1. Introduction: I have made up to $5,000 in a single day on these
content creation streets. So don't let anybody
tell you that you cannot make content creation
your full-time job. If you want to make
a living doing what you love as a content creator, then this class is
definitely for you. Welcome. I'm Vanessa
and I currently run a YouTube channel
called launched to wealth. I took my passion
for personal finance and merged it with my
mission to empower women and built a platform
with over 300,000 subscribers in just one year. And through the income
streams that I'll shed light on in this class, I've been able to generate a six-figure income in
my content business. And because of that,
I've been featured in major media like Business
Insider and Essence magazine. And that has opened
up major doors of opportunities that I never thought I would have access to. I'm going to teach
you how to build a solid social media presence, grow your audience,
and scale your income. We're going to cover
topics like choosing a platform, building
an audience, avatar, developing
content pillars, and of course,
monetizing your content. After watching this class, you will be well on your way
to making content creation, your side hustle, or
even your full-time job. So without further ado, let's get into the meat and
potatoes of this class.
2. Class Project: As you probably
can already tell, this is not an inspirational
or motivational class. There's a time and a place for that hint, my YouTube channel. In this class, we will perform a practical exercises that
will help you go from stuck and unsure if
content creation is for you to empowered and ready
to start a new side hustle. So you're going to need
a sheet of paper and a pen to work through
some of these exercises. This class is about 30 min long, so block out some time
during your lunch break, go to a place where you
would not get distracted. And let's begin
3. Choose a Platform: In this lesson, we're
going to discuss what to consider when deciding which social media platform to choose as your main platform. Of course, you know, we
have the tech talks and the youtubes and the
Instagrams and all the things. But you have to pick a main one and then
support platforms. But how can you tell
which one is for you? That's what we're talking
about in this class. Not all platforms are created equal and while
they're all great, you do not have to be
on every single one in order to be successful and make a living on social media, you could choose one, like I did, GO ALL
IN and diversify further down the line for many reasons, especially
financial reasons. My platform of
choice is YouTube. And I will walk you through a simple exercise that
helped me arrive at this choice so that you too can pick the one that
works best for, you know, YouTube is the best. Here are a few questions
to ask yourself when deciding what
platform to go with. One, how much time can I
commit to content creation? To? How do I plan to
monetize my content? Three, Who do I want to reach? Now let's dive into each
of these questions. How much time can I commit
to content creation? Time commitment is an important factor
to consider because the different platforms require different
time commitments. For example, it might take
1 min to type out a tweet, but a few hours to create
one YouTube video that said, the earning potential for the various platforms
also vary widely. And that brings us to
the next question. How do I plan to
monetize my content? This is the question
that separates creators who create as a hobby from creators who make a
living creating content. There are several ways to make a living as a content creator, and we'll talk more specifically about the different ways
later in the class. But this is a very
important question to ask yourself because while Instagram does not pay
most creators directly yet, YouTube and TikTok do. However, YouTube is still
the highest paying platform thanks to something magical
called Google ad cents. And the word is
AdSense, not AdSense. Because when we hear a sense, we think of coins, not a lot of money, no,
YouTube pays dollar. Craters on TikTok
can expect to earn a CPM of 22 to $0.04. By the way, anytime
you hear the term CPM, all it means is cost per mille, which is another way of saying
cost per thousand views. So a creator who
receives 1,000 views on their TikTok video can earn as little as two to
$0.04 on my channel, my CPM has been as high as
$50 per thousand views. Compare $0.02 to $50, like it's literally
a no-brainer. This means that if
your CPM is $40, for example, and your video
gets up to 100,000 views. The CPM from just that one
video before thousand dollars, $4,000 from one video.
But here's the thing. Even on YouTube, CPMs
and vary widely. Some YouTubers still get
like $1 per thousand views, even though channels like mine get like $50 per thousand views. But I talk more about that in my flagship program called
the paint tuber Academy. If you want to sign up for that, the link will be
somewhere down here. Because you're
taking this class, you get a discount code. So look for the link
somewhere down below and sign up quickly to
secure your spot. The third question
you need to ask when deciding what platform
to build on is, who do I want to reach? Knowing your desired
audience demographic is important for
choosing a platform. Though we'll talk about
something very important, your audience avatar
later in this class. At this point, you
want to factor in the age group of your
target audience. For example, if you want
to reach baby boomers, Facebook might be your place. If you want to
reach millennials, Instagram and YouTube
might be for you. And if you want to reach Gen Z, then YouTube and TikTok
might be for you
4. Build an Audience Avatar: First of all, what is
an audience avatar? Are we talking about movie? What are we talking about? I'm not you call down, relax. Okay. Audience avatar is a representation of
an ideal viewer, follower or customer. It answers the question, who do I want to attract? I personally believe that
the best audience avatar for you is you, because people are
naturally drawn to people who remind
them of themselves. So why do you need
an audience avatar? And audience avatar
is important because when you know exactly
who you're speaking to, it becomes so much easier
to come up with products, services, and relevant
content pillars. Instead of just
creating on a whim, throwing spaghetti on the wall and hoping something sticks, it gives direction
to your creativity, which leads to growth and
consequently to income. So the golden question, how do you build an
audience avatar? Let's do one together. First question, how
old is this person? Remember when we're talking
about an audience avatar, we're talking about one-person, your ideal person, who
you're gonna be talking to in your videos,
in your captions. How old is this person? How much does this person make? Is this person
struggling financially? Is this person to a Dr. what's the person's
income bracket? What are the person's interests? What does this
person care about? What are they interested in? What kinds of topics would
they want to hear about? What are this
person's pain points? That loyal followers,
you have to be the person who addresses
your audience. Avatar has pain points. So think of what their
pain points are and how you can use your messaging
to meet them where they are. What does this person value? What matters to this person, right, that in this section? And finally, what platform is this person most likely
to spend their time on?
5. Develop Content Pillars: What our content pillars. Think of content pillars as the broad themes that your
content will be about. I typically limit my
content pillars to three topics so that
my subscribers and followers can know
exactly what to expect when they land on any of
my social media pages. How do you build
content pillars? All you have to do is
look at the answers from the audience avatar
exercise and ask yourself what your audience
avatar would like to see based on her values, interests, and pain points. After doing that, lists out all the topic ideas
that come to mind. And then group similar wants together and call each
group a content pillar. Remember, the goal is to have
up to three content pillars
6. The Influence Formula : Now that you have so many ideas, you would have no problems
coming up with what to create. However, not all
creators have influence. And for creativity to become something that
pays your bills, you need to have influence. And I have a secret
formula for influence. And we're gonna go over
that in this lesson. Value plus relate ability plus consistency
equals influence. Now let's break down each
piece of the formula. First value. This is the most
important piece. First, you want
to make sure that you're creating content that actually aligns with what
your audience avatar needs. Then you also need reliability. Sure that you're
creating content that is relatable to your
audience, avatar. You want to speak her language. And the best way to
do this is by coming up with an avatar that
is similar to you. So that when you attract people, you can be sure that you're
attracting your tribe. Then we have consistency. This is the piece that
ties everything together. When you show up consistently, your audience will learn to
anticipate your content. And that will build trust, which is the
backbone for earning a living as a content creator. And this leads us to the
next section, monetization
7. Content and Money: It will not be me if I create a class and we don't
talk about the bag, that's why we're talking about content monetization
in this lesson. Because if you do all of this and it's not to
make money than honey, you have a hubby which is
great, which is great. But if we're talking
about making a living and not going broke, then we need to talk
about monetization. This is a more practical lesson, but it's also very important. Here are a few ways that I have made money from my content. Number one, I create content on a platform
that pays creators. Well, I know that
we have options to create content on different
platforms as Instagram, there's TikTok,
there's Pinterest, but YouTube is still
the highest paying one. And that's why I chose YouTube. I'm so passionate about it. And if you have decided
that YouTube is also where you want
to create content, that I encourage you to
join my flagship program, the pay tuber Academy. I am sharing all my secrets
about growing on YouTube, monetizing my channel, having
a high CPM and everything else you need to know to
be successful on YouTube. The second way that I make
money is by partnering with brands that are
beneficial to my audience. For example, I have
partnered with Skillshare, the platform where you're
currently watching this class. However, it's relevant to you because Skillshare is
relevant to my brand. It's relevant to my
audience avatar, and it's relevant to
what I stand for. My three content
pillars are upskilling, passive income and side hustles. And Skillshare fits right
into the upskilling piece. So that's why they're
a great brand for me to partner with. You also have to
think about brands that would want to
partner with you. Number three is to
sell products and services that are
relevant to your avatar. The reason why my
flagship program is the PE tube or Academy. Because my audience has
specifically told me that they want to learn how to build and
monetize YouTube channels. So that's what I
created for them. So it's easy to sell
and make money while adding value to my
audience avatar. So that way I'm adding direct value to my
audience avatar, making an impact on her life while also
getting to the bag. The fourth way that
you can make money as a content creator is to create a closed community that requires a monthly fee payment. Your biggest fans
want to come closer to you so you can create a smaller audience that pays to have access
to exclusive content
