the font style or add effects to your font. Let's try to explore a
different font style. Then let's try to add an effect. Change this to white, and then add an outline. Then change the color of
the outline to black. Let's see if it looks nice. I think this is good. You can add in like a banner type
of design like this one. Let's try to add a
banner like this. What we will do first is
go back to our design. Add a text box and make it, and turn it into a simpler font. Let's say business, personal
or travel, let's say. Then let's go to effects. Then let's choose a background. Let's turn down the
roundness into zero, spread into just a little bit. Then let's change the color. Let's use a lighter color and then decrease the font size. Now if you want it to
be like a banner type, I think this should be good. Or let's add another one. What you want is for it
to be like a banner. You can actually add it here. It looks nice if it's in here, or if you want it to look
like this, select your text. Take it like this a bit
and then put it down here. It should look like this. It looks like a banner type. Right. Now, if you want
to repeat the design, just simply select and then press Control if
you're using Windows. And then control V or just simply select the
duplicate button here to duplicate that. And then put it on the
other side as well. Just a bit here, you can add more
elements that you would feel would be best
represent your brand, your personality,
and your style. I think I'm happy with my
notion cover image so far. Now let's save it in our
laptop and just click Share. Go to download, and
then choose PNG. Then make sure you are
downloading the correct page, which is this one current page. And then select. And then once
you're Ok, press download. Okay, so it's done. Let's look for it in
the download section. Gross dashboard copy. And then let's put it
in the right folder. Once you're set, let's go
back to Notion and then let's choose Change Cover and
then choose Upload. And then upload file and look for the Canva design
that you just made. Let's double click, it will
look like this So far. I'm loving it. How
about you guys?
50. Creating a Mood Board: Now we will be adding
a mood board in your notion page to encourage
and inspire creativity. Whenever you look at your
notion page, just like this, let's go to Rose's dashboard and let's add a gallery
view block or database. Look for the plus
sign or press slash, and then look for
the gallery view. What I want you
to do is to click New Database to create
a new Moodboard. Let's rename this gallery
view into Moodboard. Let's also rename
this mood board. But what I want is to hide
this specific database title. Press the three dots in here and choose Hi Database title. Then let's change the icon. Let's look for a
gallery or a photo. I think I like this Lemon. There are two ways to make your gallery view database
into a mood board. The first one is by putting
it in the page cover. First, let's change the
settings of your gallery view. Let's open up the settings
and then choose layout or gallery Under the card
preview page cover. It will display your page cover as a preview image
in your gallery view. Now let's add a cover and
you can either choose from Notion or you
can create your own. Wow, the selections
are super nice. You can add this, then repo, drag your image to
reposition and then save. As you can see, it will preview your image in your gallery view. Let's change this
other one ad for this, since you are using
the cover image, you can still use
this size in Canva, which is 24, 60
pixels by 300 pixels. You can still use this file. What I want is to look for something from slash n. Next, add a cover
and then change. You can also reposition
again until you found the best angle
for your cover image. There you go. This
looks super nice because it has a
motivational code. Whenever you're feeling burnt out or you're feeling tired, you can just look in your
Notion dashboard and feel the rush of
creativity inspiration. You can actually add
more photos in here. Just press then. What I usually want is to
create at least six piles. Choose this one, Change. Click on Splash's, Look for
the Pink again, this one. Let's choose this one. Add a cover again, change. We can actually add images from Pinterest to
your notion page. What we'll do is
first click the page. Let's go to Pinterest. Since we're looking
for a pink aesthetic, let's search for pink
in the search bar. I think I found what I
like, which is this one. What I want you to do
is to press right Click on the image and then
copy image address. Then let's go to Not in the ad, Choose Change Cover,
and then choose Link. And then paste the link in here. And then press Submit. You can even reposition to get the best view of
your image there. You have added an
image from Pinterest. Then let's finish up this one. I can teach you another way in adding images in
your notion page. Another way is by displaying the photos you've added
in your page content. What I want you to
do is to go to. Menu Again, choose Layout. And under the card preview, check the page content again. It will look like this. But what we'll do is to add
an image inside your page. What you want is to
create original images. To do that, let's go to
Canva and create a design. And then choose Instagram
Post or Square. Then let's start creating
your aesthetics. We can get different elements
in the Canva library. I'm looking for a free photo. I can see that this one
looks good already. But I want to see all of
the suggestions from Canva. Let's click See All. Wow, it's so nice, right? Even though it's still
on the free plan, Canva has an extensive
library of options. You can choose to
give your notion page a unique personality
or unique aesthetics. Wow, I can't choose actually, let's start with this first. Let's add it to your design. Right click And then set
image as background and then reposition if you want
to choose the best frame, double click, then drag. All right, when you're done, just click Enter or done. Okay, now we have one. Our goal is to make six of this. Add a page, 23456. Let's continue adding
different elements into your canvas design. I want to choose something
plain but still creative. Let's put it in the second page. Then we can add more
set images background. A little motivational code, Be wild, but stay soft. Thanks. Then we can add this
one set image background. Now you have six designs. I want you to click Share to
Export, and then download. Choose PNG, and
then make sure you are selecting all pages because we want to
export all of them. Click Click Download. Let's go back to Not to add what we have
designed from Canva. Let's go to page one and then
we will add image image. Then we will be choosing
to upload a file. Let's get what we have created from Canva and
it would look like this. It will appear like this on
your notion gallery view. Let's continue adding
it for your mood board. Okay, just keep adding it. Next, attach another one. Upload file four, then last upload file,
and there you go. That is your mood board. But we're not stopping here. What I want is to
change the icons to add more personality
to your mood board. Let's change the icons to, I want to choose this one. I want the, let's choose this one with the pink
heart. Looking nice, right? You can actually rename, since this is just a moodboard
for your notion page, we won't be adding any
more content in here. We can just rename
this as a period. It will appear like that, It's super minimalist and
looks aesthetically pleasing. Let's do that for the
rest of the gallery view, for your mood board. Then let's change the icon
to a heart, a pink heart. What's good about notion is that you can really make it super
aesthetic if you want to, just don't be afraid to explore and add your personality
into your notion page, click the page here
again, and choose icon. And choose the heart. And choose the best
color you want to add. There you have it.
Your own moodboard. It looks nice, right? You can definitely add your personality on
your mood board. This is girly because this is for my partner
in this course. For Rose, I made this, her aesthetics are pink. So I added pink
elements to the design. So mine, it's more on green. A touch of green, a bit of pink. Feel free to explore and express creativity in making your
aesthetic notion. Dashboard.
51. Embedding Widgets: I will teach you on how you can embed a clock in
your Notion page. And help, and also this helpful
code widget from Notion. Now our next step
is to add a clock. Let's go to widget box app and sign up for a free
account using your E mail. I'm already in my account. And when you scroll down, you would see different
widgets you can add to your notion page like clocks, calendars, phrases of the day, whether code button and more. For this, we will
add a retro clock, which is this one. Let's press Create. It will take you to this view. You can tweak the background
color, the text color. Let's try to do that. Since
we have a pink aesthetic, let's, let's create
a pink clock. Let's find the best
shade of pink. Then let's adjust
the text color, put it into white. Then let's adjust
the rounded corners. You can choose non
small, medium. Up to this, let's create
the small rounded corners. Then in the clock
type, it's up to you. If you want a 24 hour
or 12 hour clock type, I prefer this 12
hour clock time. You can tuggle on
and off to see if your colors are best viewed in notion dark mode or
in the light mode. You can rename this as
roses Lash board clock. Now once you're happy with
your colors, with your design, just simply copy the link in here by pressing this
copy button in here. Let's go back to notion. Let's add or embed a file by clicking and then type in Embed. You can embed for PDF, Google Maps and more. And then paste the link in
here under the Embed link. Then press Embed link there. Your clock is there already. You can change the size. Your clock is already here. But what we want is to
put it on the side like this to make your dashboard
more organized and clean. What we want is to
create two columns. We have your column one
and then column two here. What we'll do next is
to choose the gallery, and then select and then drag
it under the column one. It will transform like this. Then you can adjust the size. Then now for your clock, just select it and put
it under column two. It will look like
this. You can adjust your columns depending on your
preference. Looking nice. In here under Kristine's, I have here embedded
my Google calendar. I can actually see the
events in my Google calendar and it will be sync to
this calendar right here. But take note, you cannot
add appointments in here, but it just shows your schedule
for that specific date. Like this one I have here
my shot last November 28. But I don't have an option
to edit my calendar in here. You still need your
Google calendar. But it's really convenient to see what you're up to for
the day, for the week. Let me show you how
you can embed your, your Google calendar
to your notion page. To do that, let's go to Df.com Sign up for a free account using
your e mail adches. You can just use the
free account for you to be able to use the widgets
for your notion page. In here, you'll see
Christine's Google calendar. But let's create a new widget. Then choose Google Calendar. Then create a widget, let's name this
as Rose Calendar. Then what you'll
do is you'll need to sign in with your
Google account. Make sure you already have a Google account with your
Google calendar available. Let me send my Google
account as an example, press the e mail and then
continue, and you're done. You should be able to see
this login successful. You may now close this window, and then your Google calendar
will preview on this side. And you can even choose
the event color, but it's available
in the paid plan. You have your default
view options in month, week depending, or agenda
depending on your preference. Let's choose this option month. You can tweak these
items for the free plan, but if you plan to
upgrade to the pro plan, it has more customization
features available. Let's say we'll start
week on a Monday. And then tweak the border
color time indicator. Let's choose pink one and
it shows color like this, set background color if you want a light pink and then
calendar border color, choose this black text color. I think black is okay. Once you're happy
with your design, just simply press this
button to copy the link. Then let's go back
to notion again. Let's go back to your dashboard. Then press and then embed again. Let's embed link, Let's
paste the link here. And then press Embed Link. We can tweak the size, it will show up like this. This is your Google calendar
available in your notion. I want to organize this
and put this on the sides. I just drag it here. Just drag in the corners
to make it look more nice until you're happy
with your design.
52. Creating a Navigation Tab: Moving on, let's go back
to Christine's nook. As you can see in here, we have a navigation tab. This is actually a
tuggle heading list. When I open the contents inside, you'll see different
items under. When I click this, it will
take me to the project page. I can see the list
of my projects. When I want to access
Content Calendar, it will take me to
my content calendar. That is what I will
teach you today. First, let's add
a divider in here to make it look more organized. Next, we will add in different database views to add in content or blocks
to your notion page. Let's add a table table view and then create a new database. Then let's name it
as 2024 projects. Let's rename it as my projects. Let's choose the flower tulip. It will show up like this. Let's hide this database
title you can add in here. Then we will add a
content calendar. To do that, add a
calendar view database by pressing and then
let's look for calendar. And then you can either select a data source or
create a new one. Let's create a new database. Let's name this
content calendar. Now you have contents inside your Notion page or not board. What we want to do is for you to easily navigate
your notion page. That is what we will do by
adding a toggle heading list, press and look for Toggle. And then let's choose
the heading one, Then let's rename
it as Navigation. I usually rename it like this, that you would be able to
navigate your notion page. I hide it under a toggle
heading list so that it would look more neat and nice. Again, if it's light color gray, it means the toggle
heading is empty. Let's put a content inside. And then let's link
your project database and then Content Calendar. Let's add a content inside
your toggle heading list. Let's go to your
Table View database and then choose this
option button here. And then copy link to view. Then let's go up in
here at the link here. You have an option to create
linked view of database, mention, page or dismiss. Let's choose the mentioned page. Let's link your
content calendar. Next again, let's go to the
calendar view database. Open the menu and then
choose Copy, Link to view. Then let's go up again, make sure you're still inside the tuggle heading list
and then paste the link. And then choose mentioned page. If you missed adding it inside
the Tuggle heading list, just simply press this and then drag to move until it
shows up like this. It's under the
toggle heading list. Now again, let's add an icon
that looks more cohesive. Choose the tulip and
then make it a pink color. It looks like that. Now when you close the
navigation or the toggle list, it will look like this.
It's cleaner, right? Whenever you want to navigate or pull up your projects
or content calendar, just simply open the
Tuggle heading list and then choose
Content Calendar. And it will take you to your calendar view database
of your content calendar. Now you can even add dividers. Let's create a divider in here by pressing the
three times 123. You have a divider available
in here there. You have it. Your own aesthetic
notion dashboard that inspires creativity and is useful and holds all your personal and
even your work projects. That wraps up this
demo on how to make an aesthetically
pleasing notion dashboard. How was the experience? Were you able to follow the steps that I have
laid out for you? Feel free to rewatch this demo and make this as a
guide whenever you're creating an aesthetic
notion dashboard for your clients
and other projects. In the next lesson, we will officially
wrap up this class. See you there.
