When Caleb Miller's older brother Matty goes missing under mysterious circumstances, he turns to Maggie, a quirky girl from his school who Caleb knows hosts a paranormal investigative podcast.

The two begin to investigate the disappearance and discover that the construction work happening at the edge of Ridgebrook may have woken up something sinister living beneath the town. When Matty unexpectedly returns, Caleb and Maggie begin to notice that something isn't quite right.

Together they uncover a creature that can shift forms into any living being and has replaced Caleb's brother. The townsfolk are thrilled to have Matty back and don't believe the wild theories of the two kids, forcing them to take matters into their own hands.
