Perfect for those who are just starting out digital art. You don't need any prior experience in this class about learning the fundamentals while getting comfortable with the Procreate interface. We will begin by setting up your Canvas and selecting simple brushes. Then use basic shapes like circles, rectangles to build the foundation of your character. Using layer and alpha log transform tools and simple sketching techniques, you will learn how to construct a character step by step without feeling overwhelmed. We will also look at how small design choices such as proportions, facial features, and expressions can give your character personality. I will show you how to keep your workflow clean and efficiently using procreate features. By the end of this class, you will have created your own simple character design and gained confidence in using Procreate for your future projects. Let's tie in. 2. Painting Base Colors: Welcome. In this class, we will paint a quick character with simple shapes. At first, I start from the red, and I will paint one shape like this. I'm holding my pencil and connecting the lines and will fill this part. And basically, it is a mushroom character, and I will select these layers and will alpha here, and I will select a darker color here, and I will apply like this. And I will go to the lighter color and I will apply the lightest color here. And after it, I will select the much more light colors over this layer with opening new layers. I will create one shape like this here, another shape here, depending on the surface. And one shape here and one shape here and one shape here. Go to the layer again and Alpha lock it and make the colors much more darker. And this time with ear brush, make some parts of it looks dark, especially these corners in the dark. So I made them really dark. And after this, I will open another new layer under them, and I will go to the line brush and we select this brush. And this time, I will paint the middle of the. And for background, I will open an add new layer and make the background much more grayish. Like this. 3. Painting Face: And again, I'll f lock this layer and make this part much more darker and corners will be really darker, just like this. And middle of it can be much more lighter. Just like this. And after this part, I will zoom in to the face of it, and I will select light brush, and with a naive layer, I will paint one circle with holding my pencil. I'm tapping the screen with another finger and will make it like this and duplicate it and move it to the left. And now pinch your fingers together and alpha log. And after this point, I will make the eye sockets much more darker. You can use some bluish gray for this tap or make your illustration much more dynamic. Just like this. And you can even open another new layer under this part and select darker tones. Here, just like this. I'm putting the drop shot of it and open another new layer over the eye sockets. And I will use green colors, and we paint one circle like this. And I will lock this layer again. I will use one textured brush. If you have any textured brush like brush stroke, you can use for creating this texture. I used my own brush set here and we add some light here, and I will go back to the lime brush, and I will paint the eye here like this. And I will put highlights here and here and here. Then duplicate the layer and put the middle of it. After this, open another new layer and this time, we will paint them. I started like this and I completed it like this and make it dark here, just like this and put the color of this thing. It looks really sweet right now, and we can increase the details of it. And let's continue by adding different kind of details. I will collect these details and make 1 second, make the face much more like this. At the top of the mushroom. And we can add some much more we brrand size here like this. 4. Adding Details: And we can put another if layer under this thing and put the fits and color in it and duplicate it just like this and do it same for the Oh, sorry, for the arms. Like this. I have cute arms, two cute arms. And after this, I will open another new layer over it and will make this cute glos. And duplicate it, move it to the other part and flip horizontal. And this time, we have really cute look of it. And for feeds, open another new layer and paint two shape like this. One looking at like smile face, one set face together, and collect the points from here to here like this. And it is simply like this and flip horizontal and put the other part. And for now, what we can do we can play with the mushrooms head. 1 second. I will select this brush, select verb and move the mushrooms head a bit differently to make it much more interesting. And it looks really cool right now. And what we can do is putting him together to some really good background. I will select this brush, and we'll paint grass here like this and we'll paint it like this. And 5. Painting Background: Can be much more lights here like this and open another new layer under it. And this time it will be like sky just like this. And for the air, we will use white colors for create some really cool and sweet clouds here. Oops, sorry. And maybe I need to collect these parts. It's interesting. Okay, maybe we can make it bigger like this. And like this. Yeah. And for shadow, open another new layer over here and select darker color. Then you can put the shadow of the character here like this. And you can even zoom in and make one nose to do character, maybe it will look much more interesting. 6. Complete Illustration: Me like this. And we have light on here like this and here like this. And for gloves, we can make it like cotton, details here, and here and put the details here. And it looks really cool right now, and you can add different details if you wish. For example, I will make sun here. A bit much more bigger, just like this. And collect all layers and open another new layer and select screen layer mode with smooth shading brush. You can apply a really secondary look here with this effect like it really good effect. And for lasting, you can play with the curves and give the shadows much more visible and saturation, much more saturated because the children book illustrations have really good amount of detail. And it was similar and really basic illustration for beginners and hope you enjoy this process and see you in the next videos.
