Monochrome portraits 1-7

I have finished! I have struggled with the last project, sketched it multiple times, had to walk away at some point, came back and finally finished it, fighting the desire to fuss and fix "just one more line" all the way to the end. Overall, I am pretty happy with results and feel that I can move on to introducing color into my work. Thank you, Jane, for a fun challenge, detailed explanations and, most importantly, gradually building my confidence in painting portraits!

I am pretty happy with how this gentelman turned out. Perylene Green by Schminke. Looks almost grey. I am learning tons and, most importantly, gaining confidence. One more portrait to go!

Once again, the hair texture in portrait 3 leaves much to be desired. I also have found it's trickier to work with this unusual for me color, granulating "Violet shadows" by White Nights.

For this gentleman's portrait, my biggest challenge was his facial hair - how to convey the volume and the texture of his mustache rather than an idea of it :-)
