About This Class

Do you want to learn how to make Stickers for your own use, to share with friends, to sell or even as gifts for the Holiday? Can you imagine gifting your own stickers or sticking them on gift packages!

In this class, we will learn how to make Gingerbread stickers. We will design our stickers on Procreate then cut them on Cricut Joy.

So why Cricut Joy? Cricut Joy is only 8x4x4 inches in size which really fits well in my small working space. Also, it’s less expensive than the other cutting machines. I didn’t really want to put more money on a machine that I won’t probably manage to use because I’m not tech savvy. But I was able to figure out Cricut Joy.

We would need an iPad, an Apple pen or any stylus that you have, the Procreate and the Cricut Design Space. We would need the Cricut Joy, the 4.5 X 6.5 inches mat, a printable sticker paper, a printer and a cutter or scissors.

By the end of this class, you will have beautiful Gingerbread stickers that you have designed yourself and ready for the holiday season.

You can also check out my previous classes if you would like to make different kinds of stickers.

UPDATE ON CRICUT JOY

Hello there! I've now published my latest (and final) sticker class on Skillshare - Let's Make Stickers on Cricut Joy and Procreate. Please have a check here: https://skl.sh/48Ixv0A

If you have read my post before, I wrote about the Cricut Design Space being updated. It is now asking to register your machine. So I cannot anymore change my Cricut Joy to Maker to print my stickers. If you have joined my sticker classes, you know this step. So my latest class is a small update to my sticker classes where we learn a new method of creating our stickers so that we can continue to make stickers on Cricut Joy. This doesn't mean that my previous classes are outdated. I’m just adding a simple step to the process. Please check it out. Thanks!

Hi! I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. While others may say that they have been drawing since the first time they held a pen (which I think we all did), I can honestly say I learned to draw later in life. It was in 2019 that I established myself as an entrepreneur and made visualisation and illustrating as my main work. I've conducted creative facilitation that incorporates the practical and effective use of visuals. With my Masters degree in Communication, I've supported organisations' communication processes by placing organisational communication into visual context. I've illustrated for the Non-Profit organisations and for the development filed. I've also conducted Visualisation workshops to those who desire to be more visua... See full profile

1. Introduction: Do you want to make gingerbread stickers for the coming holiday? Can you imagine gifting your own stickers or sticking them on cards and gift packages? Hi, I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. In this class, we're going to create Gingerbread stickers. We will design our stickers on Procreate then cut them on a Cricut Joy. So why Cricut Joy? Cricut Joy is only 8 X 4 X 4" in size, which really fits well in my small working space. Also, I didn't want to put more money on a cutting machine that I would probably not manage to use because I'm not tech savvy. But I was able to figure out Cricut Joy. We would need an iPad, an apple pen or any stylus that you have, the Procreate, and the Cricut Design Space. We would need the Cricut Joy, the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat, a printable sticker paper, a printer, and a cutter or scissors. By the end of this class, you will have beautiful Gingerbread stickers ready for the holiday season. You can also check out my previous classes on sticker making if you would like to make more stickers. I really hope to see you in class. 2. Class Project : For the class project, we will be making Gingerbread stickers. We will design our stickers on Procreate then send them to the Cricut Design Space to have them printed and cut them on the Cricut Joy. We would need an iPad, an apple pen, or any stylus that you have, the Procreate, and the Cricut Design Space. We would need a Cricut Joy, the 4.5 X 6.5 " mat, a printable sticker paper, a printer and a cutter or scissors. I really like working on a 4.5 X 6.5 " mat as it allows me to print more stickers on an A4 sticker paper. I will be printing on a vinyl sticker paper and also on a hologram sticker paper for an extra holiday vibe. I'll provide a template that will serve as a guide when we cut our stickers on Cricut Joy. I also provided the color palette and some of my stamp brushes to use in your project. You can find these resources in the class resources section. 3. Preparing the Stickers: Now it's time to draw our Gingerbread stickers. Let's open Procreate. Hit the + sign and let's create our canvas. I will set it at 15 by 15" at 300 DPI for good quality printing. Hit Create. Now we can start drawing. I will choose the light brown color from the color palette that I provided. I will make the first gingerbread by using the Gingerbread stamp and setting it to the maximum size. I will stamp this by tapping my finger instead of tapping the pen. I will use the same color by using the color drop to fill it in. I will duplicate this then fill it with a darker brown. I will also duplicate the light brown one to start decorating. I will choose the red color and I'll use the monoline pen from the calligraphy section of the brush library. I will set the pen size to the maximum size. I will add another layer then add a clipping mask. You can look online to find inspiration for your designs. You can sketch them out first if you like. I will duplicate the dark brown one. Then with the transform tool, I will slightly move it to the left, then pinching them together, I will add some sugar by adding another layer, selecting white, using the sugar sprinklers brush. I will add a clipping mask. Then just move the brush over the gingerbread. Pinch them together. So now we've made our first gingerbread. We then repeat this process to make six designs, but that really depends on the size that you're going for. You can design more if you want to make smaller stickers. When you have done all your drawings, let's name this file Gingerbread stickers. 4. Preparing the Sticker Sheet: To prepare the sticker sheet, let's create another canvas. Hit the plus sign, and let's create the sticker sheet. I will set it at 1,200 X 1,800 pixel, at 300 DPI. Before we upload the stickers to the sticker sheet, let's download the template from the class resources section. Now we will upload the stickers from the Gingerbread sticker file to the sticker sheet. It's a copy and paste process. Copy the layer, then paste it by swiping three fingers. Continue doing this until you have all your stickers uploaded to the sticker sheet. Arrange the stickers in a way until you're happy with how it looks. Be sure you have enough space between the stickers and also consider the space around your stickers as we will be putting the offset around them later. I'll drop a color to my sticker sheet and put some designs on the sheet to make it more attractive. I'm using my star stamp brush to decorate the sheet, and also the sugar sprinklers. You can find these brushes in the class resources section. You can also use the other stamp brushes to decorate your sticker sheet. I will put my name on the sticker sheet by going to Actions, then Add text. When I'm happy about it, I put all the stickers in one layer by pinching them together. Then I will also put all the layers of my sticker sheet together. Now I have three layers - the stickers, the sticker sheet, and the template. I'll save all the three files separately as PNG by going to Actions, Share, then PNG. Then I send them all to the Cricut Design Space. 5. Drawing the Template: So here we are on the Cricut Design Space. Let's start a new project. First, we upload the template. Follow me in this process. Set the template to 4 X 6". Select the template and put it to draw. Then take the 4.5 X 6.5" mat and we are going to draw on the mat to help with the cutting of stickers. Remember to change the blade to pen. Follow me in this process. So now we have a guide where we will put our sticker sheet for cutting. 6. Printing the Sticker Sheet: Now we will upload the two other files, the sticker sheet and the stickers. It is the same process as uploading the template. Let's work on the sticker sheet first. Set it to 4 X 6 ". Let's enlarge this so that we can see better. Select all, then align, then center. Let's send the sticker sheet to the back so that we can see our template. Now for the stickers. We can adjust the size. Then align and center. Select all. Then position to zero. Let's add the offset. Select the stickers. Click offset. Then you can choose the thickness of the offset. You can also select the color. Select all then attach the duplicate. We're duplicating so that we can print two sheets on an A4 sticker paper. Select all, then attach. Be sure that they're position to zero. As you might already know, the Cricut Joy doesn't have the ability to print and cut. So I will change the setting on the upper right corner to Maker and set to print and cut. Then make it. Continue and send to printer. Unselect the Add Bleed. Select the Use the system dialogue. Then print. Look for the dialogue box and set the size. I'm printing on an A4 paper so I will choose A4 and also the best quality. Also, remember to set your printer to the right setting. For example, if you're printing on a glossy sticker paper, then set the printer to print glossy paper. Then print. Now we have two beautiful sheets of stickers. Let's cut the sheets. Being careful not to cut the template. Place one of them on the mat, exactly on the guide. 7. Cutting the Stickers: Now let's go back to our canvas by clicking Cancel. Select all then detach. Let's remove the other sticker sheet as we are only cutting one sheet at the time. We will uncheck the sticker sheet and stickers as we want the Cricut Joy to cut. only the offset. We will keep the template so that the cut will be on the right places. Check that they're attached. Now we can change back to Cricut Joy and change the operation to Basic cut. Then make it. Choose on mat. Check that the mat size is correct. Continue. Let's set the Base Material. Browse all the setting, then material setting. Add new material. I'll name mine Gingerbread sticker. Save, then adjust the multicut to 85. But this really depends on the thickness of your sticker paper. I've been printing on a printable, glossy vinyl sticker paper, and this setting works well for me. But for the hologram sticker paper, I have to adjust the multicut to 70 since the hologram sticker paper that I'm using is really thin save And now it's ready, I will set the pressure to less. Let's change the pen to blade. Load the mat with the sticker sheet on, then go Unload. And now it's ready. We have created the beautiful sticker sheet. You can then repeat this process for the other sticker sheet. If by any chance your stickers were not cut properly, I suggest for you to use the original Cricut Joy mat instead of the substitute one. I bought some imitations when I was not able to find the original one and I realized that my stickers were not cutting properly. In the end, I continued to use this really over used mat because my stickers are accurately cut compared to the non Cricut Joy mat. You can see here for comparison. Here I use a non Cricut Joy mat and the cut is not accurate. Here I use the Cricut Joy mat and the cut is accurate. Happily for this class, I was able to find an original Cricut Joy mat. 8. Thank You: Many thanks for joining me in this class. I hope you enjoyed creating your Gingerbread stickers and that you are inspired to create more stickers. Please don't forget to snap a photo of your stickers and share them in the project gallery section. Please leave a class review too. If you are sharing your project on Instagram, please tag me. I really can't wait to see your projects. Bye for now and see you again soon.
