1. Welcome to the Class: Often having a busy day and academic schedule to find
some peace and relaxation. I always tend to paint some
landscapes and Seascapes. Washes a medium
which helps you to give us soothing
finish while painting. And this class, we are going
to create five beautiful, minimal Vibrant Seascapes, which are going to be very easy, simple, and fund to create. We are going to paint on
MDF Circular Coasters, which are medium density fibre. Hey everybody, I'm rutvik Patel. I'm a self-taught
independent artist and an interior
designer by profession. Staging is something that
I love to do the most. And my major focus is always to create
some amazing classes for beginners and
intermediate artists were trying to
develop their skills. And this class we are
going to talk about all the odd supplies
that you will need. So before we start with
the class projects, we are going to have a
beautiful practice session in which we are going to learn about all the
elements and how to paint them in a very
easy and simple manner. From painting the
background and combining all the minimal elements to
form a beautiful seascape. We are going to create
a practice sheet in detail which will
help you to enhance your skills and learn all
the methods and techniques. Start by painting
the background, which is going to have a
gradient sky and a water body, creating some beautiful
clouds in the sky. We are going to combine minimal
elements like Mountains, round bodies, Pine Trees, etc. to form a minimal and
aesthetic seascape. Having minute details and depth, we are going to finish
all the five paintings. The class is absolutely
suited for beginners and also intermediate and
advanced level artists can try it and gives you
a new to wash medium. This class will be
a very good source for you to explore them. You're definitely going
to learn something new and I'm very happy and excited to share this
class with all of you. So without any delay, grab your add supplies and join me in this
creative journey.
2. Art Supplies: Hey everybody. So
before we start, let us talk about
all the odd supplies that you will need for
this particular class. As you can observe, I am
pleased all my add supplies and a proper manner so
that I can give you all the details about them. So the first one is a
simple MDF coaster. So as you can observe, it's
a circular shape basically. In case you want to
know the diameter, it's approximately 3.5 ". Now it's not at all
compulsory to use the same circular shape
or the exact size. You can go for any other good alternative or shape as well. Or even you can go for a
watercolor paper as well. Now the next Art Supply is
a simple color palette. So you can already observe, I haven't even cleaned it. It already has the colors. Just make sure that you
color palette as having enough space for using
more than two colors. The next on supply is a
simple Tissue paper to dab the Brushes and remove excess amount of water
and color from it. Then next up we have to wash colors which are
black and white. Basically. I was out on
black and white tube colors. That's why I'm using
the additional tabs. Now let us talk about
the main Art Supply, which is the gouache
color tubes. So let me take you
a little bit closer so that I can give
you the details. So you will need three
colors, basically, the first one is cobalt blue, then we have cerulean blue. And the last one is viridian. So these are the three
gouache color tube that you will need for
this particular class. Incase you do not have
the exact colors you can go for any other good
alternative as well. Then comes the next
important Art Supply, which are the
brushes that we are going to use for this
particular class. And you will need
only three Brushes. For the first one is a simple
flat brush of size 11. Then the next one is around
brush basically of size six. And another round
brush, size four. So you will need
only three brushes for this particular class. Then comes the next odd supply, which is a simple benzyl. There might be requirement
to draw a rough sketch. You can use a simple pencil. And then we have the
last Art Supply, which is a simple cup of water that you can
clean up your brushes. These are all the odd supplies that you will need for
this particular class in case you're missing out on any particular Art Supply,
no need to worry at all. You can go for any other
good alternative as well. Now let us move
towards the next part.
3. Lets Practice the Elements: Hey everybody. So before we start with all the
class projects, let us have a nice
practice session in which we are going to learn about all the elements and
how to paint them in detail. You can observe that I have
placed a watercolor paper, but the masking
tape on the sides and one simple masking
tape in-between to divide it into two sections. So initially we are going
to practice how to paint the gradient sky
in the background. I'm using my flat brush size 11. I've taken some
water in it and we are just simply
applying a thin coat of water initially onto
the watercolor paper that you're brush can move
a little bit smoother. Now, in the color palette, I have taken some cerulean blue, you can observe it
and my color palette. And we are going to take
some good amount of color in the brush and simply observe
these strokes of the brush. It's a simple
horizontal movement. Start applying it from the bottom portion and move towards the upper
portion slowly. Now this is basically known
as a wet-on-wet technique in which we have applied at
ten coat of water initially. And then we are applying
another coat of color, which is also wet since it's
having some water in it. You can observe that
we have applied and nice cutoffs cerulean blue. Now to create a nice gradient
effect in the background, we are going to take our
round brush size six, take some solid
white color in it and observe the
movement of the brush. I have simply applied it
on the other portion, making these little
horizontal strokes. Now I'll be taking my
flat brush size 11. Again, clean it and water
carefully that the brush onto the Tissue paper to remove all the excess
amount of water, make the brush completely dry, and start blending the white and cerulean
blue color together. You can start applying
these drugs from the top portion and slowly you can come towards
the bottom area. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply these strokes in a very slow and careful manner. The more you blend, the more perfect gradient
effect you will get. We are done painting the entire gradient background
for this guy. Incase, you find that there is some water left in
your flat brush. You can again dab it onto the Tissue paper to
make it completely dry. Now once we are done with the gradient
background in the sky, we are having these
beautiful white clouds. Now the techniques to
paint these clouds as a very simple and easy process. So I'll be taking my round
brush off size for ticket into the color palette and add some nice solid
white color in it. Add a little bit of water to make the color a
little bit loose. And it will be
simply applying it in a very random
and natural way. So as you know, that
clouds generally have a very natural and
organic shape. There isn't any particular
way of painting this, but you can just apply these little horizontal
strokes in a random way. You can already observe the
movement of my round brush. I'm just trying to have these little horizontal strokes
which are simply getting vanished as we move towards the edges. No need
to worry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Also incase, you
find that there is a little bit of axis amount
of water in your round brush. What you can do is try to
have the white color in it. It's absolutely fine,
but dab your brush onto the Tissue paper so that axis amount of water
will be removed. And you'll be able to get this nice rough texture
of white color. Incase you find it a little bit difficult
audio or not that much confident enough to paint it directly to the
final painting. What you can do is
you can practice it on a rough scrape of people, initially, the one that
we are doing right now. And then you can go towards
your final painting. This will help you
to develop a lot of confidence and the chances of making mistakes
will be very less. So as you can observe, I'm painting some clouds on
the left-hand portion. Also. You can observe that I have not planned the
way I'm painting the clouds. It's a very natural
and random composition that we are creating right now. It is absolutely fine that
if you are not able to paint it in the exact same
way I'm painting right now. You can create your
own natural shapes and you can create your
own composition as well. So as you can
observe, I'm adding a little bit of clouds on
the top portion as well. You can also relate
it with the Coasters, which are the class projects. So this is how you have to paint the clouds in the
entire background. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. I'll be taking some
solid white color and my color palette, again, add some amount of
water and simply draw a small circle which is replicating the sun in
the entire painting. Now let us move towards
the next element, which is the water body having
some nice waves and depth. So the steps are
absolutely same. You just have to take your
flat brush of size 11, try to apply a thin coat
of water initially. So now we'll be taking
some cobalt blue, which is already there
in my color palette, add some amount of water and
just losing the cholera. Take some good quantity
of the color and simply observe the
movement of my flat brush. It's a simple
horizontal movement and tried to apply
these strokes in this horizontal
direction in case you find that there
is excess amount of water in your brush, just simply dab your brush onto the Tissue paper so that the axis amount of
water will be removed. Now this time we're not going to create a gradient effect. We're just applying a solid coat of cobalt blue on
the entire surface. Let me tell you about the
watercolor paper as well. So it's a watercolor
paper of 300 GSM. Gsm basically means
that thickness of the people so that you can apply heavy coat of water
and color together on it. The size of the watercolor
paper is a five. You can use any other
good alternative as well. Now to create the
waves and depth, I'll be using my size
four round brush, taking some solid
white color in it. And simply randomly
you have to apply the horizontal strokes on the cobalt blue color that
we have applied right now. So there isn't any
particular method of applying these
horizontal strokes. You can just apply them in
all random and natural way. Right now you can observe that the strokes that we have applied are very sharp and in
contrast with the background. The next step is to blend them with the
background and make a nice depth which
will replicate the waves in the
entire water body. Not to do that, take
your flat brush again, clean it and water carefully, make sure that there
isn't any color left. Dab it onto the Tissue paper, make it completely dry. And again, apply these
horizontal strokes on the entire surface. Now you will observe that
these sharp white strokes are completely blended with the entire cobalt
blue background. This is how we have to paint the entire water body having
some views and depth in it. So we are done with the
background elements, which are these guy area, which is having
some clouds and the Son and the water body with w's. Now simply remove the masking
tape so that you can get the exact idea of how you have practiced and painted
the background elements. No need to hurry at all. Try to remove the masking tape in an angle so that you do not
end up tearing your paper. You can observe that we have got a nice white edge once we
remove the masking tape. And it's the most
satisfying part as well. So now I'll we just simply
labeling all the pods. It's something that I
love to do the most. Now comes the next element, which is the Mountains
and the rock bodies that we have to paint using
some solid black color. So in the color palette
you can observe we are having some
solid black color. Try to add some amount of
water to loosen the cholera. We are going to use the
round brush off size four. And you can observe that
using the tip of the brush, I have created a nice outline painting the entire
mountain body. Now once you have
created the outline, you can simply fill in
solid black color inside. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Now again, I'll be telling
you the same thing. Mountains and rock bodies
are also natural elements. They are going to have a very
natural and organic shapes. So there isn't any particular
way of painting it. You can create your own
composition and shape as well. Similarly, I have created another mountain body
on the bottom portion. Now will be painting
another mountain body, which is going to have some
gap in-between which you can relate with the coaster placed on the right-hand side, having a Waterfall
body in-between. You just have to
leave some space in-between creating
two vertical strokes. And then similarly, you
have to just create the outline for the
mountain body and fallen, fallen black color inside. This is how you have to paint the Mountains and
the wrong bodies. No need to hurry at
all. Try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. Make sure that there isn't any whitespace left in-between. Now let us practice
another element so you can observe the coaster, which is having some
nice plantations, which are basically
Pine trees and bushes. Let us start with the bushes. You can also consider
them as Trees. Just have to use your round
brush size for the exam, solid black color in it. Try to paint a distorted outline using the tip of
the round brush by applying these
random strokes and just simply fill in solid
black color inside. Now to create a reflection
effect onto the water body, simply apply small
horizontal strokes on the bottom potion. As you move towards
the bottom part, just decrease the size of the
strokes that you're making. Now let us practice
the binaries. So it's very interesting
to paint them. Simply create two
vertical lines, one a little bit smaller, another one a little bit bigger. Now you have to use the
tip of your round brush and simply try to add
these little strokes. Start from the top portion. And as you move towards
the bottom potion just increase the size of the
strokes that you are making. No need to hurry at all. Use the tip of your
round brush to create these little strokes and try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. You can also play
with the shape and size of the Pine
Trees and the bushes. You can consider it
as Trees as well. Now to create the
reflection effect of the pine trees
onto the water body, just simply take the same brush and apply these
horizontal strokes. As you move towards
the bottom part, just simply decrease the size of the horizontal strokes
that you're making. In case you find that your
color is a little bit stiff, you can just add some
amount of water in it. So now we are going
to simply paint a house which is going
to be on an island. I have just created
a nice rock body. Simply we are going
to create an outline for the entire house. No
need to hurry at all. Use the tip of your
brush to create the outline and simply fill in some solid black
color inside. These are basically
all the elements that we can practice before starting
with the class projects. Now let us add some nice depth and details using
some viridian color. It's basically a shade of
green so you can observe it. And my color palette,
you're going to use our round brush, size four. And we're simply going to
add some nice depth on to the mountain bodies and the rock bodies to just have
to simply dab your brush. The entire black surface
that we have painted. Now makes sure that we're not covering the entire
black surface. You can just apply it
on the above ocean, creating some nice depth. This particular color
basically gives us a nice effect of grass. You can try to apply it in a
very random and natural way. We are not using the entire
surface of the round brush. I'm just using the
tip of the brush. And as you feel
that the color is getting finished
from your brush, you can take some more color
from the color palette. Make sure that you
have minimum amount of water and more color in
your brush so that you can create a nice rough texture.
No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. So once we have created
some nice depth and details onto the
mountain and rock bodies, let us create some depth in the bushes and Pine
Trees as well. You just have to use the
same color applied on the left or right
portion wherever you find it comfortable
to paint on. Just below the house also, we can add these little
details in the Pine Trees. So I'm just applying the color
on the left-hand portion. You're going to observe
that we are not applying the color on the
entire black surface. We have applied it on
certain portions to enhance the elements and
create some nice depth. You have to make
sure that you do not use excess amount of water that will not give you the right effect and details. Now to enhance the end
dives a lot of the house. I'm just using the round brush, adding some amount of white color and painting
two little windows in it. You can observe that we are done with the entire
practice sheet. And these are all the
important elements that you need to practice before starting
with the class project. I hope that you enjoyed this particular part and now let us move towards
the next part.
4. Painting 1 - Green Mountains: Hey everybody, you
are most welcome to the first painting which
is Green Mountains. Size you can observe
I'm ready with my circular MDF coaster. And all the odd
supplies placed nearby will be starting by
using our simple pencil, creating a simple
horizontal line and between the entire
circular coaster. You can draw this
using your freehand or you can use a ruler to
draw this horizontal line. So now we are going to
paint the background first. So as you can observe,
the horizontal line basically separates the sky
area and the water body. Now, in the color
palette, I have taken some cerulean blue will be taking our flat
brush of size 11. Simply will apply a thin coat
of water onto the coaster. This is basically known as
the wet on wet technique, so that when we apply the color, the brush can move in
a very smooth way. No need to hurry at all. Try to apply the water in a
very slow and steady manner. Makes sure that there
isn't any space left. Now in the color palette,
as you can observe, I've taken some
nice cerulean blue. In the flat brush, we have some nice amount
of cerulean blue. You can observe the
movement of my flat brush. It's a simple
horizontal movement just above the horizon line, and no need to hurry at all. Tried to apply the color
in a very careful manner. You can already observe
the vibrant color. It looks really amazing. Now we are going to create
a nice gradient effect, which is going to be
white on the above ocean. And as we move towards
the bottom portion is going to be solid
cerulean blue that I've simply cleaned my flat brush and just dab it onto the
Tissue paper to make it dry. Take some solid white color and apply it on the envelope ocean. And slowly you can move
towards the bottom part, blending both the
colors together. You can see how beautifully the gradient effect
is being painted. You just have to make
sure that your brush is completely drive and
you blend mode the colors. Just dab it on to the Tissue paper to remove
access amount of water. Now let us paint the
water body below the horizon line so the
steps are absolutely same. You just have to apply
a thin coat of water initially. No need
to hurry at all. Try to apply a thin
coat of water in a careful manner without leaving any space
on the coaster. Once you're done applying a
thin coat of water will be taking some cobalt blue
in the color palette. Always make sure that you take color according to
the requirement. No need to waste it. So now using our flat brush size 11 will be painting
the water body area. So you just have to apply this horizontal stroke in
a very careful manner, just below the horizon line. You can use the tip of the brush to paint
in difficult area. Now, in the entire surface, we are going to apply
the cobalt blue color. No need to hurry at all. You can observe the movement
of my flat brush. It's a simple horizontal
movement and assembly. Make sure that there isn't any
space left on the coastal. As you can observe,
we have painted the end DI water body. Now we are going to create
some depth and details. I'll be taking my
round brush size four and take some solid
white color in it. Now you just have
to simply create these little
horizontal strokes and a combination which will look like waves in the
entire water body. Even water body is a very
natural and organic elements. So there isn't any specific
way of painting the waves. You can create your own
composition as well. Now you're going to observe
that we have applied nice horizontal strokes
using solid white color. Looking in a very good
contrast with the background. I'll be using my
same flat brush, make it completely dry
by dabbing it onto the Tissue paper and just
applied on the water body area. So you can see how beautifully the solid white strokes are
blended with the background. No need to apply a lot
of horizontal strokes. You can just simply blend it by applying some minimal
horizontal strokes. Now to enhance the waves
a little bit more, I'll be just using my same
round brush size four again. And I'll be adding few
more horizontal strokes of solid white color. Now this time we
are going to add some less horizontal strokes. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Use the tip of your
round brush to create these thin strokes. Now will be blending
these strokes that we have painted
right now as well. So these are a little
bit more vibrant than the background
strokes that we painting. Now I'll be taking my
same flat brush again, make it completely dry by dabbing it onto the Tissue paper and blend these strokes again by applying these minimal
horizontal strokes. Now you can observe
how beautiful the entire water body looks and our gradient sky
effect is also ready. Now we'll be painting
some beautiful clouds in the sky area. We'll be taking our
round brush size four, take some solid
white color in it. And we are going to create some nice natural composition
of clouds in the sky area. As you all know, that
clouds also have a very natural and random
shapes in the entire sky. And there isn't any specific
shape or form of the clouds. It does a very natural element. We are using the tip of
the round brush to add these rough texture in the entire cerulean
blue background. We're not going to cover the entire background
with clouds. We are going to paint the
clouds in certain areas. Only. You can
observe that I have created a nice cluster of clouds on the
right-hand portion. And you can blend it a little
bit by using the brush, which is going to have minimum
amount of water in it, makes sure that you do not
have access amount of water in your round brush that will not give you this kind of texture. Incase you're non-black
much confident enough to paint the clouds
directly to the background. You can practice it
on a rough scrape off paper initially, and then you can come
towards your final painting. Now just above the horizon line, we are going to paint
some beautiful Mountains. We are going to use our
round brush of size four. Again, you can observe
and my color palette, I have taken some
solid black color. And you can add a little bit of water to loosen the cholera. By using the tip of the brush, we can create the outline for
the entire mountain body. Now once you're done
with the entire outline, you can fill in solid
black color inside, near the horizon line. Use the tip of your round
brush to paint carefully. Mountains are also going to have a very natural and random shape. It is not at all compulsory
or necessary that you paint it in the exact
same way I have painted. You can create your own shapes
and composition as well. While you are applying
the solid black color, make sure that there
isn't any space left in the entire coaster
that will not look nice. Then my color
palette, I wanted to take some more black color. So just add a little bit of
water to loosen the color up. And we are going to create
a nice reflection effect of the entire mountain body. You just have to create these
little horizontal strokes onto the water body. No need to hurry at
all. Try to apply these horizontal strokes in a very slow and steady manner. And as you move towards
the bottom portion, you can just decrease the size of the strokes
that you are making. This particular step
basically creates a nice reflection of the entire mountain body
onto the water body. Now we'll take some viridian
and the color palette, which is a nice
shade of green to create some nice depth in
the entire mountain body. Will be taking our round
brush off size four, again. Take some amount of water
to loosen the color. Now to make a nice grassy effect and to make the mountains
look a little bit greener, we are going to just use the tip of the round brush and just dab it on the upper portion of the entire black mountain
that we have painted. We are not going to apply the viridian color on the
end dyed black surface. You just have to enhance
the entire element. So we're just going
to apply the color on the topmost portion only. You can absorb that by applying a little bit of viridian
color in the entire mountain, you can just enhance the
entire element altogether. And you can make it
look a little bit more greener and attractive
for the entire painting. Now similarly, we can create
this entire effect on the Mountains that we have painted on the left-hand
portion as well. Again, I'll be telling
you the same thing. No need to apply the color
in the entire mountain body, just applied on the topmost
portion to enhance it. So we are almost done enhancing
the entire mountain body. So this grassy effect basically creates a nice depth and
the entire mountain body, and it looks a little
bit more attractive. Now simply clean your round brush and we are going to take some solid white color in the color palette to
paint a beautiful sun. This is basically a very
easy and simple step. You just have to take
some solid white color. Make a nice circular shape. No need to hurry at
all. Try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. You can also create
the outline first and then you can fill in
solid white color inside. Just try to have a nice
perfect circular shape. Also, you can play with the size of design
if you want to. We are done with the
entire painting. Let me take you a little
bit closer so that you can observe all the
details carefully. I hope that you enjoyed painting this
particular Seascape. Now let us move towards
the next Painting.
5. Painting 2 - Pine Trees: Hey everybody, you are most welcome to the second painting, which is Pine Trees. As you can observe, I'm ready
with my Circular coaster. Now we'll be using
a simple pencil to create a horizon line. And between this line basically separates the sky
area and the water body. Now we'll be using our
flat brush off size 11 and simply apply a thin coat of
water onto the upper portion. This is basically known as a
wet-on-wet technique so that once we take some color in
the brush and apply it again, the brush can move a
little bit smoother. Make sure that there isn't any space left in
the entire coaster. Now will be taking some nice
amount of cerulean blue in the flat brush and simply applied just above
the horizon line. No need to hurry at
all. Try to apply it in these horizontal strokes
that I'm making right now. We are going to create
a nice gradient effect. So we'll be applying
some solid white color on the abortion as well. You can observe that
we have covered the entire sky area
with cerulean blue. Now I'll be taking my
round brush of size six and take some solid
white color in it, applied on the motion
of the entire coaster. Now simply clean the flat
brush in water, david, onto the Tissue paper, make it completely dry so that we can blend both
the colors together. Now just absorbed the
horizontal stroke time starting from the top portion. And I'm moving towards
the bottom area, blending mode the
colors together, white and cerulean blue. And you can already observe
a nice gradient effect. So as you can observe,
the are almost done painting the
entire sky area. Now, let us paint
a nice water body. So again, the steps
are absolutely same. You just have to use
the same flat brush. Apply a thin coat of water just below the horizon
line this time. No need to hurry at
all. Try to apply it in a very slow and steady manner. Make sure that there isn't any space left in
the entire coaster. Now to paint the
entire water body will be taking some cobalt blue. So you're going to observe
in my color palette, I'll add some amount of
water to loosen the cholera. Simply will be making the same horizontal strokes
that we used in the sky area. You can use the tip of
your flat brush to paint a little bit carefully just
below the horizon line. No need to periodontal
try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. Tried to apply a nice cutoff, cobalt blue, and make sure that there isn't
any space left to paint. So as you can observe, that
we are almost done painting the entire water body with
solid cobalt blue color. Now we are going to
create some nice depth and details in the
entire water body. I'll be taking my
round brush size four. You just have to take some
solid white color in it. Now, in a very random way, you have to apply these little
thin horizontal strokes. There isn't any specific
way of doing this. You can paint it in the exact same way I'm
painting right now. Or else you can apply the horizontal strokes in a very random and
natural way as well. Leave little ten
horizontal strokes are acting as waves in the
entire water body. Right now you can observe that the waves are in a very good contrast
with the background, will be using the
same flat brush, make it completely dry
by dabbing it onto the Tissue paper and apply the horizontal strokes again
into the entire water body. You will observe how beautifully the solid white strokes are
blended with the background. No need to hire at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. To enhance the waves, we can use some
solid white color, again using the same
round brush again. But this time we're not going to apply a lot of
horizontal strokes. They are going to
be a little bit less than the first one. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Incase you are not that
much confident enough to paint it directly
to your final coastal. You can practice it on a
rough scrape off people and then you can come
towards your final painting. Now similarly, I'll be using the same dry flat brush and
blend it with the background. As you can observe
via done with the
6. Painting 3 - Dense Forest: Hey everybody, you are most welcome to the third painting, which is a Dense Forest. As you can observe, I'm
ready with my coaster. I'll be using my simple pencil to create a horizontal line. This line basically separates the sky area and the water body. Now simply, I'll be taking
my flat brush of size 11 and we are going to
apply a thin coat of water. So this is basically known
as wet on wet technique, in which we apply our code
of water initially so that the brush with color can move smoothly on
the entire surface. I'll be taking some
cerulean blue, as you can observe
in my color palette. Some nice solid cerulean
blue and the flat brush. And you just have
to apply just above the horizon line to
paint the sky area. No need to hurry at all. Tried to move your brush in a very slow and careful manner. Make sure that there isn't any space left in
the entire coaster. You can observe the
horizontal strokes that I'm making right now. Now we're going to create
a nice gradient effect in the entire sky area. I'll be taking my
round brush of size six and we are going to take some solid white color in it, applied in this random way
on the topmost portion only. Now again, we'll be taking
our flat brush size 11, clean it and water and
make it completely dry by dabbing it onto
the Tissue paper. Start from the above ocean and blend it with these
cerulean blue color. It's a very easy
and simple step. You just have domain
these horizontal strokes using your dry brush. And you can see
the blend between the cerulean blue color
and white together. Now let us paint the
water body as well. Just clean your flat brush, apply a nice thin coat of
water on the bottom portion, just below the horizon line, makes sure that there isn't any space left in
the entire coaster. Now this time we
are going to take some lines cobalt blue, and they are going to
cover the entire surface. As you can observe,
we have taken some nice amount of cobalt
blue and the flat brush. In case you find that there is excess amount of
water and less color, you can just dab your brush to the Tissue paper to make
it a little bit dry. This will also
help you to remove excess amount of water
from your brush. Incase you find
that the saturation of color is a
little bit lighter. You can definitely take some more color from
your color palette. So as you can observe,
that we have covered the entire surface
area just below the horizon line with
some cobalt blue. Now we are going to create some nice depth and details
in the entire water body, which is basically the waves
that we are going to paint. I'll be taking my
round brush of size four and simply take some
solid white color in it. And you just have to randomly apply these little
horizontal strokes. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. There isn't any particular
way of creating these trunks. You can apply it in a very
random and natural way. You can create the
combination and composition of the strokes according to
your convenience as well. So by adding these wide
horizontal strokes, we are trying to
add some nice depth in the entire water body. Once you're done
with the strokes, you just have to take
your flat brush again, dab it onto the Tissue paper
to make it completely dry and apply it on
the entire surface just below the horizon line. And this horizontal movement, you will observe that your solid white strokes get a nice blend with
the entire background. You can observe some depth
in the entire water body. Now we'll be taking some solid black color and we are going to paint some nice Trees
on the above portion. I'll be taking my
round brush size four. You can add some amount of water in the color palette
to loosen the cholera. And we are going to start
by painting the trees on the left portion and we'll slowly move towards
the right area. It's a very simple
and easy step. You just have to use the tip of your round brush to create
these little strokes. So we are basically
creating the outline. First. One is the
outline is done. You have to fill in solid
black color inside. Now near the horizon. Just make sure that you apply these strokes
way carefully. We don't want to move the black color inside
the water body. Now similarly, I'll be
painting another tree, which is going to
be a little bit smaller than the first one. So you're going to
assume that the size of the tree is a
little bit small. So I have created
the entire outline. Now. Similarly,
we'll be creating the outline for the
rest of the trees that we are going to paint
just above the horizon line. This is not at all difficult. You just have to apply these thin strokes using the
tip of your round brush. And you just have to
create the outline. As you can observe,
we have come to a point where the tree
is in the minimum size, creating a nice perspective. Now, again, you can just
increase the size of the trees. As we move towards the
right-hand portion. You can observe that we
are done with the outline. Now we can just simply apply
a nice horizontal stroke. Just above the horizon line. No need to worry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Now we are going to fill in solid black color
inside all the trees. You can observe how beautiful
all the trees are looking, creating a nice contrast
with the entire background. Make sure that there
isn't any space left once you apply this
all in black color. We are almost done painting all the trees just
above the horizon line. Now we're going to create
some nice depth in the entire Seascape by adding some reflection
effect on the water body. So we'll be taking
our round brush. You just have to take some
amount of black color in it and dab your brush to the Tissue paper to
make it completely dry. And you can observe the way I'm making these strokes just below the trees that we have painted which are coming
onto the water body. You can play with the size of the reflection effect according
to the size of the tree. Try to have more
reflection effect below the bigotry and less
reflection event below are smaller tree. And as you move towards
the bottom portion, you can just simply
decrease the size of the horizontal strokes that
you are making right now. Now we are going to create some nice leaves in the water body, which can be lotus
leaves as well. So you just have to take some solid black color in
your round brush again. And you just have to
create these oval shapes. No need to worry
about the size and the composition of the leaves that I'm painting right now. It's a very natural
and random format, so you can create
your own composition of the leaves as well. I have created a nice
cluster of leaves on the bottom portion and I'm
just trying to create it more. On the right-hand side. You can decide the position according to your
convenience as well. You just have to make
these oval shapes having variation in sizes. We are almost done painting
the leaves in the water body. On the top portion,
I'm trying to create some little
leaves as well so you can use the
tip of your brush to paint in small abortion. Now will be just cleaning
our round brush, size four. And we are going to add some beautiful details in the trees and the leaves
that we have painted. The color palette you can
observe we have some viridian and just take some good amount
of color in your brush, david, onto the Tissue paper to remove axis amount of water. Now we are going to use the
tip of the brush to apply it onto the trees to make the trees look a little bit more
dense and in-depth. I'm just trying to use the tip of the brush and we're
just applying the color on the right-hand portion
of all the trees right now. And as they move towards the right-hand portion will simply apply the color
on the left-hand side. You just have to simply
tap your brush and no need to cover the entire
surface of the tree, just applied in some portion. Only. Now we'll be adding
the viridian color on the left-hand portion of the drills that we
have painted right side. This is how we have
created some nice depth in the entire Trees
that we have painted. This basically makes the
entire Seascape look a little bit more aesthetic
and attractive. Incase you find this
particular step a little bit difficult to paint directly
to your final coaster. Once you can do is you
can practice it on a rough scrape off
people initially, and then you can come
towards your final painting. I'll be adding the same color on the leaves that we have painted on the water body as well. You can just simply tap the brush in certain
areas of the leaves. Now, we are going to clean the round brush and
we are going to take some solid white color
in the color palette to paint some beautiful
clouds in this guy area. I'm going to use my
round brush and simply apply these horizontal strokes and a very rough and random way. So clouds generally have a very natural shape
and composition. So there isn't any specific
way of painting them. You can create your
own shapes and sizes for the clouds that
we are painting right now. Just try to take some
solid white color, apply the horizontal strokes
in this random manner. Make sure that there isn't
any axis amount of water in your brush that will not
give you this nice texture. You can use the tip of the brush to create
thinner strokes. You can observe how
beautiful divide clouds looks with the gradient
background that we have painted. They can also add few more
clouds on the top portion. We are almost done
painting the clouds. Now let us take some
more solid white color in the color palette
and let us paint a nice sun just above the smaller tree that we have painted above the horizon line. You just have to take
some good amount of solid white color and try
to paint a circular shape. You can create the outline first and then fill in solid
white color as well. You can play with the
size of the sun as well. So we are done with
the entire Seascape. Let me take you a
little bit closer so that you're going to absorb
all the details carefully. Ihome that you enjoyed painting
this particular Seascape. Now let us move towards
the next Painting.
7. Painting 4 - The Waterfall: Hey everybody, you are most welcome to the fourth painting, which is the waterfall. So as you can observe
them, I'm ready with my circular co-star. I'll be using a simple pencil to create a horizontal line. So this line
basically sub-frames the sky area and the water body. Now we're going to take
a flat brush of size 11. And simply we are going to apply a thin coat of water
on the above portion. This is basically known as
a wet on wet technique so that when we apply the
color using the same brush, the brush can move a little bit smoother on the entire surface. Now, in the color palette, we're going to take some
nice several in blue. And just take some good
amount of color in your brush and apply it just
above the horizon line. In case you find that there is excess amount of
water in your brush, you can simply dab it onto the tissue paper to remove
excess amount of water. Make sure that you
apply the color on the entire surface carefully and there isn't any space left. You can observe the
horizontal movement of the flat brush that
I'm making right now. Morning to periodontal
and try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. Does be very much careful
near the horizon line. You can use the tip of your
flat brush to paint there. I'll be taking my round
brush of size six, take some solid
white color in it and apply it on the
top most portion. Now again, take your
flat brush, size 11, damage to the tissue paper, make it completely
clean and dry. Now to create a nice
gradient effect, we are going to blend
both the colors together. Start applying the
horizontal strokes from the top portion and slowly move towards
the bottom band Blending Mode the
colors together. You're going to observe a
beautiful gradient effect of white and blue together. Now let us paint the water
body as when I'll be applying a nice coat of water on the bottom
portion as well. Make sure that there
isn't any space left in-between the coaster. No need to hurry at all. Tried to apply the water
in a very careful manner. Now in the color
palette, I'll be taking some nice amount of cobalt blue. And we are going to cover the entire surface
of the Goldstone, just below the horizon line. In case you find that there is excess amount of
water in your brush, you can just dab it on to the tissue paper to remove
access amount of photo. Now you can observe
that we have created a nice solid cobalt
blue background for the entire water body. Made sure that there is no space left on the
entire Goldstone. Now let us add some nice depth
on the entire water body. So we are willing to
take our round brush off size for clean it in water, and take some solid
white color in it. And we're simply going to
apply these horizontal strokes randomly on the entire
cobalt blue background. So there isn't any specific way of creating these
horizontal strokes. You can just apply it in a
very random and natural way. These wide horizontal
strokes are basically acting as waves on the
underwater body area. Now once we have applied
the white strokes, you just have to take
your flat brush again, make it completely
dry by dabbing it to the tissue paper and apply the horizontal strokes again
onto the entire surface. And you will observe
the blend between the white and cobalt
blue color together. Now similarly, we'll be painting some beautiful clouds
in the sky area. Just take your round
brush of size four. Take some nice solid
white color in it, and apply these little
horizontal strokes. Make sure that there is no excess amount of
water in your brush. So just simply dab your brush to the tissue paper to
remove excess amount of water that you can get this nice rough
texture for the clouds. So as you all know
that clouds also have a very natural
and organic shape. There isn't any specific
way to paint them. You can also create
your own composition and shapes for the clouds
in the sky area as well. Just make sure that you mean
this nice bit of texture. And as you move
towards the edges, you can just use the tip of your brush to create
pointed strokes. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. In case you are not that
much confident enough to paint the clouds directly
to your final painting. You can practice it on a dark
strip of paper initially. And then you can come
towards your final painting. Let's go help you to develop
some more confidence. And the chances of making
mistakes will be very less. So as you can observe, that we have painted all
the clouds and it looks really amazing and aesthetic with the background
that we have created. You can also create your own shapes and composition
for the clouds as well. It is not at all necessary to pain the same way
I have painting. Now I'll be taking my
round brush of size four. Again. We have cleaned it up and we have taken some solid
black color in it. So now I have simply drawn two vertical lines in
the middle portion, which are getting in the sky
area and water body both. To paint thinner strokes, you'll have to use the
tip of your round brush. Now we are creating
the outline for the mountains which
are going to be on both the sides of the waterfall space that
we have left in between. So now you can observe that after creating the outline for the entire mountain body
on the right-hand portion, I'm just filling in
solid black color. So make sure that you do not
leave any space in between. And try to apply the color in very slow and steady manner. Now similarly, we are going to paint another mountain body, which is going to be on
the left-hand portion. Before that, on
the bottom portion of the mountain that we
have painted right now, we can create these
outlets of the mountains, making it look as if these are rock bodies
on the bottom portion. You just have to
create the outline and filling solid black color. The mountains will look a
little bit more in depth. Now we are going to paint
the other mountain body, which is going to be on
the left-hand portion. So similarly, I'll be
creating the outline using the tip of the round rash. Join it with the vertical line
that we painted initially. Similarly on the
bottom portion also, we are going to use the
tip of the round brush. Now in case you
find that the color has finished from your brush, you can take some more color
from the color palette and then gave that you will find your brush a little bit stiff. You can add a little
bit of water in it, but make sure that there isn't access amount of water
in your round brush. Now once you are done
with the outline, we are going to fill
solid black color on the inside portion. No need to try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. Make sure that there
is no space left and in-between while you are
applying solid black color. Now similarly, the way we
have added the rock bodies on the bottom portion of the
right-hand side mountains. We're going to add them on the left-hand side
Mountain as well. You're going to observe this
time we're going to have a nice composition of the rock bodies on
the bottom portion. So I'm trying to add them
on the center area as well. You can also observe the
way I'm using the tip of my round brush to
paint in areas. While we're painting
on a smaller area. No need to hurry. You just
have to take your time. Now let us enhance
the waterfall and the mountain and drug bodies
that we have painted. Just simply take some
solid white color in early telling rush
of faithful and just applied on the
vertical portion which is left in
between the mountains. And similarly, we
are going to apply these thin horizontal
strokes near the mountain body and
the bodies as well. You just have to apply these strokes on
the bottom portion. Then hands all the
elements together. You can use the tip of your brush to paint
thinner strokes. So we're going to
add some amount of water and solid white color
in the color palette. And we're going
to paint the sun. So you just have to draw
our simple circular shape. You can create an outline false, and then filling solid
white color as well. You can play with the
size of the sun as well. You can observe that we
have painted a nice sun. Now simply clean your
round brush off sizable. And we're going to take
some viridian color in it, which is a nice shade of green, to create some nice depth and
details into the mountains. Just take some amount of
color and dab your brush to the tissue paper so that excess amount of water
will be removed. Now to make the mountains
look a little bit greener and create a
nice grassy effect. Just using the tip of
the round brush and adding this color on the topmost portion
of the mountain only. So you just have to simply tap your brush onto
the black surface. They are not going to cover
the entire blacks office. Also, no need to hurry at all. Tried to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Try to use the tip of
the brush to create this nice texture. And gates. You're not that much
confident enough to painted directly to
your final goal stuff, what you can do is
you can practice it on a rough scrape off
people initially, and then you can come
towards your final painting. This will definitely
increase your confidence and it will minimize the
chances of making mistakes. Now the way we have
added the texture, or I can say the green effect
on the left-hand mountain. Similarly, we are
going to add them on the right-hand side
Mountain as well. We can also add this effect on the bottom portion
a little bit. I'm just trying to differentiate in-between the rug bodies
and the mountains. You can already absorbed the beautiful contrast
between the mountains, rock bodies and the background
that we have painted. Now similarly, we'll be
adding this color on the rock bodies which are in-between the
water body as well. No need to apply a lot of color. You just have to apply it on
the topmost portion only. So this is how we can
make the entire cityscape look a little bit more
aesthetic and creative. Let me take you a little
bit closer so that you can observe all
the details carefully. I hope that you enjoyed painting this particular seascape and
got to learn something new. Now let us move towards
the next painting.
8. Painting 5 - Island House: Hey everybody, you are most welcome to the fifth painting, which is an Island House. So as you can
observe, I'm reading with my Circular coaster, I'll be using a simple pencil to create a horizontal line, which is basically the horizon separating the sky area
and the water body. I'll be using my flat
brush of size 11. And we are going to
apply a thin coat of water on the above Ocean. Make sure that there isn't any space left on
the entire coaster. So this is basically known as
the wet-on-wet technique in which we apply ten
Codec water initially. Then the brush can move
smoothly on the entire surface. Now using the same flat
brush off size 11, I have taken some cerulean blue in it from the color palette, and you just have to apply it on the entire surface area just
above the horizon line. You can observe the
movement of my flat brush. It's a simple
horizontal movement. No need to worry at
all. Try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. Make sure that there
is no space left. Now using a round
brush off size six, take some solid white color and applied on the above Ocean. Now using the same flat brush
and just clean it in water, lipid envelope Tissue paper, make it completely dry
and simply start from the above potion and move
towards the bottom part slowly, creating these simple
horizontal stroke, the blending mode,
the colors together. No need to hurry at all. Tried to blend both the colors in a very slow and
steady manner. So you can already observe a beautiful gradient effect
in the entire sky area. Now similarly, we
are going to paint the water body which is going to be below the horizon line. Simply clean your brush, which is a flat brush, size 11. And again, we are going
to apply a thin coat of water on the bottom
portion as well. Make sure that you
apply the water on the entire surface and no spaces left near
the horizon line. Be a little bit careful. Use
the tip of your flat brush. Now we are going to take some cobalt blue from
the color palette. Try to add some amount of water incase you find the color
a little bit stiff. Simply apply the color just
below the horizon line. Use the tip of your
plant brush so that you can get a
nice horizontal line. Now we are going to cover the
entire surface with cobalt blue incase you find that you Brushes having access
amount of water. Simply dab it on to the Tissue paper that you can remove excess
amount of water from it. You can observe that it is a simple horizontal movement of the brush and we have covered the entire surface
with cobalt blue. No need to create all
try to paint it in a very slow and steady manner so that no area is
left for Painting. You can observe that we are done painting the
background color. Now to make the water body look a little bit
more aesthetic, we are going to create some
nice depth and details. So we are going to add
some beautiful waves that'll be digging my
round brush, size four. And we are going to take some
solid white color in it. Now assembly, we
are going to apply these little horizontal
strokes in the water body, which is having
cobalt blue in it. That is no specific way of creating these
horizontal strokes. You can create them in a very
random and rough manner. You can have your own
composition as well. As you can observe.
I'm just adding these solid white
strokes and random way. It isn't a combination
of two to three strokes. It is absolutely fine. You can have more
strokes as when. You can already observe that these wide strokes are in a very good contrast
with the background. Now once we have applied
the horizontal strokes, we are going to take
these same flat brush off size 11, clean it and water, dab it on Tissue paper to
remove access amount of water and applied on the
entire surface of water body. You can observe that
the white strokes get a nice blend with the
cobalt blue background. Make sure that you're flat
brush is completely dry. Now using the round
brush of size four, we are going to paint
some beautiful clouds in the sky area. So I'm going to take some solid white color in the color palette and dab it onto the Tissue paper to the
axis amount of water. As you all know that
clouds generally have a very organic and
natural shapes. So there isn't any specific
way of painting them. So you just have to
simply use the tip of your round brush and create these little horizontal
strokes in the sky area. Make sure that there isn't
access amount of water in your round brush because then you won't get
this rough texture. And it is not necessary
for you to paint it in the exact same way
I'm painting right now. You can create your
own composition of the clouds as well. You can decide the
position you can play with the shape and
sizes as well. You can observe that slowly
from the left-hand portion, I'm moving towards
the right-hand side. By decreasing the size of these strokes I'm
making right now. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. You can use the tip
of your round brush on the edges to create
tenant strokes. Also incase you're not that
much confident enough to paint the clouds directly
to your sky area. You can practice them on a raft staple of
paper initially. And then you can come
towards your final painting. Now using the same round
brush of size four, I'll be taking some solid black color in the
color palette. You can add some amount of
water to loosen the cholera Now we are going to
paint the first Island, which is just above
the horizon line. You can create the outline initially using the
tip of your brush. And then you can fill in
solid black color inside. Near the horizon line. Be a little bit careful. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Use the tip of your brush to
paint and difficult areas. You can observe that we have
painted a nice Island area. Now similarly, we are going
to add one more. Now. Similarly we are going to
add some more rock bodies. Incase. You find that the color is getting finished
from your brush. You can take some more color
from the color palette. I've added one more round body
on the left-hand portion. Now let us add some more rug
bodies in the water area. You can use the tip of
the brush to create a nice outline and then you can fill in
solid black color. Now the point is that
even islands and rock bodies are
natural and organic. You can play with the
shapes and you can also create your own composition
for the island as well. You can add some nice
reflection effect of the entire route body into the water body as
well by creating these little horizontal strokes just below the island
that we have painted. You can observe that I'm just adding these little
horizontal strokes. And as I move towards
the bottom portion, I just simply decrease the size of the strokes
that I'm making. We are almost done painting the rock bodies and the Island. Now we are going to
add a nice house, the loud just above the forest
island that we painted. So be a little bit careful
while painting this, you have to use the tip of the brush and just take some
solid black color in it. And we are going to
start by painting the roof, slanted
roof basically. You just have to
create the outline initially to get the
exact shape of the house. Now once we're done
with the roof, I'll be painting the walls. So you just have to apply
a small vertical stroke. And you can just apply solid black color on
the inner portion. No need to periodontal
try to paint it in a very slow
and steady manner. We do not want to
spoil the background. You're going to
observe how beautiful the end died House
allowed looks. No need to worry at all incase you are not that much confident enough to paint the house directly to your final painting. You can definitely
practice it on a rough staple of
people initially. And then you can come
towards your final painting. This will definitely minimize the chances of making mistakes and there'll be
more confident to paint it on the coaster. So once we are done
within died House, I'm going to paint a nice tree just on the
right-hand portion. You just have to apply these talks and create the
outline for the entire tree. Use the tip of your
round brush to create these little strokes
on the outer portion, which gives us a
nice bushy look. And you can fill in solid black color on the
inner portion. Now similarly, we'll be adding a nice smaller bush on the left-hand portion
of the entire house. I'll be adding one more bush on the wrong body that we have painted on the bottom portion. Make sure that there
is no space left and in-between the solid black
color that we have applied. So similarly, I'll be using the tip of my round
brush to create these little strokes and paint a nice bush on the wrong body that we have
on the bottom portion. Now to enhance the
entire painting and make it look a little
bit more aesthetic, will be taking some
viridian color. You can observe in
the color palette, I have Dickinson viridian, and my round brush, size four. Dab your brush to the
Tissue paper to make it a little bit dry and remove
excess amount of water. And there'll be simply
enhancing the Island, which is on the topmost portion, just above the horizon line. You just have to
tap your brush on the upper portion of the
entire black Island. No need to apply the viridian
color on the entire island. We are just trying to enhance the topmost portion to make it look a little bit
grassy and greener. So no need to hurry at all and use the tip of the
round brush to apply this kind of texture
to the entire rock bodies. You're going to absorb
that. I'm trying to add this grassy effect on the rock body in the
bottom portion as well. This is how we
enhance the Island and the rock bodies by
creating some depth, adding the viridian color. This is how the
entire painting look. A little bit more aesthetic. So now I'll be adding
some more depth to the tree that we have painted
just beside the house. To just have to apply
these rough texture by tapping your round brush on the left-hand portion
of the entire tree. So now I'll be cleaning
my round brush and we'll be taking some
solid white color in it. Try to add some amount of
water to loosen the cholera and simply paint small
rectangular shapes. These are basically
two rectangular shapes replicating windows
of the house. No need to hurry at all. Try to paint it in a very
slow and steady manner. Now using the same round brush, we'll be painting a beautiful
sun in the sky area. You just have to paint
also color share. You can paint an
outline initially and then fill in solid
black color as well. You can also play with the
size of the sun as well. We are almost done with
the entire painting. We can just simply
increase the size of the windows also
that we have painted. To just have to use the tip of your brush to paint it
in a very minute level. Now to enhance some
waves and increase the contrast between the
mountain bodies and Island, we are just adding these
horizontal strokes using solid white color just below the route bodies that
we have painted. No need to hurry at all. Just use the tip of your
round brush and simply create these horizontal strokes just below the wrong bodies. Now in case you
find that there is excess amount of water
in your round brush, you can simply dab your brush to the Tissue paper to remove
access amount of water so that you can get
a nice rough texture of the horizontal strokes that
we are painting right now. Similarly, I'll be adding
these horizontal strokes just below the wrong body that is on the bottom
portion as well. You can observe the contrast between the cobalt
blue background that we painted on the horizontal strokes that
we are applying right now. Incase, you're not that much
confident enough to paint the horizontal stokes directly
to your final painting. You can practice them on a
raft scrap of paper initially, and then you can come
towards your final painting. We are done with the
entire painting. Let me take you a little
bit closer so that you can observe all
the details carefully. This is the last coaster
that we have painted. I hope that you enjoyed painting this particular seascape and
got to learn something new. Now let us move
towards the next part.
9. Class Conclusion: When I started
exploring wash colors, one thing that I
liked about it in the most is the MAC finish. It gives when it dries up. When they combine
vibrant colors together, it creates a nice sense
of peace and relaxation. While I was creating
this entire class, I made N number of mistakes. But the process was
so peaceful and satisfying that I enjoy
the entire process. Painting landscapes
and Seascapes can help you a lot develop
your artistic skills. As that are a lot of elements
involved by painting them. As an artist, I always
suggest my students to maintain an Art Journal and
practice on a regular basis. This will help you
to keep a record of your artwork and enhance
your artistic skills. Painting on different
surfaces rather than a paper, is also a very new experience. I'm very happy to
share this class, but all of you incase you have any questions or doubts
related to the class. Feel free to ask them into the discussion section at would be really
great if you leave a review for the entire
class as it encourages me to come up with even more
creative classes like this. And my class can reach many
more students like you. I hope that you enjoyed this particular class and got to learn something
new and creative. I'll be really
excited to see all of your class projects
into the project gallery. Thank you so much for
joining the class. Keep practicing
and happy painting
