Grant Application
One mistake I once made when writing a grant application was submitting a funding request to a foundation that specifically supported projects for youth. In our organization, however, we worked mainly with young adults. Because of this mismatch, our application was rejected.
To fix this issue, I later had to adjust the target age range in our proposal so that it aligned more closely with the foundation’s criteria.
The key lesson I learned is the importance of carefully reading and understanding the funder’s eligibility criteria before applying. It’s better to ensure that the project’s objectives, target group, and outcomes truly fit what the foundation supports, rather than trying to adapt the project afterward. This saves time and increases the chances of success.
