About This Class

Welcome to the class!

In this course, you will learn how to create a handmade leather pouch for a ring using a template and following very simple leather crafting methods.

The best part of this is that you don't need to have any previous leatherwork experience since this project is extremely easy and fast to accomplish. Once you've learned and mastered these techniques, you can apply them to any leather wallet you want.

The project for this class is to create your own leather pouch applying the methods we will cover in the class using the template provided in the class project section.

1. Introduction and materials needed: Hello everyone. I hope you're doing well today. Welcome to this class where I'll show you how you can make this lettering by hand. This is a very simple project you can make in no time. The tools you need are easy to get online and are a great option if you're looking for a gift for anyone who wants to take care of the Rings or other small jewelry. The materials you'll need to make the Bulge. Besides the PDF template, you can download the class predict sections are your preferred type of leather. A pair of scissors, or unaccepted knife. You'd prefer the color of leather edge paint. And paint applicator. Wouldn't burnisher, a ceiling burnishing gum, a small piece of canvas. Another one, ruler. Failure. There been a poly block, a diamond CISO for leather. Stitching needles. Here, preferred type Fred and other hammock. Well, this seems to be a large list of materials. Take in mind, these are usually everyday use tools for any projects. So we'll plan on working with future projects for the most part of this list, you'll only need to invest once. Let's now see how the pouch is back. 2. Building the pouch: So the first thing to do is to choose the type of leather. And I wanted to work with. In this case, I'm using a black, chrome tanned leather, has a slit feel on the inside and is very soft and flexible to the touch. From this other piece, what I'm doing now is I'm using a template to draw over the leather, leather band, the entire body of the pouch. I then cut a little piece to around two or more comfortably with a fall part. And have in mind that whenever cutting leather, make sure you take your time. Whether you're using a knife or a pair of scissors. And we can see how the body of the pouch will look once we finish this project since the beginning, by just bending the entire piece approximately where the stitches will go. Once we're happy with our piece cut, I suggest you paint varnish and polish the edges. There are many types of paints and burnishing methods. However, for this pouch, what I'm using this feedings black edge coat, which is one of my favorites, followed by some burnishing with a wooden furniture just to flatten DHS one, spend it. Then I'll finish it with some burnishing Gmb by rubbing some gum with a small piece of canvas all around the level of peace. So what I'm doing next is to mark the distance or the other will bend too close the pouch. And you can play with a few millimeters without any problem. When doing this, distance is going to be a matter of preference. Okay? And then mark the stitching lines with an edge that measures four millimeters and a polymath and make their first holes that going from this holes will serve as a guide for punching the entire pouch at once. It's glued. Now before. If your piece will have some initials and bowls or marked, this is a good time to do this step. In this case, the bars will have two initials and RNA. The first one will be slightly higher than the other and a small dot between them. Once it's done. And user first bunches as a guide to prefer the entirety of the pieces. When you're happy with that, you can stitch into our pouch. For this project, I'm using black polyester thread, risen 25, better known as a great threat for any project. It is very friendly to use and it's extremely resistant to this on both side of the boat as well as in the upper part or the cup will be. And if you see the edges curves because of the stitching, you can use any other hammer to flatten them Here. Okay. 3. Final project: Now it's your turn to apply what you've learned during this class can make your own leather pouch. You can use the PDF template available in the class project section to make this design. Remember, you can use any type of leather you wish. You hadn't seen my other class on how to build a little wallet, I invite you to do so where you can find more techniques from another lining, painting and searching. I hope you have enjoyed the class can see you in the next one.
