1. Design a Inspirational Poster in Illustrator: Hello everyone. My name is Marcus and I'm a designer and animator based in London. And welcome to my new class series, learning ten, where I teach great techniques in ten minutes or a little bit more. Today the exercise, we'll be doing inspirational pulsar using one of your favorite goals. It can be a code that you wrote someone else's data. We will use Adobe Illustrator typography and layout tools. Explore blending modes and illustrator effects and color swatch by name, another class, you will have inspirational poster to inspire you, me and everyone knows, Do you want to learn something really cool in ten minutes in Rome now? And I will see you in class.
2. Lesson 01 - Project overview & starting the Design : Hello everyone and welcome to one more learning death. So today we're going to be designed is inspiring pulsar. I said inspiring because I see this series of posters on Instagram with very inspiring words, very inspiring codes are you're always like to follow them because it's realized when I wake up my Instagram and I see those codes that actually inspire me. We all need a little bit of inspiration sometimes. And it's like for me, inspiration is like eating. If you don't eat, you don't get a real energy. And for me, inspiration is like a form of energy. So I decided to make a class about it. Your own inspiration, designing inspirational poster that we can actually share with your following and the class. And this way we can inspire each other. So next thing we're going to do now is set up our document. So let's go to File and New. I'm going to use a 1080 by 1350 and press Create unless starts. So the first thing I want you to do is search for, for a coat that you like or create your own code that inspire you the most. I'm going to use the same code either use before because it's really powerful for me. And I was just going to write it. And like less creating, I'll not worrying about fonts right now. I am just want to, I just wanted to create this thing, get the words out, and let go. I'm going to use for this exercise, I'm going to use Futura. I'm actually been using for tour a lot because he's the main font for my full-time job where I worked and we use it to our everyday. So I got so used to use for tour every day that I I just like it now we are used. I use knows not to like as much futuro, but now I think it works really well on everything. So, yeah, so I just going to start. So my CO2 will be actually, let's write it here. Keep creating, no matter what happens. So just write your code here so you can just for reference. So you don't get lost. And please be sure also to share which quote actually you use for this process. So be really curious about this, and let's go. So keep creating no matter what happens. So the first thing we're gonna do is just maybe exponent is letters. So let's just select tes unless set up. Let's go to Object and Expand, Fill and okay, great, So the first thing I'm going to do is actually, so I have my main concept here. And I will create some kind of layout and composition now. And then on the next class, we'll add color. And I will play around with some blend tool effects.
3. Lesson 02 - Typography composition: So let's just go. Yes, ungroup this. As soon as they expand on Group and less just move it town here. Unless maybe scale this a little bit like this. And let's divide is creating word into. And let's try to match the same there. Let's just marry. So if you go, Yeah, I think you can just go here and view rulers. Let's find the rulers, show rulers, LSS drag a ruler here. So we actually make the right size like this. Keep creating and yeah, smart guides helping us are. And let's just maybe put over just for size reference actually are going to change a color here just for now because I just want to refer to the size perfectly. Like this. Maybe. Yeah, Perfect. Keep creating. I actually already liked his portrait like this. I think is just a topography like black and white poster will be, will be really cool already. But to think, and let's just collect them, select them all. And I'm pressing Shift, so I scale it up proportionally and I press E. And then our terraform tools or superiors and is press Shift and then just drag it a little bit to make it a little bit bigger. Let's just pull this little bit. Yes, giving some whitespace here, we well know WHO negative space is actually important for a good readability. So let's just select these ones and group them. Let's go to Object Ungroup. Or I can use the shortcut Command G or Control G in Windows and do the same here. So I don't need to select like a group. I just selected one and I know there'll be grouped, which is cool. I actually go to move a little bit up. Yes, we will select those three. I will use our line tools here to spread it perfectly like this. So yeah, so I'm really happy with our concept. I'm real happy with the layout right now. So on the next class, we're going to add color to our next lesson, not class. We're going to add some color and we're going to play around with some blend effects.
4. Lesson 03- Adding Colours & effects: Hi, and welcome to the second part of this class. And in here we're going to add some color. Let's just drag this out. And let's just go to our color teams. This is my favorite way to explore colors in Adobe Illustrator. I'm not sure we're going to use the milder colors. I use an example, maybe I will explore something else. So I really liked this warm dark, I think is pretty close to the L1 for example, but well, so I'm going to just add to swatches and I'm going to get my swatches. Where are they? Are there? They are just going to drag this window out of terrorists so I can see them all the time. Going to scale this up a little bit. Maybe I'm going to make large swatches and I'm going to close this now as I'm happy with that color. So now we're going to using there a rectangle tool. I'm just going to scale this a little bit like this, create a rectangle. I'm going to arrange, sent to the back. We can see the letters now because they are black as well, but they are there. Unless maybe make it this color. Like some to make this well, let's historic. Please feel free to use any other colors. The main concept of this class is for you to express yourself and express the code that inspiring inspires you the most. Sorry, this is quite late right now and I get tired. And I really wanted to record this class today. So let's do it. I think it's worth it. Okay, let's go and now I'm going to select the letters and I'm going to change them to a protocol. Maybe something like, yeah, I like this way, like you like this color sets. But one thing we actually need to do on these letters as well is to add a stroke color. So for that, just select them. And here we're going to switch between the fill and the stroke. We're going to select a stroke color here, and let's have the dark dark stroke color. This will help us on when we apply the blend effect. Actually, let's just maybe five will be enough. Yet. Keep creating. It's really important, even, even when you are tired, I think is important. So it's just like for me is keys me energy as well. Even like to in these classes, I It makes me so happy. It doesn't really matter how tired I am. I want to do them and I really, I really enjoyed them. So I'm trying to inspire you as well. So let's go to select these two. I'm sorry. Just talked on edX but what I was doing. So let's select these letters and drag them down like this. Pressing Alt, so you actually make a copy. And then let's go to arrange and send to back and send our background back as well. Maybe let's just select our background and open our layers here. Create a new layer, name it background. Let's go to Edit, Cut and Edit, Paste, change the background. Let's align the background and lock this layer for now. And let's select this latter that's behind and this one. And let's go to Object Blend and Make blend. Now, we already have this effect happening there. Let's go back to object to Blend, Blend Options and select how many specified steps we want. Let's increase this number, maybe until ten. I think we'll be okay. Now maybe six or VR, right? Let's just check eight, then. You can be free. You don't need to select, Use the same number as I am using. It just as long as it looks nice for you is the most important thing. Next, let's do the same thing with the sea. Again. Let's send it back, arrange, send it back. Select this, let this go to Object, Blend Make. And we can actually go to the blend tool here as well. On the toolbar, we can just find it here, click twice, and then we can just select which bend option we want was eight steps. Let's just preview it. Yes. Sounds okay. Doesn't sun looks okay unless you're maybe just I click twice over it so I can move a little bit of that type. Creating actually really like this color. Unless do the same again, that's due to common base. Basically it from D2L. Let's go drag it down holding shift so it stays chick. Arrange, send to back, please. In Tibet. Yeah. Let's select them both. Blend, make, change the bend steps here again, it's pretty repetitive, but it's worth it. They effect is really nice. Okay, maybe you just need to click twice here over the blend so I can actually edit the shapes and just move it a little bit like this. And yes, we are, we have our second step of this poster done on the next class. I'm going to just two had the remaining words missing on the poster. And they knew that that suit we, We did an amazing pulsar in less than 15 minutes now. So actually in the next class, which we're going to finish this and we'll be ready to post on our social media channels.
5. Lesson 04 - Final details & Conclusion: Hi and welcome to the last part of this class. Well, it's meant to be a shortlist, so we're doing well. So let's just select this, just maybe group it so we can actually align it to the artboard better. Just like this. Yeah. So now we already have keep creating. We just need to add this little Awards Music there. So what I want to do is actually use no matter what. And then what happens. So let's just copy no matter what, I use Command C, Command V. So I only have this and now go to the Character tool. And I'm going to use all caps like that. And I'm going to drag this up here and I'm going to scale it up holding shift, just like this, the same height of letters. And I'm going to try to change to a different color. Maybe it is this orange here. And I'm going to opacity. And I'm going to explore some I'm blending effects here. Blending modes here. See the one who actually works better and creates a really interesting visual and doesn't take away my initial design. Maybe color, because I'm using different colors that may exempt before. It's actually harder for me to catch up quickly, this one will be arrived. I'm going to maybe decrease the opacity so it doesn't still too much attention. Let's try 50. Yes. Maybe I will explore a little bit. Mimic overlay. Overlay won't work because of the orange. What if I try a different color? Let's go back to multiply. Then multiply. Actually multiply works well with this color. So let's just maybe the Chris this to 60. And let's go. No matter what, what I use as a separate word is, well, what are going to be using the high drop tool here with that word selected, I want to just pick whip like this. He gets the color and the size. It doesn't get the blending mode, but it's all right. We can just go to multiply and use the same setting. And here, actually, I'm going to space the letters are a little bit so they fill the entire space there. I'm going to the character tab here, and I'm going to increase this value here until I see our t There. We are reaching the edge of the a more or less like that. So no matter what, and then we just have left happens here. Let's just go. Do the same thing. I dropped like that. And now actually, let's go again to the two character tool there. And let's just increase this value. So the less the edge of our S Just statistic g there. And perfect. Just want to change the blending mode to multiply 60 percent. Yeah. We finish our inspiring quote poster. I hope, we hope you all enjoyed is uses was really fun for me to share this with you. I really love this technique. I really love the visual effects that using the blends creates. And actually if you want to explore, you can even chain change the colors of the fields of the blend like. And then it creates like this kind of stepped gradient, which is really cool as well. You can explore this and even you can just remove the stroke if you're doing that because then you will have like a proper gradient without a stroke, something like this. If you're frenzy that maybe the darker color, well I'm just extend index, so trivial but just wanted to share with you this really quick. Like this one looks nice. Yeah, please experiment with this tool and experimental disposer. And yeah, share me, share with me and the class your favorite inspiring codes. And yeah, please be sure to share your project class on with the class. I love to see what you guys excited over time. And if you need any help or if you didn't understand something, please just reach to me. I have on my profile, you have my contacts, my Instagram, my Facebook. So please, if some students already done it and I loved it to interact with you. So yeah, that's it. Thank you so much for taking this class and I'll see you in the next one. Bye.
