1. Introduction: Hello, and welcome to this class. My name is Heidi. And in this class, I am going to teach you how to crochet a seamless granny square. This beautiful granny square you can use to make different and beautiful projects, like, for example, cushions, blankets, garments, and anything you want to try to make with this. You can also make bags for yourself. So offer anyone you want to make it. I'm going to teach you from the beginning, starting by choosing your jar, then learning all the technique you need like magic circle, a single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, and we are going to be having so much fun. So I hope you join me for this class. Remember, you can follow me here in Ski check so you don't miss any updates or any new class that I share here on the community. It is always so beautiful to read your comments or your reviews of the class. Please take in consideration to leave a review after you take the class. And, of course, to upload your class project. So let's start. I will see you in the next video. All right. 2. The Supplies: These are the supplies that we are going to be using. J, any type of jar you have at hand, you can use. I recommend you use 100% cotton. This is IDK one, and it is 25 grams, giving me 57.5 meters and the hook recommended here is the number four or 4 millimeters hook. You will also need a hook and I am using the recommended one on the label of my jar, which is the four millimeter hook. You also need a scissors to cut your jar. And a stitch marker to keep your work safe from unraveling. For the web blocking technique, you will need a water bottle spray, and a hand towel, clean one. It may be that you need two towels depending on the size of the towel. I will see you in the next video. 3. Foundation: Magic circle: Let's make a magic circle. This will be our foundation to work out our granny stitch, square. I have my hook and I have my yarn. I will take a piece of my yarn, and I will wrap it around my three fingers like this. And then I will make an X, and then I will turn my hand, and I will pinch the jar with my pinky finger like this. Now I have two pieces of jar and an X on the back. Now I will grab my hook and I will place the hook below the first strand of jar and I will grab the second strand of jar and pass it through the first one and make a twist. Then I will take the jar, the second one and pass it through the loop on my hook. This is the magic circle. Let's do it again. I will grab some jar wrap around my three fingers like this, and then I will make an X. Then I will tour my hand. Now I have two estranopgan, and I will pinch the second one with my pink finger. I have two estranogia and I have this X here. I will grab my hook and I will pass it under the first estranojan, grab the second one, pass it through the first one, make a twist, and then I will grab the second jar and pass it through the loop in my hook. And our magic circle is completed. Now we can start working on next step. 4. Technique: Double Crochet DC: Two double crotches. Jan over, insert the hook into the magic circle. Grab the jar. Now you have three loops on your hook. Grab the jar, pass it through the first loop, and grab the jar and pass it to the second to loops. Jan over, insert the hook into the magic circle. Grab the jar. Now you have three loops on your hook. Grab the jar, pass it through the first loop, and grab the jar and pass it to the second to loops. 5. Round 1: Corners of Granny Square : Magic circle is done, and now we need to change too. We grab the jar and pass it through the loop. And again, we grab the jar and pass it through the loop. Now we have to change. This will count as Of double crochet. Let's make a double crochet jar over pass the hook into the magic circle, grab the jar. Now you have three loops on your hook, grab the jar and pass it through the first two loops, and then through the second two loops. Jan over, insert the hook into the magic circle, grab the jar. Now you have three loops on your hook. Grab the jar, pass it through the first loop, and grab the jar and pass it to the second two loops. And we have three double cloche. Now chain two. Grab the jar, pass it through the loop, grab the jar, pass it through the loop. And we are making another three double crochet because we are forming our corners for the center of the Granny square. This is the first one. Let's do the rest of the double crochet yarn over, insert the hook into the magic circle, grab the jar and pass it to the first two loops, and then to the second t loops. Again, we do another double crochet, and then we complete our second cluster of three double crochets and two chains. Now we need to change two and this will be our second corner, one and two, and then we make another three set of double crochet. Like this, this is the first one, the second one, and the third one. This is our third corner of our gran squared, chain two, and then we make another cluster of three double crochets. Like this. This is the first obligroche, the second double roche, and the third groche then we change two. As you can see, we have four cluster of three double crochet, one and two or two chain, then we need to slip stitch to join the two sides of our magic circle. Like this, insert the hook into the top of the first Dublroch you've made and then chain two, like this. And now pull to close the middle of the magic circle, pull the leftover jar tight so you have something like this. This little granny square. Here. We made our first cluster with three double crochet, the chain two, then three crosses and then chain two, three do crochet, chain two, three double crochet, chain two, and join. And we are going to be increasing this to have a bigger Granny square. I want to show you what we are doing so you don't get lost in the making of your granny square. We have done the center that looks like this or clusters, and I want to show you a finish granny square I made so you can have an idea on what we are doing here. We just made the center of the Granny square. So from here on, we are going to be increasing Gran square becomes bigger and you can increase as much as you want. I will show you how to increase to a certain size, but you can then continue increasing the same way we are going to be learning on the class. For this, we just increase on the corners now the second row, we are going to be increasing in the corners in the center in the center of each corner, and then this will be growing as we crochet or way to the bigger rows. Always keep in mind or corners are always two cluster of three double crochets separated by chain two. This will give us this little space here like this. I will explain you step by step, so don't get overwhelmed by now. I just wanted to show you how we are going to be working. Then we are going to making a border so your grand squares are flat and beautiful and more stable. I will see you in the next video. 6. Round 2: Single Crochet, Corners Increases: Okay, now we are going to start the round two to construct our gran squares. Let's grab our hook, insert into the loop on the thing, and we need to place single crochet so we move or hook to the center of the corner. And we do a single crochet lettuce. Insert the hook into the top of the double crochet below. Grab the jar, pass it through the two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook grab the jar and pass it through the two loops. This is a single crochet. Let's do it again. Insert the hook. Into the top of the Du crochet below, grab the yarn, pass it through the two loops. Now you have two loops on your hook, grab the yarn and pass it through the two loops. The second single crochet. Let's make another one in the space chain two of our corner. And we do the same. Pass the hook into the space, grab the jar, and then grab the jar and pass it through the tulips. Now we need to chain three to four or fierce double crochet. And we are constructing the corner. This is one double crochet and now we need to place two more. Jar over, insert the hook into the space of the corner. Grab the yard, pass it through the space. Now you have s three loops on your hook, grab the yard, pass it through the first two loops, and pass it to the second tulops. This is the second double crochet. Do it again. And now we completed the cluster of three double crochet to form or corner. Now we need to place two change. And in the same space, we are placing another cluster of three double crochets. This is the fimwor. J over, insert the hook into the space, grab the yam, pass it through the first tu loops, and grab the jar and pass it to the second tips. Again, another double crochet, and we need one more. Into the same space. So we have completed the fierce corner, and this is how this look. Now we will skip the three double crochets below and we go directly into the space here, and we place a double crochet. This is one. This is two, and we need one more. This is the third double crochet. Have a little bit more of chance, so we have space. Then we change two, and we place three crochets in the same space. So we are increasing by making corners with two cluster of three double crochets. This is how it is looking. We have the half done. This is our first corner, and this is the second corner. Now we need to work another here and another here that complete the four corners, and we do the same. One double crochet we need Jan. So make sure your Jan is easy to work with. Then we place the second double crochet and we place a third double crochet, and then we change two, one and two, two place another cluster with three double crochets. One, two, and three. Okay. Now we place another cluster corner in the next space. One, Man got fiddle here. I correcting it. This is the first double crochet, the second double crochet. And the third double groche Chain two and place three closes more in the same space, change to space. One, two, entry. Now we need a slip stitch to join or two sides or or or granny squares which one, two, three, and then we place the slip stitch in the top of the first double crochet we made, inserting our hook in onto the top of the stitch. Like this. If it's a little bit too tight, then work it out with a hook. And then we grab the jar and pass it through the loop. Now I will show you again. So we place the slip stitch on the top, one, two, three, on the top of our first double crochet we made. Then pass the jam through the loop in your hook. And now you have join your gran squares. And as you can see, we have here new spaces between the two corners. And in the next round, we are going to be working on them as well. I will explain to you how to do it. So I will see you in the next video to continue our beautiful work. 7. Round 3: 3DC, CH 2, 3DC - 3DC -Pattern Repeat : To start the round tree, we will do the same. We will do three single crochet, so we move or hook to the space chain to space. This is the first single crochet. The second single crochet. And the third double crochet, we do it in the chain space where our corners need to be crochet. Then we chain tree to form our first double crochet. And then we place two double crochets to complete the first three double crochet cluster, which will help us to make or corner and the third double crochet. I'm adding the two double crochets. And then we have three double crochets. Now we change two, one and two, and then we place three double crochets in the same space. To make or corner, which consists on two clusters of three Dub roches separated by two chain. And this is the double crochet. Now, we have increased our grand square, and now we have one space in the middle, and we need to place here three double crochets deduct from the corner like this. This is the first double crochet, the second double crochet and the Tule groche. And this is our cluster. Like this, the corner N or fierce cluster of three double crochets. Now we need to make the next corner and we proceed as we have been done. Replace a double crochet direct in the center or in the space to change then we place a second double crochet in the same space, and then we place a third double crochet in the same space to make our fierce cluster from the corners. Then we change two, and we place three double crochets in the same space. One, two, and three double crochet. Now we have completed our second corner. This is how we have done, the first corner and then our cluster with three double crouches and the second corner. Now we need to work in the following spaces. So we have our increases in this round. Let me unravel my jar so I can work easily. And now we place direct from the corner. In the center, we place three double crochets to make or cluster. Two, and three. And this is or closer of crochet. Now we need to work on our next corner. And we place three crochets, one, two, and three, and then we change two we change two and we place three more double crochets in the same space to make or corner. Always make sure you count your stitches so you don't make any mistake because your gran square will not be so flexible and your work will not be flat enough. By now, we have done three corners and two clusters of three crochet. Now we need to work another three crochet cluster, placing three double crochets in the next space. 12 and three. Now we need to work the corner number four. As you can see here, we need to place our clusters in the corner space. One grache two double crochets and three roches. Then we change two, one and two, and then we place three more double crochets in the same space to form or a corner of our granny squared. One, two, and three. Now, this is what we have done. Until now, now we need to place another cluster like this. We have made all the corners and we have left one cluster of three double crashes. One. Two and three. And with this, we have completed the whole round of our granny squares. Now we need to slip stitch, so we join two sides of the granny squares. And you can trim one, two, three, and you place insert your hook in the top of the chain or the stitch and then you grab the jar and pass it through the loop. And you have join Ju granny square. Now in the next round, we need to work on all the spaces we have created now. We have the corner. We have one space where we need to place three double crochet, then we have another space where we need to place three double crochet, and then the corners. And that will be our pattern repeat on the next round, and I will explain to you step by step. I will see you in the next video. 8. Round 4: 3DC, CH 2, 3DC - 3DC, 3DC -Pattern Repeat : To start the round four, let's take a look at what we have done. We have now a corner. We need to place here the clusters, and then we have two spaces more where we need to place a cluster of three crochet, and then the corner, and then again, a cluster of three, a cluster of three, the corner, and then again, cluster of three. Double crochet and cluster of three double crochet, then the corner, the fourth corner, and then to finish, we have two spaces where we need to place three double crochets. And then a slip stitch, and we have make or gran square bigger. To start, we need to place the three single crochets as we have been doing, inserting the hook in the loops and then grabbing the jar and passing it through the two loops on the hook. The second single crochet and the third double crochet, we make it in the corner space. Then we need to chain three to form our first double crochet, and then we place the two double crochet to complete the first cluster, which will make the corner one and two double crochet. Then now we have three double crochets, and then we change one and two, and now we place three double crochet more in the same space. One, two, entry. We have made the corner, as you can see. Let me pull a little bit of jar so I can work easily and show you clearly what you need to do next. Make the same and remember to count your stitches so you don't misplace stitches. Now we need to place a cluster in this space which make one grache a second ****** and a double crochet. This is a cluster of three double crochet. In the next space, we do the same. We place three double crochet in the same space, as you can see here in this space, and then we need to work again the corner. 31 two, and three. Now we need to work the corner again. So we place three double crochet, one, two, and three. And now we change two, and we place three double clochs in the same space. And these make our corner. Two, and three doubles. So we have work or second corner. Now we have the two spaces, and we need to place the clusters of Dubrochs here and here as we did before. So one double crochet two double crochet and three double crochet. This is the first cluster in the first space. And now we do the same in the next space. One double crochet, two double crochet, and three double Groch. By now, we have work one corner, two clusters, one corner, two clusters, and now we need to work the third corner. Let me pull a little bit more of jar. It is getting used because Granny square is growing. So now we need to work the corner. Three crochets, one, two entry, then we chain two and place three double croches in the same space, one, two, entry. And now we have or third corner. We need to now place clusters to reach the next corner. Three double crochet here. One, two, and three fis cluster in this space. And in the next space, we place three double crochets again, one, two, and three. And now we can work or corner. Here, you can see what we have done. Let me pull a little bit more of Jan so we can work easily. And we place three double crochets one two entry. Then we change two. One, two, and then we place three double crochet. One, two, entry. And then we have completed four corner. Now we have the two spaces where we need to place three double crochets to make the clusters. One, two, and three. And then we place a crosser in the next space. One, little bit of yard, two, and tree. So with this, we have completed the whole round, and now we can slip stitch to join or to pay pieces of sides of Grand square in the top of the fierce double roche with the chain tree. And this is how it is looking by now. I will see you in the next video. 9. Yarn Size Comparison: I want to show you quickly the difference on the size of the jar that you use. I have the two examples here. I have the same amount of rounds, but you can see this one is bigger than the blue one. The pink one or the rose one is bigger than the blue one that I am making with you during the class. So taking consideration that the size of Georgian will make a difference in the number of rounds that you need to make to complete your running squares. Okay? So I will see you in the next video. 10. Round 5: 3DC, CH 2, 3DC - 3DC, 3DC, 3DC -Pattern Repeat : For the round five, we need to start as we have been doing, and I will explain to you what we are doing now. We have to make a corner, then we have three spaces now because Granny square is growing. Then we have a corner, then we have three space more than the corner, then three spaces, more than the corner and three last spaces. So we are growing or Danny squares. We'll start with a single crochet, three single crochets in the next three stitches. This is one to and three. And then we chain three to form the first double crochet of the round, and then we place two double crochets to complete the first cluster of three double crochets to build or crochet or corner. We have to make a chain two and then place three double crochets in the same space. And with this, we form our corner. One, two, and three. Now, we place the first cluster of three double crochets in the next space. One double crochet, two double crochet. Three double roches. And now we need to do the same in the next two spaces. I will pull a little bit of jar so I can work easily. Here and here, we need to place the three clusters of three double Grochs 12, and three. And now in the next space, three double crochets again. One, two, and three. And now we need to work the corner. We have made one corner and three clusters of three double crochets. For the corners, we place one double crochet. One double crochet one double crochet. So now we have three double crochets, and then we chain two, and then we place three double crochets in the same space. Two, entry. Again, we need to place three clusters of three double crochet in the next three spaces. Chub crochet and one ******, we have three double Crochet and the third space, and then we go to the next space and we place three double crochet, one, two, enter. And now we go to the next space and we place another cluster, one but two entry. This make or third cluster. This is what we have done until now, all of this, now we work the corner, placing three double crochets, one, two, and three, then chaining two, one and two, and then placing three more double crochets in the same space. Remember to count all your stitches. So you have the amount of stitches that you need. So you grand squares, build cohesive and you don't have any disparity on the size. This is what we have done until now, and now we need to place three crochets in the next three spaces. Three clusters. One, two, three, first cluster in the first space. Then we go to the next space and we place three DegrchsOT ent. And then in the next space, we place three double crochets. Again, one, two, and three. And then we go to the corner again. This is how it is looking. By now. We are going to be working on the last corner and then the last three clusters. This is a infinite pattern. If you repeat this ongoing, you can make even a blanket with this pattern. One double crochet, two double crochet, and three double crochet. First cluster of corner, then chain two, and then place three crochets in the same space to form the corner. And now we have the three spaces left where we need to place the three double crochet cluster in each one. 12 entry, and then slip stitch to join the two sides of our granny squared. So the second double crochet and then we go to the second space and we place three double grochet and three, and then we go to the last space and we place three double crochets again to complete or round. Okay. This is how it is looking by now, and the size that I am aiming for is this size. So we now a slip stitch. And then or Grand squares, it is looking like this. Okay, I want to show you that this is the pattern. And if you keep repeating the same steps as we have been doing, your grande square will grow as much as you want. You can stop here, and then you chain one, and then you cut the jar and weave that in through the back of the grand square, or you can do as I will be doing with you, a border. So your Grand Squares looks more cohesive and prettier. And I will see you in the next video to make the border. 11. Adding the Border with Half Double Crochet: Or Granny square is complete, and now we are going to be applying a border using the half double crochet stitch. I will explain to you at the end how we do it. And then we are going to be placing one half double crochet in every stitch. And on the corners, we are making the corners using half double crochet, two half double crochet, then a chain, and then two half double crochet again. And then we continue in the next stage, appling half double crochet in every stitch, and we are going to be doing this around until we complete the whole round. This is how we do a half double crochet. We grab the yarn, and then we insert the hook into the loop like this. And then we grab the jar and we pass the ya through this loop. Now we have three loops on the hook. And to do the half double crochet, we grab the yarn, and we pass it to the three loops at one time, like this. And this is a half double crochet. Let's do it again. We yarn over, insert the hook into the next, the loop of the next stitch. Then grab the jar, pass it through the loop. Then you have three loops on the hook and grab the jar and pass it through the three loops at one time. Then we have our second half double crochet. Let's do the corner. We are going to be placing the have to direct in the space like this. Then grab the ya, pass it through the space. We have three loops on the hook, grab the jar and pass it through the three loops. This is one, and then we need to do another one. Jan over, pass it to the space, grab the yard, three loops on the hook, grab the yard and pass it to the three loops. To make the corner, we need a chain. Then we chain one like this one, and two. And then we place two half topple crouches again. This is one, three loops on the hook, grab the jar and pass it through the three loops. And the second one. Grab the yard, three loops on the hook, pass the yarn through the three loops. And then we complete our corner. Now we are going to be placing a half double crochet in every of these stitch. You need to have around 14 stitches here. Count them as you are doing your half double crochet so you don't get miscount and your ran square get proper form. Okay? Let's begin with the first one. Jan over, insert the hook into the loop, grab the yarn. Now you have three loops on your hook, grab the yarn and pass it through the three loops. Second one, J over, insert the hook into the loop, grab the yard, pass it through the loop, and grab the yard and pass it to the three loops on your hook. Third, half double cross. Four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Let me hold the jar. Me jar. Ten, 11. 12 13 and 14. Now we reach the corner, and here we do the same. We place two half double crochet, then two chain, and then two half double crochet in the same space. This is the second one, then chain two, one and two, and then two half double crochets. One and two. And then here we place again, one half double crochet in the next stitches until we reach the corners. There should be 14 stitches again until here, 14 stitches. Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. You do this until you reach the next corner, and then you apply the two half double crochet and the two chain and then two half double crochet to make your corner 14. We reach the next corner, so we need to place or corner stitches. Let's place the first half double crochet. This is one, and this is two, half double crochet, then chain two, one and two, and then place two half Double crochet again to complete the corner. Make sure you always have enough jar tail so you can work easily. Now we continue applying half Double crochet in every stitch. 12. Let me show you what we have done. Now we need to complete this until the next corner. I am making my jar tail longer so I can work easily. And we continue applying the half double roche in every stitch. Remember you need to have the same amount of stitches. So you granny square, keep the form and the shape, so count then as you are placing the half double grouch. In my work there are 14 double crochets before every corner. Depending on the size of the am you have, it may vary the size of the number of half Dubcgs you need to apply. So we reach the corner and we have done all of these stitches here. We are here right now. Now we need to do this corner, applying to half double crochet. Then separating them with two change, and then two half double. Again, this is the second half double crochet. Now we do the chain one and two, and then we apply two half Double Groch to complete the corner, two. And now we need to place half crochet until the end of the round. Here will be our last stitch because here we started with a half crochet at the beginning. So let's do our half crochet until we reach the starting point of our border of our gran squared. It is very easy and very repetitive. So when you get the hanger of it, you get easy automatized in the process. Placing one half double crochet in every stitch. And the wer is to give the grand square more shape and stability. And then on the last stage, we are going to be placing our last half double crochet. And then we need to join using a slip stitch. Like this. Insert the hook into the loop, grab the ja, and then pass the jam to the loop on your hook. Then chain one, and we have completed the border, and our Granny square is complete totally with borden. Now we need to weave in the ends for that we are going to be cutting in the jar. I will see you in the next video. 12. Securing the Work and Weave in the Ends: To finish and secure our granny square, we are going to be cutting the jar. Choose a length, not a char, not long, and then grab your hook and pull the jar to secure it and pull it through tightly so it doesn't unravel. Now turn your work around on the side, and using this time your hook can be the same hook or a small one start to weave in the tail of the jar around the stitches on the back or your granny square. This is to prevent your work for unraveling and it is super easy. Just try to hide this piece of jar and the stitches on the back of your work. You can go starting on one direction, going forward, for example, and then leaving a part of the jam and then going back on the contrary direction. So you make like a security not without making a kt. I know. The idea weaving the end is just hide this end and prevent and work for unraveling. You can use AL tapest needle and just sew the ja into the fabric that you have made with your grand square, and it will work perfectly as well. But in that case, you need a longer tail of jar. With a hook, I find it to be less complicated and faster to complete the hole within the ends of the jar. As you can see here, I am almost done, and it took me only two to 3 minutes to complete it. Sometimes when you have longer tails, it can take about 5 minutes or more. So we are almost ready. Make sure your ends are completely hide, and now it's done. Like this. Then take gran square and make it flat because our next step is a very crucial one, which consists in blocking, wet blocking in your final piece. I maintain this beautiful flat shape. For that, I will see you in the next video. 13. Technique: Wet Blocking: Let's web blocking or final piece or grand square. I have here a hand towel. This size allow me to use only one towel, but if you have a small one, you need to use two towels. I will place my grand square on the center or one of the half because we need to cover it with the other side of the towel. And then with my water bottle, I will spray water in all the side of the granny square, making it completely wet. So all the fiber absorbs the water. Yeah. Like this, spray all the surface, and then tune it around and do the same step. Spray the water onto the surface. And then getting tired from this spray. So take breaks if you need as well. So Make sure the surface is wet on both sizes, and then tab with your hand. I am very tired here. My hands are cramping from the spraying thing, but it's okay. So my gran square is completely wet. And it will do the job. When you feel it is completely wet, then just cover it with the half of your towel of put on top the other towel that you have. And I just making sure all is wet. And spraying a little bit more of water to be sure. Now I will place the half of the tower on top, and then I will place something heavy like a book or something. I will put on top my journal. That is enough. It doesn't need to be pounds or kilograms. And then I will let it rest until it's dry, normally overnight, but it depends where you live. And then Walla with the magic of time now my grand square is completely dry. And look at this. Look how perfectly flat it looks, and yours would look as well, very, very flat and beautiful and pretty. And now you are ready to use yours, and I am ready to use mine like this. Or I will show you how I will use it. Like this with my cup of tea, and so it is ready. I hope you your stay as flat as mine. And if you have any doubt, please don't hesitate to write me a comment on the glass, so I will get back at you with any suggestion or any help you need. I will see you in the next video. 14.
