1. Welcome To The Class: Hi, and welcome to this series
of videos where I give you my top tips and advice to help you choose
the best DJ name. In these videos,
I will break down the different options you
have of choosing a DJ name. I'll give you my
personal recommendations when it comes to
choosing a DJ name. And I'll also give you different ways that you can come up with your own ideas for unique
and memorable DJ and M's. Once you have started
to learn how to do some basic DJ mixing, the next step is then to show people your new talent
and new skills. But before you can do that, you need to decide
what to call yourself. Before you can start
putting any mixes on-line are degenerate
live events. You need some kind
of DJ name that can represent you when
you're deejaying. This is sometimes
not an easy task and it's a decision that
shouldn't be taken lightly. The DJ name that you choose can stick with you throughout
your whole DJ Korea. So you want to make
sure it sounds good and that people
will hopefully like it. Over the last ten
years in my DJ career, I have had around five different DJ names for when
I transitioned, it's a different
genres or when I had moved to
different locations, I've had quite a bit of
experience and what kind of DJ names work and what
kind of DJ names don't. In this video series, I am to pass on as much
knowledge and advice as possible to help
you come up with the best DJ name for yourself. I hope you enjoyed
this series of videos and I hope you guys some
great value from them. Without further ado, let's
dive straight into it. And I will see you in the
next video where I'll explain why a DJ name is so important. See you there.
2. Why A DJ Name Is So Important: Choosing a DJ name is more important now than it
has ever been before, previously, before having an online presence
was such a big thing. A DJ name was just that. It was simply just
a DJ name that people cold you when
you're a DJ ink, the only time people
really come across your DJ name would be on a flyer for an event or if
the EMC was saying your name over the
microphone during the event? That was it. If people
didn't see your name on a flyer or come
to the event itself, you could just go on with your
day to day life as normal. But now with a huge
reach that you can get online and the many different platforms
you can be found on. A DJ name is much more
than just a DJ name. Dj name is now a brand name. This is because nowadays you
are no longer just a DJ. You are a complete brand. Nowadays, the act of physically playing
music and actually deejaying is just a small part of what you represent
previously. You would just be judged on
the music you play and if the crowd was having a good
time or not, and that was it. You could just stick
DJ inference if your real name and that's all the walls to
choose in a DJ name. But now there is a
lot more that you're DJ name is going to represent. Now your average DJ can have different accounts on
platforms such as mixed Cloud, SoundCloud, YouTube,
Instagram, TikTok, facebook. They can also have a
personal website logo and a DJ tagline. They can also have
branded t-shirts and merchandise and
the list goes on. This is also just what the
DJ themselves control. You also have to consider other people sharing
your content online or taking pictures and videos of you and putting them
on their social media. This means that you could reach hundreds and thousands of
people all around the world, not just people at the
venue at that time. Every single one of
those touch points where a person can
interact with you as a DJ is all represented by one overarching thing
that links it altogether. And that is your D, J, and M. And this is why your DJ name is no longer
just a degenerate, but is now a brand name. Brand name that represents a lot more than just deejaying. In this series of videos, I'm going to try
to help you choose a DJ name and share
with you some of my best practices on choosing a modern-day DJ name that
acts more like a brand name. And we'll help you
moving forward when building your DJ brand. So that being said, See
you in the next videos.
3. Real Name: First we are going
to look at using your own real name as a DJ name. This is probably
the easiest option, and one that many DJs do go for. It is just as simple as using
your first and last name. Other examples of DJs
using their own name. Patrick topping, David wetter, and sunny for Dara. Now it is up to each
person's own preference. But in my opinion, I would
personally avoid this option. From my experience, I
feel it is better to have a separate DJ name that is
not linked to your real name. And to be honest, I believe
it's better to keep your DJ life in general completely separate from
your personal life. When I say this, I am
mainly referring to keeping your online presence and
social media account separate, which in turn will mean having a separate DJ name that is
different to your real name. It may be tempting to
use your real name and your own personal
social media accounts when first starting
out deejaying, because you may feel like
you will already have a following and some funds
to get you started. If you already have a few hundred or a few
thousand followers on your social media accounts. You may feel it is easy just to put DJ at the start
of your name, start posting stuff
about deejaying and already have a fan
base and some followers. This way, you don't have to face the daunting task of starting a new social media account with zero followers and zero content. This might help
in the short run, but in the long run, it
is not a great idea. E.g. if all of a
sudden you start posting a lot of DJ content
on your personal accounts. It may not be what your
friends and family who originally following
you want to see. This also works
the other way too. If you start to get some fans following you for
your deejaying, they're probably not
going to want to see your personal life either. This is one reason why
I would say it is best to keep your DJ life
and your personal life separate and start to build up an online presence completely
devoted to DJ ink. That way, you will be able to build up a true fan base for your deejaying and not a
night the people who were originally following you and
your friends and family, do you want to follow
your DJ journey? They can still do
this very easily just by following
your new DJ account. Now, even if you do create a separate social media account, one for personal life
and one for deejaying. We also want to use your
real name for your DJ name. This can still blur the
line between the two. E.g. if you are
looking for a new job, potential employers must
search for your name online and there will most likely come across
your DJ accounts. Or if you're single and dating the person you are dating
may also do the same. Now, I am in no way saying
that being associated with De Jing is a bad on
negative thing at all. I obviously believe
it's actually a positive thing and a
good thing being a DJ. But I just want
to make the point that both your DJ life and your personal life
will be linked if you use your real name
for your DJ name. But if you use separate degenerate with
separate DJ accounts, you can have more control
over who sees it. And you can also match the right content to
the relevant account. You can still pose some
of your DJ content on your personal page as it will still be
parts of who you are. But again, the point
is that you will have more control over what
people will see of it. And you can post
as much DJ content as you like on your
separate DJ account too. Also have to bear in
mind that it's not just you who decides
what goes on line. You could potentially be
deejaying in front of hundreds, maybe even thousands of people, a lot of which may be
holding their phones up. I'm filming you as
you're on stage and tagging you in the
social media posts, people just sat at home. It can also show the
content you post online to their own social
media accounts as well. This means that the reach of you deejaying could
multiply exponentially. E.g. even if only ten people film you and tag you in
their store it at an event, and each of them
have 2000 followers. That could be a potential
of 20,000 people seeing your name and D Jane on stage at this sounds
awesome, right? Not if they are
seeing your real name and coming to your
personal account, they will most likely be met
with pictures and videos of your family and friends
and what you had to eat that morning and the rest
of your personal life. Surely you'll want these
people who have seen you DJ to be directed to a specific, more professional looking DJ page where they can see
more content if you just deejaying and you can
hopefully convert them into funds and build up an
authentic DJ following. So even though using
your real name as your DJ name is an option, and one that many DJs do go for, my advice would be not to use your real name as
your degenerate. The only reason why I'm so passionate about this is because I've seen it happen to quite
a few other DJs before. When first starting
out, they just put D j in front of their
real name and use their own personal
social media accounts as the man DJ account. It seems the easiest
option on people may also want to feel good about being
known by their own name. But in the long run, in every scenario
that I have seen, it works out better to use
a separate DJ name and a separate DJ account
rather than them using their real name
and personal accounts. If you did want to use some
parts of your real name in your DJ name and keep
that personal touch. You can always use a
variation of your real name. There's just like I
did with my DJ name, Jack Bradley, which
is the option we're going to discuss
in the next video. See you there.
4. A Variation Of Your Real Name: Next we'll take a look
at the option of using a variation of your real
name as your d, j, and m. Using a variation of
your real name can often be a good option to consider
when picking a DJ name, it is a good option
to use if you still want to add a personal
touch to your degenerate, but also wants to keep your
full real name separate. Some examples of DJs using a variation
of their real name. Gems hype. He uses
his first name James, and then the word hype to
replace his last name. There's also laid by Luke. His first name is Lucas, but he shortens it
to loop and then puts the word laid
back in front of it. The last example is actually
a really good friend of mine who I have DJs
with for many years. And he's actually one
of the best all-round Hip-Hop R&B DJ's I've ever seen. And that's not me being biased. He goes by the name Darren, do more daring be
in his first name. And then he uses
the French word the more in place of his last name. Now I know that some
of these examples are famous DJs and you can probably find out
their real name online anyway, like I have done. But I'm going to guess that
these famous DJs make up less than 1% of DJs in the
world, and the rest of us, 99% of DJs who are not famous and not on
Wikipedia can still enjoy the luxury of having both a separate private life and the separate DJ
life if we wanted to, for this option, you
can think of some words you may like or
associate with you and try putting them before or after your name and
seeing if it sounds good. For a simple example, if I was known as
being very tall, I could call myself told Jack, just like the DJ and
producer, tall pole. And to get more ideas of
different meanings of words, you can also use disorders. You can go to the source.com
and type in a word and see what other options it gives you and see if these
fit with your name. Going off. Our other simple
example we just used, if you are someone
who is really tall, you can type in the word tall and it will give
you other suggestions, such as lofty or Lanka, which could give you
the options of Jack lanky are lofty Jack. Another option for
this could be to use alliteration with your name. This is where you have the same first letter for both words, such as laid by Luke and
my friend Darren demo. Another option could be
trying rhyming words. You can type your
name into rhymes on.com and see if anything sounds good that
rhymes with your name. Again, some more
simple examples. I typed in Jack and some
suggestions I could use. We're bringing back Jack
or off the rack Jack. And just like our
other real example from before, tall pole, another option for this,
if you really wanted to, you could completely
make up a name. Two examples of this, Calvin Harris and Bob Sinclair, both are actually
not their real names and they are both completely
made up for this. You could try a random
name generator, such as random word
generator.com, forward slash name dot PHP. I will put any webpage links in the description of this video if you want to check them out. Now if you've watched
my main DJ course, you may have noticed
that my DJ name that I use is DJ Jack Bradley. Even though this may sound like my real name is actually
not my real name. My first name is Jack, but my last name is not Bradley. Bradley was just a
name that sounded better than my real last name. And just like I mentioned
in the previous video, not using my full
name allows me to keep my personal life
separate from my DJ life. And it also allows me to change my DJ names and brands in
the future if I wanted to. So they have it for that option. You can use parts of
your real name and combine it with any other words to create your degenerate. In the next video, we'll take one step further and
look at the option of using completely random words or phrases for your DJ nm. See you there.
5. Random Words Or Phrases: Next we will take
a look at using random words or phrases
for your DJ name. What do I mean by using
random words or phrases is using something not associated
with your real name. This option is heading
in the direction of sounding more like a brand name rather than a personal name. One of my favorite
examples of this is hot since 80 to a phone
interview online, which asked hot since 82, how he came around his name. And he said, I didn't have
any sorts of masterplan. I was just messing around and this is the one
that seemed to pop. The name doesn't have to
be completely random. You could think of
things that are still associated with you, but just not your name. E.g. I. Found another interview
online that asked camel fat how they came
up with their name. Their response was simply, we have a passion for
Campbell's, we love camels. And for the last example, is eats everything which
contrary to what you may think, says he actually
doesn't eat everything. He says he got his
name because he eats a lot and he
plays everything. Then in the interview I found, he goes on to say that
it's just a stupid name, which in my opinion
is the whole point. It sounds stupid at
first because at first it doesn't directly
relate to DJ ink. But I personally liked
this idea of using random words or phrases
that don't actually mean anything or not
already common language and do not yet mean
anything to anyone. Similar to using a
variation of your name. It is more unique and people
can feel it associate that phrase with you as a brand and as a DJ and nothing else. E.g. if you hear the name camel, you don t think of anything
else but the DJs and producers come or file they
effectively on that word. And that phrase.
Trying this option may sound weird at first, just like I assume
camel fat or hot since 82 may have sounded
weird at first too, because at first it will have no meaning or context behind it. But over time, if
you get people to associate that phrase with
you and your DJ brand, it then starts to make
sense and so on, right? Because then it starts that
actually mean something. I also believe when people hear these types of DJ
names at first, it can naturally
pick some curiosity and interest because it is a new and unusual
name rather than just DJ, insert, FirstName, LastName. People may be more curious
to what it means and stands for to come up with
some ideas for this option, I often use random
word generators. Personally avoid DJ name
generators that you find online because I find they
can often just pump out cheesy cliche DJ names. I personally have
more luck with just using normal random
word generators. I personally use random
word generator.com or you can just type in Google yourself, random word generator. You don't have to let
the suggestions from these websites be
your deciding factor, but they can be used as a fun tool to help
spark some ideas. You may come across certain words that you'd like the sound of that you resonate with
and you can go from there. You also have to be careful
with this approach though, because you could end up
stuck in a rabbit hole and spending hours flicking
through random words, which I've done many times. Try and be mindful and make sure you don't spend
too long doing this exercise whilst I was writing the script
for this video. I tried this out myself and pots onto the random
word generator. And here's one of
my results that I picked out in just a
couple of minutes of looking random words
that I got that sounded okay together
will seek peanuts. Now at first, this may sound
like a weird name for a DJ, but I'm guessing
salted caramel fat when they first started. What I want you to do
as a quick exercise is to try and change your
perspective on this phrase. I want you to try and
imagine the phrase, seek peanuts being the
name of advancements. Dj. Imagine the DJ, seek
peanuts being onstage, a festival or a club plane to a huge crowd with their
own log or behind them. Imagine they also have a
professional looking at social media page
and website with some professional
looking pictures and videos also degenerate
large events. See if your perception of
this phrase, seek peanuts. No changes with this
added contexts. Can you imagine seek peanuts
as a plausible DJ name? For another quick exercise, what I want you
to do is think of any other famous DJ
names that first, without the added context
of who they are know as a DJ would sound
weird at first, but now you associate it with
a certain brand or person. It makes sense as a
DJ name. Sounds good. Here are some examples of
DJs and also some bands to that I could
quickly think of off the top of my head
when writing this, that if you were to
think of them on their own without added
context of who they are. Know what sound, weird. Purple Disco Machine,
Black Eyed Peas, two doors, cinema club,
an Arctic Monkeys. I'm assuming at
first these names would seem weird if you didn't know who they were or you heard them before they were famous. And they're random names
doesn't just work with DJ names or bands either. You can also try this exercise with normal household brands to one of the biggest
and best examples I like to use is Apple. Can you imagine how random
that would have sounded at first when trying to think
of a computer brand name. And someone suggests
naming it after a piece of fruit, but it works. In the next video,
we're going to take it a step further and look at making up a completely new
random word or phrase. See you there.
6. Making Up Words Or Phrases: Next we're going to cover
the option of making up a completely new word or
phrase for your DJ name. A couple of famous examples of this are scolex and deploy. These are both completely
made-up words that I know, both well-known DJ names. You could try and come up
with a word yourself that doesn't already exist the
top of your own head. But this might be
rather challenging. One option you can try
to help you is using a fake word generator and let that spark some
ideas for you. You could go to random
word generator.com, forward slash, fake
dash word dot PHP. Another option is to
use a tool online that combines words together
to make up new words. When I've used previously is the website word on scrambler, dotnet forward slash
word, dot combiner. Or you can just type in Google
yourself word combiner. You could type in up to four random words and let the website combine them for you in different ways and see if
that gives you any ideas. This may be a good option. If you want to use
parts of your name, you can put your first name and your last name in and see what
the different outcomes are and suggestions or I typed in my name of Jack and Bradley. I'm one of the oxygens it
suggested for me was gently. You can also try other words you may want to associate with, not just your name, just
for another simple example. I tried it with my
name. I typed in Jack and the word apex. And I got jetpacks, which could be then
changed to J dashed packs or jpegs or something
along those lines. Now the key to coming up
with a new made-up word is it has to be easy to
pronounce and remember, it has to be able to
roll off the tongue easily and be easy for
people to remember. It also helps if
it's easy to read, to note that being said, it doesn't necessarily
have to be spelled correctly
to be easy to read. And remember, if
anything, having a word, tweets are spelled slightly
different than it is known, this bulk can be
quite a good way to be unique and stand out. You can learn to
spell new words or variation of words quite
easily after you've seen them, the key is to make
them easy to read, easy to remember, and
easy to pronounce. Some good examples of DJ names
that do this are scream, but they're spelled
with a K instead of a C. There's also a
rehab that uses the number three
instead of the letter E. And then there's
also a dead mouse which adds a number five at
the end instead of the S and E. All of these are
fairly easy to read, pronounce, and remember,
but they all have different ways of spelling
them that make them unique. Dead most might be
slightly harder, but you still get the idea. This means that even though
some of them may not be completely unique phrases like seek peanuts that we got from our random word generator or gently like our
word combiner, they're still spelled
in a unique way, which makes them
good for D J names. Another great example
is by someone who actually took my
beginner DJ cos, and he's never professional DJ. They creatively came up with
the name, make you move. Which it wasn't until
I actually said the name out loud
that I realized how brilliant oven name it actually was being
said out loud. It obviously sounds
like make you move, but it's spelled in
its own unique way. And as an added bonus, the name is very relevant
to the topic of DJ into any unique name
is a huge advantage, whether it's a random word or phrase, or spelt differently. Because not only will people associate that name,
we've just you, but it should also
improve your chances of getting the domain name
and social media handles. And it will make it easier for
people to find you online. If people hear you deejaying, I want to search
for your line to follow you or listen
to your music. You ideally want to
be easy to find. If someone searches,
seek peanuts, or juggler on Google
or social media, I would assume I won't
have to compete with many other people to
rank at the top of the search results goes the same for words that
have unique spellings. Even though you may
say the word scream, if you were to spell it
with a k instead of a C, it will be easier
to find the DJ. This is also where logos
can come in handy so that people can then also see how
your DJ name is spelled. But we'll get onto that topic of DJ logos and another
video series. So they have it. You also have the
option to make up a completely new word or phrase, or tweak words or phrases with slightly different
spellings that will make them unique in that way.
7. Find The Right Balance: The main thing I would
say about choosing a DJ name is to make it
unique and easy to remember. But you need to try and find the right balance
between the two. If you try and
make it to unique, it might end up looking like a randomly generated
Wi-Fi password, like DJ T w k for S F5. This will be very unique, but not easy to remember. On the other hand, you don't
want to make it too common. So that is easy for
people to remember. If it is too common and easy
for people to remember, it is probably
because people are already familiar with
that word or phrase, which is what we don't want. E.g. these are some
just made up names. Dj too hot to handle
or DJ high pressure. Even though these types of
names may be tempting to use, because they are
already familiar and easy for people to remember. It is for those exact reasons. We do not want to choose
a name like this. These words or phrases already means something
in people's minds and they may already
have some competition if you were to search
for these terms online. So you won't completely
on that word or phrase. Don't get me wrong. These names can still work. But if we're trying to
get the best results, you want a balance
in-between being unique and easy to remember. Again, let's take a
look at the examples of my friends down under
more and make you move. These names are
easy to remember, but also very unique. You can take any popular DJ name for that matter and see if it passes the test of being both unique and easy to remember.
8. DJ or Not DJ: There is often the
debate on whether to have DJ in your name or not. In my opinion,
this is just don't tear on personal preference. But there are some pros and cons to having DJ in your name. You may find that if you
search online for famous DJs, not many of them have
DJ in their name. In this instance, what
you have to remember is these DJs are not just DJs, they are actually producers
first and then DJs second. If you look at the
festival lineups that include well-known DJs, you will find that they are
actually all producers. They get booked a DJ because people know the tracks
that they produce. People want to
attend the events to listen to the tracks
that they have made. This is the main
reason why most of them do not have
DJ in their name. But if someone was not a producer and they are
solely just the DEJ, you will often find
that they will most likely have
DJ in their name. One of the benefits
of having DJ and your name is that people know
what you do straight away. E.g. if someone says to you, Have you heard of seek peanuts or I'm going watching
doublet tonight, people don't straight away
know what seat peanuts or juggler is if they haven't
heard of it already. But if someone were
to say to you, Have you heard of
DJs seek peanuts, or I'm going to see
DJ job late tonight. It is little more
obvious what they are. Another benefit of
having DJ and your name. It may also help with
being found online. If someone were to search, DJs seek peanuts on
Google or social media, it may rank higher in the search results than if
it was just seek peanuts. One of the negatives
for having DJ in your name is that if you want to get into producing music, is probably best not to
be non-solid as a DJ, not having DJ in your
name may open up the option of view producing
music in the future. Now you may think
that you could just start off with DJ in your name. And then if you wanted to
go into producing letter, you can just take DJ off
your name, which is true. This is possible. But you then have to
consider if you're going to include having DJ in
your domain names and social media handles
from the start because some of these may
not be possible to change at a later date. I would say that if you
have no intention of becoming a producer
later down the line, it may be a good idea
to have DJ in the name. But if you want to
keep your options open or you just simply don't
want DJ in your name, then it may be best
to leave it out. But again, this is up to your personal
preference and what you would want for
your own DJ name.
9. Avoid Restricting Yourself: When choosing a DJ, I suggest trying to avoid
restricting yourself. What I mean by restricting
yourself is choosing a DJ name that suggests you only play a certain
type of music, or you do a certain
type of performance, or you have a certain
type of work, e.g. if you called yourself
something like DJ house master, this name would suggest that
you only play host music. Now, even though this may
be good in the short run, as it will quickly signal to people that you
play house music. The downside is this will
demonstrate to you in the future if you did want to transition into a
different genre. Another example is if you called yourself something
like the master DJ, this would suggest that you wear a mask all the time
when you're deejaying. Again, this might
sound cool at first, but it will mean you will always have to wear a mask when you're deejaying to stay true to
your DJ name and brand. Now you can still play only one genre of music
or have a certain quiet, like wearing a mask to build up your brand and niche as a DJ, but you don't need to make
it part of your DJ name. It can still work just as well
with a neutral ma'am, e.g. marshmallow and dead most are electronic music producers that generally the word
mask when they're DJ, but they can also
have the choice of not wearing masks
when they're DJ, if they didn't want to. And they can also produce
different types of electronic music,
which they also do. The names don't restrict
them in any way. By the way, a quick point, marshmallow is another
great example of a DJ name that is easy to remember but spelt
in a unique way. Now, on the other hand, the producer, Timmy trumpet, has restricted himself to making only music
with a trumpet. Now know that Timmy trumpet
is very successful, but my point being that he is now restricted to what he can produce if he wants to align
with this brand and DJ name, I would assume Timmy
would still be a very successful producer and would still be
known for producing the same type of
music with trumpets, even without having
trumpet in his name. Overall, I would
just suggest being careful not to restrict
yourself with your d, j, and m.
10. Finding Inspiration: When coming up with a DJ name, you can always look
at other DJ names for inspiration and ideas. One way in which you
can do this is to have a look at some festival
or event lineups. Just type in a big festival like Tomorrowland
or cream fields. Look at the different names that they have on their lineup. You can also look at big
platforms where you can download and listen to
music like Spotify, Beat Port, SoundCloud
or mixed Cloud. I will suggest having
a quick look in these places and not any
names that stand out to you, our resonate with you. Then you can try and pinpoint
and pick up on patterns to why these particular names are standing out to you
more than others. What you can do
is see if you can take these elements
that stand out to you about these DJ names and then use them in
your own DJ name. E.g. you might find
that names with just one word stand out
to you on names with two words are names that
rhyme on names with alliteration are names that
have numbers in and so on. The main reason I
like looking at other established DJ
names is because it helps me get over the
fact that when you first come up with a new
DJ name for yourself, it will probably sound silly
and weird to you at first. But when I see other
successful DJ names, that would have also
sounded silly at first, it makes me feel a bit
better than that one I've come up with is
probably not that silly. And once I am in established DJ, there is added context
to my DJ name. The name should sound good. Also, it makes me realize
that it is the brand as a whole that will give the name context and
make it sound good, not just the words themselves. Also, one thing to
bear in mind when looking at other DJ
names for inspiration. It's not get too caught up
with names that already exist. If you find a couple of
names that you like, it can be hard to
think of some new, completely original names
when you have them, other names on your mind, e.g. if you liked the name camel fat, it may be hard for you to think of other
names that are not similar to come or fats when
you have that on your mind. This is why I try
not to spend too long looking at names
that already exist. And I tend to use the random word generators
that I've mentioned in the previous videos to give
me completely original ideas. But that being said, looking at other DJ names can be a
good source of inspiration.
11. Make A List: When getting some
inspiration and ideas, I would suggest
just writing down as many different
ideas as you can, no matter how silly or
weird they may sound, have a big brainstorm
of names and ideas of words or phrases that
you may want to use. You can also write down some existing DJ
names if you like, as well as a list
of random words or phrases that you
may like the sound of. The bigger and more random
the list, the better. Don't think about it
too much and just get as many ideas as you
come down on paper. Then from that random list, I will suggest trying
to piece together some plausible DJ
names for yourself. Try to make up 2-5 different
plausible DJ names for yourself, not just one. Then once you have a
few ideas of names, I will suggest to
sit on them for a few days and see if any
of them growing here. What you will hopefully
find is that some of the names will
start to grow on you more than others
and they'll start to sound more
plausible as DJ names, I should get more
familiar with them. Or you may also find that the ideas that you've
come up with may turn into other DJ and M
ideas over a few days. But for this to happen, it is important for you to
wet and sit on the names for awhile because at first they
may sound weird, our silly. But after awhile of
you getting used to the idea of these
phrases being DJ names, they should then start
to sound good and become more plausible for
DJ names for you.
12. Ask A Friend: You can always try
asking a friend what they think the DJ names
that you have come up with. But I would be
cautious when doing this because they will
also probably be in the same situation as you were when you first heard
that new DJ names. The new DJ names won't
have any context yet. So most likely some weird
unseal it to your friend also, when they first hear it. If you were to ask a
friend for their opinion, you may want to explain the
idea of not my DJ name test. Then to imagine the new DJ
name you have come up with on an already established famous DJ and see if it still sounds good, then this way, your friend
can imagine the new DJ name with some kind of context and brand already
associated with it. If your friend Dan agrees
that it would sound good on another already
famous DJ than gray. It's probably a good DJ and m. But if your friends
still thinks it sounds silly or weird on an already established famous DJ than it may not be
the best name to use. Another thing you can
do is put your DJ and M ideas in the
discussion and Q&A section below
this video and get some more opinions on the DJ
names you will come up with. I'll be happy to reply
and give you my thoughts on any DJ name ideas
that are posted. And it will also give
the opportunity for other people to
give their thoughts and their DJ names too. If after that, you're
still not showing your DJ names and need
some further reassurance. You can also put your DJ names
through the log or test. Sometimes seeing the DJ names as written logos can
swear things for you. Seeing the DJ names
as actual logos may make you like
the DJ names more. I'll make you not
like them as much. After the series of videos. You can have a watch of
my DJ logo video series and see if making your DJ names into actual logos helps make you make your decision on
which DJ name you prefer.
13. The 'Not My DJ Name' Test: Now if you're like me and
you think that all your ideas for D J names sound
weird and silly at first, I will suggest putting
the name through the night my DJ name test. If a DJ name that I have
come up with sounds weird, all silly to me
at first to have, I would ask myself, what do I think it was
weird or silly if this name was another DJs name
and not my own DJ name. Sometimes a new DJ name
that you have come up with will sound weird
to you at first. This is because you will be linking the DJ name to yourself and you're not getting
established DJ within established brand. The DJ name doesn't yet
have any context to it. But if you can imagine another successful DJ that is not you with that same name, the name doesn't sound weird, are silly for them to have, then it should also be a
plausible DJ name for you, e.g. think of a famous DJ and see if the name that you've come
up with, with some good. If you swapped their name for the name that you
have come up with. Just like we did in
the previous video, you can imagine an
imaginary DJ up on stage at big festival with a crowd full of people
in front of them. Imagine them having a
DJ logo behind them. And imagine that they have professional looking
social media and website. If the name sounds
good for them, then also it's a good
DJ name for you too. But if you still think
it was so weird, all silly on another
already established DJ, and it's probably not
the best DJ name to use.
14. Check Availability: Finally, and probably
most importantly, what you need to do if you have a few DJ Nam ideas is
check if the domain name and all the social media and DJ platforms have that name
available for you to use. You need to check
that no one else is using that DJ name already. Or if anyone is using a similar name to what you
potentially want to use, I will suggest
checking if the.com domain name is available. You just need to go
to a website like godaddy.com and search to
see if the domain name is available and also check if
the username is available on all social media platforms and DJ platforms that
you may want to use, such as Instagram,
TikTok or YouTube, SoundCloud or mixed Cloud
if it is available, you also need to check if anyone else is using anything
similar where people may get
confused with you and your brand or names that may rank higher than you
in the searches. You just need to search for
the name that you want to potentially use and see what comes up in the search results. Another good idea would be also check for any hashtags that may include your
potential DJ name and see what comes up for them. And if they're
already being used, you ideally want to have no
competition or as little competition as possible when it comes to your
online presence. If someone else is
already using the name, IF this on using a very similar name to the
one that you want to use, I would suggest maybe
trying another DJ.
15. Summary: Okay, so to quickly summarize
my main tips and advice, when it comes to
choosing a DJ name, I would avoid using your
real name as your DJ name. And I would suggest choosing either a variation
of your real name, random word or phrase, or a completely made-up
word or phrase. The key to choosing a good DJ and M is you want
to try and make it unique and easy to remember to get some
inspiration and ideas. You can use a combination
of looking at already established
DJ name is online and using online tools such as
random word generators, word combiners, the
sources and rimes on when you are looking for inspiration and
thinking of ideas. Make a long list of already established
DJ names you'd like, and also of any words
you may want to use as your own DJ
name from this list. Then try and piece together 2-5 possible DJ names
that you may like. Then I would suggest to wait and sit on these DJ names for a few days to see which
ones grow on you the most, then the ones that
you like the most, check the all online
demand names and social media handles
are available and that no one else is
using a similar name. Once you've done all
that, you should have your final degenerate. If you have decided on a DJ
name or you have a few ideas, let us know in the
discussion and Q&A section of this
course below this video. Now the next step after this, to then create
yourself a DJ logo, as I've mentioned in
a previous video, you may want to try it
a few DJ name ideas for logos first before
finally deciding on one. Sometimes seeing the
different DJ names as actual logos can make you feel differently about your different DJ name options. You can watch my video
series on creating DJ Logos next to turn your DJ
names into reality, I hope you've enjoyed
this series of videos on choosing a degenerate, and I hope you've gained
some great value from it. I look forward to hearing
your DJ name suggestions and ideas in the discussion Q&A
and the project section, make sure you check
out my profile and also check out to be a dj.com for more DJ
related content. Thanks for watching. Bye for now.
