Don't restrict yourself to just one holiday either. I'll be using my iPad to procure app and my Apple Pencil. But you can use a stylus. So if you're ready to create your Christmas tree photo collage and procreate. Let's get started. 2. Class Project : In this lesson, we'll talk about a class project. Once we create our size and our background, I love for you to share it in our class in the project section. Next, we'll use our photo frames and choose a layout. Lastly, we'll share a finished project that will include are inserted masterpieces inside the frames. In the next lesson, we'll go over the free resources and where to find them. 3. Free Resources : In this lesson, we'll go over the free resources and where to find them. You'll find three different plant backgrounds. If you choose not to create your own. You'll find them in the Skillshare website underneath the project and resource section. We'll also go over creating these items from scratch in later lessons. You'll also find a star PNG. Again, if you choose not to create your own. I've also included a tree trunk PNG. I supply to photo frame procreate file. This will have the outer layer and the inner insert layer. We discussed the optional files you may choose to download if you'd like to save some time from creating them from scratch. In the next lesson, we'll talk about some size options that we need to consider before creating our photo collage. 4. Size Options: In this lesson, we'll talk about the size options that we need to consider when creating our Christmas tree, a photo collage. You're going to want to decide if you're printing it yourself and what size your printer can handle. If you're going to have it printed professionally, you're going to need to know what size your printer can print and whether there is an up charge or even a delay. You're going to want to think about whether or not you're going to be using a frame or no frame. Here are just a few common brain sizes that are available. Let's recap. You're going to want to consider who's printing it. And if there's going to be a frame or not. In the next lesson, we'll start creating our plaid background. 5. Background : In this lesson, we'll create a black background for our Christmas tree photo collage. I supplied three plaid backgrounds to choose from, but we'll also show you how to create one from scratch. So you don't care for applied background. It's okay. You can definitely go with a solid favorite color or your favorite print texture or floral design of your choosing. Let's start with a monoline brush. You can find it in the calligraphy brushes make a couple of straight vertical lines like this. Once you have a few, duplicate the layer and move it in place, merge down. I'm going to duplicate this layer, alpha lock and fill layer with a different color and move in place. You may need to duplicate this layer until you have the design that suture needs. Merge Down, label just in case you want to reuse this file later was a different color palette. Now I'm enlarging my brush, changing my color and drawing horizontal lines across. Again, I'll draw a few before duplicating the layer and moving into place. Merge down and label. I'll repeat this using a different color. You may want to adjust your background color according to your color palette that you have in mind for your project. We create an applied background. I also suggested, is it a solid, a print or even a floral background to your collage? Now's a great time to add a photo of your background to the project section of this class. In the next lesson, we'll create a photo frames. 6. Photo Frames: In this lesson, we'll create some photo frames for Christmas tree photo collage. We can do this by using a file supply and creating a stamp, or use a copy and paste method, or even draw your own from scratch. We're going to start adding a photo frame by importing this applied procreate file. Here an instructions listed out. And I'll give you a quick lesson. Next. Copy Canvas. Tap the brush at the top. Tap the plus symbol, tap shape, tap Edit. Here at the top. Tap Import, paste, two-finger tab. Then tap properties. Journalists stamp preview. I've just maximum size, adjustment on size. And change your preview size. And then hit Done. We're going to repeat the same process for the insert stamp. But first we need to change the color over. Insert two black, two fingers swipe right to alpha lock, fill layer with black, copy canvas and create your stamp using the same method I just showed you how to create the photo frame. Make sure you rename your brush so you can find it more easily. Go to About this brush. Rename it, tap down. When you're ready to use your stamp. Just choose your color and size and make sure you're on a separate layer and tap. When adding your Insert, make sure you're on my layer beneath the dataframe. Change your color. We position, move into place, resize if necessary, group, label, and move into position a top. Here's the copy and paste method. Copy. Go back to the background file and paste. Two-finger swipe right? Change color, fill layer, move in place, Add layer underneath. Now go back to your photo frame file that you imported. Copy the insert layer. Go to your background file, paste in place. Now group the photo frame and the insert. Resize and move into position. Don't forget to rename. Draw your own. Here I'll show you how to draw a photo frame from scratch. Choose a monoline brush and your colored. Draw a rectangle and fill the photo frame or with your color. Erase a square shape in the center. Now add a layer below. Change the color. Make sure you label in group, resize, and move it into position. We discussed three options of creating our photo frames by using the Procreate file supplied and creating a stamp by using the file supply and copy and paste or drawing our own from scratch will be duplicating this. In our positioning lesson. In the next lesson, we'll go over our photo frame, positioning. 7. Positioning : In this lesson, we'll go over the positioning of her photo. Iframes will need to duplicate several these depending on our layout. I'm just moving around until the finished layout resembles a shape of a tree. But by all means, you can choose a totally different layout. I'll show you some variations in a later lesson. Make sure you rename the groups as you go. By labeling this will help you with adding your masterpieces. Later. We duplicated our photo frame, regrouped, we put into position, and we labeled. In the next lesson, we'll go over decorating our collage to make it complete. 8. Decorate : In this lesson, we'll do some decorating to complete the Christmas tree photo collage. Look. Let's add a star to the top of our tree. Or you can import the PNG file supplied. Make sure at the top of the layers resize and move in place. Let's add a tree trunk to the bottom of a tree. We'll add our tree trunk by using the file supplied. Make sure you are above the plaid background, but under the reframes, resize and move into position. If you choose not to use a file supply. Here's a quick review on creating your own from scratch. We'll start with the star drove outline. Though with color. Alpha lock. I'm using the willow charcoal brush that's in the charcoal procreate brushes add highlights and shadows and smudge. Here are some instructions. If you want to draw a tree trunk, you start with the outline. Let's color. Draw some dark squiggly lines as some highlights. Shadows, alpha lock, and it's much, make sure you're above the plaid background. You may want to hide some of your photo frames by tapping the checkmark next to them. We discussed adding our star and our tree trunk to decorator tree by importing the file supplied will be also went over some brief instructions on drawing our own from scratch. You could also add a bot, lights presence or any other accessories you want. In the next lesson, we'll go over some procreate layering solutions. 9. Layering Solutions: In this lesson, we'll go over some procreate lettering solutions, depending on the size we are creating and Procreate and the iPad capabilities, you may find yourself out of layers. And we're going to discuss some solutions. We will need to merge down. You can flatten your group and once your masterpiece is in place, use a separate file to create your photo frame and add your masterpiece. Turn off your background, copy canvas, and paste into your finished product. We discussed about possible Procreate layering issues along with some solutions. In the next lesson, we'll start adding our masterpieces. 10. Add Your Masterpieces : In this lesson, we'll start adding our masterpieces. Here are a few suggestions of masterpieces to help you get started. We will want to add above the insert and under the photo frame. We'll import our photo, resize and move in place and change layer to clipping mask. If your photo is larger than your Insert, continue until your photo frames are filled. We need to choose our position. Import the photo above the insert and below the frame will also need to change our layer to a clipping mask if our photo is larger than the insert at your finished photo collage to the project section of this class. In the next lesson, I'll show you some variations to consider. 11. Variations: In this lesson, I'll show you some variations you might want to consider when creating your Christmas tree photo class. There are several things you can choose to get a different variation. Choose your layout, choose your background, choose your colors. Choose your holiday. Choose your masterpieces. Remember to change up your background, change your color palette, choose a different holiday, and even change your masterpieces. In the next lesson, we'll do some recap him. 12.
