Julie, I am so impressed with your results. Both paintings have very good contrast. Your balance between light and shadow plays a major role here, and the owl has plenty of light! Unless I read your feedback, I couldn't tell that you used white gouache. The flamingo is spot on. Well done on preserving all the lights. 👏🥰

The only trouble I ran into was my paper drying too fast on me with both sides wetted and I lost all my highlights in and around my eyes so I went in with some white gouache. Loved the class!
