About This Class

I have published 5 stickers making classes on Skillshare where we design our stickers on Procreate then send them to the Cricut Design Space to have them printed and cut on a Cricut Joy. But now that the Cricut Design Space has been updated, it is now asking to register your machine. So I cannot anymore change my Cricut Joy to Maker to print my stickers. If you have joined my sticker classes, you know this step. So this class is an update to my previous classes where we learn a new method of creating our stickers so that we can continue to make stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate.

We would need an iPad, an Apple pen or any stylus that you have, the Procreate and the Cricut Design Space. We would need the Cricut Joy, the 4.5 X 6.5 inches mat, a printable sticker paper, a printer and a cutter or scissors. As an update, we also need a programme where we can upload our sticker sheets for printing. This could be an Abobe, or Word or Pages. This really depend on what is available to you.

By the end of this class, we will have beautiful stickers that you made yourself. If you haven’t already, you can check out my other sticker classes if you would like to make different kinds of stickers. Just keeping in mind to update to the new method that I will introduce in this class.

Hi! I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. While others may say that they have been drawing since the first time they held a pen (which I think we all did), I can honestly say I learned to draw later in life. It was in 2019 that I established myself as an entrepreneur and made visualisation and illustrating as my main work. I've conducted creative facilitation that incorporates the practical and effective use of visuals. With my Masters degree in Communication, I've supported organisations' communication processes by placing organisational communication into visual context. I've illustrated for the Non-Profit organisations and for the development filed. I've also conducted Visualisation workshops to those who desire to be more visua... See full profile

1. Introduction: I was so disappointed to know that the method I used to make stickers on Cricut Joy is not working anymore. I cannot anymore change to Maker to print and cut, because the updated Cricut Design Space is asking to register a Maker. However, I was able to find a new method and it's all about being able to print in another way. I've uploaded my sticker file on Photoshop, printed it from there and it works well. Hi. I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. I have five sticker classes on Skillshare where we design our stickers on Procreate, then send them to the Cricut Design Space to have them printed and cut on a Cricut Joy. But now the Cricut Design Space has been updated and it is now asking to register your machine. So I cannot anymore change my Cricut Joy to Maker to print my stickers. If you have joined my previous sticker classes, you know this step. So this class is an update to my sticker classes where we will learn a new method so that we can continue to make stickers on Cricut Joy. By the end of this class, you will have beautiful stickers that you made yourself. If you haven't already, please check out my previous classes if you would like to make more stickers. Just keeping in mind to use the new method that I will introduce in this class. I hope to see you in class. 2. Class Project: For the class project, we will be making flower stickers. We will design our stickers on Procreate using my stamp brushes, printing them out, then sending our stickers to the Cricut Design Space to have them cut on the Cricut Joy. We would need an ipad, an apple pen, or any stylus that you have, Procreate and the Cricut Design Space. We would need the Cricut Joy, the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat, a printable sticker paper, a printer and a cutter or scissors. As an update, we would also need a programme where we can upload our sticker sheets for printing. This could be an Adobe or Word or Pages. This really depends on what is available to you. I've provided the stamp brushes to use in our sticker making and also the template that will serve as a guide when we cut our stickers on the Cricut Joy. You can find these resources in the class resources section. 3. Preparing the Stickers: Now it's time to design our stickers on Procreate. So let's open Procreate. Hit the plus sign, and let's create our canvas for our sticker sheet. I will set it at 1,200 pixels by 1,800 pixels at 300 DPI for good quality printing. Hit create. And now we can start designing our stickers. But before that, let's download the stamp brushes and the template from the class resources section. Let's make the first sticker. I will choose black, add a layer and I will stamp one of my brushes by tapping my finger instead of tapping the pen I will add another layer, choose a colour, then I will use the monoline pen from the calligraphy section of the brush library. I will draw an oval to make a color pop. You can use the Wrap tool to create a different shape as you wish. You can find the Wrap tool under the Transform tool. Let's do this for all the stickers. Then let's arrange the stickers on the sticker sheet, keeping in mind that we will be adding the offset. So have enough space around the stickers and between the stickers. Now we will add the offset. Let's add it to the first sticker. Duplicate the layer, then go to the Adjustment panel. Choose Gaussian blur, then slide your pen to the right to choose the thickness of the offset. I will set it to 10%. Then go to the Selection tool. Choose Automatic, tap your pen or finger. Then invert. Choose the color of the offset. I will choose white. Then I will fill the layer. I will then place this layer under. Let's do this to all the stickers. Once we are done, we can combine all the layers, save it as PNG, then send it to the Cricut Design Space. 4. Printing the Stickers: For the printing, we can go back to the sticker sheet on the ipad and print it from there. But this will only print one sheet on an A4 sticker paper which is a bit of a waste. I suggest that you place your sheet on a programme that is available to you. It could be a Word document or on Pages. As long as you can print two sheets on an A4 sticker paper. For me, I'm going to use Photoshop to print my sticker sheets. Now we have two beautiful sheets of stickers. Let's cut the sheets, being careful not to cut the template. 5. Drawing the Template: Now we're going to prepare the mat to cut the stickers. So here we are on the Cricut Design Space. Let's start a new project. First, we upload the template. Follow me in this process. Set the template to 4X6", then position to zero. Select the template and put it to draw. Then make it. Follow me in this process. Then take the 4.5 X 6.5" mat and we're going to draw on the mat to help with the cutting of stickers. Remember to change the blade to pen. Follow me in this process. So now we have a guide where we will put our sticker sheets for cutting. 6. Cutting the Stickers: Now let's go back to our project by clicking Done. Now we will upload the sticker sheet. Follow me in this process. Set the stickers to 4X6". Select, Align, then Centre. Position to zero. Unselect the template then set the operation to basic cut. Then make it. Let's set the base material, Browse all the materials, then material setting, add new material. I'll name mine Flower Stickers. Save, then adjust the multicut to 85. But this really depends on the thickness of your sticker paper. I've been printing on a printable glossy vinyl sticker paper, and this setting works well for me. So it is important to experiment what works for the paper that you're using. Save and now it's ready. I will set the pressure to less for this kiss cut sticker sheet. Let's place the sticker sheet on the mat, placing it exactly on the guide. Then change the pen to blade, load the mat, then go. Unload. And now it's ready. We have created a beautiful sticker sheet. You can then repeat this process for the other sticker sheet. If you would like to make die cut stickers, just set your pressure to more. 7. Thank You : Thank you for joining me in this class. I hope you enjoyed making your stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate. Please don't forget to snap a photo of your stickers and share them in the project gallery section. And please leave a class review too. And if you're sharing your projects on Instagram, please tag me. I can't wait to see your projects. Bye for now and see you again soon.
