About This Class

This is a twist on the lemon bars that you may have had in the past.  Instead of lemon we are using lime and we have added a little bit of a nutty flavor with some ground almonds in the crust.

In this class you will learn how to make these Lime bars.  First you will learn how to make the crust. You will then learn how to make the lime filling. With the lime filling made and the crust cooked we will pour the lime filling onto the crust and bake the cookies.  Once they are baked we will sprinkle them with powdered sugar and let them cool.

1. 01 Introduction: Thank you for taking this class. In this class, I will teach you how to make line bars. First, I will teach you how to make the crust. Next, I will teach you how to make the cookie feeling. That I will teach you how to bake the cookies, sprinkle powdered sugar on them, and then let them cool the cookies. Cool. I will show you how to cut them and prepare them for serving. I am a self-taught, thicker and cake decorating. Many years ago, I decided I wanted to open up my own home. Thank you. So I just felt I needed to improve my cake decorators skills. I took some classes, read some books, watch lots of videos, and of course did a lot of practice. You can tell my skills were at the level that I felt like I could open up my own home business. I opened up this business and had it for several years making special occasion cakes. Other do search for different occasions. So, so my kids have farmers markets and other professors. I had this business for several years and tell my husband got a job offer in New York City. We felt like this was a good move for us and so I closed down my business and we moved across the country to New York City. Now here in New York City, I do not want to go through the steps to open up another hump is. But I still love baking and as a retired teacher, I love teaching. So I have decided to share my skill with you on Skillshare, this class. Baker that would like to learn how to make a delicious cookie. There is a twist on the traditional Lemon Bar. I am excited to teach you the skills in this class. Let's move on to lesson number one. Making the cookie crumbs. 2. 02 The Crust: We're ready to start making the crust part of are. In this bowl. I'm going to put the butter and I want to cut it in smaller chunks because then it'll melt faster. I'm going to melt this in the microwave for 1 min, but it's only gonna be on 50% power. So we'll be back after this is microwave for 1 min. This is melted for 1 min on 50%. I'm now going to see how much more I can get to melt. As I look at it, this was a full cup of butter. It's looking like it's going to need another half a minute. I'm going to put it back in the microwave on 50 per cent for half a minute. Wow, that's melting. This is the pan. I'm going to kick it in. So I want to spray it down. And I'm using a phrase. It does also have some button, the bottom and the side, and I'm going to set that aside. Here's our cutter after that last thirty-seconds, still a couple of pieces that as I start melting because the battery is still warm, we're now ready to mix together all the ingredients for our crusts. Right here I have the flower and I'm going to dump the powdered sugar in them. Not using ground almond because I happen to have some almond flour, which is basically around almond, that's really fine. So I'm using that instead. If you don't have the flower, just go ahead and get some almonds and grind them up small. Now before I pour that butter in there, I do want to kind of mix this all up so that all of the ingredients are mixed in powdered sugar, the almond flour. Once I see that they're all mixed in well, again, to kinda make a well here in the middle, it's dumped my butter. Now, I'm just going to mix this up, basically just bringing the dry into the moist. And that's why we picked the moisture in the middle. So the issue to keep it in the bowl, to press this in the bottom. It's not like a Graham cracker crust. We're going to really want to, but we're still going to put this in the bottom with the spoon, press it to the edges. I'm going to press it out to the edges and we want this fairly thin. And you may end up using this condition, but you want to be quick about it. So it doesn't stick because we need to get this 0 the way spread out. Quite thick. Just really pet that down. So you get that totally cover. Now that the bottom is covered, I'm gonna look and see where do I have really thick spots, move cells, thick spots, where I have really thin spots. Because I really do want this close to the same level all the way round. There is the buzzer that said that the oven is preheated. We're now going to cook this in the oven for about 13 to 15 min. I'm gonna do it for 13. Wow, this is baking, will make the field. 3. 03The Filling: We're now ready to make the filling in this bowl. I'm going to start by putting my forager, my sugar, my flower, my bedroom soda, lime juice, and my lung pill. Just one small squirt of grape. We decided we'd need more. We can add it later. We're now going to beat this first. Okay, Just one quick little taste. It tastes like, would that Scott that delicious lime flavor? And this is pretty frothy. We now need to wait for the crust part to finish baking, so we'll be back when the crust is done. 4. 04 Baking, Powdered Sugar Sprinkle, And Cooling: Our oven is about ready to beat, meaning that the crust is done. We're going to pull the crossed out, pour this into the crust and put it all back in the oven and bake it for 2020, 5 min. Go ahead and pull this cell. Now when you look at the crash to see around the edges, it's starting to brown. That's what we're looking for. Now. We're just going to dome or lime mixture into the crust. This is now going to go back into the oven, cook for an additional 20 min. So we will be back. After this system cookie. Show you what we do next. You haven't just picked. So we're going to take this line by ourselves. And before they cool, I'm going to put some powdered sugar in this small sieve. And I'm just going to sprinkle it on top. I don't need a whole lot, but I do want to cover the top. Now. As soon as this course we will be done and ready to cut. 5. 05 Preparing To Serve: The line bars have cooled. We're ready to cut them and take them out of the pan so that we can serve them. What I wanna do is I wanted to score this. We're not going to make them very big. And the reason I'm scoring it is so that I can try to make them about the same size. There's one row, this where I can see and then I'll go back, cut them all the way through. I do have one that's a little bit smaller. This time I'm going to cut it in half this way as I scored. And then cut it in half this way. So now I have scored it. I'm gonna go and actually cut all the way through. Then I'm going to turn it and cut it all the way through it this way also. I also need to go along the edge. And then we're ready to take it out of the pan. Like that. I just continue till I have them all out. Here are my line bars. 6. 06 Final Thoughts: Thank you for taking this class. We had fun making our lime cookie bars. You learned how to make this layered cookie that has a crust and a feeling. We first learned how to make and baked the crust. We then prepared our feeling and ported over the warm baked crust. We then bake that. Intel was set. We pulled it out of the oven and we sprinkle powdered sugar on top. We then let it cool completely. After these cookies were called, we scored it and cut the cookies and put them on a plate so that they are ready to serve and enjoy. I hope your cookies turned out the way that you wanted them to. Please make sure to post a picture of your cookies onto our project page. Also, the recipe for these cookies is in the project section. I look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing how it went from my kitchen to your kitchen happen.
