1. Learn OneNote Basics!: Hi, Welcome to Microsoft. Onenote. Learn OneNote basics. So you're starting out
in Microsoft OneNote. This is perfect for you. This is what we will
cover in the course. Organizing your notes synchronized across
multiple devices, draw managed media
and a whole lot more. So learn Microsoft OneNote now, and I'll see you inside.
2. Get Started with Microsoft OneNote: Hi, This is Bryan Hong
and we're going to be discussing on how to use
OneNote to the fullest. Okay, so let's get
started first with what OneNote is all about. To be honest, when I first
started working with one node, I thought it was just the
note taking application. So it's just a place
where you just type in their nose or at random
ideas, for example. And then it's just a way
to get you organized. But as I was exploring
OneNote, piece-by-piece, there's a lot of
features that you can discover inside OneNote that will be really helpful to you. That's what we are going to be covering in this course. Okay? So for one node will be focusing on this
specific version. You can see on the top here, OneNote for Windows ten. But aside from that, we will be discussing about
different versions as well, like for example, OneNote
Online and also OneNote 2016. And the cool thing with this
one, everything is free. And just to give you
a quick overview, this is actually one or 2016. Okay, so don't get
overwhelmed by this. I'll be going through
step-by-step on what are the differences so
that they can make a choice on which
fits better for you. In my opinion, I prefer this
one for Windows ten because it has a modern interface. It looks more modern
as compared to the 2016 version,
but it's up to you. I'll be discussing the
differences between the functionality so that we
can make a wise decision. Okay, So pretty much you can see that the views
are different, right? But the functionality
that you learn here in this course can be applied to the different
versions of one node. So it's pretty much applicable regardless of which version
that you choose to use.
3. Organize Notebooks: Now let's talk about
organizing notebooks. So pretty much one node has
a very simple structure. If we go here on the left side, on this sidebar over
here you can see this option called
the hide navigation. If I just click on this, it will show me all
of the notebooks. Okay, so to be able to
show your notebooks, you'll just click on
this on the top right. And then you have your
list of notebooks. So pretty much a notebook is made up of different sections, and then each section is
made up of different pages. Okay, So you could
think of it as a tree level structure in a way, notebooks and then
sections and then pages. So over here, inside notebooks, I have the default, my notebook. And then I've created a couple of more notebooks
that I wanted to use. For example, this one books
and then followed by courses. And the cool thing
with this one with notebooks inside the OneNote, it gets saved to the Cloud, which means there's
synchronization that's happening. So whenever make change. Over here in the Windows
ten version, for example, I jump into my mobile version of OneNote or to the
website version, right? The changes that I make will get synchronized
to those as well. So which means you can just jump over to your phone,
to your tablet, your laptop, and then
you would have your notes synchronized
between all of them. And for me, that's pretty
handy because for example, if I'm on the go and I wanted to take note of a specific idea. For example, if I
wanted to create a new court, all of a sudden, I could just type in inside
my OneNote in mobile phone. And then pretty much when
I get home, for example, I start working on the laptop and pretty much
everything gets sync. So I can just continue working over here as if
nothing happened. There's no need for manual
transferring and out. Okay, So inside the
books right over here, it's very easy to
create a new notebook. So for example, I'll
just right-click here and you can just
select New Notebook. So for example, let's say
I have a new notebook for meetings and then I'll just create a notebook
over here, right? An annual have a new
notebook right away. There are a couple
of customization to spell that you could
do for this one. So I could see over here, there's the green
color or orange color. So you can just customize them
to make it more obvious to you or to differentiate
from one book to another. So now we have our new notebook. And you could see on
this icon over here, it's going to get synchronized. So the next thing is let's
go back to our notebooks. Alright, so if I
just jump back here, there's a couple of
days that you can make changes on to
your notebooks. If I just right-click,
let's say on our newly created notebook. So you have nickname, you have the sync option, right? It can close this notebook
and you can change the color. So this is the one
that I've been sharing about a while ago. So if I change this
yellow for example, so you can just
have it over here. We could copy link to notebooks. So we'll be exploring
this more in a later session on how can we
share your notebook files, for example, with other people. And they can pin local to start and then View deleted nodes. Another option over
here is more, not both. So for example, if you have more notebooks that
you want to open, then you can just select
this option and then see everything under
your notebook list. So once you have set
aquitard notebooks, okay, you can just click open, but in our case, we're
just going to cancel this. So after the notebooks, we're gonna be going
straight to the section. So let's say, let's
just jump over to a different
notebook of courses. So over here what I
did was I pretty much created multiple
sections over here. So which means for the course
that I wanted to make, what are the topics that I
would want to discuss about? So you can see over here,
there's Word or Excel, there's PowerPoint
at Cheddar outlook, one node for Windows ten. Okay, so four
sections, pretty much, it's very easy as well
to create a new section. Just right-click here, and then you just
select new section. So pretty much
similar to how we did for the creating of
the new notebook. And over here, right, you could just do a similar Nick customization
to your sections. And if you just right-click on any section over here you
have the delete rename, you can move, and then you
can change the color as well. So pretty much the same options that we have
from awhile ago, Copy link as well, P in selection, and you can even have
password protection. Another thing that I
want to take note of is the use of section group. So for this section groups, It's just a handy way for you
to group sections together. So for example, in our
list over here, right, we have Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook. You're pretty much under the
Microsoft Office umbrella. So what we'll do right
now is I'll just right-click on this
empty space over here. And then I'll select new
section group, right? And then I could just type in, let's say Microsoft Office. And then you can start
dragging over here. Let's say, let's
just drag outlook, put it inside the group and say we have PowerPoint as well. Let's place it over here. So it's pretty easy,
pretty easy to do. So if you just want to
organize them together inside a section group so that you can just
hide them in one go. So if there's gonna be a lot of sexual sin
here is gonna be pretty helpful for you to make use
of Section groups, right? So after we use four sections, then this is where we
go to the lowest level, which is the pages. So if we just go here, let's say go to OneNote. I've already created a
couple of pages in here. So you could see on
this side over here, this is pretty much the
list of all the pages. So for example, we have
the course outline. We have random ideas page, and pretty much the same thing if you just add as
well, just right-click, and then you could just
create a new page, but pretty much you
could also add, let's say sections are pages from this option at
the bottom as well. You could just
click here at page, and the same thing happens. You have an untitled
page and then you can just start typing your ideas. Then you can just
drag and drop them as well if you want to
reorganize them. And then right-click
on the page. And pretty much you'll see a similar set of
options over here. The only one that's
different, right? You could have even sub pages. You can have a default
template if you're using this one over
and over again, right? And then there's even translation
pages which we will be exploring in the
next few tutorials.
4. Settings and View Tab: Okay, so before we get into modifying pages inside
our notebooks, right? But let's just jump over to the different setting
options that you could see inside OneNote to be
able to access your setting. It's just located over here
on the upper right corner. If I click on this and then
I'll just select Settings. And then we'll have
a quick look on what options that are
possible inside OneNote. So pretty much color
synchronization of notebooks, I would suggest just leave it on so that it gives you the
added convenience when you jump over to a different device that has
one or installed as well, then we have sync all
files and images. So for example, if you want to automatically
download all of them, swell and then you can
turn it on, right, Class Notebook tools, and
then we have quick note. So quick notice one of the most use options
that we can do. So over here, choose a
notebook for quick notes, and this will be the default
location for a new node. So if there's a specific
notebook that you use, for example, as your
starting point, okay? And then you just start to
organize them afterwards. Then you could use this
specific notebook. So for example, if most
of the time I think, of course ideas on
what can I do next? Then pretty much I want the default notebook to
be this four courses, because this is my
number one notebook or that's the notebook that I go to to get
things started. So you can just keep this. Just select the notebook
and then click Okay. Let's go back again
to our settings. That's kick settings options, and let's check it out. We have start tiles, we have navigation as well. If you want to go back to
the legacy navigation panes, then you could just turn it on. And then we have
create new pages. So over here, you could also
change the default font, the size as well. If you want it larger or
bigger than, it's up to you. And if you're
feeling adventurous, you can also enable the experimental features
under a OneNote preview. Then there's also a
page previous as well. And then proofing, if
you don't want to show your spelling errors,
select this as well. And then there's
also autocorrect, okay, and then paste
options, right? So pretty much the
settings in one not very accessible
over here, right? And he's just jumping over to
settings and then options. So let's jump now
to the View tab. So right now for the View tab, there's a lot of
options over here, and we'll go over
them one by one. Okay, So for example, this one, we have our course
outline right now, right this page open. Okay, and then I'll
just select new window. So this new window
option is a handy way. So for example, if
I have two pages, let's say I'm working on the
random ideas page as well. Then I want to have a
quick look on the course outline so that I could
sink the ideas together. So you can just
open a new window. Use the View new window so that you can have this side-by-side. And then you can work on
multiple pages simultaneously. Okay. Let's say you just have
one monitor like me, like what I'm doing right
now. This is pretty handy. So I'll just close
this. All right? And then the next option that I wanted to discuss is
the Immersive Reader. So what I did over here
is already created a couple of bullet points
for the course outline. Alright, and then let's
just add a couple more. Let's say conclusion. Thank you. Message for example, right? And then you just click anywhere
and then just type more. You could just type
in more over here. But let's just delete that. Now. Let's click Immersive Reader and see what's going to happen. So the cool thing with
Immersive Reader, it will load the texts for
you in an easy to read. It's like zoomed in
version, okay, over here. So now let's just click Play and then see what's
going to happen. And it's gonna be
read aloud for you. In production.
Different versions of OneNote talking about
YouTube, pros and cons. How are you? Inclusion? Thank you message. Okay, so that's pretty cool, is it just comes out of the box in OneNote and
in good, just have, let's say you have a lot of
texts and then you don't want to read it on your screen or
you're doing something else, then you could just
use Immersive Reader to just read it aloud for you. It's like having an audio book, okay, that's ready to
be read aloud for you. There's also different
options because the setting that I have right
now is pretty quick. Okay, so I could just
change the speed. Then you can also change
the voice selection, let's say from male
to female as well. So let's just try it out. Let's say let's try
it at a normal speed. Then I'll play it out. Introduction different
versions of OneNote. Talk about View
tab pros and cons. How are you? Okay,
so that's past that. So you could hear the
difference, right? You could just play around with your different settings
after the Immersive Reader. So another thing
is with the fonts. If I select this, you could just change the size as well, okay, if it's too big or
too small for you, chase the spacing
changed the font, right? And then you have
different teams as well. If you just want to change
the background color to be better on your eyes or software and your
eyes, for example. And then show source formatting. Another option is this one. Grammar options already had
this turned on for the noun. So you could see nouns
getting color-coded. Okay, so for example, if you're
learning English as well, this is gonna be pretty
helpful for you. So if you just turn this
off and then let's say, let's turn on the
verbs so you could see the color red over here
and then adjectives as well. Alright, so it's really cool. It can tell you the different
parts of speech that are available inside
your texts as well. You can even have syllables
turned on so you can see introduction over here. You can have the
different syllables and then reading preferences, okay, So we have
translations as well. You could just have this translate it to a
different language. So that's really, really cool. You can even have Line Focus. We show three lines of text when reading or just
one line of text. So you can just have like a spotlight function
that you can use. Okay, So that's really nice for Immersive Reader just
comes out of the box. So you could use that to
read long texts out loud. Let's exit that. Then. Other options that we have is pretty much going
to zoom in, zoom out. So pretty much the basic. If you're familiar
with the Office Suite, There's always that option. If you want to make
your view larger or smaller than you could
just use this two buttons. Okay, So zoom to 100%, right. I'll just click this and
back to the a 100% view. Or you could just fit
everything inside your screen with this
option over here, okay? So we have page colors
as well where you can just change the
background color, for example, okay, So
select more colors. You can just change this method. I'll just go back to
the original color. There we have rule
lines as well. Okay. If you're feeling like you want it to be a milk Brookfield, then you could just
use this right away. So for example, let's just
select this college ruled. And you can see the
nice for his leg. Real notebook, right? That's really cool
inside the OneNote. But for example, if
you're doing graphs, so you could also
use grid lines. So I'll just select this and
then you could just start making graphs as well over here again to
start growing them. So pretty much rule lines, you can just use them and
depends on the size that you need and you could just
make the changes accordingly. So I'll just turn
this off for now, or maybe we can just keep the
notebook field over here. We have deleted nodes. You could just have a
quick look over here, View deleted nodes, empty
deleted nodes, right? Okay, and then we
have translate. So for example,
translate over here. Let's select this text. How are you? Then let's just select
Translate and you can have options for selection or
pretty much the entire page. So let's go for selection first and see what's
going to happen, right? So we have over here, right? English, it was able to auto
detect the texts language. And then I've had it changed, for example, to Chinese. So it's gonna be any Homer. Okay, So that's pretty cool
because right out of the box, you would be able
to change, right, from your source language to whatever target
language that you need. So even here right
inside of OneNote, you can just have your entire
document, for example, translate it so that it becomes
easier for you to read. Okay, So that's
really, really handy. So let's close that. We can even have it inserted
right into your texts. For example, I'll just click
Insert and just copy paste, whatever the translation output. Yes, right, So
that's really cool. So let me just remove that. Let's close that. Okay, So that's pretty
much for the View tab. And then we will be jumping onto working with multiple accounts
in the next tutorial.
5. Work with Multiple Accounts: Now let's discuss about working
with multiple accounts. So inside OneNote, it's very easy if you have
multiple account, let's say you have a personal
account in a work account. So it's very easy. I'll just click on
the top over here so you could see your
email address on the top. That's my account. If I just click on it, then pretty much you
have the entire list of the accounts that I've added
to the OneNote application. And then you just
add more accounts in here at an after doing that, just close and pretty much you have your accounts in one place.
6. Tell Me In OneNote: Okay, So let's discuss about
tell me in one naught. So this is actually one of my favorite features
because if there's a multitude of options that
you could use inside OneNote, and then if you forget
on what it's called, then tell me it's very
useful to do this. So for example, for example, let's say we discussed
a while ago about what the Immersive
Reader function is. And then let's say you can't
remember what the name of the function is or you can't
remember the location. So let's just go to
home for example. And then you can remember
which tab to save you time. The Tell Me which is this
light bulb icon over here, ticket see over here telling
me what you want to do. I'll just click on this, right. Then it's going to be able to search that feature for you. Or it's gonna be able to suggest on what is the best
fit based on your needs, are based on your request. So for example, let's say I can't remember what it's
called Immersive Reader. Let's say I only remember
the keyword reader. So if I just type in
Reader over here, right, you can see
it gets suggested. I could just click on
this and then it's going to start up
Immersive Reader for me. So for example,
let's say as well, I can't remember how
to add a new section. So if I just type in
section over here, then it's going to show
me all of the options that are available for section. So that's really handy. Okay, So if you have a specific feature or
something that you need to be done inside
OneNote and you can't remember where it is or if
you just want to save time, for example, and then
just go straight to it. Then just go to the Tell
Me function over here, just click on the icon and then start typing on what
you need to be done.
7. Adding Text and Videos: Now let's discuss about adding texts and videos inside OneNote. So what I'm doing
right now is I'm inside the untitled page, so it's just a blank
page that we created. And then this is where we'll
be doing some experiments, where we're going to
be playing around adding texts and videos. It's a, okay, so over here, you can just type in text. So for example, let's
say for one node, what do I want to discuss? Let's say, what are the presentation files that
I'll be using, for example. So I want to use, let's say I'll just
create a number and then numbered
list over here. And then let's say I want
to use a PowerPoint file to show on how we can
attach files inside one, maybe another PDF
file as well, right? And then anything else? Let's say a Word file over here. What I'm doing is
you can just type in text anywhere inside your page. So it's like if I click
another one here, Let's say I thought
of another one. So you could just type
anywhere and then you can drag and
drop them as well. Okay, so that's really
cool and then adjusts. It's like a free form in a way, It's not really structured, but it's up to you
if you want to have some organization and then you can organize them together. Okay? So that's pretty much for texts. It doesn't have to be linear. Then another thing
is on the Home tab. You can have the usual stuff that you can use for editing. Let's say over here, you have your font. You can change the
size, make it larger, and then you can undo and then redo as well whatever
changes that you did. And then over here, same thing. And then you can have the
bold and italics underline, and then we have the
highlight as well, and then the font color. And that's pretty much
the Format Painter. So if you want to
copy the format, the F1 selection,
I'll just click on this and then paste
this on the other. That's pretty much it just copy paste whatever
formatting that it uses. And then we have the
clear formatting. And then over here is
font formatting as well. And then pretty much two
bullets, numbers, okay, and that indentation,
what I want to focus on is the tags over here, right? So for the tags, you can have this. So let's highlight this, right? Then the tax, let's
say, let's try D to do, okay, So over here now
you have a to-do lists. You can just tick and
then tick, right? So this is pretty cool
because there's a lot of different options
that you can use. So for example, let's try
the important tag, right? So let's say, let's undo this. And then let's say the
important one that I want to prepare
is the Word file. So I'll just tag
this as important. Okay. And then let's say
this is questionable. I'm not sure. So I'll just tag
this essay question. And therefore the
PowerPoint and say, let's just tag this as
remember for later. So this just highlights
it. But it's really cool because you can, you can create a
costume tag as well. It's up to you on how
you want to format it. And then there's a lot of
options that you can use here. There's some
customizability that you can do and then he just
reuse them so that we can label or tag specific tax or atoms
inside your OneNote pages. So that's where text and
then we have styles as well. If you have used, let's
say Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word pretty
much hairstyle for smell, predefined styles. So they can just use an
easily format your text. So for example,
let's say this one. I just want to change this
to heading to the mall to change it for this
one for change because we've tagged
this a while ago. But they change based
on the heading and then you could just
reuse as well. This headings are the
rest of your texts. So that's pretty much
for the Home tab. And then another thing is when
it comes to using videos, it's very easy as
well to paste links. So for example, a website links or YouTube links
right over here. So what I have right now is
let me just open YouTube and then we have this pivot
table, Excel tutorial. And then we'll just copy this and we'll see
what's going to happen. So for example, if
I just paste in here the YouTube link, right? So it's just going to
paste it in right away. And then you have your thumbnail as well and you can
just play it over here. So which means that that's
really cool because if you're doing
research, for example, if you are compiling a lot of videos and then tag as well, then you could just use like
copy paste links over here. And then it will also give
you a preview so that it's easier for
you to understand.
8. Inserting More Items: Okay, so now let's discuss about inserting more items
into your notes. So what I'll do right now
is let's add a new page. Let's start from scratch. And then we're gonna be
discussing about the Insert tab because there's a
lot of things that we can insert inside our pages. So the first thing
is for tables. So let's say for tables, I'll just click Insert Table. And then over here you
could just define the grid, the grid size that
you want to use. So let's go for a
four by three table. Then once you have
it, then you can just insert stuff in sign, okay? So nothing fancy. And then pretty
much you can just right-click a swell and then you can just paste or do some
formatting as well over here. Then for the table options, you can insert rows, you can insert columns, delete rows, columns, or delete the entire
table altogether. Okay? So that's pretty much for
the inserting of tables. A lot of things that you can
insert our files as well. So for example, over here, if we select File and then let's say I
have a PowerPoint file, I'll just open this.
Somehow. It won't. Let me add this here. Let's try it again. Okay, cool. Now it works. And over here it's asking like, how do you want to
insert this file? Do you want to upload to OneDrive first and
then insert the link? Or do you want to insert
as an attachment or insert as a printout for inserting
us and attachment. Let's just select this. It's just linking to the
file inside my hard drive. So here's the thing. What if we selected
the printout instead? So for example,
let's go to File. Let's select the
same file again. And then instead of
inserting as attachment, we're going to be selecting
this at insert as print out. Okay, so here's the
very cool thing. So what it's gonna do is
it's going to be converting the PowerPoint file
into a PDF file. And then it's going to be
inserting it as a printout. So pretty much it's like
clicking on this one, right? And then selecting a PDF
to insert as a prenup. And you can see here, because the PowerPoint
slides, right, There's two slides
inside that file and then it just converted it to
a PDF and he could see it. It got expanded over
here so you can see the entire contents
of the slides. So the question right now is, why would you do this
right inside the page? So what I'll do is let
me just delete this. Let me just delete this too and then have this one zoomed out. So let's go to View. Okay, I'll just zoom out so you can just zoom in and zoom out as needed so that he can
see everything in one go. So the reason why we're gonna
be having this here is, let's say you're using
an iPad or you're using a laptop or
a mobile device, then you're taking notes. And one thing that we wouldn't have lectures or
seminars right there, slides that's being used. And then what you
can do right now is, since we have it here, I can go to Draw and
then start taking notes. So for example, let's say
this is your favorite, so you could just circle it
and then just highlight that. Let's say this is the one
that you like the most, okay? So you can just do things
and then let's say this one is learn. Okay, So if you
could just type in or just write stuff in there. So there's a lot of
things you can do with the print outs because
it allows you to be, instead of printing
it out, literally, are physically, you can do
it right on your device. So that's, that's
really, really cool. Okay? So that's pretty much for
the inserting of printouts, what we can insert
as well as pictures. Online video. So pretty much similar
to what we did a while ago with the
YouTube, right? And then you can
insert links as well. So what I'll do right now, I want to focus on the inserting of audio because
we can have fun with this. So for example, let's
say you're attending a lecture or somebody speaking, and then it's too fast or you won't be able to catch
up and taking notes. So what you can do is if
you just insert an audio, so let's try it out. I'm just speaking right now and then let's see
how it's going to sound like after we
stop the recording. Okay. So I've done the audio record
so you can just hold on. Let me just zoom in
again because we can't see that audio file as well. So we have this one, right? Okay, so since I forgot that we're still in the
drawing, a face, you can see over here while
I'm trying to click on the audio file is just placing
dots all over the place. So what I'll do is let's just
go back to the icon sorted. We can select stuff, okay, so now I've selected the
audio file and then you can just go play or just
go over here to play. And then let's have a look or listen to how it sounds like I'm speaking right now and then let's see
how it's going to sound like after we
stop the recording. Yeah, that's pretty much the IO. Okay. So you can just go to Insert, insert an audio and
then it will use your mic to start
recording here. So singles for meeting
details if you have Outlook, right, because I don't
have it right now. You can just sign
in and then you can keep a complete record,
half your meeting. And then we have symbols
and then equations. So pretty much you have a lot of stuff that
you can do here. So for example, I'll
just try symbols, okay? You can just add in the emoji
as well over here, right? So there's a lot of
stuff that you can insert into your pages. So it's not just text, it's not just video. You can start files, printouts, audio so that it makes your
entire experience richer.
9. Drawing Tools: Okay, so now let's talk
about the drawing tools. So over here what we have
is I've zoomed out so that you can see the
presentation slides over here, okay, and then we have
couple of options. So over here is just selecting
of objects or type text. So if you have the Sidak that, then you can move items
around inside your page. Okay, so that's the selector, and then we have a
Lasso Select as well. So for example, let's say I'll just lasso everything inside. So I'm just holding my
left-click and then Nicky, just like in circle and then
move objects in a group. So over here, for example, I can just do that or you can also delete them all together. Then over here is insert or
remove extra space over here. If I just add some
spaces in here, I'm just holding my left-click
and then you can just drag them right so that it moves
everything down in one go. So that's pretty handy. Okay? And then next is this one. So you have your eraser. So if I have this
part over here, let me just clean them up, okay. Alright, so they're all gone. Okay. And then you have your
different markers. So over here you
just have colors, or even you can have
this one as well. Alright, so let's just try
this out, okay, over here. So there's a lot different
options that you can do. You can change it
and then make it even larger, for example, right? So that it becomes very big. Okay, So if you're a writer, if you want to write stuff, scribble stuff, then
this is perfect for you. And there's a lot
of options as well. So for example, you have
your highlighter, right? I'm not exactly familiar
with what is called, but there's a lot of
different options that you can try
and play around it. But the cool thing is if you're not limited to this one's right. So we have your pencil,
pen and highlight, or it could just go for
the plus button over here, add a pin, right? And then you could just make your own combination or
customize whatever you need. Alright, so once we have that, we can just start highlighting everything inside over here. So now it looks
like a work of art. Not exactly, but yeah, over here you have a lot of options that you can
play around with. You can even
right-click on them, modify the tool move left, move right, or even
delete them altogether. Okay, So that's pretty much for the pen slash pencil tools. Next thing is we have shapes. Okay, so for shapes, okay, So what I'll do, I'll
just add a new page. So for shapes, pretty much the basic shapes
that you have over here, okay, you can just drag over here and then
you have a shape, right? You have this as well. Okay. It's up to you on how you
want your shape to look like, okay, So we have different
shapes over here, okay? And then you can
even have a graph. So if you want to start
plotting something, right? And then as you get to
plot the graph over here, so I'll add a new page again, there's another cool feature. So for example, let's
just go and use a pen. Alright, let's make
this color black. There we go. Okay, so the cool thing
with English shape is once we have this selected and then I'll
start drawing. Okay? Like shapes. Even though it's not perfect, what it will do is it
will modify it and then transform it into the
closest best possible shape. So for example, let's say
I'm making a triangle, so it's not the best
triangle, right? It's a bit wavy on
some of the lines. Once I release the mouse, it just magically gets
transformed into a triangle. So same thing. Let's say that I'm
just making this. It just gets transform as well. Let's say a circle. Okay,
that's not a circle. Let's try again. There
you go, right? Right. So it just smooths out the
imperfections of my drawings. Alright, so that's really,
really cool. Okay? Okay, So for example, I'm making this Smiley face. So you can see over here, right? Exists change. So for Campbell, I'm
done with ink to shape. Know what I'm making this into
a canvas right? Right now. Okay, So I'm just making
Smiley face over here. So you can just change this. And that's not really good, but it's really cool
because you can just make modifications to your
shapes if you want to. Another thing as well. Yes, let's say I'm gonna
be changing this to texts. So let's say I'm writing it
out like Hello over here. And what I'll do
is let's just use the Lasso tool to select
the entire texts. And then there's an
option called ink to tax. What is going to do is whatever you've scribbled over here. It's going to try to
analyze it and then change it into type text. So I'll set this. It becomes hello.
Okay, so that's really nice if you're scribbling stuff and then let's say
you just decided, I wanted to look more like a type written
document that you can just use this functionality. And then one node
handles the rest. Okay, So let's try another one. Let's say y. Whoops, I'm still
using the Lasso tool. So let's try. Why. Okay, let's just try it out and then select using the
Lasso tool over here. Okay? Now it gets selected and then I'll
just go into text. So it's not exactly perfect, but I can just move
this around, right? Let's say I'll just cut this and then just
move it over here. You can see that
it's not exactly perfect because it really
depends on the spacing. But if your handwriting is
more consistent than mine, than one node 1.5, any challenges when it comes to converting your ink into text?
10. Search Tool: So let's talk about
the search tool. So searching is very easy inside OneNote
because you usefully, what we have selected is pretty much the
notebook less, right? So we select a notebook, we go through a section
and then we go to a page. But if we want to search for specific content
across all of art, like notebooks, it's very easy. We just go straight to the magnifying glass over
here, show search, right? And then you can just
type in the text that you want to search for. Okay, so if we go for outline, I've already done my
search over here. You can dial into a
specific notebook. But over here I
have all notebooks, so it's going to be searching
across all of the pages. And this is the one that it got. So if I select this, it's going to go
straight to that page. So it's pretty handy. But another thing is you
can also search for tags. So let me just clear
this to clear this out. And you can see over here, there's also the option
to search by tags. So for example, if we're searching for our to-do
list, for example, if you recall, a while ago, I've created to do items
I've tagged them has to do. If I select this to do, right, it just shows me the items that I have
tagged asked to do. So if I select this, it goes straight to that page. And if you recall
from a while ago, this is the list that I have. So that's really handy
because for example, if you combine this
with tags from awhile ago over here
in the Home tab. So if we have our tags
and then it can create new tags as well so that it
becomes searchable, right? When you try to look for
specific stuff in the future.
11. OneNote Web Clipper: Now let's talk about the
OneNote Web Clipper. So imagine this scenario. Let's say I'm using my browser, which is Chrome, and then
I'm browsing the web. I'm doing some research, for example, or I'm
just looking for stuff. And one thing is if I see something that I want
to save in my OneNote, normally from a
mammal perspective, I would be taking a screenshot
or maybe just highlighting text copy paste and then go to my OneNote and then
paste it there. The cool thing with
OneNote Web Clipper, so it's very easy
to search for it. You can just do a
quick Google search. So I'm assuming right now that you might be
using Chrome, okay? And then we can
just go straight to the Chrome webstore and k. And then you can see
here one node by paper, since I already
have it installed, It's this button is
removed from Chrome, but it would normally
be installed. Okay, so just click on
Install and it's very easy. And then it will go
straight to your browser. Since I have it installed, you can see on this
corner over here, right, there's this one node button
that I can use right away. So I'll just jump
over to this page. So this is the
page that shows up after you have installed
OneNote Web Clipper. So there's a couple of
ideas to get started on. What can you clip
from the web, travel, recipes, news, inspiration,
research, or even shopping. Okay, So what I'll do
right now is let's just select this one and then
see what's going to happen. So it's going to
try to clip, right? You could see over here, this is the article selection. You could change the type of clipping that
you want to happen. And then since I'm already
signed in to my OneNote, if I click on the location, you could see over here, There's the quick notes, okay, there's courses,
There's meetings, and there's the books. Okay. So pretty
much it was able to load the notebooks
that I already have. So if I open courses, you could see the familiar ones. The sections, we have the Microsoft Office
section grouping. We have these sections
of the PowerPoint. So it's up to you on where
you want to save this. So for example, let's
just say I want to save it under Excel. So over here, you
have your selections, you have your article, but you just want to bookmark,
just saved the link. Or do you want a specific region so that let's say I just want this specific section that
gets saved to OneNote. Or do you want the full page? So you can also go
for dense higher. Just save it inside OneNote so that let's say you're on the go. You can take it with you and
then continue reading it. So it's very easy because everything's inside
your browser and there's no need for
you to jump over to the OneNote
application, okay? So installed this
very easy to install, also include the
link so that you can install it on our browser. So what I'll do right now is, let's go back here again. So we're good with region. Let's say we're
good with this one. I'll just go for a clip. Then there's nothing else
that you need to do. And it's going to be doing
the heavy lifting for you. It's going to clip the region
or it's just going to save whatever selection that
you have specified, right? And it's going to go
straight to your OneNote. So what I've done right
now is I've jumped over to R1 or just to
have a quick look, did our clipping work? Okay, so I'm inside the courses notebook and
then the axial section. And if you remember, we still don't have any
pages inside Excel. So what did we did
was we just took a section clipping right
from the Chrome extension. And then let's see
what's going to happen. So we have the untitled
page over here. And then if you notice this one, this is a new page and this is the one
that we didn't create. It was created by the web
clipper, the OneNote Clipper. And the good thing
with this one is it's exactly as what we have done. Okay, there's the link over here just to help you recall
where you got it from. And then there's the
specific screenshot or section that we highlighted. So install it on your browser
so that it makes a copy and pasting or whatever that you need to bookmark.
Very easy to do.
12. Share notebooks and pages: Okay, so let's
talk about sharing Notebooks and pages
inside OneNote. It's very easy to be
able to share, okay, so if you're familiar
with the OneDrive, Okay, so there's the same
concept that you could do. You could also share stuff. You can share files for example. So it's the same concept
as well over here. So it's accessible
here on the top, right, on the Share
button over here. If I click on this. So right now what
I have selected, okay, it's the
harshest notebook. So you can see over here send link of the courses notebook. Anyone with the link can edit. So if you want to do
some collaboration, but if you just want to share, then you could also
change, right? With the Allow Editing, There's also the expiration day. There's even a password as well. So just to be sure that it's
the intended recipient. So let's just cancel this. Let's say we're happy
with the settings. And then you'll just
type in the name or email address that you
want to share the Notebook. So same thing as spelling. You can also send a copy
of the page over here, but what I'll do is
just to test it out. So I'm not going to be typing in the name
or email address. What I'll do is I'll just
copy a link over here. So it's going to create
a shareable link that anybody with this link will be able to view and edit
the courses notebook. So what I'll do is the link
is ready, I'll just copy it. And what I have open right now is an incognito
window inside Chrome. And then I'll just
paste this in and go to that specific
length that we have. Okay, so that we can have
a look on how it looks like when we share it
with another person. So now it's loading
OneNote online, okay, so I'm gonna be
discussing one online as well in a separate tutorial. So you can see over here, the view is pretty much the
same and that's really cool. It's straight in the browser. You can do it on
the mobile phone as well on your mobile browser. And you'll be able to
see the same contents. So you can see over
here one node, right? Let's say, let's just jump over to the presentation
files, right? So pretty much you could see
everything as well since the notebook was shared via the OneNote
application, right? So you could see the
exact same thing on what we're seeing. You can see over here, guest, contributor because I'm
not logged in or anything. So it's very easy to
share if you just want to jump over and you sharing, just use the share button
on the upper right corner.
13. Print Pages: So one node is not just
about taking notes, but you can also print them
out and have to warrant. So let's discuss about
printing the pages, and it's very easy to do so. So I'll just jump over to
my work of art over here. Okay, and then let's say
I want to print this out. And you can access that quickly on the
upper right corner. So I'll just click here
and then select Print. And then once we have that, you could just have
the familiar settings if you use printing
before on Windows. And you could just change
the to your printer, the orientation to landscape, then how many copies, and then the color mode if you
want it to be in black and white and it pretty
much a scaling as well. Then you could just go print and it's gonna get
outputted to your printer.
14. OneNote online: Now let's talk about
OneNote Online. So let's say you're working on a computer and then you don't have the
application installed. So it's very easy to access your OneNote notebooks
because there's also the online version, the website that you
can just go in on any browser and then be
able to view your content. Okay, so I'm just
going straight to OneNote.com and then I'm already logged in with the
same account as what we've been using for awhile ago. Okay, so over here you can
see all of the notebooks. So just to have a look
on how it looks like, Let's just go
straight to courses. Now let's go to one
of our sections and pages that we've been
playing around with. Okay, so now once it's finished, loading could see a familiar
interface over here. It's very similar to what we're seeing if I jump over here to what we're seeing over here as compared to the OneNote Online. And the cool thing
is pretty much, you could do the same
thing over here. You could just type in
pretty much the stuff that we have been doing. And then whatever you
doing here, right, it will get spanked as well to all the one node version
is that you're using. So if I just jump
over here, right, you'll see a familiar sight, like for example, the ones
that do this, that we've done. The links that we placed here. Even my work of art is
included as well over here. Okay, so just jump over
to OneNote if you want that additional access to a different way of connecting
to your OneNote notebooks. Just go to OneNote.com
and it's completely free.
15. OneNote 2016: Okay, so there's another
free application that you could use or
another version of OneNote, which is called OneNote 2016. So it's very easy
to access this. You just go to OneNote.com
slash download and then you'll be able to download it straight
to your computer. And this statement over here, you can see it doesn't expire. Use OneNote for as
long as you like. So this is a free
version as well, but you might be wondering, why would I use OneNote 2016 over the Windows
ten version for example. So what's the difference
between the two? I'll quickly walk you
through that because I just want to point out the
differences between the version. And then based on that, you can decide on which one
is a better fit for you. But the good thing is, there
are choices available for you to choose from because
pretty much near free. So it's up to you on which
version that you want to use. So I'll just jump over
to 12016 over here, since I'm logged into the same account that
we've been using, then pretty much everything
over here to notebooks, the courses, the sections
over here, right? Even dissection group, they're all synchronized
so you could see the same pages as well that we've been doing
from a while ago. Especially my work
of art over here, if you're familiar with this. Okay, So they're synchronized. So there's nothing like no additional step
that I need to do. I just need to log in with the same account
and then I'll be able to view the same content
that I've been doing. So what I want to point out is there are a
couple of differences, especially with the layout, because over here you have
your notebooks on the left. And then you have your
sections on the top right as tabs over here. And then you have your
pages on the right. But pretty much
the functionality is the same. It's consistent. It's just in a
different location. So you just need to maybe
get some familiarity on the differences of
where to look for it. So for example, for the
notebooks right over here and then
forward it sections. If you want to add
a new section, you just click this
tab over here. And then if you add
to add a new page, then you just click the
add page over here. Okay, So functionality
wise, they are the same. They're the same. So it's just getting used to the
different layout. But what I want to
point out is there are some additional
options that you could do with OneNote 2016. So I'll just walk
you through that. So first thing is
exporting of notebooks. If I just jumped straight to File and then I click Export, there's that selection
of exporting the current page section
or the notebook. And the cool thing with this
one is if you want to have a backup on your hard drive or maybe you're doing
regular backups, for example, then you can
just export everything and then save it to your hard drive or a
different location. So very handy to create backups. Then next is I want
to discuss about the Insert tab off OneNote 2016. So if you're familiar with the Microsoft Office
applications, Let's say you're using word, you would use in Excel. Then this Insert tab would
come out as something that's familiar to you as well because there's more options
you could see. So for example, there's even record audio
over here, right? Inserting they time,
date and time. Okay. So there's more options, but it's very close
to what you're seeing inside the Microsoft
Office applications. So that's where the Insert tab. Next thing is, I want to
discuss about the history. So afford a history because the handy thing over
here is you can access page versions
quickly from this tab. So let's say, let's go
to the course outline. Let's see what
happened over time. So I'll just select page
versions over here. If I select page versions, you can see over here
like started with a blank slate and then
I started editing. And then the next thing is I
added more stuff over here. The cool thing is you
could just go over quickly on the history
of the changes. If you want to undo
or you want to review on what has
changed over time, then this is perfect for you. So let's just close this. I'll just click on here and then I'll go hide page versions. I'm back to our original view. Okay, so that's where history. Next one that I want to
show is for drawing. So let's go to the Draw tab. There's a different
option that we haven't seen in the Windows ten version, which is this one, Ink to Math. So let's say, let's just
add a new page over here. And then I'll just try
drawing some stuff, Let's say one plus. Okay? So what I'll do is let me just use the Lasso
Select so you could see the functionality
is exactly the same as what we've been
doing with Windows ten. But let's use the ink to Matt and see what's
going to happen. If I use ink to Matt, it's going to convert
it to the right. It's like tax, but it's more focused towards
numerical expressions. If we're good with this one, Let's go insert and it gets
changed to one plus two. But the cool thing
with this one, if I select this again, Let's say you're
writing algebra, the algebraic expressions
right over here. I'm just making this up. I'm not even sure what
the answer would be. Okay. But the cool thing is, if you're having
trouble or challenges, like the exponents
are fractions, for example, then this
makes it very easy to you. If you're teaching
somebody in math, for example, then this
is perfect, okay? You can use the increment
function so that you can just write it out instead
of typing it out. And then OneNote, we'll
do the rest for you. So once we're good, Let's go insert and then
we're good to go. Okay. Let me just remove
this because that's the one that I did
from a while ago. This is perfect. Okay. So next thing is for review. So I'll just jump back here
to our course outline. Let's go to Review and then there's an option
called spelling. So this is similar
to the office. Let's say you're
using word, right? And then you want to have
a quick spelling check of everything and
receiving a sorrows. There's also research option. So for spelling, let's say you miss type something over here. Or let's say delicious
changed thing to this one. I'll just go for spelling and S2 gonna do the
suggestions for you. So OneNote is fine. Okay, I'll just ignore this. And there's the thank you. So it's able to suggest what are the corrections
that you could do over here. Okay? Spelling check is complete. We're good and it's now keen. Next thing is for review. So for review can also go
for password protection. So if you want to
set a password, then you can do it as well
for this section over here. So you can see current section, section one node for Windows ten isn't password protected, then you can set a password so that he can restrict
access as well. Okay, So that's pretty much the quick overview
for OneNote 2016. So it really depends
on your needs, on what you see over here. Then you can just decide 12016 or OneNote for
Windows ten for you. But pretty much the
core functionality, it's there and it's up to you to decide on which version
is better for you.
