About This Class

Welcome to another class of making small art using POSCA markers. This is part 4 so If you have joined my other POSCA classes, you know that I love making small art using POSCA markers.

I love the rich and vibrant colours of POSCA markers. They also dry really fast, allowing me to create something quick, fun and relaxing and I don’t need to put a lot of time and energy. With just my tiny sketchbook and a few POSCA markers, I can make art to satisfy my creative self.

In this class, we will create a small art on our Sketchbook or on any paper. We will fill a paper with flowers to create a pattern. We only need a piece of paper and three POSCA markers to create our art.

By the end of this class, you have created a small beautiful art that hopefully will inspire you to create more art using POSCA markers.

1. Introduction: Hi, I'm Elaine Vitikainen. I'm an illustrator and an entrepreneur from Helsinki. Welcome to another class where we make small art using POSCA Markers. This is part four, and if you have joined my other POSCA classes, you know that I love making small art using POSCA markers. I love the rich and vibrant colours of POSCA markers. They also dry really fast, allowing me to create something quick, fun, and relaxing, and I don't need to put a lot of time and energy. With just my tiny sketchbook and a few POSCA markers, I can make art to satisfy my creative self. In this class, we'll create a small art on our sketchbook or on any paper. We will fill a paper with flowers to create a pattern. We only need a piece of paper, three POSCA markers, and a ruler to create our art. By the end of this class, you've created a small, beautiful art that hopefully will inspire you to create more art using POSCA markers. I really can't wait to see you in class. 2. Class Project and Materials: For the class project, we'll make a small flower art. We'll create something fun and relaxing without any pressure while embracing all imperfection. Hopefully, this class will inspire you to create a habit of making small art using POSCA markers. For the materials, we only need a paper to draw on and three POSCA markers. We will fill a page with flowers to create a pattern. For the POSCA markers, we will use blue, light blue and white 1M size markers. But for you, the size of your markers will depend on the size of your art. And you are also free to use any colours that you like. And lastly, we would need a ruler. So let's start. 3. Sharpie Creative Markers: Before we make our projects, let me introduce you to another option for acrylic markers. In my third class, I introduce you to Juicy Paints by the brand Pilot. And this time, I'm going to introduce to you Sharpie Creative Markers. This is a set of 12 markers, which includes white, black and gray. I don't usually use Sharpies because of the strong smell, but these ones don't have strong smell, which is good. They have bullet tips, which I really like, but they also have the brush markers. I find them smooth to draw and easy to use. No need to prime them or shake them. Also, the tips are flexible, which makes painting easy. I drew this with Sharpie Creative Markers. I would recommend to give these markers a try, and they're also very budget friendly. 4. Drawing the Flowers and Background: In this lesson, we'll be drawing the flowers. I'll be drawing on my tiny sketchbook, but feel free to make your art in any size. First, we'll create the lines. I will place my ruler on one side of the paper, making it a bit slanted. Then I will draw the line with dark blue. I will add more lines, making sure that they have the same distance. I will then do this on the other side of the paper. At this point, it would be good to wipe away the paints from your ruler or wash it with water. The flowers that I will draw have five petals, but you can have less or more petals if you like. I will draw the middle. Then I will draw the petals, filling the space as much as possible. Then I will colour in the background. Let it dry before we colour the petals. 5. Colouring the Flowers: In this lesson, we are colouring the petals. This is also our chance to redo the shape of your petals if you want to. I'll be using light blue to colour the petals. Don't worry if you see the background colour underneath. I think it just adds another dimension to the art as it shows some texture. Let it dry before we add the finishing touches. 6. Finishing Touches: Now, let's add the finishing touches. First, I will go over the flowers with a white marker. Then I will colour the centre and add some strokes on the petals. I will also add some dots around the flowers, following the lines of the petals just to add interest. And here is the final art. 7. Thank You: Many thanks for joining me in this class. I hope you enjoyed creating your small art using POSCA markers. Please don't forget to snap a photo of your art and share it in the project gallery section if you like. I really can't wait to see what you've created. Also, please leave a class review. I would really appreciate it. And if you haven't checked out my other POSCA classes, please do so and please look forward to my next POSCA class. Bye for now and see you again soon.
