1. Course presentation: Hello. My name is Alexandra, and I'm a professional musician. I'm a PhD student at the Music University. I play the piano and I also sink. I designed the scores for beginner singers or for music lovers who want to discover their singing voice. In this course, I will give you practical advice. We will to exercises together. And I promise you that by the end of this 10 lessons you will be better at singing. I will help you improve your singing skills through a technique that it's used by all the great singers nowadays. So if you're ready, let's start our course. 2. 1. Relax before singing: Hello. Welcome to our first singing lesson. My name is Alexandra, and I'm happy to be here with you before we start our actual singing exercises. I want you to understand how important it is to breathe correctly and relax your body before seeing. So in this lesson, we will do some relaxing exercise. Our first relaxing exercise is kind of silly, but I want to do it because it's important for you to relax your upper body because the only part engaged in singing is this part your lower body. So nothing has to happen around here. You have to be very flexible, very relaxed. Okay, so a little bit of moment here, OK, just relax. Everything. So our first exercise, what we do it and then you will do with with me. I place my heads here and I just drag my my face down like it's very happy because we have to be relaxed here. Okay. Can do it with me, you know, I know it sounds silly and it looks silly, but trust me, it's a very helpful exercise. Now, the same exercise you can do. They start heads here and drug your face down like It's heavy. And while you do that, get your tongue out like its Have it. This is Syria, but it doesn't matter. We have to learn how to sing better. So we have to relax. Get it out. Okay. And again, just let it out that everything is happening and goes down, okay? And again? Very well. Let's get to our second exercise. It involves liberals. Watch, we do it and then you will do it with me. Uh, so why do I do that? Because I need my face to be relaxed and my neck control zone. So your head down and the high pitch and you duly pros on your pitch goes down, but your head goes up. So a contrary movement, this is helpful. Trust me. So again, um, don't force anything, okay? I don't want a force liberal. I don't need it. And something very let it comes naturally. Oh, your child in your plane. Okay, No do with with the same exercise. Uh, very well, We will do the opposite off this one. So we start here again in the opposite direction. Very well. You can do this. Exercise is to relax before singing. It's very important to have a relaxed body. Flexible one. Because you will sound different when you stress everything. When you when you clench everything, you get your shoulders up and everything is stress yourself is not that good. So you have to be very in control of her body to do exercises that help you relax. Okay? Movement. Movement? I don't know. Just move your head. Do everything you need to be relaxed here. But they're engaged here and very strong in your in your lower body. Okay, It's you Next time. You know, next lesson. We will learn how to read correctly. Forcing Thanks for watching by. 3. 2. Breathing: Hello. Welcome back to our second singing lesson. I'm Alexandra, and I'm happy to be here with you again. This lesson I will show you some exercises you should do to improve your really? Because the breeding from singing is different from the day to day break. I said before that the only part engaged in singing is our lower body. So keep that in mind and ex everything and watch me do the first days of size. And then you will do it with me. So place your hands on your big cage and he say, with your mouth a little bit open and while earning Hey, imagine that you're expanding. Okay? Spanks your like a balloon and gets in the bullet. But only this part is engaged. Okay? So don't bring your shoulders up when you have. I don't need that and everything to be Relax here and here. You have to feel that you're getting bigger, OK? Watch me Do so. My hands here and I so you can see I'm expanding. Watch me do it again. So I get bigger. Okay. Now do with with me Place your hands on your EQ age to feel expanding and he So it has slowly to get a lot of months of a big amount off air in and again Very well and again. So you have to focus on your hands being forced to move on. Your case being forced to move, Just expand here, okay? I don't need this. I don't need I don't know what they'll say you can do. I just need this low parts of your body, this lower body part I just expect. And again, the best exercise involves the same breathing technique. But we will try to improve the way. Exhale as well what we do so with a slowing gentle, Not it's what I get the air out equally and very in control. So when you eat hell, you forced your hands to move and then when you accept, you could slow the I don't need this forced s I really just I don't know muscles that are nothing controlled. What has to be very slow, very equal. Okay, so let's do it together. Because while singing you will do this. You will. You will try to get the air where you wanted to go and you have to have a lot of air to see long phrases. Musical. So I have to be in control of your degree, have to know how to eat here and to excel. Correct. OK, let's do the sacrifice together. So now you can try to do along as long as you can. All you can try to do with in a very controlled manner it doesn't matter. It improves your breathing as well. Let's do it again. If you feel a bit dizzy, he's okay. Nothing happens. It just if you're not used, breathe in this manner and again very well. Now we will do another exercise that it's similar to the previous one. But this one will help you be in control off your diaphragm muscle. You've heard about this muscle. It's situated here and it goes down to make room for the air we inhale. And then it goes up like this when we when we get you out. So we have to be in control off this muscle in order to go slowly up so you can get the air out equally not goes down quickly. So So this is also your diet for muscle that goes like that. But we have to be in control off the muscle in order to to get the year out, as we want. Forced quick as we want. So watch me do this exercise and try to concentrate when you will do it with me. Try to concentrate on this area on this muscles the muscles around here. Okay, so your lower but nothing stressed Here, watch me do it so short now. It's not that that's stressful. It's with a lot of air and I move here. Some of this area notice to do shorts I don't need from here. I'm sure you sense the difference. You feel the difference between these two sons now do with me. And if the young do a long forget your out and just relax. Yes, you have to feel that your muscles are moving and you're kind of doing thickness or something. Okay, let's do it again. Very well. You can do this exercises every day for about 567 minutes and you will improve your breathing four singing and you will be very in control of your lower body and off your muscles. In our next lessons, we will do some warm up exercises and then get to the vocal technique exercises. Thanks for watching. See you next time. Bye. 4. 3. Find your singing voice: Hi there. I'm Alexandra, and this is our third singing lesson. Welcome back in this lesson, I will show you what you have to do to find your singing voice. Your singing voice is not very different from your speaking voice or it shouldn't be so if you hear people speaking normally and then to start to sing in a weird and every way like this this is weird. I can't be speaking like this and see this. It's weird. And I cannot be seen speaking like this long, almost somewhere in the back. This is weird. You can see that I'm making a weird movement and I get my more was somewhere in the back to sound more and more fat. You have to find your singing voice from your speaking voice. You are unique. So your voice has to be unique the way speak is the way you sing. And it's a unique way. So don't try to imitate great artists. Don't try to sound somebody else because this is not good. You have to start from your old singing voice and try to make it sound better and better every day. Okay, The first thing I want you to do is to say your name like this. My name is Alexandra. Just talk to me. I know he tweeted you're talking to a computer or No, it doesn't matter. My name is Alexandra. And then I started to speak slower. My name is Alexander, and then I start to make music with my words. But in the same vocal tone vocal range they're comfortable in while speaking. So my name means Alexandra. So somewhere around there, I can't say my name is Alexandra. And this thing you can you can you can hear how weird it would be to do that. So focus on digging your own pitch your perfect speaking pitch When you say hello. My name is Alexandra. And then hello. My name is Alexandra. Make music with your words. Your like her on a Broadway Show your physical. Okay? So be comfortable with yourself. Relax. Breathe correctly and everything and find your unique voice. I'm very sure that it sounds good. We can make it sound better off course because you're beginning. But it sounds good as it is because your speaking voice is normal. It can be weird now, after you do this exercise with your speaking voice and making music with your words and trying to find your singing voice. We have to improve our bubbles. That means the weight they sound on where they are They are placed in your in your tubes. Or remember your YouTube. They're just closed to vibrate. So we will start with E. And I will say, Just remember to breathe correctly and to be relaxed and everything, and I will say e speaking. OK, so e in my own vocal tone where I feel comfortable. Okay, I feel comfortable speaking here. E I don't speak. Okay, So everywhere you're comfortable pick your own pitch. So after this tree is speaking, he is. I tried to make music with them on the same beach like this e in e So I make music with them almost the same bitch e a. You have to feel the vowel in the same place when you speak and when you sing, But you just make music with do this exercise and then try it with another bubble like yeah , yeah, yeah making German So I say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah and you have to do this exercise is to feel that you know your singing voice, that you're comfortable with it. So then you can bring it to a better sound. This is awful today. See you next time by 5. 4. Vocal warm-up: Hey there. Welcome back, Alexandra Fear. And this is video number four from our singing lessons. In this lesson, I will show you some warm up exercises that are very efficient. So the first exercise I like to do to start warming up my voice This is after I relax my body and do some breathing exercises. I did this exercise show you how it has to be done. And then I will play at the piano and you will sink. If you say it. Remember to keep your body in a straight position. Your spine? A city straight. Okay, now this at this. But somewhere in between be very engaged in your lower body. Remember to collect, correct in everything. And I start doing this. I mean, so I say mean me coming. I saying meaning And then I go in the humming way. Me, I go having this is something OK, So mean me mean three times Me? Yeah, me and I try to do it in a low voice because this helps me to warm up better. Okay, sure. Another one. Me be being being mean being me Make me You can say I mean a little bit allow their Because it helps you get the sense where where you want to be to not be stuck in your truth and neck. Just relax. Everything okay? May May And be very engaged here to have enough hair to go in a low. Okay, so keep the air there. Just bring it out. Even now, it's your turn to do it. So male voices from this bitch. Please stop here, okay? And breathe. Uh, uh huh. Very well. On with three. Mm. Ah, Well, take your time to read Very gentle with yourself. Don't force anything. Just try to feel Try to make your voice this'll which we breathe. Ah, yeah. Help from this bitch. Read. Uh, this bitch, uh, to expand. Uh, grew. Now the female voices, please. From this niche do with with you keep a no voice catered four second thing. Relax. Breathe me being I missed one there. Let's go. Another one. Me. Very well. Now our next warm up exercise involves liberals. We did that. No relaxing video. This well, But now it's certain pitch I want to hear from you. Eso it sounds something like this. So liberals on forcing I don't want. I want a normal critic. Everything is relaxed. Just breathe correctly. And then I do liberals. Certain beach. I guess he take my time to breathe, to feel good and everything. I don't I don't rush into the other the other beach, so I just relax, breathe and take my time to warm my my foot. Ok, now the male voices please, from this bitch. Okay, well, take your time Time, Uh, force anything. And yes, one. Now, any time you need to stop because you feel it's too high for you or something, you can stop and do the warm ups in your own vocal range. You don't have to force anything. Okay? The fuel voices, please. From this speech for something, a little voice if you need to stop to stop. Oh, hi. Don't change anything. Don't try to be loud or just let it flow. That flow, Peter stressing So the great way to think when the music goes up is that the music is going down. So this way you will. You just fool your body and you won't clench everything because you won't be stressing. Oh, my God. Hi. Notice. Coming. Stress everything. So let me give you an example. So I have to see Oh, if I think about the high pitch, I will. Just something like this, uh, distress and everything will just just stress. And my muscles will be clenched. I don't want that. So I think that I think about this exercise like it's an exercise. It goes down like this. Actually, it is going up, but I don't have to think about it that way so I can fool my body. I can be in control of my own body. My mind is in control of everything. Okay, so So it's going down the same. Imagine that is the same north every time. Or that this is going down. Don't think about it. I have to put to the high note. This won't help you. OK, so imagine that is the same pitch the same pitch on you haven't even sound. And you want stress anything. OK, so this is the right way to think about high parts. The same with songs. When you have a high part of the song don't stress about don't stress about and told me that the high part is coming? No, it's in the same place is the same legs. It goes down, it goes down and I'm above the notes and not under the note. I don't try to catch them. I'm above everything. My mind is above everything. This is awful today. These exercises are very good for warming up your voice. See you next time. Bye. 6. 5. Vocal technic 1: Hi, guys. Welcome back. This is video number five And this lesson we will just a vocal technique exercises before that. I want to tell you some things about our vocal registers. So we have our chest register our head register at our made A registered our chest register . Gives us the chest, boys. Somewhere around here, our head register gives us the head force. Oh, this is the head versus high and somewhere it wiped the sandpiper. It some around here in the head resonate er's and we have the middle voice. That means that the South it's somewhere out here by Brits Summer here. Now let's do some exercises for these middle voice because this is a voice that is kind of hard to find to get and have to isolate this part. And we will do a nasal and flat sound in order to get this middle voice. Because the middle voice is a transition between the chest force and the head voice. And when you will be able to erase the breaks between this tree registers, then you will be able to sing anything you want in any matter you want. So let's see what were first vocal technique Exercise regarding the middle voice. Isolate your middle resonator so get a flat at nasal sound like dance a flat and nasal sound. It doesn't sound good. What? It will improve your singing and we will do an exercise. This sounds like this. A very slept and laser cells. Just get it out and keep it there. Keep it there. Don't getting your chest President. Don't Don't bring it up in your have resident. Just keep it there a No nine. And I hear that this kind of I know it sounds loud, but it doesn't matter. This helps you find your resonator. It helps you control the sound. And you will be able to get what he wanted to be when you wanted to be there. So male voices please from this Ah Now the female voices please from this bitch name A a a a Okay, very well. The next exercise uses the same vocal resonate er's So you have to isolate again The middle , the middle voice and we will dio can't sell it Sounds something like this. No, young, young, young, young, short and very loud Millennium yourselves flat and Basil. Okay, No No, no younger now. No, no, no, no. And they were doing one now. Young, young l They're short of nasal kept sounds. Male voices, please. For this speech? No, like a plate. Very well. You have to be very loud and very nasal Now. Female voices, please, from this bitch. No, no, no, no. This is all for today. Thanks for watching. See you next time. Bye. 7. 6. Vocal technic 2: Hello. Welcome back to lesson number six. In this video, we will do some other vocal technique exercises to try to get small transitions between our voices. Our registers. So chest boys, middle voice, head voice. Our first exercise helps you flip quickly between this tree registers. And in time you will be able to do this in songs and the audience won't hear the way you go to your voices. They will here. Just a beautiful piece of music. Now let me show you how the exercise will go. I will die too. You step by step But now I just want to show you how it will sound. It will be something like this. I will do two sounds on my head voice and then to south on my middle voice like this I So the head voices at the middle of the night. Isn't that so again, I somewhere in between, it doesn't have to sound very good. A very beautiful I just wanted to get the cells in the right. Resonate er's case of tried to do Oh, I get it way I get lower and we will use our chest voice as well. Like this Oh, no. I have to kind of voices that we were trying to do with. Now let's see male voices from somewhere around around the year. So head, voice, voice No, no, I Okay, let's do it together. Uh, again, please. Very well. Another one in the same manner to to make from this and again E wanted to bring in your chest voice as well. So just one voice, two middle days of sounds and one chest voice. But I'll tell you again, had middle middle chest okay, lets you together and again Hey, the same matter head, chest and again This one head the next picture uses male voice, little voice chest, always chest voice So people middle just just Okay okay, Very well. Love the female voices, please. From this bitch eso first had hep middle middle. Okay. No, no. And again the same thing. This pitch now from this bitch we will do head middle middle chest, give you the same matter. Well, let's try to do male male, chest, chest. Let's see. Get the same one. This was awful today. Thanks for watching by 8. 7. Belting technic: Hey, guys, Welcome back. I'm happy to be here with you again. This lesson we will talk about the belting technique. But before that I just want to explain to you why it is useful to do off sort of vocal technique exercises. Well, we train our muscles, we train our bearings and then when we get to the actual singing, our brain gives orders to our body in our body knows exactly what to do with the music. So because we train every part of our body and we sing in different kind of vocal techniques than when we get to the actual singing, our body will just our mind. Our body would just remember certain positions and registers air resonator. And it will apply if the things we've learned automatically and that is very useful because you will get a beautiful singing sound. The best technique. It's about a chest voice in a high pitch for a high register. So when you want to sing high notes, you usually get the feeling that you need to use your head voice rather know maybe your middle voice. But this bathroom technique help to use the chest. Voice on high bitches as well, so it is very useful. We have to train our body in order to feel what this belt tightening means. And then we will be able to use it in the actual singing. Now, let me show you what exercises I do to train my belting technique. The first exercise I like to do is this one you have to do singing like us, screaming kind of sound from your chest voice. So it was creamy, kind of sound, allowed one, but with a lot of air, nothing has to be forced and very relaxed, So screaming, but in a controlled way. Okay, watch me do it. And then we would be together. So I say a a kind of a screaming chest voice, but very controlled and weak A lot of their remember to breathe and again a another one a a just cream but in the control musical way on another one. Hey, this is what I do for my belting me for improving my belt techniques. And remember to breathe correctly, don't force anything and just get a allowed screaming self but controlled one, it's your turn to do it. Male voices, please from this beach stress anything out sound but controlled one. The last one. If you feel you can go higher with the bitch and do it, go higher. But don't force yourself from the beginning. Just go slowly daily with little sex, Much secure ones. Don't Don't try to be some body else. And don't try to force your voice because you have to have patience with yourself Now Female voices, please. From this bitch. Well, a a just cream. The last one. Our second exercise. It's something like this On 1/5 I say, Okay, so kind of get a lot of air on the high park and just let my mind controlled. Go free and I get allowed some people out of there. Now do thinking Hey, now, male voice, please, from this pitch. Okay, the most for sending imagine is the same pitch like we thought before. Like you're you're doing the same pitch or you're going down. Then imagine you're going up because it would be a stressed one. It's a it goes down. Wait. A lot of air control waste one way. Okay, Now, female voices, please, from this bitch. So e Well, okay. Don't be afraid of the high pitch is just a bitch. Normal one. Just imagine that is going down and everything should be normal. Don't stress anything open everything. Very This is offer today. Thanks for watching by. 9. 8. Twang voice: Hi, guys. Welcome back. This is less number eight, and in this video we'll talk about that way. What is the 20 voice or what is a Twix South? Well, this kind of sound is similar to the one that Box Barney uses in his cartoons. So keeping that in your mind, just imagine that you want to brighten your music so you can have bride music or bright sounds parts over some or darker bards. It depends on what you have to say in your music. So if you want to get a bride sound than the twang, it's very useful or high parts that you want to make south bright. So the 20 voice is a term that it's used for a flat, nasal, loud sound. It is similar to the middle voice, but it's kind of louder and maybe annoying in your exercises. But in the actual singing, it will be really pleasant and really useful. You will get a loud sound. You'll get a very relaxed one. You won't hurt anything, but you will be loud and very precise, and that is very helpful. So I will show you what exercise I do for improving and exercising my twang. The exercise sounds like this When you will do with place. Don't be afraid to be silly. Just play with your voice. Experiment with your voice because in the actual singing you will sound better. So let me show you how the exercise goes, I think is how the exercise goes. So when I go higher, I keep the same position, the same bucks Bonnie Sound and I get allowed. What relaxed some and that is that is really great and bright one so you can hear. It's kind of a plank from this beach. I can hear how loud I am, and I'm not making any effort from this bitch. Eso browse and loud, and from this speech I got to high pitch and relax. I don't feel any effort. I have to open up your voice and just give brightens your sound thin, and maybe it's loud and annoying. That gives it before, but it's just an exercise. And then, in the actual singing, you'll hear that it can be beautiful, and it can be not just Coverdell been covering up a little bit, and it will sound good on certain bowels on certain parts of music. Now it's your turn to do it. So male voices from this speech, please. So 9999999 Okay. From this bitch. Let's go. Don't be afraid to be silly. Just play with the sounds. And again, I think this bitch now effort Less. Okay, effortless. And one now, female voices, please. From this bitch. One don't get free to be loud and 20 from this speech. So this kind of sound helps you get effortless, loud, precise, high parts of a song. And that is good. So this is the twang. This is all for today. Thanks for watching by. 10. 9. Riffs and runs: Hi. Welcome back. I'm happy to be here with you, Alexandra. Here in this lesson, we will talk about riffs and runs if sirens are used in all kind of musical styles. So in order to make your music more interesting, you have to train your muscles to do riff severance in the musical piece. And then everything will some more. I don't know more interesting, but be careful not to use This rips and runs too often because it can be kind of like you add too much sold and pepper in something you eat and that is not really good. It's just something you have to add here and there to make your music more interesting. So I will show you how you can get started in achieving great relief. Severance. I want to show you what exercise I do with my students to improve the celebrants. So I just improvised from one pitch and I go slow like this. Uh, so this melody this short multi I use in an exercise and then I get it quicker and quicker . If you cannot do it quicker right now, you will be able to do with later. I don't know, maybe in a week to tree. I don't know. The important thing is to get better at re several. So you have to train everything. Don't you have to have patience with your body. So remember to bring correctly, relax everything. And just to this slowly Uh uh, Just enjoy my seat. Uh, that I will go weak on the same pitch. Uh uh, Quicker on higher, quicker and higher. Quicker. And you will get better. But you have to have patience with your muscles that make your body another important thing that I want to tell you about three servants. You always have to think about them as a single pitch. Like from the beginning to the end. You have to have the same energy. Because if you think about it like something that begins and ends, you will lose energy on the road like this on. Do you get out of air and you will lose energy and you won't be so. I don't know. So so involved in in the exercise. You have to think about it as a single page or a single south with the same energy from the beginning to the end. You have to be involved in it, like and on get it to the end with the same energy. Because this is the only way researchers will work. Maybe it will be something longer.
