About This Class

In this class, we will be making vintage-style name stickers on Kraft sticker paper using Cricut Joy and Procreate. I really love the look of these vintage-style stickers and with my name writing on them, I can stick them on things where I can’t easily write on.

We will be using an iPad, an Apple pen or any stylus that you have and the Procreate app. We will upload our sticker designs to the Cricut Design Space to have them printed on a printer then cutting them using the Cricut Joy.

By the end of this class, you will have a vintage-style name stickers that you’ve created yourself. I hope to see you in class.

UPDATE ON CRICUT JOY

Hello there! I've now published my latest (and final) sticker class on Skillshare - Let's Make Stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate. Please have a check here: https://skl.sh/48Ixv0A

If you have read my post before, I wrote about the Cricut Design Space being updated. It is now asking to register your machine. So I cannot anymore change my Cricut Joy to Maker to print my stickers. If you have joined my sticker classes, you know this step. So my latest class is a small update to my sticker classes where we learn a new method of creating our stickers so that we can continue to make stickers on Cricut Joy. This doesn't mean that my previous classes are outdated. I’m just adding a simple step to the process. Please check it out. Thanks!

Hi! I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. While others may say that they have been drawing since the first time they held a pen (which I think we all did), I can honestly say I learned to draw later in life. It was in 2019 that I established myself as an entrepreneur and made visualisation and illustrating as my main work. I've conducted creative facilitation that incorporates the practical and effective use of visuals. With my Masters degree in Communication, I've supported organisations' communication processes by placing organisational communication into visual context. I've illustrated for the Non-Profit organisations and for the development filed. I've also conducted Visualisation workshops to those who desire to be more visua... See full profile

1. Introduction: Hi, I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. In this class, we will be making vintage style name stickers on crafts sticker paper using Cricut Joy and procreate. I really love the look of this vintage style stickers. We will be using an iPad and Apple pen or any stylus that you have. And the procreate app will upload our sticker designs to the Cricut design space to have them printed on a printer that cutting them using the Cricut Joy. By the end of this class, you will have a vintage style name stickers that you've created yourself. I really hope to see you in class. 2. Class Project: For the class project, we will be making vintage style name stickers on a craft sticker paper. We'll be using an iPad and Apple pen or any stylus that you have. And the Procreate app. We will also need the Cricut design space, a printer and craft sticker paper. We will be using the Cricut Joy and the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat. I really like working on a 4.5 X 6.5 " mat as it allows me to make more sticker on an A4 sticker paper. We will also need a scissor or cutter. I'll be providing the template that will serve as a guide when we cut our sticker on the Cricut Joy. You will find this template in the class resources section. 3. Preparing the Stickers: Now it's time to design our name stickers on Procreate. So let's open Procreate. Hit the plus sign and let's create our canvas. I will set it at 1,200 pixel by 1,800 pixel. and 300 dpi. Hit Create. And now we can start designing our name stickers. There are two files we need before we start, the template and the letters. So let's download them from the class resources section. Let's open the layer with the letters. Let's go each letter of her name. You can also just type your name or write it down. But I'm doing this because I want to arrange the letters in a way that I'm happy about. So I will start cutting the first letter of my name by choosing the selection tool freehand than I'm going around the left her with my pen. Then swipe three fingers to choose cut and paste. Let's do it again for the second letter, remember to go to the layer where the letters are. So choose selection tool, freehand, go around the letter, swipe three fingers then, cut and paste, go back to the layer with a letter and do the same process until you have completed your name. For the last letter, I will need an E. So I will just duplicate the layer and select the layer with letter E. And now we will arrange the letters of your name until we're happy with how it looks. I will combine the layers by pinching them together. You can just leave it as it is. You can also change the color. But for me, I will be using this as a guide to redraw my name. So I will add another layer, lower the opacity of the name layer. Let's start redrawing. Once it's done, we can add the border. To do this, first, we activate the drawing guide by going to action, canvas, drawing guide, edit drawing guide. Then choose symmetry. Select the layer with the name. Choose the selection tool, then place the name in the center. Let's add a layer, then create an oval shape around our name. This shape will only serve as a guide. We will design the border on the name layer. Let's lower the opacity. Then go back to our name layer. Then let's start drawing the border. Let's draw some leaves. I'm drawing on the right side. I will also add hearts. You can add color to your design if you like by using color drop. Let's connect the design by adding lines on the empty spaces. I've removed the drawing guide and the oval. Then I've activated the template. And now I will duplicate the sticker design to have three name stickers. You can also make them smaller and make more stickers. When we place the stickers, we remove the background and the template, save this file as PNG, then send it to the Cricut design space. Also, don't forget to send the template to the Cricut design space. 4. Drawing the Template: So here we are on the Cricut design space. Let's start a new project. First, we upload a template. Follow me in this process. Be sure that the template is 4 by 6 " in size and is positioned to zero. Let's zoom in a bit so that we can see better. Check that we have Cricut Joy. Choose draw and pen. Then make it. Then take the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat. And we're going to draw on the mat to help with the cutting of stickers later. Be sure to change the blade to pen. Follow me in this process. So now we have a guide where we will put our sticker sheets for cutting. 5. Printing the Stickers: Now we will upload the sticker design. It is the same process as uploading the template. Then we will place the sticker design on the template. Then select all files and click attach, then duplicate. We are duplicating so that we can print two sheets on an A4 sticker paper. Select all then position to zero, then attach. As you might already know, the Cricut Joy doesn't have the ability to print and cut. So I will change the setting to Maker then sent to print and cut. Click Make it Then continue and send to printer. Unselect the add bleed, then print. Now we have two beautiful sheets of stickers. Let's cut the sheet. Be sure not to cut the template. Place one on the mat, placing it exactly on the template. 6. Cutting the Stickers: Now let's go back to our canvas by clicking Cancel, select all, then detach. Let's remove the other sticker sheet as we can only cut one sheet at a time. So select the sheet, then delete. Before we start cutting, Let's add the offset. Select stickers, be sure not to select the template. Click offset. Then you can choose how thick the offset would be. The important thing here is that the cut will be around the design. So be sure that there are no lines inside the stickers as the offset will guide the cutting off the stickers. Uncheck the sticker design, then select both the offset and the template, then attach. Now we can change back to Cricut Joy. Change the operation to basic cut, then make it. Choose on mat. Continue. For the base material, we will be using paper and laser copy paper. The pressure is default. Now let's change the pen to blade. Load the mat with a sticker on it, then click Go. Since I don't want the cutter to cut the sides of my sticker sheet, I will cancel the cut once the blade has finished cutting the stickers . Unload, and now it's ready. We have created beautiful vintage style name stickers. 7. Thank You: Thank you for joining me in this class. I hope you've learned something about sticker making by using Cricut Joy and Procreate. I also hope that you enjoy the process of creating vintage style name stickers. Please don't forget to snap a photo of your name stickers and share them in the project gallery section. And please don't hesitate to leave a review too. I would really appreciate that. Thanks. Bye for now and see you again soon.
