1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project that I designed, especially for kids. You do not need to have any drawing or painting experience at all. To be successful with this project. I will guide you step-by-step through all the steps that you need to take. So you will feel comfortable at all times. Today we are going to be creating this cool shark. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paint and a paintbrush. You will also need a cup or a bowl with clean water. And a permanent marker. Permanent means that the marker ink will not run around if you add water to it. You will also need a paper towel. So go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials, and I'll see you back here in the next video. 2. Step 1: Draw a Stealthy Shark Design: In this step we are going to draw our shark design. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we are going to take the cap off of our marker and put it on the back. And we're going to make the shape the main part of our body and the head of our shark right here in the center. And it's not going to be giant and it's not going to be really small. It's going to be midsize. So the shape is going to be a circle. However, it's going to be a little bit more narrow at the top and a little bit wider at the bottom. Let me show you what I mean. Why don't you watch me first and then you can make your own shape. So I'm going to start about right here. I'm going to come around. I'm going to come over, moves back up, and then close up, see how it's a little bit more narrow at the top and a little bit wider down below. If your shape does not look exactly like mine, that's okay. Your shark, we'll just have a different shape and that's a good thing. All sharks are different, some are smaller, some are larger, some have different shapes. Now that we have our head and our body of our shark, we're going to make a really nice big thin. So we're going to go up, come over, and then come down. That's pretty large for our shark, right? This is a more of a cartoon sharks, so it's not going to be super realistic. Now let's come to the sides and we're going to make some curved lines coming down that are going to almost go to the end of our piece of paper or the Edge and then come back in. Same thing on the other side. So we're going to come down almost to the edge, and then we're going to come back in. Now let's make the tail for our sharp. So we're going to come to about right here and we're going to make a straight line going up. Makes sure it connects there to the body of the shark. And then we're going to come down and come back out like this. And then come back in. So straight line, curved line, and then straight line going in and that's going to be the shark tail and you're not going to be able to see a lot of the shark tail because it's going to be behind shark's body. Now let's make a big giant smile for our shark. Let's make a really large line, a large straight line. And then we're going to close that up with a curve line like this. Remember, as I said before, this is not realistic so we can make the mouth really, really big. Now let's add some teeth to our design. So we start at the bottom and we come up with a slanted line. And let's make these slanted lines all the way across our smile. There we go. Now we have our teeth. Let's make some eyes, Let's make some slanted eyes that are wide set apart on our piece of paper. And let's color those in with our black marker so they can really stand out. Let's make sure they're roughly the same size. Then let's add some eyebrows. And the eyebrows will add a lot of expression. It will look like he's spheres right? Now let's add some nostrils. Here we go. Now that we have our shark design, let's add a little bit to the background. So I'm going to make some water up here and I'd like my fin to be sticking out above the water. So I'm going to make sure that I make these lines below the fin going all the way across my piece of paper. And then down here at the bottom, I'm going to make some sand. But before I make some sand, I'm going to make a little bit of seaweed. So the way that I like to make seaweed the best is to make some little rocks first, sum over rocks. And then I like to add just some curved squiggly lines coming up. And this represents the seaweed. If there's a different way that you'd like to make your seaweed. Go ahead and do that. I'm going to leave this area clear right here and maybe I'll put a couple of little rocks down here. How I like to make rocks. Like to make this kind of rock too, but I like to make the kind of rock with a little bit of flat a little bit of a flat area down below. Right? Now I'm going to make my sand I'm not going to make it super straight because when you look at sand, it's usually not that straight. There we go. Then I will add a little bit of detail to my sand. I'll add some dots. I will gently use my marker. I'm not pushing very hard with my marker. I'm just gently dotting some little spaces. Some little dots. There we go. If there's anything else that you'd like to add to your design, you can go ahead and do that right now before we start adding our watercolor paints. So I will see you back here to add some watercolor paints in the next video. 3. Step 2: Paint the Background: In this step we are going to paint our design. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to add a drop or two of water to each of our pans of paint. And what that will do is it will soften up our pain a little bit so it makes it easier for us to use. So I really encourage you to just take a moment to add a drop or two of water to each pan of paint. Now that our paints or softening app, let's turn our attention to our drawing. This would be a good time for you to think about the colors that you would like to use. Let me share with you the colors that I'm going to use. But of course, your artwork is your artwork, so you get to choose the colors that you'd like. For my shark and my rocks. I'm going to choose gray paint that I'm going to make out of my black. And for the background, for the ocean in the sky, I'm going to choose blue. For the sand, I'm going to choose brown, a light, light brown. And for the seaweed, I'm going to choose green. Alright? So the first thing that we're going to do is we're going to paint our background. Alright, so I'm going to start with my sand. I'm going to put a small amount of paint in quite a bit of water into one of my wells. And I'm going to make some really light brown, which is also called Tan. And I'm just going to apply this color to my sand. Now that I have my sand painted at the bottom, I'm going to show you something. I'm going to put a little bit of a shadow here at the bottom underneath my shark. So I'm going to get some darker brown. And I'm going to make sure that I don't have a lot of water on there. And I'm just going to very carefully put a little bit of dark brown right there. Not too much, just a little bit. And that'll kinda look like there's a shadow coming down onto the stand from the shark. Because when you think about it, the sun is up here. It's coming down onto the shark. That will create a shadow underneath the shark. Alright, so that's the shadow right there. Now that I'm finished with the sand, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to paint the sky, and I'm going to paint the water. So I'm going to paint the water this shade of blue. And I want to, I want that to be a little bit lighter, so I'm going to add more water to that and spread that paint out. So I'm going to do that. And then I'm going to speed up this video so you can watch new speed paint. But in reality, I'm not painting that fast. I'm taking my time because I want to do a good job. All right, friends. So I'm finished painting the background. When we come back, we will start painting the sharp. 4. Step 3: Paint the Shark: In this step we are going to paint the shark and the rocks gray. And I'm going to show you how to make some gray paint out of black paint. The first thing that you'll want to do is place a few drops of water inside one of your wells and then add a small amount of black. You don't need that much black. Blacks, a very strong color, so you don't need that much. Small area, test out the color gray you have created and see if you like it. If you do like it, then you can simply start painting. Remember to paint slowly, carefully so you do your best work. Alrighty friends. I'm finished with my painting and I've really, really happy with it. I hope that you enjoyed this project. I will see you next time.
