1. Introduction: Hi and welcome. Now first of all, thank you so much for deciding to take this course with us on practical SEO for WordPress websites. Now before we dive into all the things that you'll be learning in this course. We just wanted to take some time to introduce ourselves and well, my name is Robin. I've been teaching digital marketing and how to start up and run businesses since 2070 with my very dear friend, jesper. That's me. I am jesper and I'm the other half of these two men team that with hundreds of thousands of students, have decided to create these step-by-step course called practical SEO training for WordPress websites. So what are you really going to learn inside this course? Well, this is a course filled with actionable steps and exercises where we'll take you from having a website with little to no website traffic to start getting targeted website traffic interested in what you have to offer. And since this course is named practical SEO training for WordPress websites, we promised to help you optimize your WordPress website and fill it with valuable information so people can find it on Google if you follow each step we're taking. Now this course will ask you to pause and play every now and then as we're going through it. And that is to actually optimize your website hands on so that people can find it on the Internet. Once your WordPress website is optimized with the right keywords, content, on-page SEO techniques, speed optimization and more. You'll have a website that's ready to convert website traffic into leads and customers. Now, even though this course is built for you to take action right away with it, you can take your time to look it through at your own pace. So who is this course for? It's this sign for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and anyone who wants more website traffic. So now that you know who we are, how the course is, build, what's included, who it's for. Let's talk about what to expect from this course in more detail. See you in the next video. 2. What to Expect: Hi and welcome. If you're wondering what's included in this course, well then you've landed on the right lecture, my friend. But before we start, it's very important that you understand that you need a WordPress websites to properly use these cores if you've got one, fantastic. So you might be wondering, what will I learn and what's included in this course? Well, everything you're about to learn will be 100% practical with no unproven fluff. Starting off with keyword research, you'll first get keyword research explained. So did you know exactly what it is and how it works? Of course, shown practically. Then you'll learn about key would intend, which helps you understand the keywords so that you can match your content with their intent. And next up we'll actually move on to learn how to do keyword research. And then we'll move on to content creation, starting off with content creation explained so that you know exactly what it is and how it works. Then you'll learn how to generate ideas and in the following lecture, create contents. You'll actually be creating content with the idea that you've generated will be doing it together. Of course, moving on to on-page SEO, which is all about improving your website's visibility by making changes on your website, you'll first learn how to optimize links, such as the URL and internal links to increase relevancy, which tells Google's algorithm in detail what your page is about, which of course improves the ranking for your target, that keyword. You'll then optimize the title and tags using a plug-in in order to further add relevancy and accurately explained to Google's algorithm what the page is about. And of course, you'll then learn how to optimize takes such as the content itself, headers, subheaders, all texts, etc. Moving onto speeding up your websites, which is one of the most fundamental SEO principles, slow loading times means that Google won't rank you. You'll first learn how to speed test your website so that you know what you're working with and what you want to aim for, then you'll learn how to do image optimizations, which is perhaps the easiest and most effective way to drastically improve loading times. So to summarize, in this practical SCO course, you'll learn how to do keyword research, create content that gets traffic. Do on-page SEO to make all parts of your website visible and to speed up your website for the best user experience which your visitors and Google loves. So in this course, you'll be learning practical SCO, and we really mean practical. Everything will be performed onscreen. You'll be taught with step-by-step guidance. So remember, the goal of the course is to learn a practical SEO training to optimize your WordPress website for traffic with keyword research, speed optimization and more. I hope you're excited. So let's dive right into it and learn about keyword research. See you in the next lecture. 3. Keyword Research Explained: Welcome back. So let's dive right into it. What is keyword research? And maybe first of all, what is a keyword? Well, a key word, it's a search phrase that is all of the words that you write into the search engine. So we're currently at, the world's biggest search engine. If I'm writing workout from home, this is a keyword, okay? So it's not three different keywords, but rather the ends higher search terms that I'm using here. All of these together is one keyword. Now if I hit Enter and search for this keyword, I'm going to get results with websites we have optimized their content to rank for this keyword. And as you can see on top, we have and not just the entire, but with a specific page that goes to health, fitness exercise at home, work out something. So it's not that the entire website is ranking for this keyword, but rather a specific page on this website. And that's exactly what keyword research is about. It's understanding what people are searching for and then creating content for that keyword and optimizing that content so that you can rank for that keyword. And this is very sensitive. Now, the keyword, this workout from home, if I just make a minor adjustment rather than saying workout, I changed it to work out just a small space. Well, that's going to change the ranking. Now we have Nerd that's ranking on top and scrolling down, we're not going to see until they appear in the third place. So a very different ranking jumping from first to third place because they aren't asked optimized to work out from home as workout from home. Now, our goal is to rank as high up in the search results as possible with keywords that people are using in their searches that are relevant with our website has to offer. Now, this is how you bring in high-quality traffic. They will want to stay, read your content and purchase your product because I guarantee you for this search term or rather keyword, they mean the same thing. Nerd is going to get a lot more traffic than this YouTube video or here. But before we start doing our keyword research and looking at how to create content so that we can rank highly for the specific keyword. We need to understand what a key word intent this, because if you understand what the intention is behind a keyword and you know what the meaning is behind the surge, you can create more specific content, which means that you're going to get more high-quality traffic, which is going to tell Google that, hey, this is a really good match and severely increase your chances of ranking on top in the search results. So let's move on to the next lecture and learn exactly what a search intent is and how to understand it. See you there. 4. Search Intent: Welcome back. So let's learn about search intent by looking at what keywords people are using in their searches, we can ask the question, why are they searching for this in order to understand the intent behind the search, okay. So if there's someone that searches for our home, workouts, really effective, for example, then notice that all of the results we're getting here are going to be websites that leads to a content page that tries to answer the question or homework that's really effective. Now the reason for this is because of all of these websites have understood the intent behind this keyword, there is a so-called curiosity intend. This search indicates that there is a question and they want that question answered and the curiosity fulfilled. And that is what all of these different search results aim to do. So that is fulfilling and intention from understanding it properly. So whenever there is a curiosity intent, you should always redirect them to a content page, okay? But if the intent is different, let's say, for example, that the key word was buy a home workout equipment. Now once again, we can ask the same question. Why are these searching for this? What is the intent behind these keyword? Well, we can tell that the intent behind this keyword is a purchase intent because it has the modifier by in the beginning. So when people are using a purchase intention in their keyword, we know that they're looking to buy something and that's why we want to direct them to a product page. Okay? So if you look at all the results for getting, all of these results are going to aim you towards either an article that is going to link you to different product or a product page directly like Amazon is doing here. And that you're going to see plenty of results like fitness factory here. Doing so by understanding what the intent is behind the key word, we can always make sure that we create content and AMR pages towards the correct keywords to get the optimal results. And if you look at the lecture name that you're currently add, there will be a tab that says resources. Now in these resources you'll get a list with different modifiers that will show you when their AC curiosity intent or a by intent, by supplying you with different so-called modifiers, for example. So if it says, Should I buy homework out equipment, now you should no longer direct this keyword towards a product page because now this has a curiosity in sand rather than a purchase intent. And different modifiers could be, when should I, is it effective to, et cetera? And different purchase intense could be words like by like we had in the beginning where it just says By home equipment, it could say purchase, cheapest, lowest price, et cetera. And we would know that all of those different modifiers are people who are searching with the intent of buying something, means that we should bring them to a product page. So now when you're armed with all of this knowledge, it's time to put it into practice. In the next lecture, you will learn how to practically do keyword research so that you will know what keywords to optimize your website for and what modifiers you should use to try to rank different parts of your website. So we will be looking at our websites such as our blog posts that we have, and also our product page to understand what sort of key words should we be using, what short modifiers should we be using? And then optimize our website from there. Hope you're excited. See you in the next lecture. Let's do some keyword research. 5. How to Keyword Research: Welcome back. So it's time to get our hands dirty and actually do the keyword research. So I'm going to be using our website, orange, a, where we sell PowerPoint templates. So what I want to do is do some keyword research that will allow me to use keywords for content on this website that can bring in some high-quality traffic that will eventually lead to purchases, okay, so I strongly recommend that you follow me step-by-step in this lecture, just pause where you need to catch up and do the same with your website. So starting off, we're going to go to Ads dot Just type that into your browser and then it's going to ask you to sign up, just go through the sign-up process and you will eventually land here. It's completely free and very fast. And if you look in the resources tab in this lecture, we have a complete tutorial for you how to quickly and easily do this, because this is where we're going to be doing our keyword research. And once again, it's completely free. So pause the video, check out the resources, and go through the setup. And when you are here than just unpause and follow me. So yours might look a little different. It doesn't matter one bit, but you're going to do is go to tools and settings, and then move on to Keyword Planner, and then click on discovering new keywords. Now, this is where the magic happens. Okay, so before we actually type in any sort of keyword in here to start looking for the stats, we're gonna do some changes. Down here it says Swedish now, I don't want to do the search in Swedish even though that's handy for me as I am Swedish, I'm going to put it into English since it's a global website, and I don't want this to be focused on Swedish searches. I want it to be global, so I am going to remove this and then I'm going to get searched for all over the world. Now if you're aiming for a US audience, you could use right United States here, but I'm not, I'm going more global by removing it and get all locations. Now remember, our website is about selling PowerPoint templates. So I'm going to start off very easily by just searching for PowerPoint templates and then see what kind of keywords that I might get from this. Okay, so here we are and there's a lot of things going on. No need to panic. What we're going to do starting off is understand that there are only two columns we need. That is the keyword column and the average monthly searches column. If you get this popping up, you can also close this one down. We don't need it. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to hover over an average monthly searches and click there to get the top searches on top. All of these other columns are about ads and we're not creating any ads. We're looking at what people are searching for and how many that are searching for that specific keyword so that we can SEO optimize our website. Now, going to the left here, we have a lot of different suggestions. And you're going to notice that some have two words as a keyword and some has three. Generally, the more words a key word has, the easier it is going to be to rank for it. Now this isn't always true, but most of the time it's true. What do you want to do is go through, well, at least most of these that fit in. For example, we might not go through Google Slides templates, but here's something that fits perfectly PowerPoint presentation templates. So I want to know, is this a good keyword or not to try to rank for? So what I'm going to do is I'm going to select it, right-click and copy it. Then I'm going to head over to Google and just paste it right in and search for it. And this is where the magic happens. Now we're going to get search results like we had before, but we're going to use a Chrome extension called MozBar. And this is going to provide a lot more data for us and give us something called page authority and domain authority. So let's quickly go through what this gives us what this is and then I'll show you how to get this yourself. Now PA stands for page authority, and it basically says how strong this specific pages in the ranking for this specific keyword, domain authority is different because it reveals how strong the entire website is for ranking for this specific keyword. As you can tell now, this the entire website slice is similar to the page itself. But if you scroll down here, you're going to notice that there's some different stats. Now the PA is the category slash free templates that they have here. Now the domain authority is going to be Slides Okay? So Slides is the domain and the page authority is going to be the specific page. This is very important because what we're looking for is to have either the page authority or the domain authority below 25. Then we know that even our week page or a weak domain can rank for this keyword, which means that then we will be able to rank for that keyword as well. Okay, before I move on, I'm going to show you how you can get this as well. Simply, all you need to do is go to the resources and I put in a link there to MozBar. Simply click on Add extension and then add it in and you'll have it activated, appeared. Then just click on it and have it activated. Now you can do this for Chrome, you can do it for brave I like to use. Really doesn't matter. Just go into Google's Chrome extension store and activated. It's super simple. It's in the resources. And once you've activated it, you're going to get something up here that says sign up. Signing up is completely free, is super-fast. Trust me, it's really worth it. So once you've installed it and sign up, you're gonna get all the stats that I'm getting. What I wanna do is once I have all this is scroll down through the entire first page and look at either a PA or ADA that's below 25, then I'm going to know that this is a good keyword. And as you can see, we're not getting that yet. Powerpoint defy has a domain authority of 28 is website is we still it's ranking in okay, on the first page. But still, if you've got a completely new website, this just isn't going to cut it. This is going to be hard to rank for. So this isn't a keeper of a keyword. If we go back, this is how we're going to be treating all of the keywords that are applicable to you. Now scrolling down, let's say that we actually find a key word that you think is going to work really well. Now, let's go for this one minimalist PowerPoint template. We can see it has 10 to a 100 K average monthly searches. Now, that's a lot of searches, right? So I'm going to copy it just like that. I'm going to go back and then use this keyword instead and a search for it. Now I'm going to go through the same procedure. We can see PA, That is the page authority, domain authority, a little high, a little high. Powerpoint define not super strong, but still too high for us. Scrolling up. Now, this is where it gets super interesting. Look at this. Ppt has a page authority of 22, which is really weak and an even weaker website and even weaker domain authority of 17. So if this website and page, both of them which are really weak result, which is result number 12345, which is absolutely incredible. That means that we will be able to as well. Okay, So this is some really good keyword to rank for. Once again, going back, we can see that this has 10 K to a 100 K monthly searches were not getting specific data. But that's not important because it has a minimum of 10 thousand searches per month. We know that we can rank on the first page to and start getting some of that traffic. So when you find that key word that you know is applicable, that you can rank for. Again, it should be below 25 on either PA or da. Then simply create an XML document. I prefer to do it on the drive. You can do it wherever you want to. This is called Google Sheets by the way. And then I'm just going to make two columns. I'm going to go into the top. I'm going to write keyword. And then in the next one I'm going to write volume, okay? Now I'm going to select this one again. I'm going to bold it. And then I'm going to move here and center it just like this. I'm gonna do the same with this one. And I bolded, then I'm going to center it and then I'm going to make these columns bigger. There we go, the volume goes there and the key which D a little bit bigger somewhere there. Okay, So now all I'm gonna do is that I'm going to paste the keyword that we used in here, minimalist PowerPoint template. And remember, the volume was 10 to a 100 K. So we're not getting specific data, but again, we don't need it. All we need to know is that it has a good volume and that we can rank for it. So make sure that you create your own Excel. It's just called keyword research and then one called keyword, one called volume I writing what the keyword is, writing what the volume is. And that's really all there is to it. Keep going through all of these results that you have garden and save down all of the applicable keywords that you know that you'll be ranking for. Then later on we're going to look at aiming it for content generation so we can start ranking our content for the keywords and maybe even angling some product page has towards specific keywords. But we're going to start off by actually creating content for this keyword. But before we do that, make sure that you create your keyword research document in Excel simply on a Google Drive, have the MozBar installed, do proper keyword research. And in the next lecture, I'll show you how to get even more keywords. Well done, make sure you have at least one key word before moving onto the next lecture. Super well done. See you in the next lecture. 6. Competitor Keyword Research: Welcome back. So you found your first key word. Congratulations. Now in this lecture you'll learn how to find even more key words by looking at what your competitors are ranking for. Okay, so if we look at our website now, this website is about PowerPoint templates, okay, so what we can do is we can go back to Keyword Planner here. We can go back from the search that we just did. Once again, click on discovering new key words and this time move over to start with our website. So the question is, what kind of website do we want to use? And start looking at keywords from, well, what we can do is go to and then use a generic search terms such as PowerPoint templates. Now we want to rank for PowerPoint templates. And in order to do that, There's a lot of keywords that we can use to start building up authority, just like all of these websites have. And this one has done the best job. So we want to understand what different keywords is this website using and ranking highly four, because this is a short key word and it's also a very competitive one because it's so direct. So what I'm going to do is look at what other keywords is ranking for by copying the address, right-click on it, cope billing address. Go back to Keyword Planner and then I'm going to paste it in. And this is important. Use only this page because it's not that the entire website is ranking on top for the search term, but just this page specifically, so we only want to find the top keywords for this page here. So I'm going to go back and then click on Get Results. So now we're getting a bunch of keywords that this specific page is ranking for. So the first thing we want to do as usual is go to average monthly searches and put the top searches on top. Now chances are it's going to be hard to rank for these very short keywords like slide. But if you scroll down and start going through, what are you going to be able to rank for? Chances are you're going to find especially these longer tail keywords asked to recall like this one background for PowerPoint presentation. You're going to find these keywords where you can imagine, okay, I could create content for creating backgrounds for PowerPoint presentations. This is actually a real good one. And because it has four words rather than just three or two or one, it's called long-tail keyword. It's probably going to be easy to rank for, but there's only one way to verify that. So we're going to copy it. We're going to go back to Google, remove this, and paste in the new one, hit search, and then once again scroll down, start looking at page authority and domain authority. Scrolling down, still pretty high. But when we get here, we get something called free PowerPoint has, you can see that domain is actually week, it's only at 25. Now the page is a little bit stronger, but that doesn't matter. This still signals to us that despite having such a week website, they're able to rank for this keyword, which means that since we have a weak website in newly started website, chances are, we're also going to be able to rank for this keyword. This is amazing. It's at 25, It's not below 25, but it's still good to be at 25. That's still valid. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to use this keyword going back background for PowerPoint presentation, 10 K to a 100 K. I'm going to go back to my Google Sheets. Go down here. I'm just going to paste it in and it has the same volume. So I'm just going to write 10 to a 100 K. There we go. Now suddenly we have two keywords. One that's pulled from a generic keyword that we search for PowerPoint templates and another from our competitors. So there are many different ways to find keywords. But even with just these two ways, you will find more than enough keywords to start bringing in high-quality traffic to start getting more sales or whatever results you're looking for on your website. In the next lecture, we're going to start looking at content creation, so we can start putting these keywords that we have found into action, create content around them so we can start getting traffic. Hope you're excited to see you in the next lecture. 7. Content Creation Explained: Welcome to the content creation section. Now in this lecture we're going to look at what content creation actually is and how it works. Now you might already know what a piece of content is. If you've got a website and you've ever published a blog post before, you'll know that your piece of content is simply your blog post when it comes to your website. But this isn't just about writing an article and hitting publish. This section is about understanding what information you should be creating and why you should be creating it. So we're going to take a deeper look at that. So to start from a visitor's point of view, Let's take it from the very beginning. Let's say that I'm interested in designing my own PowerPoint. So I'm going to go to Google and search for how to design a PowerPoint presentation and then hit Search. Now since this is a curiosity intent, they are going to need to match it there content that they've created with my key words intent. So my intention here is to learn how to design a PowerPoint presentation. And if you become really good at understanding the intent barren keywords, you'll know that this isn't mechanic. Now, most people who want to simply create the PowerPoint are going to write how to create a PowerPoint. But how to design a PowerPoint means how to make it look good. That is my actual intention, looking down the first search result is from Microsoft and that's a given create a presentation in PowerPoint. This isn't what I'm looking for. I'm looking at making it exceptional. So scrolling down the first website we see is 14 PowerPoint presentation tips to make more creative. Well, something else that's not included here, but this is enough to get me interested. It's ranking highly. I get 14 PowerPoint presentation tips. That's it. I'm going to click, since I'm now on HubSpot website and I'm reading their article. They have successfully managed to match my keyword search. That is my keywords intense with their content. The next question is, why have they created this content and attracted me as traffic? It's not from the good of their heart. And the first thing you see when you land on their website, It's going to be very revealing. Now the first thing we see here is the title 14 PowerPoint presentation tips to make more creative slide shows. They've done a fantastic job ranking for these keywords, matching my intent. Then next thing we see is get for free PowerPoint templates. Now, for me, who's interested in designing PowerPoint templates, this is very attractive because this is a shortcut and something that I'm interested in clicking on. So let's just keep this in mind for now that they have a clickable button here with free PowerPoint templates scrolling down. Once again, free download for PowerPoint presentation templates, okay, and another download now, scrolling down, we have the content itself. Now this is why I'm here from the beginning. This is why I initially did this search and clicked on this link to get this content. But before they even start four times, they've tried to make me click and get their beautiful PowerPoint templates. Okay, Scrolling down now I'm getting to the content, but if I continue to scroll down, Oh, there we have a pop-up coming into the side. And if I scroll all the way down to, let's say the bottom, I'm going to guess. Yep, there we go. Featured resource for free PowerPoint templates. So the question we're asking ourselves is, why have they created this content? Well, clearly they're doing a really good job and a hard job in trying to get me to click on their free PowerPoint templates. The next question is, if they've created this piece of content to attract traffic and have that traffic click and get their PowerPoint templates. Why? Well, let's click and find out. Okay, So I get the free download how to create beautiful PowerPoint, fantastic. Just what I'm looking for the completely understood why I'm here and why I did my search download now for free, and here we go. So in order to download, I need to sign up with my name, my email address. And this is the important part because they have my e-mail address, they can contact me again, build a relationship with me, and then tried to sell me something. So this is the important part that you need to understand when it comes to content creation. Simply creating content and attracting traffic isn't enough. You always need to have a goal. And the goal is almost always going to be to monetize the traffic that you're getting, whether it is by capturing a lead like they're doing here on HubSpot, selling something directly, adding an affiliate link, or moving the traffic to the next and next blog post so that they can show more ads and make money that way. Okay, there are two parts to this. Number 1, properly understanding the intent which they've done a fantastic job with. They've generated a fantastic content idea that matched my intent. So that's the first thing we need to learn how to do generate great content ideas. And the second is have a goal in mind. Understand why we're creating this content. What do we want to do with this traffic? So this can't be said enough to summarize, creating website content around well-researched keywords means that that content will rank and generate traffic. And that's exactly what we saw happen here. They're ranking and because of this, they're generating traffic. Now you need to make sure that your plan ahead on what you want to do with that traffic. And that's why in the next lecture, we're going to look at some content ideas and then look at how to monetize those ideas on the website that we have. So I hope you're excited and I hope you now understand why there's so much content on the web. See you in the next lecture. 8. Generate Content Ideas: Welcome back. In this lecture, you will learn how to generate content ideas because simply adding in keywords and creating a post about it isn't enough. Once you've understood the intent behind the keyword, you will want to generate content are rounded. That includes the keyword. Okay? So when we include the keyword will make the search engines happy and they rank us. But now we also need to have great content ideas so that when we do rank, visitors actually want to click on our search result in enter our website. This is how we generate traffic. We need to make the search engine and the visitors happy. Okay, so in order to generate some great content ideas, we're going to head over to our Google Spreadsheet or Excel document or whatever you decided to use. Now, you should have at least one keyword in here. If you've been following the course, if you've been on a serious role, you might have multiple keywords, which, if so, well done, That's awesome. If you have at least one, that's absolutely perfect. So I'm just going to click here and then click on Command C. If you're on a Windows, it's Control C and copy it, then I'm going to head over to Google. So now what we're going to do is that we are going to add in our keyword in Google and then get some or two suggestions, okay, there are two main ways to get some great suggestions when it comes to generating ideas. And the first is just letting Google tell you what people are searching for. So I'm going to click here. I'm going to paste the key word in and hit space. And what we see here is the search terms that people have been using in connection with the keyword minimalist PowerPoint template. Now this is fantastic news because we know that we have a chance of ranking for this keyword. And here are some things that people are searching for, meaning, suggested content, ideas. So the first thing that comes to mind for me when I say minimalist PowerPoint template free download is that we could create an article around minimalist PowerPoint templates on how they can design and customize their own and then get a free download. So they want a free download will give it to them and we'll also give them the ability to customize that free download. And of course, remember, we need to have a goal behind our content. And that might be to either get them as a lead, that is trade for their e-mail address or try to push them to one of our products. Okay, so that's just one idea that I'm getting from here. And that's using Google and writing in our keyword and then hitting space just like this. And then we're going to get all the search terms that people are using. Now we can do the very same thing with YouTube, because YouTube and Google are actually from the same company. You might already know this, but it also means that Google shows youtube results. So basically, since these are similar search engines, that means that all of the great ideas that you can generate from YouTube, you could rank for in Google. So if I do the very same thing here, I paste it in and then search. Now when I click here, I'm going to get some additional suggestions like animated PowerPoint template aesthetic slides, free templates. So we're getting this free template popping up once again, okay, Shopee PowerPoint templates, steadies, elegance, and some name I don't know. And we can of course, also scroll through these results 10 best minimal PowerPoint templates, elegant, minimal. How to design a clean, how to make minimalist, et cetera. And very similarly, we've gotten all the results here. What we can do is that we can go ahead and just search for this right away. Or we can even click on the Free Download and then scroll down and look at what these content ideas are. So the important part is that it includes the key word and that the content ideas match their intent. Okay, so what I'm gathering from this research is that they want if free template, but they also want to learn how to customize it themselves. So a content ideas, for example, could be, if I write it down, load three minimalist PowerPoint template and then right within the brackets here, customizable. So we're going to use this idea. I'm really happy with this from the research people really want to download one for free. We're going to create content around that. And then we decide if we either want to make them into a lead or push them towards a product, and we are going to push them towards our product at 12 PowerPoint templates we have on our website. So now it's your turn to do the very same thing. Move over into your Google Spreadsheets. Take the keywords that you have added in here and then just hit space and look at what people are searching for. Scroll through the results, get some content ideas and remember to match the keyword and the content idea with their intent. Once you've done that and you have a content idea here, we're going to use this one. Then you're ready to move on to the next lecture. Fantastic. See you in the next lecture. 9. Create Content: Welcome back. So now that you understand the goal of content creation and you have generated your content idea, it's time to actually create your content. So to do this, we're going to start at that backend of our WordPress websites, and then we're going to move over to posts and then Add New. So the first thing we're going to do is add in our title. And of course the title is going to be the content idea we found in the previous lecture. So in this case it's going to be download free. List, power point, Tim, Tim, late, customer, mice. There we go. So this is a title you right in the title that you found in the previous lecture. Now, when it comes to creating the content itself, I'm not here to tell you what you should be writing. You are going to be the expert on your subject in your niche. Okay, So I've already prepared some content and I'm just going to paste it in. What's going to be important here isn't what you arrive. It's how you write it and how you format it. So we're going to have a quick look at the content itself here and why it's so important that you format things correctly. So I'm going to move over to preview and then preview new tab. So Google is all about great user experience and great user experience means that your content needs to be easy to read. Which means that for every sentence that you make, that ends with a punctuation, this little dot here, you should make a new paragraph and make some space in between. This is going to make the whole thing so much easier to read. And because of that, Google is going to reward you with a higher ranking By formatting your post correctly, you are going to get better SCO, okay, so I'm already going to assume that you understand how to match your content with the keywords intense. So we have done that with this article and we have fulfilled their curiosity. Now we need to make this easily digestible. So what we're looking at is make space in between the paragraphs so it's easy to read. Make sure that you add in plenty of images whenever suitable, because that breaks the whole text and it makes your content easier to consume and make sure that you're using headers. Headers, splits up your entire content pieces and make them so much more consumable. So this is super easy to consume. And if we go all the way down to the bottom, remember, we always need to have a goal with our content. And of course here we're offering a free minimalist PowerPoint template that they can download here. But then also here, we're trying to direct them to our products. Check out the professional 12 pack PowerPoint templates here, okay, so the goal with this content is to push them towards our product. Now, the problem is if you don't form at this, accordingly, meaning spaces in between adding in images and making some great headers. It's going to look something like this. So when you do bad formatting and there's no space in between, notice how terrible this history, this is just one big blob of text. There's still an image. Sure. And this looks okay. Now this, again, it's intimidating to look at. It's not something that's, you feel invited to read and going down, look at this big piece. There are no headers, there's no space between the paragraphs. It's an absolute mess. Two things are gonna happen. Google are going to say, Hey, you haven't formatted this and they're going to punish you SCL wise. And people who go in here and I say, No, I'm not reading this. So they're going to leave your website, which tells Google that, Hey, your website isn't really that good. We're not going to rank it highly. So it's super-important and you make sure that your website is properly formatted and looks like this, okay, making plenty of spaces in between. So whenever you write any form of sentence down here, Let's say that this is a finished Centers hit Enter. There's going to be some space in between, super-important. And when it comes to content length, There's no real set rule, but you should be around and above 500 words in total. And you can easily check that out by going into the details up here and seeing how many words you have used if you are at 500 or above, you should be good. So what I want you to do is write your content, make sure that it's properly formatted, okay, that is easy to digest. And then in the next section and in the upcoming lectures, we are going to SEO optimize this entire piece so that we can start ranking. Hope you're excited to see you in the next lecture. 10. On-Page SEO Explained: Welcome to the on-page SEO section of the course. Now, on-page SEO is about optimizing your site so that Google's algorithm knows exactly what your site is about. So any changes that we make on this website in order to improve its visibility in the search engines is called on page SCO. Okay, So our goal right here is to make sure that this article, this blog post, if we're writing, is going to appear in the search results for when someone's searching for minimalist PowerPoint template. We know this is a good keyword because we've already done the research and know that it gets 10 thousand to a 100 thousand searches per month. Okay, So what we need to do is optimize this end high your post to make sure that Google knows that it's about minimalist PowerPoint templates so that we can appear in the search results for minimalist PowerPoint template. And so far the only optimizations we have done is to set the title, which we have here, the very key word. And we've also formatted our posts so that it has a grade reading experience. Remember, use your experience is super important for Google. But we need to do further optimizations in order for Google's algorithm to properly understand that this is about minimalist PowerPoint templates. And we should appear with this specific page as a search result for when someone searches for minimalist PowerPoint template. So let's start doing our own page optimizations, starting with the URL. See you in the next lecture. 11. URL: Welcome back. So it's time to optimize the URL. The URL is the specific name of your post, and it's one of the first things that Google's algorithm we'll look at in order to understand what your post is about. Finding it is super easy by going to the right and looking at where it says perma links, we can click here and then we're going to get the URL slug. So this is the URL that we're talking about. Now the name of our website is r and J And then when you see the forward slash, this is the URL, and we want this URL to include our keywords. Now there's a couple of important points that we need to make her. But first and foremost, if your URL doesn't look like this, if there are any dates are strange numbers or something similar, we need to change that right away. And the way to do that is by going up here and opening the link in a new tab so that we get to the backend of your website. And then we're going to go to the dashboard to the left, scroll down and then go until we see Settings and then go and click on permalink. Now we need to make sure that under permanent links and common settings, we have post name selected. And that is because we want the URL to say slash and then post name. We don't want it to say slash archives or have slashed the date and then the sample posts or just a bunch of random numbers. This is an important SCO factor. The cleaner your link can be, and the more to the point regarding the keyword it can be, the more Google will trust it and understand what your post is about. So make sure that you select Post Name, scroll down and click on save changes. Okay, so I'm going to close this and let's head back. So in order to optimize this URL slug, there are two things we need to think about. Number 1, don't make it too long. Google's algorithm doesn't trust long URL slugs. So for example, we have the words Download and then there's a dash, free. Now these are unnecessary words. They're not a part of our keywords and they don't really add anything during important than the title for this human eyes to wants to click, but not for the search engine. So what I'm gonna do is I'm simply going to delete those. And now it says minimalist PowerPoint template, customizable. I'm going to delete that word as well. So remember, if you want to add in something in the URLs, like you need to do a dash like this, because if you do a space is just not going to work it, it breaks the URL, so you always need to use this dash marks. Okay? So I'm only going to include the keywords in the URL. So make it as short as you can while still making sure that you have your keywords included. Trying to stuff it with as many keywords as possible. That is a sure fire way to get an SEO penalty because Google WAN trusted. Now the second thing is don't repeat key words. Okay, so our website is called Orange a templates. But if our website was called, for example, then I wouldn't need to use the word PowerPoint here, even though it's a keyword because that key where we would already be in our domain name. Okay, So if you have a domain name that includes one of your keywords, then don't include that keyword in the URL Slug, because then you'll have a repeated key word. And Google doesn't like that. It looks fishy to Google, okay, because we have written orange a templates as one word, Google's algorithm isn't going to recognize this word as a template, okay, otherwise we would have removed it, but now we're going to keep it. So remember, make it short and make sure that it only includes your key words. And then make sure that the keywords are repeated in any way and doesn't conflict with your domain name. And that's all there is to optimizing the URL quick, easy and fast, but, oh, so important. Let's move on to the next lecture and learn how to SEO our title tag. See you in the next lecture. 12. SEO Title Tag: Welcome back. In this lecture, we're going to optimize our SEO title tag. So remember, just follow me step-by-step and let's do it together. But first things first, what on earth is an ASCO title tag? Well, when you make a search on Google, you get a bunch of search results. That's no surprise. But the way the search results looked like, That's called the SEO title tag. So basically, this is the ACL title tags. So we want to be in complete control over how our website and the specific page that we're trying to rank with is going to look like in this search result because that's going to affect our ranking factors that we can include our keyword, but it's also going to affect our human factor with making our page more attractive for visitors to want to click on it so that we get traffic. So we will be able to optimize our SEO title tag and also this piece called the snippet. Now sometimes in the search results you get additional links. This is beyond our control. We can control this is completely at random which Google's algorithm decide to do this with. So we're not going to care about this, but this snippet we want to control and the SEO title tag we want to control. So to do this, we need to download a plugin because we can't do this by default. So make sure that you save the draft for any changes that you've done in here. And once it's saved, let's go to backend for websites. And then we're going to go down until we find plugins, click on Add new. And now we're going to search for Yoast. Sounds almost like toast butter without y. There we go. And here is the plug-in, Yoast SEO. This is an amazing plugin to help your entire website with its SEO. So we're going to click on Install Now and then activates. Awesome. So now it's activated. We're going to do is go back to Posts, click on All Posts. And then we're going to go back into the article we were working on. Click on edit. And now if we look to your right, we have an Yoast SEO tab right here. So we're not going to use this one specifically. We're going to fold it down. But if we scroll all the way to the bottom, we have this Yoast SEO, another bigger tablet. We have a lot more control. So let's go through step-by-step what this is and what it does. First things first we have the SCO part and we have the readability part. We have the schema is social. We're not going to use these, anything. We're gonna go through them one by one so you understand what they are though, starting with SEO, going down, we have the focus key phrase. So we're telling this plug-in, what is the keyword that we want to focus on so that they can look through our entire content piece and say, okay, you need to optimize this or that. So this is your free guidance SEO wise. So we know our minimalist PowerPoint template keyword, right? So we're gonna write that in and then click away somewhere. And then later on we're gonna get some data and that data is down here, so we're gonna go through that in just a second. But starting off, if you're following step-by-step with me, writing your focus key phrase here and key phrase is your keyword. So just write it in and then going down, we have the Google preview. If it doesn't look like this for you, it might be folded. So then just click on it and open it up. We can see the mobile results and the desktop results doesn't matter. What we want to do is optimize this and this is the search results. So this is currently what it looks like. And we're talking about these sort of search results and we want to be able to edit them and get more control. Okay, so the first thing we're going to notice is the title itself. Now it says download free minimalist PowerPoint template, okay, customizable. And then it says R and D. Then it's not everything is included here. But the problem is this slug is just too big because not everything is included and that's not perfect for our SEO. So if we want to be more straight to the point, what we can do if you notice that this is just completely fall is scroll all the way up. Go ahead and grab our title here, and then I'm just going to copy it, scroll down, and then I'm going to remove all of these just like that poof. They're gone and then I'm going to paste it in. So now you'll notice that this is green and everything is fully visible. It's not super important that we have the actual title in here. Now if we wanted a title, we could insert a variable like the title, like this. So it says orange a templates. I don't think that's important. So a basic rule of thumb here, if this is on the red, then just go up and grab the title, remove everything here and paste it in. And if it's on the green, then you honestly don't really need to change this up. The only thing that's important is that the SEO title includes your keyword because that's the main SEO ranking factor. Scrolling down, we have the slug now we already worked on the slug, right. It's hears in the permalink, so that is changed in, that is optimized. Then we have the meta-description. Now, meta description is this box in here and in the search results were talking about this piece of text going on right here. Now there are different ways to do this. Could include the keyword, though google has said that is not an actual ranking factor, but in my experience, it's still a good idea to include the keyword, even if just for the human eyes. So I'm going to add something in here like this. Designing takes time, focused on what's important, your presentation. Download the minimalist PowerPoint template for free tutorial included. And it makes sure that this is on the green and you should be all good to go. Once again, Google has said that you don't actually need to include the keyword here is not a ranking factor, but it can still be a good idea because visitors, the actual humans reading this, are going to recognize what these search for in here and that itself can lead to more people clicking on it. So I still prefer to do it. So now we have optimized SEO title tag and the snippet. Perfect. Now let's look through some additional things in this amazing plugin. First, we have the SEO analysis. Now the SEO analysis is going to tell us what our problem actually is. For example, key phrase. Remember key phrase is keyword. Key phrase introduction your key phrase and its synonyms do not appear in the first paragraph. Make sure the topic is clear immediately. Density that focus key phrase was found one time that's less than the recommended minimum of two times the length of the text. And then subheading, use more key phrases or synonyms in your H2 and H3 subheadings, H2 and H3 being these headers. Okay, So basically what it's telling us now is that we should be using the keyword much more. And they are keyword of course, being minimalist PowerPoint template. So as you can see, it says your key phrase or a synonymous does not appear in the first paragraph. Make sure the topic is clear immediately. So if I scroll up here and it says PowerPoints aren't known for being the most fun subject in the world. But when it comes to presentations, certainly one of the most important. So I could add in API such as there is certainly one of the most important and using a minimalist PowerPoint template, one of the ECS, two. So now it says PowerPoints aren't known for being the most fun subject in the world, but when it comes to presentations, they're certainly one of the most important. And using a minimalist PowerPoint template, one of the ECS to make sure I only have one punctuation. Okay, so now I've actually updated the text. If I scroll down and check this out, look, then that problem disappeared. So in just a second ago we had three problems. Now we only have one and as you can see, now we solve that problem and is only having one part that's red. So we're not going to spend all of the time of optimizing all of these, but just to show you how easy it is now to optimize your content with this plugin. So then I would go ahead and add in the keyword into the subheadings as well. The subheadings being, well, these ones, these headers, okay? So this is how you read and get feedback from the content you have, read them and just follow the recommendations. And that's it. We don't need to touch anything down here. Now, when it comes to readability, we need to take this with a grain of salt. It has things like using a passive voice, sentence length, you can get some good guidance, but these aren't quite as important. These are more abstract. But again, there are good guidelines. Should you be using too long paragraphs, et cetera. Now, schema, we don't need to play with this and the social. We can optimize this if you want a different look for when we share it on Facebook, et cetera. But we don't need to play with this. The real key here is getting the SCO parts so that you can get feedback on your content and optimizing your SEO title tag. So once you've done this, you've done some huge optimizations on this page and you will have a much, much, much higher chance of ranking for your given keyword. Well done, don't forget to click on save draft. See you in the next lecture. 13. Page Title: Welcome back. Now let's have a quick look at the page title, since we've already researched our keywords and then come up with a content idea to match the content that we have written down here with the searchers intent, the page titles should be all set and good. But it is super important that you do understand that the page title itself is one of the most important parts for Google to understand what this page or post, post in this case is all about. So you want to make sure that you do include the keywords in your page title and that you do have a page title that properly reflect the content. Because if you have a title that's very different from the content, then you're going to have people who enter your website. They're going to say, hey, this isn't what I was looking for. And then they're going to exit your website and that's called a bounce. And the higher your bounce rate is, the worst SEO you get. So the more people you get and the longer they stay, the better SCO you get and the higher you will rank. So make sure that you do have a post title that properly reflects what your content is about, that it does include the keyword and then honestly you should be all good to go. Okay, let's move on to the next optimization, which is the alt text. See you in the next lecture. 14. Alt Text: Welcome back. So let's optimize the alt text. Now the all text is the description that you can add to every image on your website. You can easily find it by going through the content, clicking on the image, and then looking to the right, you'll see a box where it says image settings. Down there you have the so-called old text. Now it's designed for those with poor vision who can't properly see what the image is. So the alt text function is to describe what the image is and what it is about. And also if for some reason the image doesn't load for your visitors, then this takes you right in here, will be displayed instead of the image. Now, for our intents and purposes, they all taste is also used by Google's algorithm to understand your images better, which helps the algorithm understand what your post is all about. Which of course makes it super important for on-page SEO to help you ranked. So what we are going to do is optimize this all takes on our images. So what is this image? Well, this is of course, I'm a minimalist PowerPoint template. So we're going to try to describe what this image is. And I'm going to write a minimalist PowerPoint template. Now I'm not just writing that it is a PowerPoint template because I'm of course looking to include the keyword to further tell Google search engine that hey, this post is really is about minimalist PowerPoint templates. Okay, so that's optimized very quick and easy. Scrolling down to the next one. This one has instructions, it has a tutorial attached. So I'm going to write a mini model is PowerPoint template with instructions, okay? And then scrolling down, we have this one. This is the product we're trying to sell, and this is a 12 pack with minimalist PowerPoint templates. And there we go. So now we have optimized all of our, all take super-quick, super easy, but it's just one of many ways to further tell Google's algorithm over and over and over what your post is about because it really needs to be assured that it's ranking you correctly and this is the way to do it. Well down, remember to click on save draft, and then we'll move on to the next lecture and learn about internal links super-important. See you in the next lecture. 15. Internal Links: Welcome back. Let's continue our optimizations, moving on to internal links. Now, what are the internal links are links inside your post or page that links to other posts or pages on your website. For SEO reasons, this is super important because it increases something called relevancy. Now, relevance is basically about convincing Google's algorithm that your post or page posts in this case is relevant to the key word that they are using in their search. Okay, so first of all, let's understand what an internal link is. Now this is all of the content we have right here. Let's say that I wanted to turn this word that says PowerPoints into an internal link. All I would do is market, just like this. And then I would click on this little link button right here. It looks like a gem, so I'm going to click on it and then you can add in a URL. So what I would do here if I wanted this specific part to lead to the download of the PowerPoints, I would type in that URL or INJ slash free PowerPoint templates, okay, if that was the URL and in order to make them downloadable, of course, just go into your media library and upload them there and then take that link. So then I would just hit Enter. And now as you can see, this is an internal link. So when visitors come here and click on this, it's going to take them to another part of our page, super-important to have a relevant internal link. And if you want to remove an internal link, you just click up here and it goes away. Now what we want to do, since we're doing a blog post about minimalist PowerPoint templates, remember, that's our keyword. We need to commence Google's algorithm that that's what the post is really about, that it's truly relevant. In order to do this, we need to have internal links that reflects this. So scrolling down to here, for example, where it says Click here to learn more. This is about trying to sell our product. Now I don't just wanted to say click here to learn more, but rather I want to include some sort of keywords. So for, instead of curriculum to learn more, I might, let's start off by unlinking this and then write something like click here to learn more about the 12 eggs or point templates, okay? And then I'm going to mark all of this and then I'm going to link it to the product itself. I already know the URL for R and D slash products slash 12 x PowerPoint templates. There we go. So now it's properly links. So you want to include the keyword. So even though this isn't our full keyword, which is the minimalist PowerPoint template. Because this isn't a minimalist PowerPoint template, we can still use the key words or part of the keywords, PowerPoint templates, okay, this is still going to tell Google that it's relevant to PowerPoint templates and is going to help our SCO and scrolling down. Finally, once again we have internal LinkedIn is don't forget to download the free minimal is PowerPoint template here. I'm going to want to shorten this down, so I'm going to break the link and I'm just going to write load free PowerPoint, minimalist him plates like that. And then I'm going to mark it. I'm going to link INJ slash free PowerPoint template. And there we go. So this is what you want to do with all of the posts and on all of the pages that you have, add internal links. And all of the internal links, once again, links to some post or page inside your website. This link, for example, that goes to Open, that's called an external link. And that's very different. We're talking about internal links linking to your website. So to summarize, you need to use internal links and they should include your keyword and they shouldn't be too long. Tried to get more to the point free PowerPoint minimalist template. And once you've done this, that's all there is to it and you've done some fantastic on-page SEO. Now, let's move on to the next section of the course and learn about speeding up your website, which is so important to rank properly. Google is all about great user experience. So click on save draft and I'll see you in the next lecture and section of the course. 16. Speed Test Website: Welcome back. So Google is all about great user experience and there's nothing worse than a slow loading website. And because of this, page, loading speed has been a major SEO factors since 2010. The general guideline is your website should be loading below three seconds or you'll likely get an SEO penalty. Okay, so knowing this, we want our website to load below three seconds and in order to find out how fast or slow or website is, we need to measure it. So we're going to go into a site called it GT Now, this will be in the resources. And then what we want to do is just grab our URL right here and mark everything and then copy it, go back here and paste it in. Now, before I go ahead and click on Analyze, I just want you to know that you don't need to sign up to run this. You can run it straight off the bat. But if you do sign up, which is completely free, you get to change the location of the testing. So by default is going to be using a Chrome browser and tested in Canada. Okay, now, I wouldn't change the Chrome browser browser because most people are using it anyway. But if you know that you're going to get the majority of traffic from the US, or at least that's where you're targeting. It's a good idea just to have a free account is you can click on this and change it to the US because then you get a much more accurate measure. So that's all there is to it. Decide to sign up or don't sign up completely up to you at any rate, you can still run this. So paste in your URL here, just the way that you find it up here from your website. And then let's check it out and analyze. Okay, so here we are and we've gotten some results. So first of all, we've got an a B grade. We would like to upgrade that to an a grade, of course, but this isn't what's the most important scrolling down, looking at fully loaded time, this is what's important. So we know that we need to be below three seconds to have the best possible user experience and not get an SEO penalty. And we're just at that threshold where 2.9 seconds. So to understand what's taking so long for this website to load, we can check that out. So if we scroll down, the first thing we want to look at is going to be the page details. So as you can see, the total page size is 1.3 megabytes. Preferably you want to be below a one megabyte. Now this might be okay if you have a fully loaded time that's lower and you still have a bigger size. You're using more images, but we aren't using that many images. So as you can see, the images are by far the ones taking up the most space. So then naturally, the next question is, what kind of images is it that's taking up so much space is, and all of the images are just a few That's extra large. So in order to find out, we're going to scroll up and click on Waterfall, and then we're going to move over and click on images. So looking around, we can see right here the sizes of the different images. Now, the guideline for your images is that they generally shouldn't be Bob, 100 or a 150 kilobytes. And as you can see, first of all, looking at this one, declare review, it says here it's 65 kilobyte. Now, that's fine. It's not a huge size. But if we go to our website and we scroll down and look at Claire's review image. It's a really, really small image. So this time the image is taking up 65 kilobytes, which is pretty huge. Because if we go back and we compare it to something else, we can see that the template mock-up is 62. So basically this little image is taking up as much space as to these huge mockup image. And that just ain't right. We want to make sure that we minimize this so it's not taking up this much space. Okay, if we go back and have another look, we can see that the blog background is taking up 550 kilobyte, going back and scrolling down, this is the blog background, so that's just way, way, way too much. So by minimizing your images sizes, you get to cut down significantly on your loading time. So that's exactly what we're going to do. Do your own analyze, check out. If you have some big images, most likely you're going to have that and then go into waterfall images and then find all of the images that you need to be checking out. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to decide that declare review, the jockey review, and then the blog background image. Those three I want to optimize now even though the template mock-up is almost as big, this is a very important image, is at the, above the fold section. One of the first thing they'll see M because it's so big, 60 plus kilobyte, no problem whatsoever. So what we're going to optimize this jockeys, this joy camps and Claire's review, and then the blog image background. So do your own analyze, find which images that you need to optimize. And then I'll see you in the next lecture. 17. Image Optimization: Welcome back. So we've speed tested our website and you know, it's good, it's below three seconds. It's definitely not degrade. There is room for improvement and that's exactly the improvement we're going to be making. We checked out the waterfall and we know that some of our images are too big. And in our case, those images are going to be the reviews, both of these review images and the blog background. And hopefully you've found your images taking too much space as well. Now what we're going to do is go to image This will be in the resources, and this is very simple and straight forward from here we're going to click on upload files. And then I'm going to find my files and I'm just going to select all of them on a Mac, I can select one and then hold command, select another one, and then the blog background here. All three, if you're on a PC, I believe is control, and then just click on Open. So what's going to happen here is that all of these or most of them at least get compressed by themselves. So I wouldn't change anything in these. You can click on it and see what the difference is. So this is still original. If we look here to the left is the original and this is the version when it is compressed. So I'm basically not seeing any difference whatsoever, but the size has gone from a 103 kilobyte, 235 kilobytes, which is pretty huge. So this is a great compression. Now, the blog background for whatever reason didn't get a compression at all. So it's still just way, way too big. So we can manually do our compression. And we're going to do that simply by pulling down the quality until we find the level that we think looks good. So if I pull it down to say 50, we can have a look at what it looks like now, there's no way to minimize this image, I'm afraid, so we just have to do this style. So if we look at the glass as well, there's no big difference here, right? And a 185 kilobyte is still way too big, especially since it's not taking up the entire screen. So I'm going to go down and change it to, let's say 35. So now it's at a 134. Now we're starting to see some quality difference or at least I think I am. So I'm going to settle with this since it is not a huge image, but still a 134, it's a good size for a background image. Okay. Just as long as it's not above a 150, I'm going to click on Apply. Now scroll up and just click on Download File and then Save. So now all I'm going to do is just find where I saved it for me. It's just on a desk, so I'm going to click on it twice. That's just going to sit bit because it turns out your zip file, I'm going to remove that is slightly different on a PC. And here we have the new files. Okay, So it's been saved this already. So let's go back to our website and just change these up. Okay, so what I'm going to do is that I'm going to go to my homepage. And since all of those images are there, and then I'm going to click on edit with Elementor because we're using Elementor. And then I'm going to scroll down and I'm going to start changing these images. So first we have a color, I'm going to click on Choose image. I'm going to upload a new file. It's an image compressor. And there we have clear, much smaller size, perfect. And then insert media. Same thing here with you again, I'm going to go back to item one to item to change the image, upload and then Insert. And I'm seeing literally no difference in quality, but a big difference in size. Scrolling down, same thing with the black background picture. I'm going to click here on the side. Go to Style, go to choose Image, Upload, Select, choose to new background image, go down to Insert media. And there we go. And now I'm going to click on update, and let's head back here. So now when we have updated all of this, what we want to do is just go to the right here and click on retest. So the results are in and it's looking good. We now got an a grade. We're at 99 percent in the performance, but most importantly, are fully loaded. Time has gone down to 2.3 seconds. Awesome. Now, to verify that the changes actually took place, we need to go to waterfall and then clicking on images and then make sure that the sizes are actually smaller here. Now you're seeing this is one quick video, but for this update, I actually had to wait an hour before these changes took place. And the reason for that is your website exists on multiple servers all across the world. And these additional servers, for example, there's a server in the US. It takes a little longer for that server to get all of the new data that changes you make on your website. So if you're not seeing any changes in the results, go in and check the images and see that they have actually done that test on your newly updated website. Some additional things you're going to want to know about speed testing your website. First of all, you are going to get mixed results every time. And the reason for that are plentiful. The test itself is run through a Chrome browser. And there are many different variables such as, what server are they using, how fastest that server being are you using shared hosting? If so, it's also going to depend on how many people are actually using the Internet connection itself. There are multiple variables that is going to change your results every single time if you're getting a sudden test and you noticed that your loading speed goes up to four seconds. Well, don't panic. Do a couple of more test and see if it goes down. And one more thing to notice if there's ever any issue with your website, you can go into the waterfall and just see what it and go to all and just have a look at what is taking so long to load something, you're probably going to see is this Imax loading quite slowly. You can see it right here. And what this is is a part of the WooCommerce plug-in. Okay. In is taken 1.4 seconds to load. Now this isn't anything to worry about because if we scroll up and we'll look at the total loading time, it's below three seconds, and the time for when the website is actually useable, the user experience itself is around 1 second. And you can see that on the total onload time and the time to interactive, the times before you can actually use decide itself. So if this is taking longer to load in the background, it really doesn't matter one bit. What's important is that your entire website is fully loaded under three seconds and its functional as quickly as possible and where functional at about 1 second here. Fantastic. A final note to tell you. I have tried and experimented with so many different plugins to optimize the website speed. And I haven't found a single plug-in that actually improves the website speed. So that's why we're not going to be installing any additional plug-ins to improve the speed because all of them that I've tested, every single one actually slow down the website. So that's why we're going with the true and tried. We're optimizing our images were running a speed test. We're seeing the results and right now we have a super effective website. It's loading really quick and you've done some fantastic SEO. You should be so proud of yourself. Well done making it this far. I'll see you in the next lecture.
