1. Intro: Welcome to my class and this class, I hope you unleash your creative side and imagination. I chose a really fun topic that maybe never dumped in your mind. Think about before, which is imagining how would your dream shop look like if you happen to have a small jumps on day, what will it be? We'll explore this together and have fun with procreate that there's realize a final vivid out of your own ideas. We'll first collect some references and start roughly sketching the shop front. We'll keep adding more, do they use and fun to it till we get closer to what you have in mind. And finally, we will even take that further and make some simple animations to breathe life into your scene. Sounds Swan, isn't it? So grab your iPad, pencil and let's jump into the class. Let's get started. 2. 1- Reference Board : Welcome again. Thanks a lot for deciding to take this class. Let's get started. For the first lesson in this class, we will be collecting some reference and creating our reference board. But first we need to decide what kind of dream shop, what I like. And I decided to draw today up a small little coffee shop mike, those that we can see in Paris or Rome. Let's collect some references. And this step Pinterest as my best friend. And you will try to collect some references for anything that you would like to draw, and it will help you a lot. So let's start and start searching for some shops. You can just type any keyword that you have a mind to see what you can find here. And I'll start searching a shops crusades, and let's see what we will have here. And as you can see, these are some big shops null. Let's make it more specific and had small shops with aids. And let's see what will come. Right. These are not what I have in mind also. So let's try something else like small shops front and see what will come here. That says, hey we go. That's exactly the kind of shops that are really like and always need to do here to collect your reference board is to keep scrolling to the find some photos that had something that just grabs your attention and attracted to you. So you can just find here I like the plants. So I hit save and create the board to start collecting the photos, edit, keeps crawling, and keep adding to your boards until you have a final board here. I also like this photo soil also add it to my word. This one is great too. As you can see, not looking just for our coffee shops. I'm just looking for some details. Like the glass plus 8, like the chairs, the table, you know, the little small chalkboard that has the menu on it and all that. Just keep scrolling, just keep adding to your board. It's really one of the fun steps in the creative process. All right, let's keep searching. As you can see here, I'm just scrolling and collecting the best chops I can find and the best details I can add to my drawing to have the dream job that he had in mind. At this point, I still don't have a clear vision of how it looks like, but I kind of starting to like imagine how it looks like. All right, Now we're done. That's our word, the small shop board. These are the photos that I've collected today and that's my reference board. I hope you're following along and you have your transport ready by now. And let's head to the next lesson. 3. 2- Sketching: Alright, and now that we collected our reference board that we need to roughly sketch the idea of the rim shot that he had in mind. So let's get started. All right. That's not had to procreate and opening documents. As you can remember it, That's the Pinterest board. I just drag it to the screen beside the procreate. And with this line between them, you just drag it to decide the proportion that you need of your screen for the procreate and contrast, right, let's get started. Let's go through the photos that we collected. I liked this one because it like this, you know, stripes sheds up here, plants and how everything is composited here. And this photo also here, I really like this table and chairs. This one too has some unique chairs. I really liked it. Okay. So let's start with this photo. I'm just roughly sketch my shop here. Very roughly. Either need to be expert in drawing or anything. You're just copying something from the reference. You're just relying on how your eyes are observing the image that you have in front of you. It doesn't have to be perfect. And the construction or the perspective or oldest No, just a leach the creative side of you and start drawing freely without any limitations. Maybe I'll be having like a board here that says coffee shop maybe. And maybe some number here, the shop number or something else. I just feel like I want to do it. And I'm adding some details here and there. I think that the door, this door, it will look very nice here. Let's find about this step is that your mind will adjust to retrieve all the visual memories that you have, four doors and windows and everything, plus the boards reference that you're already dead. So you have a lot of visuals that are going on now in your minds. And that will help to develop a really nice visual to your dream shop. Okay, I just love this little chalkboards that he added. And now let's think about the table and the chain is just a small little cute table here. Just keep a very simple and rough. I sought of adding just a little cute detail here like this cute little cat. And I will tell you later why I added this here. Alright, let's keep you don't have to stack to the reference board that you collected. You just keep your imagination works here and just be as creative as you can and get it all on paper or on the procreates here. Just keep imagining and keep drawing freely without any limitations. I thought of adding some greens here to the scene to be sown eyes. Let's continue. Just collect some things from the reference board in this photo, I really like this street lamp here that I can add to my scene and let's keep going. I just try to observe how it's done here, how it looks like in the image. I really like how it looks like here. That's continuum. You just keep moving around your board to find something that looks cool. And this photo, I really like the stand or the cakes and the bakeries here. So I tried to make it here in my shop front. You can go crazy with that. You can add anything in this on these shelves. I will make key cupcakes, some bakeries. Or you think that you like. Just keep imagining if this is your shop, what we'll do, What would you like it to have? What did you like to serve people through this? And that's the fun of it. You know, you just keep imagining any, keep drawing freely. This is a great process. Maybe you can add some plants here. Just like this. I really like how it's coming by now together. The composition between the board, the shop, T1, this chair is and this killed cats and the plants. Let's keep working. Let's keep adding some details. Right? Maybe some trees and greens here and there. That will look nice on this. What I really liked. This kind of plant here that's hanging on the wall and the doors. And these little thoughts here, maybe you can add one like a cactus. Yeah, I think it looks cute. That's keep going. Just refining some lines here to make everything clear. This lamp, maybe just a small level, the floor. Just like this. And I think that's all for that rough sketch. I really like how it looks like. And let's head to the next lesson and continue with the sketch. 4. 3- Color Blocking: So now that we've finished our rough sketch, we'll start color blocking. Let's start and the resources, you'll find the color palettes that I chose for you. And you will just add it to your Procreate. And I will be choosing this one to be my default. From here, you can choose any color palette you want or even your own colors. I have. Take the opacity for this sketch a little bit down to color. And I just drag this empty layer below the sketch layer to be able to draw below it. And I start to seeing the colors. And let's start. I'll first start coloring the plants screens entries that we have in the scene. Just like this. Let's choose another brush to be, to be more bold. Maybe this one. Yes, this theorem brush, I think Effects. And let's get started. As you're familiar with Procreate, he does Joe line and drag the color to fail this face that have a closed line around, it's difficult with color. It's just that simple. Okay, let's keep going. On the same layer. I will be covering all the trees and the plants for the same way. And as you can see here, I just took this a little bit faster for you as you got the idea here. And let's keep going. And now that predominate the plants islands, us choose another layer and start coloring this board here with a brown color. Just like this. Be creating another layer for the background. For this layer, I will create another layer and head to the clipping mask, to mask in this layer to start making the stripes in it. And he loved her. Like some kind of adds a conscious. And with a darker color. I keep climbing this part. Just like this. And this actually here at the vibe of a shop. Yeah, Now that looks like a shock. Let's continue. And now let's color the shop itself. I'll be choosing UT, yellow color for that. With the same technique. You'll just make a line and you drag the color into it to fill it up. And keep going with that. And now the shop is colored. Let's keep going. As you can see, it's a very simple technique. Just creating layers below your sketch. And you start coloring and color blocking the scene with the color palettes that you've chosen before. Very simple process and it's really nice. And now with this lamp, okay? And here I will copy it. I'll duplicate a layer until and some balance or some kind of symmetry to the scene. And now for the thoughts, I chose this brown color. Desk plots, that tree branches. Just think that made sure to close the lines for a linear at that the alkyne for you to drag the color easily to fell the layer and not the whole canvas. All right. Let's keep going. And now for the sable, okay. You're just free to add any kind of details you like or discharge and contrast for something. Okay. I think of drawing a little null cup of coffee here on this sign. And now IOB just handwriting coffee shop on this board. And here as you can see with this tool, I use distorted and the warp tool to edit the text. Okay, That's at this clock. And let's keep going. And now for this cat, it's very simple. You're free to watch some references for a cast like cartoon cats are cats and you're just drawing from reference is will make it very easy for you, or you can draw offering from your imagination into the dust. Add this creative thoughts to your theme. That's what I'm doing now by the way, I'm just trying from my imagination. And I think it looks cute. And now on the shelves that's now created some items and colors in our color palette. Let's think of some fossils, bakeries, cupcakes, and all that. You just keep adding more details to your scene. And let's complete. It's a very fun process and you'll enjoy it very much and it will help you in the next lessons. And now that we're done with a client plucking, I really like how it turned out. Now, let's just jump into the next lesson. 5. 4- Details and textures: And now for this lesson that we finished art color blocking, we will start adding more details and textures to the scene. So let's start. It's one of the finest chefs that are really like. So Let's start. I will clip mask some layers into our layers to add details like here in this yellow shop IO clip mask, another layer to be masked and to add some shadows, as you can see here. Below, anything that's above that, like the thoughts, the board and everything. This plant here. All right, Let's make it multiply. And now I will be adding some stripes as texturing to the wall entry like this effect. And you can add any effect that you have in mind. It will just be so good. Okay, You just add some breaks here. Just like this. And maybe adding a frame around this door. I really like how it looks. And some other breaths here. And maybe around. And then continue the stripes. And as you can see already, it adds something right here from the UN saturation, saying you can change the color of the background or a layer you have. And now for this board, I also mass a layer inside of it with a clipping mask option to add some shadows and the shadows to it. Just like this. Let's continue. And now I will be making another layer above it to ride the menu. Again with my handwriting because it just adds this, this touch. And of course some prizes. I love how it looks like. Ok. And now some texture is like and now some wooden texture to this board. Looks very cute. You have two options to draw inside the layer, whether to choose the Alpha Lock option, for the layer to be able to draw inside of it or to create another layer above that and clip mask the layer into it. Let's keep going. This step is really all about your personal taste. It's, it's about how you imagine your final image in your mind right now on how it looks like. And you just keep adding. And about this shading. You just can imagine where is the source of light comes and you can just draw some simple shades in the opposite direction. Just keep it as simple as you can. If it's hard for you, you can always look at references and drove from them. Just keep it easy for yourself. And as I added some, some shadows, we also add some reflections and lighting. Alright. Also some shadows here. And let's keep going. Maybe some lines here, it'll be cool. Some flowers on the plants also added a little touch. And also the hue saturation. You keep playing with the colors of any layer that you can find odd for your valid, just like this. And here as you can see, I'm adding some texts right to the chair. Just think that and some shadows for the cats. Here, I'll just use a light color to make the effect of that lamp. And duplicated here. Just keep it very simple. Now let's keep going. And here as you can see, I'm adding more details to the stuff that a granny, but before, under these challenges, it looks really good now. And we can add some stripes on the back of these things. If it's along inside the shop or anything. Just so simple. That's keep adding details and textures. I'm thinking of making this table and chair in a little bit bigger. Here in the front of this scene. Just like this. Now will look really nice. Maybe like some fence or some dark color here in the background that looks nice too. And that was the final image for my dream shop. At us love how it turned out. And let's head to the next lesson now to keep working more on that. 6. 5- Experimenting with colors: So now in this step you can just consider it like an extra lesson or something because I thought of y naught to try some color compositions here and to play a little bit with the colors of the shop. So let's start. As you can see here, I just flattened all the layers together and I'll duplicate that and hits here to the adjustments. And I also like the noise. And as you can see here, we have some options down there. And by swiping your finger around the screen and right, the left, you can add more noise or less noise. I just loved this effect. It adds some vintage look to the scene, is you can see here. All right. And now let's try some other adjustments that when I have more effects like the gradient maps one my favorites, you can swipe down here and those till you find something that can add some touch to your shop, just like this one, I'll take the opacity a little bit down as you can see, it just got so much older. I just thought this effect, those nice. All right, let's keep experimenting with colors and see what are the effects that we can get more than this. Ok. And as you can see him just here exporting here from the Share option. So whenever you create a new color composition that you just like when you export it and save it as an image on your iPad for later. Right, that's chosen other thing was, which is the chromatic aberration. I just love it. It just keeps swapping your finger and keep moving this circle here and there to be a focus point. And you can choose how much migration of be having here. And as you can see, these little options here are looking nice. Also, we had this Halftone. As you see here, we have some cool effects. These pixels effects. Very nice. And a little bit too much. Yes, it's the ones. Okay. Let's keep trying. Strike the gradient map for another trial. All right, let's try this one and just take the invested Latin but down. And maybe we can play with the blending modes. Become find something cool here. All right. As you can see here in this effect is really, really cool. It just took all the colors, the middle lighter, and just loved it. So I will also hit the Share option and save it exported as PNG and save it to my iPad. And that's it. These are the trials that we had today. And are you liked it? All right, less. So let's skip that and head to the animation part. See you in there. 7. 7- Animation: And now for the fun part and the really fun stuff here in this class, which is the animation. So let's just jump into it. To start the animation in procreates always need to do is to head to the actions and open this animation assist. And as you can see here, you'll find that how it works reads from the below layers to the top layers. Okay, So always need to do here is to decide are the layers that you would like to move. And what are the layers that you would like to be still? By pinching the layers together, you will keep flattening and merging the layers that you'll need in the background together because they will just remain still, just like this. So as you can see here, I'm just merging together the shop, the trees, the lamp and all that. I just keep merging and pinching the layers together to add them together. Just like this. Just choose oldest and creates a group. Unless they are in a new group. You can just pinch this group with the layer below. And now I can just delete the sketch layer. I can remove this part. I just don't need it. And so you can see here all things that I want to be moving was this sign here, this air conditioner, F until later up and the tail of the cats. So these are only the things that I will be leaving in separate layers. And all the other things are just flattened. All right, we have two options here, the background and the foreground. These are the layers that were remains till above oldest layers, which is of help foregrounds and below all the layers, which is the background. These are the only two layers that will remain still. And between them, you'll have the layers that would be animated. That's how it works here in Procreate. So for me, I will be making the shop, the trees and everything that we just flats and I will make it as a background. So maybe remaining below all the layers and still. And also are we having this little circle up on this air conditioner ventilator up there. It will be in the foreground, so it will never move, but it will remain above the layer of the fan up there. Right? Copy, lock me in art. Now, let's start. And here we have the tail of the cat. Let's just give it a name. Naming your layers is really great for organizing your layers because in a minute we'll be duplicating all of that to make them movements happen. Don't worry. Animation may sound just like a hassle or overwhelming for some people, but believe me, it's really, really easy here on Procreate. I don't find the software's of animation, but I just loved how it's very simple here on Procreate. So give it a try and don't feel overwhelmed and just follow along with me step-by-step. All right, Atari renamed all the layers. We'll start planning for the animation. This one here is the foreground. This is the layer that we remain up there and still, and this is the background that we remain low older layers without moving. Okay, We will now group the three layers though be moving here. And we will duplicate that was the number of frames. You'd like it to be moving. All right. There were me. You'll understand what I mean right now. So now as you can see here, here is the cat tail and that tail to go from side to side. How to do that in animation here in Procreate, It's a frame-by-frame animation. So to move this tail, you need to duplicate it a couple of times and each time you just rotate it a little better place for the tail and for the other one. Now, I will just hit the select option up there. And I will choose the distort option to move it just a little bit, just a moment, a little bit. All right. And now for the third one, I will also use the distort. And as you can see here, why I'm using the Distort and not using the original rotate option is that the storage is just moving one side of this selection rectangle around it. So I will be keeping the origin point of the tail that's attached to the cat. I will keep it in place and it will be only moving the rest of the tail. So it will be all starting from the same point. That's the beginning of the tail that's attached to the cat. And I will be just moving the tail itself, right? Just like this. It's very, very simple. And now I will duplicate it one more time. And also I'm using the distort option in GitHub like that. So when you hit play down there, you will find that smoothing so fast. I would say the frames per second number here, but they've been down to be slower. So as you can see here, it's moving very nicely. And as you can see here in the timeline down there, it's smoothing is just reading the layers that you duplicate it. All right? Very simple. It's very simple. You guys maybe it will seem like overwhelming for you, but believe me, it will get very better now. Okay? And that's all for the cat's tail. Of course you can add more and more like when you duplicate and that I knew can make it likes it's the tail, the end of the tail can swirl. You can draw as many frames as you want. Let's just move that a little bit like this. And as you can see here at the onion skin frames, what did the audience can frame? When you're moving something from place to place, you can find that there is some transparent layer below it, which is the step before it or the other layer that's before it's in the, in the animation part. So it just shows you where, where was your object before, and where is it now and where it's heading. So you can choose how many layers it needs to be appearing here for you. And for me, I just choose the onion skin frames like to or like one or two. I just don't want to see all the frames that's before and that's after the frame that I'm in now. I just want to see where I was in the past frame to be able to continue for it not to be distracted. All right, let's continue. Keep hitting play. I'm playing with the frames per second to make it faster or to make a slower. It's all about that. It's very simple. And all what you need to do to be better. And the animation with Procreate is to keep experimenting in the light. Try drawing frame by frame bowls, balancing, try to draw some very small things that's moving from place to place and keep experimenting with that. Alright, and that's where the cat tail, I think it looks very nice and I really like the pace of it. And that's it. Maybe if we just, we just added one layer here. I think this the whole group is a frame, so we add a new layer in the group, which is the steps of the islands hosing. When it's fully closed, it's nice to draw just the level line like it's, which is the eyelashes. Maybe. It looks pretty nice. I can take the frames per second, little bit down to be a little bit slower, just like this. Okay, now it's much cuter. Alright. Now let's try something else. That's keeping me think. Ok. And now for this cup of coffee sign, I'll take up, I say let them down. In one of the trains. I will keep playing with the opacity in all the frames as if it's done with light, as if it's igniting gardens, lighting bed like this. I'll write that this is Fred, this sign. It looks nice for me. Let's keep working. Ok. And now finally with this fan, how can we make this fun look like it's working? All right, we'll open this and we'll just rotate it. Let's think this ampere, the vast frame. We will also rotate it further just like that. And now let's try how it looks like. It'll be like this. It looks very fun. As you can see. It just added something to the scene. You know, lads, it's really working. As I told you, it's very simple. I may ship. I can take Z0 speeds up with claim with the frames per second state. This still looks nice. Alright? Just keep experimenting and trying until you find something that you like. So it's very nice. I really like for now. It's very simple. It's for beginner level here that anyone can do. So I thought I'd be maybe be firing part here. Just like that. Just to add more contrast to this pan to be more clear. Brian, just like this. And some details like this. Look nice. And maybe some train for that. I feed the scene looks green lines and as I told you is, it's just a beginner friendly and you can have more indie games depending on your animation. It's treaties level, like you come with the plans. You can move anything in the scene. And now for some final touches thing here, okay. That's hole for that same guys. I just love how it looks. And now let's export that to be able to share it anywhere. Let's head to the next lesson. 8. 8- Exporting + final thoughts : And now that we've finished our class, it's time for us to export the animation that we've just done. Let's just start that. To export this enemy, the Virgin of your artwork, you will head to the Share option and you'll find the enemy, the PNG. We have the animated PNG year, and we have the options for it. You can also change the frames per seconds. But I really like to export it as an animated MP4 for Instagram and Facebook, you have two options here, the web ready and the maximum resolution, but it does Bob, the maximum resolution. As you can see here, if we change the frames per second option, it just makes it fast or slow, or right? And that's it. You just had a made it MP4 and you hit Export. And now you're exporting. You have a lot of options whether to save it to your files, to send that to yourself in the email, to AirDrop it to any other device or anything. And that's it. Now you're seeing is ready to be shared about that. If this is your first scene or your first drug in this class, don't be afraid or intimidated to share it with people. I know how hard it can be an know how a little bit scary it can seem in the very first getting because we all been there. I remember myself didn't want to share anything I just made in the beginning, but at some point I just realized that I don't care about that. I just want to share what I'm doing and dishonesty, how I will progress was dying. I just wanted this documented. I asked you what is the first frame or the first character or the first sketch I ever posted. And the last thing I've posted today, just to embrace that, see how my style has developed. It's really amazing process and you will regret if you didn't start today. Don't look to the people who are professional enough to have the word featured everywhere and it looks perfectly perfect. No, Just remember that everybody started from somewhere. And it's better for you to start. Now, there is a quote, an amazing quote actually that or you like, which is don't wait to be great, to start, to start to be great. If you started, one of the worst thing that can ever happen, you can have a bad calling from someone. So what does remember that nobody has the right to judge. It's just your, your creative side and you're sharing this side with the world. So you have to be ready for the back comments and the comments. And also as the back comments can be bad for you. The good comments actually can be bad because some of the people in the very first beginning to share something and it's very beginner level. And they get some good comments from their friends, their family, and the scene that is amazing and it looks awesome and it just feel that they are already experts and the Dani to study anymore because the do something that appeals to add the majority of the people that they are following them. So they just stop studying and they keep doing the things that got good comes from people. This is so wrong also because the need to keep drawing all along the way. You keep trying. Things that you're not familiar with. You keep learning every day, just learn something every day. You keep studying, exploring, experimenting, and posting the final result to the social media. Just to build a following and just to build some trust with the people. And just remember that people love to see the process. So it's really nice to share that and document that. And like five years later or two years later or three years later, you'll be happy with how much content of added on line and it needs so proud of yourself. That's it for today.
