Also, you can access Notion through their web based app, desktop app and even mobile app convenient, right? You can use it whichever way you want. Okay, now is your notion account ready? Cool. To create a page, click this plus new page button, or press control plus n, or click this plus button right here. You can either begin with a template or totally customize your own. Next up we have blocks. Everything that sits on a page is called a block. Blocks are the basic unit of data in notion you can mix and match different blocks, such as texts, images, tables, checklists, databases, embedded files and more. This allows you to create unique pages and tools for you and your team. Notion allows you to add basic blocks, advanced blocks, databases, media and more. Then we have database. A database is a type of block in notion. Think of a database as a container and it lets you hold and organize multiple notion pages in a single structure. Now you can choose different views for your database to be able to best present your data. We have table view, board view, calendar view, list view, gallery view, and timeline view. Don't worry, you'll get to know each one of them later. Then finally, we have properties. Properties sit inside a database such as text, URL's, select status and more. These serves as a tool to keep your information organized inside a database. They're similar to rows and columns in a spreadsheet. It's a powerful way to manage and make sense of your data. Oh, by the way, since Notion is highly customizable, there are a lot of widgets you can integrate into your Notion page. Take a look at these websites that would be useful in building your notion. We'll be mentioning and using these websites a lot in the next demos. All of these apps have great free features to sign up using your e mail address. And you're good to go. I'll leave these links in the Resources tab so you can check them out later. In summary, Notion is a versatile tool that seamlessly integrate work and personal life. It's adaptability, collaborative features, intuitive design make it a popular choice for individuals and teams looking to streamline their workflows and stay organized. Now I think you're ready. In the next lesson, we'll begin immersing ourselves into notion. Make sure you have a fresh mind, a laptop, and your water within arm's reach because we will be diving into notion deeper. If you are ready, I'll see you in the next lesson. 5. Basic Blocks - Text: Let's make notion super easy for you. We'll begin by checking out notions, cool features, starting with something called blocks. Think of blocks like the building blocks for your online space. They're super flexible and can be customized to organize team up and handle info. Blocks help you break down tricky info into easy parts. You can move them around, change the order, and group them together. It's like creating a neat and organized online space that fits just right for you. This part is a lesson and demo rolled into one. I made a dedicated page for Notion one oh one tutorial so that I can take you deeper into each feature and tool. You can access the Notion 11 tutorial in the Resources tab. So you can explore on your own. Just make sure to click Duplicate to make a copy and play with it so you can explore it better. Now if you're ready, let's start exploring blocks. For this demo, we will discuss the blocks that is available in non blocks can be divided into basic blocks and advanced blocks in No shan. As you can see, the basic blocks has different features under it also the advanced blocks. Don't worry, we will discuss each one of them one by one. Here we have the feature of the basic block and then the key features or what it does. Let's try to explore. Click the open to open inside Peak. This feature is for writing plain text. This is a sample of a text. To add a text in your notion page, just simply type. For example, hi my name is Christine. Now to change the colors of the text or the background, just simply click the six dots here to open the menu. Then go to colors. Let's choose, for example, blue. There you have it. The color is changed into blue. Now if you want to change the background color, let's go again. Let's pull up the menu and then choose Color. And then let's say we are choosing the yellow background. They have a roster of available colors in here that you can choose from. Just choose yellow background, the entire line will turn into yellow background. Now let's go back to the previews default color. Now for example, you just want to change the color of this word. For example, the name Christine simply highlight that specific word. Then a menu bar or a tool bar will open up. You can either turn it into bold or just click control B. You can italicize it, put an underline at the strike through or turn it into a code. It will look like this. Now let's go back. Our plan is to change the color. Just simply click this text color button here and click the drop down. Let's say I want it to turn into pink. Choose pink. There you go. You only change color, the text color of this specific text. Now I want to add an Mog. Just simply press and then type MG, click Enter. Then you will see the supported Emoges from. And you can choose from the roster here on which Mogi you want to add. But if you're feeling lazy, just like me sometimes, if you're in a hurry, just type the keyword of the Mogi that you are looking for. Let's say you are looking for a light bulb. Okay, once you enter the keyword, it will show up like this. Just click this, okay? There's a light bulb. Now, for example, I want to add a heart again. Let's press slash type, or mog, and it will show up like this. Then let's say I want to add a heart. Just type in heart. You have here different types of heart emoges that are supported by notion. Let say I want to add this one. Yeah, there you go. You have a heart mog. That is the text. 6. Basic Blocks - Page: Now moving on, we have here page. The key feature of a page is to embed a sub page inside a page. Let's talk about pages. These are all called pages just like this one. This is a notion page and also the notion one on one tutorial is a notion page for easy reference. I want to call it as a main page. Now for example, I want to add a sub page inside the notion one on one tutorial. This is how you do it. Let's pull up all about pages. Let's see when you create a page. This is exactly an example of sub page inside a main page. It will look like this in this database. Each of these are called sub pages. All of these are called sub pages. It will look like this. Now let's try to create a page or a sub page. You can simply type look four page, which is the second one. To create a page, it will pull up to an empty page like this. You can add a title page example, let's say. Then you can either start with an empty page or look for a template. Or choose a template. Let's try to start with an empty page. Now you have an empty page. You can add any type of block that you want to add in notion. Okay, let's go back to where we came from. This is what it looks like. If we add a sub page inside a main page, it will pull up like this. For example, let's say hello. This is a sample of a sub page. However, if you want to view it in full page, just simply click this button. If you want to change the font of your entire page, just simply click this three dots up here to open a menu. And then choose from the different styles. Now we have default, but I want this Serif. You can also choose this style, which is good for drafting and notes. Okay, this is mono, this is what it looks like. I want to choose the Serif. Now, as you can see, you are only occupying this part of the notion page. If you want to view it as full width, simply tuggle on this button and it will look like this. You can maximize the whole page. At the top here, you will see where you currently are. We came from the page and then inside we create the sub page, which is this one. If you want to go back, simply click which page you want to access or click the go back button. For now, let's click this one. That is a page. Now the default icon for a page is like this. It looks like a document. But if you want to change icon, just simply hover here and then click and then choose from different emojis or icons available in Notion. You can actually create a custom design for your icons by simply clicking this custom and then upload file or even paste the link to an image. Now let's choose the icons. Let's say I want to choose this bookmark. Once you click that, you can actually choose from different colors, which is nice. Let's say I want to choose the orange one. Your icon will look like this. Then once you open your page, your icon is in here at the top. And you can even add a cover to your page by simply clicking a cover. Now Notion suggests a cover page for your page, but you can change the cover by clicking this one. Then choose from the gallery. You can upload your own or base an image link. Or you can even view from the roster of Splash, let's say I want this one. Simply click there you have it. You have changed the cover. However, if you want to reposition your design, simply click this and then drag the image to reposition to which frame you want it. Let's say I want it like this. Then if you are okay, click save Position. So there you have it. You have styled your page. So that is what you can do to your page. 7. Basic Blocks - To-do List: Now let's go back to the notion one on one tutorial. Let's explore the to do list feature which is a basic block. Now To do List is for tracking tasks with a to do list. Let's try to open. Below is an example of a to do list just like this one. To create a list, just simply type and then type to Do, or look from the roster available here on Notion. Then click To Do List. Another way is by simply hovering the plus sign button here to add a block. Let's click that. Then let's look for the To Do list, which is this one. For example, my To Do list for today is shot the notion then shot the demo. Then lastly, the demo for just like that, when you want to add another option, simply press Enter and then a Checkbox or to do list box will show up. But if you are done adding the options, you can simply press the Enter again so that you can continue adding different blocks or content in your notion page. For example, you want to add text notes. Now this is your to do list if you want to highlight To do, let's say to days to do list. If you want to change the text, just simply highlight. You can turn it into bold. And then let's add a color blue. Now if you're done with a task, just simply press the Checkbox button and it will show up like this. To show that this task is already done and you can put in a check. Or if you aren't done yet, just click this to uncheck the item. This is great for tracking tasks, checking your daily habits. It's really nice to add to your notion page. That is what to do. List does. 8. Basic Blocks - Headings: Now moving on, we have here headings. It's simply to write headings for your notion page. Let's try to pull up, and then below are examples of headings. We have three types of headings. We have heading 12.3 Now there are three ways to create a heading. The first one is by simply typing. And then choose heading, and then choose which heading you want. I want to create a heading, one for a big section heading, for example, I want to say instructions. That is how you create a heading. The second way is by typing your text first, let's say ingredients. Say you are creating a recipe collection. Just simply highlight. And then a tool bar will show up and change the text into a heading. Let's say I want to create a heading two, there you go, it turns into a heading. The third way in creating a heading is let's first type the word. Let's say I want to add procedure. Then have your mouse at the left part of your notion page and the menu button will show up. The menu button looks like the six here. When you click it, a menu opens up. Let's choose the turn into and then change it into a heading. You can actually choose from different types of features here, but for this task, I want to choose heading three. There you go. That is what a heading one to three looks like. Yeah, feel free to explore on the headings, but for now, we will move on to the next item. 9. Basic Blocks - Table: Next is a table. Table is a simple tabular content for your page. Now to create a table, let's try another way. Simply click or hover here, and then click the plus button. And let's look for the table. This is a table. Then when you choose that option, it will first look like this. You can add in your data, let's say the name, the age. Now if you want to add column, just simply click this button here to add a column. Then if you want to add a row, just hover your mouse at this part right here, and then click to add a new row. Now let's say we want to add more info or more columns into your data. Let's say platform and then content. Then if you want to make it as a bold, simply highlight each one. Click one, click one cell, and then drag your mouse to the right to select the cells that you want to edit. Once it's selected, just click control B to change it to bold style. Now let's add the values, for example, the names Kathy 24 Saving. For example, you are tracking your influencers or listing down influencers and their niches. Then we have Christine 28 Tiktok, and then marketing. Then we have Matthew 30. He's on Tiktok and he's talking about fitness. Now what I want you to do is to highlight this part. As you can see, a menu opens up or pops up. Just click on the options. Then you can highlight the header row by clicking on this Togle button. If you want your table to look like this or if you want to highlight your header column, you can tuggle on this button to make it look like this. Let's tuggle off the header column. Since the data is up here, the data title is up here. That is how you create a table. Feel free to explore on tables. You can also type type table to create a basic block table there. 10. Basic Blocks - Lists: Now let's move on to the next item which is lists. Lists are bulleted or numbered lists. Let's try to explore lists here. Now There are two types of lists. We have here bulleted lists like this or numbered lists like this. The only difference is that for bulleted lists it has a bullet. For numbered lists we have here numbers. Now, if you want to create a bulleted list, you can simply start with a dash button and then to make it look like a bulleted list, then you can type in the items. For example, things to bring, sunscreen, brush oil. Now if you want to create a numbered list, simply type one and then type the dot and then press space. It will pull up to a numbered list like this. Let's say we have here list of participants, one is Rose, number two is Christine, number three is Paul, number four is Paul. This is what a number list looks like. Another way of creating lists is by pressing and then type list. Then you can choose from bulleted list, number list or Tuggle list. Tuggle list, we will discuss in the next item here, but for now you can choose from the two. Let's say I want to create a bulleted list. Again, I want to create top places to visit in the Philippines. I want to turn it into a heading, I simply highlight and then choose heading three. And I want to change the color and I choose purple. Then I want to create a numbered list I typed, then choose list, I choose the number list. For example, you are creating a round up or a top list. For example, number one in the list is Pa, number two is Cebu, number three is her Gao. That is how you use lists. 11. Basic Blocks - Toggle List: Next is a toggle list. Toggle lists can show or hide content inside. This is an example of a toggle list. As you can see, we have here client B, client Y, and then client B. Now, for example, I want to show the content inside client B. I have type services available, for example, graphic design and the content planning. I want to hide the content you have your client Y. And then when I press this toggle, you can see the services available like influencer marketing and content planning, for example. Now for toggles, if you want to show the text or open the text, simply click this one. It will show you the hidden text. If you want to hide it again, just simply click this toggle. And then choose High Database Title, so that it looks more minimalist and clean, but it's up to you. Whichever you prefer. Then you have the basic name property here, tags. And then you can add more. Let's try to delete this first, Delete the property, then we can add whichever information, or property, or data we want to add. Let's try to add a plus sign. Then we can choose the number and say like contact number. Then you can choose the number format. Here, let's say we are, these are currencies and it can even choose percent number was, let's just choose the number itself. You can also change the icon in here, chose this phone handset then, and then you're done. For example, we would like to change this property, customer's name, and then change the icon here. And then look for a person or people for customers. Then you can add in the customer's names, then add the phone number here. Then you can even add more properties and later we will discuss it further. For now, that is the table view which is available in the Notion databases. This is what the table view looks like in the Notion databases. And remember that the table view is like a spreadsheet like view. 30. Database - Board view: Now going back to databases. Next we have board view. Board view is a ban board view of a database. Board view is great to check status of projects. This is what a board view looks like and we can even customize it to check status of projects. Let's try to explore. First we have here the statuses above we have to do in progress and complete. These are entries in the board view database. They name it as card 123. You want to edit the entry here, just simply click this one and it opens up a sub page. You can even change the information here, for example, on client. When you add content on this subpage, an icon like this will show up on your card. You can even customize it depending on your preference. For example, this is one of your to do list and you are currently on boarding your client. Just simply click and hold and drag it to whichever status this belongs, like in progress and complete and so on. Let's try to create a board view database. In notion, just simply press slash and look for Board and then choose Board View under the database. Again, you can either select a data source or create a new database. Let's try to create a new database. Let's say the title is Project Status. We can further customize your board view by clicking this three dots to open up the menu. And let's go to Group. As you can see we have here the default visible groups available in notion we have to do in progress and complete. Now if you want to customize this even further, you can do that by clicking Group by Status. Then you have two options. First we have the group option, which is the default to do in progress and complete. You have here the statuses that you can assign on notion. You can sort them by ascending, manual or descending. Let's choose the manual you can drag and drop on which way you want to customize the statuses on notion. As you can see whenever I drag it here it changes its order. It's up to you on how you want to maintain the order in the options in here. Let's go back to this option and then let's go to properties. Let's go to Status. In the status, we can customize the statuses. Say our project is clients on boarding. You want to track all your clients who are currently on boarding. Again, let's go back to the menu, Select Properties, and then let's go to the status. And let's further customize this. Let's say two on board. Then you can even change the color. Let's assign brown here on the answer on boarding questionnaire. For example, kick off meeting endorse media files, let's say and sign contract. Now I've added here a couple of options. I want to further change the order in here. Maybe we start with a signed contract and then answer questionnaire, and then endorse the media and files. And then finally kick off meeting. Then in the complete, let's say we have here client onboard. We can even add another option here like client offboard for example, or contract ended. Let's sign gray color for this then. Once you're okay, just click the X button here. As you can see, it's still messed up here. Let's try to group it and customize it to make it look better. Let's press this button here. Go to group. Then we have here the visible groups. First, let's move this sign contract again. Up and then answer questionnaire. And then endorse media until you go to kickoff meeting. Sorry, we missed another. Let's go to the properties again, let's go to the status and let's rename this client on board. And the other one is contract ended. Okay, let's go back to the group, and then we have here again the visible groups. First, we have to onboard. They need to sign a contract, answer the questionnaire, endorse media files, kickoff meeting, and then the client onboarded is done. For example, we have here the contract ended, and we want to tag that client as contract ended. But we want to hide it in this database. Just simply press this to hide a group. This is what it will look like as you scroll in your board view. You can see here the hidden groups. Let's rename this. You have a default, three cards, card 12.3 Let's rename this client, client B, client C. Now if you want to add or move your clients in here in this board view, just simply click hold and then drag again. Click hold and drag into the correct status of your client. For example, client, they need to sign the contract first, and then client B is done with the contract and it's time for the kickoff meeting and so on. To add more items in this database, just simply click the plus new button here and then type client D, or the name of the client. There you go. That is how you use and customize your board view. If you want to check out more options, just simply press this three dots here. It will give you a lot of customization available in notion you can even explore on the group. Then also if you want to add color in your columns to simply toggle this on to make it look like this. As you can see, this has a color brown in here. This one has blue. Since the tag is color blue, we have here a client onboard it as color green as well. It looks good, and colors help you categorize your data even better. So that is what a board view looks like. 31. Database - Gallery view: Moving on to another type of database view which is the gallery view. It basically just means a gallery type database view. Let's try to explore now. Creating an Aesthetic Notion Dashboard: Imagine working in a space that's more like a fun canvas than a doll to do. List, envision effortlessly moving through tasks and projects. Not just getting things done, but doing it with a touch of joy. I was once lost in the sea of productivity apps, yearning for a space that not only managed my tasks but resonated with my style. Until I stumbled upon notion, it was like a creative digital epiphany. From the first timid click, bold strokes of customization, my notion dashboard evolved into a masterpiece. No longer was it a mere tool, it became a reflection of my creativity, an organized chaos that mirrored the dynamic dance of my thoughts and plans. In this lesson, I will teach you how to create an aesthetic notion dashboard where functionality meets artistry. But why invest time in crafting an aesthetically pleasing notion dashboard you ask. It's not just about visual appeal. It's about transforming your workspace into an environment that sparks inspiration, fuels productivity, and turns each task into a step towards a digital masterpiece. For this demo, I made this notion dashboard for you. This is available to download in the Resources tab. For today's demo, we will recreate this notion dashboard. You can also recreate this for your clients, team members, or even your passion projects. I will uncover useful tools and widgets that you can integrate into your notion dashboard. Finally, I will teach you practical tips in making your notion dashboard creative, fun, and useful. In this demo, we will create an aesthetic dashboard. As you can see, I have made aesthetic dashboards for you throughout this notion course. I also made an aesthetic dashboard like this. You have here your gallery for inspiration, your time, your clock, your navigation, your calendar, projects, playlists, and more. Let's say your name no or dashboard. It's up to you. It opens up like this. But I want you to open in full page so that you'll be able to see all the elements in your Notion page and be able to customize it based on your liking. The first step in creating an aesthetic dashboard is to give your Notion page a name. Whatever you put in here, it will show up like this in here. Let's say your name is, we'll say Rose's nook or dashboard. Then what I want you to do is to click this menu bar here to pull up the options or the menu. Then I want you to toggle on the full width so that you can maximize the whole notion page. If you toggle this off, it will look like this and it will only occupy the middle or the center part of your notion page. But if you touggle on, it will occupy the whole thing. Then as a default, you will have this font style, but you can change it to Serif or mono. It's up to you on which style you prefer. Let's use the Serif first. 48. Adding GIFs to your Notion Dashboard: Now notion gives you an option to start with an empty page, to import, to choose a template to add tables and more for this notion. Tutorial, let's start with an empty page. First I can show you the step by step process. As you can see in my notion tutorial one oh one have here a moving GIF. The next thing that we can do is to add an icon to give this notion page a personality. You can either choose an MOG, let's choose this first. But if you've noticed my notion, one oh one tutorial page, you have here a moving GIF. And also in this Christine's nook, you also have here a moving dumpling, which is really nice right now. I will teach you on how you can add a moving GIF on your notion page. What I want you to do is to go to Jiffy.com That's Giphy.com I will leave the link in the resources tab. So you'll be able to access in here. You'll be able to find fun F that you can add to your notion workspace. What we'll do is to search for a keyword. Let's say I'm looking for a dumpling. You'd be able to see different GIFs about dumplings. But what I want is for you to go to stickers, click stickers, then you'd be able to see stickers moving stickers that doesn't have a background, that's what we are looking for. This is cute, it's a mochi, there are a lot of dumpling stickers available in here. Choose what's best for you that you think it's best for your notion page. For now, I think this one is good. The next step is to press right click, Then then save it to your desktop or laptop. You can rename it as. Now, let's go back to not however, in the icon here. Instead of going to MGs or icons, I want you to choose custom and then choose upload file. Look for the GIF that we have just downloaded. This one, is it? Make sure that this is a GIF file when you upload it in notion it will be moving great, right? When you look at the side bar, you would notice that it is also moving just like this notion, one oh one tutorial icon and also this Christine icon, since they are GIF files. It's also moving like this. Another example is when you link that specific notion page with a moving GIF, it will look like this. Let's say I want to add the notion one on one tutorial here. What I will do is to press choose link to page, link an existing page. Let's look for the notion one on one tutorial. Even though it's tiny, you can still see that it's moving. The icon is moving because it's a GIF file. That is how you can add a moving F in your Notion page. Okay, let's delete that. Comparing the Notion 11 tutorial page and also the Christine Snook, you would notice that in the Notion 11 tutorial, I also have a moving GIF as my page or cover image. But in Christine Nook, it is just a steel image or a cover image in Non. Now what I will teach you is how to look for moving GIFs for your cover image for non. All right, now we are in Jeff again and we will look for a moving cover image from here. The aesthetics that I enjoy is usually gib. Are you familiar with that? What I would do is search for Gib in the search bar and look for GIFs that is tagged as Gib. As you can see, you have here moving GIFs about Gible or studio Gib. Scroll down until you find the one that sparks joy. Ok, this looks nice. Let's try. If we can add this in our notion page. What I want you to do next is to write click Save Image As, then save it to your laptop or desktop. And make sure that the file type is GIF. Let's name it as Bus. Going back to your notion again, let's add a cover. It will choose a default cover, image and Notion. Let's change the cover you have here. A few options. You can choose from the gallery from Notion. You can upload your own Paste an image link or choose from Splash. Let's go to Upload and choose upload file. Look for the image in your desktop or laptop. Then let's wait for it to be uploaded. Now, it looks great, right? It's moving now, when you want to reposition this, simply click this reposition button and then drag image to reposition to see the best frame. What's your happy click save position and you're done. 49. Designing your Notion page: Now, another way to add a unique cover image is by designing your own in my Christine's nook. I have here an artwork that I designed in Canva. That is what we will be doing in this part. Let's go to Canva.com We will start designing. I already have a notion banner in here. If you want to create a design, just click create a design and look for notion. However, I have tried this specific size, but it doesn't fit in my notion page. I did a trial and error until I found the right size that is perfect for notion pages. The size is two for 60 pixels by 300 pixels. And it will look like this. Which is perfect for your notion pages that has a limited space for your cover image don't. I will be sharing with you a template so that you can just duplicate the size and make it your own. Add your own twist to your designs to make a unique notion page. If you've noticed, I have made different cover images in here already. What we will do is to create a new page by clicking this. Add a page, then incorporate your personality, your branding kit, your branding personality in this notion cover image. Let's say Rose's dashboard is more on pink. Let's look for a pink background under the element. Let's look for grainy pink. I found a super nice one already, but I'm not sure if it would look nice. Let's try to add this to our design. By the way, if you are seeing a crown that says pro in the specific element or Canva design, it means that you need to purchase this specific element if you have a free plan. But don't worry. Canva has an extensive library of free elements that you can add to your design. But since I've signed up for a paid plan in Canva, because I'm using it for courses, for clients and for personal projects, I will be using the pro elements. All right, let's add this right click and then replace background. Wow, I love the colors already. Then if you want to reposition, just double click and choose the best part that you like, since this is a grainy and also a gradient type of element there. Now I want you to zoom in a little bit so that you would know your canvas. By the way, if you are running low on inspiration, we have here the design part. And it will suggest a lot of different designs that you can use or tweak for your notion cover image. Now let's add a text to your design. Add a text box. Let's name it as Rose Dashboard. We can increase the size, make sure that it is in the center. You can even change the font style or add effects to your font. Let's try to explore a different font style. Then let's try to add an effect. Change this to white, and then add an outline. Then change the color of the outline to black. Let's see if it looks nice. I think this is good. You can add in like a banner type of design like this one. Let's try to add a banner like this. What we will do first is go back to our design. Add a text box and make it, and turn it into a simpler font. Let's say business, personal or travel, let's say. Then let's go to effects. Then let's choose a background. Let's turn down the roundness into zero, spread into just a little bit. Then let's change the color. Let's use a lighter color and then decrease the font size. Now if you want it to be like a banner type, I think this should be good. Or let's add another one. What you want is for it to be like a banner. You can actually add it here. It looks nice if it's in here, or if you want it to look like this, select your text. Take it like this a bit and then put it down here. It should look like this. It looks like a banner type. Right. Now, if you want to repeat the design, just simply select and then press Control if you're using Windows. And then control V or just simply select the duplicate button here to duplicate that. And then put it on the other side as well. Just a bit here, you can add more elements that you would feel would be best represent your brand, your personality, and your style. I think I'm happy with my notion cover image so far. Now let's save it in our laptop and just click Share. Go to download, and then choose PNG. Then make sure you are downloading the correct page, which is this one current page. And then select. And then once you're Ok, press download. Okay, so it's done. Let's look for it in the download section. Gross dashboard copy. And then let's put it in the right folder. Once you're set, let's go back to Notion and then let's choose Change Cover and then choose Upload. And then upload file and look for the Canva design that you just made. Let's double click, it will look like this So far. I'm loving it. How about you guys? 50. Creating a Mood Board: Now we will be adding a mood board in your notion page to encourage and inspire creativity. Whenever you look at your notion page, just like this, let's go to Rose's dashboard and let's add a gallery view block or database. Look for the plus sign or press slash, and then look for the gallery view. What I want you to do is to click New Database to create a new Moodboard. Let's rename this gallery view into Moodboard. Let's also rename this mood board. But what I want is to hide this specific database title. Press the three dots in here and choose Hi Database title. Then let's change the icon. Let's look for a gallery or a photo. I think I like this Lemon. There are two ways to make your gallery view database into a mood board. The first one is by putting it in the page cover. First, let's change the settings of your gallery view. Let's open up the settings and then choose layout or gallery Under the card preview page cover. It will display your page cover as a preview image in your gallery view. Now let's add a cover and you can either choose from Notion or you can create your own. Wow, the selections are super nice. You can add this, then repo, drag your image to reposition and then save. As you can see, it will preview your image in your gallery view. Let's change this other one ad for this, since you are using the cover image, you can still use this size in Canva, which is 24, 60 pixels by 300 pixels. You can still use this file. What I want is to look for something from slash n. Next, add a cover and then change. You can also reposition again until you found the best angle for your cover image. There you go. This looks super nice because it has a motivational code. Whenever you're feeling burnt out or you're feeling tired, you can just look in your Notion dashboard and feel the rush of creativity inspiration. You can actually add more photos in here. Just press then. What I usually want is to create at least six piles. Choose this one, Change. Click on Splash's, Look for the Pink again, this one. Let's choose this one. Add a cover again, change. We can actually add images from Pinterest to your notion page. What we'll do is first click the page. Let's go to Pinterest. Since we're looking for a pink aesthetic, let's search for pink in the search bar. I think I found what I like, which is this one. What I want you to do is to press right Click on the image and then copy image address. Then let's go to Not in the ad, Choose Change Cover, and then choose Link. And then paste the link in here. And then press Submit. You can even reposition to get the best view of your image there. You have added an image from Pinterest. Then let's finish up this one. I can teach you another way in adding images in your notion page. Another way is by displaying the photos you've added in your page content. What I want you to do is to go to. Menu Again, choose Layout. And under the card preview, check the page content again. It will look like this. But what we'll do is to add an image inside your page. What you want is to create original images. To do that, let's go to Canva and create a design. And then choose Instagram Post or Square. Then let's start creating your aesthetics. We can get different elements in the Canva library. I'm looking for a free photo. I can see that this one looks good already. But I want to see all of the suggestions from Canva. Let's click See All. Wow, it's so nice, right? Even though it's still on the free plan, Canva has an extensive library of options. You can choose to give your notion page a unique personality or unique aesthetics. Wow, I can't choose actually, let's start with this first. Let's add it to your design. Right click And then set image as background and then reposition if you want to choose the best frame, double click, then drag. All right, when you're done, just click Enter or done. Okay, now we have one. Our goal is to make six of this. Add a page, 23456. Let's continue adding different elements into your canvas design. I want to choose something plain but still creative. Let's put it in the second page. Then we can add more set images background. A little motivational code, Be wild, but stay soft. Thanks. Then we can add this one set image background. Now you have six designs. I want you to click Share to Export, and then download. Choose PNG, and then make sure you are selecting all pages because we want to export all of them. Click Click Download. Let's go back to Not to add what we have designed from Canva. Let's go to page one and then we will add image image. Then we will be choosing to upload a file. Let's get what we have created from Canva and it would look like this. It will appear like this on your notion gallery view. Let's continue adding it for your mood board. Okay, just keep adding it. Next, attach another one. Upload file four, then last upload file, and there you go. That is your mood board. But we're not stopping here. What I want is to change the icons to add more personality to your mood board. Let's change the icons to, I want to choose this one. I want the, let's choose this one with the pink heart. Looking nice, right? You can actually rename, since this is just a moodboard for your notion page, we won't be adding any more content in here. We can just rename this as a period. It will appear like that, It's super minimalist and looks aesthetically pleasing. Let's do that for the rest of the gallery view, for your mood board. Then let's change the icon to a heart, a pink heart. What's good about notion is that you can really make it super aesthetic if you want to, just don't be afraid to explore and add your personality into your notion page, click the page here again, and choose icon. And choose the heart. And choose the best color you want to add. There you have it. Your own moodboard. It looks nice, right? You can definitely add your personality on your mood board. This is girly because this is for my partner in this course. For Rose, I made this, her aesthetics are pink. So I added pink elements to the design. So mine, it's more on green. A touch of green, a bit of pink. Feel free to explore and express creativity in making your aesthetic notion. Dashboard. 51. Embedding Widgets: I will teach you on how you can embed a clock in your Notion page. And help, and also this helpful code widget from Notion. Now our next step is to add a clock. Let's go to widget box app and sign up for a free account using your E mail. I'm already in my account. And when you scroll down, you would see different widgets you can add to your notion page like clocks, calendars, phrases of the day, whether code button and more. For this, we will add a retro clock, which is this one. Let's press Create. It will take you to this view. You can tweak the background color, the text color. Let's try to do that. Since we have a pink aesthetic, let's, let's create a pink clock. Let's find the best shade of pink. Then let's adjust the text color, put it into white. Then let's adjust the rounded corners. You can choose non small, medium. Up to this, let's create the small rounded corners. Then in the clock type, it's up to you. If you want a 24 hour or 12 hour clock type, I prefer this 12 hour clock time. You can tuggle on and off to see if your colors are best viewed in notion dark mode or in the light mode. You can rename this as roses Lash board clock. Now once you're happy with your colors, with your design, just simply copy the link in here by pressing this copy button in here. Let's go back to notion. Let's add or embed a file by clicking and then type in Embed. You can embed for PDF, Google Maps and more. And then paste the link in here under the Embed link. Then press Embed link there. Your clock is there already. You can change the size. Your clock is already here. But what we want is to put it on the side like this to make your dashboard more organized and clean. What we want is to create two columns. We have your column one and then column two here. What we'll do next is to choose the gallery, and then select and then drag it under the column one. It will transform like this. Then you can adjust the size. Then now for your clock, just select it and put it under column two. It will look like this. You can adjust your columns depending on your preference. Looking nice. In here under Kristine's, I have here embedded my Google calendar. I can actually see the events in my Google calendar and it will be sync to this calendar right here. But take note, you cannot add appointments in here, but it just shows your schedule for that specific date. Like this one I have here my shot last November 28. But I don't have an option to edit my calendar in here. You still need your Google calendar. But it's really convenient to see what you're up to for the day, for the week. Let me show you how you can embed your, your Google calendar to your notion page. To do that, let's go to Df.com Sign up for a free account using your e mail adches. You can just use the free account for you to be able to use the widgets for your notion page. In here, you'll see Christine's Google calendar. But let's create a new widget. Then choose Google Calendar. Then create a widget, let's name this as Rose Calendar. Then what you'll do is you'll need to sign in with your Google account. Make sure you already have a Google account with your Google calendar available. Let me send my Google account as an example, press the e mail and then continue, and you're done. You should be able to see this login successful. You may now close this window, and then your Google calendar will preview on this side. And you can even choose the event color, but it's available in the paid plan. You have your default view options in month, week depending, or agenda depending on your preference. Let's choose this option month. You can tweak these items for the free plan, but if you plan to upgrade to the pro plan, it has more customization features available. Let's say we'll start week on a Monday. And then tweak the border color time indicator. Let's choose pink one and it shows color like this, set background color if you want a light pink and then calendar border color, choose this black text color. I think black is okay. Once you're happy with your design, just simply press this button to copy the link. Then let's go back to notion again. Let's go back to your dashboard. Then press and then embed again. Let's embed link, Let's paste the link here. And then press Embed Link. We can tweak the size, it will show up like this. This is your Google calendar available in your notion. I want to organize this and put this on the sides. I just drag it here. Just drag in the corners to make it look more nice until you're happy with your design. 52. Creating a Navigation Tab: Moving on, let's go back to Christine's nook. As you can see in here, we have a navigation tab. This is actually a tuggle heading list. When I open the contents inside, you'll see different items under. When I click this, it will take me to the project page. I can see the list of my projects. When I want to access Content Calendar, it will take me to my content calendar. That is what I will teach you today. First, let's add a divider in here to make it look more organized. Next, we will add in different database views to add in content or blocks to your notion page. Let's add a table table view and then create a new database. Then let's name it as 2024 projects. Let's rename it as my projects. Let's choose the flower tulip. It will show up like this. Let's hide this database title you can add in here. Then we will add a content calendar. To do that, add a calendar view database by pressing and then let's look for calendar. And then you can either select a data source or create a new one. Let's create a new database. Let's name this content calendar. Now you have contents inside your Notion page or not board. What we want to do is for you to easily navigate your notion page. That is what we will do by adding a toggle heading list, press and look for Toggle. And then let's choose the heading one, Then let's rename it as Navigation. I usually rename it like this, that you would be able to navigate your notion page. I hide it under a toggle heading list so that it would look more neat and nice. Again, if it's light color gray, it means the toggle heading is empty. Let's put a content inside. And then let's link your project database and then Content Calendar. Let's add a content inside your toggle heading list. Let's go to your Table View database and then choose this option button here. And then copy link to view. Then let's go up in here at the link here. You have an option to create linked view of database, mention, page or dismiss. Let's choose the mentioned page. Let's link your content calendar. Next again, let's go to the calendar view database. Open the menu and then choose Copy, Link to view. Then let's go up again, make sure you're still inside the tuggle heading list and then paste the link. And then choose mentioned page. If you missed adding it inside the Tuggle heading list, just simply press this and then drag to move until it shows up like this. It's under the toggle heading list. Now again, let's add an icon that looks more cohesive. Choose the tulip and then make it a pink color. It looks like that. Now when you close the navigation or the toggle list, it will look like this. It's cleaner, right? Whenever you want to navigate or pull up your projects or content calendar, just simply open the Tuggle heading list and then choose Content Calendar. And it will take you to your calendar view database of your content calendar. Now you can even add dividers. Let's create a divider in here by pressing the three times 123. You have a divider available in here there. You have it. Your own aesthetic notion dashboard that inspires creativity and is useful and holds all your personal and even your work projects. That wraps up this demo on how to make an aesthetically pleasing notion dashboard. How was the experience? Were you able to follow the steps that I have laid out for you?
