1. Introduction and Supplies You Will Need for This Course: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'd like to introduce you to this course. This is a drawing and watercolor painting course that was designed especially for kids. Students do not need to have any drawing or painting experience. To be successful in this course. I will guide students step-by-step through all the steps they need to take to create wonderful artwork. In this course, we will create artwork inspired by the summer season. I'm excited to teach you how to draw and paint. A surfing lion, a big fish, swimming lemur, and a crab on the beach. Let's talk about the supplies in the materials that you will need for this entire course. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. For each of your projects. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a cup or a bowl with clean water. You will need a paintbrush. I like to use this size paintbrush, but just use what you have available to you. You will need either a black crayon or a black oil pastel. Either one will work great. You will also need a paper towel for each of your projects. So go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And let's get started on our first project. 2. Let's Draw and Paint a Swimming Lemur!: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'd like to introduce you to this project. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project. And today we will be creating this cute swimming lemur. So I hope that you have a lot of fun with this project. Let's get started. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. You will need a cup or a bowl with clean water and a black crayon or a black oil pastel and a paper towel. So go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. In this step, we're going to draw our design. So let's get started. Go ahead and pick up your black crayon or your black oil pastel. I'm going to use oil pastel. You'll want to start at the top of your piece of paper, coming down about three or four inches, that would be about five or six centimeters. We're going to make a circle about this size. If yours is a little bit larger or smaller, that's okay. Now next to this circle coming down just a little bit, you're going to make another circle. There'll be pretty close to each other. These are going to be the eyes for our lemur. If your circles are not exactly the same size like mine, that's okay. That actually makes the cartoon even more endearing. So let's put some circles, some dots inside those initial circles. Sure, they're around the same size. The next thing that we're going to do is draw a line above these circles. So it's going to be a slanted line like this. That's going to be the top of our mask for our lemur. Now we're going to go back to this side of our line and we're going to make a curve line going around the eye like this. And then we're going to do the same thing on the other side. Now we're going to connect these two sides of our lines with a curved line that goes up and then comes back down. This is going to be our mask. Now let's go back up to the top of our piece of paper, right above this line right here. And we're going to make a curve line. Then we're going to make another line that goes from this angle to this angle. And it's going to be a curved line like this. This is going to be the top of our lemurs head. Now let's make some ears. We're going to make them coming out here in this area. My ears are going to go off of the piece of paper because I put my leavers head pretty close to the top. So just do the best that you can. You may or may not have your ears going off of your piece of paper. Now let's come down to this area right here. We're going to put the nose and the mouth. So let's make a curved line like this. Inside of this curve line. Let's make a triangle. Let's fill that in with our black oil pastel or crayon. Then let's make a small dot that's going to be the mouth. It's almost like a surprise. Look, right? Alright, so now we need to make the bottom part of our lemurs head and face. We're going to start about right here. And we're going to make a curve line coming around. Just like that. Now what we're going to do is create the body for lemur. And it's going to be slanted like this because when you're swimming, Usually you don't swim straight up and down. Your body is not straight up and down when you're swimming. It's to the side a little bit. So that's what we're going to do. We're going to make a curved line and it's going to be pretty long curve line, coming down, going over and coming back up. Remember this is a cartoon, so it's not realistic. Now that we have our body for our lemur, let's make some arms. So a line coming down and going back in. And same thing on this side, coming down. And then going back in. It looks like he's looking at something, right? Alright. Now I'm going to make some legs down here at the bottom. As you can see, I do not have a lot of space down here, but that's okay. My legs are just going to go off of the piece of paper. No problem. I'm going to start my legs about right here and go off of that piece of paper. And then same thing on this side, but I have a little bit more room. So I'll just make my lake like this. Kinda like he's swimming to the side. Alright, now we need to make that special tail that lemurs have. So you can either make your tail on the left hand side or the right-hand side. Decide which side you'd like to make your tail on based on where you want it to be, but also how much space do you have? As you can see, I don't have as much space over here, so I'm going to make my tail over here. So my tail is going to come out like this. Jump over my arm. I'm going to make my tail pretty long, come down, long and thin like that. Then lemurs have stripes on their tail, so I'm going to make some stripes. There we go. Now at this point, you can create a design on the swim suit of your lemur. And I think I'm just going to make some stripes. So you can make whatever you'd like. You can make heart, so you can make stars, you can make circles or squares. It's up to you. I'm going to just make some stripes, so I'm going to make those curved. I'm going slowly and carefully, so I do my best work. Now that we have our lemur drawing, Let's add some designs to the background. You can add whatever you'd like to the background. You can add bubbles, you can add small fish. You can add other different types of fish. You can add some seaweed or different corals. It's up to you as to what you'd like to add. I think I'm going to add some small fish. And the way that I like to make fish, I like to make them very simple. So I like to make a straight line and then a curved line that looks like this. That's my favorite kind of fish to make. So if you'd like to use this type of a fish, you can go ahead and do that. I'm just going to put these fish around my lemur. But you can choose any design that you like. Alrighty friends. I think I'm pretty happy with the number of fish that I added to my background. Go ahead and finish up whatever you'd like to put into your background. And the next thing that we're going to do is we are going to add some watercolor paints to our design. If your fingers get a little bit messy with your oil pastels, That's okay. That happens all the time because oil pastels are very soft and they're very messy. That's part of the fun. So I just take my handy-dandy paper towel and I wipe my fingers off. If all of it doesn't come off, That's okay. No problem. Alright, so I will see you in the next video. In this step we are going to add some watercolor paints to our design. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to prepare our watercolor paints. And we're going to add a drop or two of water into each pan of paint. And what that will do is it will soften up our paints a little bit. It will dissolve our paints, and that will make our paints easier for us to use. So I am going to take a moment to do that. Now that our paints or softening up, Let's turn our attention to our design. So we know that lemurs are gray and white and they have yellow eyes. So we're going to want to make sure that our lemurs have yellow eyes and we are going to paint the lemurs body and face gray and white. As for the mask that the lemur is wearing in the swimsuit, you get to choose those colors. Think about the colors that you think would look the best on that. The background and the fish or whatever else that you chose to draw on your piece of paper, you get to decide the colors for those as well. So let's start because we have yellow for our eyes. Let's start by painting our eyes yellow. I'm using a nice strong yellow because I want my eyes to really stand out. So I'm using a lot of paint and a little bit of water. If you'd like your eyes to be a little bit lighter, then you would use more water and less paint. There we go. Now I think for my mask, I'm going to paint my mask red. Maybe not a really strong red letter red. That's a little bit lighter. So I'm going to go ahead and do that. And then I'm also going to paint the stripes on my swimsuit, on my lamer. I'm going to paint that, read those stripes red as well. Now that I'm finished painting the eyes, the mask, and the swim suit, I'm going to go ahead and paint the lemur gray. And then I'm going to leave some of the areas white. I'm not going to use paint on those areas. So to make the color gray, I'm going to make sure that I have quite a bit of water on my paintbrush. I'm going to dip it into the black paint. And then I'm going to add even more water because I want my paint to be not really dark black. I'd like it to be more of a gray color. I'm going to add quite a bit of water there. These are the areas that I'm going to paint with gray. I'm going to paint the ears gray. I'm going to paint the top of the head gray. I'm going to paint this nose area gray. I'm going to paint the arms gray and the legs gray. And for the tail, I'm going to alternate gray and white for the stripes. Okay. So you can go ahead and watch me. I'm going to really go slowly and carefully and take my time so I can do my best work. Already friends, I'm finished using my gray on my lemur. And as you can see, the lemurs completely finished with the paint. I did leave some areas white and I wanted to do that because lemurs are gray and white. So when we come back, we will start painting the background. In this step, we're going to paint the background of our design. So let's get started. As you can see, I have some fish and then I have a lot of space that I'm going to be painting. Your Art Workers going to look different from mine. You get to use the colors that you'd like for your artwork. You might have bubbles, you might have starfish. You might have different things in your background than I do. So you just paint the colors that you'd like to paint with. And I will do the same. I think I'm going to paint my fish orange, and I'm going to paint my background blue. I'm going to use this lighter blue right here. So I'm going to start with my fish, and it's a small space. So I am going to take my time. I might use some lighter orange. I might use some darker orange. I'm not quite sure. I'm just going to see how I feel as I am painting. All right, friends. I'm finished painting my design. I'm really happy with the way that it turned out. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time. 3. Let's Draw and Paint a Big Fish!: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project, and it is a big fish in the ocean. So I hope that you have a lot of fun with this project. Let's get started. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. You will also need a horrible with clean water and a black crayon or a black oil pastel and a paper towel. Go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. In this step, we're going to draw our fish design. So let's get started. What we're going to do is we're going to draw our fish design in the middle right here. And little fish, little tiny fish are so cute, aren't they? But what we're going to do is we're going to make our fish fill up almost this whole, entire space, right here in the middle. Okay? So we want it to be a really big fish for this space on our piece of paper. All right, keep that in mind. Alright, so go ahead and pick up either your crayon or your oil pastel. I'm going to use my oil pastel. And coming in from the right side about an inch in about two centimeters, make a really small dot. Make a really small dot. Let me see. I want to make sure that you can see that. There we go. We don't want to make a big dot, just a small one. That's going to be a guide for us. Alright, starting at r dot, what we're going to do is we're going to make a curve line in. And then we're going to go up and come around and then come down. Alright. So let me show you that again. Starting at your door, you're going to go a little ways in. You're going to come up, come around with a curved line, and then stop. Alright. You might be pretty close to the edge of your piece of paper like I am. And that's okay. Alright, now let's come back to that dot. And we're going to come in a little bit like we did with the other line. And then come down, go slowly and carefully, comma around, and then meet up with that first line. Like that. If your shape is not exactly the same as my shape, that's okay. That's actually a good thing. We want your fish to look different from mine. Okay? So now there's the body of our fish. Now we're going to make the tail, and my tail is going to go off of the piece of paper. So you can make any type of tail, but you want, I'm going to make a curved tail like this. And I might even make it come in right here. Like that. If you'd like to add a little bit of detail to your tail, go ahead and do that. Alright, the next thing that we're going to do is we're going to make a top fin. So coming out from the top a little bit forward to the right, we're going to make a curve line coming up. And then we're going to make a curve line coming back in. All right, now let's make a thin on the bottom. So curved line. And then a curve line. If you'd like to make a design on either the top fin or the bottom fin or both. Go ahead and do that. I'm going to make some stripes. That just adds a little bit more detail. And then I'll add some stripes down here as well, just some lines. Okay, Now let's go to the inside of our fish design. And if you'd like to add a smile, go ahead and do that. I think I'm going to add my smile right here. That just starts at that, at that dot that I made initially. And then I'm going to make a circle for the eye. Then inside that circle, I'm going to make a smaller circle. And I'm going to fill that in that shape in with my oil pastel. You can feel yours in with your oil pastel or your crayon if you'd like. Now I'm going to come here into the middle and I'm going to make a siphon. So I'm going to make my site fan like this, a curve line. It's almost like a backward C. Then I'm going to make just some little lines, curved lines coming out from that C. Then if there's anything else that you'd like to add on the inside of your fish. This is where you can get creative. You can make some circles, you can make some triangles, different types of lines. You can make some hearts. It's up to you. I'm just going to make some more lines that look like this. Like big long triangles. Like to match those ones. In my top fin. There we go. Remember you can use the whole space if you'd like to add your designs. Now let's create a background for our design. I think I might put a few bubbles up here at the top. I just make some circles. And then inside those circles at the top I make another little circle. I think I might just make three little bubbles for my fish. Then down here at the bottom, let's create a design. Maybe some rocks and some seaweed and some sand. If you'd like to make some shells or a snail down there, you can go ahead and do that. I'm going to show you how to make some seaweed. I'm going to make some rocks first. So some ovals. Inside the ovals, I'm going to just put a curve line. And then I'm just going to make some curved lines coming up from those rocks. They're going to be flowy, not going to be straight, they're going to be little bit curved. Let's see, maybe one right here. Fill up that space. And then down here, over on this side, I think what I'll do is I'll make a little shell. So I'll make a straight line. Then two lines coming in diagonally. Then zigzag like that. Then I'll add some sand. So I'll just make some sand coming across. Remember, sand is not super straight, so we don't want a super straight line. Then you can add some little dots that can represent the sand. Now if there's anything else you'd like to add to your design, you can go ahead and do that right now. I'm happy with my design, so I think I'm going to stop right there. But if there is anything else that you'd like to add, you can go ahead and do that. So when we come back, we will start painting our fish design. In this step, we are going to paint our designs. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to add a drop or two of water to each pan of paint. And what that will do is it will soften up the paints. They are easier for us to use. So I always suggest to students that they go ahead and do that because it makes getting the paint out of your palate a lot easier. Now that our paints or softening up, Let's turn our attention to our design. So you could to paint your design any colors that you'd like. I'm going to show you how I paint my design. But that doesn't mean that you need to use exactly the same colors. I know for sure that I am going to paint my background blue because I'd like it to represent the ocean. And I'm going to paint this area down here brown, like a really light brown. So that would be more of a tan color that will represent the ocean. Then for my seaweed, I think I'll use green. And then for my actual fish, I haven't decided between red or pink or orange. I'm thinking maybe pink, pink, and orange. So you get to decide the colors that you choose. And I'm going to decide on using the color pink. So I'm going to start here. Well, that's that's a really dark pink, right? If you'd like to lighten up your color, like I think I'm going to do. I'm just going to add more water and that will lighten up the color. So I'm going to go ahead and speed up this video. I'm going to paint the fish and the seaweed and a little shell. Alrighty friends, I'm back. And I'm really happy with the way that my fish looks. What I wanted to show you is one thing about these little rocks here. I'm going to paint those gray. So I'm going to take a small amount of black paint and I'm going to add quite a bit of water. And that will make a gray color, a light gray. So if you'd like to ever make gray, you just use a small amount of black and you add quite a bit of water. So when we come back, we will be painting the background. In this step, we are going to paint our background. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is paint our sand down here at the bottom. I am going to use a brown for my sand and I'm going to add just a little bit of brown paint and quite a bit of water because I want this color to be very light like a sand colored. The color of sand is usually not always, but usually pretty light. So I want to make sure that that's pretty a pretty light color brown. So I'm going to go ahead and paint that brown. Now that I have my sand painted, I'm going to go ahead and move on to the water. So I'm going to just use my blue. I'm going to paint slowly and carefully so I can do my best work. I want it to be a little bit lighter, so I'm going to add a little bit more water. I'll speed up this video and you can watch me paint my water. Alrighty friends. I'm finished painting my fish design. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time. 4. Let's Draw and Paint a Crab on the Beach!: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project, and it is a little red crab and a pink bird on the beach. I hope that you have a lot of fun with this project. Let's get started. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. You will also need a cup or a bowl with clean water and a black crayon or a black oil pastel. And you will also need a paper towel. So go ahead and gather all of the supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. In this step, we are going to draw our designs. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to pick up our oil pastel or our crayon. I'm going to use a black oil pastel. And what we're going to do is go pretty close to the bottom of our piece of paper, but not all the way to the bottom. Okay. So about right here, which is pretty close to the bottom, but not touching the bottom. I'm going to make a shape that looks like this. It's going to be an upside down U. Then I'm going to come around and close it up like this. If your shape doesn't look exactly like mine, That's okay. We're just making a little crab. So they come in different shapes and in different sizes. Now that we have our main shape for our crap, Let's give him some legs. So we're going to put his legs down towards the bottom and we're going to give him six legs. So let's make some curved lines going out and then coming back in. That's one leg. Then I come out and then I come back in. Then I come down and then I come back up. And then the same thing on the other side. So come down, come back up. Come down, come back up. I'm down and come back up. And then we're going to put some clause here closer to the top on the sides. So for the clause we're going to make some simple clause. So those are just going to be the letter U. It's going to be touching. That means shape. Then we're going to make a V. That closes up that shape. Let me show you again. So we have the letter you touching this main shape and then a letter V inside. And it's going to connect those two lines. Remember, this is a cartoon crops, so it's not going to look very realistic. Now let's make some eyes for our crowd. So let's just make two lines coming straight up. And then at the top of those lines, let's put a circle. And then inside those circles, Let's put adopt. It looks funny. Alright, now you get to choose the type of smile that you'd like for your crap. I'm just going to have a really large smile, large and deep. If you want to close up your smile, you can do that as well. You can give him a tongue or some teeth. It's completely up to you. This is your artwork so you get to do what you'd like. Now we have a little bit of space right here. Let's make a palm tree. We're going to start about right here. And we're not going all the way to the bottom, but we're going to go about right here. And we're going to make a curve line about like that long. Then we're going to make another curve line that runs right along this first curve line. So another curved line. And then we're going to stop. Now we're going to make some palm fronds. So we're going to make a curve line coming out and then a curved line coming back in. And then we're going to do that all the way around. And then inside of those palm fronds, we can add a little bit of detail. If you have the room. Then if you'd like to add some coconuts, you can go ahead and do that as well. When I'm making a palm tree, I like to add a little bit of detail onto the trunk. So I'm going to make a zigzag line going all the way down. If there's a different type of a line that you'd like to use. You can go ahead and do that. Here we go. Now, if you have any room here at the top, you can either put some clouds or a bird. You can make a bird maybe sitting on your palm tree if you'd like, or you can put a son. I think I'm going to put a bird. So I'm going to make my bird facing this way. I'm going to come around like this. Then I'll make a beak and an I, and then some legs that are standing on the palm tree. Oh, I need to give them a little wing so he can fly. There we go. So you can make anything that you'd like inside the sky. Now that we have our main design, let's add a little bit of sand down here at the bottom. So our tree and our crab have something to stand on. So I'm just going to make a line that looks like this. It's not going to be super straight because it's going to be sand. I'm not sure if you've ever seen sand before, but sand isn't a straight line. Now, the next thing that we can do is add a little bit of detail to our sand. If you want to add maybe a shell, I'll add a little shell here. I'd like to just make a swirl like this. And then a diagonal line, a diagonal line, and then hook those two together, those two lines. And then I'm just going to make some little dots. And that's going to represent the sand. Now if there's anything else you'd like to add to your design, now's the time to do it before we start adding paint. If you have some oil pastel on your hand like I do, you can go go ahead and use your handy-dandy paper towel and get that black oil pastel off of your fingers if you'd like. It might not come all the way off and that's okay. This is art. And sometimes you get messy in art while you're creating art. So when we come back in the next step, we will start adding some watercolor paint to our design. In this step, we are going to add some watercolor paints to our design. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to add a drop or two of water to each of our pans of paint. And what this will do is it will soften our paint just a little bit, and that will make it easier for us to use. So I always encourage students who are about to use watercolor paints to add one or two drops to those paints because it makes it a lot easier to use, makes the paint a lot easier to use. Alrighty, Now that our paint is softening up, Let's turn our attention to our design. Your design might not look exactly like mine design, and that's a good thing. We want your design to look like your design because you are a different person than I am. You are different person from the neighbor sitting next to you. We want your artwork to look like yours. That's the cool thing about being a human, is that we are all different in our artwork will all be different. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to offer some suggestions for the colors that you can use. There are the suggestions that I'm going to offer that I'm going to use myself. However, you get to choose the colors that you would like to use. Okay? The suggestions that I'm going to tell you about are just suggestions. That means you can use them but you don't have to. Alright? So down here at the bottom, I'm going to make a very light brown and it's going to be a tan color. I'm going to add a lot of water into my brown and it's going to be a very light brown. I'd like to have a red crap. I'm not sure about this cute shell here yet. I haven't decided on that. Brown trunk for my palm tree, green leaves, brown coconuts, and a blue sky. I'm not sure about. The bird may be pink or yellow or orange. I'm not quite sure yet. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to just start with the, with the crab and the tree and the bird and the shell. For this step. Then in the next video we will be painting the background. So I'm going to start here with my crab. And as I said, I'm going to paint my crab red. And I'm going to try to stay inside those lines. But I am going to understand that sometimes watercolor paint loves to just move around. So if that happens, that's okay. I'm just going to say, Oh, well, I'm going to paint this in. I'm not going to paint in eyeballs, so I want them to stay white so that they pop out from the background. I did go outside that line a little bit. Go. Alright, I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to speed up this video. You can watch me get some ideas. And I'll see you back here in just a minute. Alrighty friends. I'm back and I'm finished painting my crab, my bird, my tree, and my shell. When we come back in the next step, we will be adding some watercolor paints to our background. So I'll see you back here in the next video. In this step, we are going to add some watercolor paints to our background. So let's get started. So for the sand, I was mentioning that I am going to use a very light brown. So I'm going to add a little bit of brown to one of my wells and I'm going to add a lot of water because I want the brown to be really, really light, like sand color. So I don't know if you've ever seen sand in real life, but it's like a very light tan. Sometimes it's pretty white, sometimes it's black. Even the sand on my artwork is going to be a light tan. I'm going to go ahead and do that, paint that sand. Now that I'm finished painting my sand, I'm going to go ahead and use my blue to start painting the sky. And as I said before, I'm going to try to stay inside the lines. Alrighty friends. I'm finished painting the background and my artwork turned out awesome. I'm really happy with it. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I will see you next time. 5. Let's Draw and Paint a Surfing Lion!: Hi friends, how are you? I hope you're having a great day today. I'm excited about sharing this project with you. This is a drawing and watercolor painting project. And today we are going to be creating this surfing lion. So I hope that you have a lot of fun with this project. Let's get started. Let's talk about the supplies and the materials that you will need for this project. The first thing that you'll need is a piece of watercolor paper. You will need a set of watercolor paints and a paintbrush. I like to use this size paintbrush, but you can just use what you have available to you. You will need a cup or a bowl with clean water. You will need a black oil pastel or a black crayon and paper towel. So go ahead and gather all of those supplies and materials. And I'll see you back here in the next video. In this step, we are going to draw our designs. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to pick up our oil pastel or a CRAN. And we're going to focus on the right hand side of our piece of paper. This is where we're going to draw our lion. So what we're going to do is go towards the top of our piece of paper, but not touching the top. And we're going to make a medium-sized circle about this thick. Don't worry if your circle is not perfect, it takes a lot of practice to make a circle. Now that you have your circle, Let's put some ears on the top of our circle. Then let's make a larger circle going around that initial circle and the ears. If you do touch the side of your piece of paper or you go off the edge. That's okay, don't worry about it. Now let's make some features on the inside of our face for our lion. So we're going to make a straight line. Then we're going to make two lines coming down. This is going to be the nose, it's a triangle. And then we're going to fill that in with our black oil pastel or crayon. Then we're going to make a line coming down and a little smile. Now let's create a little bit of detail inside of the face features. We're going to make a curve line coming from the bottom part of our ear to the angle of our nose. And same thing on the other side. Then let's add some eyes. I'm going to add some rounded eyes. You can add any type of lie that you'd like. I like to make my eyes roughly the same size. So it might take up some back-and-forth to make exactly the same size eyes. I just do the best that I can. Now let's add a little bit of detail to our main. Can just be some straight lines coming out. Alright, now that we have the head and face of our lion, what we're going to do is make his body. And because this is a cartoon lion, It's not going to be very realistic. The body of our lion might be a little bit larger or a little bit smaller than the head. So make a curve line in a curve line. Then we're going to make two lines coming in. Then we're going to make an upside down U. These are going to be the shorts down here at the bottom. So let's make a curve line cross the tummy. And then let's make some lines coming out of the bottom and then add some feet. There we go. We will be adding the arms and the hands and the tail. In just a moment, Let's turn our attention to the left side of our piece of paper. And this is where we're going to make our surfboard. Surfboard can be tall or short. It can be thin or thicker. It's up to you as to what your surf board looks like. I'm going to just give you an example of a surf board that I like to make, but you can certainly choose your own type of surfboard, right? I'm going to come up here, I'm looking at this space right here. So this is the space that I have to fit my surfboard. So I'm going to go about in the middle and make a dog. Now from this dot, I'm going to make a curved line coming down this way, and another curved line coming down this way. We don't have that much space here. So I'm going to be pretty careful with the edge when I get to this edge. And if I go off the paper a little bit, that's okay. I'm not going to worry about it too much. I have a curved line here and a curve line here, and I'm not going to close them up at the bottom. The reason why is because I want to have a line like this. It's going to be sitting in the sand. Now I'm going to make a little bit of detail on my surfboard, so I'm going to make a thin. Then what you can do is you can add some different designs to your surfboard. You can add flowers, you can add waves, you can add stars, anything that you'd like. I think what I'm going to do is I'm just going to add a stripe. Jump over that fin. Stripe like that. You can certainly add more detail to your surf board if you'd like. Now that we have our surfboard, now we can make the hands of our lion. So I'm just going to have the arms come out. So it's almost like the lion is holding up the surf board right? There we go. And then another arm and hand over here. This is going to be more down. Then I'd like to put a little tail. So I think I'll make the tail over on this side, come up, jump over that arm, then come back down, and then add a little teardrop shape to the end. So that's going to be my tail. Now I'd like to add a little bit of detail down here at the bottom. I would like to add some sand and maybe even some waves behind the lion and the surf board. So make some sand, make a line here. Lines here. There's not super straight lines or they may be a little bit of waves. Then I think what I'm going to do down here is I'm going to make some shells. I like to make shells like this. So basically you make a spiral and then coming out from the spiral you made two diagonal lines and then you close up. Then maybe I'll make a little starfish here. So two lines coming down. Let me, let me show you that again. This is an upside down V. Then two lines coming out to viz. And then two V's coming in. Like this, upside-down V sideways V into regular views to the side. I'm wondering what I can do over here. I think I'm just going to make, you know, those rocks that are super smooth on the beach. That's what I'm going to make over here. Now for the rest of this space, I'm just going to make some little dots. These dots represent the grains of sand. I think the last thing that I'll do is I'll add a little sun in the sky. So I'm going to make a circle, small circle. And then I'm going to make some rays. Those are just going to be some curved lines that are connected together to go all the way around that circle. Already friends, if there are any other details that you'd like to add to your design. For example, if you would like to add some detail to the shorts of your lion or something else to the sky or to the sand, or even to the surfboard. Go ahead and do that now before we start painting in the next step, what we will be doing is we will be applying some watercolor paints to our design. In this step, we are going to apply some watercolor paints to our design. So let's get started. The first thing that we're going to do is we're going to add a drop or two to our paints, to each pan of paint. And what this will do is it will soften our pizza little bit. That way our paints are much easier for us to use. So I would suggest that you take the time to do that. It doesn't take very long at all. Just about a minute. Alright, now that our paints or softening up, Let's turn our attention to our design. So here we have a little lion who's about to go for a surf in the water. And what I'm going to do is suggest some colors that you can use. But because this is your artwork, you get to use the colors that you'd like. Let me tell you about the colors that I'm going to choose. For this little lion. I am going to choose some brown and some orange. The trunks. I'm not sure. Maybe read this sand, brown, different colors for my details down here. The surfboard. I haven't decided on that yet. Blue sky and yellow sun and blue waves. What I'm going to do first is I'm just going to paint the lion, the sun, the surfboard, and the details at the bottom. Okay. I know already that I'd like my lion to be brown with an orange main. So I'm going to make up some brown here. I put a little bit of brown paint to one of my wells and I add some water. And that's the perfect color in my opinion. So I'm going to try to stay in psi those lines. But I know that if I go outside of the lines a little bit, That's no problem. That's what watercolor paint loves to do. Sometimes it likes to spread around. So you can go ahead and watch me paint the lion, the surf board in the details. And I will be back in just a moment. Alrighty friends. I'm finished painting my lion and the details. And I think it looks really, really great. What I'm going to do next, and the next step is I am going to paint the background. So I will see you back here in the next video. In this step we're going to paint the background. So let's get started. As I mentioned before, I'm going to paint my sky blue, my water blue. And I'm also going to create a really, really light brown, a tan color for my sand. Alright, and I'm going to do that by placing a tiny amount of brown paint in one of my wells and adding mostly water. And that will create a really, really light brown. So I'm going to go ahead and paint the background and you can watch me. I'll speed up this video. So it will look like I'm speed painting, but I'm not really speed painting. I'm taking my time because it's really important to me that I do my best work. Alrighty friends. I'm finished painting my design and I'm really happy with it. I hope that you had a lot of fun with this project. I had a lot of fun teaching you. I will see you next time. 6. Thank You for Enrolling in This Course!: Thank you for enrolling in this course.
