1. Introduction: Hello everyone, it is that time of the year. Halloween, and I thought we could spice it out with a little digital illustration workshop for beginners. In this class, you will be introduced to a basic illustration process and get a little bit of everything. Digital illustration basics, shading basics, lighting basics, a bit of a character design and at the end you will end up with a cute illustration and a basic overview of an illustration process. Hi, my name is Alexandra, aka the artmother. I'm an artist, mother, illustrator, music lover, magic lover. My superpower is that I make complicated art topics easy for beginners. The class is perfect for beginners in illustration, who would love to get through to illustration process quickly, but still learn a ton of new things. A simple process and a basic overview can give you so much. You will get a grasp of what an illustration process looks like. What an illustrator does. You will get it from topics that you can deepen in the future, but you will still have a project done. During the class I will be using an iPad and Procreate, but you are free to follow me in any software. You will however need a working knowledge of it, even Procreate, because I'm not going to go into detail, into interface, for example, but I'm going to comment on everything that I'm doing so even very beginners can follow me. By the end of this class, you will be ready to apply this knowledge into various scenarios. You will be ready to illustrate objects and simple characters, not just pumpkins. Are you ready to start? I'm so excited, so let's get started. 2. The Class Project: Welcome to the class. I'm super happy that you are here with me. In this video, I would love to talk to you about the class project. We are going to create a Halloween pumpkin, like this. As you can see, this illustration is illustrated in my own style. You are free to illustrate in your own style. You are free to follow me step-by-step. You will have everything in the resources to do so. If you are a very beginner, you will have the sketch, you will have the color palette, you will have the brushes, so you can really follow me step-by-step and do the exact same illustration as I'm doing. But I still encourage you very beginner, you can do this. At least choose your own colors or modify the sketch to a different facial expression at different accessories. Make the illustration your own. This is your journey and you can do this. All the others who have a bit more courage, you follow the guidance of mine. I tell you now, for example, sketch and think about these things and do it your own way. Let's build these illustrations together. Instead of sticking to your way of doing things, figure out your way of doing things. In the resources, you will find two of my favorite brushes, the liner and the shader. You might already have them from my different classes and they are my ultimate brushes. I didn't want to leave them out from this class and I wanted to provide them to you. But you are free to use any brush that you like. You will need something that makes solid shapes and something that you can shade that has transparency and pressure sensitivity. Also by the colors, we are going to create a color palette together. I will show you how I am making my color palettes on my own, but feel free to do whatever you want. The main point is to enjoy the whole process. This is a workshop and to have a class project at the end of the class. Download all the resources and when you have them, see you in the next video, we start our project. 3. Basics of Illustration : As we are beginners here, I would love to tell you the basics of illustration and actually any art. There are seven elements of art, line, shape, form, space, texture, color, and value. From these, what is interesting for us is line, shape, and form. That will create a base for us. With lines, we create shapes, and with shapes, if we add shading, we create form. That is the base of any illustration. This is what we are going to work on within this class. We're going to create a line, we create shapes with these lines, and then we will add shading and we will have forms to work with. Regarding the other elements, space, texture, color, and value, space refers to the space in the artwork. Another dimension of the artwork, but in the environment the placement of these objects in the space. Then texture adds a surface quality to the image. It enhances the feeling of the artwork. Color is obvious, and value refers to the intensity of colors in grayscale. Can you see that? This is the darkest, this is the lightest. We are going to add all of these to the illustration as well but in a very basic way. We are not going to go too deeply into these topics. You can explore them in different classes. Back to shapes, every artwork is created by shapes and every complex form can be broken down into basic geometric shapes. Why is it important to break anything down into basic shapes? It is because, if we know how to shade a basic geometric shape, let's say a sphere, for example, we will know how light will act on a surface. Let's say we have an ice cream cone. We have a cone, we know how the light works on the cone, we know how the light works on the sphere, and therefore, we will be able to shade the whole complex form well. We will know how light will act on a surface that is similar to it. We are not talking about perfect geometric shapes, but for example, in this project, we will have a pumpkin, which is a sphere, so we will need to know how to shade a sphere. Let me show you. It is pretty simple. Let us do it together. I will create a new Canvas. I usually work in a screen-sized Canvas. The reason is that it is big enough to have a quality illustration, but it is small enough to have enough layers. If I illustrate for Instagram, for example, I can just cut these sides off, but still, have a good picture. Let us try to create this sphere. I'm going to choose a color, let's say this one. I will use the liner brush and I will just draw a circle and hold it down for the quick shape function. As you can see, a menu box pops up here and I click "Edit Shape" like this, and I will click the "Circle" and it will become a circle. Wow, amazing. Now I will drop the color and I will drop it here. I will just fill in these pixels because this is caused by the texture of the brush itself. I will just fill them in so that we have a full shape. If you color your image with a color drop, just check it, if you have these pixels left out. Now I have this shape. We had the line, created the shape, now I will Alpha lock the layer. Alpha lock means that, if you Alpha lock a shape on a layer, you will not be able to paint outside the pixels that are already painted there. I click and I will Alpha Lock, and now I cannot paint outside this shape, with a different color, let's say so that you can see what I'm saying you are painting only into this shape. But what we're going to do is to click this shader brush. Now you're actually practicing illustration itself. Amazing. I will choose this dark color, choose whatever color, let it be just a darker. Now the question of where to put the shadows, you need to define the light source. If the light source is here on top and on this side, you need to decide, and now we're going to do this side. Here is the light source. Let me just draw it here. I will just write it here so that you know that here is the light source, it is important. Here's the light source. Back to the layer of the image, to the shader brush, or any brush that has a bit of transparency and pressure sensitivity. Now I will place the shadow on the other side of the light source. Because we have shadows where the object is blocking the light. The dimension of this sphere blocks the light, so the shadow will be here. That is our rule now. We decide where the light source is and the shadow will be on the opposite part of the sphere or a pumpkin as we are going to work with the pumpkin. Now we have a sphere, and now you add a bit of light. I will choose a lighter color and I will choose the part where the light hits the object the most and there I will have the highlights. Here I have the highlight. Now I will place a drop shadow because if we have an object which is late, we have a shadow on the surface it is on. I will just put it on the layer below it. I will use black for it and I will add the shadow here. Voila, I will make it a bit more spherish or elliptical. Voila, we have a sphere illustrated three-dimensional. Now let's just name the shadows, so that we know what we are going to work with. The color that we have placed into the shape is the mid-tone, this will be important for us a bit later. Then we have the shadow, then we have the highlights, and we have the drop shadow. Wonderful. Obviously, we can have different lighting situations, but let's keep it simple like this for this class. Anyhow, remember shadows are always at the opposite side of the light source. Now that we know how we will shade, let's talk about the layers in the next video. 4. Layers: Why are layers important? We already created some layers here but let's just talk a little bit about the traditional media. Here is an unfinished little watercolor illustration of mine. With the watercolors, as it is a transparent media, you need to build up your artwork from light to dark. You always need to count the white of the paper into your colors. If you take a look at the paint itself, I will show your paints. Take a look at a paint, let's say this yellow or a ocher or gamboge. I'm not sure what color that is now, but basically it's results a light yellow like this. Can you see that this darker hue results in this one because you need to count in the white of the paper as it is a transparent color. It is different acrylics as they are all packed. You can layer the colors on each other. It is usually the opposite, so you build up your painting from darker to lighter as the top layers contained a lighter tones usually. Now with digital, you work a bit differently. You can paint in digital however you want. You can think everything in one layer. For example, as we did with this sphere, we did all the shading and lighting onto the same layer. You can do this in a complex artworks from illustrations as well or work with just a very limited number of layers. But then the painting experience will be the same as in traditional because you will have one layer to work on as if you would have one piece of paper or Canvas. This is one layer you can work with. I personally know famous digital artists who paint everything in one layer and it works for them. But working in more layers, offers endless possibilities and why to choose them. One advantage of working in layers is that it is quicker. Just imagine we just created the shape and we shaded in it with a different shape of the brush, and we didn't need to take care of the outside part of it. We didn't need to shade in a really careful way. We just kept in mind the shape we need, the shape to appear, and it really made our work quicker. Then you can adjust only one part of the illustration. Let's say we have two spheres, one another on a different layer and I can adjust it. I can go to Adjustment layer and change the hue saturation brightness. In one second I have a different sphere. If I have them both on the same layer, I cannot do that. You can move the illustrated objects around if you need them. Let's say I have the screen on the wrong part of the Canvas. I just hit move and I'll move it around. Maybe I need to adjust it to the drop shadow better so I can just move it around. I have a perfect solution for my artwork. Working in layers helps you to correct your mistakes. You can create several color variations of your artworks and I could go on with this list forever. If you decide to work on layers, there is, however, a simple process that it is good to understand. We haven't done it yet because I wanted to explain the layers later. Basically you create a base shape and a midtone, and that is one layer. As if it was a silhouette, when we created this sphere, it was still wet on a base shape to which we added the shadows in the lining. You have one layer for this based shape. Then it is good to add shading either into this base or on a separate layer. The reason to have it on a separate layer is, maybe I want to add some patterns to the base shape. Let's say I want this sphere to have dots. If I want to add dots, now, let's say like this, I will have it over the shading, but if I had the shading on a separate layer, I have the base shape, I have the shading. I can place it between those two layers and it will just fit in into the illustration. We have the base shaping midtone. We can have the shading over the base shape and then we can add details on a separate layer based on where we want it to be below the shading or over the shading. I will add light over the top. We have a base shape. We can have the details, we have the shadows, and we have the light, and this is how we have our layers. This is the base and it varies in different situations, but for this illustration that we are going to create, it will work just fine. Now that you know why to work in layers and how to place them in order. Let's move to the creation part as catch out our pumpkin hereafter. 5. The Sketch: In this video we are going to sketch out our little pumpkin character, but not just in a simple way. I told you that you will get a bite from the character design topic. I really want you to experiment a little bit. My usual way of creating a character is that, before I look to any reference photo, or any inspiration, I create an intuitive sketch. Therefore, I do not copy anyone else's work. I can start illustration from my own intuitive artistic side, and then expand that idea with inspirations and conscious decisions. At first, let's create an intuitive sketch. I will create a new Canvas again, a screen-sized Canvas again. What I'm going to do is to choose black. What I love to use is this sketching 6B pencil, so I can sketch. Now we're going to create an intuitive sketch. If I tell you to draw me a Halloween pumpkin, what would you do? Now I'm going to speed this up so that I don't bore you. I will just create a little drawing that we will talk about it. Just notice one thing, dotting, I am drawing with lots of short lines. This is helping me to create dimension and to keep this catch loose. When you are just catching, just keep doing small lines, short lines, and sometimes push it a bit when you have a new thing that you have an angle. Well, for example, like at the bottom of this pumpkin. Then at the end we'll create a layer over and then redraw it. But yeah, short lines. This is my intuitive sketch. Your intuitive sketch doesn't have to be perfect. This is just something to start with. It isn't in angle, it is absolutely not perfect. I'm going to double up my illustration from this. I encourage you to have no pressure at all when creating your intuitive sketch. This is as if no one would watch. No one is watching. You can do whatever you want. Create an intuitive sketch. What I can notice from my intuitive sketch is, that I love to draw it in a dimension, maybe in an angle, maybe not a perfect shape for the pumpkin. I want these things like this. This 3D thing. I am going to only note this things. I'm not going to shade the whole pumpkin as in a real rendered space thing. But only note these lines. This has so much information for me, what I'm going to do in my illustration now. Just get friendly with your intuitive drawings and just learn about yourself from them. This is a great exercise. What we are going to do now, is to go online, find some images, go through the illustrations, use keywords, pumpkin, Halloween illustrations, Halloween drawing, Halloween procreate outside the room. You can just write these keywords. I will just speed this up. I will take my phone and just go through it and see what inspires me. What I really like is that this thing it has these spirals and maybe a one leaf. I like it so much. It is a bit more spooky, so maybe I will add that to my illustration. Just stop at elements that you like and just note them. This is so cute. Also look at faces, all this, I like this one's so much. Oh, there are so many facial expressions here. Just note, how would you love to draw eyes, you will have round eyes, triangular eyes. Mouth. You can get so much inspiration from this. Now let's get back from the social media thing. Don't spend too much time there. I really want this artwork to come out of you. Now we have an intuitive sketch. Now we have gone through some images on Pinterest to get some ideas. Now, think about the character of the pumpkin. This is the bite from the character design thing. You need to decide who this pumpkin will be. Will it be a cute pumpkin, a sad one, a character from a famous movie? We just created Harry Porter pumpkin, we might guess. You can think about that. You can also write this things into the search. Harry Porter Halloween pumpkin or something like that. Will he have any accessories? I want you to think about it and create a mind map. What I'm going to do is to take this little intuitive sketch, put it aside. I will write some ideas that I have. Mind map, this is going to be a Halloween pumpkin. I want you to have an emotion. I want you to have some accessories that it has the personality of the pumpkin. This might sound ridiculous, but this is going to add the, aha moment and that extra thing to your illustration that it needs. You can also add more things. For example, I love to create a rarely hipster musical listener, Halloween pumpkin. Hipster, I want it to be a hipster. Hipster. He loves music. He will have an accessory, the headphone for sure and maybe glasses. We will see, and then an emotion. It will be a music listener, wild and happy. It will be a happy hipster music listener pumpkin. Let's see what it does. At this point, you will have an emotion, an intuitive sketch, character description and then accessory that you will love your pumpkin to have. Now this is that you can start to work with. See you in the next video where I'm going to create my sketch. You can create your own sketch. See you there. 6. Final Design: In this video, I'm going to create my sketch of the pumpkin. I have my [inaudible] sketch, I have my brief, how it should look like. I'm going to speed this process up because it will take me a little bit of time. One thing you can do is to create several little sketches. You don't need to work all the one final one, but several versions and choose the one that you like the most. This is called thumbnailing. It will help you to loosen the pressure that's on you, that, my God, you need to create something that is beautiful right away. You don't have to. This is a process and you need to enjoy it. If you a have time, explore different versions of your character, that will be fine. I will now create a swamp margin. Just to watch the whole video, I'm going to stop when I have some ideas that I want to explain to you. Now I am going to make this small so that I can read it. I can have it here as I will take my little sketch, make it bigger like this. I will lower its opacity, not for this layer but for the pumpkin layer and work about it. Somehow try to implement the things that I've already done and incorporate my into description to it as well. Let's do it. Now, I decided not to have this thing at the top as I told you because I will need to somehow place the headphones. I will turn on the back sketch and work on it a bit more even. I will need to make it a bit bigger this thing. I will lower the opacity and now I will clean it up. I will enhance the facial features even more so that it has the better expression. Actually, what I'm going to do is to go back and with the selection tool, I will just play around with the facial features to see how they would work if they would be bigger, in a different angle, etc. I promise this will look even better when we're going to be finished with the painting part. I will turn on these catching layers and this character design thing. Now let's talk about the compensation. I will allow to be able to post this to Instagram and on Instagram we have this square format. Therefore, I love to just place my image to the middle so that I can color this sides. I will place it a bit higher because we will play a bit more with space, as I already told you. The easiest way to place this into a space as a linear perspective, that means that we will only have a horizon line. I will place a layer below the sketch and just place a line somewhere at the lower third of the image and erase from it where you have the pumpkin. This is going to be the horizon line. We will have some kind of a darker color at the bottom, lighter color at the top. We are not going to work a lot with deep background itself. One more thing I will place is the drop shadow because what we need to do is to decide where is the light source. Let's just work the same as we have done with the sphere. The light source will come here. Where will the shadows be? Here on the pumpkin, and here will be a little drop shadow side. We'll just know that drop shadow right here. Our pumpkin will glow. That will be also amazing or look pretty amazing. This is incredible. Take a second to appreciate your hard work now. You have done character design and I'm sure you can be proud of yourself. Tell yourself now, this looks amazing. Now let's move on to the painting part. 7. BONUS: Choosing The Colors: When we approach painting, we need to choose the colors. I will provide you the color palette I'm creating but we'll just create something for ourselves. If you go to the Palettes menu, you have a plus sign here, create a new palette, and add this one as default. I will just rename it pumpkin. When we are creating a color palette, we can build a color palette from knowing what colors we will need to use. Now we know that we will need to use orange. Orange is the color of the pumpkin, so I will set it as a default and go back to classic and simply just choose the orange that I like. The orange that I like is this number here and I will just place it here. What we will need to shade with, is a bit darker color. Now, the shade orange it is good to go to the disc and to see what color is next to the orange in the color wheel. It is red. I will go to a bit more reddish-orange here and go back to classic and choose a bit darker version. Now I have a wonderful a bit brownish color to shade my orange-red. Now I will go back to the original color and choose a lighter version for the light. Walla and I now have a pumpkin spice color palette. Wonderful. Now we need to create an illustration where this pumpkin pops out. Now we don't have too many things around our illustration. What we have is the pumpkin and the background. How many colors do we need? Basically two dominant colors and if we are thinking about the color harmonies, the place where we have two colors is the complementary color harmony. Complementary color harmony means that colors that are opposite to the color wheel to each other will look great together and will complement each other. Now we have a wonderful color harmony tool and here if you click you can choose 1,2,3,4,5 kind of colors and I will go to complementary. Now, if I choose my color, another color will pop out and it is going to be this blue. If I go to this one, I will get an even darker color, and with this one, I will have this color. Now, actually, we can keep these colors here. This is going to be the color harmony, our complementary but to be honest, I would rather want something more dark purple. For some reason, I really love. This is one way to choose colors, maybe we will use these colors to add a bit of a complement to it. But I love to have a bit more of this purplish color. I will choose this dark purple and go back to classic and choose a bit more darker version to it, and maybe a bit more lighter lavender here. Blue can complement this purple. I love this really dark indigo color. I will just add it here. What I've done here, I don't want to confuse you. I have chosen a color that I know that I need to work with, and that is the orange because the pumpkin is orange. I've chosen a mid-tone. I have chosen a color to shade with and to lighten with. Then I've chosen colors for the background with the color harmony tool, so I have chosen this blue. Maybe I will use this blue as an accent. An accent is something that will grab your attention. But basically, when I look at this orange pumpkin, I would rather have something dark violet with just maybe a little magenta. Do not limit yourself with rules. Feel free to use actually whatever color you like. What you need to remember from this is that usually choose a mid-tone darker version and the lighter version, and when you choose color for shading, go to the color wheel and the color you want to shade, push it a bit on the color wheel and choose a darker version of it, and you will have it just right. During the painting process, I'm going to choose more colors if I wish to. I'm not having colors for this part, so I will need to think about that. Yeah, so see you in the next video where we are going to finally start painting. 8. Painting The Base: In this video, we are going to paint the base. As I told you, we start with painting the base shape. Now I have these sketches here, I will just select them around and group them. I'll keep the sketch that I'm working with outside the group and lower its opacity and make it multiply. I will create a new layer. Here I have this background here, so I will need to put them together. I have a layer below the sketch. I'm choosing the pumpkin color and the liner brush from my free illustration brush set. What I'm going to do is just fill the base shape. I'm going to fill this up. Now I have a base shape, wonderful. Make sure not to have too many pixels left out from the illustration. What will help me to see the colors better is setting the background to gray color. I will go for this middle gray. Because I will have this background a bit darker, so I need to see how my colors will look. This is a prototype. Remember to darken your background so that you see your colors better. Take it as a silhouette. Now we have the silhouette of your pumpkin. I'm going to carve it. We are going to carve now the eyes and the mouth, so that its carved. I'm going to just erase from the base shape. Now, let's shade it. I will go to the layer of my pumpkin and two fingers slide to alpha lock it. Then I will grab my shader and this darker color. Now, we are going to place the shadow. Here is the light source and we are going to place the shadows. Now let's work in layers. We alpha lock this pumpkin, and I will create a new layer above it. There are several ways to do this. Now, the easiest way will be to create this layer as a clipping mask. I will create it as a clipping mask. This means that when I'm shading, I am shading in to this layer in whatever shape, but it will be [inaudible] to this shape. Now, I'm going to add shadows to this part of the sphere. This shader brush is textured, and now we will add a bit of a texture into the painting. As I told you, it is part of any art like texture. I love its texture, can you see that? These dots? What I'm going to do is to make it so big and just nearly slightly go through the whole. That's for shading, but for adding this little bit of this grainy texture. Then I'll make it a bit smaller, increase the brush opacity, because when you do this texturing thing, just have it in a lower opacity. It will not like mess with your illustration too much. I will add the shadows here. I can go to the classic and make it a bit even darker at the edges. Add even darker shadow here. Wonderful. It looks great. I will add to the sides as well and on the top. Here, I will make it a bit smaller and go back to this main shading color here. Where we have this chunk, there will be a bit of a shadow, I will make it darker. At the top, I will go back to the original pumpkin color and at the edges, I will add back this light. You can go darker or lighter or darker or lighter until you get a rendered illustration. The more you use these brushes, the more you will have these textures over your illustration. What I want is the liner and this darker color and add this carvings. This will add the margin right away as if it was the continuation. These are sharp shadows. Maybe I will choose this even darker one from this one so that I can have this edge here. You know what I mean? [inaudible] this one here. Yeah, I love this darker color a bit more. Maybe I will keep this slide and go with this little bit darker. Looks good to me. 9. Painting The Light: Let's add a little light. I will create a new layer with the shader brush and this really light color that we have each chosen. I will add light to the part where it hits the pumpkin the most. Make it a little bigger, so at the top and this part, it will have this light. I will lower it a bit and add more highlights. I can even use the liner brush to add some dots like this. Maybe I can add some edges here and there where it is lit to add a bit of color variation to the whole. Looks great. Now what I missed as this lines that go through it. I will create a new layer below the light and below the shading over this base shape. This is what I was talking about. You can rearrange things as you wish. Go with this darker color, choose the liner brush. Make this even darker one. Lets see, like this. What if I did like this? Yes. Maybe I will place it over the shading and it looks weird. Let's just try blending those. I love the darker. Lower the opacity and I will maybe erase this top one because it looks pretty weird. Now, let's create this chunk. I will create a new layer above everything. I will choose a color for it. It will be brown. I will choose a bit brownish color and just paint it. I mean, the bit darker color for this part. Yes, I will add some lines here. Maybe I will add a bit of a shading around this bottom with the shading brush around this little chunk. Maybe it will have a bit of a shadow here on this side as the light is coming from here and it can have a bit of light as well. I will just alpha lock the whole chunk. As you can see, I have painted this whole on one layer. Why not? This will be blocked. I will add maybe a bit of a white over here and maybe a bit of darkness to this part. This sill be a shadow. Looks pretty amazing to me. Let's add a drop shadow. I will create a layer below it all and choose this darkest brown and just add with the shading brush, make it a bit bigger and add the shadow here. Maybe I will choose an even darker one for the bottom. The drop shadow, it doesn't have to be too far away from the bottom because it will have the effect as if it was floating. Here comes the trick. You can place it a bit higher. If you place it like this, our head is floating. If you place a bit about, it is not floating anymore. I want to work on the inside. I want it to glow. So I will create a new layer below the base shape and choose colors for the inner glow. I want a really nice yellow. Let's just try adding the liner here. Below this, it is as if it was lit, and now we will need a bit of white as well with the shader brush. Light looks like it's in the middle, it is white and it expands to the color. I will just try to make a bit of a gradation here as if there was a candle inside. We would want a bit of an inner glow coming out. Let's go over it all, create a new layer over the light. Maybe try this yellow around these eyes as if it was coming out. I would turn off the sketch so that I can see a bit better, what I need. I think I need a dark line here. I will choose the liner brush and make it a bit more definite in these eyes. I will darken the background color a bit. I see I have some lights expanding here, so I will just erase that. For me, it looks pretty good. What do you say? 10. Painting The Accessories: Okay and now let's add the accessories. I will turn this on. I will create a new layer above everything and just simply start creating my headphones. I will Alpha Lock this base shape and add a bit of a shading to it. Maybe add a bit of white like this. Cool. This looks pretty amazing. I think I should place this a bit lower, so I will just select it and just make it a bit lower like this and maybe smaller as well. Can you see how amazing is that we have these layers and we can work however we wish? I think it is incredible that we have this possibility of the Undo button and stuff like that. There are so many amazing [inaudible] just because there is a possibility of this. I just love this digital hero. We have the headphones. Let's add the glasses as well. I will create a new layer and choose a color for my glasses. I will Alpha Lock these glasses and play a little bit with the shading as well so that it fits the out back. Cool. It looks great. Now let's work on the background. 11. Painting The Background: I will create a new layer below it all. I will choose this dark color with the liner and paint this lower part where the horizon line was. I will turn on and see where the horizon line was and paint it like that. I don't want the color. This blue looks great. I'm happy with this one. I will go to this drop shadow and going to the adjustments to the hue saturation brightness and layer, and play a bit with the hue of the shadow. I have a feeling that a bit more purplish drop shadow would look so much better. Can you see that? It looks so much better. I will just turn off the sketch again so that we can see it even more. Then I will just get this color, go even darker, get the shader and go back to the shadow and just paint it a bit more. Is it working? I will make it a bit bigger like this. Just imagine that the light is coming out of this Halloween pumpkin. Maybe you can add a bit of a light around it as well. I will make it a bit bigger and just draw up a bit of lights, Just a little bit. To the background, we'll just go to the background color and just find something, like this? I love it. I will go back to this background. I will just adjust it a bit more. Maybe I can add some textures. I will go back to the artistic. There's the wild light. I will go to the background and create a new layer and maybe with a bit darker color. No. I will just experiment a bit. This looks pretty cool. What have I done? There is a layer above the background. I have the brush wild lights. I chosen this little light purple and just went through it and it looks pretty amazing. I suggest you just experiment with it. I will add one layer of this texture and one behind this pumpkin. I will just do one more layer over so that I can control it a bit more. I want this glowing behind this because I want the values to work. I will just show you a trick in a second. I will create a new layer up above everything, fill it with gray, and then go to color. Where is the color? Now, I can see if my artwork works in gray scale and it works, everything can be seen. Maybe this half phone doesn't. This is why I need a little bit of a background back lights. But I will turn it off. I'm so happy. I will play a bit more with the background. I will go for the light then. Where's the light then? Luminance. If you want to add some more things you can, you are free to expand this illustration as you wish. Maybe I will add some of these glowing lights around because that's my thing. That's what I do. That's what I love to do. Maybe I will add some lights here and there. But I think we did a good job with it all. No, I don't like that. I think this is wonderful. I hope that you enjoyed the whole process and that your art works, I'm sure that looks pretty amazing. Now, see you in the final video where we are going to discuss what this class was about.
