About This Class
Join me in my mini class on 3 basic watercolor mixes for skin tones covering light, medium, and deep values. Utilizing my favorite mixes as a base, we will then take them to a lighter value utilizing water on our brush, or change the value to warmer or cooler by adding an additional color to the base.
By keeping our base mix to only 2 colors, sometimes 3, we can keep the skin tone beautifully luminescent and avoid a muddy look. This translates well to the portrait you’re painting, offering a vibrant, translucent appearance to your skin for that fresh “skin that glows” look.
This is a great introduction to portrait painting, without the pressure of having to match an exact likeness. We know there are no 2 skin tones exactly the same, and lighting is not the same for every situation either. This is why color mixing knowledge is invaluable and will take your paintings to the next level.
I will also show you the secret sauce used to save time when you’re urban sketching, practicing in your sketchbook, or just don’t feel like color mixing.
While teaching I demonstrate, explain, and offer close-up videos in real time to assist in the learning process. Feel free to stop and re-watch, and speed up or slow down the videos along the way, to complete each step and make your experience the way you feel most comfortable. The skills you’ll learn will easily transfer to your future artwork and elevate your painting abilities, and boost your confidence.
